Joanna will journey in non-ordinary reality to 'diagnose' and inform the healing/guidance. Healings often require ceremony to be complete and so fire ceremonies or space/land for this is also offered. Joanna can teach you to 'journey' for healing for yourself to help you deeply connect with the spiritual essence of everything and everyone around you.

Family and Group Healings

Families are the people in this dimension who you are connected to through bloodlines or chosen in other ways, they can be fraught with relationship conflicts or present as incredible support systems. They can be the cause and healing of trauma. Joanna offers group/family shamanic healing, whereby a family come together to a neutral group room with sacred intention for a healing that addresses the spirit of that family group.

H ouse clearings, Land work/healings which can include work with/alongside nature spirits, elementals and spirits of nature, we can also hold specific  ceremonies for groups on our or your land.

The first One to One session will usually last around 60-90 minutes and costs £110 with a narration of the journey and a write up of the information on healing and guidance included .

As your friend, as your shaman…

As your friend, as your companion walking on this world and as your equal…, when you come to me with tears i will hold you while you weep, stay with you while you scream the old into new, i will love you with tenderness, stroke your brow with greatest respect and deepest of empathy , i will hold your hand while you face your pain, while you feel the agony of what has gone before and we will ask spirit to show us what you need on this earth to help your journey from here, this point in time…, and then we will sit and we will wait for some moments to pass…, as your shaman…, i will blow your crown silver clean, drum your ears until you hear every colour there ever was, unravel the tightness in your being and fire out the stagnation of your past, when you come to me with pain, looking through the eye of eagle he will show me where you hurt, use the eye of see the peck of beak to find precisely that, out of place, that what was left, stayed wrong, wasn’t yours, needing to go, running my fingers through the orange of your soul i will take the hard, the dark, the out of place and throw it to the water to dissipate, where it will shatter into a thousand molecules and re-join the ethereal of whence it first came, when you come with confusion we will go together to find your mind, sort your thoughts, to search your truth to see your journey to discover your purpose to hold still and wait in the place of nothing until you find your guides, your power, yourself…, when you come with stagnation i will lend you my horse, my gallop my move, my forward to break free, to renew your energy, with the wind of the thing that holds herd while they fly in unison in togetherness… forever forward with the momentum of mother earth, and then we will sit and we will wait for some space to come…, when you are surrounded by lost death or want your welcome room, we will use drum to shatter the silence, wolf’s hunt to help find their way, tenderness to help move on and light to help guide, asking ancestors to come to call in those who need guidance, if you come with fear i will hold your back, stand strong in mind and support your spine whilst you forge into the unknown and face the terror that holds you back, to dissipate, to grow into see with the golden eye of phoenix, and then we will sit and we will wait for some sound to pass…, if i come to you in transition, i will hold your body in this earth while calling in your soul mates, your family, your ancestors who wait for you, i will travel alongside you, watching and caring, guiding and protecting while you move this journey along bridges of veils and sounds unfamiliar until the hand that awaits comes to greet you …, and then i will let go and turn to those you left behind, kissing their tears into joy of safeness knowing, and then we will sit and we will wait for some tears to pass…, when you come lost or fractured, shattered like ice, with loss of power, void of direction, confused of self, we will travel to places unexplored, we will seek and call those lost souls who left in pain, who were given in love or stolen in vain, we will hold them tight to our hearts we will bring them back to fill the cracks their leaving made, when you come to me as two three four… five, we will speak to the other and with great care we will show them love, show them the way, show them the light until they are no longer lost, and then we will sit and we will wait for some love to pass…, in sacred ceremony, i will show you to grind with the earth and feel your toes, grasp the heather and run with the trees, melt into stone and wield with fire in appreciation of love, your willingness to surrender your soul to this life and beyond, silver tongue will give you hope, unveil your miracles, restore your faith and balance you between earth and universe, and then we will sit and say thank you a thousand times..., we will show gratitude to those that came, we will give thanks to those that guided, those that healed and those that stay, we will share a cup of warmth and break some bread, put our feet to the ground and go about our day, and with this you will leave…with knowing, with belief, with faith, with love in your heart and light in your mind….

What is Shamanic Healing?

Shamanic Healing is based on the oldest healing practices used by indigenous peoples in, for example, the Americas, Siberia and Northern Europe. These traditions share some similarities, including: working with animal spirit guides; a particular focus on retrieving fragmented soul energy (an ancient approach to trauma); and rites and ceremony to help people transition through the challenging initiatory phases of the life journey. Shamanic Healing is a “top-down” approach to healing, working with the compromised or blocked spiritual energies that influence the manifestation of illness or imbalance on the mental, emotional and physical levels of experience. A shamanic practitioner usually seeks spiritual guidance to base subsequent healing work upon. The methods for obtaining guidance could include divination (runes and tarot), or a light trance state induced by the beat of a drum, known as Shamanic Journeying. Diagnostic pendulum dowsing and muscle testing can also be employed.

Could Shamanic Healing Help You?

If you would like to investigate the underlying spiritual causes of illness, disempowerment or misfortune, then yes. You may feel something is missing from your life or that a logical or material approach is not enough to support you through a difficult challenge. The absent “x-factor” may be a sense of purpose or wholeness, a sense of self, a connection to love or an expression of creativity. There might be a feeling stopping you from taking opportunities and moving forward. If deep down you know these factors are involved in your state of health and well-being, Shamanism could help.

Investigation may involve questioning your assumptions and changing your perspective on reality, because shamanic healing goes beyond “everyday reality”, your familiar “here and now”. We work in the shamanic realms known as the Upper, Middle and Lower Worlds, which broadly equate to: the higher consciousness; the invisible, subtle energies that exist within our ordinary “here and now”; and the subconscious.

Shamanic Healing is not intended as a substitute for conventional medicine and people should still investigate worrying symptoms with their GP. However, it complements conventional medicine by holding space for the soul’s challenges upon its Earth-walk. How you approach your healing is your choice and responsibility. What Might You Experience in a Shamanic Healing Session?

How the work is done depends on whether an individual feels they can participate in their process. I use an interactive approach working with a client’s perceptions, dialoguing as we go and reaching conclusions together. Traditionally the Shaman did all the journeying and the energy work for the client , which is the second option. Work covered includes:

• Empowerment and Protection. We journey for a power animal in the lower world to strengthen the client’s energy field with a healing and protective energy (Power Retrieval). Or I can give a Andean Rite called the Bands of Power and Protection, awakening light pathways in the client’s energy field. Coaching on practice at home is included.

• Clearing Heavy Energy and Trauma Imprints. I can teach an Andean exercise to clear stuck emotional energy from the body and its invisible energy system (Saminchakuy Ayni). For hardened, heavy energy lodged in the body that originates from an external source (an intrusion), a Shamanic Extraction Process may be appropriate. Cord-cutting is a ceremony that addresses the heavy emotional entanglements which appear like psychic cords or ties between people. An Illumination Process, from the Andean tradition, erases trauma imprints held in the luminous energy field, clearing the programme for emotional patterns or repeating events and the associated clogged chakra. If appropriate, compassionate Releasement can be performed when lost earthbound souls form attachments to living people, causing a heavy, draining emotional effect.

• Healing the Deep Past. Some trauma imprints may source back to previous unhealed Ancestral and Past Life experiences. Journey- work can explore and release the events that created trauma. This lifts subconsciously self-imposed limitations in your current life. Alternatively an Illumination Process can erase the trauma imprints of the deep past.

• Healing Psychic Attack. Guidance / diagnosis is employed to check if Psychic Attack is the issue. If so, I address it with a multi-level Three Worlds Clearing that: explores the circumstances that created psychic “Velcro” between the client and the psychic assailant; eradicates the trauma imprints which created the adhesive dynamic; and checks the karma is resolved at the highest level of consciousness. This takes two to three sessions. • Healing Trauma – Soul Retrieval. I offer classic and contemporary methods of Soul Retrieval to address the widespread phenomenon of Soul Loss (or trauma). We journey into spirit to locate the soul-light that escaped to protect itself from fully feeling a traumatic event

I prefer a staged approach over four sessions which helps the client: find a supportive power animal to assist with soul healing; pinpoint the original traumatic event; identify the restrictive, self-protective behaviours that arose out of the trauma; and rediscover their lost light so it can be integrated into the energy body again. Or a shorter Soul Retrieval Journey can be facilitated over a two-hour session.

• Shamanic Journeying. Guidance is gained for the client regarding their situation using the drumbeat of a Shamanic Journey, giving them the option to act or not, as they see fit. The guidance from a journey is often used as the basis for deeper healing work. A two-hour session may be used to teach the rudiments of journeying to an individual

• Shamanic Energy Channelling. The client simply receives healing energies transmitted from the shamanic guides through the drum, rattle and the “misha” (a traditional Andean medicine bundle). Feedback given afterwards. • Rune Divination and Energy Practice. This session combines rune divination* with rune energy practice or healing. The Runes are symbols with meanings that can be consulted to help you to create a better experience of life. They are also visual and sound tools which can be used energetically to help manifest the healing or transformation they advise. Contact me to discuss options available

• Shamanic Coaching. Your two-hour session can be used to: learn space clearance; learn about the medicine wheel; make your own power animal medicine wheel; learn how to journey into the shamanic realms to the beat of the drum; explore basic chakra work, or more advanced voice sound meditations for the chakras; or explore crystal journeying meditations. By arrangement to discuss options and allow for preparation.

*Insurance requirements oblige me to state that rune divination is for entertainment purposes only. Many of the processes listed here can be facilitated via Skype, if more work is necessary after a face-to-face meeting, or if a stay at Healing Waters is not a regular option.

Gitte W. N. worked as a corporate bank switchboard operator in Luxembourg, whilst harbouring amazing gifts as a telephone psychic. The Sacred Trust

The Sacred Trust is a UK-based not-for-profit educational organisation offering shamanic trainings and workshops on shamanism from weekends to three-year shamanic practitioner trainings.

For over a quarter of a century we have been offering an ongoing curriculum of courses and trainings in cross-cultural and classical shamanism. These include two-week & one month intensives, a Three Year Professional Shamanic Practitioners Training, shamanic darkness retreats, shamanic counselling and other teaching events of note.

The way of the shaman is based on a fundamental understanding that people are an integral part of the natural world and every earthly form is animated by its own soul or life force. The world is made up of constantly moving energy and a shamanic practitioner can tap directly into the purest forms of this natural energy, on behalf of another person through the process of journeying.

Urban Shamanism is best described as a process where powerful ancient rituals meet modern spiritual healing. Clients are taken on a journey of discovery. Wherever we come from in the world Shamanism is our root – we all share this mutual heritage. It is the way people have attempted to connect with the ineffable since time began.

The principal function of a shamanic practitioner is to 'stalk' wisdom and invite the healing process to manifest; a sacred midwifery. Using voice, sound, rattles or the rhythm of the drum, archetypes arise from the unconscious, transforming the fractured psyche into a coherent whole. These tonal substances work their alchemy within the human body creating a vehicle for the 'journey' and anointing it with sound, allowing the process of healing to take place, creating a circle of balance. A person may decide to use shamanic work to heal a physical, emotional or spiritual trauma or it may be a time of transition in their lives when some direction is needed. On the other hand nothing may be 'wrong' but there may be a deep sense of needing to connect more strongly with Spirit.

As shamanic healing deals with the spiritual aspect of illness there is no way to predict the results that will manifest emotionally or physically; it does not replace the need for traditional psychological and medical treatment.  Shamanic work is offered to clients as an adjunct to regular, ongoing psychotherapy or counselling.  It is no longer offered to others or on video call.

Shamanic Journeys     Top

The shamanic practitioner moves in different states of consciousness when she journeys. She experiences transcendence as she enters the unified, cosmic domain of the shamanic world. Here she will commune with Spirit, clear negative energies and pursue healing information, a power animal and/or a soul retrieval.

Through shamanic journeying a person can be helped to transcend normal, ordinarily accepted definitions of reality, including the definition of themselves. The techniques used are simple yet powerful, they do not require faith or changes in belief. Healing happens through different types of journeys which could include working with the soul, power animals, extraction and shamanic counselling.

Shamanic  Journeys are approximately 2 hours  

Shamanic Counselling     Top

Shamanic counselling operates at the interface of shamanism and psychotherapy. It acknowledges a perception of the world that recognises no separation between mind and matter. During a session traditional psychotherapy  may be used alongside shamanic journeying and work with energy. As a client your needs in regards to your entire being within the context of your environment and life circumstances will be addressed.

Shamanic counselling is a 60 minute session.

Shamanic Healing     Top

This is a way of becoming whole by integrating the mind, body, spirit and emotions. It has been practised by indigenous peoples the world over for at least 40,000 years. It helps people release problems or behaviour patterns that no longer serve them.

During a healing session there is plenty of time for discussion and creating a clear intention for the work. After this you will simply lie down comfortably relaxed while Deirdre enters non-ordinary reality undertaking the journey.  Upon return she will share with you  what was shown and what gifts were given to help you in your life.    

This initial healing journey is a journey of discovery, in preparation for shamanic counselling (see below) where you will learn to journey in tandem with Deirdre and then alone. Using journeying alongside counselling is empowering; it enables you to work with the information that is received during the journey.  These insights, combined with shamanic counselling, support you to make good choices for what you want and how you want to live your life. 

Shamanic Healing is approximately 2 hours 

Soul Retrieval     Top

Soul Retrieval is one of the oldest and most important of all shamanic healing practices. People with soul loss feel as if something is missing; they have no energy or lust for life, they feel dissociated in some way. This can create anything from ill health to emotional instability, from a sense of feeling lost to not feeling grounded in the world, from relationship problems to eating disorders. Soul retrieval is a healing that can empower a person, so that they feel solid in themselves and know that they truly belong here and are themselves, an integral and unique part of the universe. Shamanism has the power to heal on many levels.

"I'm just going to activate your energy frequency,” says Gwyneth Paltrow ’s shaman as he asks me to cough out the poison within me.

I’m sat at my kitchen table chatting to Shaman Durek over the phone but apparently energy isn’t bound by time and space so he’s able to tap into my aura all the way from Norway. I don’t feel the need to cough but I do all of a sudden feel rather nauseous (nothing to do with last night’s wine, I swear).

“I’ve been working 16-hour days,” Lucyne Jade, founder of Heart Fire Hub, tells me in a rare moment between appointments. “It’s been a dark night of the soul on a universal level and people have been wanting to look at themselves, to heal, to find more connection and meaning.”

Despite the stereotypes, there are few mind-altering substances involved. Modern shamans are less woo-woo and more wellness, using a range of techniques spanning sound therapy, breathwork and meditations to reiki and hypnotherapy as well as traditional rituals such as cacao and fire ceremonies.

LONDON OPEN DRUMMING GROUP Working with Core Shamanism

Meetings are taking place either by Zoom or face to face.

The London open drumming group has been meeting since 1997. The aim is to provide a safe working environment to practice core shamanic techniques for people who have done an introductory course. It also gives the opportunity to talk about shamanic experiences with others and to foster shamanic community.

Within the core shamanic framework the shamanic journey, song, dance, art and craft have been some of the forms the group have used to explore creativity, healing and personal development. The group has also worked with ceremony and ritual for both personal and community healing. Whatever form the work takes we are always looking to deepen our relationships with our spirit helpers and teachers and to bring the power and wisdom available in the spirit world to this reality.

IS THE GROUP OPEN TO ANYONE? The group is open to anyone who has attended a weekend introductory course in core shamanism or has done a series of shamanic counselling sessions with someone known to the organisers. This is to ensure the meetings can focus on developing shamanic practice and not covering the basics of journeying and the geography of the spirit world. Potential members must have done journeys to the upper and lower worlds and have done journeys for someone else. A one day introduction may not have given enough journeying experience to be able to attend. If in doubt please contact us. HOW DO I JOIN? Please contact Shenoah at [email protected] with the heading ‘LODG membership’. Let me know when, where, the duration of and with whom you did your introductory course or which shamanic practitioner has taught you to journey. You will then be added to the email reminder list which sends out information about meeting dates and topics. You can unsubscribe from the list at any time.

HOW OFTEN MUST I ATTEND AND DO I NEED TO BRING A DRUM? The group is open so members can attend whichever meetings they wish. You do not need to bring a drum as it is a shamanic journeying group not, despite the name, a shamanic drumming group.

WHERE AND WHEN DOES THE GROUP MEET? We are currently alternating on Zoom one month and face to face the next month. The meetings are usually on the second Saturday of the month but sometimes the date or times may change. On Zoom we start in the circle at 1pm and Zoom is open from 12.30 – 1pm for community time if anyone wants to chat. We finish by 5.30pm. If face to face we start in the circle at 1pm and meet from 12 for community time. We finish by 6pm. It is not possible to join after 1pm or leave early as this disturbs the circle and any partner or ceremonial work we may be dong.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST Please bring rattle, scarf to cover you eyes, blanket your journal and a pen for writing down the journeys.  If via zoom it is by donation and while £20 is suggested you can pay what you can afford if that is too much. If face to face it is a fixed fee of £20 as we need to cover hall hire.  However we do not turn anyone away from any meeting due to lack of funds.  Spaces are limited so booking is essential.

Each meeting is different and offers the opportunity to develop personal work as well as learning new techniques and deepening connection. All members of the group are encouraged to contribute by putting forwards ideas for journeys or other piece of shamanic work.

Venue for face to face meetings  The venue is a few minutes walk from the train and tube stations at Vauxhall SW8. The part of the venue we use is on the first floor and there is no lift.

Jez Hughes, has studied Shamanism intensively for twenty five years. His own healing journey began over thirty five years ago through a long, initiatory shamanic sickness. The symptoms of this were various forms of mental illness and convulsive fits which he spent over a decade seeking  to heal. This led him towards shamanism and a cure for these symptoms.

Foundation in Shamanism

This interactive online course takes participants on a intimate journey into the ancient practice of shamanism over a 9-month period. It is accompanied by rigorous practice outside of the sessions. It is the basis for all the other courses.

Shamanic Practitioner Training

During this 3-year course, you will be initiated through a series of challenging initiatory rites to create a framework for personal and collective transformation and into the art of becoming a shamanic practitioner.

Second Sight is fortunate to hold a rare collaboration with the Wixárika (Huicholes) Nation of the Sierra Madre, north central Mexico, being one of the main organisers of their work in Europe. The Wixarika are one of the few indigenous people’s who have held their traditions intact, resisting first the Aztec, then the Spanish Empire. They are still self-governing to this day. The influence of this friendship and ‘family’ connection has been profound on our work at Second Sight. I’m a holistic practitioner who started my practice in 2008 with shamanic healing, and added “Tapping”/EFT/Energy Psychology, hypnosis & NLP, EMDR/Eye Movement Integration, True Purpose coaching, Voice Dialogue/parts work, and Core Transformation.

My primary teacher is Mary “Tyrtle” Rooker, of Takoma Park, MD. Mary’s program combines teachings from the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, Sandra Ingerman (Soul Retrieval innovator), Tom Cowan (noted Celtic shaman), and Betsy Bergstrom (Buddhist compassionate depossession). In the shamanic tradition, Mary was given permission to teach by her teachers. (Shamanism has no certificates or degrees.)

I’ve also taken workshops through the Foundation for Shamanic Studies; my instruction time totals more than 300 hours. About a third of my clients come just for shamanic work, while the rest incorporate it into a longer program of healing, personal growth, spiritual discovery, and human potential.
