Prima volta che vado a vedere i powerwolf. Era un concerto a 3 band, dove il biglietto non era stato acquistato per vedere principalmente loro. Già di per sé le altre due band sono state pazzesche, ma con i powerwolf si è sfiorata la serata perfetta, rovinata soltanto da qualche imbecille fuori luogo. I powerwolf ci hanno regalato uno spettacolo indimenticabile, con uno show narrante una santa messa del metal, dove il loro scopo era prepararci a delle crociate di conversione ai non metallari. Interazione col pubblico incredibile, argomentando ogni singola canzone allo scopo dello show. Performance live sublime, sia di Attila (il cantante) che del resto della band. Sicuramente li tornerò a vedere, inneggiano alla holy metal mess

POWERWOLF: nel 2024 nuovo disco e una data in Italia con HAMMERFALL e WIND ROSE

I metaller tedeschi Powerwolf hanno annunciato il loro più grande tour da headliner fino ad oggi, con concerti che si svolgeranno nelle più grandi arene d’Europa e con una produzione senza precedenti. Sono stati annunciati un totale di 16 spettacoli, tra cui una data in Italia il 14 Ottobre 2024 , in cui saranno accompagnati dai metaller svedesi Hammerfall e le stelle nascenti Wind Rose .

Ma non è tutto! Dopo l’enorme successo dell’album ‘Call Of The Wild’ del 2021, i Powerwolf torneranno in pista anche con un nuovo disco, previsto per il 2024 e intitolato ‘Wolfsnächte’ . Alcuni dei brani che lo comporranno saranno presentati durante la tournèe!

L’appuntamento in Italia con Powerwolf , Hammerfall e Wind Rose è fissato all’ Alcatraz di Milano per Lunedì 14 Ottobre 2024 . I biglietti saranno disponibili dalle ore 10:00 di Venerdì 10 Novembre prossimo tramite i punti vendita abituali.

Excellent show for Powerwolf's first concert in Lyon !!! Great performance and good interaction with the public. I spent a very good time at Le Transbordeur ! Concerning Amaranthe, they warmed up the hall though they were less impressive. I missed most of Kissing Dynamite's show due to the long time queueing outside, but eventually got to hear them live, which was nice.

Extraordinary performance, they engaged the audience perfectly, the decor was great and the make-up was on point. The music sounded better than the recorded version, which is rare. Great show, I would definitely go again if they came somewhere close to Barcelona. 5/5

Ive been to quit some concerts already, but nothing can beat this one. The live singing, the act, the entire performance was insanely well done. If only the 2 hours lasted longer. 10/10 would go again, Powerwolf is fucking amazing!!

An absolutely fantastic night, Powerwolf were incredible, they are a very energetic band and have great crowd interaction, I would definitely recommend seeing them, looking forward to their set at Bloodstock 2019!

My first time of seeing these guys and WOW! They didn't disappoint! A truly AWESOME band live both musically and theatrically! The whole set set kicked ass from start to finish! A great night! Thank you!!

It was awesome. I recommend to go to any powerwolf show, you will not regret it, believe me it is worth it. At least here in Germany they had amazing interactions with the public.

Wolfsnächte Tour 2024

Metre-high columns of fire, dazzling lighting effects, massive pyrotechnics. The guys from Powerwolf really let it rip at their gigs. Visually and acoustically. The masters of heavy metal are now back on the road and once again create an ecstatic community event on their tour in interaction with the audience. The grim quintet from Saarbrücken will rock the Olympic Hall on 25 October 2024.

It will be an anniversary year for Powerwolf. The band was founded in 2004 around guitarists and bassists Benjamin Buss and David Vogt, who have been performing under their pseudonyms as the brothers Matthew and Charles Greywolf ever since. Also with the band since then: singer Attila Dorn aka Karsten Brill, and organist and keyboardist Christian Jost, on stage aka Falk Maria Schlegel. On the drums since 2011: Roel van Helden. And that's really his name.

So 20 years of concentrated metal power, 20 years in which the titles of the albums alone revealed the spiritual direction of the lyrics. Be it "Lupus Dei", "Bible of the Beast" or "Blood of the Saints". Whether "Preachers of the Night" or "The Sacrament of Sin", their two number 1 albums from 2013 and 2018. The specialist magazine "Metal Hammer" once wrote about an interview with Matthew Greywolf: "Fun snarl". Powerwolf are now bringing two bands with them as special guests on their "Wolfsnächte Tour": The Swedish power metal old masters from Hammerfall - and the Italian combo Wind Rose, who also call themselves the "Dwarves of Heavy Metal", inspired by the Tolkien novels. It will be a fantastic evening on 25 October 2024, with lots of fire, lots of show. And lots of music.

POWERWOLF Announce Biggest European Headline Tour to Date and New Studio Album in 2024

POWERWOLF  reign as Germany’s most actively successful artist without a shadow of a doubt. After bidding farewell to their fans last week with five celebrated shows and a long live break, the anticipation for their next live shows in October 2024 is rising now!

In trademark  POWERWOLF  style, the Platinum-selling, award-winning, #1 charting band is upping their game once again – not only announcing their biggest headline tour to date with shows taking place at the biggest arenas in Europe but also a new studio album for 2024. POWERWOLF announce 2024 North American tour

Last year, German power-metal giants Powerwolf  came across the pond to North America for the first time  and played a series of sold-out shows on our continent. In 2024, they'll be making their mighty return. 

Later this summer, Powerwolf be embark on a North American headlining tour with support from Canadian power-heshers Unleash the Archers. 

The run begins August 29th in Los Angeles and concludes in Quebec on September 15th. 

"Last year, our debut in America and Canada left us spellbound, facing sold-out venues and an incredible crowd," Powerwolf shared in a statement. 

"The energy was unreal, and we didn't want to miss it again. It's going to be sheer madness! This tour marks the official live debut of songs from our upcoming album – don't miss the excitement!"

POWERWOLF Announces First-Ever North American Shows

German metallers POWERWOLF will play their very first North American shows in early 2023. POWERWOLF will perform on February 23 at The Palladium, located in New York City's Times Square, and on February 24 at Montreal, Quebec, Canada's MTELUS.

Tickets for both dates go on sale this Friday, October 7 at 10:00 a.m. local time.

POWERWOLF states: "North America, your calls over the years have not gone unheard! The holy heavy metal mass will finally be celebrated next year for the very first time in New York City and Montreal! Let's make sure that it will be an experience that neither you, nor we as POWERWOLF will ever forget!"

This past March, POWERWOLF released a new single, "Sainted By The Storm" . The single's epic and very detailed cover artwork was once again created by Zsofia Dankova , who has been creating all of the band's artworks during the last years.

"Sainted By The Storm" is available in strictly limited CD digipak as well as digitally. As a special bonus, an orchestral version of the song, as well as an instrumental version is available in all formats.

The story of POWERWOLF , beginning in 2004, reads like a true fairytale, but is the result of the most hard-working and entertaining live band on the heavy metal planet. POWERWOLF has not only received plenty of gold and platinum awards to date, but numerous releases have entered the official German album charts at the top position of No. 1. With "Blessed & Possessed" (2015), POWERWOLF achieved gold status (in the Czech Republic) for the first time, while its predecessor, "Preachers Of The Night" (2013),hit the official German album charts at No. 1, and the incredible DVD, "The Metal Mass" (2016),came in at No. 1 of the German DVD chart. POWERWOLF 's latest magnum opus, "The Sacrament Of Sin" (2018),again entered the album charts at No. 1. The accompanying, almost completely sold-out "Wolfsnächte" headline tour — in which POWERWOLF headlined large venues with their phenomenal stage performances — became a single major triumph, as well as the numerous summer festival shows in which crowds were thrilled and completely captivated by the wolves and their unique, (un)holy metal mass. In the end of 2021, POWERWOLF celebrated "The Monumental Mass" — a streaming event that set new standards.

Following a tenth-anniversary reissue of POWERWOLF 's "Blood Of The Saints" album last year and in order to celebrate the 15th anniversary of POWERWOLF 's second studio album "Lupus Dei" (from 2007),a special deluxe edition will be released on November 11, 2022 via Metal Blade Records . The special reissue includes (demo) bonus material as well as new front cover artwork by Dankova . The reissue's street date also matches the start date of POWERWOLF 's comprehensive "Wolfsnächte 2022" tour across Europe with DRAGONFORCE and WARKINGS as support acts.

Favorites for the General Classification of the Giro d'Italia 2024 | Tadej Pogacar? These gentlemen also dream of the pink jersey

Is there a more beautiful jersey in cycling than the pink one? Tadej Pogacar must have thought the same thing, as after winning two yellow jerseys in the Tour de France, the Slovenian is finally making his debut in the Giro d'Italia this year. The top favorite? Favorites for the General Classification of the Giro d'Italia 2024

To compile this list, (former) editors at IDLProCycling.com were asked for their top ten in response to the question: "Who is most likely to win the Giro d'Italia?" Each top ten was assigned points as follows: 12 points for first place, 10 for second place, and then 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 point respectively. For each rider, the total points received were converted into a percentage of the maximum points possible. This percentage is indicated next to each rider. This helps give a clearer view of how the odds stack up according to IDLProCycling.com!

Antonio Tiberi/Juan Pedro López - Bahrain Victorious/Lidl-Trek: 17/108 points (15.7%)

We start off with a tie in the rankings. Antonio Tiberi appeared seven times on our lists, but often in the ninth or tenth spot. The 22-year-old Italian will chase a classification for the first time in a grand tour for Bahrain Victorious, and why would he not be able to surprise everyone? His third place in the Tour of the Alps was impressive. Top five is his goal, but with us, he just has to make do with narrowly making the top ten.

The same applies to Juan Pedro López, the winner of the Tour of the Alps and a former wearer of the pink jersey for several days. Representing Lidl-Trek, the 26-year-old Spaniard seems to have carte blanche to try again. His stage win in the Alps—where he dramatically dropped everyone—promises much. The problem for him are the time trial kilometers, so he must go on the offensive in his beloved mountains for a top ranking.

Damiano Caruso - Bahrain Victorious: 18/108 points (16.7%)

At number nine, we find Damiano Caruso, Tiberi's teammate at Bahrain Victorious and, of course, the runner-up of the 2021 Giro! That same year, he also won a stage in the Vuelta. However, the Tour de France in 2022 and 2023 didn't go as well for him.

Can he do it again at the age of 36? Or will it be more about chasing stage wins and supporting the new generation? His results in 2024 haven't been very spectacular, but neither were they before his second place in 2021. Caruso is tough, never count him out!

Luke Plapp - Jayco-AlUla: 18/108 points (16.7%)

Scoring the same as Caruso but placed a spot higher, Luke Plapp has caught the attention of several editors who believe he could be this Giro’s surprise package. One even placed him third! Why? Plapp finished sixth in Paris-Nice and seems to be climbing better than ever. Moreover, the Australian from Jayco-AlUla is an outstanding time trialist.

His switch from INEOS Grenadiers to Jayco is paying off, although he recently mentioned that the team's focus for the classification is on Eddie Dunbar. The Irishman isn't on our list, but Plapp is. He’s poised to surprise us. The Giro has often been a platform for riders to come into their own. Maybe this is the moment for the 23-year-old Plapp.

Daniel Felipe Martínez - BORA-hansgrohe: 39/108 points (36.1%)

Another man who, after a surprising departure from INEOS, has been tearing up the streets is Daniel Felipe Martinez. He beat Remco Evenepoel twice (!) in explosive finishes at the Tour of the Algarve. And let’s not forget his role as a domestique for the overall winner Egan Bernal in 2021, where he finished fifth in the Giro.

At BORA-hansgrohe, this year is all about the Tour de France. They are sending Primoz Roglic, Jai Hindley, and Aleksandr Vlasov to focus on it. This gives Martinez free rein to fully explore his potential as a GC contender. If he's really on point, he can compete with the best. He has, after all, also won the GC in the Dauphiné and the Tour of the Basque Country in his career.

Cian Uijtdebroeks - Visma | Lease a Bike: 46/108 points (42.6%)

At Visma | Lease a Bike, since December, they have had one goal: to make a splash in the Giro! Despite losing Wout van Aert and Wilco Kelderman to injuries, there remains more than enough quality to compete for stage wins every day. Olav Kooij, Jan Tratnik, Attila Valter... Impressive, to say the least.

One rider who consistently sneaks under the radar is Cian Uijtdebroeks. The young Belgian's switch from BORA to Visma last winter has been much discussed, and the Giro might shed light on whether this move was beneficial. Considering his eighth-place finish in a competitive Vuelta in 2023, he’s expected to perform even better in this Giro... We're eager to see what he does!

Thymen Arensman - INEOS Grenadiers: 54/108 points (50.0%)

Thymen Arensman is the first and only Dutchman on this list (most of our editors are Dutch), but he's no ordinary competitor. Born to race for the GC, Arensman might not typically finish in the top three of explosive finales, but he consistently secured a strong top ten spot in both the 2022 Vuelta and 2023 Giro.

Having finished sixth twice in a grand tour, he's aiming higher now. Let’s say at least top five. Geraint Thomas is the declared leader at INEOS Grenadiers, but the 24-year-old Arensman is a dangerous dark horse. After finishing fifth in the Algarve and sixth in the Tirreno, and with a year at INEOS under his belt, it's time for him to harvest the fruits of his labor.

Ben O'Connor - Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale: 61/108 points (56.5%)

We're slowly moving towards the podium, but according to our editorial team, it might just be out of reach for Ben O'Connor. Nonetheless, the Australian from Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale is having an excellent season. There's no reason to believe he can't continue this form into the Giro.

The 28-year-old O'Connor is rock solid in the mountains and has improved significantly in time trials over the past few years. He won a stage in the 2020 Giro and followed up a year later with a stage win and an eighth-place finish in the final classification in the Tour de France. 2023 was marred by crashes and injuries, but in 2024, O'Connor has already impressed with a second-place finish in the UAE Tour and the Tour of the Alps, and fifth in the Tirreno.

Romain Bardet - Team dsm-firmenich PostNL: 68/108 points (63%)

Romain Bardet in the best form of his life? At Liège-Bastogne-Liège, he finished second with impressive form, after placing fifth at the Tour of the Alps. Watching a good Bardet race is a delight. And who knows what he might achieve in the GC if dsm-firmenich PostNL fully commits.

And why not? The time trials won't be easy for Bardet, but the Frenchman has greatly improved in this discipline and also has plenty of mountain stages and bonus sprints to compensate. After his second and third places in the Tour in '16 and '17, we'd love to see him on the podium again. However, it won't be handed to him on a silver platter!

Geraint Thomas - INEOS Grenadiers: 73/108 points (67.6%)

As previously noted, Geraint Thomas is the leader at INEOS Grenadiers, but it's always tough to fully gauge the Welshman. After his Tour de France victory in 2018, his career seemed to wane, but in recent years, he's rediscovered his top form. He finished third behind Pogacar and Vingegaard in the 2022 Tour and was the runner-up to Roglic in last year's Giro.

INEOS wants to race aggressively, whatever that may mean. Thomas on the attack? We've rarely seen that. He's mainly a model of consistency. Never really having a bad day, always finishing among the leaders. And in this way, we might see him on the podium again in Rome.

Tadej Pogacar - UAE-Team Emirates: 108/108 points (100%)

Whether any of the ten names mentioned can dream of overall victory will largely depend on one rider. Tadej Pogacar is the man to beat, the rider who stands out when everyone else is performing at their usual level. And this season, the Slovenian from UAE-Team Emirates is at his best...

He clinched a victory at Strade Bianche after an epic eighty-kilometer solo break, secured four (!) stage victories and the overall win in Catalonia, and topped it off with a win at Liège-Bastenaken-Liège following another bold solo effort from La Redoute. With a strong team backing him at UAE, if Pogacar stays healthy for three weeks, everything points to him dominating. However, the Giro still has to be raced, particularly with Pogacar also eyeing a win at the Tour de France this summer...

Pope visits women’s prison in Venice and tours Vatican show at art Biennale

Pope Francis, 87, met inmates, staff and volunteers at Giudecca jail during first trip outside Rome for months

The pope has met female prisoners in Venice who are stars of the Vatican’s pavilion at the Biennale contemporary art show, and urged the women to rebuild their lives in the first ever papal visit to one of the world’s biggest art gatherings.

Pope Francis, 87, arrived by helicopter in the courtyard of the women’s prison on the island of Giudecca, amid concerns over his health. He has not travelled outside Rome since visiting the French city of Marseille in September.

The pope, who throughout his papacy has spoken up in defence of prisoners and the marginalised, encouraged the women to reconstruct their lives “brick upon brick, together, with determination” during their time in prison.

“Prison is a harsh reality, and problems such as overcrowding, the lack of facilities and resources, and episodes of violence, give rise to a great deal of suffering there,” he said, sitting in front of the prisoners. “But it can also become a place of moral and material rebirth.”

Francis called on the prison system to “offer detainees the tools and room for human, spiritual, cultural and professional growth, creating the conditions for their healthy reintegration”.

The pope toured an art exhibition housed at the prison which examines the daily lives of the inmates through the work of 10 different artists. The exhibit is the Vatican’s entry for this year’s Biennale festival of art , which began last weekend.

As some of the women wept, Francis praised the art show. “Paradoxically, a stay in prison can mark the beginning of something new, through the rediscovery of the unsuspected beauty in us and in others, as symbolised by the artistic event you are hosting and the project to which you actively contribute,” he said.

The Vatican exhibit has turned the Giudecca prison – once a convent for reformed prostituted women – into one of the must-see attractions of this year’s Biennale, even though to see it, visitors must reserve in advance and go through a security check. It has become an unusual art world attraction, with visitors greeted at the entrance by Maurizio Cattelan’s wall mural of two giant filthy feet, a work that recalls Caravaggio’s dirty feet or the feet that Francis washes each year in a Holy Thursday ritual that he routinely performs on prisoners.

Francis’s visit represented “a historic moment because he will be the first pope to visit the Venice Biennale,” said the exhibition’s lead curator, José Tolentino de Mendonça.

Later, during a meeting with young people at the iconic Santa María della Salute basilica, Francis acknowledged the miracle that is Venice, admiring its “enchanting beauty” and tradition as a place of east-west encounters, but warning that it was increasingly vulnerable to climate change and depopulation.

“Venice is at one with the waters upon which it sits,” Francis said. “Without the care and safeguarding of this natural environment, it might even cease to exist.”

Venice, sinking under rising sea levels and weighed down by the impact of overtourism, is in the opening days of an experiment to try to limit the sort of day trips that Francis undertook on Sunday.

This weekend, the city launched a new entry fee for daytrippers , aimed at easing the pressure of tourism on the Unesco world heritage site. As a guest, the head of the Catholic church was exempt from buying a €5 (£4.25) ticket – but non-resident pilgrims visiting for his mass had to pay.

Francis acknowledged Venice’s beauty in his homily at a mass before about 10,000 people in the shadow of St Mark’s basilica, one of the most celebrated churches in Italy .

But he said the city also faced an array of challenges, including climate change, the fragility of its cultural heritage, and overtourism. “Moreover, all these realities risk generating … frayed social relations, individualism, and loneliness,” he said.

Last year in December, a bout of bronchitis forced the pope to cancel a trip to Dubai, where he was to have addressed UN climate talks. He also pulled out of an Easter event at the last minute in March, after suffering for several weeks from what the Vatican called a “light flu”.

The pontiff, who uses a wheelchair, has suffered increasing health problems in recent years, from knee pain to surgery for a hernia and on his colon. Despite his health, the Vatican is planning for him an ambitious 12-day trip to Asia in September, taking in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, East Timor and Singapore. Before that, the pope is due to make two other trips within Italy: to Verona in May and Trieste in July.
