2020-21 PGA Tour FedEx Cup points list standings
The FedEx Cup is seen on the 18th fairway during the final round of the 2020 Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club last September.
Patrick Cantlay came into the Tour Championship in first place in the FedEx Cup standings, spotting himself two strokes on Tony Finau and four shots on Jon Rahm, the golfer who would be his closest challenger. In the end, the advantage proved critical as Cantlay would win on Sunday at East Lake by a slim one-shot margin over Rahm. A closing 69 helped the 29-year-old California native claim the $15 million up for grabs as the winner of the season-long FedEx Cup title. Cantlay shot a 11-under 269 during the week, but with his 10 under start he finished at 21 under for the week. Rahm shot a 14-under 266 over 72 holes at East Lake, which with his six-under start left him at 20 under for the tournament
The 2020-21 schedule had a total of 47 regular-season FedEx Cup events, including 14 that were postponed or canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For all regular-season PGA Tour events, 500 FedEx Cups are awarded to the winner, with points also being earned by every player making the cut. In World Golf Championships and elevated invitationals, 550 FedEx Cup points go to the winner, while 600 points are given to the champion of the four majors and the Players. Lastly, 300 points are given to the winner of any event played in the same week as a major or World Golf Championship event. Three tournaments (the U.S. Open, Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship and the Masters) were played in the fall portion of the season in 2020 and were again be played in their traditional dates in 2021.
Here is the final FedEx Cup points list for the season.

LIV Golf's Talor Gooch Will Not Try to Qualify for the U.S. Open
A number of players from the Saudi-backed league will attempt to play their way into the U.S. Open but not LIV's top player from 2023.
- Author: Bob Harig
Several LIV Golf League players will attempt to make the U.S. Open field via final qualifying next month.
Talor Gooch won’t be one of them.
The top player on LIV Golf in 2023 who won three times and captured the season-long points race said during a news conference in Singapore on Thursday that he would not be taking part.
He did not give a reason.
Gooch appeared alongside Smash GC teammates Brooks Koepka, Graeme McDowell and Jason Kokrak, and they were all asked if they would attempt to qualify for the U.S. Open, which will conduct 36-hole qualifiers around the country on May 3.
Both McDowell and Kokrak said they would not only attempt to qualify for the U.S. Open, but for the British Open as well—which will have final qualifying two weeks prior to the championship.
🏆🇺🇸 World #624 Talor Gooch on if he plans to play in a U.S. Open qualifying event: “I’m not.” Should the USGA give LIV Golf’s Talor Gooch a special exemption? pic.twitter.com/enhnD2SIwh — NUCLR GOLF (@NUCLRGOLF) May 2, 2024
A total of 35 players from LIV are scheduled to play in final qualifying. Koepka, a two-time major winner and the reigning PGA champion , is exempt.
Gooch simply said: “I’m not.” And offered no explanation.
The one-time PGA Tour winner has been outspoken about not being included in the major championships.
Last year, he earned his way into the Masters and the British Open having finished in the top 30 in the 2022 PGA Tour FedEx Cup standings. But Gooch was miffed that the U.S. Open changed its rules to state that the same exemption would only go to a player “eligible” for the season-ending Tour Championship. Having gone to LIV Golf, Gooch was not eligible.
Earlier this year, Gooch made headlines when he said: “If Rory McIlroy goes and completes his (career) Grand Slam without some of the best players in the world, there is just going to be an asterisk. It’s just the reality.”
LIV Golf does not receive Official World Golf Ranking points for its events and many of its players have plummeted in the rankings while not earning points. Gooch, who was top 50 in the world around this time last year, has sunk to 624th in the OWGR. He is ranked 41st by Data Golf, which includes LIV tournaments.
He tied for 34th at the Masters last year and then missed the cut at the PGA Championship. He did not attempt to qualify for the U.S. Open and then missed the cut at The Open.
Gooch has no victories so far this year with LIV Golf but does have three top 10s. He is the defending champion of this week’s event in Singapore.
Among the LIV golfers scheduled to compete in final qualifying for the U.S. Open are Sergio Garcia, Patrick Reed and Henrik Stenson.

2024 LIV Golf Singapore: Brooks Koepka holds three-stroke lead in final start before PGA Championship defense
Koepka eyes his fourth wanamaker trophy in a couple weeks but will first try to secure another liv golf title.
The PGA Championship is right around the corner which can only mean one thing — Brooks Koepka is lurking. The five-time major champion and three-time PGA Championship winner leads by three shots over four players heading into the final round of LIV Golf Singapore. The event will mark the final time Koepka tees it up in the competitive setting before defending his title in two week's time at Valhalla Golf Club.
"I played really good," Koepka said. "Ball-striking is finally starting to come around. The putter is heating up a little bit. I think that's just due to seeing some better golf shots. Just kind of finding my own little swagger. Pleased with the way I've played so far and just need to go another good round."
Koepka entered the second round in Singapore one stroke off the lead of Sebastian Munoz after opening with a 5-under 66. He immediately got to work rolling in birdies from holes Nos. 4-6. A heavy dose of pars defined the middle portion of his round before Koepka caught fire to end.
Four birdies in Koepka's final six holes put the finishing touches on a second-round 64 and put him at 12 under and three clear of a chasing pack that includes Thomas Pieters, Adrian Meronk, Abraham Ancer and Matthew Wolff. A win on Sunday would mark Koepka's first of the year and his fourth on LIV Golf.
"There's a lot of people that put time and effort into making sure that I play good," Koepka said. "I think Augusta was a good wake-up call. I've had to really grind since then. It'll be nice to see -- hopefully. My son hasn't seen me finish better than about 45th. I was reminded of that on the way over here, to Adelaide. Hopefully get a little better result."
As is always the case with Koepka, one eye is on the championship in Louisville, Kentucky in a couple weeks. The PGA Championship has been the major championship for the major championship savant throughout his career. Boasting three victories — including last year at Oak Hill — and three other top fives in 11 appearances, Koepka has made it clear that the second major championship of the season goes through him.
This was not true at the first major championship last month as Koepka struggled to a T45 finish at the Masters. Switching between putters during tournament preparation and without his best form across the 72 holes of competition, he left Augusta National disappointed. This disappointment has since grown into a chip on Koepka's shoulder — a chip which should scare the hell out of everyone else.
"I guess I've gone back-to-back at the PGA and the U.S. Open. Hopefully looking to do it again," Koepka said. "I don't know if it's ever been done, but it would be kind of a cool thing. I've tried to three-peat. Not very good at it, out here and at the majors. I think the embarrassment of Augusta really kicked things into overdrive for me and really having to put my nose down and grind it a little bit harder and having to look my team in the eye and apologize. I'm not looking to do that again."

Matt Wallace fires 63 at PGA Tour's CJ Cup Byron Nelson
- Associated Press
McKINNEY, Texas -- Matt Wallace was relegated to watching the Masters amid a self-described "terrible" season when he found himself pondering what makes some of the best golfers in the world so good.
Asked if Scottie Scheffler was among the players he was watching, Wallace stumbled over his words just a bit.
"Well, him, but, I mean, so good that it's difficult to take a lot from him because he's playing unbelievable golf," Wallace said. "It's not as realistic for everyone else out there."
Well, maybe Wallace can take advantage of the world No. 1 sitting out his hometown tournament awaiting the birth of his first child.
The one-time PGA Tour winner shot an 8-under 63 for a one-shot lead over seven players in the first round of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson on Thursday.
Taiga Semikawa , a 23-year-old from Japan playing on a sponsor exemption, settled for 64 after a three-putt par on the par-5 18th just before a rain-delayed round with preferred lies was suspended by darkness with nine players on the course.
Taylor Pendrith , Alex Noren , Chesson Hadley , Jake Knapp , Davis Riley and Kelly Kraft also were at 7 under at TPC Craig Ranch, just north of Scheffler's hometown of Dallas.
Defending champion Jason Day was in a large group trailing by three after he and Jordan Spieth , the biggest local favorite with Scheffler absent, struggled down the stretch playing in the same threesome. Spieth was 3 under.
Brad Hopfinger , a 35-year-old making his PGA Tour debut, was two shots behind Wallace along with Ben Kohles , Alex Smalley and Hayden Buckley .
Wallace, who has missed the cut five times and doesn't have a top-10 finish in 11 tournaments this year, birdied five of the first six holes and capped his bogey-free, career-low round with a tap-in birdie on the 18th.
The 34-year-old Englishman has found himself taking mental notes about the likes of young Swede Ludvig Åberg , who played at Texas Tech but is among 27 of the top 30 players skipping the Nelson with a $20 million signature event, the Wells Fargo Championship, and the PGA Championship coming the next two weeks.
"What I'm seeing from a lot of them, especially the younger guys, younger than me -- I'm not too old, but younger than me -- they're so focused in their shot and not worrying about the outcome or what's out there," said Wallace, who won in the Dominican Republic a little more than a year ago.
Day and Spieth both stumbled with bogeys on the par-5 fifth hole, their 14th of the day. Day had two birdies and a bogey over the final four holes, including the par-5 ninth. Spieth could only par the finishing hole and was 1 over on the par 5s.
"It's a very gettable golf course," Spieth said. "I just played the easy holes poorly. That was kind of the story of the day."
Spieth is still seeking his first victory in his 12th appearance at an event in which he debuted by contending as a 16-year-old amateur in 2010. Day got his first PGA Tour win when Spieth was making those headlines, then ended a five-year victory drought last year.
The 30-year-old Spieth missed last year's Nelson because of a wrist injury. He was the runner-up in 2022.
Rain delayed the start by an hour and remains in the forecast through the weekend. If the rain stays away, players could have minimal wind on a soft course that has surrendered among the most birdies on tour in its four years as the home of the Nelson.
"I'm not out of it, but certainly you want to stay within two or three of the lead as you get through the first couple rounds," Spieth said. "Doesn't look like we're going to get a ton of wind or anything, so I am going to have to really make it up, because there will be a lot of guys shooting low scores."
Raul Pereda aced the 236-yard seventh hole and shot 68, as did Kris Kim in the tour debut of the 16-year-old from England whose South Korean-born mom played on the LPGA Tour in the 1990s.
Playing on a sponsor exemption in the first year of the Nelson carrying the name of the South Korean company CJ Group, Kim chipped in for eagle at No. 9 to finish an up-and-down round that included five birdies and four bogeys.
"First couple holes the nerves were definitely there, but as we got on, it was just playing golf," said Kim, who went undefeated in the Junior Ryder Cup last year and is the first amateur sponsored by CJ Group.
