Road bikes are bikes meant to be ridden on paved or asphalt roads. Road bicycles are, in general, built to be agile and lightweight equipped with frame materials such as carbon fiber, titanium, or aluminum so they are easier to pedal uphill and to gain speed for pedaling efficiency. Road bike wheels are made from aluminum or carbon fiber and today’s current braking systems are mostly hydraulic disc brakes which makes it much easier to stop safely and to control speed for safety.  Modern road bike shifting and braking can either be mechanical, with cables, or with electronic, battery operated shifting which relieves any confusion riders may have learning how to shift road bike derailleurs.  Modern road bikes are aerodynamic and designed to slice through the air which increases speed and efficiency making road bikes fast. Although road bikes are built without suspension they are very comfortable to ride for hours with a proper bike fit.

Mountain bikes are built with a front suspension fork or with front and rear suspension systems. A front suspension mountain bike is known as a hardtail. A full suspension mountain bike has a front suspension fork and a rear suspension shock built into the bike’s frame which gives mountain bikers the ability to handle rough terrain uphill and downhill. Most mountain bike suspensions are either made by Fox Racing MTB or RockShox. 

Modern mountain bikes are built with varying lengths of suspension travel. Suspension travel determines the type of mountain biking a bike will be capable of withstanding while being ridden on rigged trails or down mountains. Cross country or XC mountain bikes offer less travel but the entire bike weighs less so it is agile and easier to climb or ascend on up or on mountain trails. Mountain bike frames are built using raw materials – the most popular mountain bike frames are built with carbon or aluminum. 

Trail bikes, enduro bikes, and downhill mountain bikes have longer travel options on both the front and rear suspension enabling riders to launch off bigger drops and to absorb bigger jumps and rocks on technical trails offroad. Modern development of mountain bikes has greatly improved because of rider demand and from mountain bike racing and modern design and engineering. 

Gravel Bikes

What is a gravel bike? Much like an overbuilt road bike, or an underbuilt cross country mountain bike, gravel bikes have flared carbon fiber drop bars and 700c or 29 inch aluminum or carbon wheels. Oftentimes, a gravel bike will have a front suspension fork, though a full rigid frame and fork are most common. Front and rear suspension on gravel bikes is less popular. Gravel biking is a popular segment of bike riding, if not the fastest growing cycling category and gravel bike racing has become an exciting aspect of cycling. Many former or retired road bike racing professionals have become gravel racers with more involvement of the UCI. Components offered from Shimano and SRAM are gravel specific and are built with more robust and sturdy designs designed to be capable of handling rough dirt roads and smooth singletrack trails and riverbank roads or trails next to railroad tracks or in mountainous logging roads. Gravel bike tires are wider than road bike tires and are usually 35c or 40c or 45c wide and are usually ridden without innertubes and use tubeless tire sealant allowing for lower tire pressures which gives the rider a more comfortable and secure ride on rough roads.  

Desirable gravel bike frames are built using carbon fiber for a smoother or a more supple ride characteristic such as the Specialized Diverge and Crux, the Trek Checkpoint, or the 3T Exploro. Titanium gravel bike frames are very popular like the Moots Routt 45 or the Litespeed Ultimate G2. Aluminum remains a less expensive and an ideal frame material for bike manufacturers to use for gravel bikes as they tend to be more affordable and yet still remain lightweight and fun to ride. 

Time Trial / Triathlon

Racing against the clock has endured the test of time for well over a hundred years of bike racing. TT bikes, or time trial bicycles, are very similar to triathlon bikes though the two types are built in accordance with the UCI for racing purposes.  

Tri-bikes are designed and built for riding fast on the road. Triathlon bikes are usually slightly heavier than road bikes, though many of the same components are used. Time Trial bikes are aerodynamic carbon fiber or aluminum bikes used for racing in triathlons or in time trial racing both for individual or team racing on closed roadway race courses. Electric bikes, or e-bikes as they are commonly referred to today, are bicycles built with an electric motor to assist the rider either fully operational with or without pedaling. Pyatnitskaya street - the Tretyakov Gallery - Luzhkov Bridge - the Cathedral of Christ the Savior - the Gogolevsky Boulevard - the Nikitsky Boulevard - the Tverskoy boulevard - Teatralnaya street - the Bolshoi Theatre – the Kitai - Gorod - Red Square and GUM store - the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge

This route is the best one if you want to see the heart of Moscow. It goes right through the major places of interest and touches upon the most exciting and vibrant areas of Moscow such as part of the Boulevard Ring, which is absolutely loved by everyone.

Cozy streets of Zamoskvorechye will never leave you indifferent. This district has a long and vivid history and is full of old baroque houses along with Stalinist buildings. It includes three theatres, three museums and sixteen churches.

Back in the 18 th century Zamoskvorechye was known as a quiet, country-like land of single-storey houses and conservative businessmen. It remained country-like and is much more filled with business than before, as this area is just right in the city centre.

hi everyone, im new to the forum and have come with a question about the ncm moscow, i have owned the bike for over a year now and seen that the moscow plus has a throttle fitted to it, does anyone know if its possible to fit one to the normal moscow and if so where to purchase what i need in the uk as i cannot find anything about it at all. thank you

Show us a pic of the main controller and it's wring not the handle bar display.  

i will get some pictures tomorrow, i know its a sealed unit and one wire goes to the pedal crank and another goes away inside the frame  

hi, here is a pic of the control box, not sure if it helps, one wire goes to the motor, one to the pedal crank and the others go up to the battery area

All I see is a BB shell with two cables running under it.  

its a sealed unit fixed to the frame, there is no way of getting into it i dont think  

In that case then a throttle can't be retrofitted if there isn't an unused three wire connection.  

The Oxygen ST uses a similar frame which is likely a generic China/Taiwan frame utilised by other companies with different components and motor kits, the Oxygen is throttle capable.

An lcd won't enable you to fit a throttle, you need a controller with the wired out put for one as well as the PAS out put. One can't be used for the other.

You need to put 5 v (from the purple and black wires across the throttle Hall sensor and attach the Hall sensor signal wire to the yellow line. If you have a voltage display on your throttle and it has the range up to at least 60 v, you could also tap into the red wire of the cable to display the battery voltage. Unfortunately all you achieve with this, is having the "walk" function (ie 8 or is it 6? kph) available via the throttle. It should be possible to increase the speed available by resetting the firmware but this is beyond my ability & competence! At a price....!!!! Possibly the motor available in the US has more power, but I suspect the rest is just firmware tuning. You've probably noticed the flash screens you get on switching on, include one that says EU300 or something which I take to be an EU compliant firmware version.

Kosh said: Hello just out of interest , i bought a Moscow at the end of May and was also looking into fitting a throttle , looks like the answer is no, not without changing the Lcd unit (as far as i can make out) there seems to be no info out there (did find something in German) and any questions to Leon cycle's go unanswered, i got the bike ok (tracking did not work) but am hoping i dont get any problems as i dont think Leon are going to be any help ... awful customer service ! very happy with bike though ... done couple of hundred miles to date (mainly cycle tracks) let me know if you find out anything more re throttle .... thanks Click to expand...

However fitting a different display is likely to cast £50+ & may not solve the problem of speed available via the throttle. I was luckier than you with Leon and they provided a few pass codes to try. 8018 worked for me, accessed after pressing the + & - keys together for a few seconds. Difficult to describe but pretty intuitive! This allows changing the voltage (if you really want), the wheel diameter and power which essentially limits the current supply. I have found little different between the “turbo” & normal, but “eco” limited the current indicated to 5 bars rather than 6 and made hill-climbing more demanding on the rider. If you change anything remember to press the + & - buttons together to save the changes and return to the standard screen. Has anyone got experience of flashing firmware on microprocessors and could offer me guidance? ( see earlier posts in this thread and posts elsewhere on this site by me) Click to expand...

VinFast launches fast new e-bike in the US to combine American and Vietnamese culture

VinFast, the Vietnamese automaker known for its portfolio of electric vehicles , has officially introduced its VF DrgnFly electric bike to the U.S. market. It’s a move that the company says further solidifies its presence in the global push toward sustainable mobility.

The VF DrgnFly, which combines current US e-bike trends with Vietnamese cultural aesthetics, is set to offer US consumers yet another interesting offering in the moped-style e-bike space.

According to VinFast, the e-bike is inspired by the image of a flying dragon, a revered symbol in Vietnamese culture. The VF DrgnFly features wide handlebars, fat tires, and an “ergonomically designed saddle,” ensuring comfort and control on various terrains.

The bike also breaks the mold with its innovative “flat frame” design, moving away from traditional tube frames. This not only enhances the bike’s visual appeal but also strikes an optimal balance between weight and durability, showcasing VinFast’s commitment to world-class manufacturing and design prowess.

If you ask me, it looks like another SUPER73-inspired e-bike , but no one is asking me.

The bike comes fully kitted out with significant performance components on the spec side. It features a 750W rear hub motor paired with a torque sensor that provides feedback 16,000 times per second, which VinFast says is significantly more sensitive than traditional systems.

This setup ensures a smooth and responsive ride, with a top speed of up to 28 mph (45 km/h) and a range of up to 68 miles (110 km) on a single charge of its 640 Wh battery – at least when in the lowest pedal assist setting.

The bike is a single-speed, likely a nod towards the fact that few people will ever actually use the pedals for more than a cursory spin up to cruising speed. But that also suggests that the 68-mile range figure on low-power pedal assist might not be quite achievable in real life settings, at least not under the type of use that most riders will see.

The bike does feature some interesting smart capabilities though, such as a mobile application that offers multiple driving modes, ride statistics, and remote access features like locking and unlocking, further enhanced by regular over-the-air software updates.

To inspire a bit more confidence, the VF DrgnFly comes with a two-year warranty from VinFast, which is a welcome addition over the one-year warranty that is standard in much of the direct-to-consumer e-bike industry in the US. That being said, the rather high price of US $2,599 is going to be a tougher sell for many Americans currently enjoying much lower prices in a fairly overstocked US e-bike market.

This global strategy underscores VinFast’s ambitions in the electric vehicle industry and its dedication to a wide variety of vehicle types.
