What you can expect

Set sail aboard the Spirit of New York for an evening of delectable food, spectacular skyline views, and lively entertainment. With a tasty cocktail in hand, relax on the open-air top deck while listening to fun music.

The night begins with a buffet-style candlelit dinner, featuring fresh salads, garlic-encrusted salmon, and vegetarian options like baked pastas. For dessert, indulge in decadent miniature pastries and rich chocolate brownies.

Visit one of several full-service bars for your cocktail of choice, then take in the breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline. As the vessel cruises south, bask in the light of the Statue of Liberty’s torch as you point your camera at the ever-changing view. Be sure to spot the towering One World Trade Center and the majestic Empire State Building. Snap as many pictures as you’d like before you head back to the main deck.

This cruise is currently only offering outdoor dining options only. We are fortunate to have beautiful outdoor decks that are available for sightseeing. Food and beverage service will be available at outdoor tables. Access to the outer decks is by stairs only and guests will have access to restrooms. We have great weather on the bay right now, we would just recommend you bring a hat, light sweater or jacket and of course your shades!

The photos advertised is not what you get. I could see anything as we were not near a window. Our table was in the middle of the floor of the boat where viewing was limited. Out table was very rocky when we asked about the table I'll get someone to look at that but wasn't fixed. I was afraid at rimes the glasses were going to land on the floor. You have to pay for any drinks on board they are not free. The dinner was nice good selection of food turkey, potatoes veg, the deserts was not a Christmas theme which was disappointing chocolate brownies and others not sure what they were. You'd only get bite size bits . I asked for tea was left waiting for it, until I asked again and was told we have no tea I was shocked and very annoyed. But they could serve coffee. We went on the dinner cruise so it was dark, which was really cool to see all the lights. If wanting to see bridges and landmarks, go during the day, its hard to make out things at night. The Statue of Liberty is of course the best part. The food was buffet style and was very good. The rest of the time they have dance floor and DJ. Alcohol drinks are extra so keep that in mind. In fact, I didn't want it to end. I had the pleasure of taking the Bateaux Premier Plus Dinner Cruise on Friday evening, November 17th. Before the trip began, Jamal, the concierge was very communicative, and provided helfpful guidance regarding parking and what the evening would entail. Jamal continued his outstanding customer service throughout the entire evening. Bravo, Jamal! For the dinner menu, I chose the Italian sausage ravioli appetizer, the Atlantic Striped Bass as the main entree, and chocolate mousse dome for dessert - all were delicious and beautifully presented! My compliments to the chef. Jackie, my waitress, was very kind and provided excellent service. I thoroughly enjoyed the live musicians that were on board as well - great touch. They were broadway level talent. The view of the Manhattan skyline, and then the Statue of Liberty were absolutely amazing. I especially loved that as we approached the Statue of Liberty, the live musicians on board sang, "God Bless America." Everyone else I met on the staff - the captain of the boat, the maitre'd, the crew, and the photographer, were warm and friendly, and wanted us to enjoy ourselves. We noticed tables around us getting served mimosas and getting their brunch orders taken. We waited for about 25 minutes for a server to acknowledge us. No one had taken our orders, and people who came in after us had their orders taken right away and mimosas served. We also noticed that everyone around us had mimosas served besides our table. This situation upset us and we decided to leave before departure. We had spoken to the manager George, and he notified us that he emailed his superiors about our experience. We were told that we would receive a phone call Monday's or Tuesday to explain our experience. We have not received anything and it is already Thursday. The boat was a nice size, plenty of room inside the dining/bar area, the food was delightful, a beautiful buffet with steak, salmon, pasta, chicken, sides, salads and desserts, something for everyone! The drinks were VERY expensive. We had a Shirley temple, a cosmopolitan and a whiskey & coke and it was $51!!!!!! The crew were friendly and accommodating. The views of the city at night from the water were amazing! There were plenty of deck areas for folks and we discovered a really cool lounge on the upper deck aft with games like shuffleboard, Jenga and life sized Connect Four. The music was provided by a DJ with a dance floor inside the boat that people really enjoyed. It would be nice to have more of the lounge vibe on other areas of the boat for a more relaxed experience. We almost didn’t make it on time due to heavy NY traffic, but a quick call to TripAdvisor to alert of our situation and miraculously we got there just in time for the ship to take off. The food was good, the drinks were flavorful, the atmosphere was fun and romantic, and the music was a nice blend of old school as well as new-aged. It was my 16th wedding anniversary and the crew did a wonderful job of acknowledging our as well as others’ special moment. We even got souvenir glasses to take home! Unfortunately the New York experience was quite lacking in comparison. The food is still pretty good, but is served buffet style. This is fine with me, but might not be everyone's cup of tea. What is less enjoyable is how often you get nickel and domed for the price you're paying. This cruise is not cheap, yet at every turn you are asked to pay exorbitant prices for virtually everything. Want a soft pretzel as an appetizer? That will be $18! Want any alcohol? Cheapest drink is around $11, with cocktails being upwards of $22 and not a single drink is included in the meal price, whereas on the London experience, same company, similar price, you at least got a glass of champagne. But that's okay, my fiance and I don't really drink alcohol much. Oh, what's that? A bottle of San Peligrino sparkling water is $10? Then there's the photographer who walks around and takes your picture before offering to let you buy it later in the evening for the low low price of $33, equivalent to the cost of a relatively cheap cut of steak in so medium cost restaurants. You do get some undeniably great views of the city ay golden hour. I got great photos of the Financial District, Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, and the Statue of Liberty. But you could feasibly get the same from a ferry ride for $12 and then go out to a really nice land based restaurant with the rest of your money. I always enjoy dinner cruises as a concept, but for me, atmosphere is everything. This wasn't advertised as a jazz cruise, and so I don't expect that experience. However, being asked to pay such high prices for literally anything that's not the buffet food makes the experience feel cheap, and not in a good way. It detracts from the atmosphere of the experience when I'm asked if I want to purchase a picture for $33 like I'm walking off of Space Mountain at Disney World. There are plenty of other crusties in NYC that I'm sure offer a better experience than this. They might be more expensive, that is true. This felt like a tour company attempting to make up the cost of underpricing the market. But I have to imagine you'll have a better experience. And if not, like I said, grab a ferry out of Manhattan, take some good pictures, then go out and eat at a great restaurant for probably less than you'll end up paying for this.
