Global Entry

-->trusted traveler program enrollment -->.

Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. Members enter the United States by accessing the Global Entry processing technology at selected airports .

At airports, program members proceed to the Global Entry lanes where processing technology will be used to expedite the members by capturing a photo to verify their membership. Once the photo has been captured, the member will receive on-screen instructions and proceed to a CBP officer who will confirm that you have successfully completed the process.

Travelers must be pre-approved for the Global Entry program. All applicants undergo a rigorous background check and in-person interview before enrollment. If a traveler was unable to schedule an interview at an Enrollment Center prior to their international travel, they have an option to complete their interview via Enrollment on Arrival upon their arrival to the United States.

Another upcoming processing technology option for travelers will be the Global Entry Mobile App. This app will enable members to validate their arrival to the U.S. on their iOS or Android device prior to entering the Federal Inspection Services area.

While Global Entry’s goal is to speed travelers through the process, members may still be selected for further examination when entering the United States. Any violation of the program’s terms and conditions will result in the appropriate enforcement action and termination of the traveler’s membership privileges.

What's the difference between the consecutive swiss travel pass and the swiss travel pass flex.

There are two types of Swiss Travel Passes: the consecutive Swiss Travel Pass. and the Swiss Travel Pass Flex. Both passes offer unlimited travel on the Swiss Travel System network, but there are some key differences between the two.

The consecutive Swiss Travel Pass is valid for a specified number of consecutive days , such as 3, 4, 8, or 15 days. You can use the pass for continuous travel within the specified days.

On the other hand, the Swiss Travel Pass Flex allows you to choose a certain number of non-consecutive days within one month.

For example, if you have a 15-day Flex pass, you can travel for 15 days within one month, but these days do not have to be consecutive. The Flex Pass is ideal for travelers who wish to have more flexibility in their itinerary and have the freedom to choose when and where to travel.

When choosing between the two passes, consider your travel itinerary, stay duration, and budget. If you plan to travel extensively around Switzerland and visit many museums, then the Swiss Travel Pass is a good option. However, the Swiss Travel Pass Flex is a better choice if you want more flexibility in your itinerary and have the freedom to choose when and where to travel.

Activation and logistics

The Swiss Travel Pass for consecutive days does not need to be activated. When you purchase your pass from an online travel agent, they send an email directly to your account. You will receive a PDF file containing a QR code the train staff can check and scan. You may also receive a link in the email that will allow you to add the code to any wallet app on your smartphone. Alternatively, you may print out the PDF on a sheet of paper. The pass is ready to be used if it contains information such as your start date, passenger name, and birth date. If you have purchased a consecutive ticket, you must fill in your start date during the check-out. Your pass will automatically be activated on that particular date and run for the preset number of days. Once in Switzerland, present the pass and your passport or ID to the conductor on board.

The Swiss Travel Pass Flex must be activated in Switzerland before each day of travel. There is a dedicated website where you have to enter your ticket reference number and name to validate the travel days.

A travel day on the Swiss Travel Pass Flex is based on the calendar day, allowing for travel within the validity period of the pass. However, remember that travel days are not calculated on a 24-hour basis, and the final day of validity ends at 5 AM on the following day.

The Swiss Travel Pass is unavailable for purchase by Swiss residents, as it is primarily marketed toward tourists visiting Switzerland. It is only available to those with a permanent residency outside of Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein.

Swiss residents have other options, such as the Half Fare Card, the GA, or other regional passes that may suit their travel needs.

Swiss Travel Pass FAQs - Zurich Airport Train Station

Is the Swiss Travel Pass the same as the Swiss Pass?

Good question! No, the two passes are not the same. Consider the Swiss Travel Pass a golden ticket for tourists, granting them access to various transportation options. Swiss Pass is the former name.

Today, the SwissPass is a chip card and digital account intended for Swiss residents. It lets them load annual public transport passes and other products onto an electronic card.

As a tourist, it's important to remember that the Swiss Travel Pass and SwissPass are two distinct products, each catering to different needs. Adding your Swiss Travel Pass to a SwissPass online account would be like trying to use a library card to buy groceries - it simply doesn't make sense.

Is the Swiss Travel Pass worth it?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as it will depend on your individual needs and preferences. The Swiss Travel Pass offers many benefits that can greatly enhance your travel experiences in Switzerland.

Key benefits include saving money on transportation, free access to museums, and the convenience of not purchasing individual tickets.

We are traveling to Switzerland in July and our must do is the Glacier Express from Brig to Chur. If I purchase the Swiss travel pass that will get us on the train but then we need to purchase and actual seat, is that correct?

European travel pass FAQ: who should apply, cost, wait times, and more

The new authorization will be implemented next year

  • 18:46, 10 AUG 2023
  • Updated 16:19, 15 AUG 2023

30 European countries require the new pass

US citizens will need a new travel pass to visit 30 countries in Europe next year. A new travel authorization known as the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), will come into effect in 2024.

The system is similar to the US's ESTA requirement for short-term stays for foreign visitors from visa-exempt countries. Once implemented, ETIAS will be required from visitors from visa-exempt, non-EU countries such as the US, UK, and Australia.

Apart from those who have dual citizenship with EU countries, US citizens will be required to apply for the pass prior to vacations and other short-term stays. Here's the rundown on all you need to know about the pass.

Read more: US citizens will need travel authorization for Europe in 2024

Read more: Where are the most Irish neighborhoods in New York City?

What does ETIAS cover?

The pass is for short-term stays, entitling those who have it to stay in the European countries requiring it for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. ETIAS covers you for short-term stays in the following 30 countries:

  • Czech Republic
  • Liechtenstein
  • Netherlands
  • Switzerland

How long does ETIAS last?

The pass lasts for either three years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

Who needs ETIAS?

Citizens from the following countries need to apply for ETIAS prior to their visit:

  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • El Salvador
  • Marshall Islands
  • New Zealand
  • North Macedonia
  • Saint Kitts and Nevis
  • Saint Lucia
  • Saint Vincent
  • Solomon Islands
  • South Korea
  • Timor Leste
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • United Arab Emirates
  • United Kingdom
  • United States of America

Irish passport holders will not need ETIAS, provided you present this passport to European authorities while traveling.

How much does ETIAS cost?

ETIAS comes with an application fee of €7. At the time of writing, that's around $7.79 in USD.

How to apply for ETIAS

Applications are not yet open, but you'll be able to apply online once the system is implemented next year. You can also nominate someone to apply on your behalf. Read our full guide on what to expect from the application process for more.

How long does ETIAS take?

Once you have an in-date passport on hand, the application itself should only take a few minutes to fill out. Most applications will be processed within minutes to 96 hours.

Some applicants may be required to provide additional information or documentation. In rare cases, applicants may be called to participate in an interview with national authorities, which can extend the process by an additional 30 days.

When to apply for ETIAS

Though most applications will be processed quickly, it's highly recommended that you apply prior to booking flights or accommodation just in case. The pass will be linked to your passport and expires along with it, so if your passport is near expiry, it's best to wait until you have a new one before applying for ETIAS.

Everything you need to know about the dragonpass lounge program.

With a base fee of $89 annually, what does the program have to offer?

  • DragonPass costs $89 annually at the entry-level, offering 1,300+ lounge and service partnerships worldwide.
  • Membership fees are comparable to Priority Pass but offer unique pricing for unlimited access.
  • Program partners with select credit cards, providing complimentary access in Canada; benefits vary.

Access to lounges is often associated with luxury. As such, it is a common misconception that only status-holding frequent flyers on legacy carriers and their most premium customers get access to these airport spaces where travelers can eat, relax, and get productive ahead of their flights. Today, however, this is increasingly far from the case.

Flyers of all types can add lounge access to economy class bookings, buy day passes into third-party lounges, or sign up for credit cards that offer Priority Pass or other similar benefits, allowing them to visit over 1,000 premium spaces worldwide. Today, we will examine Priority Pass' main competitor, DragonPass, diving into the lounges they offer access to, how much the membership costs, and if it is worth it compared to other options.

What is DragonPass, and how much does it cost?

According to its website , DragonPass was established in 2005 and now has 30 million members worldwide. Initially an airport lounge provider, they partner with more than 1,300 lounges worldwide. They also work with several airport restaurants, spas, limousines, and meet-and-greet services. DragonPass aims to cater to the needs of every traveler and go beyond only providing lounges.

This is what the company has to say about their services.

Our range of services remains unparalleled and so does our delivery. We are proud of the technology that drives us. Having spent many years refining, updating and perfecting our digital platform we pride ourselves on offering our members a leading range of full services easily available through a single-app. Travel made easy with everything at your fingertips.

Pricing at DragonPass is relatively straightforward and very similar to that of competitor Priority Pass . Their prices are just as comparable. DragonPass's base fee is $89 yearly, whereas Priority Pass is $99.

The preferential fee is $259, which gives access to 8 free visits, less than the $329 of Priority Pass, though this comes at the cost of two extra free visits. As the name may imply, a Prestige package gives unlimited lounge access and costs $429 at Dragon Pass versus $469 at Priority Pass. The single visit fee is the same for both membership schemes.

Which lounges do I get access to?

Readers should be aware that making an exhaustive list may be very complicated, as Dragon Pass grants you access to over 1,000 lounges. However, according to the professional traveler , one region where being a member could be very advantageous is Asia with the Ruby Lounge in Beijing Capital; this is the continent where the network boasts 444 lounges, a close tie with priority passes with 440 participating lounges.

Europe comes in next with 225 lounges, including the Star Alliance lounge in Terminal 1, then North America with 109, including JFK's Korean Air lounge. Oceania appears to be trailing behind eight participating airports, including Melbourne's Plazza premium, and New Zealand has three, notably one in Auckland, the Strata Lounge.

British Airways Is Back In Beijing After 3 Years

You can search for participating lounges by country and airport using this webpage .

Which credit cards come with Dragon Pass?

Readers will be familiar with the fact that some cards come with lounge access, often through Priority Pass. But since Dragon Pass boasts a similar lounge network, it is interesting to see if you can bypass the high annual fees for the Prestige package.

According to princeoftravel , DragonPass is the exclusive lounge access partner of Visa and Mastercard in Canada. Through these partnerships, select credit cards provide complimentary DragonPass memberships. This seems to match up with a similar claim by milesopedia , which lists the eligible cards in Canada as:

  • Nationbank Worldelite Mastercard.
  • Scotiabank Visa Infinite Card.
  • BMO Ascend World Elite MasterCard.

In the same article, Princeoftravel also claims that certain Asian visa cards will give you complimentary access to the program without going into further details.

Why Do Airlines Issue Cobranded Credit Cards?

Simple Flying does not incentivize to get credit cards; readers wishing to do so should enroll at their own risk. We are not affiliated with any of the cards mentioned above and only use them as illustrations.

The bottom line is: Is Dragon Pass worth it for me?

With all this information in mind, whether the scheme is worth it will depend on a few factors. If you are not a Canadian resident or citizen, we have not been able to verify if any cards give you the program's benefits. As a result, it's hard to estimate the card's value for US-based frequent flyers.

All The Lounges At Seattle-Tacoma Airport And How To Access Them

Please let us know in the comments if you know of any cards.

If you do not mind the relatively minor network compared to Priority Pass and find the packages appealing from a price perspective, consider signing up. Access to these spaces can have a good impact on your travels. Besides, if no lounges are available at your departure airport, there may be one at your arrival airport, which you could try on the return leg.

Whether or not you choose Dragon Pass is up to you, but we hope that you will make the most of your trips. The most important aspects of traveling are discovering new places, having fun, and enjoying the experience.

How will I be charged for using my device when I travel abroad?

  • TravelPass: For $5/day in Canada and Mexico* and $10/day in other countries, you can use your domestic plan's talk, text and data allowances just like you do at home. And you're only charged for days that you use your phone. Learn more by visiting our TravelPass FAQs .

How do I add an international travel plan for my device?

Here's how to add TravelPass or a Monthly International Plan to your account:

  • My Verizon website: On your International Plan page, go to Use our Trip Planner .
  • Choose a line.
  • In Additional Services, scroll to International Plans and then add new plan .
  • Text: Add TravelPass anytime, anywhere by texting Travel to 4004 .

Note: We offer data plans for select flights and cruises. Where available, when you board, we'll send you a text to let you know you can add In-flight Daily Pass or Cruise Daily Pass .

Where can I find out if there's network coverage for my travel destination?

You can view our international coverage map to check coverage for your trip.

How do I call the US while traveling internationally?

To call the US from abroad, enter " + ", then the US country code " 1 " and the 10-digit phone number. Note: To enter " + ", press and hold " 0 " on your keypad until the " + " appears on your screen.

How can I use my mobile device while I'm on a cruise ship or airplane?

On select cruise ships you can make and receive calls and/or send and receive text messages. Calling and texting: You're charged Pay as You Go rates for calling and texting when on a cruise ship. Visit our Cruise Ship & Airplane Pricing page to view pricing. Using data is available only on select cruise ships and airplanes. Visit our In-flight Daily Pass and Cruise Pass FAQs to learn more.

Can I use Wi-Fi calling when I'm outside the US?

Yes. You can use Wi-Fi when calling back to the US from overseas for no additional cost. However, Wi-Fi calling to any country other than the US is charged at International Long Distance rates ("pay as you go" rates), no matter what international travel plan you have. When an international call is placed over Wi-Fi Calling, a voice prompt will interrupt the call to remind you that international charges may apply. You can choose to complete the call or hang up to avoid potential charges.

What happens if I'm traveling near the border of 2 countries?

When you're traveling, your device scans for the strongest signal. If you’re near a border, it's possible to pick up another country's network if that signal is stronger. If this happens, we send you a message to let you know the rates that apply for that country.

How do I access voicemail while traveling internationally?

To check your voicemail messages when outside of the US you can:

  • Call your voicemail – Call your Verizon mobile number in International format ("+1" and then your 10-digit number). Interrupt the greeting by pressing # (pound key) and follow the prompts to navigate to the voice mailbox.
  • Use a Visual Voice Mail app – Basic Visual Voicemail on Android and iPhone is free and included with your smartphone plan. Learn more on our Visual Voicemail FAQ page.

What are international travel data usage alerts?

You get an "international data spend notification" when your charges reach $250, $500, $1,000 and every $1,000 after that. Verizon Business accounts get notices when charges reach $500, $1,000 and every $1,000 after that. You can change your alert preferences in My Verizon website or in the My Verizon app.

Is there a limit to the amount of unbilled data I can use?

Yes, your international travel data is automatically blocked when you reach $500 in unbilled data usage. To remove this restriction, call +1 (908) 559-4899 while traveling outside the US.

How do I check my unbilled voice, text or data used while traveling outside of the US?

To check your unbilled international usage , go to the International Usage and Services page in My Verizon. Select your device. Your international travel usage is listed under My Usage .

If I have a technical problem while traveling, how do I get help?

Call the International Support Team to get help while traveling, +1-908-559-4899. If your device is lost, stolen or broken or you experience a device issue while you're traveling outside the US, reach our International Support Team from any landline phone:

  • Enter your country's toll-free number .
  • Enter your 10-digit mobile number when prompted by the International Travel Hotline.

If a toll-free number isn't available for the country you're in, call (908) 559-4899 (toll charges apply).

Do I need to remove my international plan when I get home?

No, you don't have to remove your international plan when you return home:

  • TravelPass stays on your line. You won't be charged again until the next time you use your mobile device outside of the US.
  • In-flight Daily Pass is automatically removed from your line when your 24-hour session ends.
  • Cruise Daily Pass charges only apply when you use your device onboard a cruise ship. You can leave Cruise Daily Pass on your account so it's ready for your next cruise.

*This plan is no longer available to add to your account.

How long does it typically take for international travel charges to appear on my bill?

It could take up to 60 days for international travel charges to appear on your bill.

Why do I see international charges on my bill when I already paid for the International plan last month?

International charges you see on your Verizon bill after you've paid for a Monthly International Travel Plan are most likely additional usage charges. Usage charges mean that while you were traveling, you went over the plan's 1-month limit for talk, text or data usage.
