Vaccination Requirements for Work Pass Holders

* There may be administrative, health and vaccination requirements that are in addition or differ from the measures above. Refer to the  ICA website  for details.

^ Refer to  https://go.gov.sg/remote-art-overseas-sg  for a list of approved remotely supervised ART Pre-Departure Test providers, and the travellers that this service applies to.

# For example, if a traveller is scheduled to depart for Singapore on 3 November 2022 2359 hours, the earliest he can take his Pre-Departure Test is on 1 November 2022 0001 hours.

Non-fully Vaccinated Long-Term Pass Holders (LTPHs) and Short Term Visitors (STVs) aged 13 and above

Currently, non-fully vaccinated Long-Term Pass Holders (LTPHs) and STVs aged 13 and above are required to apply for entry approval to enter Singapore. We will also lift this requirement from  28 August 2022, 2359 hours . As LTPHs are expected to stay in Singapore for a longer period of time, they will continue to be required to fulfil vaccination requirements after their arrival in Singapore, to maintain the high vaccination rates in our population and keep all of us safe.

Travellers tested positive for COVID-19 overseas

Travellers who test positive for COVID-19 overseas are advised to follow the recovery protocols of the host country. For travel to Singapore, those who have tested positive for COVID-19 should defer their travel plans and not board commercial flights or ferries, as they may infect fellow passengers and crew while infectious. They should only resume their travel when they test negative, and at least 72 hours from the time they first test positive. [1]

[1] Or on Day 7 for vaccinated persons (and children below 12 years old) if they continue to test positive. Non-fully vaccinated persons aged 12 years and above should only resume travel on Day 14 if they continue to test positive.

Transiting through Singapore

If you are transiting through Singapore to another destination without clearing immigration, refer to the " Transiting through Singapore " page instead.

Travelling to the UK from Singapore

There are separate guidance for travelling to  Wales ,  Scotland   and  Northern Ireland .

There are no travel restrictions and requirement to travel to England. Travellers do not need to complete the UK Passenger Locator Form, do not need to take any COVID-19 tests before they travel or after they arrive and do not need to quarantine.

For detailed information on travelling to England, please visit  here .

From 14 July 2021, individuals who have received COVID-19 vaccination overseas with COVID-19 vaccines authorized by the Health Sciences Authority under the Pandemic Special Access Route (PSAR) or listed on the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) can have their vaccination records updated in the National Immunization Registry when they return to Singapore.

To do so, they should have documentation proof of their overseas vaccination and a positive serology test result in Singapore. The serology test can be done at selected private healthcare providers.

For detailed information, please see MOH press release at  https://moh.gov.sg/news-highlights/details/updates-on-vaccination-records .

To sustain the high vaccination rates in our population, support safe reopening of our society and economy, and minimise business disruptions, COVID-19 vaccination will continue to be a condition  for the approval of all new applications  for long-term passes and work passes. For renewal applications, vaccination will also continue to be required  for the renewal of existing work passes  for Work Permit Holders and S Pass Holders (a) from the Construction, Marine Shipyard and Process sectors or (b) residing in dormitories, given that their worksites and dormitories are settings at higher risk of disease spread. [1]  The revised vaccination requirements for work pass renewals will take effect from 1 October 2022 . Please refer to the Ministry of Manpower’s (MOM)  website  for more details.

[1]  Other work pass renewals will no longer be subject to a vaccination requirement from 1 October 2022.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a ministry of the Government of Singapore responsible for conducting and managing diplomatic relations between Singapore and other countries and regions.

Singapore travel restrictions from the UK explained

Singapore

Singapore's Changi Airport was named as the world's best airport in our Readers' Choice Awards 2021 , but beyond its duty free, the city-state is a buzzing metropolis of world-class restaurants, hotels and shopping centres (think Las Vegas proportions, complete with inside waterways and gondola rides). As of October 2021, the destination's move to ease restrictions for vaccinated individuals has prompted a rush to book flights – but can you travel to Singapore from the UK? Here's everything you need to know…

Can I travel to Singapore from the UK?

Yes: in October 2021, Singapore re-opened its borders to a vetted list of countries – including the UK – after 21 months.

What are the travel restrictions for visiting Singapore?

Previously, those travelling to Singapore from other countries either had to quarantine at a hotel at their own expense or, for arrivals from some states, such as Australia, isolate in a location of their choosing. The latest regulations mean that fully-vaccinated travellers from the UK can enter the city-state without quarantining.

The rule change is part of Singapore's Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) scheme, and means that passengers arriving from countries who are part of this scheme (which includes the UK) will not have to quarantine if they have been fully vaccinated. As of Tuesday 26 April, restrictions will continue to lift, with vaccinated travellers no longer needing to test before departure to Singapore (on-arrival tests have been waived since 1 April).

Singapore will accept the UK’s proof of Covid-19 recovery and vaccination record . Your NHS appointment card from vaccination centres is not designed to be used as proof of vaccination and should not be used to demonstrate your vaccine status.

Unvaccinated travellers cannot enter Singapore unless they are a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident. It is possible to apply for permission to enter for exceptional reasons, such as compassionate grounds. Find out more about how you can apply to enter Singapore .

Do I need to take a PCR test to enter Singapore from the UK?

No, as of 26 April 2022 fully vaccinated travellers to Singapore no longer need to take a pre-departure Covid test.

Do I need to isolate when coming from Singapore to the UK?

As of 18 March 2022, all Covid travel rules in the UK were lifted, which means that no travellers – regardless of their vaccination status – need to test, quarantine or fill in a passenger locator form when travelling to the UK.

Singapore Entry Requirements for UK Citizens

Tourist Visa Needed

(for stays of up to 90 days)

Arrival Card Needed

What British need to enter to Singapore

All foreign nationals, including British citizens, must hold a valid Singapore Arrival Card (SGAC) to enter Singapore. The SGAC is an e-service introduced in order to simplify the process of registering arrivals into the country . In addition, it makes document checks at the Singapore border smoother and faster.

The SG Arrival Card replaces the paper-based Disembarkation/Embarkation Card for Singapore, which has now been discontinued.

Do British Nationals Need an Arrival Card to Visit Singapore

All travellers from the United Kingdom, regardless of the purpose and duration of their visit, must obtain a Singapore tourist card for British nationals .

It is important to keep in mind that the SGAC for the UK is not a visa . It is actually a mandatory entry requirement for all foreign visitors. British nationals who need a visa must submit a separate application either online or at the nearest embassy or consulate.

The SGAC for British travellers is valid for 90 days from the date of entry in Singapore for visa-free stays.

What Singapore visas are available for British nationals?

Singapore offers several types of visas that fall into one of two broad categories: short-term tourist visas and long-term visas .

British passport holders who wish to stay in Singapore for less than 90 days for tourism, leisure, or family visits, can travel visa-free. Long-term Singapore visas are available for UK citizens who intend to remain in the country for extended periods of time, work, study, or move to Singapore .

Note that the visa eligibility status does not in any way affect the need to obtain an SG Arrival Card for British citizens, and vice versa. Having successfully obtained a Singapore Arrival Card does not waive the UK holder’s visa requirements.

What are the SGAC entry requirements for the UK?

The SGAC entry requirements for UK citizens are minimal and include having:

  • Access to a reliable internet connection and a device like a mobile phone, laptop, or tablet that will be used for online application
  • A UK passport with at least 6 months of validity left from the intended date of arrival in Singapore
  • A completed Singapore tourist card application form
  • An active email address for all communication regarding the SG Arrival Card
  • A debit or credit card to complete the online payment of the Singapore Arrival Card processing fee.

Because the SGAC is electronically linked to the passport used during the application, British candidates must use the same passport for applying for the SG Arrival Card and entering Singapore. That is also something dual citizens with multiple passports need to keep in mind. Some travellers from the UK may be required to show additional documentation such as:

  • Proof of onward or return travel
  • Financial evidence such as a bank statement showing that the SGAC holder can pay for their stay in Singapore
  • Vaccine certificates.

How to apply for a Singapore Arrival Card as British traveller

Obtaining an SGAC for British passport holders is a quick and easy process that can be done online in a matter of minutes. Although it is possible to help someone else complete their SGAC application, each request must be submitted individually.

To successfully complete the application, travellers must fill out the personal details and passport information in the application form including:

  • Nationality
  • Date of birth
  • Place of birth
  • Passport number
  • Passport country
  • Date of issue of the passport
  • Date of expiry of the passport
  • Home address
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Travel plans

After they have confirmed that all the information entered in the application form is correct, candidates will be asked to pay for the SGAC application fee through a secure online payment system. Payment can be done using any internationally recognised debit or credit card.

UK applicants will receive all communications regarding their Singapore Arrival Card via email to the address they have provided on the application form. It is, therefore, essential to regularly check the email address for notifications and status updates.

British SGAC holders can present their tourist card in its electronic format on their phone or another mobile device , along with their passport, upon arrival in Singapore.

Please note that the Singapore arrival card does not in itself guarantee entry into the country. The final decision is up to the Singaporean border control and immigration authorities.

Singapore Arrival Card for British visitors: Processing time

SGAC online applications are in most cases processed within one business day . However, applicants should submit their request at least 5 days prior to departure to allow enough time for delays that may be caused by public holidays and missing or incomplete information in the application form.

Register with the British Embassy in Singapore

UK citizens are highly recommended to register with the British Embassy before travelling to Singapore. Although most trips are problem-free, registered visitors enjoy greater peace of mind. British tourists who enrol with the embassy:

  • Receive the latest safety and security information about Singapore
  • Can be contacted and assisted more easily in exceptional circumstances such as a natural disaster
  • Help family get in touch if there is an emergency whilst they’re away from home

British travellers can register their details with the embassy when applying for a Singapore Arrival Card through this website. To opt-in, applicants should select the UK Embassy Registration service on the payment page.

What is the Climate Like in Singapore?

Singapore’s climate is tropical, with lots of rainfall and humidity. Temperature is consistent, with averages around the mid-20’s throughout the year. Singapore is generally hottest in April and May and coolest in December and January.

Due to its near to the equator, Singapore does not have delineated wet and dry seasons. The country experiences two monsoon seasons, the northeast monsoon season from around December to March has more frequent rains. The southwest monsoon season, brings drier months from around May to September.

Travellers should be prepared for rain and humidity. Thunderstorms are frequent. Drink plenty of water and cool off indoors.

How Safe is Singapore?

Singapore is generally considered safe for travellers, and the crime rate is low. Travellers should keep track of their private belongings, especially whilst travelling in crowded places or by public transportation.

Be aware of the presence of extremist groups in Southeast Asia that have attacked neighbouring countries. In general, areas frequented by Westerners and UK citizens may be at a higher risk for terrorist attacks.

Singapore has some harsh penalties for items that many may view as fairly mundane. This includes:

  • Arrests for jaywalking, littering or spitting
  • Caning for graffiti or other kinds of vandalism
  • Imprisonment, caning or fine for immigration violations

Sexually inappropriate behaviour, lewd remarks and violations of modesty can also be harshly punished.

Paralytic and disorderly conduct is punishable by fine or prison time. In many areas it is illegal to consume alcohol between 10:30 pm and 7:00 am in public places.

Singapore does not recognise same-sex unions, and LGBT travellers may face challenges or discrimination. The Penal Code criminalizes “acts of gross indecency” between two men, though the government has said it will not enforce this statute.

Travellers without their passports may be taken in for questioning.

What Should I Pack for Singapore?

Here are some essential items to consider for your trip to Singapore:

  • Insect repellent and sun cream.
  • An umbrella and rain jacket, waterproof clothing and shoes
  • Light, breathable clothing
  • Travel documents like passport and visa
