With a year-round warm climate, expect hot weather when visiting the Philippines at any time of the year. Sea breezes prevail in the coastal regions between November and February, so travel during this time if you wish to take the edge off the heat. January to May are considered the optimum times to visit though, as it is best to avoid the typhoon season which runs from July to October and involves heavy rain, flooding and high winds.

Consisting of more than 7,000 islands, the Philippines archipelago is located in the South-East of  Asia , in between the South China Sea and the Philippine Sea. Being a part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, the Philippines is home to many active volcanoes and a staggering amount of biodiversity, with thousands of plant, mammal, fish and bird species living on land and in the sea. As a very mountainous country, the Philippines is dotted with numerous peaks, which give way to deep valleys that are often studded with rivers and streams. Tropical rainforest occupies much of the landmass, with most of the population living on the low lying coastal areas.

1. ati-atihan.

With a history that dates all the way back to 1210, this flamboyant festival is considered one of the Philippines' best. Think massive ostentatious costumes, loud drumming, floats of parading dancers, riotous crowds and a healthy dose of partying and you've got Ati-Atihan - the Philippines' best shot at Rio Carnaval.

2. Grand Cordillera Festival

Baguio reserves the fourth last week of November to celebrate life and local culture with ethnic songs, dance, costume and food. This festival spreads peace and tolerance and provides an interesting snapshot of the lives of the ethnic people of the northern Luzon area.

3. Dinagyang

Iloilo City gets its chance to party with its own version of Ati-Atihan. City streets are decked out with colourful banners, street stalls sizzle with barbecued pork, and chicken and costumed dancers compete for glory.

4. Feast of Our Lady of Candles

This annual display of epic religious pageantry features a procession of the patroness, fiesta queen and court through the streets and town center of Jaro. Locals carry candles and a statue of the Virgin Mary to the town cathedral, where crowds of people wait. This spirited and vibrant festival is a great introduction to Filipino culture and religious celebration.

5. Obando Fertility Festival

Want to see couples dance through the streets in aid of hopefully producing a child? Each year, the town of Bulacan holds this festival for childless couples who wish to produce children. Couples dance down the street to the local church, dance up the aisle and attend mass in honor of the three local patron saints.

Ask your leader where filtered water can be found, some hotels we stay in may have drinking water available. It's also advisable to avoid ice in drinks and peel fruit and vegetables before eating

The Intro Philippines tour was one of the best trips I've done! It was adventurous, packed with plenty of water activites, and as a solo traveller it was a great way to meet people. We had Andri as our tour leader - even before the tour started he was welcoming and helpful - he gave great suggestions for activities in Manila as I arrived early. During the tour he was always approachable, knowledgeable, fun and engaging. The tour flowed so smoothly, making for a stress free holiday as we weren't worried about logistics - just left to enjoy an adventure-packed holiday. The best part by far was the 3 day, 2 night boat expedition from Coron to El Nido, where we spent our days relaxing amongst the most beautiful islands, snorkelling, sleeping in island huts and playing volleyball with locals. I couldn't fault Andri as our group leader, and highly recommend both him and the Intro Philippines tour.

What an amazing experience! Would definitely do it again! Will be bringing my friends back to do this short adventure in the near future. My guide Jody was one of the best guides ive ever had whist travelling around the world. His English and humour was great, especially since I was a solo traveller with him. The guest houses were better than I was expecting considering they're in small villages, though still very basic, and had the opportunity to meet other travellers along the way! The scenery and landscapes were beautiful around every corner. Uncharted Philippines organised my trip with short notice since I only booked a few days out but everything was looked after, the information they provided was detailed and perfect.

When I found information about this tour to Sagada and Banaue online, it already had such high reviews, but after experiencing the tour for myself, I would rate it even higher! This trip, guided by the wonderful Zohan, is extremely unique in large part due to the personal touches, stories, and intentional cultural experiences Zohan added to the itinerary. Though the tour is listed for all ages, I would specifically recommend for those ages 18-50 or so. There is quite a bit of hiking, walking, an overnight bus both ways, and lots of carrying of luggage. To participate in this trip, one must be eager to learn, open-minded to experience other cultures, and physically fit.

10 Days Do The Philippines Adventure Tour - Palawan Islands

This was an amazing 10 day tour of the Palawan islands in the Philippines. Starting at Puerto Prinsesa we journeyed up north through El Nido to Coron. Visiting must see locations with breathtaking views, it truly is an experience of a lifetime. The food was amazing and greatly exceeded all expectations, and our tour guide Jovian was excellent. He was so friendly and lively, doing his best to accommodate everyone, and make sure everything runs smoothly. He was very supportive of me and went above and beyond when I had an unfortunate injury at one of the beaches we went to. Overall the trip wouldn’t have been the same without him, he was one of the many highlights on this tour.

16 Days Do The Philippines Group Adventure Tour

Overall this tour was fantastic and the icluded activities were unreal! I thoroughly enjoyed each one, particularly the whale sharks and canyoneering adventure. I felt it was very well orgnaised and ran smoothly throughout, only downside being it would have been better with a bigger group.

Coron Island Life Expedition (Coron to Coron 3D2N)

Team Violet was incredible!!! The tour was beyond any expectations and the crew, especially Jerome and Paul, were so attentive, warm and funny. The food was soooo yummy and I missed the chef’s cooking once I left! Plenty of food to choose from and they accomodated to all dietary requirements. The islands were stunning and loved our fire on the beach to get to know each other more. Our tour group ended up making a WhatsApp group chat after all of our bonding together and I think our strong bond was due to Team Violets efforts to make us feel safe, happy and cared for! 5 Stars!!!

What people love about Fully Guided Tours in Philippines

If you have the time I would fully recommend doing the 14day tour. This Philippine ?? adventure is fantastic for any level of physical fitness and ability to swim - life vest are available at all times wether you want them for sun protection on your back or just want to be lazy and float whilst snorkelling ?. My highlights was the snorkelling on the first two days and the last (the fish ? came out to play), the Filipino cultural day was great ?? Mark and Shen where great guides for the day, Shen being a born local was an awesome story teller with plenty of humour ?. Camping ?️ on the islands ?️ is part of the overall experience, you get to sit back and relax taking in the absolute beauty of what the Philippines has to offer, words cannot describe the amazing tranquility and beauty that is on offer.

I had such a fantastic time with the TruTravels group! Orty the guide was very friendly and welcoming! I would definitely go through booking a group tour with TruTravels again in the future!

This was one of the best trips I've done. The itinerary was the perfect mix of activities and down time & I felt, hit the key places I'd travel to if doing it fully solo. Whilst the tour itself and the people I met on it were a big part of me having the best time, it wouldn't have been the same without our tour leader Andri. He helped join the group together before we even started and made everyone feel included once we got there. He was the best mix of chilled and reliable, super knowledgeable and put the needs of the group first like the wonderfully caring human he is. We always knew what we were doing and when and it felt like he made the trip run so smoothly - I only had to worry about turning up and having a good time. If you're thinking about booking this DO IT (and pray you'll have Andri has your leader)
