ALL PERFECT

Jan 2023 - Zuzana H

"Very reliable and well organized tour agent. We went on a 6 day tailor made safari to Amboseli and Masai Mara NP. All functioned very well, our guide/driver Patrick was great, attentive and very skilled in locating wild life. We enjoyed a lot and can 100% recommend Eyes on Africa."

We are Africa-based and family-run safari outfitters since 2001. We specialize in tailor-made Safari Holidays around Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar . We are big enough to rely on but small enough to care. With more than 20 years of experience, we can fulfill all your safari and holiday needs.

Eyes on Africa Safaris was founded by Nevenka Lepenik and Roman Biondic. Both were originally from Slovenia and moved to Kenya in the year 2001. They were warmly welcomed by a Maasai family from Masai Mara, whom they met on their previous travel. At that time, they fell in love with Kenya and its people. They lived in a Maasai homestead for about a year, got Maasai names and the second family. They walked many of the Mara, herding cattle, learning about wildlife and getting to know the Maasai culture. They got married by the Maasai tradition, lived a very simple life in Nairobi downtown for a year after that and worked hard on their new business, Eyes on Africa Safaris. When their daughter Anna was born, they decided to move to the Kenyan coast. The business was slowly growing, and they now had an opportunity to build a cultural camp, which was their dream from the beginning. They wanted to share the beauty of Maasai culture, provide jobs in the remote Loita Hills area and encourage young Maasai to preserve cultural heritage. Maji Moto Eco Camp was born, as well as their son Max sometime later. They still live on the Kenyan coast, near their newest baby - Monkey Suites, a luxury beach retreat.

FLY-IN SAFARIS

Imagine - flying in a small bush aircraft over the Serengeti or Great Rift Valley. They offer you an excellent view over the plains and you might also spot a few animals from the air. Fly-in safaris can really enhance your holiday. They are convenient and  comfortable means of travel between different destinations.

IMG_2858.JPG

How does Fly-in work:

We arrange the logistics of flights, accommodation and park fees. in the meantime, enjoy your bush flight and the views of Africa. Your driver will await you on the airstrip to proceed with the rest of your safari.

IMG_2859.JPG

Why choose Fly-in safari:

Flying into new national parks and destinations is an excellent advantage to see more of the beautiful country in a shorter time. The aircraft fly at a low altitude, where you can overlook the landscape. These flights are short, luxurious and comfortable.

ACCOMMODATION

One itinerary but different ACCOMMODATION options . You can select between Comfort , Up-grade & In-style accommodation classes during your safari holiday.

10 Day Kenya And Tanzania Safari Tour Exploring 6 Iconic Parks!

Starting from/returning to nairobi area hotels, airport, or location of your choice..

Map of circular route through Kenya and Tanzania taken for a 10 day safari tour with Africa Kenya Safaris

  • Lake Nakuru Park - Kenya
  • Masai Mara - Kenya
  • Serengeti National Park - Tanzania
  • Ngorongoro Crater - Tanzania
  • Tarangire Park - Tanzania
  • Amboseli National Park - Kenya

Option to Begin Tour at Amboseli and Finish in Arusha

We’ll pick you up in style – your own private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep.

Ten full days discovering the best of Kenya and Tanzania – three parks in each!  You’ll visit the great Serengeti and the Masai Mara , two massive parks that face each other at their international borders. And there, you’ll witness the herding of wildebeests and zebra crossing from one park and country to the other.

Both Kenya and Tanzania amaze safari-goers with their one-of-a-kind parks. Witness the stunning herds of great elephants parading at Amboseli Park before the snow-capped splendor of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

At Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater , you’ll descend into the world’s largest intact volcanic crater absolutely teeming with wildlife. Here you’ll discover prides of lions, plus rhino, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and cheetah.

This ten-day safari tour has been designed to balance your time between the natural wonders and wildlife of these two East African countries. Not many can say they’ve been to the Serengeti and the Masai Mara. But soon you will!

What’s Cool About These Parks?

Starting in Nairobi you’ll pass the Rift Valley arriving at charming Lake Nakuru National Park , with its beautiful acacia forests, waterfalls, and the lovely lake itself. Look for both Black and White rhinos here and possibly lion and leopard.

Then we’re off to the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve, home to dense concentrations of big cats, elephants, buffalo, giraffe, and dozens more species. This is the spot where you can see the Great Migration of wildebeests, zebra, and gazelle pour into the park on their annual trek.

Those thousands of herding grazers are coming across the Tanzanian border from Serengeti National Park, our next stop. The immense treeless savannahs here hold more than 3,000 lions. We’ll be tracking for them along with leopard, rhino, buffalo, elephant, eland, impala, and warthog.

We next adventure to one of the most unique spots on the planet, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera – Ngorongoro Crater . Descending into this blue/green world we’ll be tracking the big cats and all of Africa’s “Big Five”. Then we continue to the unusual Tarangire National Park , the site of bizarre baobab trees, huge termite mounds, and lots of elephants.

Speaking of the great tuskers, we’ll now cross back into Kenya, arriving at Amboseli National Park , known for its guaranteed sightings of great elephant families. You’ll see them marching before the imposing backdrop of snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro . An amazing finale to your ten-day, six-park, two-country excursion safari!

Nairobi – Lake Nakuru National Park

3 hour drive.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

7:30 am – Is your safari gear packed and ready to go? Get ready for 10 full days of wildlife action! Your Africa Kenya Safaris driver/guide will come by in a private 4 x 4 Land cruiser Jeep.

Hop in and we’re off through the Great Rift Valley, with views of its dramatic escarpment. We’ll arrive at Lake Nakuru Park in the late morning and take in the lake and its surrounding acacia forests.

The park is a delightful blend of water birds (sometimes flamingoes!) and also rhinos at a special sanctuary here. But also look for lions, zebra, giraffe, warthog, and many other species.

Come evening, we’ll retire to our safari lodge or tented camp to relax, enjoy dinner and reflect on our journey’s first day.

A couple of rhino walk across grass and graze with Lake Nakuru visible in the distance with hundreds of flamingo feeding there

Lake Nakuru National Park – Masai Mara

6 - 7 hour drive.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We’re on safari time so let’s be up early for a game drive around the park to watch the animals and the birdlife emerge into the soft light of the new day.

We’ll breakfast and proceed to the Masai Mara, making rest and scenic stops along our way.

Arriving at the great Mara, you can check in at your new accommodation to freshen up… or just head out on your first of many game drives on the park’s pretty rolling hills.

Adorning the landscape, you can’t miss Africa’s special acacia trees, adding still more texture to this amazing park. You won’t have to look far or long before spotting some of the park’s voluminous wildlife. Over 95 species of mammals populate these Mara lands.

Toward late afternoon, you might be treated to one of the park’s glorious sunsets and you’ll know you have arrived at a very special place. We’ll head back to our Mara accommodation for a relaxing evening.

Full Day at the Masai Mara

We’ll head out early on this day of unlimited game drives. The Masai Mara is known for its many prides of lions, plus cheetah, buffalo, antelope, hyena and so much more.

To maximize our time on the savannah we’ll take along a picnic lunch and perhaps enjoy it down at the Mara River, the site of the crossing of wildebeests and zebra, flowing in from neighboring Serengeti. This is a dramatic spot where predators meet grazers, so we’ll look for crocodiles down in the river as well as all sorts of big cats.

Adding new dimensions to your safari, take advantage of two optional activities: A visit to a nearby Maasai village will broaden your cultural horizons as you meet these indigenous people and learn about their lifestyle.

For a special one-of-a-kind treat, sign up for the optional hot air balloon safari over the park. You’ll float up at dawn as the park comes alive with all its wonders lighting up beneath you in the new day. An unforgettable safari moment!

We’ll spend the evening at our Mara accommodation, enjoying a delicious meal while swapping stories of the day.

Masai Mara – Serengeti Game Reserve

6 hour drive.

Today our safari goes international, crossing the border into Tanzania at the town of Isebania.

Part of the same ecosystem as the Masai Mara, the Serengeti features a different look, its vast plains being treeless. But it offers as rich an array of wildlife, perhaps even more lions.

We’ll arrive in time for an afternoon game drive to better understand the look, feel, and “vibe” of the Serengeti. This is where the millions of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle, calve before heading on to the Masai Mara.

We’ll head to our Serengeti lodge or tented camp for relaxation and dinner.

A horseback safari tour through a plain with long grass and zebra in Serengeti National Park

Full Day Serengeti Game Reserve

This will be a great day of exploration as we travel over the immense tract of the Serengeti, spotting for lion, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, eland, klipspringer, gazelle, warthog, and even hippo!

As always, you set the pace of your safari – opt for morning, afternoon, or full-day game viewing. The choice is yours.

Depending on the season (January/February), you may see great numbers of wildebeests and zebras calving. In the following months, the young will be raised in time for the annual Great Migration , across to the Masai Mara, from July to October.

This evening, we’ll relax and swap stories at our Serengeti accommodation.

Serengeti Game Reserve – Ngorongoro Crater

3 – 4 hour drive.

An exciting day awaits! We’ll be up early to enjoy another game drive through the Serengeti, as we exit the reserve and head to the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world.

Hold on, as our 4 x 4 takes us down the steep crater walls, into this magical expanse of green landscapes holding every sort of wildlife, from lions to pink flamingoes.

We’ll enjoy lunch, perhaps watching hippos at one of the park’s lakes as we keep an eye out for rhino, buffalo, elephant, and of course, the big cats.

Toward late afternoon, we’ll head back up to the edge of the caldera in time to catch one of Africa’s signature attractions – a magnificent sunset lighting up the crater’s rim.

And then we’re off to our Ngorongoro safari lodge or tented camp to settle in for dinner and rest.

Incredible view from safari accommodation over the swimming pool and into a large crater in a safari park

Ngorongoro Crater -Tarangire Park

Remember last night’s spectacular sunset? Let’s get up in time to catch an equally awesome sunrise at the crater’s rim!

And now we’re off to Tarangire National Park , a small but quite beautiful reserve. We’ll take an afternoon game drive looking for the park’s signature massive elephant herds. Tarangire is also known for its wildlife migration where over 250,000 animals enter the park.

We’ll spend the evening at our Tarangire accommodation.

A big cat wondering through dry grassland at Tarangire National Park

Tarangire Park – Amboseli Park

5 -6 hour drive.

As always on safari, we’ll be up with the birds to enjoy another game drive through the park.

After breakfast, we’ll head out to our final park, Amboseli, crossing back into Kenya at the border town of Namanga.

Amboseli is Kenya’s second most popular park, framed by the snow-capped majesty of Mt. Kilimanjaro and home to unlimited herds of great elephants. Their numbers are so constant you are guaranteed to see them parading to and fro.

Come late afternoon, the typical cloud covering obscuring Kilimanjaro’s summit may dissipate, revealing the mountain’s breathtaking peak.

We will spend our 8 th Safari evening at our Amboseli lodge or tented camp.

Elephants kneeling in grass at Amboseli National Park

Full Day at Amboseli Park

The park is especially attractive in the early morning so let’s take advantage of the day and head out for our first game drive.

Of course, we’ll be looking for elephants but the park may also present us with sightings of lions, cheetah, buffalo, wildebeest, gazelle, monkeys, and many rare birds.

We’ll stop at Observation Hill, where we can take in the many varieties of landscapes and wildlife in all directions.

If we’re lucky we’ll catch another glimpse of Kilimajaro’s snowy peak toward the evening.

And here on our last safari night we’ll relax and dine at our Amboseli accommodation.

A herd of elephants

Amboseli Park – Nairobi

4 hour drive.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

By now as an experienced safari-goer, you know the drill: We’ll be up early for a pre-breakfast game drive looking for elephants, lions, gazelle, antelope, and more.

We’ll stock up on breakfast before taking our final game drive through the park and head off to Nairobi.

En route, we’ll make stops for lunch and take in the scenic vistas.

Ten days – six parks… and how much wildlife and landscapes have we seen? Enough for many memories and lots of stories to be told and retold. We hope you enjoyed your two-country safari as much as we enjoyed showing you all the wonders of East Africa. From the entire team at Africa Kenya Safaris , a big Asante! for your time and commitment to see our natural world.

Safari in Africa is not only a tour: it’s a spiritual experience.

Enjoy kenya and tanzania safari tours: your african holidays..

The african word Safari  in Kiswahili language means “travel” or tour: Not only physical tour, but also a spiritual. For Mamasavana this is not a simply african tour towards the incontaminated nature, but a tour inside yourself, where the contact with the land of the great Mama Africa takes you back to your origins.

Mamasavana wants to lead by hand whoever wants to embark on this experience in savanna , the real heart of Africa, with Kenya or Tanzania safari .

We would like to narrate you more, but we know very well that certain emotions can not narrated, but only by living. Neither do we want to make you depart right away: the desire is probably already inside you.

After several years of free consultation to friends and relatives, which turned into experience and at last into a profession, today Mamasavana is an unique agency on its own, in service of nature lovers and those with a passion for the African savanna .

Tired of pre-packed products that rarely satisfy clients,  Mamasavana  offers unique and special tailor-made itinerary programs for groups and singles, working hand in hand with you to make your  safari in Africa an unique experience as you have always dreamed. In these past ten years, between Africa and Europe, our vast experience favour us in providing you with all the solutions and resolving any need you may have.  Our philosophy; Simplicity cared in detail.

The Wildebeest Migrate every year between  Serengeti in Tanzania  and  Masai Mara in Kenya . For most of the year, they graze in the southern-eastern part of the ecosystem. That coincides with the calving migration season. The wildebeest colonizes the southern Serengeti from November to May. Once depleted of the pastures, they trek northern towards the Northern Serengeti in Tanzania and the Masai Mara in Kenya. Join us on a Wildebeest Migration safari as we follow the herds.

Unleash the explorer within and embark on a journey that echoes with the rhythmic heartbeat of the wild! If you’re craving the ultimate safari adventure, look no further. We’ve meticulously curated the ultimate guide to unveil the 10 Best African Countries for Safari, designed especially for intrepid travelers yearning to witness nature’s grandeur up close.

Investigate the 10 Best African Countries for Safari below:

african safari holiday tours kenya and tanzania

#1 Botswana

Recommended Tours:

Thus, poachers are seen as enemies of the people. As a result, Botswana has come into view as Africa's most sought-after ecotourism destination. Starting from the Chobe National Park to the Moremi Nature Reserve, you'll be able to witness numerous gems all around the country.

Back in 2014, Botswana widely banned the hunting of wild animals and implemented strict laws which are still in practice. The country resumes its zero-tolerance for poaching and their very own environmental minister, Tshekedi Khama, has even launched a shoot-to-kill policy for poachers.

Botswana, with its wildlife conservation and natural parks, is a haven for nature lovers. It is currently in the top 5, as its approach to the protection and conservation of wildlife is worth the praise. Most of the land in Namibia is occupied by the Kalahari and Namib Deserts. Along with that, the country also has 12 national parks and many other areas which are protected. So, if you go there for a safari, you'll have many rich areas to see and explore.

When it comes to countries with the least amount of population, Namibia is one of them. Which proves to be a good thing for nature. This is because most of the land in Namibia is still unspoiled by human filth or any sort of development, giving nature a chance to breathe.

In the country's Volcanoes National Park, you'll find 10 habituated gorilla families. Groups of 8 trekkers can visit them for one hour per day. But that's enough to get the best African safari experience. And as a nature lover, you'll enjoy the experience to the max.

If you've been around for some time, you'll be familiar with Rwanda's mountain gorillas. They were famously broadcasted and their fight for survival was shown on  National Geographic . This was all thanks to the late  Dian Fossey  back in the 1970s who advocated for the rights of these mountain gorillas throughout her life.

Considering the tragic history surrounding the mass genocide of the people of Rwanda back in 1994, it's truly a blessing what the country has achieved in the past 25 years. There have been countless investments in infrastructure. This has resulted in the country being a very fast-growing destination for ecotourism.

#6 South Africa

But given all the advantages, it's safe to conclude that South Africa also suffers from over-tourism. I mean, if you have so many great attractions, people will flock towards it. Chances are that you'll find yourself in the middle of dozens of unruly visitors who are not too keen on obeying the rules. This occurs mostly during the peak seasons.

Annually, the country has one million visitors. Its biggest attraction is the Kruger National Park with its enrichment in biodiversity. Visitors there also have the liberty to self-drive, thus, getting a first-person private but superb experience.

For some time now, South Africa has been climbing the charts to become one of the most popular destinations for African safaris. Given its location, South Africa is a very convenient and cheap destination for people from the United States. Besides that, the country also boasts a well-developed infrastructure which makes it perfect for luxury travelers as well.

#7 Tanzania

One of the most popular locations would be the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The country is also a haven for 1100 different bird species. It's no wonder that Tanzania gets this much rep. Especially when the country boasts so many wonders.

We talked about Kenya being the top destination for Safari. Now Tanzania here takes second place in being the continent's most popular safari destination. And why shouldn't it? The country has 16 national parks and an extraordinary amount of wealth and wildlife wonders for the people to witness.

Some of its natural attractions include housing the highest mountain range in Africa. It also has the world's largest free-standing volcano and the second-largest freshwater lake. With its 30 national parks and other wildlife reserves, Uganda boasts many more sanctuaries which are worth the visit. Especially if you're a lover of nature and wildlife.

Often called "The Pearl of Africa", Uganda is certainly a great pick for an African safari. Its reputation as being one of the best ecotourism destinations comes from the country's natural attractions and wildlife.

Neighbouring Tanzania, where at least 155 people have been killed in flooding and landslides, is also expected to feel the force of Hidaya.

"The presence of Hidaya Cyclone... is expected to dominate and affect the weather patterns in the country including heavy rain and strong winds in some Regions near Indian Ocean," Tanzania Red Cross Society said on X, formerly Twitter.

Kenya's capital Nairobi is among the areas expected to suffer heavy rains over the next two days, the Kenya Meteorological Department said on X.

The heavier than usual rains have also cost at least 29 lives in Burundi, with 175 people injured, and tens of thousands displaced since September last year, the United Nations said.

- Stranded tourists -

Earlier this week Ruto announced he was deploying Kenya's military to evacuate everyone living in flood-prone areas.

In a bulletin released Thursday evening, the interior ministry ordered anyone living close to major rivers or near 178 "filled up or near filled up dams or water reservoirs" to vacate the area within 24 hours, warning that they would otherwise face "mandatory evacuation for their safety."

The devastation has also affected Kenya's tourism sector -- a key economic driver -- with some 100 tourists marooned in the famed Maasai Mara wildlife reserve on Wednesday after a river overflowed, flooding lodges and safari camps.

Rescuers later managed to evacuate 90 people by ground and air, the interior ministry said.

The area is currently inaccessible with bridges washed away, Narok West sub-county administrator Stephen Nakola told AFP, adding that about 50 camps in the reserve have been affected, putting more than 500 locals temporarily out of work.

There are no fatalities but communities living around the area have been forced to move away.

"Accessing the Mara is now a nightmare and the people stuck there are really worried, they don't have an exit route," Nakola said, adding that waterborne diseases were likely to emerge.

"I am worried that the situation could get worse because the rains are still on."

In the deadliest single incident in Kenya, dozens of villagers were killed when a dam burst on Monday near Mai Mahiu in the Rift Valley, about 60 kilometres (40 miles) north of Nairobi.

The interior ministry said 52 bodies had been recovered and 51 people were still missing after the dam disaster.

- Travel warnings -

Opposition politicians and lobby groups have accused Ruto's government of being unprepared and slow to respond to the crisis despite weather warnings.

"Kenya's government has a human rights obligation to prevent foreseeable harm from climate change and extreme weather events and to protect people when a disaster strikes," Human Rights Watch said Thursday.

The United States and Britain have issued travel warnings for Kenya, urging their nationals to be cautious amid the extreme weather.

The devastation has sparked an outpouring of condolences and pledges of solidarity from all over the world, including from Pope Francis and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

The rains have been amplified by the El Nino weather pattern -- a naturally occurring climate phenomenon typically associated with increased heat worldwide, leading to drought in some parts of the world and heavy downpours elsewhere.

Kenya president postpones reopening of schools as flood-related deaths pass 200

Kenyan President William Ruto has postponed next week’s planned reopening of schools until further notice, as heavy rains and floods that have killed more than 200 people continue. The president in his state of the nation address on Friday said that “meteorological reports paint a dire picture,” citing the possibility of Cyclone Hidaya hitting coastal Kenya in coming days. Kenya and other parts of East Africa have been overwhelmed by flooding, with more than 150,000 displaced people living in camps across the country.

Human Rights Watch accuses Kenyan government of inadequate response to flooding

Human Rights Watch accused Kenyan authorities on Thursday of not responding adequately to ongoing floods that have killed more than 170 people since the start of the rainy season. The New York-based rights group said the government “has a human rights obligation to prevent foreseeable harm from climate change and extreme weather events and to protect people when a disaster strikes.” Kenya's Meteorology Department sent an early warning before the rainy season started, but President William Ruto only formed a response committee on April 24.

Kenya's weather outlook 'dire' as cyclone nears, president says

Torrential rains that caused widespread flooding and landslides across Kenya in recent weeks, killing at least 210 people, are forecast to worsen over the rest of this month, President William Ruto said on Friday. The floods have wreaked havoc, destroying homes, roads, bridges and other infrastructure across Kenya, East Africa's largest economy. The death toll exceeds that from floods triggered by the El Nino weather phenomenon late last year.
