Iron Maiden Announce 2024 North American Tour Dates
The band will also be playing an exclusive show in South America
After previously confirming their 2024 tour plans, Iron Maiden have announced a full North American run for next fall. The tour leg kicks off on October 4, 2024 at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in San Diego, California and wraps up on November 17 at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. From there, the group will head to South America for an exclusive show in Santiago, Chile at Estadio Nacional. Check out the full itinerary below.
The U.S. run is highlighted by a headlining performance at Aftershock Festival 2024 in Sacramento, California.
Iron Maiden Fan Club pre-sales begin on Monday, October 30 for the Chile show, and Tuesday October 31 for all North American shows. Trooper VIP will be available for most shows in the United States and Canada. General tickets for the Chile show go on sale next Thursday, 2 November at 12pm local time. All North American shows go on sale next Friday, November 3 at 10am local time.
More world tour dates are set to be announced imminently.
On October 15, the band announced that they would be extending their Future Past run, which wrapped at Power Trip in Indio, California earlier this month. The first round of shows is set for next September at in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Very special guests Killswitch Engage will be serving as special guests for the trek.
“We’ve really enjoyed playing all the shows on the Future Past Tour this year, and the reaction from our fans has been incredible,” Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris said in a statement. “Being able to play some of these songs for the very first time has made the tour even more memorable, and we can’t wait to continue it next year.”
Regarding the Australian dates, which were previously postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Harris adds, “We’re all really excited to finally be able to return to Australia as we know our fans have waited so patiently for us over the past few years. It’s going to be great to get back out there, especially with this new show. We promise you all, it’ll be worth the wait!”
The band’s longtime manager Rod Smallwood says, “All our best-laid plans to bring the Legacy of the Beast Tour to Australia were derailed by the shut-down of the live music industry during COVID, but we assured everyone at the time that we would come back to Australia and, as our fans know, we always keep our promises. So, as you would imagine, we’re very much looking forward to bringing this amazing new show to the Southern hemisphere and giving our loyal Australian fans the best Maiden show we can. You can be assured it’s worth the wait. See you all in 2024!”
Still one of the hardest touring acts around, Iron Maiden brought their Legacy of the Beast Tour back to North American last year for another massive run. The band’s latest album Senjutsu arrived in 2021. The album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, and No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock and Top Hard Rock Albums charts. They recently played a string of shows in Canada, followed by an appearance at Power Trip in Indio, California alongside Metallica, AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Judas Priest, and Tool.

DREAM THEATER to support IRON MAIDEN on Summer Tour
New York, NY: Prog rock/metal icons DREAM THEATER will spend their summer supporting Iron Maiden on the band’s month-long tour of major US and Canadian markets. The tour launches on June 9 and runs through July 20, and includes a stop at the storied Madison Square Garden in NYC, marking the first time in a lengthy and respected career that Dream Theater will have played the world’s most famous arena. This tour will mark another milestone in Dream Theater’s history, which continues to expand and evolve, twenty-five years deep.
Of touring with Iron Maiden in North America, drummer Mike Portnoy said, “It is a bit of a dream come true for us. After 25 years together, at this stage in our career, there’s honestly only three bands Dream Theater would consider opening for and Maiden is one of them. It is an absolute honor. Through the years, we’ve done many one-off shows with Maiden and they’ve almost all been overseas. It is very exciting to finally be doing a full tour with them and on our side of the pond, no less. These are gonna be amazing shows that the fans won’t want to miss. Up the f***ing irons!”
Playing MSG for the first time is also a huge accomplishment for the band and they are thrilled about the prospect. “Dream Theater has achieved so many dreams through the years, from playing the Budokan in Tokyo to Wembley Arena in London to Radio City Music Hall in NYC,” Portnoy recalled. “But the one remaining dream that has eluded us through all of these years was to play at Madison Square Garden. Well, on July 12, along with Iron Maiden, that dream will finally be fulfilled.”
Guitarist John Petrucci was equally stoked about the MSG play, saying, “I am unbelievably excited to be finally playing Madison Square Garden, and with the almighty Maiden to boot! They have been heroes to the band since the beginning and are iconic in our eyes. There is nothing like achieving success and recognition in your own country, in your own city. It’s going to be an incredible night for sure.”
Portnoy has proof of this career-long dream, saying, “About a month ago, my family and I were watching a video of my first band Intruder from back in 1983, and in the video before the show, I was interviewed and asked what my dream goal was. I responded ‘To play the Garden.’ It took almost 30 years, but it’s surreal that I will now be able to check it off the list.”
Dream Theater’s Black Clouds & Silver Linings was released in 2009 and debuted at #6 on the Billboard Top 200 Sales chart.
Tour dates for the Iron Maiden/Dream Theater run are as follows:

“He Walks By Night” – Listen to a Brand New John Carpenter Song NOW!
It’s a new day, and you’ve got new John Carpenter to listen to. John Carpenter, Daniel Davies and Cody Carpenter have released the new track He Walks By Night this morning, the second single off their upcoming album Lost Themes IV: Noir , out May 3 on Sacred Bones Records.
Lost Themes IV: Noir is the latest installment in a series that sees Carpenter releasing new music for John Carpenter movies that don’t actually exist. The first Lost Themes was released in 2015, followed by Lost Themes II in 2016 and Lost Themes III: Alive After Death in 2021.
Sacred Bones previews, “It’s been a decade since John Carpenter recorded the material that would become Lost Themes , his debut album of non-film music and the opening salvo in one of Hollywood’s great second acts. Those vibrant, synth-driven songs, made in collaboration with his son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies, kickstarted a musical renaissance for the pioneering composer and director. With Lost Themes IV: Noir , they’ve struck gold again, this time mining the rich history of the film noir genre for inspiration.
“Since the first Lost Themes , John has referred to these compositions as “soundtracks for the movies in your mind.” On the fourth installment in the series, those movies are noirs. Like the film genre they were influenced by, what makes these songs “noirish” is sometimes slippery and hard to define, and not merely reducible to a collection of tropes. The scores for the great American noir pictures were largely orchestral, while the Carpenters and Davies work off a sturdy synth-and-guitar backbone.
“The trio’s free-flowing chemistry means Lost Themes IV: Noir runs like a well-oiled machine—the 1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster from Kiss Me Deadly , perhaps, or the 1958 Plymouth Fury from John’s own Christine . It’s a chemistry that’s helped power one of the most productive stretches of John’s creative life, and Noir proves that it’s nowhere near done yielding brilliant results.”
You can pre-save Lost Themes IV: Noir right now! And listen to the new track below…

James LaBrie Recalls How IRON MAIDEN Treated DREAM THEATER As An Opening Band
- December 17, 2020
- 2 minute read
In a new conversation with The Everyman Podcast , Dream Theater singer James LaBrie recalls the time of Dream Theater and Iron Maiden back in the days. Here’s what the singer said:
“We’ve done so many shows with Iron Maiden . Before ‘Images and Words’ came out [in July 1992], we actually played about five shows – we just went out and we were playing just to kind of see how this feels.
“So this was June of ’92, and we just said, ‘Let’s go and do like six shows, and then in September we’re going to start the official ‘Images and Words’ tour.”
“And I believe on September 27th, at The Limelight, New York – that’s where we were – that was our first official show of ‘Images and Words.’
“I don’t know why I’m remembering that – maybe it’s the wine – but in June of ’92, we backed up Iron Maiden at The Ritz in New York.
“And I remember Bruce Dickinson came out on stage after we had performed and he made a point of it. He said, ‘Man, let’s hear it for f*cking Dream Theater ! These guys kick a*s!’
“And I remember we were just like, ‘That’s cool!’ Because they all haven’t even come out yet. So we were like, ‘Holy s*it – right on, awesome!’
“And when he came up saying, ‘I love you guys, this is the first album…’ – all this stuff, it was crazy!
“The other reason that we did that was – because their management was thinking about managing us at the time, and then that kind of fizzled out.
“And then we went, and we started getting managed by people that managed us, but that’s a whole other story. But it was kind of crazy because I remember going out in front of Iron Maiden at the time, we were like, ‘Holy s*it!’
“We’re not just gonna go out there and play some heavy madness freaking music, we’re going out there with ‘Take the Time,’ ‘Metropolis,’ and ‘Learning to Live’ – are you freaking kidding me?
“We were thinking about Iron Maiden t here going like, ‘What the f*ck is this?!’ We got out there and they were going nuts! Something’s happening here, something’s going on.
“When we were out on Yes , our management would get in touch with their management and go, ‘Yeah, man, you’re going to the boards – it’s crazy, people are loving you! All these Yes fans!’
“And we’re going, ‘What do you mean? Are you saying that they’re just discovering us?’ And they’re like, ‘Yeah, there’s a lot of Yes fans going, ‘Who the hell is this band Dream Theater ? I’m going to pick up some of their albums and stuff.”
“And we’re going, ‘And why wouldn’t they already know who the hell we are? Isn’t that bizarre?'”

DREAM THEATER And IRON MAIDEN Members Say 'Cheese' For Tour Photo
The first joint photo of the members of DREAM THEATER and IRON MAIDEN — taken during the two band's just-completed tour — can be viewed below (courtesy of DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy ).
DREAM THEATER supported IRON MAIDEN on a North American trek which kicked off on June 9 in Dallas, Texas and concluded on July 20 in Washington, D.C.
In a recent interview with Blistering.com DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy stated about his band's decision to tour with IRON MAIDEN , "When you get the call from MAIDEN , you pack your bags, hit the road and go.
"It wasn't in our plans. We had planned on being off the road at this time, but when the opportunity arose, we took it.
"They are one of the few bands that formed the blueprint for DREAM THEATER .
"When me and John [ Petrucci , guitars] and John [ Myung , bass] formed the band, it was MAIDEN and RUSH . Those were the two bands that were our heroes; what we wanted DREAM THEATER to be.
"Even though we don't follow them today like we used to when we were kids, the fact will never change they were our heroes when we formed and one of the few that are a perfect match for us to open for."
When asked how the IRON MAIDEN fans were accepting DREAM THEATER , Portnoy told Goldmine magazine, "Well, that's why [we did the tour]. It's all about trying to make some new friends from the MAIDEN fan base. That's ultimately why we are on this tour, and it seems to be going great so far.
"There are a lot of their fans who are kind of old-timers who have been with them through all the years and maybe don't know a band like DREAM THEATER , so … I wrote a set list that is a kind of crash course in the metal side of DREAM THEATER . It's the same set every night, which is unusual for us, as well. But I think it is something that their fans will be able to latch onto. It's an easier-to-swallow set list. Not any of the big 20-minute epics. More of just the metal side and the 'hits' — not that we have any hits — but the ones that are a little more accessible to grasp onto.
"Luckily, DREAM THEATER was never a hit band, because I would hate nothing more than to always go out and play the same exact songs because that's what people want to hear. I'm seeing this with IRON MAIDEN right now, because they chose to do a set list on this tour that is, basically, from the last 10 years. And there's a big backlash amongst some of their fans. On one hand, I can understand the fans' point of view, the ones that do want to hear the hits, but, on the other hand, I understand MAIDEN 's point of view, that they don't want to be stuck playing the same songs for the rest of their lives. They put out new albums; they want to play the new music.
"Usually, when I write set lists, it is a wide-open palette that I can choose from. I like to pick over 100 songs and not feel like we have to play anything."
