Lot 131 - 1982 Land Rover Series III 88 Country (short wheelbase)
The iconic Land Rover Series I, II, and III (commonly referred to as 'Series' Land Rovers, to distinguish them from later models) are off-road vehicles produced by the British manufacturer, Land Rover. Land Rover claim that 70% of the vehicles ever made are still in use today - a claim first made in the 1992 brochure and repeated many times since. This is a brave claim for any motor manufacturer but judging by the mechanical efficiency of this 1982 example, one that we would be reluctant to refute.
This fantastically original 1982 Series III was originally supplied to Land Rover UK Ltd, Solihull in May 1982 and used as a demonstrator until it was sold to its first keeper, a Mr. Bourne from Toot Baldon. Mr Bourne has remained the keeper until this day and as such for a Land Rover has covered very few miles, just 54,500, from new. Since 1998, YDU 166X has been dry stored and declared SORN having seen little or no use. Earlier this year, it was fully re-commissioned ready for a new owner. Boasting original safari top and wheels wrapped in new tyres this example has not been cannibalised like so many and holds a lovely patina just as any self-respecting Series III should. Offered with a V5 registration document and new MoT test certificate until May 2018, this is a fantastic opportunity to purchase a sought-after original example with low ownership and mileage, with Land Rover no longer producing this type, this Series III can also be considered an appreciating British classic.

1982 Land Rover Stage 1 V8 110 Safari Roof
The series i land rover was built from 1948-57, flat sided, in 1950, the lights moved from a position behind the grille to protruding through the grille. the station wagon introduced in 1956 the series ii from 1958-70, it got barrelled sides to cover the vehicles wider track. in 1969 with the series iia, the headlights were moved into the wings the 1971-85 series iii got a new plastic grille replacing earlier metal ones, new trim options were introduced to make the interior more comfortable. the 1982 county station wagon got cloth seats, soundproofing etc. the series iii was available in 2 door 88 inch wheelbase or 4 door 109 inch wheelbase and pickup. from 1979-85, the stage 1 was built using some of the same components as the range rover, such as a detuned version of the 3500cc rover v8 engine (91hp, down from 135) and permanent 4wd .
The Land Rover Defender is an off-road vehicle produced under this name by the British manufacturer, Land Rover, since 1991. However, the vehicle is the direct heir of the first Land Rover that made its debut in 1948. The first prototype was built by the British automaker in 1947 and it was designed for the army. This iconic car was improved over the years and it has been known for generations as a national treasure.

Kaylee Goncalves' car was picked up from the Moscow, Idaho, city lot on Thursday. Two Moscow police officers in plain clothes were spotted helping a man start the car and scrape ice off of it.
EXCLUSIVE: A family lawyer retrieved Idaho murder victim Kaylee Goncalves' Range Rover on Thursday afternoon from a Moscow city storage lot.
Attorney Shanon Gray helped a pair of Moscow police officers scrape ice from the windshield and brush away snow on the 2016 Range Rover Evoque that Goncalves excitedly purchased days before her slaying.
At around 3 p.m., Gray drove off in the silver SUV nearly six weeks after Goncalves was killed in a rental home near the University of Idaho campus.

Kaylee Goncalves, her best friend Madison "Maddie" Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin were stabbed to death inside the King Road house between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Nov. 13.

The Range Rover was one of five cars towed from the property about three weeks ago.

"She just bought a brand-new vehicle for herself, her first vehicle," Kaylee's mother Kristi Goncalves told Fox News' Lawrence Jones last month. "She went home Friday to literally go show off her new vehicle. She was like, ‘Maddie has to see my new ride. Like, she has to see this.’ And she was talking to Maddie the whole time going back and forth between the car she was buying."

The luxury car symbolized the promising future that had awaited Kaylee, who was set to graduate in December, embark on a backpacking trip across Europe in January and start a well-paid marketing job in Austin, Texas, in February.

"She was a hard worker, always having a full time job on top of her studies even in high school," according to her obituary. "Kaylee loved the nicer things in life and took a lot of pride in buying those things for herself."
Kernodle's blue Honda was picked up from the city lot on Wednesday.

Police have not identified a suspect or recovered the large fixed-blade knife they believe was used in the horrific attack that has left the small college town reeling from grief.
The coroner said the victims were likely ambushed as they slept and each was stabbed multiple times.

Investigators are asking the public for tips to help track down a white 2011 to 2013 Hyundai that was seen near the crime scene in the early morning hours of Nov. 13.

Much better than stuffing it in a bank. I've wanted an old leaf spring Land Rover for years. Just missed a great one a couple of years ago at a bargain price. Some day. Best of luck with the gearbox rebuild. If you read Classic Land Rover or Classic and Sportscar it seems like Martin Port had similar problems with the gearbox in his Series 2a.
