Enter the World of Star Trek With New Game Star Trek: Resurgence

Dramatic Labs and ViacomCBS present this all-new third-person narrative adventure

Star Trek: Resurgence

StarTrek.com

Dramatic Labs, a new fully remote independent game developer comprised of veterans from Telltale Games, in collaboration with ViacomCBS Consumer Products, today revealed Star Trek: Resurgence , a new third-person choice-driven adventure game set within the iconic sci-fi universe. Star Trek: Resurgence is scheduled for worldwide release in Spring 2022 for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4 gaming consoles, and exclusively on the Epic Games Store for PCs.

Star Trek: Resurgence is an interactive narrative video game that tells an original story set in the era shortly after the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation . Stationed aboard the U.S.S. RESOLUTE , players will assume the role of two principal characters, First Officer Jara Rydek and Engineering Crewperson Carter Diaz, as they unravel a sinister mystery involving two alien civilizations on the brink of war. Throughout the game, players will immerse themselves in the Star Trek Universe, interacting with new and returning characters through a variety of dialogue and action gameplay to determine the course of the story.

“As fans of Star Trek , it’s truly an honor to be crafting a story which puts players right in the heart of the action, where significant choices and decisions will affect the entire narrative,” said Kevin Bruner, Founder of Dramatic Labs. “Built from the ground up using Epic’s Unreal engine and our proprietary narrative engine, this game showcases our team’s evolution in creating thought-provoking story-rich adventures.”

The seasoned team at Dramatic Labs is composed of industry veterans, including twenty former Telltale developers that have worked on games such as The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series, The Wolf Among Us, Game of Thrones: The Telltale Series, and Batman: The Telltale Series. The team includes Andrew Grant, former Lead Writer and Creative Director at Telltale; Dan Martin, former Lead Writer at Telltale; Kent Mudle, former Cinematic Director and Creative Director at Telltale; and Brett Tosti, former Executive Producer and Creative Director at Telltale.

"We’re thrilled to be working with the team at Dramatic Labs on an exciting new adventure in the Star Trek franchise,” said Lourdes Arocho, Senior Vice President, Paramount Pictures Licensing, Global Games and Publishing, ViacomCBS Consumer Products. “Players will boldly set forth into this new adventure, meeting familiar characters and new cultures, while interacting with them in profound and impactful ways. This game will challenge players to make those similar tough choices that iconic Star Trek heroes have been forced to contend with."

Share All sharing options for: Star Trek Resurgence understands what makes great Star Trek

Unlike its esteemed counterpart from Lucasfilm, Star Trek’s history with video games isn’t exactly stellar.

There are licensed Star Trek video games going back 50 years, but there’s never been a truly great Star Trek game, one whose appeal outstretches the limits of its existing fan base. Moreover, even the most celebrated Star Trek games, such as 2000’s Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force , 2002’s Star Trek: Bridge Commander , and the long-running MMORPG Star Trek Online , place an overwhelming emphasis on combat, which is only ever a last resort in Star Trek stories. Gene Roddenberry’s cosmic polemic often contains action, but it’s never about action; Star Trek is about compassion, curiosity, and camaraderie. To truly capture the essence of the spacefaring adventure series, a video game should be as much about talking as it is about flying and shooting, allowing players to explore new worlds, build relationships, and confront complicated moral dilemmas.

This seems to be the aim of Star Trek Resurgence , the debut release from Telltale offshoot Dramatic Labs, and the first Star Trek game in ages to be as character- and dialogue-focused as the television series. Set aboard a new ship and starring an almost entirely new cast, Resurgence is a branching narrative whose balance between interstellar intrigue, interpersonal conflict, and explosive space action hews closer to that of its source material than any Star Trek game in decades — maybe ever. As a game and as a piece of software, it leaves a lot to be desired. But as a Star Trek story, it definitely earns its pips.

Carter speaks to a crew member while she’s at her terminal, and a choice prompt comes up with PlayStation buttons in Star Trek Resurgence

Resurgence alternates between the perspectives of two player-controlled characters aboard the science vessel Resolute, incoming first officer Commander Jara Rydek (Krizia Bajos) and enlisted engineer Petty Officer Carter Diaz (Josh Keaton). The Resolute is recovering from a recent disaster that cost the lives of several of its crew and the reputation of its captain, Zachary Solano. Solano fears that he’s lost the confidence of his staff, and is counting on Academy protege Rydek to help restore his honor as the Resolute embarks on an important diplomatic mission. Over the course of the story, Rydek takes point on unraveling a mystery with galactic implications, earning the trust of the crew while also evaluating whether or not Solano is worthy of her own. Meanwhile, engineer Diaz deals with more of the nuts-and-bolts problems aboard the ship, as well as navigating a romance with a fellow officer.

As in a good peak-era Star Trek episode, the “problem of the week” is tackled from more than one angle, with some of the crew handling a social or interpersonal conflict while others investigate some related scientific or technological puzzle. Teamwork is an essential ingredient to Star Trek, and Resurgence highlights that it takes a variety of skill sets and perspectives to solve complex problems. There is a two-way relationship between the bridge crew handling the big picture and the specialists below troubleshooting the finer points. Alternating between these A- and B-plots also breaks up the story and the gameplay nicely, and introduces the player to a variety of likable, memorable characters with whom you interact differently depending on your protagonist.

Jara and a companion stand on a rocky craig overlooking Tylas Mines, which are being terraformed by ships with lasers in Star Trek Resurgence

The narrative moves along at a steady clip, with the stakes escalating organically from that of a typical Next Generation episode to something closer to a modern season-long arc of Discovery . Crucially, for a video game and for a Star Trek story, the player faces consequential, difficult, and timely choices.

In contrast to the (still far superior) Mass Effect games, which present players with clear-cut Paragon or Renegade paths to pursue, Resurgence ’s dialogue trees don’t always offer an obvious ethical binary. Will you risk a dozen lives to save one? Will you disobey a direct order to follow the advice of an impassioned subordinate? Which member of your crew do you trust more in a crisis, and will they trust you in a pinch? These decisions are all made on a short timer, forcing the player to think quickly and trust their instincts. This instantly makes Resurgence feel closer to the “real” Starfleet experience even than the expansive open world of Star Trek Online , which dictates most of your objectives for you; nearly every path ends with “fire all phasers.”

More than anything, it’s your relationships with the supporting cast that shape the variations in the narrative. It’s not simply a matter of passing each one’s individual loyalty check, allowing you to achieve some 100% “perfect” ending. You cannot please everyone and you cannot save everyone. (Or at least I haven’t yet in my two playthroughs.) Not only does this place the full weight of duty and command on the player and offer an incentive to replay the 12-to-15-hour game multiple times, but it also underlines one of the essential tenets of Star Trek: It is possible for two parties, in good faith and good conscience, to disagree. Sometimes a compromise can be reached, sometimes conflict can’t be avoided, but no one needs to stay enemies forever.

Carter speaks to a crewmate with a bright green lightning-like aura surrounding her in Star Trek Resurgence

On the other hand, commitment to the Star Trek ethos does have its drawbacks. Starfleet’s strict code of conduct means that the players are somewhat railroaded. For instance, when enlisted engineer Diaz’s love interest is caught accessing files she’s not supposed to, you, as Diaz, can’t lie to cover for her. In a move typical of the franchise whose reputation for political radicalism is somewhat overblown, its core political conflict between a colonizing empire and their long-suffering protectorate sniffs of some unfortunate bothsidesism. Some of the sci-fi twists that complicate the plot do so at the price of nuance, introducing an overarching threat that forces all parties to work together without ever actually addressing what drove them apart in the first place. It’s a flaw found in a lot of past and present Star Trek, demonstrating the liberal-moderate belief that we can all just get along without committing to any meaningful change in the status quo.

It’s in the non-dialogue-driven gameplay elements that Resurgence truly stumbles. While the stealth and cover shooting portions are smooth and fun, a lot of the other mechanics are sluggish, tedious, or both. This particularly applies to PO Diaz’s engineering tasks, which feel less like puzzles or minigames and more like busywork. (Pull R2 to open this conduit, now LS+R2 to remove this isolinear chip, and then the next one, etc.) Fail conditions of certain minigames or stages can be disabled via a Story Mode option, but there is no way to avoid the game’s more mindless chores.

Star Trek Resurgence also suffers numerous technical glitches at the time of release, at least on PlayStation 4. It’s not uncommon for lines of dialogue to start late or cut off early, costing the scene important exposition or flavor. Keeping subtitles enabled can sometimes compensate for this issue, except on random occasions when the subtitles disappear altogether for a line or two at a time. Busier cutscenes, such as the game’s space battle finale, load sluggishly on PS4, creating seconds-long gaps between shots, killing the momentum of what should be a thrilling climax. These issues may be resolved in future updates, but at launch, they’re an undeniable drag.

Jara fires her gun at an enemy taking cover behind a crate on a dock-like platform in Star Trek Resurgence

Despite these glaring flaws, Star Trek Resurgence offers a space-worthy experience for Star Trek fans. Where other titles have offered a more complete picture of the Star Trek universe — letting players explore the breadth of the galaxy, walk the decks of their favorite starships, or build their own — only a rare few have looked beyond lore toward story . Fans don’t love Star Trek merely for the cool ships or deep mythology, we love it for the friendship between Kirk and Spock, and Picard’s growth from stiff loner to proud patriarch; for Sisko’s impossible moral dilemmas and Burnham’s quest for redemption.

Not even Resurgence ’s nearest spiritual ancestors, classic ’90s point-and-click adventures Star Trek 25th Anniversary or Star Trek: The Next Generation – A Final Unity , have captured that essential human element that makes for a great Star Trek story. Resurgence ties a worthwhile cast of characters to an interstellar adventure. Does Resurgence qualify as “great Star Trek”? Probably not, but it’s hard to argue that any video game has come closer.

Star Trek Resurgence was released on May 23 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The game was reviewed on PS4 using a pre-release download code provided by Double Fine Productions. Vox Media has affiliate partnerships. Star Trek: Resurgence Review

Alister Kennedy

There is a certain DNA that some teams manage to bottle when they form a new studio. Looking at Star Trek: Resurgence for the first time I instantly considered it a ‘Telltale Games’ game, before remembering that they closed their doors. Star Trek: Resurgence is however by Dramatic Labs, a studio comprised of former Telltale writers, developers, designers, artists and producers. And it shows, big time.

Set after the movie Star Trek Nemesis, Resurgence tells a brand new tale in the Star Trek universe. You control two very distinct characters in First Officer Jar Rydek and Engineer Carter Diaz. Both Rydek and Diaz have vastly different roles to play onboard the USS Resolve, a science vessel recently sent on a new mission following a recent tragic accident .

Now with Star: Trek Resurgence being a mostly story based game, I must warn those looking to go into the game without any sort of spoiler, look away now. I will try not to ruin anything major plot wise, however some characters that appear will be discussed.

**Minor Spoilers Follow**

star trek resurgence review 1

Star Trek: Resurgence sees you play as both a bridge officer aspiring to be Captain, as well as a lower deck engineer who hasn’t found their calling yet. This is a very interesting dynamic to see play out, as both have vital roles to play in the running of the ship. It’s quite refreshing to be able to play as a lower deck officer, as most Star Trek games have you take on bridge crew officers exclusively.

If you have played a Telltale game of recent years such as Batman: The Telltale Series or even Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series , you will have a pretty good idea already of how Resurgence plays out. You have your point and click sections that focus on finding objects in the environments, light platforming, exploration and shooting. Combining these with the choice and consequences based system Telltale were famous for, has Star Trek: Resurgence feeling like the evolution of previous titles.

You see, Star Trek for me has always been more about the characters and their relationships evolving than the actual events happening around them. Sure, a good old escape from the Borg, or getting into a dispute with a Klingon faction is always exciting, but seeing how Riker and Picard would often disagree is, as Ambassador Spock would say, fascinating.

These characters feel like real people living past lives, often having crossed paths with one or another before. It really felt like the USS Resolve had just suffered through a traumatic experience and were a crew looking for hope. Since we mentioned Ambassador Spock we need to get into the voice acting.

Not only have the writing team done a commendable job of crafting a truly authentic Star Trek story, but the voice actors here bring these characters to life. Each line delivered, regardless of the player’s choice, feels real. And that’s the heart of this game, realism (well to a point, it is Star Trek after all). The voice actor who stands in for the late Leonard Nimoy (Piotr Michael) as Ambassador Spock, deserves some sort of award for how he manages to nail the finer points of an ageing Spock in attitude and tone. Hats off all round to both the writing and voice acting.

star trek resurgence review 2

Making decisions may not have long lasting consequences or major effects every time, but I guarantee you they feel like some of the most weighty decisions in any video game you have played. Each time I would make a snap decision I would wince just in case that choice would ruin everything; it really feels like you are making life or death decisions for characters you have grown to care for.

The story of Resurgence involves the ship and her crew being sent to peacefully resolve a dispute between two races: the Hotari and the Alydian. This is no easy task as tensions have run high for years between the two and now the Hotari have forcefully taken a dilithium crystal mining operation from the Alydian. Who to trust is unclear and you simply need to go with your gut feelings and enjoy the ride.

There is no meter in the game to let you know how you stand with characters in Resurgence, so you have to rely on snappy decision making and what feels right, rather than worrying about karma. Occasionally one decision will cause a crew mate to dislike you or even lead to something worse down the line, but each step of the way feels like you have had a direct effect on how the story has come together.

Exploration is very limited, and the action takes place in small areas when taking on missions. Each of these is split into its own episode, like a part of a TV show, running a title card at the beginning. Shooting the phaser during combat sections is not a strong point as it feels loose yet sluggish often leading to a stupidly quick death when boxed in trying to protect a team mate.

Dying in the game actually presents an option some players will make use of – story mode. When you die, the choice to retry as normal or attempt things in story mode pops up; choosing story mode allows you to play the section without the fear of dying, however some later stealth sections will require you to remain unseen or the section will still fail.

star trek resurgence review 3

On occasion during scanning sequences I found it tricky to discover the next object to scan. This is due to the fact that they are often small slivers that are easily missed. It becomes tricky to find the next scannable object during one sequence whilst in the mines; smaller than the objects scanned beforehand. These are small niggles that can be fixed via patches down the line, but prominent nonetheless.

Graphically, Star Trek: Resurgence has beautiful space vistas, amazing looking facial expressions and characters, as well as interesting planets. Sometimes there is a little jankiness and glitching, another more unfortunate DNA strand from Telltale games. That aside, the game feels, looks and sounds like it is genuine Star Trek material, much like a brand new series. The writing and acting are that strong.

So to summarise, Star Trek: Resurgence is quite simply the best evolution of the point and click genre I have played. Having taken in the wonderful Star Trek Online recently has made me wish for a game that combines everything found in Resurgence with some more of the RPG elements and exploring found there. A Mass Effect style Star Trek game should go down an absolute treat for fans and general gamers alike. Either way, I would like to see a follow up from the team at Dramatic Labs.

One of the best games of 2023 so far, Star Trek: Resurgence deserves to be spoken about as discussions surround the best Star Trek storyline of all time. Yes it is that good.

Star Trek: Resurgence revealed

Star Trek fans now have a new video game to look forward to, as Star Trek: Resurgence , a third-person narrative game set within the Star Trek Universe, is coming to gamers sometime in 2022.

The game is set shortly after The Next Generation , and players control two characters on the USS Resolute , First Officer Jara Rydek and Engineering Crewperson Carter Diaz, as they are exposed to a “sinister mystery involving two alien civilizations on the brink of war,” according to the game’s press release.

“As fans of Star Trek , it’s truly an honor to be crafting a story which puts players right in the heart of the action, where significant choices and decisions will affect the entire narrative,” said Kevin Bruner, Founder of Dramatic Labs, the company creating the game. “Built from the ground up using Epic’s Unreal engine and our proprietary narrative engine, this game showcases our team’s evolution in creating thought-provoking story-rich adventures.”

Dramatic Labs is a team comprised of former employees from Telltale Games, a company that grew to fame for such narrative, decision-based games from The Walking Dead , Game of Thrones , and Guardians of the Galaxy franchises, among other well-known properties.

Star Trek: Resurgence is scheduled for worldwide release in Spring 2022 for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 gaming consoles, and exclusively on the Epic Games Store for PCs. The game is not yet rated.

Spock in Star Trek: Resurgence

“We’re thrilled to be working with the team at Dramatic Labs on an exciting new adventure in the Star Trek franchise,” said Lourdes Arocho of ViacomCBS Consumer Products. “Players will boldly set forth into this new adventure, meeting familiar characters and new cultures, while interacting with them in profound and impactful ways. This game will challenge players to make those similar tough choices that iconic Star Trek heroes have been forced to contend with.”

The last Star Trek game fans received that wasn’t created for mobile devices, or the ongoing Star Trek: Online massively multiplayer online game was Star Trek: Bridge Crew in 2017 — a title that allowed friends to team up in virtual reality as bridge officers to complete missions.

Celebrate the Legacy of Star Trek Online on Xbox One with New Episodes, Operations, and More

Ten years ago, the first ever Star Trek Massively Multiplayer Online Game released to the world. Now, it’s time to cement your Legacy among the stars. Star Trek Online is happy to bring our 10th Anniversary Update, Star Trek Online: Legacy , to Xbox One today!

This update has been a huge labor of love from the entire team, celebrating not only the last 10 years of your adventures in the final frontier, but the last 54 years of Star Trek. As huge Trekkies, we wanted to make sure you had an update that was worthy of carrying on the legacy of the final frontier.

The biggest part of this update is one of our most impactful episodes. In Measure of Morality, Captains will return to Excalbia, the planet from the classic Original Series episode “The Savage Curtain.” When Kirk and Spock visited that place, the alien inhabitants forced them to battle some of the worst monsters from history to determine which was stronger, Good or Evil.

Star Trek Online: Legacy

Now, you’ll journey with two of Star Trek’s biggest bastions of good: Seven of Nine, played by Jeri Ryan, and Michael Burnham, played by Sonequa Martin-Green. Martin-Green is making her debut in Star Trek Online , while Ryan is returning for the first time since the Voyager themed update, Delta Rising.

The Excalbians have upgrades their simulations since the days of Kirk and Spock, and this massive, two-part episode will take you through the history of Star Trek Online , asking players to make moral decisions that affect how the mission unfolds. Can you convince the Excalbians that Good is the stronger force? Or will your actions lead them to choosing Evil as their guiding principle for all time?

But that’s not all that’s coming in Star Trek Online: Legacy . We’re bringing a brand new Task Force Operation, To Hell with Honor. The viscous outlaw Klingon general J’Ula is building a ship yard in secret, and the Klingon chancellor, J’Mpok, tasks you with its destruction. Listen to Klingon Opera as you traverse this moon, destroying the shipyard, and eventually tangling with massive enemy walkers from the Mycelial Network.

Star Trek Online: Legacy

Completing the Episode and the Task Force Operation will bring you closer to unlocking a brand new ship, the Khitomer Class. In the year 2411, when Star Trek Online takes place, the Klingon Empire and the Federation are finally allies, and they have designed their first ship together. The Khitomer Class brings together the best of both design styles, in a ship that signals friendship and cooperation across the galaxy. You can unlock the Khitomer on all your characters by playing Measure of Morality, To Hell with Honor, and our Anniversary Omega Molecule Stabilization Event.

It’s been an amazing ten years of Star Trek Online , Captains. If you haven’t yet joined us in the Final Frontier, now is the best time to jump in and start your own Star Trek adventure. Come see the more than 600 ships you can command from all over Star Trek history, and adventure with more than 40 Star Trek characters, all portrayed by their original actors, like Leonard Nimoy and LeVar Burton. It’s the best, most immersive Star Trek experience you can have today, and it’s absolutely free.

For both new players and old, we also have a wonderful gift. Log in right now and you can claim the uniform worn by Starfleet in the new series Star Trek: Picard . This sleek, stylish uniform looks great on all of your crew, and like all of our uniforms, is fully customizable. Even if this uniform isn’t your style, there’s nearly every look ever worn in Star Trek available to wear in Star Trek Online .

Star Trek Online: Legacy

We want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to our players – for the past 10 years, you’ve journeyed with us every step of the way, and we have loved taking that journey with you. The future is bright, and together we can see what’s just beyond the next star on the horizon. Live Long and Prosper, Captains.

Yes, they would have to pay them a very large licensing fee for a game that wasn’t very good and very few people liked

Unlikely on its best day.

This has been a burning question I keep an eye on - so first I want to say thanks for asking it, Legacy was much more enjoyable than I initially gave it credit for. Simply having all our favourite Captains contributing their voice overs immediately scored massive points for me. Then there was simply operating each of our favourite ships - I found it to be a very competent game in this regard, and let's face it, for us older gamers who remember those golden years during the 90's where there were plenty of space sims to choose from, Legacy was a very welcome addition to our libraries.

I can appreciate that due to Bethesda being brought to heel and added to the Microsoft family, priorities won't be on bringing a game well over a decade old back into the limelight. But it is severely regrettable that many less-deserving (imo) games have been integrated into current lineups - my 360 barely functions but I'd be lying if I didn't think about Legacy each time my eyes land on the dusty machine in the corner of the room.

For any Trek fan, no matter which show you claim to be the king, there's so much to enjoy in Legacy that it can still hold up and should have that chance to be enjoyed by fans new and old.

At least I know I'm not the only person who remembers this game fondly, it's the least it deserves.

Licensed games of all kinds get left behind. It’s the nature of the beast. They’d be far better off spending that money making a better game, or just getting Ubisoft to port Bridge Commander, which is the best Trek game ever made in terms of experience.

Screen Rant

Every video game release date (may 2024).

From major AAA releases to high-profile indies, May 2024 will see the release of a huge variety of titles catering to all kinds of players.

  • May 2024 brings diverse game releases for all players, from AAA titles like Hellblade 2 to indie gems like Little Kitty, Big City.
  • Remakes and re-releases like Paper Mario and System Shock are on the horizon, thrilling players with updated versions on new platforms.
  • PC gamers can look forward to Ghost of Tsushima, with new functionality helping PlayStation players transition smoothly with crossplay and cross-progression features.

May 2024 will see the release of a huge variety of titles, catering to all kinds of players with major AAA releases such as Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 , and F1 24 , as well as high-profile indie titles such as Little Kitty, Big City . Several other titles such as V Rising and Songs of Silence are also making their way out of Early Access, and MultiVersus and Homeworld 3 are also seeing full releases after the former's controversial closure back in June 2023 after many believed it to be a full release, and the latter was delayed so its developers could make improvements based on February's open demo.

It is also a big month for remakes and re-releases with Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on Nintendo Switch, and the System Shock remake making its way to Xbox and PlayStation consoles after its successful PC launch in May 2023. One of PlayStation's best exclusives, Ghost of Tsushima will also be making its way to PC, complete with new functionality to better pair it to the PlayStation system for crossplay and cross-progression to ensure a smooth transition for those picking it up on the new platform, or those on PC who wish to play the Legends multiplayer with those who already own the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut PC Edition Differences From The Original

Hellblade 2 is one of xbox's most heavily anticipated exclusive releases, ninja theory's sequel will be available on game pass at launch.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is the follow-up to Ninja Theory's 2017 psychological horror game Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice , and while the first title saw a multiplatform release, its sequel is one of Xbox's most heavily anticipated exclusives of 2024 after the series' developer, Ninja Theory was acquired for $117 million by Microsoft in 2018. Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 continues the story from the first game, as it delves deeper into the mind of Senua, as she journeys forward through a brutal gauntlet in which she faces new threats from Norse mythology while dealing with voices and hallucinations that stem from her psychosis.

Ninja Theory's Hellblade titles have been praised for their photorealistic visuals, taking from extensive motion and performance capture to make their characters and world look as realistic as possible. In terms of gameplay, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice balanced combat, environmental puzzles, and walking sim elements, but the trailers for Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 have tended to focus more on the revamped combat, with a greater variety of enemies, and faster, more intense encounters, with Senua's actress Melina Juergens training intensively for two years to make for some impressive-looking battles.

As with other first-party Xbox titles, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 will be available on Xbox Game Pass upon its launch and can be pre-installed by subscribers now to guarantee immediate access on May 21.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 - Release Date, Story So Far, & Gameplay Details

May 2024 video game release schedule, all games coming in may 2024.

May 2024 will have a pretty steady flow of new game releases across the month, with May 21 and 23 being particularly busy days . Nearly every genre is represented, from racing titles such as F1 24 , to story-driven titles like Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 and Ghost of Tsushima: Director ' s Cut , with turn-based RPGs like the remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door , fighters like MultiVersus , and everything in between. Ubisoft and Evil Empire are even releasing an action roguelite installment in the Prince of Persia series, called The Rogue Prince of Persia , which will be entering early access on PC this month.

With such a vast array of titles, there seems to be something for all kinds of players. While major releases such as Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 , Ghost of Tsushima: Director ' s Cut , and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door will undoubtedly garner plenty of attention upon its release, there are many other games worth taking a look at throughout the month, with the indie sector providing plenty of new and innovative titles to enjoy as well such as the feline-friendly adventure game, Little Kitty, Big City or the retro-style party-based RPG Skald: Against the Black Priory .
