About Journey Girls®

As the name suggests, the Journey Girls® are a group of friends who travel the world together. Each doll has their own unique leadership skills and way that she helps her friends along their adventures. Journey Girls® were formerly the private label 18-inch doll of Toys “R” Us stores, but were moved by the company to being sold primarily on Amazon in July of 2019.

Journey Girls® Measurements

While the Journey Girls® doll is 18-inches tall, she has different proportions and measurements compared to an 18-inch American Girl® doll. The main differences between the two dolls are that the Journey Girls® have a slimmer cloth torso than the AG dolls. This means that Journey Girls® pants and skirts are quite a bit smaller than ones made to fit 18-inch American Girl® dolls. The Journey Girls®, A Girl For All Time®, and American Girl® dolls are pictured above to show that the three dolls are different enough in size to all require different sized clothing and shoes, but are similar enough to be styled together with the same scale of props and furniture.

Journey Girls® Character Names And Descriptions  

Each year the girls are rereleased with new outfits and accessories inspired by a new location they have traveled to, such as London, Paris, and Italy.

Chavonne : Chavonne loves to be in the spotlight performing music. She comes dressed in a vibrant red-orange cape, white t-shirt, navy leggings, and cute vegetal print rain boots. She has brown hair and brown eyes.   Buy Chavonne Now

I think these dolls are beautiful! I am drawn to Kyla, though ……. perhaps because we share an artistic personality. Kindred spirits! :)

I’m a big fan of the Kelsey doll and purchased the Journey Girls in Australia version of her before Toys R Us closed. I like her best because she has an inquisitive yet calm expression on her face. I also like that she has long hair that allows me to dress her up in all sorts of ways.

I like Mikaella because she reminds me of my sister.

Kelsey is my favorite. I can’t resist her red hair and green eyes.

I love Kelsey she reminds me of my little red head granddaughter! <3

I think I’ll say Mikaella. The strawberry blond and blue eyes. They are all quite pretty and it was difficult to pick just one. Close seconds were Kyla and Kelsey. But Meredith has a real sweet face too.

They are all beautiful, but my favorite is Mikaella. I love the color of her hair and her face is so sweet.

I haven’t tried the journey dolls but they sure look cute. Kyla seems to have similar interests.

I love Kelsey and her red hair.

I like Meredith. Her blonde hair and blue eyes are like my granddaughter’s. And she is very health conscious like Meredith.

Kelsey is my favorite because of the hair color and my Irish heritsge.

These Journey Girls dolls are all beautiful and so difficult to choose a favorite. Kyla looks the most like my youngest granddaughter. Winning her would be lovely.

I like all the Journey Girls, but my favourite is Dana, I like her kind and sweet smile, and that she loves animals.

I think I like Meredith the best, because she has similar interests to me. It would be great for young girls to learn about staying fit and healthy without obsessing to the point where it is unhealthy.

These dolls are all absolutely lovely, but my favorite would have to be Kyla because she is an artistic photographer and I love her style.

I found my Meredith doll at a Goodwill a few years ago. I’ve purchased several patterns for her from Pixie Faire and they’re delightful and easy to use. You should try them!! I would love to enjoy another Journey Girl doll. My favorites are Chavonne and Kelsie. But Meredith (my Lacey) would love any one of her friends:).

A Tour of Italy with the Journey Girls

I recently had the pleasure of attending a preview of the fall launch for Journey Girls, a series of 18″ dolls produced and sold by Toys “R” Us. Five years ago they created this line of dolls and have since expended form four to seven different dolls to choose from. Each doll has her own backstory with varied interests but they all come together to travel the world, each year bringing them to a new country. Since Toys R Us is no longer in business, you can still find them on Amazon ! 

This fall the collection features Italy and all of the dolls have cute new outfits to travel in. None of them are specifically Italian (except one that says “ciao”), but all of them are true to the doll’s character and my daughter really loved the clothes. The dolls are a bit older looking than some 18″ dolls which is nice if your child wants to act out the story of the girls traveling on their own all over the world as my daughter did.

“Adventure seeker Kelsey will challenge herself by taking on the best hiking trails and exploring marine life within Italy’s 4,000-plus miles of coastline!”

My eight year old daughter has two other dolls this size and her Journey Girl Kelsey fit right in with them, the clothes are mostly interchangeable with other dolls although the Journey dolls have thinner legs and smaller feet so some pants and shoes may not work on bigger dolls. Kelsey is able to stand in her shoes which was great. I think the rooted lashes and hair are nice and easy to maintain and her vinyl has good coloring and weight to it, adding to the durability over time. The collection is adorable and I am happy about the quality so i definitely recommend the Journey Girl collection to anyone who loves playing with or collecting dolls!
