Oceania’s Nautica is a very good luxury cruise ship. It has a club-like atmosphere where everybody gets to know your name. Nautica also has great dining and stylish bars, as well as refurbished staterooms and suites. This Oceania Nautica review explains it all.

However, it’s worth noting there are pros and cons to a cruise vacation on Nautica. The cruise ship is smaller than most, so there are fewer restaurants. On the other hand, Nautica’s intimate size tends to enhance the level of service – something that can make a big difference to your cruise experience.

  • Attentive service.
  • Great food.
  • Refurbished accommodations.
  • Underwhelming entertainment.
  • Alcoholic beverages not included.

About Oceania’s Nautica

The Nautica is an R-class cruise ship in the Oceania Cruises fleet. Built in France, it first entered service in the year 2000 for Renaissance Cruises. However, within two years Nautica was only sailing charter voyages because Renaissance Cruises ceased operations. Nautica was subsequently acquired by Oceania Cruises in 2005.

The Grand Dining Room on Oceania Nautica.

Oceania Nautica is 180 m. / 593 ft. long with room for 656 guests (double occupancy). Nautica was entirely refurbished in 2022 as part of the OceaniaNEXT fleet enhancement program. Indeed, Oceania Cruises like to say Nautica is now ‘better than new’ and we agree.

All the public spaces and guest rooms have been reimagined with a smart new decor inspired by the palette of the ever-changing ocean. It strikes just the right balance between luxury and easy relaxation.

The restaurants on Nautica are among the main reasons for choosing a cruise vacation on board. While few in number, they are big on taste. However, as this Nautica review explains some dining options are better than others.

Nautica has two speciality restaurants, a main dining room and a buffet restaurant, as well as a poolside grill and a cafe.

We rate the Italian-inspired Toscana as the best restaurant on board. The Fritto di Calamari is divine with a squeeze of fresh lemon, and the home made pasta is not to be missed. The Polo Grill steakhouse serves an elegant Roasted Beetroot & Garlic Goats Cheese Napoleon as well as a mouthwatering Bone-in Veal Chop. The Grand Dining Room is the main restaurant on Nautica, serving delightful dishes like Fresh Local Mussels with Coconut & Lemongrass. We especially enjoyed the Thai Watermelon Cucumber Salad with Shiitake Mushrooms & Cashews.

There is also surprisingly good buffet dining in the Terrace Cafe where the Chef’s Market Dinner showcases cuisine from select ports of call.

In addition, Waves Grill serves casual poolside pleasers like hotdogs and burgers cooked-to-order. There is also the popular Baristas cafe on deck 5.

Nautica offers a good selection of nightlife entertainment. There is a popular string quartet in the Upper Hall most evenings and a pianist plays in Martinis bar. We really enjoyed the ambiance he added to the venue.

There are also cast shows in the Nautica Lounge theatre. Though on my review voyage these productions were somewhat underwhelming, in spite of the obvious talent of some cast members. There is also late-night entertainment in Horizons bar with performances by the Nautica band as well as karaoke and a Jukester Jukebox.

All the staterooms and suites on Nautica were entirely refurbished in 2022. They are bright and airy with a decor that reflects the tone and palette of the sea.

There are inside staterooms without a view – these are the least expensive rooms on board. Nautica also has Ocean View Staterooms that have a porthole or picture window, as well as 18 staterooms for solo cruisers. These rooms also have a picture window, however the view can be obstructed by lifeboats.

Veranda Staterooms are the most popular type of accommodation. They are modest in size, but thanks to clever design they feel bigger. It’s worth noting that the bathrooms in these staterooms have been entirely remodelled and now include a glass shower door.

An Oceania Nautica Penthouse Suite.

For those who like more space there are also large suites on Nautica. We stayed in a Penthouse Suite on our Oceania Nautica review voyage and loved the big veranda, not to mention the combined living/dining area. There are also Vista and Owner’s Suites with separate bedrooms and living areas.

Every suite has a butler, which is a real treat. The butler can manage restaurant reservations, shore excursions or even serve dinner in your suite course-by-course. Also, suite guests get other perks like afternoon canapés and a free laundry allowance, as well as a packing and unpacking service.

In spite of its size, Nautica has a great range of fitness and recreation options. In fact, the well equipped gym is bursting with space. There is also a jogging track, a putting green and shuffleboard on the open air decks.

A small pool is surrounded by a glorious teak deck with lots of comfortable sun loungers. In addition, there are wellness treatments in the Aquamar Spa + Vitality Center as well as a steam room, a spa terrace and a full service salon.

Oceania Cruises’ Nautica has the usual shipboard activities including lectures from guest speakers, bridge, trivia, mar jongg, table tennis and the Mensa Daily Quiz. There are other activities too, like dance classes, a free Captains Cocktail Celebration, Diamond Parties in the boutique and Wine Tasting (for a fee).

There are also get-togethers for friends of Dorothy, friends of Bill W and solo cruisers. They are great ways to strike up new friendships. All these activities are posted in the daily Currents newsletter.

Nautica also has a well stocked library with a magnificently painted vaulted ceiling. It’s a popular place to read and relax, especially on sea days. The library also has board games like chess, backgammon, Scrabble and Monopoly.

There are boutiques on Nautica as well. They sell jewellery, designer clothing and travel essentials.

A basic Nautica cruise fare includes all meals, even in specialty restaurants. Not to mention soft drinks, bottled water, coffee, tea and juices.

However, alcoholic beverages are not included unless you pruchase a promotional fare. For instance, Oceania Cruises Simply More fares do include a House Select Beverage Package as well as a shore excursion credit of between USD600 – 1,600 per stateroom or suite. You can upgrade to the Prestige Select package by paying an additional suppliment.

Gratuities are not included for most guests. Although they are bundled into the cruise fair for residents of Australia and New Zealand.

In addition, Nautica usually has a free shuttle bus service between the port and downtown.

There is also a self-service laundry, although guests staying in Concierge Level rooms and Suites get a free laundry allowance.

The Oceania Nautica dress code is country club casual . During the day guests wear shorts, jeans and T-shirts. However, it’s important to note that tank tops or swimsuits are not appropriate in any of the restaurants.

After 6:00pm the Nautica dress code is more dressy. Men wear slacks and a shirt (jacket optional). Women wear slacks or a skirt, and a blouse.

It’s worth noting that Nautica does not have formal nights.

Nautica is one of the most popular Oceania Cruises ships. Indeed, on my review voyage many guests had sailed on Nautica before.

Most guests range in age from 35 to 75-years old. Indeed, Nautica is not especially child-friendly.

Most guests come from the USA, but there are usually Britons, Canadians and Australians as well.

Oceania Nautica is gay-friendly.

Nautica is an excellent choice for those who like attentive service and a small-ship atmosphere. The quality of the food on board makes that choice even easier, although some may find the limited number of dining venues off-putting. All-in-all we think Nautica offers a great cruise vacation experience.

Hi Jason. We met you poolside on this cruise and enjoy reading your blog. Looking forward to seeing you again on a future cruise. Happy Sailing!

The beverage packages are very confusing and not Uuser friendly. I’d rather cruise with Seabourn or Silversea where ALL drinks are included in the cruise fare

This Cruise Is the Most Deluxe Way to Travel the Mediterranean

T he few times I traveled to the Mediterranean , I went full-on thrifty. I flew low-cost airlines or drove, booked cheap family-run hostels, and took dodgy-looking ferries to save my hard-earned bucks. That was not a bad way to travel. I visited Nice’s markets, pretended to be rich in Monaco , and sunbathed in Corfu — all without spending much. But after sailing the Mediterranean with Oceania Cruises, I don’t think it’ll be easy to go back and travel on a shoestring. One gets used to luxury pretty fast.

This past fall, I spent 12 days sailing from Greece to Türkiye, Italy, France, and Spain on Oceania’s Nautica. And let me tell you: being a passenger on this small, deluxe cruise is one of the most opulent ways to see the Mediterranean.

Oceania caters to a specific clientele: mostly wealthy couples with no children in tow. Unlike companies like Holland America, Royal Caribbean, or MSC, Oceania operates only small or mid-sized ships where the focus is comfort, luxury, and personalized experience. While large ships tend to offer more amenities, Oceania’s philosophy is that with fewer passengers, the crew is able to provide a more curated and pampered experience. On Nautica, there are no gigantic pools, roller coasters , or huge movie theater, but is an impressive spa, an espresso bar, and an elegant and well-furnished library. You get the picture.

Oceania’s fleet consists of only seven ships, all of which have a small passenger capacity:

  • Nautica : capacity of 656 passengers
  • Insignia : capacity of 656 passengers
  • Marina : capacity of 1,238 passengers
  • Regatta : capacity of 656 passengers
  • Riviera : capacity of 1,238 passengers
  • Sirena : capacity of 648 passengers
  • Vista (debuting in 2023) : capacity of 1,200 passengers

The rooms on Oceania Cruises

Nautica, refurbished in 2022, holds 656 passengers over 11 decks (only eight of which are accessible to passengers). It’s an intimate space, but large enough to not feel cramped by the other travelers on board. Most of the decks are dedicated to passenger rooms, ranging from 160-square-foot Inside Staterooms (the cheapest) to 1,000-square-foot Owner’s Suites (the most expensive).

oceania cruises nautica ship reviews

My partner and I stayed in a Deluxe Ocean View stateroom (165 square feet) for the duration of the trip, which was very comfortable and plenty big for the two of us. There was a good-size square window that did not open, and a queen-size bed, desk, stool, sofa, coffee table, TV, large closet, refrigerator stocked with soft drinks, and a (very tight) bathroom. The bathroom is fitted with Bulgari amenities, which are replenished as needed during the twice daily cleaning service.

Our Deluxe Ocean View stateroom was located on deck four, across from the ship’s medical center and just above the gangway on deck three. It’s not the most ideal spot if you want to sleep in or are very private — setting up the gangway is a loud process that starts early most mornings, and people come in and out of the medical center regularly. Make sure you choose your stateroom wisely by looking closely at the deck plan before booking.

Note that if you’re not claustrophobic and need to keep an eye on budget, Inside Staterooms are perfectly acceptable. They’re not much smaller than other staterooms but are cheaper. Also remember that you won’t spend that much time in your room – you’ll be out and about enjoying the cities where the ship stops, the shore excursions, and the great amenities onboard.

The bars and restaurants on Nautica cover all bases

Oceania likes to say it has the “finest food at sea,” and while I haven’t tried every cruise line out there and can’t vouch for this claim, meal times were certainly something my partner and I looked forward to. One thing I can say with certainty is that Oceania tries to cater to everyone with plenty of delicious and varied vegetarian and vegan options, making it easy for people with different dietary preferences to enjoy a meal together. Room service is complimentary and available 24 hours a day on all Oceania cruise ships, but if you’d rather eat outside of your room, there’s no shortage of bars and restaurants on Oceania’s Nautica.

oceania cruises nautica ship reviews

There are four bars on Nautica to suit every passenger’s taste throughout the day:

  • The Waves Bar : Located by the pool and hot tubs on deck nine, the Waves Bar serves cocktails, mocktails, beer, and soft drinks to enjoy on one of the many towel-draped lounge chairs. You can go up to the bar to order or crew members will get you your drinks so you don’t interrupt your sunbathing session.
  • Martini’s : As the name suggests, this bar serves variations on the famous cocktail favored by 007. Located on deck five, the same as the Grand Dining Room, it’s the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks.
  • Horizons : Located on deck 10, Horizons is a large space at the very bow of the ship. It has comfortable seats and huge windows for passengers to watch the scenery go by with a drink in hand. There is a self-serve tea and coffee corner if you prefer a hot beverage. Horizons is where afternoon tea takes place every afternoon.
  • Barista’s : Located on deck five by the entrance to the Great Dining Room, Barista is a specialty coffee bar with your usual cappuccinos, lattes, etc. You can choose to spike your caffeinated beverage with a long list of spirits and liqueurs like Sambuca, Baileys, or Grand Marnier. The huge golden espresso machine is a sight to see, and the complimentary sweet treats are the perfect accompaniment to the drinks served. This is a personal favorite for a post-lunch coffee or an afternoon pick-me-up.

oceania cruises nautica ship reviews

There are five restaurants on Nautica, ranging from fancy to casual:

  • The Grand Dining Room : Located on deck five, the Grand Dining Room is a ritzy affair with food served on Versace plates. For dinner, guests are required to wear elegant casual resort attire (no sneakers, no shorts, etc., but no need to bring a ball gown or a tux with you). The ambience is relaxed but the staff is very attentive, and remembers your name, how you like your food, what wine you prefer, etc. The Grand Dining Room is also open for breakfast and lunch and the dress code is much more casual at those times.
  • Polo Grill : Located on deck 10, Polo Grill is a fancy steakhouse with white tablecloths and big, comfortable leather chairs. The dress code is the same as the one in the Grand Dining Room. Polo Grill is a specialty restaurant so reservations are required. Polo Grill is only open for dinner. Vegetarian and vegan options are extremely limited or non-existent.
  • Toscana : Another specialty restaurant, Toscana focuses on sumptuous Italian cuisine. The staff offers a large selection of olive oils and balsamic vinegars at the start of your meal so you can dip the lovely Italian breads you’ve been served while waiting for your starter. The dress code is the same as the one in the Grand Dining Room. Like for the Polo Grill, it’s only open for dinner and you need to book your table in advance. Toscana has some vegetarian options, but no vegan options.
  • The Terrace Café : The Terrace Café on deck nine is technically a buffet-style restaurant, but don’t let the idea of a buffet put you off — the food, service, and location is amazing. My partner and I preferred the Terrace Café to the Grand Dining Room for its casual vibe (no dress code) and for its great outdoor patio at the stern of the ship. You can sit in the sun for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and enjoy the amazing weather and scenery of the Mediterranean, or stay inside if that’s what you prefer. The food on offer is varied and incredibly tasty (the breakfast pastries were as good as the ones you’d find in a French bakery), and the buffet style allows you to try a little of everything. While it’s a buffet, the crew is around to refresh your drinks and take away your plate.
  • The Waves Grill : Located right by the pool on deck nine, the Waves Grill is an outdoor, casual restaurant that’s ideal if you want to chill outside in between soaking sessions in one of the hot tubs or the pool. The food is simple with burgers, hot dogs, smoothies, milkshakes, and the like on offer. Like at the Terrace Café, the crew at the Waves Grill will get you drinks and take care of whatever you need.

The amenities on Nautica: quality over quantity

While the ship is small, it’s fitted with high-end amenities that are as good or better than what you’d find on much larger cruise ships.

oceania cruises nautica ship reviews

By far, the greatest spot on Nautica is the outdoor pool on deck nine. It’s not huge, but it is a big enough size to swim a little. It’s filled with salt water and is deep enough for adults to enjoy (no kiddy pool here, it’s all about the grown-ups having a good time). The pool and the super-comfy double lounge chairs set around it are the two most perfect places to hang out during a day at sea on the Mediterranean or after a day of visiting on land. Even in November, the sun was strong and I spent hours sunbathing with a book and a mocktail in between dips. Two hot tubs that each fit about four people are near the pool. I used the hot tubs at night when most other passengers were getting ready for dinner or having a tipple at Martini’s — the place was mine alone every single time.

The pool, the hot tubs, and the lounge chairs are all immaculate at all times and towels are refreshed constantly thanks to the amazing crew.

oceania cruises nautica ship reviews

The Aquamar Spa, also on deck nine, is the next best thing to the pool. The facility is spacious, very clean, and inspires relaxation. There are two steam rooms (one for men and one for women) and a large outdoor hot tub at the bow of the ship — a soak with a view if there ever was one. The spa offers a variety of traditional treatments, among which I opted for the pedicure. The staff is lovely, knowledgeable, and ever so attentive.

oceania cruises nautica ship reviews

Nautica’s library is certainly one of the best I’ve seen at sea. Unlike on other cruise ships, it’s clear that Nautica’s library was not an afterthought, but is as much a priority as the spa or the pool area. Not only are the beautiful shelves very well stocked with a few thousand books of every genre — including new releases and dozens of travel guides that match the ship’s destinations — but the space itself is incredibly well thought out. It’s meant to resemble an elegant library in a stately home, and it does the job extremely well with a painted ceiling, thick rugs, big comfy sofas and leather chairs with foot stools, window seats, a fireplace, and knick-knacks that make the space feel lived in.

For something a little different, head up to deck 11 and partake in a game of putt-putt golf, cornhole, or shuffleboard. It’s a great way to meet some fellow cruisers and pass the time when at sea. With a few cocktails in you, a game of cornhole takes on a brand new dimension.

Oceania’s shore excursions can be as upscale or simple as you’d like them

Oceania makes sure that your time on land is just as wonderful as your time at sea. The choice of shore excursions is vast with options that cover every interest and price point, including incredibly extravagant outings that cost as much as a small car.

During our 12-day trip, we made nine stops: Levos, Greece; Istanbul, Türkiye (for two days); Izmir, Türkiye; Messina, Naples, Rome, and Genoa, Italy; Monaco; Marseille, France; and Barcelona. Being much too ambitious, my partner and I booked an excursion for eight of the nine stops, an idea which quickly revealed itself to be a mistake. You’re on vacation and supposed to relax, therefore you should not book yourself solid every time you have a couple of hours to spare. Remember to give yourself some time to do your own thing at your own pace. That may mean going for a quick stroll around Izmir or staying on the ship to lounge by the pool while everyone else is traipsing around Marseille.

oceania cruises nautica ship reviews

After testing out various forms of shore excursions with Oceania, I would highly recommend long guided visits. Both our eight-hour guided visit of “The Best of Istanbul” and six-hour guided tour of “Ephesus & Terrace House” were the best guided visits we ever had thanks to incredibly knowledgeable, flexible, and experienced guides. Granted they are pricey, but if you can afford one excursion, make it one that’s with a local expert. (Except the seven-hour guided Mt. Etna 4X4 Expedition, which is very much not worth your money.)

Oceania, in collaboration with local tour bus companies, offers Hop On Hop Off bus tours, but the price is a little high for what’s offered. Instead, hop in the shuttle bus that will take you from the ship to the city center and purchase your own Hop On Hop Off bus ticket for a fraction of the price. You’ll be in the same Hop On Hop Off bus as your fellow cruisers, but you’ll have saved over $100. Almost every stop on shore has a shuttle bus (or a tender) for people to get into town and visit independently — just make sure you’re back on time for the last ride to the ship and you’ll be fine.

Nice itinerary, crew and food

Mar 30th, 2024

This was a very nice itinerary. Those looking for an opportunity to see New Zealand got a taste of 5 very nice ports. The French Polynesian ports are nice, but I had seen them before and chose to save my excursion money for the ports I hadn't visited. It was unfortunate that we missed some ports and we had very rough seas for three days and rough seas for two. The captain did everything in his power to navigate around it, but activities had to be cancelled or postponed due to the rough seas.

Incredible cruise. Great ports of call. Very helpful staff. Fine dining. Relaxing causing. Nice ship.

Oceania Disaster

Feb 12th, 2024

Don’t go on Oceania Nautica. Yes the food is excellent but being stuck on this small ship with no port stops,There is nothing to do. As we were told by the senior staff we shouldn’t have spent our hard earned money on this once in a life time cruise. With that kind of attitude by this billion dollar company I am surprised and disappointed that they are still. In business.

The weather was unpredictable

Feb 10th, 2024

The weather, obviously, did not cooperate, and the Captain did everything he could to make sure we were safe and visited new area. (Hiva Oa). Made the best of it, and Oceania came through.

Oceania once again was a wonderful cruise. Unfortunately, due to medical reasons we had to get off in Fiji and fly back to the US.

Jan 26th, 2024

The cruise was good, although the weather was very warm. We will remember what hemisphere we are traveling in the next time we book,

Wonderful experience with a few disappointments

Jun 23rd, 2023

I sailed on Azamara last November/December…i much preferred this cruise line ..there was more connectivity ie white nights , Azamazing on shore events, organized activities… The food was way better on Azamara

could have been better

Apr 25th, 2023

additional to above the tours were a big disappointment Bad timing all off together and most back at same time with one gangplank and old guests not good Too many in groups some poor quality guides with poor english

You can’t trust them.

Apr 16th, 2023

Our first time on Oceania will be our last mostly due to “destination services” because of their unprofessional poor communication, incorrect information and no notification of significant time changes. We booked air with them and paid for upgraded service but when United separated our seats I was left to fend for myself to fix it. Upon in arrival Japan we were told our transfer to ship would be delayed a 1/2 hour to wait for 30 other guests. Then told another 1/2 hour. 1:45 minutes later standing around the airport we left for the ship. Many emails told us no Covid test was needed then we were subjected and charged 40 dollars for Covid tests. But worse, every single one of our 10 excursions had significant time changes with only fine print time notifications. No bold lettering, No announcement or any type of warning. This caused us to miss a tour by 1 whole hour with no help to join the tour in progress and no refund of 500 dollars. The guides during excursions in Japan were sub par - not pointing things to see etc Tours ran long causing us to almost miss dinner reservations at specialty restaurants. Needless stressful. Untrustworthy. Unprofessional. Any time we asked for information, that information was wrong. We’re told one thing it ended being totally the opposite. They ruined my shirt with their included laundry service for concierge level amenity. There was no special concierge on nautica and no concierge lounge. Just better dinner seating and ruined laundry. No AC in gym and in room AC would shut off automatically at night while sleeping. Food was good, service was good and wine was good. But you just can’t trust their schedule and you can’t make plans. The hotel extension was changed multiple times. We did not know which hotel until day before making me lose birthday dinner reservations at another hotel and sky view ticket’s because they changed the entire extension tour schedule in Tokyo. BTW do not stay at Prince Tower hotel. It’s a dump. The Hilton was fine.

Great Suez Canal Trip

Dec 12th, 2022

I would highly recommend this cruise to someone that wants to explore the middle east in significant safety and luxury. We passed through a high pirate risk area for over three days. We took on specially trained security crew for that period of the cruise, and the ship was blacked out at night to help make us harder to see. The Middle East is a very unique are of the world and someplace to explore with a very open mind. We loved the trip!

Disappointing Oceania Cruise

Oct 1st, 2022

40% of our excursions / ports either missed what they described, we disappointing or were cancelled. Staff on the ship were great except for the destination services team (to many issues to expand on but they would get zero stars.) Food was decent however for the price paid, we would have expected better.

Oceania Nautica Itineraries

Oceania nautica review, review of oceania nautica.

The 2000-built (as "R Five") Oceania Nautica cruise ship is the fleet's third R-class liner, with sisterships Regatta , Insignia and Sirena (former Ocean Princess). Oceania ship Nautica was drydock-refurbished in 2020 (June) by the company's OceaniaNEXT fleet renovation project (2019-2020).

The vessel (IMO number 9200938) is currently Marshall Islands /France- flagged (MMSI 538001665) and registered in Majuro .

History - construction and ownership

Oceania Cruises is a US passenger shipping company and luxury travel brand owned by NCLH-Norwegian (shipowner), Between April 2007 and September 2014, the company (as part of "Prestige Cruise Holdings") was owned by Apollo Management LP - one of the world's largest private investment equity funds. Since September 2014, Oceania and the sister company RSSC-Regent are owned by NCLH - acquired at a total cost of USD 3 billion. Oceania ships offer luxury cruises with relatively shorter itineraries, as well as Around The World voyages up to 180 days in length.

Oceania Nautica cruise ship

The 700-passenger ship Nautica keeps the strategy of Oceania Cruises to create an atmosphere far more remindful of an English country house hotel, not to a cruise vessel. There is an appropriate range of amenities, yet the ambience is comfortable and intimate. The decor is quite similar fleetwide, and all ships feature nice dining venues, Mandara Spa and a cyber lab. Nautica's crew members routinely rotate between the 3 vessels, so a returning cruiser on any of them is probably to recognize friendly faces.

Decks and Cabins

Oceania Nautica staterooms (349 total, in 16 grades) include 62 Suites, 170 Balcony, 89 Oceanview (including 14 single-occupancy) and 28 Inside cabins. Most staterooms (66%) are Balcony and sized 175 ft2 / 16 m2. Most cabin balconies are smaller (sized 45 ft2 / 4 m2).

The largest accommodations are the Owners Suites (620 ft / 58 m2 plus 345 ft2 / 32 m2 terrace).

The boat has 11 decks , of which 9 are passenger-accessible and 5 with cabins.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

Nautica guests take advantage of the flexibility of 4 open-seating dining venues. The Grand Dining Room serves Continental cuisine. it is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Alternative, reservations-required options are Toscana, which offers gourmet Italian food, and the steak house Polo Grill. The buffet restaurant Terraces serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is transformed into "Tapas on the Terrace" at night for a relaxed atmosphere. All dining venues have bars, and there is no cover charge. In addition, a poolside grill offers hamburgers, sandwiches and salads at lunchtime. There is also a pizzeria in the buffet area. The observation lounge Horizons serves afternoon tea. Room service is available 24 hours.

Follows the complete list of Nautica restaurants and food bars.

  • Grand Dining Room (complimentary 340-seat restaurant for open seating Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner; offers French-inspired dishes, and menus change daily)
  • Waves Grill (casual dining fast-food bar; serves the pool deck area with made-to-order daily specialities and gelato ice cream)
  • Terrace Cafe & Bar (casual buffet restaurant, complimentary; open for breakfast and lunch; features indoor and outdoor sitting areas; the Terrace Bar serves as a small pizzeria as well; the Terrace Cafe transforms into “Tapas On The Terrace” at night serving traditional Mediterranean cuisine)
  • Toscana (96-seat Italian fine dining restaurant, dinner-only, reservations-only, complimentary; offers traditional Italian cuisine)
  • Polo Grill (96-seat Steakhouse restaurant, complimentary; reservations required).

Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport

Just as travelers approach the red carpet that snakes out onto the dock from the gangway of Nautica, they hear the strains of "When the Saints Come Marching In," by the ship's Orchestra, tucked up on Deck 5's promenade. A banner hung over the entrance greets "Welcome Home." All guests are offered fresh juices and hot towels. There is an immediate change in spirit as the cruisers stand up straighter, smile genuinely and shake off their weariness.

Oceania Nautica Wiki

Oceania Nautica cruise ship is the line's third vessel of the Renaissance/Regatta-class. Her sisters in the fleet are the Oceania ships Insignia , Regatta and Sirena (Ocean Princess) . Regarding the marine vessel-class, Nautica is also related to the Azamara ships Azamara Journey , Azamara Quest , Azamara Onward (Pacific Princess) , Azamara Pursuit (Adonia) .

MS Nautica was ordered and operated as "R Five" by Renaissance Cruises in the period 2000-2003. After the Renaissance line's bankruptcy, Royal Caribbean (RCCL) bought the ship and transferred her to Pullmantur Cruises fleet (2004-2005). In 2005, after a major refurbishment, she was transferred to Oceania under her current name "ms Nautica".

The ship's namesake is STENA LINE 's 1986-built cruiseferry Stena Nautica .

Making the news as one of the world's most strange cruise ship accidents ever, in 2008 (Nov 30) the Oceania ship Nautica was attacked by Somalian pirates. It happened in the Gulf of Aden (Arabian Sea) while the boat was en route from Egypt to Oman (Safaga to Salah). The vessel was fired at eight times but outran the attack without any injuries or damage.

On September 2, 2014, NCLH-Norwegian purchased the company "Prestige Cruise Holdings" (owner of Oceania and RSSC-Regent Seven Seas ) for USD 3,025 billion, thus becoming the official owner of all vessels in both fleets.

The Apollo Group company provides all Oceania ships with the entire onboard hotel product and services. This includes administration, food staff (preparation and serving), housekeeping staff, also the vessel's provisioning and crewing. Other cruise lines served by Apollo are Thomson UK (Marella Cruises) and RSSC-Regent .

Oceania Nautica refurbishment 2022 review

Nautica ship's OceaniaNEXT refurbishment was originally scheduled to take place in 2020 (June 8-21) at CNM-Chantier Naval de Marseille ( Marseille France ). However, due to the Coronavirus crisis, the drydocking was postponed for 2022. For this project were planned the following changes.

  • New public spaces include open-floor design Lobby with Reception Hall (lower level) and Upper Hall (2nd level). They are connected via Grand Staircase (decorated with railings and balustrades) and feature a large crystal chandelier (with hanging pieces of hand-painted glass).
  • Grand Dining Room (aft on Deck 5) received new premium dining furniture (leather chairs with metallic bronze threading) and new crystal chandelier.
  • Martinis (piano bar lounge on Deck 5) was redesigned, new silver-white marble bar top and walnut paneling were added.

  • All cabin bathrooms were overhauled and received new tiling, surfaces, fixtures, designer accessories, vanities, glass shower enclosures.
  • Penthouse-Vista-Owner suite bathrooms were enlarged and upgraded with Carrara marble, onyx and polished granite tops.

Oceania's 2018-2022 refurbishment projects (ships Insignia, Nautica, Regatta, Sirena) cost the company ~USD 100 million.
