I am one week overdue on this rating. Orange County Trek Movers knocked it out of the park. We had an amazing team of 3 movers who worked diligently and were extremely careful with all of our belongings. Some items needed to be disassembled and then reassembled during the move and they were right there with all the tools and materials to do the job. They even moved my Peloton Bike+. I am so grateful for the stellar job they did for us and would refer them to anyone in the market for the BEST moving crew.

Booked a virtual consultation and waited in Zoom for 15 minutes at 9:30am. Called their number and was told that the person scheduled for my consultation was running behind schedule. I agreed to reschedule my appointment to 4pm the same day. Met with the Trek Movers consultant through Zoom. Provided the move date window, the starting point, the ending point, and then walked through the house and property. Was told I would get a quote by the next day. Did not receive a quote.

Guys were on time, we immediately got attitude from guys when we explained everything needed to be covered (as in flooring stairs carpet doors staircase etc...) we were told that is not something they do at their company. If I would have known this up front I would have done it myself or found another moving company. David one of the guys with the company was a great help! He really knew what he was doing and worked by himself and very efficiently. 2 other guys worked together and very slow upstairs we had to keep going up to check on them. Upon booking I spoke with Alex who did tell me they would cover everything, I explained this was a model home 3 story and the owners were now moving in and I needed it to stay clean without dirty carpet flooring scratched walls dented appliances etc... never did he tell me this was something the company did NOT do. Some of the pictures I reviewed showed carpet, flooring, staircases etc covered. There was also some confusion with a upright piano being moved. I believe I did not ask about this prior to booking but it is on wheels and my husband and I have moved this with another guy before so I did not think it would be a problem since in there ads it says no extra charge for heavy items. They strongly did not want to move it, saying I needed to hire (pay) for 4 guys if I wanted to add a heavy item. After going back and forth with them and then calling Alex we decided to not have it moved. I believe on the way to the new place they called in and spoke with Alex about the piano and my shocking face when they told me it was probably going to take 8 hrs to move us. I believe there was a misunderstanding there also because we figured 4-6hrs not 8hrs since it was only a 2bdrm townhouse. With all that being said, I didn't like the attitudes we got and I didn't appreciate Alex telling me his guys told him they did cover the flooring, carpet etc.... And wear booties. Yes the covered the wood stairs and that is it none of the other flooring in the house at all! And yes 2 of the guys wore booties but they also wore them outside on the pavement and into their truck as they were loading and then back into the house, so I'm not sure that really counted or helped at all. Adding it was raining the day we moved so it was more of a issue that the carpets were not covered. Same also happened at the new place they had their booties on but they were walking inside and outside and in the truck with them on so at one point I told them I didn't even know why they were bothering and I would just clean the floors after they left. Things went much quicker at the new place and they ended up finishing up in 5hrs. There were a few things we just said we'd take care of ourselves to just get done quicker. My husband dealt with the guys once we were at the new place since I felt even more attitude from 2 of the guys since reaching out to the office regarding the flooring and carpet. I will add 2 of the guys asked to use the restrooms and although I understand this is normal I am a clean freak and was totally grossed out that they did not wash their hands afterwards. I put paper towels in the restroom with hand soap and before leaving I double checked the restroom and noticed. Ugh not okay! They touched all of our things. Unsure I would reach out to this company again for help moving unfortunately. I am not sure you can trust a company when they have employees that do not tell the truth, and then you believe them over the client when the client has nothing to gain from reaching out to the office regarding issues.

Hello Cheryl, Thank you for providing a detailed account of your recent moving experience with us. Each point of feedback you've given is being taken with the utmost seriousness, as it is essential for us to align our services with the values and business model we are committed to upholding. We apologize for the disconnect regarding the protection of your home during the move. We typically pride ourselves on taking every precaution to ensure a client's property is left in pristine condition, and it seems we missed the mark in communicating this part of our service to our team effectively on the day of your move. I'm glad to hear that David was able to make a positive impact during the move. However, it's clear we have areas to improve upon, especially regarding the pace of work and the approach of our team members. I can assure you that this feedback will be used constructively to enhance our training and ensure that all our movers meet the standard of efficiency and courtesy demonstrated by David. Regarding the piano and the miscommunication surrounding the duration of your move, we apologize for any confusion caused. We aim to be transparent and accurate in our communications and will review our procedures to prevent such discrepancies in the future. As for the protection of your floors and the issue with booties not being used correctly, especially during inclement weather, this is a lapse that we take very seriously. Your home should have been safeguarded against any such concerns, and we will reinforce the correct use of protective measures with our team. Lastly, we take hygiene very seriously, especially in these times. The incident you described with the restroom is concerning, and we will address this matter internally with the team members involved to ensure it does not happen again. Your trust is paramount to us, and we are disheartened to hear it has been shaken. Please know that we believe our clients' concerns are valid and deserve to be heard and addressed. We are committed to not only resolving the issues you've experienced but also to taking steps to prevent such situations in the future. We would like to discuss how we can rectify this situation to your satisfaction. If you’re willing, please contact us at your convenience so that we can make amends. Thank you for your honesty, and once again, we apologize that our service did not meet the high standard we strive to achieve. Sincerely, Trek Movers Team

Fantastic service!! David and his team were incredibly efficient. They were kind, personable, and treated all the belongings they packed and transported with respect. They brought all their own tooling and ensured all furniture pieces were secured safely. Thank you David and team!

Last August I contacted Trek to help move an elderly family member from a 2nd story apartment to a different apartment. They were were wonderful at keeping in contact as our date to move had changed. They were clear on all costs and services to be expected as well as approximate time it might take to get the move accomplished. When the day of the move came they were on time and efficient. They packed up everything with care and moved everything with great coordination between the team members. I would absolutely recommend their services!

We hear so many horror stories from moving companies and have always hesitated to hire one. But after 4times moved it our own, we decided to hire a moving company. I'm so glad we went with Trek Mover. We got a team of 3. They went straight to pack stuff in the garage after we sign the paper, very hard working, and fast. We are 4 bedrooms house with a lot of stuff/furnitures and afraid our stuffs wouldn't fit in our storage unit, but they made it happened with timing manner. I'm still really impressed with their wrapping skill and nicely pack everything in our storage unit. Update: I didn't know how important it is that they a a countdown system until your moving day with them. They also have tips sent out to make sure what to expect on your moving day and how to make your move easier and cost less. They really know how stressful moving is on our end.

Great service, friendly crew, careful delivery! We had pre-packaged our furniture, and the crew covered everything in blankets to avoid damaging. No hidden fees! We are very happy with the service and would call them for help again!

We used this company to move my daughter's belongings from her home to a storage locker. I had everything packed up and ready to go. They took 9 hours and 15 minutes to move a three-bedroom house of furniture and the boxes I'd packed. Unbelievably slow. Supposedly we got the best team to move her. They crammed the stuff in the storage locker so tight we can't get the door open. Thank goodness it has a door at each end so we can get in the other end when her new house is ready. At the end of the night their truck wouldn't start and my husband add to give them a jump start with his vehicle. I would never use them again.

Hello Susan, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on the recent move with Trek Movers. We understand that the duration of the move did not meet your expectations, and for this, we apologize. We take your feedback seriously as it helps us to improve our services. Moving, especially when ensuring the safety and care of belongings, can be a complex task where a one-size-fits-all time estimate often doesn’t apply. Our team is trained to handle each item with care, which sometimes means taking additional time to ensure everything is packed, moved, and stored correctly. We assure you that the safety of your daughter’s belongings and our team’s well-being are our top priorities, and we would not compromise these for the sake of expediency. Regarding the storage locker, we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the tight packing. Our intent is always to maximize space while keeping items secure. We also regret the inconvenience caused by the truck issue at the end of your move. While vehicle malfunctions are rare, we appreciate your husband's kindness in providing a jump start. Your feedback has been noted, and we will use it to evaluate our processes and make necessary adjustments. We value your business and would welcome the opportunity to restore your confidence in our services. If there is anything further we can do to assist, please contact us directly. Sincerely, Trek Movers Team

Trek movers moved the heavy and awkward furniture and knick knacks we couldn't and didn't want to move. They were on time worked continuously. Padded and wrapped up everything to protect it. Listened to my request and responded with my satisfaction. Understanding the price was easier than I expected. They will give you appropriate updates (timely and not over bearing). I just hope they don't change from giving this type of service. Also, I didn't experience any problems but if you do, it sure seems like they will treat you reasonably. I even tipped them... thanks guys.

Recap/Review: ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Gets Cool Under Pressure In “Erigah”

I guess Hy’Rell is a Efrosian.

Interesting. I was thinking Klingon.

Why not both? Maybe she’s half-Klingon, half-Efrosian…

Same.. I couldn’t tell if it was Klingon ridges or not. Wait… did I just racially profile a character over ridges and hair?

We definitely need to see 32nd century Klingons before the show is over. As much as I’l like a STIV deepcut, I hope she’s Klingon…

we will, some stunt guys leaked it before the season started said they’d be playing Klingon and Breen soldiers

She is indeed Efrosian — I’m a big fan of STVI.

I hope you all enjoy the episode, it’s a fun one. Our director Emmanuel knocked it out of the park!

That’s cool!

Woohoo!! I’m excited for this episode. Awesome to see an Efrosian again after all of this time!

My money is on Klingon…… Change the Hy to L and you have L’Rell.

Should be Klingon.

Er, a Discovery writer just told us here that she’s Efrosian.

Cool that one of the writers replied and let us know.

Brave soul to post on a trek site though. We can be a rowdy bunch at times.

I always loved the Efrosian in Voyage Home. “Here it comes now-”

Great voice on the actor, Nick Ramus, who I’m just learning was a member of the Blackfoot tribe.

Wow, I always thought he was an *Asian* Indian.

Same here, though with all the makeup it was hard to tell.

Looks like Ramus was in quite a few westerns. He passed away in 2007, age 77.

“…singular journey for Michael” this whole show has been only about Michael.

the only parts of this season i’ve enjoyed are Moll / L’ak and the Breen

“ this whole show has been only about Michael”

Just because you don’t like an African-American woman in the lead role doesn’t make this true.

Saru for example has had a major character arc over the course of the series. If you don’t see that, you can’t be helped. Also Culber/Stamets have gone through major, even soap opera level of stories with their relationship.

You could criticize the series for being too much about the characters. But the series being about the main character is a silly criticism. Or can I see your criticism about Kirk doing everything in TOS? Would like to see a link to that.

And before you come with the trite “but we don’t know nothing about the bridge crew!11!”: Tell me the names and character arcs of the people working in Ops of Deep Space Nine. I’ll wait (actually I won’t, I have better things to do).

If you don’t like a black woman lead, just say so.

This comment right here is why it is so difficult to get people to take actual issues around racism and misogyny serious.

Jan, your comment is completely unwarranted. Nothing in Sean’s comment suggested a racial component to his critique. I dislike the entire series as a matter of fact. Not because of the genders, racial origins or personal lives of the characters depicted or the cast – I just don’t like it Especially compared with Strange New worlds. An apology is in order.

Where did you get a racial dislike from what he said? All he said was “this whole show has been only about Michael” which is accurate (also the way the show was designed from Day 1, but I don’t see where he’s disputing that). So not sure where this criticism is coming from. I’ve been very critical of the character, but it has nothing to do with her race… I don’t think she has been written very well. My dislike of how they’ve written her has nothing to do with who is playing her. Sonequa is a wonderful actress and has elevated the writing because of it. The fact is, she and the character deserve better than they’ve gotten. Knock on wood, so far this season she has been written much better, where her character is concerned. None of that has anything to do with her race. But I have to defend Sean here, because I just don’t see where you get that from anything he said, and it’s unfair of you to project that on to anyone without knowing.

Wow, I just realized something beautiful. All the five clues are hidden within the worlds of all five classic legacy shows.

Fred, the Soong-type android = TNG Trill = DS9 ISS Enterprise = TOS Denobulan weather station = ENT Badlands = VOY

Well spotted!

Whoah, I really like this. Nice catch! That’s awesome!

Awesome observation Garth!

Excellent catch!!

I wonder if Hy’Rell is even a real person. The uniform looks very 23rd/24th century. Maybe it’s a projection of what Burnham expects to see.

Re: a closed thread below:

There’s a solid case to be made that Discovery has focused primarily on one character more than any Trek show before it.

Sure, the other shows sometimes gave the captain more attention than other characters (although I’d argue that Spock, Data, Worf, Kira, the Doctor, Seven and T’Pol often had the spotlight), but Discovery has been The Michael Burnham Show from the get-go, by design.

Nope. Solid character arcs for Saru, Stamets, Culber, even Book and Adira… Michael is the lead character but not to an extend any of the other characters get sidelined…

I think that’s true of any show centered around one central character. With TOS, there was the Troika of Kirk, Spock, Bones, all others were support with some occasional focus on them. Disco is no different, it’s just much more focused on one person, rather than a triumvirate.

I think the issue is the low episode count per season and length of time between seasons, combined with Discovery’s identity crisis and needing to reinvent itself every season, that prevents any meaningful connections to any of the supporting characters. The show was designed to be about Burnham’s journey, even if they seemed to be in a rush to shorten that journey by making her captain as fast as possible in my opinion.

The Berman era shows had more episodes to include the supporting cast than the new era of Trek does and there wasn’t that long of a wait between seasons to forget about what happened before.

You’re contradicting yourself. All of the other live action shows had as their primary focus the person in command as well. No exceptions. Yet Discovery sets off some people. Gee, what is the obvious difference between Discovery and all other live action Trek…..

Please don’t try to continue a contentious topic that we closed for a reason.

Dorian Grey chose a good role. No way he sees the portrait through that helmet.

Ha! But that was Gray. :-)

He’s good, he won’t see it burn either.

The production is amazing. That efrosion looks terrific. Wow! The make up artists and the costume designers are fantastic and deserve awards.

Perhaps it is just me, but I was thinking — not for the first time in modern Trek — that the latex on the Efrosian looks very latex-y, not like natural skin. I had the same reaction to Sneed in Picard and sometimes to Saru, especially this season.

An Efrosian, cool. Shout out to Mel Efros, the namesake and creator of the design.

Jenna Bush Hager Channels Her Mom, Former FLOTUS Laura Bush, with a Moving Tribute

The  TODAY  co-host shared a series of precious throwbacks for Mother's Day 2024.

trek movers photos

In honor of Mother's Day 2024,  Jenna Bush Hager  showed via Instagram that there's nothing sweeter than learning from your parents' best qualities and putting them into action with your own kids.

How to Watch

Watch TODAY weekdays at 7AM ET on NBC .

Hager fully channeled her mom, former First Lady Laura Bush, with an adorable photo drop showing her mother's influence on her as a parent. Through a series of pictures, Hager shared images of three generations of women in her family as they read to their daughters. The first showed Bush reading to Hager and her twin, Barbara Pierce Bush, when they were toddlers. The next photo depicted Laura and her own mother, while the third was a photo of Hager reading to her daughters Mila and Poppy when they were babies.

"Happiest mama's day to my beautiful one Laura Bush… like mother, like mother!" Hager captioned the moving pot. "Thanks to you and your mama for bringing all things beautiful into my life! And… bringing me into my life!"

See the amazing Instagram post here.

Laura Bush and Jenna Bush Hager hug on the today show

However, as anyone who's been following Hager's stories about her family on  TODAY  knows, it's not all "picture-perfect photos" regarding her kids! We still are laughing about her recent eventful April Fool's Day , which involved her son Hal, 4, rigging up a toilet with plastic wrap, and, well... you can guess the rest.

"We've created monsters who just do things like wrap their parent's toilets," she famously admitted to co-anchor  Hoda Kotb .

As for Hager's dad, former President George W. Bush, fans couldn't help but notice that Hal shared a striking resemblance to his grandpa. Viewers took note when the young boy made a surprise appearance on  TODAY  in April.

"We've been waiting for this booking. It took a lot of phone calls and prying, but after five years, this guest is finally making his appearance," her co-host Hoda Kotb said. "Ladies and gentlemen, Hal Hager!"

The 4-year-old ran from backstage and literally jumped into his mother's arms in the most heartwarming moment.

Split of Hal Hager and George W Bush

"He looks SO MUCH like his Grandpa! Like his doppelgänger! It’s all I could see, lol," wrote one fan  on Instagram  in the comments. "He reminds me [of] his Grandfather a lot," said another.

Electric mutual aid crews trek into Tallahassee as efforts to restore power continue

It’s all-hands-on-deck in the capital city as hundreds of linemen work to get power back on.

City of Tallahassee crews work to restore power after severe weather on May 10.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Crews from as far as Dothan, Alabama, and Lafayette, Louisiana, are rolling into Tallahassee as the city works to restore power to thousands of customers.

Tallahassee is part of a mutual aid agreement designed exactly for situations like the strong line of storms that blew through on Friday, causing widespread damage. At one point in the day, outage reports topped more than 100,000.

The Florida Municipal Electric Association released a statement at 3:30 p.m. Friday, announcing it “called on its national mutual aid network to bring in more than 215 personnel from 20 utilities in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia and South Carolina.”

Many of those workers hit the road immediately, and the City of Tallahassee shared its gratitude in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Thank you, @LafUtilities ! Grateful for the support of our mutual aid partners from near and far coming to assist! #MutualAid https://t.co/o3fYLXfOng — City of Tallahassee (@CityofTLH) May 11, 2024

Orlando Utilities Commission also posted about its journey into Tallahassee.

At last check, the city reported all substations that were impacted by the storms had energy restored. Crews are still working to get service back to many other areas.

The city said restoration could take through the weekend for some people.

King Charles praises son Prince William as a 'very good pilot' as he hands over military role - best photos

The prince of wales joined his father at the airfield at middle wallop.

Danielle Stacey

The King praised the Prince of Wales , calling him a "very good pilot" as he handed over his former military role to his son and heir.

Prince William, 41, officially became Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps as he joined his father, Charles, 75, at the handover ceremony at Middle Wallop in Hampshire on Monday.

The King, who was welcomed by a Guard of Honour after arriving at the Army Aviation Centre via helicopter, toured the Army Flying Museum, where he delivered a touching speech, which you can watch in full below…

"I did just want to say what a great joy it is to be with you even briefly on this occasion," Charles began. "But also tinged with great sadness after 32 years of knowing you all and admiring all your many activities and your achievements throughout the time, I've been lucky enough to be Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps."

He added: "So all I can say is that having had the pleasure of knowing you for so long, I do hope you'll go from strength to strength in the future with the Prince of Wales as your new Colonel-in-Chief. The great thing is he's a very good pilot indeed so that's encouraging. So ladies and gentlemen, look after yourselves and, and, and I can't tell you how proud it has made me to be involved with you all this time."

The Army Air Corps is the Duke of Sussex's old unit, in which he served as an Apache helicopter commander and co-pilot gunner during his second tour to Afghanistan in 2012. The King's decision to hand the role to William was seen as a blow to Harry when it was announced last year.

Charles and William sharing a laugh

The King and the Prince of Wales were spotted sharing a chuckle as William arrived at the airfield for the handover ceremony. The new military appointment was announced last August, with Charles handing over the role after 32 years.

The father and son posed for photographs in front of an Apache helicopter for the official handover. William served in the Army with the Blues and Royals and as an RAF search and rescue pilot.

Three years as a search and rescue pilot saw him conduct 156 operations, take on routine operational deployment to the Falkland Islands and qualify as an operational Captain.

After leaving the Armed Forces, William retrained to become an air ambulance pilot and worked with the East Anglian Air Ambulance for more than two years from March 2015.

It was also announced last August that William has taken on the roles of Colonel-in-Chief of the Mercian Regiment and Royal Honorary Air Commodore of RAF Valley.

Before the King departed and the Prince of Wales carried out his first engagement with the regiment, there was time for a group photograph.

King Charles speaks to locals at Army Aviation Centre

Earlier in the day, as Charles arrived at the airfield,  he went on an impromptu walkabout to greet some schoolchildren from Middle Wallop School, who were gathered waving Union flags. Asked if their parents are part of the regiment, he was told that 60 to 70 percent are.

The King delivered a moving speech before unveiling a plaque commemorating an Apache AH Mk.1 going on display, the first of its kind to be installed at a UK museum.

"All that time on operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, I watched with them again, immense admiration for what you did and managed to do out there," Charles said. "And of course, with this remarkable Apache, I remember, I think I probably was taken up with one of these ones all those years ago and I shall never forget it.

"Nor will I forget the fact that when I first became Colonel-in-Chief, you still had quite a few fix me aircraft, one or two, which I flew in along with some rather ancient helicopters."

William wore the regiment's uniform as he carried out his first-ever engagement with the Army Air Corps in his new role as its Colonel-in-Chief.

The Prince first received a briefing on the Army Air Corps' current work from the Colonel Commandant, Lieutenant General Sir Nicholas Borton.

As storms move across Texas, 1 child dies after being swept away in floodwaters

  • Copy Link copied

HOUSTON (AP) — Storms in Texas brought additional rain Sunday to the already saturated Houston area where hundreds of people have been rescued from flooded homes and roads, while to the north in the Fort Worth area, a child died after being swept away when the car he was traveling in got stuck in floodwaters.

Over the last week, areas near Lake Livingston, located northeast of Houston, have gotten upwards of 23 inches (58 centimeters) of rain, National Weather Service meteorologist Jimmy Fowler said on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, he said, areas in northeastern Harris County, the nation’s third-largest county that includes Houston, had a range of 6 inches (15 centimeters) to almost 17 inches (43 centimeters) of rain in that same period.

Scattered showers in the Houston area on Sunday brought light to moderate rainfall, he said.

“With the rainfall that fell overnight plus this morning it just kind of prolonged the river flooding that we were experiencing,” Fowler said.

He said the rain would taper off in the evening, with no heavy rain events expected in the next week or so.

CHILD DIES IN FLOODWATERS

In Johnson County, located south of Fort Worth, a 4-year-old boy died when he was swept away after the vehicle he was riding in became stuck in swift-moving water near the community of Lillian just before 2 a.m. Sunday, an official said.

The child and two adults were trying to get to dry ground when they were swept away, Jamie Moore, the Johnson County Emergency Management director, wrote in a Facebook post.

The two adults were rescued around 5 a.m. and taken to a hospital, while the child was found dead around 7:20 a.m. in the water, Moore said.

Storms brought as 9 inches (23 centimeters) of rain in a span of six to eight hours in some areas from central Texas to the Dallas-Fort Worth area overnight, said National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Stalley. He said the rains washed out some roads west of Waco.

HOUSTON-AREA RIVER LEVELS

Over the last few days, storms have forced numerous high-water rescues in the Houston area, including some from the rooftops of flooded homes.

Jeff Lindner, a meteorologist with the Harris County Flood Control District, said Sunday afternoon that “things are improving slowly.”

“We have water going down on our river systems,” said Lindner. The San Jacinto River crested on Saturday, with its east and west forks and main stem below Lake Houston falling from 1 foot (0.30 meters) to 3 feet (0.91 meters) overnight. he said.

Lindner said that so far, Sunday’s additional rain did not seem to be causing any new flooding. He urged people to still be cautious, noting that many areas are still flooded.

“We really need everybody to give it just another day before we feel comfortable that conditions are safe,” Lindner said.

Greg Moss, 68, was staying put in his recreational vehicle on Sunday after leaving his home in the community of Channelview in eastern Harris County near the San Jacinto River. On Saturday, he packed up many of his belongings and left before the road to his home flooded.

“I would be stuck for four days,” Moss said. “So now at least I can go get something to eat.”

Moss moved his belongings and vehicle to a neighbor’s home, where planned to stay until the waters recede. He said Sunday that the floodwaters had already gone down by a couple of feet and that he wasn’t worried his home would flood because it’s located on higher ground.

“It’ll be OK to go in there in the morning,” he said.

HOUSTON PRONE TO FLOODING

Houston is one of the most flood-prone metro areas in the country. The city of more than 2 million people has long experience dealing with devastating weather.

Hurricane Harvey in 2017 dumped historic rainfall that flooded thousands of homes and resulted in more than 60,000 rescues by government personnel across Harris County.

The greater Houston area covers about 10,000 square miles (25,900 square kilometers), a footprint slightly bigger than New Jersey. It is crisscrossed by about 1,700 miles (2,700 kilometers) of channels, creeks and bayous draining into the Gulf of Mexico, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) southeast of downtown.

The system of bayous and reservoirs was built to drain heavy rains, but the engineering initially designed nearly 100 years ago has struggled to keep up with the city’s growth and bigger storms.

Stengle contributed to this report from Dallas. Associated Press reporter Juan A. Lozano also contributed to this report.

This story was first published on May 5, 2024. It was updated on May 6, 2024 to correct the age of the child who died after being swept away in floodwaters to 4 instead of 5.

Shannon Sharpe Addresses His Ongoing Feud with Shaquille O’Neal: 'I'm Ready to Move On' (Exclusive)

Earlier this month Sharpe and O’Neal engaged in a war of words that exploded into an online back-and-forth

The recent online scuffle between Shannon Sharpe and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal continues to keep sports fans intrigued — and Sharpe just addressed the situation at the Webby Awards red carpet on Monday, May 13.

Earlier this month, Sharpe and O’Neal's disagreement over the 2024 NBA MVP choice led to a war of words that included an unexpected diss track from O’Neal on May 10.

Speaking on the red carpet for this year’s Webby Awards to celebrate the best in online content on May 13, Sharpe told PEOPLE he doesn't have a problem with the NBA legend and he was ready to move on.

When asked if he had anything more to say to O'Neal, Sharpe, 55, said no.

"I mean, I don't have no problem with Shaq," the Pro Football Hall of Famer tells PEOPLE. "He said what he said, I'm ready to move on."

The feud between the two sports figures started when Sharpe accused O'Neal of being jealous of Denver Nuggets player Nikola Jokic . After Jokic won his third NBA MVP title in four years on May 8, O'Neal interviewed him for Inside the NBA , ultimately telling Jokic, 29, he thought the award should have gone to Oklahoma City Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander instead.

Sharpe, who didn’t agree with O’Neal’s comment, shared on his podcast The Nightcap that he believes O'Neal — who has only one MVP trophy from his Hall of Fame NBA career — was partly "envious of that," referring to Jokic's longer list of MVP accolades.

Mat Hayward/Getty

Following O'Neal taking shots at the Club Shay Shay podcast host on Instagram for not being "ranked in the top 10" of his own "profession," he upped the ante and returned with some lyrics calling Sharpe out to further make his case.

O'Neal said Sharpe is "way beneath me" in the track and called Sharpe's podcast a "bulls--- podcast."

"Your whole demeanor is faker than new rapper beefy/ You’re soft before you get fly, you’d rather tweet me/ I was in three different cars when you was in three feet/ All I see is dollar signs, they coming in 3-D,” O'Neal raps. “Make it hot, ain’t no way around my degrees/ You are not in my spot, you are like a peewee."

Mike Johnson saved: House kills effort from Marjorie Taylor Greene to oust speaker

WASHINGTON – The House soundly killed an effort to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., from his leadership post in another defeat to the lower chamber’s most conservative lawmakers.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., forced the House to vote on a “motion to vacate,” a procedural tool that if passed, would have forcibly removed Johnson from the speakership.

But the vast majority of House Republicans and Democrats joined together on Wednesday to dismiss Greene’s push through what's known as a motion to table by a vote of 359-43, drowning out the conservative renegades who wanted to remove Johnson.

A group of 32 Democrats and 11 Republicans voted against tabling Greene's motion.

Speaking to reporters after the vote, Johnson thanked his colleagues “for the vote of confidence” and pledged to continue to do his job.“In this moment this country desperately needs a functioning Congress,” he said. “And that’s what an overwhelming majority of the Republican members of this body chose today.”

Prep for the polls: See who is running for president and compare where they stand on key issues in our Voter Guide

Greene initiated her push to oust Johnson in March but withheld calling up a vote for over a month, sowing doubt among lawmakers over how serious the Georgia Republican’s threats were.  She told reporters on Wednesday that she felt she gave Johnson enough time to consider conservative demands and wanted to move ahead as promised.

"If you talk to anybody in my district at home, when I ran for Congress, I told them, I'm sick and tired of the Republican Party that never does what they say they're going to do," Greene said.

Democrats joined the majority of Republicans to defeat Greene’s effort after Johnson passed a long-awaited foreign aid package that sent $95 billion to key U.S. allies, including Ukraine. Democrats commended the speaker for not bowing to his hard-right flank, which has grown increasingly hostile toward any continued U.S. assistance to the war-torn nation.

“We will vote to table Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Motion to Vacate the Chair. If she invokes the motion, it will not succeed,” House Democratic leaders said in a statement last week.

Some Democrats still moved to advance Greene’s motion, having reservations about saving the speaker over his key role in efforts to overturn the 2020 election . Democratic lawmakers also took aim at Johnson's conservative credentials such as his anti-abortion views.

House Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar, D-Calif., the No. 3 ranking House Democrat, framed the vote last week as an effort against Greene, rather than one saving Johnson, saying “We want to turn the page and we want to move on.”

Following the vote, former President Donald Trump complimented Greene in a post on Truth Social but added that he believes Republicans were "not in a position" to be voting to remove the GOP speaker of the House.

"If we show DISUNITY, which will be portrayed as CHAOS, it will negatively affect everything! Mike Johnson is a good man who is trying very hard," Trump shared.

The vote was a stark contrast from last year when a set of different conservative rebels moved to oust Johnson’s predecessor, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. That time, Democrats unanimously voted to remove McCarthy, who drew much more scorn from them compared with Johnson.

But even though the hard right has had wide-ranging grievances against the speaker, there was little appetite among other conservatives to oust Johnson in an election year, with some members preferring to litigate a speaker fight in the next Congress.

Democrats control the Senate and the White House, which means bills have required bipartisan support in recent years if lawmakers want to get anything done. However, Greene and her fellow conservatives have railed against Johnson for working with Democrats to pass critical legislation, including funding the government and reauthorizing a foreign surveillance program.

Ultraconservatives have repeatedly criticized Johnson as the speaker of the “uniparty,” a pejorative term used to criticize bipartisanship. The vote on Wednesday, where Democrats swooped in to rescue Johnson only further hardened their anger.

“They failed us. They funded the uniparty agenda. They funded the status quo that Washington, D.C., just wants to keep going and going,” Greene said at a press conference last week announcing her intentions to move forward to remove Johnson. On Wednesday, she also accused Democrats of controlling the speaker

While Johnson is likely to stay in his leadership post after beating back Greene’s effort, nothing is stopping Greene from continuing her push. House rules allow just one member to file a motion to vacate, and the Georgia lawmaker on Wednesday didn't commit to not trying to remove the speaker again.

Tornadoes ripped through Michigan on Tuesday evening, injuring residents, damaging nearly 200 mobile homes and lifting some off the ground, and trapping dozens of FedEx workers inside a building, officials said.

Over a dozen tornadoes were reported in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio on Tuesday night as severe storms battered the Midwest, officials said. A handful of others were reported early Wednesday in Arizona and West Virginia. The threat of tornadoes ended in many areas before midnight on Tuesday.

One of the hardest hit counties was Kalamazoo in Southern Michigan, where officials said multiple tornadoes caused significant damage. One tornado tore through a mobile home park, damaging about 176 homes inside the park, Rick Fuller, the county sheriff, said at a news conference early Wednesday.

Strong winds carried away some of the homes, Sheriff Fuller said. “We found homes in the roadway, we found homes in neighbors’ homes. We found large trees in homes. We found many vehicles that had been smashed by large trees or homes,” he said.

Between 16 and 20 people were injured at the mobile home park, but none were seriously hurt and no fatalities had been reported so far, Sheriff Fuller said.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency for Kalamazoo and the neighboring counties of St. Joseph, Branch and Cass, which were also pummeled by storms and large hail.

About 50 workers were trapped inside a FedEx depot center in Kalamazoo County after it suffered significant damage, county officials said. The workers had all been safely rescued from the building by early Wednesday, a statement from the Kalamazoo County Government said. No serious injuries were reported, a FedEx spokeswoman said.

Over 30,000 customers across Michigan were without power early Wednesday, according to PowerOutage.us .

The storms were expected to continue on Wednesday. Forecasters said roughly 9.5 million people in cities in Ohio and Kentucky, including Columbus, Cincinnati and Louisville, faced an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms on Wednesday, with the possibility of strong tornadoes and large hail, according to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center .

On Monday night, at least 15 tornadoes were reported to have struck parts of the Plains . One tornado that was up to two miles wide ripped through Barnsdall, Okla., a city about 40 miles northwest of Tulsa, killing one person, an Osage County official said.

One Osage County official said it had caused multiple injuries and leveled about a third of the small city, which has a population of about 1,000. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that up to 40 homes in the town had been damaged.

Downed power lines along a chain-link fence in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

The tornado also lifted the roof off a nursing home in Barnsdall, though all residents were accounted for with no injuries or deaths, officials said.

Mayor Johnny Kelley said one person was reported missing.

“We are going through the debris very thoroughly,” Mr. Kelley said at a news conference on Tuesday.

Considering the widespread destruction, it was “shocking” there were so few casualties, he said: “The devastation is pretty substantial.”

The tornado also caused power outages in Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma. But by early Tuesday, power had been largely restored.

In Bartlesville, Okla., about 20 miles southwest of Barnsdall, city officials said that emergency responders had rescued people trapped at a Hampton Inn and were recovering downed power lines early Tuesday. Only minor injuries had been reported.

Rescue operations were also ongoing at the Osage Nation Reservation, where officials warned residents to stay clear of the roadways and damaged areas.

Johnny Diaz , Judson Jones , John Yoon and Jesus Jiménez contributed reporting.
