Justin Bieber caught on video mistreating Argentine flags
November 13, 2013 / 5:28 PM EST / AP
Argentines are expressing outrage over the latest scandal to emerge from Justin Bieber's wild tour through Buenos Aires , saying the way he treated the Argentine flag shows he has no respect for his fans or the country.
Videos from Saturday night's concert show how Bieber reacted when fans tossed two Argentine flags onto the stage. Most musicians on world tours usually hold up the flags in appreciation to their fans.
Not Bieber. The videos show him treating the flags like dirty rags, using his shoes and then a microphone stand to sweep them off the stage.
Bieber's manager Scooter Braun tweeted that Bieber will be back to Argentina. He might want to think carefully on that: Insulting Argentina's flag is a crime punishable by up to four years in prison.

Justin Bieber Raises Flag Scandal in Argentina
By Ryan Reed
Adding another bizarre controversy to his recent South American tour, Justin Bieber offended many Argentine fans this past weekend by mishandling a flag thrown onstage.
The Evolution of Justin Bieber
Bieber’s current South American tour passed through Buenos Aires on Saturday night, but the singer’s wild show hit an awkward snag when fans tossed a pair of Argentine flags onto the stage. Bieber wiped them across and off the stage using both his shoes and microphone stand.
Many of Bieber’s Argentine fans were offended by his actions, which were captured in various cell phone videos and posted to Youtube. On Saturday, Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, tweeted that he “spent the day dealing with the pandemonium (Bieber) caused in Argentina.” The Associated Press also noted that disgracing Argentina’s flag is a crime “punishable by up to four years in prison.”
Taylor Swift Drops Dystopic, Post Malone-Featuring Trailer for 'Fortnight'
Dickey betts, allman brothers band singer-guitarist, dead at 80, come for the torture, stay for the poetry: this might be taylor swift's most personal album yet, taylor swift and post malone were in the ‘tortured poets department’ together way before ‘fortnight’ .
Bieber’s South American trek has been less than stellar: the singer played another show in Buenos Aires the following Sunday, but he cut the show short after only an hour, claiming to be suffering from food poisoning. (The fans, who reportedly paid up to $320 per ticket, were clearly upset, assaulting the pop star with boos.) This was Bieber’s second walk-off of the tour and not the only controversy Bieber has faced while in South America: he was charged with spray-painting graffiti on a wall – a crime that, if convicted, could earn him one year in prison. Also, a Brazilian woman videotaped him while he was sleeping in a hotel room.
A video of Bieber’s flag incident is below. Watch for yourself and decide if the outrage is warranted.

Justin Bieber Responds to Argentina Flag Controversy: “I’m Sorry for My Mistake”
UPDATE: Don't rage at him, Argentina — Justin Bieber is very, very sorry. Days after the 19-year-old "Heartbreaker" singer unwittingly infuriated Argentine fans by appearing to sweep their flag offstage with his foot during a recent concert, he took to Twitter to issue an apology for the incident, which he says was just a big misunderstanding on his part.
"Heard about what is going on with me down in Argentina and I'm shocked. I love Argentina and have had some of the best shows of my tour there," he wrote in the first of a series of tweets on Wednesday, Nov. 13. "People throw stuff on my stage all show and I get it to the stage hands to get off so no one [gets] hurt."

He went on to say he thought the flag in question was a shirt. "I'm being told by my team it was a shirt but even if it was a flag I would never do anything to disrespect Argentina or the people of Argentina or the fans," he continued. "I'm so sorry for anyone who took my actions the wrong way and I hope you can forgive this mistake."
He continued: "So once again to the people of Argentina, I'm sorry if that was taken the wrong way and I'm sorry for my mistake. I hope u can accept this and I loved my time there performing for you and look forward to coming back. I gave my all and I know the fans did there too. Te amo."

That wasn't the end of the apology, though. "I would never do anything to disrespect my fans," he wrote. "I don't like having to defend myself, but this time it was needed as I mean no disrespect. So it is all love all around the world…and to all the beliebers ALL AROUND THE WORLD, I love you and thank you for always standing by me."
Videos of the incident have surfaced in which Bieber is singing to his fans when two Argentinian flags are tossed onto the stage. He then proceeds to sweep the items off stage with his shoes and the microphone pole. (In Argentina, disrespecting the flag is a crime worthy of punishment up to four years behind bars.)

The Argentine leg of Bieber's tour has been a rocky one. He had to leave his hotel Friday night due to a gaggle of girls destroying hotel property. "Unfortunately this has happened before," his rep commented to Us Weekly . "Too many fans show up and create a security issue, requiring Justin to find other accommodations."
On Sunday, the 19-year-old Canadian singer posted a selfie on Twitter posing with an IV drip preceding his show. Bieber, who did not want to disappoint fans, managed to perform for an hour before he apologetically announced, "I'm not feeling too good, I think I'm out of energy." He was then booed off stage.

The singer, who seemed to recoup by Monday, shared a photo with his manager Scooter Braun . The shot captured the two smiling and playing with a group of local children.

It’s the latest misstep on a South American tour that has drawn a slew of headlines. Bieber walked off stage during two separate concerts, blaming food poisoning for Sunday’s abbreviated show in Buenos Aires. The star also walked off the stage in Brazil, ending a concert early after someone threw a plastic bottle at him.
VIDEO: Justin Bieber’s Latest ‘Believe’ Promo Is a Bummer
Meanwhile, an unverified photo circulated on the Internet purportedly showing him crashed in bed, and Brazilian police tried unsuccessfully to question him about defacing a public building with graffiti, a crime that carries a one-year prison sentence.
In Argentina, wild girls caused such a ruckus outside the Faena Hotel that Bieber had to leave. He then flew to Cordoba for a Friday night concert and still had enough energy to take his entourage to a Buenos Aires nightclub early Saturday morning.
A paparazzi videotape shows Bieber’s bodyguards leaving the Ink club after daybreak Saturday, hustling someone out under a black sheet into one of two vans loaded with young girls. The bodyguards can then be seen chasing down and assaulting the nightclub’s house photographer, Diego Pesoa, and damaging his camera.
After police tried to question the bodyguards at the second hotel, the entourage relocated yet again, to a private property inside a gated community north of the capital, reported Telam, Argentina’s state news service.

Justin Bieber Says ‘Sorry’ To Argentina Over Lack of ‘Purpose’ Tour Dates
Justin Bieber apologized to his Argentinian fans on Monday for the lack of scheduled dates in South America on his Purpose Tour, saying he couldn't visit the nation because of "legal conditions."
By Gil Kaufman

Justin Bieber is taking his Purpose World Tour all over the globe, from North America to Europe and Asia. But, for now, he’s had to put a pause on plans to venture down to South America for very good reasons: the law.
Arrest Warrant Issued for Justin Bieber in Argentina
On Monday, Bieber apologized to his Argentinian fans, saying he’d love to visit them again but is currently prevented from doing so due to “legal conditions” in the nation.

Specifically, Bieber can’t travel south because a warrant was issued for his arrest in Argentina last year when a judge claimed the singer failed to respond to a court summons related to a 2013 incident in which he allegedly ordered bodyguards to attack a photographer. If convicted of causing injuries in the case, Bieber could face anywhere from one month to six years in prison; four months after the warrant was issued, the judge revoked it , though the charges still stand.

The singer also had to apologize on Twitter in 2013 for seemingly disrespecting the nation’s flag when he appeared to throw it on the ground and sweep it away with his foot. Insulting Argentina’s flag is a crime punishable by up to four years in prison.

Justin Bieber apologizes after kicking Argentine flag
- Good thing Twitter exists for Bieber to issue apologies
- Argentines are only the latest Latin Americans to be ticked at teen pop star
Latin Americans are famous for their warm hospitality but even they might be reaching the fed-up point with North American pop star Justin Bieber, who's managed to be a serial offender on his current tour of the region.
After ticking off Colombians and Brazilians earlier, the Canadian singer today is apologizing to Argentines offended by his treatment of their flag while on stage in Buenos Aires on Saturday, according to the Associated Press.
Videos from the performance show fans tossing two Argentine flags onto the stage. Most musicians on world tours usually hold up the flags in tribute to the country where they're performing.
But Bieber treated the flags like rags, using his shoes and then a microphone stand to sweep them off the stage.
The outrage from Argentines, who have gone to war in the past to defend their flag, soon followed.
So the Biebs, 19, took to Twitter today to express contrition in a series of tweets . He said he was "shocked" at the reaction to what happened, adding that fans throw stuff on stage all the time and usually his stagehands take it away so "no one gets hurt."
He said he thought this time the fans threw a shirt.
"it was a shirt. Im being told by my team it was a shirt but even if it was a flag I would never do anything to disrespect Argentina," read one tweet, followed by "or the people of Argentina or the fans. Im so sorry for anyone who took my actions the wrong way and I hope you can forgive this mistake."
And finally, "so once again to the people of Argentina. Im sorry if that was taken the wrong way and im sorry for my mistake. I hope u can accept this."
Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, said Bieber will return to Argentina, but the Associated Press reporter in Buenos Aires pointed out that insulting Argentina's flag is a crime punishable by up to four years in prison.
Bieber has already come under fire during the tour for walking off stage in Brazil and Argentina, and spray-painting graffiti on walls in Colombia and Brazil.

Justin Bieber's International Goodwill Tour Continues As He "Sweeps the Floor" with Argentina's Flag
All around the world, people want to be loved.
Image via Complex Original
Ah, Justin. You intrepid global ambassador. First you're out painting graffiti and showing up in strange beds in Brazil, then you're battling food poisoning and cutting shows short in Argentina . What will your tour face next? Ah, yes, just some standard flag desecration.
During a show in Buenos Aires this weekend, Justin Bieber was caught on video sweeping two Argentine flags off the stage with his foot and his microphone stand. While some singers might have taken the opportunity to hold the flag up and celebrate the country, Justin was unceremonious, prompting some concern from the local community, the AP reports :
{ "id": 132776009 } None
The video, titled "Justin Bieber barre el suelo con una bandera Argentina," which translates to "Justin Bieber sweeps the floor with an Argentine flag," can be seen above. According to the AP, insulting the Argentine flag is a crime punishable by up to four years in prison.
Perhaps he's making a bold political statement about Argentina's Dirty War (or an even bolder one about the country's claim to the British-owned Falkland Islands). Perhaps he was just having a bad day (that food poisoning sounded rough after all). Whatever the reason, Justin could use some good news.
As luck would have it, there is some. In an interview with Vibe published today, R. Kelly said he and Justin had worked together on a new song. Justin tweeted to confirm that the song would be coming out next week, giving us something to think about instead of exactly how Justin Bieber feels about President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner's current policies.
Now, we can have something else on our minds, like how they're telling us no even though our bodies are telling us yes. Look for the Kells/Bieber connection next week.
UPDATE: Justin took to Twitter tonight to address the complaints, graciously accepting the critiques but explaining he thought the item in question was a shirt. He was apologetic and open, expressing his desire to return to Argentina:
{ "id": 132776012 } heard about what is going on with me down in Argentina and im shocked. I love Argentina and have had some of the best shows of my tour there
{ "id": 132776010 } people throw stuff on my stage all show and i get it to the stage hands to get off so no one got hurt. that video i saw a bra and thought...

{ "id": 132776016 } ...or the people of Argentina or the fans. Im so sorry for anyone who took my actions the wrong way and I hope you can forgive this mistake
{ "id": 132776013 } so once again to the people of Argentina. Im sorry if that was taken the wrong way and im sorry for my mistake. I hope u can accept this..
{ "id": 132776014 } ..and I loved my time there performing for you and look forward to coming back. I gave my all and I know the fans did there too. te amo

Bieber says ‘sorry’ for mistreating Argentine flag
- Copy Link copied
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Justin Bieber says he hopes Argentines can forgive him. He may need to tell that to some judges.
The 19-year-old pop sensation faces two criminal complaints and demands for refunds in Argentina, in addition to trouble with police for allegedly spraying graffiti in Brazil and Colombia.
One Argentine lawyer is accusing Bieber of sending bodyguards to attack a photographer outside a Buenos Aires nightclub early Saturday.
Another accuses him of defiling the national symbol by dragging two Argentine flags off stage with his feet and a microphone stand in front of 45,000 “beliebers” during the first of two scheduled concerts in River Plate stadium. Defiling the flag is a crime that carries a maximum penalty of four years in prison.
A flurry of nine tweets appeared Thursday on Bieber’s official Twitter account apologizing for his behavior.
“I love Argentina and have had some of the best shows of my tour there,” one said.
A fan video that’s gone viral on social media shows Bieber giving what seems like the dirty-rag treatment to two Argentine flags that audience members threw onto the stage.
Musicians on world tours usually pick up national symbols to show appreciation for their fans. In the same stadium in recent years, Madonna draped an Argentine flag over her shoulders, Mick Jagger wore an Argentine national soccer jersey, and his fellow Briton, Sir Paul McCartney, thrilled the crowd by waving a huge Argentine flag back and forth.
Bieber, however, “proceeded to wipe the floor with the national symbol of the Argentine Republic, an act considered a crime by our law,” said the criminal complaint filed Wednesday by attorney Alejo de la Torre of Cordoba.
One of Bieber’s tweets said that “people throw stuff on my stage all show” and he gets things off stage so no is injured. In other tweets, he said, that “even if it was a flag I would never do anything to disrespect Argentina” and “I hope you can forgive this mistake.”
Bieber also has been sued by Buenos Aires lawyer Matias Morla, who represents a paparazzi photographer who alleges he was chased down and beaten by Bieber’s bodyguards outside the INK nightclub, where the singer and his entourage partied early Saturday.
Bieber also angered Argentines by abandoning a Sunday concert after less than an hour and not showing up for a photo-op that some fans paid hundreds of dollars extra for. The singer’s manager, Scooter Braun, says Bieber came down with food poisoning after a concert Saturday, and despite eight hours of intravenous fluids, insisted on trying to do Sunday’s concert against doctors’ advice.
The Argentine Consumers Union has urged people to formally register for refunds for tickets they paid up to $320 for, accusing the Canadian-born Bieber of violating his contract and defrauding fans.
His tweets apologized for that, too, writing that it was “my mistake” and saying he “would never do anything to disrespect my fans.”
“I loved my time there performing for you and look forward to coming back. I gave my all and I know the fans did there too,” a tweet said.

Justin Bieber apologises for disrespecting Argentinian flag onstage
Singer had sparked outrage in South American country for kicking flag offstage
Justin Bieber has apologised for disrespecting the Argentinian flag onstage during a show in Buenos Aires.
As Rolling Stone reports, the singer had been performing in the South American country onstage earlier this week (November 10) when fans threw two of their national flags onto the stage, which landed by Bieber’s feet. He kicked away at the flags and then used his microphone stand to try and sweep them away – you can watch footage of the incident by clicking at the bottom of the page.

Bieber’s South American tour has hit the headlines for numerous reasons over the past several weeks. Last week, he walked off stage in Brazil after someone threw a plastic bottle at him.
Meanwhile, Police unsuccessfully tried to question the singer over an unverified photograph purportedly showing him spraying graffiti on the former Hotel Nacional in Rio de Janeiro , a crime a that carries a year’s prison sentence.
He had also reportedly previously upset authorities in Bogota, Columbia when he graffitied a wall along one of the capital city’s main avenues while being escorted by officers in a police car.
It was also claimed that Bieber had been spotted by photographers leaving a Brazilian brothel with his head covered by a bed sheet to protect his modesty.

The singer had reportedly been in the brothel for over three hours, before he headed back to his hotel with two girls. He and his security team were later kicked out of their hotel for breaking rules, according to local sources.

Justin Bieber Accused Of Desecrating Argentinean Flag, Says He's Sorry
Justin Bieber’s Troubled ‘Believe’ Tour In Latin American
Justin Bieber's misfortunes during his "Believe" Tour across Latin American continue to grab headlines.
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – Was Justin Bieber desecrating the Argentinean flag or did he mistaken it for a T-shirt?
Argentineans are up in arms after a video emerged from the singer's Saturday night concert in Buenos Aires showing that after a fan threw two Argentina flags on the stage, the singer kicked them and then used a microphone to sweep them off the stage.
The teen idol was forced to issue an apology afterward following an angry reaction in Argentina.
The 19-year-old singer took to Twitter Wednesday night to apologize in a series of messages to his fans worldwide.
“heard about what is going on with me down in Argentina and im shocked. I love Argentina and have had some of the best shows of my tour there,” he started.
He then said that had he known what was thrown at him during the concert, he never would have treated it with such disrespect.
“people throw stuff on my stage all show and i get it to the stage hands to get off so no one got hurt. that video i saw a bra and thought…” Bieber continued. “…it was a shirt. Im being told by my team it was a shirt but even if it was a flag I would never do anything to disrespect Argentina…”
Bieber, who first drew the ire of Argentineans after he cut his Sunday concert short because of food poisoning , begged his fans to forgive him.
“...Im so sorry for anyone who took my actions the wrong way and I hope you can forgive this mistake,” his tweet said. “so once again to the people of Argentina. Im sorry that was taken the wrong way and im sorry for my mistake. I hope you can accept this..”
The “Boyfriend” singer said he loved performing in Argentina and looks forward to returning to the country soon.
Whether when he returns he will be welcomed with open arms is unclear: Insulting Argentina's flag is a crime punishable by up to four years in prison.
This is the most recent incident involving the 19-year-old pop singer during his tumultuous tour throughout Latin America.
In Colombia, Bieber and a friend painted graffiti on the walls of a tunnel in Bogota - leaving his signature and several pieces of advice.
In Brazil, the teen superstar was reportedly seen leaving a brothel , was kicked out of his hotel room and video taped sleeping by a Brazilian party girl after a night she has described as " unforgettable ." Bieber is also facing charges of vandalism in Brazil after he reportedly left his mark in Rio de Janeiro.

Justin Bieber Upsets Fans Over Argentina Flag
The teen idol is caught on video getting rid of two Argentine flags thrown on stage by fans at a Buenos Aires concert.
Thursday 14 November 2013 10:06, UK
Justin Bieber has outraged fans in Argentina by kicking their national flag while on stage.
Videos from a Buenos Aires concert show fans throwing two Argentine flags onto the stage, both of which land near the singer's feet.
Most musicians on world tours would be expected to hold up the flags as a mark of respect to their fans.
However, the footage shows Bieber trying to remove them from the stage by first kicking at them on the floor with his shoes.
The pop star then uses his microphone stand to sweep them off stage, one after the other, before jumping in the air and smiling.
Insulting Argentina's flag is a crime punishable in the country by up to four years in prison.
Bieber's world tour came into more trouble at the weekend when the singer blamed food poisoning for walking out of a show for the second time during the South American leg.

He drew boos from a huge crowd in Buenos Aires' River Plate stadium who paid up to $320 (£199) to see their idol perform up close.
"I'm not feeling too good, I think I'm out of energy," he told the crowd, before apologising and blowing a kiss to his fans, then leaving the stage with his head hung low.
His manager said the star's food poisoning was so severe that he spent eight hours on a drip before Sunday night's show. Doctors advised cancelling, but the 19-year-old did not want to disappoint his fans.
Bieber also walked off the stage in Brazil, ending a concert early after someone threw a plastic bottle at him.
A Brazilian woman reportedly posted pictures of him in bed after a night at a strip club, and the Canadian pop singer was allegedly photographed spraying graffiti on a hotel in Rio de Janeiro.

Justin Bieber Apologizes for Sweeping Argentine Flag Offstage: "I Saw a Bra and Thought It Was a Shirt"
Singer says he would "never do anything" to respect his fans in the south american nation.
Things are continuing to go south for Justin Bieber during the South American leg of his Believe tour. The 19-year-old pop star outraged his Argentinean fans after a video surfaced which showed him disrespecting two national flags during his concert on Saturday, Nov. 9. In the clip, the "Bad Day" singer—who was ill earlier that night—used his shoes and then a microphone stand to sweep them offstage.
After the video went viral, Bieber decided to address the incident via Twitter on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
"Heard about what is going on with me down in Argentina and I'm shocked. I love Argentina and have had some of the best shows of my tour there," he told his nearly 47 million followers. "People throw stuff on my stage all show and I get it to the stage hands to get off so no one got hurt. That video I saw a bra and thought it was a shirt. Justin Bieber 'So Sorry' For Kicking Argentinian Flags
To be fair, there is probably a lot of stuff that gets thrown on stage during a typical Justin Bieber's show. Homemade drawings, flowers, photos, crumpled pieces of paper with phone numbers or Twitter handles scrawled on them, various undergarments and, perhaps, the occasional national flag.
It's that last one that got Bieber in trouble on Saturday during his gig at River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina. You've probably already heard that JB had to [article id="1717267"]quit the show[/article] halfway through due to pain from food poisoning, but before taking his leave, the Biebs apparently added some insult to injury.
In the latest incident on a problem-plagued outing that has come with charges of graffiti vandalism in Brazil, alleged scuffles between Bieber's security team and nightclub staffers and a reports that the singer spent time in some unsavory places, a clip emerged this week that purportedly shows Justin kicking an Argentinian flag during the November 9 show.
In the video , Bieber uses his foot and then his mic stand to, literally, sweep two national flags off the stage during the concert.
After heated posts from angry Argentinian fans lashing out at the singer over the international incident, Bieber issued a series of tweets apologizing for his actions.
"Heard about what is going on with me down in Argentina and I'm shocked. I love Argentina and have had some of the best shows of my tour there," he wrote. "People throw stuff on my stage all show and I get it to the stage hands to get off so no one got hurt. That video I saw a bra and thought it was a shirt. I'm being told by my team it was a shirt but even if it was a flag I would never do anything to disrespect Argentina or the people of Argentina or the fans. I'm so sorry for anyone who took my actions the wrong way and I hope you can forgive this mistake."

— Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) November 14, 2013
Bieber apologized once again and reminded the people of Argentina that he had a great time performing for them and looks forward to returning in the future. "I gave my all and I know the fans did there too," he said. "Te amo. I would never do anything to disrespect my fans. I don't like having to defend myself but this time it was needed as I mean no disrespect."
According to reports, the penalty for desecration of the Argentinian flag is one to four years in prison.

Justin Bieber Was Banned From Performing in Argentina — And Fans Are Protesting
A mandate from the Argentinian government barring Justin Bieber from performing in the country has caused hundreds of fans to protest in the streets, demanding the pop singer be allowed to appear. However, Argentinian Beliebers might be upset to find out why he isn't allowed to bring his Purpose World Tour there to begin with.

After his security guards attacked a member of the paparazzi just outside of Buenos Aires in 2013 — a move he allegedly ordered — Argentina banned the Biebs from putting on shows there any longer, Forbes reported. The singer was also forced to apologize after he carelessly kicked and swept Argentinian flags his fans threw on stage with his microphone stand.
It appears his most loyal Argentinian fans have put his antics behind him, and are demanding their government do the same. "If the judge has a heart, if he has a little blood in his veins, then he has to remove the complaint," one protester told The Sun .

Justin Bieber Makes Surprise Appearance with Tems and Wizkid During 'Essence' at Coachella 2024
Bieber and Wizkid joined Tems on Sunday, April 14 in the desert for a rendition of the 2021 remix to the track
Kevin Winter/Getty; Emma McIntyre/Getty
Justin Bieber was just one of the surprises Coachella 2024 had in store for fans this weekend.
On Sunday, April 14, the "Never Say Never" artist, 30, made an unexpected appearance during Tems' set at the California music festival alongside Wizkid.
While Tems was in the midst of performing the first verse of "Essence," she grinned as Wizkid appeared onstage, per fan-recorded footage of the set . As the duo alternated verses, Bieber shocked the audience by emerging from the side of the stage and serenading the "Higher" musician, 28. At the end of her set, Tems shared her gratitude for having her special guests and told the crowd, “This is crazy.”
The Grammy-nominated singer had been teasing the excitement of her set ahead of time with a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) in the hours leading up to her performance.
"Coachella! I’m too exciteddd I have a surprise tonight 👀," she wrote on the platform.
"Essence" was originally released in 2020 by Wizkid featuring Tems. The following year, a remix of the track was released featuring Bieber. It became the first Nigerian song to chart the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Global 200 .
Tems' Coachella set featured nine songs, including a new one called “Love Me JeJe."
Other tracks featured were “Avoid Things,” “Replay,” “Crazy Tings," "Higher" and “Damages." She ended the concert with “Me & U” and “Free Mind.”
Bieber has remained largely under the radar since June 2022, when he announced his diagnosis of Ramsay Hunt syndrome , which resulted in one half of his face experiencing paralysis. However, he appeared to be in good health on Sunday as he took the stage at Coachella.
At the time, the "Favorite Girl" performer said his condition was "pretty serious."

"I wish this wasn't the case, but obviously, my body is telling me I got to slow down, and I hope you guys understand, and I'll be using this time to rest and relax and get back to 100 percent so that I can do what I was born to do," shared Bieber.
He also added that he was taking time to work on his health and was working on "facial exercises to get my face back to normal."
"It will go back to normal. It's just time," Bieber said. "We don't know how long it will be, but it will be OK."

Justin bieber makes rare onstage appearance with coachella cameo, justin bieber returns to stage with coachella surprise.
Justin Bieber 's giving his fans what they want -- if just for a brief moment ... as he got back on a stage to perform live, joining Tems for her Coachella set.
JB hit the stage with WizKid Sunday night at the California music festival, performing their hit song, "Essence" for the excited crowd. Check it out ... the audience goes totally nuts as Justin appears onstage in a black sweatshirt, cargo pants and a baseball hat.
Justin's cameo was a welcome surprise ... as the singer has been keeping a low profile following his Ramsay Hunt Syndrome diagnosis .
Remember, Justin was diagnosed with the rare neurological disorder in June 2022, leading to the cancelation of his "Justice" tour .
Still, Justin has stepped out a bit more in recent months ... with the singer even performing a surprise 6-song set at the NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto back in February.
Many thought Justin's appearance at the hockey event meant he'd join Usher for the Super Bowl Halftime show , but he ultimately turned down the invitation.
As Lil Jon previously told TMZ ... the SB Halftime show was just too much for Justin to commit to doing. Justin did cheer on Usher from the stands, however, attending the Super Bowl with his wife, Hailey Bieber .
Nonetheless, Justin has a long history of making surprise cameos at Coachella. Not only did Justin stop by Daniel Caesar 's Coachella set in 2022 to perform "Peaches," but he also joined Ariana Grande in 2019 for her Coachella set.
Justin had also been spotted enjoying the festival earlier in the weekend, hugging it out Saturday with his longtime pal Jaden Smith .
Justin wasn't the only A-list surprise during Coachella weekend one ... as Will Smith joined J Balvin onstage, Olivia Rodrigo stopped by Gwen Stefani 's set, Billie Eilish hit the stage with Lana Del Rey and Kesha was invited by Reneé Rapp to perform a song.
Sounds like one for the books!!!
