2004 F350 5.4l fuel pump relay?

One of the work trucks came home just fine yesterday, and will not start this morning. Truck is a '04 F350 w/ 5.4 gasser. I pulled the fuel line off at the filter, cranked it, and no fuel. Replaced the fuse and have a fuel pump relay, but can't find where it goes. All the google results are for an Expedition or Excursion which are wired differently. Can anyone point me in the right direction?  

Fuel pump relay is integral to the central junction box and is non replaceable. Have you checked the inertia switch? If that is good you need to check for power at the pump.  

on the o4 f150 the fuel pump relay is on top of the spare tire. I had the same symptoms as yours did. came home worked good next day nothing. I replaced the relay and bingo Hope that helps  

On the F-150's, the module above the spare is called the fuel pump driver module. I've replaced a few, but not sure if a 350 is the same  

That would be the fuel pump driver module. Only the 3v 5.4L's got those. His will still be a 2v engine.

Hey thanks @Kenerator for posting this. I have 150k on my Exp and have not had issues yet, but I will follow your advice and will buy the solder sucker and wick. Still saves alot of money even after buying the right tools compared to buying a whole new fusebox, which I recently saw is something like $350-400.

Just completed my 2nd relay replacement on my buddy’s 2004 EB. His relay failed identically to mine. Thankfully installing the new one was uneventful. It’s a great feeling to turn the key and hear the engine start right up.

Hey there everyone. I just did a fuel pump relay (R303) replacement on my 2003 expy. After reinstalling fuse box and connecting everything back up I went to turn key and my motor tried to turn over but doesn't seem like it's getting the right amount of fuel. It seems closer to being fixed then before I swapped the relay but I'm still not quite there. Any suggestions on what might still be the issue? Thanks in advance for anyone able to help. I really need this thing to start up and run for me asap and I'm getting frustrated. I may be in over my head...

67sunbeam, this is a rather complex system. The actual fuel pump,relay is located in the central conjunction box which is located behind the left kick panel. IT IS NON SERVACEABLE according to Ford. There is an inertia switch inside the left rear cab corner near the bottom. Just push it into the relay, if it was tripped, it will click.There is a fuseable link in the engine compartment next to the battery on the engine side. Aside from that, the fuel pump it self could have connection problems and more. Beyond the simple things, unless you fix cars for a living, it may cost you more to fix it you self than to bring it to a pro.

I know this an old post but, there is a known issue on these. The circuit board within the fuse box is faulty. Getting the repaired is in only a temporary fix, unfortunately the only true fix is to replace with the updated circuit board in the newer numbered fuse boxes. I’ve done a stand alone relay out of the fuse box, replaced the relay on the board and the same issues kept occurring every 6 months or so. The last time it happened it actually got so hot it burned the circuit board itself. Replaced it with the updated one and boom no more issues. I know it’s expensive to replace but the added cost of burning up a fuel pump and/ or the fire hazard it is worth the money.

The fuel pump relay is soldered on the circuit board inside the fuse box. There is a great step by step guide here. http://www.sparkys-answers.com/2011/03/2003-ford-expedition-no-run-no-fuel.html I was recently having problems with my wife's 2004 expedition intermittently starting(would crank and turn over but would not stay running) and died once when driving. I would go to restart about an hour later and truck would start fine. Rinse and Repeat. I had the truck towed twice to a mechanic who admitted that intermittent problems are the worst but did not think it was the fuel pump. So I did some research on the internet and found Sparky's post about relay which made sense in our case. I took board apart and bought replacement part from digikey for about 4 dollars and being a relative novice found a local cell phone repair shop that de-soldered old relay(middle of the five relays is fuel pump relay) and soldered in new one for 30 dollars and avoided buying a whole new fuse box assembly. Hope this helps someone as sparky's post helped me.
