What You Need To Know!

Please read before booking

Our farm tours are relatively simple:

The tour involves about a ¼ mile walk through hilly terrain and gravel pathways creating a horseshoe shape through 7 different paddocks or fields. This gives our visitors the opportunity to see, and interact with the Scottish Highland cattle no matter what field they are occupying. Some of the fencing is electric, so please do not touch the wires. 

During the winter/early spring months our weaning fields will be light.  During the summer months adults are typically in the shade by 10am-4pm.  To  try and ensure you get the date you want, we recommend booking as soon as you can!

Payment is due at the time of booking online. 

 We do not have public restrooms.  This is our personal farm, please be respectful in all areas. 

Children aged 18 and under must be under the supervision of an adult.   ​  

We generally do not go inside any of the paddocks with our adult highlands.  This is for the safety of both you and our Highlands.

On this tour, we will make every effort to let you feed treats to the cows, have hands on interaction with the calves *when available*, and take lots of selfies and videos.   We cannot control the mood of the animals, so no guarantees on the level of interaction they will allow.

Evening Session & Piggy Party

Come visit the farm during the quiet hour right before bed. Help the farmers give the goats their last bottle. Give them their last snuggle before they get tucked in for the night.

Meet our tiny baby piglets!!! They are sooo cute and friendly!

Goat Hiking - Easy Trail

Like hiking? Love goats? You are in luck! We are taking our rescued farm friends hiking and you can be there! Goat Hiking! We travel to different local parks and have different levels of hikes from simple walks to more vigorous up and down hills which the goats love!

 When you book a private tour, it is only the people in your group.  Join a farmer to do a private animal husbandry session to meet all of the farm animals and learn how to feed them!  Baby Cow Cuddling is a great way to connect to, relax and love a baby cow. Cows are very sweet, affectionate animals that love to kiss and cuddle. Their heart rate is slower than humans, so it tends to help people relax. They love chin rubs. They will often chew their cud while they cuddle with you which is very calming. Cows do this when they are relaxed and happy. Animals have a gift to help humans relax and heal. Most people when in the presence of an animal, especially a new one, tend to be in the present moment - no worrying about anything and oxytocin is released which makes them feel good. Not only is cow cuddling fun, it is also healing and healthy. Age requirement is 7 and older. Thank you

Come enjoy a private session of baby goat and baby pig cuddling! They are both just a few weeks old and absolutely love attention! The baby goats love to jump on your back. When they get tired, they will fall asleep in your arms. The baby pigs will walk over to your lap and love to get belly rubs! It is so important for these babies to get love and attention.

Kitten Cuddling

KITTEN CUDDLING ON HOLD! Kittens have been adopted!!

We have the cutest, most playful and snuggly kittens! They love to play and snuggle! They are also available for adoption!

The kittens are very young and delicate. They need to be handled in the most loving, gentle, and caring way. These sessions need to be quiet and serene. Parents, please keep this in mind when booking this session. 

*This activity is likely not ideal for children under 5.*

There are actually some very tangible benefits to cuddling cats. Studies show that hugging a kitty can lower blood pressure, and help people cope with loneliness, depression, anxiety, and stress.

Studies show that positive interactions with people keep cats healthier, so you are helping the cats too!

"Little Farmer" Summer Program!

"little farmers" summer animal husbandry program.

Rose Bridge Farm Sanctuary offers a farm animal husbandry program that will be hands on for the kids to learn how to raise baby farm animals and plants. The kids will learn about a variety of different farm animals and how to take care of them every day. Children learn to act responsibly and empathetic towards the animals and nature. We 

Rose Bridge Farm Sanctuary offers a farm animal husbandry program that will be hands on for the kids to learn how to raise baby farm animals and plants. The kids will learn about a variety of different farm animals and how to take care of them every day. Children learn to act responsibly and empathetic towards the animals and nature. We encourage children to learn the joys of farm life and the importance of locally sourced, healthy food through hands-on experiences and educational activities. We will make a craft. They will also learn how to grow and pick flowers & herbs!

Age group: 7 to 10 years old (12 children total) (If you have a group of older children who want to do this, we can tweak the program for them and do a group with older kids)

Sign up daily. Monday - Friday, 9-12

Location: Rose Bridge Farm and Sanctuary. The camp will take place on a working farm and will have access to a barn, cottage, garden, and outdoor space for activities and recreation.

Costs: $50 a day

Counselors: The camp will be staffed by our farmer Gracie who will provide guidance and supervision.

Children will participate in a variety of activities, including:

Crafts: Children will make handcrafted items related to the farm, such as tie-dyed shirts using natural dyes from plants on the farm, decorate horse shoes, make flower and herb pots to take home, fresh flower bouquets etc.

Animal care: Children will learn about animal husbandry which is caring for farm animals and get to help feed and groom them.

Gardening: Children will plant seeds and tend to the crops, learning about the process of growing food and flowers from seed to harvest.

These are just a few of the farm tours that give you a truly remarkable and unforgettable experience in Scotland’s countryside.

1. Down on the Farm, Aberdeenshire

The Short family farm the land right down to the sea and tours here include the story both of farming and fishing communities. Get up close with cattle and views of the sea on a “Coast and Coos” trailer tour, watch sheep being sheared then enjoy home baking and coffee in a new purpose built converted farm bothy.

There’s also the chance to stay overnight in unusual Hobbit houses. Lambing is always a popular time to visit and the sheep here are Poll Dorsets and unusually give birth in August rather than in the spring.

Based near Forfar, Graeme and Louise have won awards for their farm tours, which are especially popular with children. As well as sheep, they also have Highland cows, pigs, friendly alpacas and a goat that enjoys accompanying the farm tours. Self-catering and bed and breakfast guests will enjoy eggs laid by the farm’s hens and ducks.  Visitors can bring a picnic (or order one from the farm) to eat at the picnic tables, or even take an alpaca for a delightful walk.

3. Lennox of Lomond, Argyll

Join 1,500 Blackface sheep on this 4,000-acre hill farm and savour the stunning views over Loch Lomond. Established in 1750 and traditionally farmed with no fences, the flock here use knowledge gained over the generations to find their way to grazing spots. You can tour the farm in a unique trailer with first-hand insights from farmers Bobby and Kay, with the option of afternoon tea afterwards. 4. Bellevue Farm Cottages, Isle of Arran

Donald and Ailsa Currie farm on Arran’s breath-taking west coast, by Blackwaterfoot. As well as self-catering cottages, farm tours are available for visitors. Families in particular enjoy the range of animals: Highland cows, donkeys, a miniature Shetland pony, pigs, hens, ducks, rabbits and alpacas rub shoulders with the sheep. With 1000 sheep and 300 cows, Kersheugh Farm is set among the rolling hills near Jedburgh. The farm, which is also home to pigs, goats, hens, and a team of border collies, is unmissable for families in the area. There’s the option of guided tours or to explore at your own pace with a specially designed map. Youngsters enjoy the opportunity to play in the woods and build dens, while families of all ages relish the chance to spend time in nature. The Jacksons also run regular crafting and outdoor sessions for toddlers.

7. Old Leckie Farm, Stirlingshire

In the family for over a hundred years, Alison and Fergus’s Gargunnock farm has a strong emphasis on sustainability with a sizeable flock of free range hens, as well as 60 cows, pigs and, of course, their flock of 400 Texel/ Llyen sheep. The farm can be toured on foot or by quad bike and trailer, and as well as meeting the animals, you can have a go at collecting and packing eggs and sample some of the garden produce.

Petting Farm at Preston Trail Farms

Preston Trail Farms’ petting farm is perfect for all ages and open year-round. We like to call it a petting farm and not a petting zoo, because we focus exclusively on farm animals. Located just North of Dallas, (not far from Prosper, Texas), visitors can see over 50 goats, cows and even some real longhorn cattle up close and personal in their full-time home right here on the farm.

Every paid  admission to our facilities  during pumpkin farm includes one cup of feed for the animals.

Best of all – we are open year-round! Visitors the rest of the year (not during pumpkin farm season) are not charged for entry. If you want to feed the animals, we have feed available for purchase in the store.

For many Dallas-area families (and visitors from elsewhere in Texas), this is a great opportunity to see real farm animals up close!

Held on Memorial Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (if there are strawberries to pick!) Activities include Pick a Pint of Strawberries with a hayride to the patch, visit the sheep, lambs, cows, chickens and honeybees. There is no entry fee but please see PYO berry prices if you plan to go to the field.

RASPBERRY FESTIVAL

Held on the 4th of July from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. if the raspberries cooperate. Activities include a walk to the field, pick a cup of berries (or more!) and visit the animals. There is no entry fee but please see PYO berry prices if you plan to go to the field.

Meet the                           Animals

The calves are usually born in late August. They don't really eat out of your hand and don't care to be handled, but they are fun to watch.

Black Spanish might be considered an American Classic. They are beautiful, and make an excellent table bird. They date back to the late 1800’s. They are, still today, one of the most popular variety of heritage turkeys in the United States.

There are several varieties of chickens on the ranch.

Dark Rhode Island Reds are an old time, well-known American Breed.

New Hampshire Reds are lighter in color and a popular breed for efficient production of large brown eggs.

Black Australorps are all black with a green sheen which is beautiful in sunlight. They are also known to produce large brown eggs even in hot weather.

The Golden Lakenvelders are strikingly beautiful variety because of their unique color pattern. They have black heads, necks, and tails the rest is a buff color.

Silver Lakenvelders have black heads, necks and tails while the remainder of plumage is white.

The Silver Laced Wyandotte have a striking color pattern and docile nature is which makes this variety popular.

The Barred Plymouth Rock breed is one of American’s oldest and most popular breeds. They are excellent dual purpose breed that is known for production of large brown eggs and meat.

T he Ameraucanas , known as the “Easter Egg Breed,” have beards, muffs and a normal tail with a tail head which gives them a bunny tail appearance. Ameraucanas are excellent producers of large multicolored eggs, including blue and green eggs. 

Rambouillet ewes and the ram live at The Berry Ranch year round! There will be newborn lambs in the spring. They love eating pellets from our feeder out of your hand.      

Honeybees are helpful to the farmer because they help pollinate the crops. In our store-in-a-barn, you can watch the honeybees at work in a glass beehive. The bees in this glass beehive can - and will - go out into the fields and pollinate. They are a normal beehive, except for the fact that their home is made of glass. This lets you watch them!

A small family farm nestled in the Pioneer Valley of western Massachusetts

Diversification is key to our philosophy . At the heart of the farm are its sheep and Border Collies. The sheep started as Border Leicester crosses, famous for their soft, lustrous wool, which is highly prized by handspinners. They are crossed with meat breeds such as the Texel for remarkably meaty lambs that will grow out well on grass.

Border Collies are our farmhands , making managing our animals fun and stress-free for the livestock. Llamas and donkeys live with the sheep and help to protect them from predators. We also raise our own pork. Our pigs are raised outside where they are free to roam and enjoy the mud baths they have created for themselves, thriving on a combination of grain and local fresh vegetables. Little Brook Farm is also home to horses, miniature ponies, chickens, turkeys, ducks, and goats.

Shop our online store for farm-raised meat and poultry, fleeces, eggs and beautiful heirloom wool blankets. We also offer herding demonstrations, petting zoos and farm parties, as well as our annual Farm Camp for kids.

ALPACA AND MINI FARM ANIMAL TOURS IN WESTERN NC

Winchester Creek Farm in Waynesville, NC is a family-owned, 20-acre farm with rolling green pastures surrounded by the majestic Smoky Mountains. We raise adorable alpacas and a variety of miniature farm animals — horses, cows, donkeys, goats, sheep, and pigs.

Educational tours are  45-minutes  where you’ll have the opportunity to walk the farm and learn about and meet some of our animals who make up our Farmily.

• Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before the start of your tour. If you are late for your tour, you will have to join the tour group mid-tour.
• For the safety of the animals, we do not allow any helium balloons, tobacco products, vaping, chewing gum, outside treats, or any other animals on the property. Please leave pets safely at home. Outside food and beverages are allowed in the pavilion for booked private birthday parties and celebrations. Picnics before or after farm tours are permitted in the picnic area outside of Granny’s House.
• We go out on tours rain or shine, and only cancel during inclement weather (lighting storms, major snow, or ice storms) and we do not give refunds for any reason. If you need to cancel or reschedule the activity, you must call 828-246-9486 or email us  sales@winchestercreekfarm.com at least 24 hours in advance and provide the available date and time that you would like to reschedule to. No shows cannot be rescheduled.

We have up to 40 alpacas of all ages belonging to Shear Heaven Farm, Alpacas of York and other boarders. We also have five Merino sheep and almost 30 chickens. New Moon Farm Sanctuary was founded on the idea that all beings, human and animal, deserve to live a happy, peaceful life in a safe, loving home. The goats, sheep and many other species that have passed through our gates have come to us from varied situations. Some were brought to us by animal control agencies after being seized for abuse or neglect. Some were the byproduct of the dairy industry; male kids who are seen only as meat, or does who no longer produced enough milk to be profitable. Some were victims of financial difficulties, their owners unable or unwilling to pay for necessary medical treatment. Some were simply no longer wanted by their families. But no matter why they came to us, we have worked to rehabilitate and find new, compassionate adopters with safe homes for each individual. Additionally, we are committed to providing our special needs Sanctuary Herd a loving, caring home for life.

We are constantly amazed at the resilience of these remarkable beings. Though they have endured the worst of humanity, they are quick to forgive and to love. Though they may suffer from physical or emotional pain, they find joy in every day. Nothing makes us happier than seeing a once-starving goat lying in a bed of soft hay as they eat. Or watching a sheep that has suffered life-threatening injuries leaping and playing. Or having a goat who was once terrified of people lie down to sleep with her head in a volunteer’s lap.

There is a deep feeling of peace on at New Moon Farm. The animals are content, and with all of their needs being met, they can show us their true personalities. They’re free to develop their own relationships with people as well as the other animals in the herd. It is our hope that as people learn about the depth and authenticity of their emotional lives, they will come to see that farmed animals are not so different from the animals they think of as pets. Recognizing all animals as individuals deserving of long, love-filled lives is the first step toward embracing a compassionate and cruelty-free lifestyle.

A group of 6 of us visited as part of the weekend celebration of 60th birthdays and were so glad we did. From beginning to end, it was a pleasure and Catherine, George and all the team so deserve success - they work very hard to make sure everyone has a memorable experience. There should be more of these kinds of visitor experiences in Ireland. Fabulous scenery, the great outdoors, a unique experience and lovely people and food. Thank you.

Glen Keen Farm is a wonderful experience of a working sheep farm, with the sheep herding exhibition and famine tour the best in the west of Ireland! It has a very informative visitor centre and a lovely café and craft shop. Definitely visit if you’re in the Louisburgh area.

Highlight of my vacation in Ireland!

The family who owns this farm are just wonderful! You get to see how the dogs work with the sheep, Michael was just wonderful as well as his dogs! We enjoyed a lovely lunch with our tour group with music and dancing. I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed the opportunity to see this wonderful family owned farm. Just outside Moscow, ID, 6/2 Ranch Beef offers humanely raised beef (primarily grass fed with a small amount of local grains when needed to facilitate proper growth; no hormones; GMO free). Visit their website to learn about purchasing and delivery.

Located in Whitman County on the Palouse Prairie, Bald Butte Lavender Farm offers fresh and dried lavender bunds and bundles as well as live lavender and education on how to care for it!

Bar O Farms are living the dream! Raising Belted Galloway cattle as well as pigs, chickens and goats. And loving every minute of it!

Bishops ’ Orchard

Bishops’ Orchard offers a broad variety of apples and pears on a U-Pick basis, beginning in early September and typically running through October.  They also have cider presses available to the public so that customers can press their own cider using their apples. 

Brush Creek Creamery is a small-scale artisan creamery making award-winning cheeses. They have a retail location in the Pie Safe Bakery building in Deary, Idaho.

Deep Roots Farm in Moscow, ID grows vegetables and small fruits using techniques that promote biodiversity on their farm. They use only natural methods and do not use any synthetic chemicals for raising healthy food in small spaces all in Moscow city limits. Deep Roots sells directly to customers in as well as to local restaurants.

Elk Meadow Farm & Nursery is a Bee Happy Permaculture Homestead growing flowering, fruiting, and edible plants; medicinal and culinary herbs; vegetables, fruits, and cut flowers; vines, trees, shrubs, tubers and permaculture plants; baby chicks, turkeys and ducks.

Flannigan Creek Flower Farm

This cut flower farm in Viola, ID was established in 2020 by long time gardener and Master Gardener Tammy Lewis. Selling to florists and retail, the farm offers seasonal fresh cut flowers by the bucket, the bundle, in a bouquet or by the stem. 

Da-Jin and Charlotte Sun’s farm has been registered organic since 2002. They grow close to 30 different vegetables, as well as 40 medicinal herbs for healing teas. They sell their produce at Moscow’s Farmer’s Market and have been selling produce, eggs, and seeds to the Moscow Food Co-op for nearly 30 years.

Owned and operated by Ames Fowler & Delaney Piper, Hands and Hearts Farm seeks to provide local, farm-fresh meat, eggs, produce, and cut flowers. They do this by focusing on growing biodiversity, supporting healthy soils, and raising happy animals.

Living Soil Microfarms grows a diversity of produce using raised-bed intensive gardening methods.  All produce is hand grown with focus on soil fertility through natural mulches. You can buy produce through an online market www.localline.ca/living-soil-microfarm as well as purchase CSA subscriptions (available from mid-July through end October).

Marketta Ridge Farm, owned by Jake and Danielle Adams, is dedicated to sustainable farming practices and providing high quality, farm-to-table foods. They offer a wide variety of fruits (Cosmic Crisp apples & berries) , quail eggs, live quail, seasonal produce and other farm products. Additionally, they host a U-pick pumpkin patch in the Fall.

Mellifera Farm was homesteaded in the late 1800’s and maintained as a diverse family farm for much of the next century.  Today, the farm is a special place, inspired by art and science, and dedicated to the sustainable production of cut flowers, Icelandic sheep for meat and fiber, and queen bees.

Omache Farm provides fresh, local in-season veggies and eggs to customers on the Palouse through local farmers markets, CSAs and their Market Bucks Program. They even offer home delivery. Check out their website and find them on social media for more details.

Owned and operated by Jen Elliott and Chance Chacon, Palouse Prairie Farms offers grass fed beef and Heritage pork. Since their beginning in 2006, they have made a strong commitment to raising high quality meat, caring for the land, and producing sustainable products that they are proud to provide for their family, friends, neighbors, and community.

Located in the beautiful Palouse region of Idaho, Piney Brae Farm offers rare ducks, chickens, and heritage turkeys as well as eggs for eating and hatching.

Pioneer Produce is a small, sustainable farm in Whitman County, Washington. They sell fresh produce, CSA shares (members only – weekly bags during growing season), jams, soup mixes, and seasoning blends.

Pokey Creek Farm is owned by certified organic farmers with 40 years experience growing food. They farm four acres on a mountain homestead and 5 acres of rich river bottom land located on the beautiful St. Joe River. They grow a variety of organic farm fresh produce.

Denise and Henry Wetzel purchased a small farm in 2017. Starting a farm is something they never really intended to do but they are so happy that they have this opportunity. Now, they are helping their son, Mark, start ReMARKable Eggs, a pastured poultry egg business, so they can sell his eggs and their jams and flowers at the Moscow Farmer’s Market. 

Reverie Farm

Reverie Farm is a woman-owned and operated business in rural Idaho. Deeply invested in the slow medicine movement, all medicinal herbs are hand harvested onsite with a deep commitment to the health of the local community and ecosystem.

We are a small all natural vegetable farm just outside of Palouse, Washington. We think good, healthy food shouldn’t be a luxury, it should be the standard.

SkyLines Farm produces 100% GrassFed-GrassFinished Beef and Pastured Heritage-Breed Pork. Since 1992, owner/farmer Melissa Lines has been raising happy healthy livestock, using organic & sustainable methods that respect the animals as well as the land. Visit the farm website to get all the details on reserving beef and pork for fall delivery. 

Smoot’s Flavor Farm is a small part of a larger family farm on the Palouse, specializing in culinary and tea herbs for professional chefs, fanatic foodies and experimental enthusiasts across the Inland Northwest.

Spring Valley Tree Farm offers choose & cut and precut Christmas trees. During the holiday season they have a gift shop with fresh wreaths available, local crafts, and complimentary coffee, hot chocolate and cookies. See their Facebook page for hours.

Steury Orchards, located about 15 miles north of Moscow, is an apple and pear orchard emphasizing old American dessert and cider varieties and English and French cider varieties.

Sunshine Creek Farm raises and sells Lowline Cattle and raw Palouse Honey. Their cattle are raised on 100% grass, never grain. This means they taste different because they are fed different. Their meat is all-natural. This means their cattle are only fed grass and Sunshine Creek Beef never receive any drugs like antibiotics, or chemical treatments of any sort such as hormones or conventional wormers.

Owned and operated by Jodi McClory, Swallowtail Flowers offers bouquets, flower CSAs and custom flower arrangements for weddings. Find Swallowtail online and at the Moscow Farmers Market.

Elizabeth Taylor has been supplying the Palouse with organic produce and flowers for over 25 years. Look for her at the Moscow Farmers Market and find her produce at the Moscow Food Co-op as well as many local restaurants.

Texas Ridge specializes in all-natural, responsibly raised, pastured pork and grass fed beef. They sell at local farmers markets and online through their website with delivery to locations within 40 miles of Deary, Idaho.

Twin Mountain Organics was first started in 1999 by Midge Presol and her son, Garrett. Although the business started in 1999, the garlic growing experience goes back decades. This certified organic farm is family owned and proudly continues to produce the best possible organic garlic in loving memory of Midge Presol. 

The Viola Farm is a local farm and dairy on Four Mile Road in Viola selling primarily dairy products, eggs, and greens. Check their Facebook page to see what is available at their store. The Viola Farm is part of the Idaho Raw Milk program.

Wing Over Farm is an organic vegetable, herb and flower farm in Moscow, Idaho, owned and operated by Jenny Parker. Wing Over Farm is dedicated to sustainable farming practices and providing the community with healthy, positive food.

Join a complimentary sheep farm tour to learn about sheep farming life from a real farmer guide. These run every second day and will give you the chance to handfeed sheep, see sheep-dogs in action, learn about sheep shearing and merino wool. Stay two nights to ensure you can join in this special experience ( a two night minimum stay is required during peak season).

In a land of 30 million sheep, no New Zealand holiday is complete without a taste of sheep farming life.

This is a very different experience to a bus-tour farm demonstration in a large tourism destination. Sheep were first raised here in the 1860's and the property now runs a breeding programme growing super fine merino wool. Our wool supplies fashion labels and sportswear brands like Icebreaker (NZ), John Smedley (UK), Reda (Italy) and Smartwool (USA). Premium lamb is also produced for export and to supply the  Wilderness Lodge Restaurant .

The sheep and dogs are very friendly and in spring and early summer there are often orphan lambs to bottle fed. Our farmer guides take great pride in sharing their world with guests. Visiting the sheep farm is a highlight for Wilderness Lodge guests of all ages.

Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki is located on the South Island’s West Coast between the Glaciers and Wanaka/Queenstown. It is a comfortable 5.5 hours drive from Wilderness Lodge Arthur’s Pass and 3.5 hours from Queenstown Airport. We have driving notes available for the journey north or south.

Wilderness Lodge Arthur’s Pass is located on Highway 73 between Christchurch and the West Coast. It is less than 2 hours drive from Christchurch and the towns of Greymouth & Hokitika and a comfortable 5.5 hours to Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki. The TranzAlpine train stops in Arthur’s Pass and transfers to/from the lodge are available.
