There are many different cruise lines to choose from, and each one offers a different type of experience. Some are geared towards families, while others are more focused on luxury or adventure. What would you like to see and do while you're onboard? Is a casino a must-have or a rather-avoid? Would a Broadway-caliber show tip the scales for you? Do you need a wide range of activities to keep the kiddos happy while the adults live it up or relax? The onboard activities and amenities can really make or break your vacation, so be sure you know what you're getting.

Another factor that can influence which cruise line you choose is the itinerary. Cruise ships travel all over the world, but some cruise lines may not have destinations available where you're hoping to go. You should also consider the size of the ship: larger ships offer more amenities, but smaller ships can access ports that bigger ships can't.

Speaking of amenities, make sure you understand what you'll get as part of your fare and which extras will come with an additional cost. For example, most cruises offer drink packages for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, but a few have drink stations where you can get complimentary lemonade, coffee and tea. Other amenities that might be important to you are Wi-Fi, spa services, babysitting, fitness classes, and upgraded dining experiences. You can usually get a decent discount if you sign up for an amenities package before you sail, so keep an eye out for promotions in the months leading up to your sailing.

When you take a cruise, it's almost always expected that you'll tip the crew members who have attended to your needs while onboard: your cabin steward ( who probably leaves your towels folded into fun shapes every night ), your servers at your nightly meals, and the head waiter. Cruise lines have a recommended gratuity to cover all three of those staff members, usually $15-$20 per traveler, per day; the total gratuity amount may be charged automatically to your account, or you may be given envelopes to make cash payments.

While it usually isn't mandatory to pay those gratuities - you can ask to have them removed if they're applied automatically, especially if you've received poor service - it's typically considered in poor taste not to tip at the suggested levels (because crew members' salaries, much like servers at your local restaurant, are based on the expectation of tips paid by guests). And, if you receive service that goes above and beyond, adding to the recommended gratuity is always appreciated. Be aware that tips for bartenders, poolside servers, and professional services provided in the spa or elsewhere are not included in the daily suggested gratuity and may be charged automatically at the time of service.

Now that you have a good overview of the cruising experience, which cruise line should you choose? Beyond the points we already covered, here are a few additional criteria that might make it easier to pick:

• Embarkation port. You could get a great deal on a cruise, but what will it cost you to get to the port? That could involve airfare, an overnight stay or two in a nearby hotel (so that you're less likely to be affected by travel delays), and transportation from the airport or hotel to the port. This is especially true if you're taking a cruise that departs from an international destination.
• Perks for repeat cruisers. Like frequent flyer programs on airlines, most cruise lines offer benefits the more you sail. If you find yourself absolutely loving cruise vacations, it can be advantageous to put all of your eggs in one basket, so to speak. Rewards programs can include casino benefits, complimentary meals at the upgraded dining experiences, exclusive sail-away parties with free cocktails and tchotchkes, early-access booking on future cruises, and much more.
• Reputation. It's a really smart idea to see what other travelers have said about their overall experience with a cruise line before booking your trip. The ads on TV may make that private island look amazing, but someone who's been there might point out that you'll pay extra to get on that waterslide. Or, previous cruisers could tell you that despite having several formal nights on the schedule, a particular cruise line has no problem with people showing up to dinner in flip-flops and swimsuit coverups. Find out if the cruise line you're considering lines up in reality with what they advertise.

NCL VS Holland America to Alaska.

We have cruised on NCL half a dozen times and like the line (Breakaway, Dawn, Gem). We put deposit on Holland America Oosterdam for Alaska, May 2017 cruise. NCL is priced the same for our days for Balcony cabins (2 adults / 2 kids in one room). After reading HAL boards I am worried if this is a cruise line for us. We have been on RCCL, Celebrity and Princes and liked them all (Crown Princes being our least favorite). Originally, I assumed that HAL would be best for Alaska. Anybody who experienced BOTH HAL and NCL IN Alaska, please let me hear your thoughts.

I've done both, twice on NCL and once on HAL to Alaska. I'm not a HAL cheerleader.

You will likely hear from them that "HAL or Princess does Alaska better because they have been there the longest." I saw no evidence of that. The best comparison is how Glacier Bay is done by both and the ranger program was equal on both, in fact, it was identical. You enter the Bay, sit in front of the Marjorie Glacier, turn so that the other side of the ship can view it, and then move on. The only difference is if you want warm pea soup on deck (that's a HAL tradition).

It is all about itinerary. I think Skagway is amazing with opportunities to go to the Yukon- I've done that twice- once by train/van and the other renting a car. Sitka was the HAL port instead of Skagway- nice little town, but not much to see.

The food was slightly better on HAL, but the service in the dining room was horrible. To be fair, our wait staff was the problem while others in the DR seemed to not have their issues.

HAL's Westerdam had rather dark interiors and the entertainment wasn't on par with NCL.

You might hear that HAL has an older clientele, but that was not evident in Alaska. There were lots of families and younger people and the reports on their kids' program was positive. NCL's typical passengers to Alaska are across the board. You, however, are traveling in May, so it is likely that the HAL experience may skew towards an older group. That said, there will be fewer children on NCL too. That could be to your advantage!

I gave HAL a try because I read reports that HAL was a step above NCL. It didn't prove true at all. HAL is just like RCL, NCL, Carnival, etc.

It is true that HAL has more passes to Glacier Bay because of their seniority (which I think is very unfair). That may change in the near future when the ten year agreement comes due for negotiation.

So, I would choose a NCL cruise that goes to Glacier Bay OVER HAL by a small margin, everything else being equal.

Thank You, what a wonderful objective answer. (Or maybe it seems that way to me because in my heart of heart that's how I feel without ever being on HAL, but getting a preview to it on Princes:)).

I know you asked for posters who have done both, and that's not me, but I'm chiming in anyway ;)

The single, most memorable cruise experience I have ever had was on a HAL ship in Alaska while the naturalist was on board. We sat, with a latte, in a very comfy lounger chair, high up on the ship, looking out the almost floor to ceiling windows in the Explorations cafe while the naturalist described what we were seeing.

I looked at the Oosdterdam deck plans, and their Explorations cafe is also high up on the ship. If you plan to stay indoors while the naturalist is on board, I would vote for the Explorations cafe as a great place to experience it.

We prefer NCL, since HAL cruises are more laid back than we like. The entertainment isn't nearly as good as NCL. The big advantage to HAL is their ships. The have a retractable roof over the main pool. So, in Alaska you can still swim, no matter what the weather. For some that's a big deal. They're just pools though. No slides, anything compared to the newer NCL ships.

This! The retractable roof on the Hal ships is invaluable. On the Pearl and Jewel the Haven area has a retractable roof over the courtyard but if non Haven the main pools are open to elements so don't get much use unless its hot out. This makes for more crowded indoor areas.

If you plan on sailing the Pearl the spa is much nicer on the Pearl than the HAL ships. The Pearl spa has a sauna overlooking the water, much bigger, and tile loungers much more comfortable. The spa on HAL was a letdown in comparison.

Food marginally better on HAL. I believe on hal they still serve lobster. Reports on ncl differ but on our recent two week Jade med cruise I didn't see lobster on any menus, even speciality. I prefer the relaxed vacation atmosphere on ncl but i think Hal has also relaxed their dress code and I believe banned smoking on balconies.

Nightly theater entertainment on Ncl better than Hal.

Hal ships have a nicer promenade deck with nice teak padded deck chairs. Ncl also has promenade deck but not the same ship feel. I much prefer ncl over hal but for Alaska non Haven, I'd pick HAL hands down.

I prefer the relaxed vacation atmosphere on ncl but i think Hal has also relaxed their dress code and I believe banned smoking on balconies.

HAL has some great itineraries, but we would never consider them under the current, permissive smoking policy. Now we can. :)

We just did NCL Alaska on the Sun last month. The food was a significant improvement over earlier NCL cruises.

Haven't done HAL due to their smoking policy, which seemed to attract smokers. HAL has changed its policy to be similar to NCL.

I have sailed to Alaska on HAL and on NCL on Westerdam and Pearl respectively. I would sail with HAL for the fact that Oosterdam has a usable pool area even in bad weather due to its retractable glass magrodome roof. Oosterdam also has about 400 fewer passengers, so the ship will feel roomier on an itinerary where folks are likely to spend a lot of time indoors.

Keep in mind the following: Oosterdam just emerged from a dry dock where many interior spaces were refurbished and HAL's new entertainment scheme was installed, including BB King's Blues Club, Billboard Onboard dueling-pianos show, and Lincoln Center Stage string quartet. HAL has also been installing new production shows that are comparable to NCL's new shows. Add in Dive-In Burger and NY Pizza, and HAL's on-demand entertainment system, Oosterdam should be a good time.

I am really glad they changed it I was part of a focus group involving advertising for HAL a while ago. I told them in no uncertain terms anything else made no difference for as long as they allowed smoking on the balconies. I am soewhat surprised that HAL did not email me as I also took the time to contact them and let them know why they would not have me as a customer. HAL seems to be really working on sending their ships to lesser known ports which could be a lot of fun and more interesting than seeing 7 other ships in port the same day your ship docks,

The HAL cruise takes you to Hubbard Glacier instead of Glacier Bay National Park. I have been to both on HAL and Royal and you want to see Hubbard Glacier for sure. It is much larger and more majestic. Check out the videos on you tube. Sitka has a wonderful eagle rehab facility your children might like and the town is beautiful. The food on HAL is very good but I can't compare it to NCL since my first cruise with them will be in a month. No matter which ship you use, your balcony will be the best place to see the glacier. The public areas get overloaded with everyone. If your children want to swim HAL is the one to pick since they have the retractable roof.

Thank You to all who took time to respond. I really appreciate all the insight. I have also repriced the cruise and NCL is now $1000 more for comparable room then Oosterdam. We have been to Glasier Bay and would like to see Hubard glacier. We haven't been to Sitka, though I loved train excursion in Skagway and wished kids could experience it, but on Oosterdam sailing there is Sitka instead of Skagway. So, I am looking to flying into Vancouver now and taking Amtrack from there to Seattle. It should be a very scenic route. Unfortunately air fare to Vancouver from New York one way is as much as a round trip NYC to Seattle:(! Working on it. Thank You all again.

Have not been on Hal however if/when I do Alaska again it will be on Hal. My biggest disappointment on NCL to Alaska was that the pools were closed the whole time, but then it is not warm enough for the pool out. Hal has a covered pool so you can be nice and warm enjoying the water while sailing which is a fav of mine. You can even sun bath as the ceiling is clear and tan through(also means you need sun screen)

You will be grateful for the covered swimming pool on the Oosterdam if you like to take a dip! On the Radiance OTS, the outdoor pool was unusable (we sailed at the end of May). It was freezing, so everyone was in the Solarium, which was perfect. Hubbard Glacier was the highlight of the trip. We sat on our balcony the whole time!! I would never book an Alaskan cruise without it.

HOLLAND AMERICA LINE (HAL), hands down should be your FIRST choice for an Alaskan Cruise, especially with their COVERED swimming pool, OUTSIDE Promenade Deck, (with tons of LOUNGERS)! I have done an Alaskan Cruise twice with HAL, & wouldn't consider ANY other cruise line, irregardless of the price! :)

We have done Alaska and have sailed both ships, but not HAL to Alaska. We like both lines, in fact they are our 2 favorites for different reasons. The pros about HAL is service and the cabins are larger, especially with 4 in one cabin. Plus, of course HAL has been doing Alaska since the starting of time. The biggest downfall for me would be the kids program plus no matter how hard they try, HAL is still the line of the old people. This is ok but I would think twice if I had kids.

I see some are reacting based on the pool issue. I don't know about you and your family, but when we did Alaska (both times on NCL) we could have cared less about a pool. BTW once was with a 12 year old. We were so busy with port intensive activities we never missed the pool. There are cruises where a pool is one of the important concerns, not when doing Alaska or Hawaii. For us, the size of the cabins would be our reason for taking HAL with 4 people in a cabin. The reason for takin NCL would be the less formal attitude and the friendly crew. As our friend put it, when doing HAL with us: HAL is great but it lacks energy. I thought that was the perfect way to put it.

My wife and I just did Alaska on the Jewel the first week of September. Not one bad thing to say about it. The food and service was great.....we had a blast and would go back in a heartbeat

Back in the day, HAL was one of the first cruiselines to do Alaska; then it became a staple of Princess itineraries (owned by same parent company). Since they have been there the longest, they tend to get better itineraries, port times, and excursions. Alaska cruising is amazing, but much more subtle than Caribbean. Last time I sailed HAL in Alaska they also had guest speakers. Perfect for HAL ships.

If HAL is doing their famous 14 nighter this year that stops in Anchorage, kodiak, and Homer (with sitka, Juneau, etc..)... I'd highly recommend that itinerary if you can swing it.

Disney Wonder can hold 1,750 passengers at double occupancy and 2,700 passengers at maximum capacity. The ship's unique rotational dining venues include an "under the sea" adventure at Triton's, a dinner show with Disney characters at Animator's Palate and Southern specialties with jazz music at Tiana's Place. For a night out sans kids, adults can savor a quiet evening with northern Italian cuisine at Palo or nosh on casual pub fare at Crown & Fin Pub. Holland America's Koningsdam will sail the line's seven-day Inside Passage itinerary more than 20 times between April and September in 2024. This round-trip voyage embarks in Vancouver and includes multiple days of scenic cruising. You'll sail through the Inside Passage for two days; through Tracy Arm Inlet, where you can disembark for a shore excursion; and through Glacier Bay, where the Junior Ranger Program is a highlight for kids. The ports of call on this itinerary are Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan in Alaska.

Koningsdam features dedicated family staterooms with beds for up to five guests, two bathrooms and extra closet space. The ship carries 2,650 guests at double occupancy and 3,194 passengers at maximum capacity. A wildlife expert on the ship helps guests spot Alaska's incredible marine and land animals through announcements and during daily programs. Keep an eye out for humpback whales, orcas, sea otters, moose, brown bears and other wildlife. While in the Tracy Arm Wilderness Area, you'll want to take the Tracy Arm Fjord & Glacier Explorer excursion to explore glacier-covered mountains, jagged cliffs and the largest temperate rainforest in the U.S. surrounding the fjord. Royal Caribbean International: 7 Night Alaska Adventure Cruise

Hop aboard Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas for the seven-night Alaska Adventure Cruise, sailing round-trip from Seattle . This itinerary is available on several dates between May and August 2024 and features stops in the towns of Ketchikan, Sitka and Juneau, plus scenic cruising in Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier in Alaska. There's also an afternoon call in the Canadian city of Victoria. While there, book an off-roading excursion through the coastal rainforest that includes a zip line adventure. Quantum of the Seas – which holds 4,180 passengers at double occupancy and 4,905 passengers at maximum capacity – is one of the two larger Royal Caribbean ships sailing in Alaska in 2024 (Ovation of the Seas is the other). As such, it offers abundant activities and entertainment for families at sea. On board, guests can experience Ripcord by iFly (the only skydiving simulator at sea) and take in snow-capped mountain views from the FlowRider surf simulator or atop the ship's rock climbing wall. Other onboard activities include bumper cars, an escape room, an arcade, pickleball and The Silent Party (a dance party where everyone wears headphones).

At mealtime, kids will have plenty of choices for casual and quick bites, from carefully crafted hot dogs at the Dog House and specialty pies at Sorrento's Pizza to around-the-clock snacks at Café Promenade and grab-and-go fare at The Café@Two70. Celebrity Cruises: 7 Nights Alaska Hubbard Glacier

Celebrity's seven-night Alaska Hubbard Glacier itinerary is available on nine voyages between May and September 2024. The Celebrity Solstice (which holds 2,852 guests at double occupancy) sails round-trip from Vancouver and stops in the ports of Icy Strait Point, Juneau and Ketchikan in Alaska. You'll have two days of scenic cruising in the Inside Passage and around Hubbard Glacier. Either line is fine.

When you say the itinerary is exactly the same, do you mean they all visit exactly the same places? Exactly the same port times? I find that hard to believe, because as far as I know, Norwegian does not sail into Glacier Bay NP. I strongly suggest you carefully compare the itineraries side-by-side.

To be quite frank, a round trip cruise from Vancouver instead of Seattle is quite superior and nearly all in protected waters, with Seattle cruises spending a large a mount of time in open seas. Both HAL ships doing round trips from Vancouver, Volendam and Nieuw Amsterdam , are on the same very good itinerary. The reasons for recommending Vancouver sailings are contained in a Top Question seen to the right of screen on a computer, not a mobile device or app.

Just an FYI - the coastal scenery for Vancouver departures is significantly better than the Seattle departures. That is because they go through water with land on both sides for much of the time vs. the Seattle departures that go out to sea west of land. There are several options to get between Seattle and Vancouver that are reaonsably priced and it is not that far. Just something to consider, especially since you specifically mentioned scenery.

Because Seattle cruise have much further to sail, and by US law have to make a stop "in a foreign port" which they do at almost useless times in Victoria, they stay outside the Passage so can cruise faster, and generally have shorter port times than Vancouver cruises .

We will be travelling from Seattle to Vancouver in a few months on the Amtrak Cascades, which is a very scenic rail trip, and is only costing us US$37.50 ea.

Our travel was in August.... we were prepared with layers, but we did have some comfortable days..... everything we read about being prepared was valuable... we brought our gloves and hats for the days they were needed.... when you are cruising near that much ice, it can be necessary!

That is extremely unusual. Normally it takes less than a minute. Something about you must have raised suspicion. Please don't take that as an accusation you've done anything wrong, but if the CBA thinks there even *might* be an issue, he/she is duty-bound to get to the bottom of it. For example, years ago friends of mine were detained for about 6 hours coming BACK into Canada after a trip to the USA, because the husband resembled a wanted drug dealer. Very annoying and upsetting for my innocent friends, but nothing they could do except endure it like you did.

Northern lights cruises: A guide to chasing the aurora borealis at sea

Witnessing the elusive northern lights flickering across the sky might cause you to gasp because it's actually that cool. The colorful ribbons of green look like something from outer space — and they are. Auroras appear when charged particles collide with Earth's atmosphere.

Seeing the ethereal display, also known as the aurora borealis, is a bucket-list experience for many travelers. Cruise ships can take you to destinations where your chances of catching Mother Nature's special light show are improved.

Remember that seeing this phenomenon doesn't involve a cruise director flipping on a switch. Witnessing the northern lights requires clear and dark skies, late-night viewing hours, enough solar activity for the colors to appear and a big dose of luck. Keep that in mind before you invest all your cruise vacation hopes in this one experience.

Where can I see the northern lights on a cruise?

The lights are best viewed in the Northern Hemisphere and especially in locations on the so-called auroral oval, a ring zone over the polar regions. In cruising terms, that means prime viewing is in northern Alaska (which is easily accessible on cruisetours), Norway, Iceland, Arctic Canada and parts of Greenland.

Just off the auroral ring is the rest of Alaska. If you are on a cruise in the Inside Passage before April 21 or after Aug. 21 and are willing to be awake in the middle of the night (the lights tend to appear in Alaska after midnight), there's a chance you'll see the aurora borealis.

Cruise lines operating in Alaska — including Holland America , Princess Cruises and UnCruise Adventures — have northern lights sign-up sheets so you don't have to stay up all night, every night, hoping to see the display. Put your name on the list, and you'll receive a wake-up call or knock on your cabin door if there's aurora action. Plan to put on your clothes or bathrobe quickly, as the lights might only appear for a few minutes. (They could also last considerably longer.)

If you're interested in where to see the northern lights outside Alaska, the Arctic city of Alta, Norway, calls itself "The City of Northern Lights."

Alta's credentials include the world's first permanent observatory for viewing the aurora borealis; it was built there in 1899. A whole industry has sprung up around the lights, including such extravagant shore excursions as an overnight in a tent with viewing windows at a Sami dog-sledding camp. Alta is also home to the Northern Lights Cathedral, an architectural landmark.

Tromso is another Norwegian destination known as a hub for aurora borealis viewing. In late January, there's a northern lights arts festival featuring top artists in various musical genres.

Cunard Line and Hurtigruten are among the lines that visit northern Norway in the fall. However, the peak viewing season is from November to March (see below). Viking also visits but in the winter.

Iceland, Greenland and Arctic Canada appear on many expedition ships' itineraries during northern lights season, mostly early in the season in August and September. Lines with ships there include Quark Expeditions, Aurora Expeditions and Lindblad Expeditions.

When can I see the northern lights on a cruise?

Because of the late-setting and early rising midnight sun, it's way too light during the summer to see the northern lights in the destinations mentioned, but solar activity does take place year-round.

If you have a goal of seeing the aurora borealis in any of the destinations discussed here, you're best off booking as far into the fall as you can find a cruise. Norway is the only prime northern lights destination with winter cruises.

The lights like to appear in the wee hours — particularly between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. — in Alaska. An advantage in Norway is that it's dark enough to see them for a longer period during fall and winter.

Do cruisetours in Alaska improve my chances of seeing the lights?

Cruisetours in Alaska can improve your odds of seeing the aurora because they get you to Fairbanks and other inland destinations in Alaska that tend to have more cloud-free skies than in the Inside Passage, where cruise ships sail.

While you might see the lights from Denali National Park and Preserve during the viewing season, venturing to Fairbanks and points farther north will increase your odds.

Fairbanks tourism folks like to brag that if you visit for at least three nights between Aug. 21 and April 21, your chances of seeing the aurora borealis are more than 90%. (That assumes you are out actively looking during the late evening hours.)

Since your cruisetour might not visit for three nights, consider booking extra hotel nights before or after your cruise. Other things to do in this laid-back city (human population: about 100,000; moose population: 16,000) include riverboat tours, gold panning and yoga with reindeer.

You can also see the lights in Canada's Yukon Territory, including in the gold rush town of Dawson City, which is visited on some Holland America cruisetours.

Should I go on a cruise just to see the northern lights?

Yes, but remember that the phenomenon is dependent on the weather (clear skies required) and hard to predict, despite scientists' best efforts.

Viking has wintertime cruises to Norway from London specifically designed to track the lights in the Norwegian Sea during the peak viewing season — throughout the cruise but especially above the Arctic Circle in Tromso and Alta (where the sailings stop overnight). It's dark in these locales in winter, increasing your chances.

Hurtigruten is so invested in its northern lights experiences that it has hired famed northern lights astronomer Tom Kerss as its "chief aurora chaser." He will serve as an onboard expert, offering talks and workshops for passengers.

The line is so sure you will see the lights on the October-through-March sailings of its year-round 11- and 12-day Norwegian Coastal Express itineraries that the company has a guarantee called the Northern Lights Promise. If the deck's officers don't announce to all on board that the northern lights are happening, you can get a six- or seven-day Norwegian Coastal cruise for free.

Holland America to Debut New ‘Glacier Day’ in 2024

Holland America Line is debuting “Glacier Day” on its 2024 Alaska cruises and enhanced onboard experiences, according to a press release.

The new offerings include Alaska Up Close presentations as well as culinary and beverage experiences to help guests immerse themselves in the history and culture of the state. The 2024 season kicks off on April 27 from Vancouver and May 4 from Seattle.

The new Glacier Day includes sighting times, scenic commentary, presentations, informational viewing stations, photo opportunities, Dutch Pea Soup on deck, Glacier Ice cocktails, talks by Glacier Bay National Park Rangers and Huna cultural interpreters, an open bow for viewing, and more.

“Holland America Line continues to focus on bringing regional and local experiences on board every cruise, with our Alaska sailings leading the way in authentic programming, localized cuisine, and now special events like ‘Glacier Day’,” said Beth Bodensteiner, chief commercial officer of Holland America Line. “We continue to cultivate like-minded partnerships and fine-tune everything from cocktails to wildlife maps to ensure our guests are completely immersed in all facets of Alaska.”

Through September 2024, guests can embark on Holland America Line’s Alaska cruises and Cruisetours from Vancouver and Seattle aboard the Eurodam, Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam, Westerdam and Zaandam. In addition to seven-day cruises, guests can take longer 14-day cruises and a new 28-day Arctic Circle Solstice Legendary Voyage that includes 12 Alaska ports.

Every Alaska cruise includes a visit to one or more of Alaska’s iconic glacier destinations: Glacier Bay National Park, Hubbard Glacier, Dawes Glacier, and the Twin Sawyer Glaciers of Tracy Arm.

Additionally, Holland America Line is debuting a new “Killer Whale Pale Ale” on all Alaska cruises. The beer was produced in collaboration with Pike Brewing and features notes of honey, citrus and tropical fruits. Guests can also enjoy cocktails created by acclaimed bartender Sam Ross that will be featured in the bars on all Alaska ships: Juneau AK, Klondiker, PNW Penicillin, Mosquito, Midnight Sun and Frontier Champagne Flip.
