A Never-Before-Seen Nightlife Experience Among Many New Highlights for Celebrity Cruises’ Newest Ship Debuting this November

MIAMI (October 24, 2023) - Celebrity Cruises ® today revealed a stunning lineup of entertainment for its highly anticipated new ship Celebrity Ascent ℠ , providing something for everyone with an approach that is equal parts tradition, evolution, and revolution. The new entertainment offerings include a transformative nightlife experience on the Resort Deck, six new live productions, interactive gaming experiences, spectacular live performances in venues throughout the ship and more.

As with its award-winning sister ship Celebrity Beyond ℠ , named the number one Best Cruise Ship for Entertainment in 2023 by USA Today’s 10Best, Celebrity Cruises assembled creative visionaries who have collaborated on major productions from Las Vegas to London’s West End, and worked for some of the world’s biggest artists, to create a truly unique collection of performances, activities and experiences on Celebrity Ascent.

New Signature Resort Deck Party

New for Celebrity Ascent is a high-octane nightlife experience where the ship’s Resort Deck transforms into a radiant center stage with high-energy live performances, a prism light show, and DJ creating a pulsating dance floor to an illuminating playlist.  Called Ascent After Dark: Shine the Night , guests are invited to bring out their best metallic attire to enjoy this open-air celebration under the moon and stars.  

New Theater Shows that Ascend Expectations 

The Theatre on Celebrity Ascent will be seen and utilized like never before, with incredible new technological effects blurring the line between digital and reality onstage. Three all-new mesmerizing production shows will feature state-of-the-art technology, including kinetic lighting, lasers and the use of IMAG to display real-time live performances on a larger-than-life LED screen, as well as breathtaking performances by world-class singers, dancers and specialty artists. The new shows include:  

• Awaken - a contemporary and technological spectacle taking guests on an eye-opening journey through a showcase of surreal dreams and awakening their senses to explore a world where anything is possible. 
• Residency - a high energy concert production inspired by iconic Las Vegas residencies, celebrating timeless artists from Elvis to Lady Gaga, Cher, U2, and Bruno Mars, featuring authentic footage paying homage to Las Vegas and the iconic restored signs from the Neon Museum, filmed exclusively for the show. 
• Bridges - a feel-good, uplifting celebration of human connection, set against the backdrop of some of the world's most iconic bridges from London to Venice, New York, San Francisco, and Sydney, and featuring an automated bridge onstage as the centerpiece that transports audiences to breathtaking locations. 

Immersive Live Shows and Performances

The entertainment continues well beyond the main theater stage, with immersive and intimate performances throughout the ship. 

At Eden, Ascent’ s three-story architectural masterpiece at the back of the ship, guests will enjoy inspiring performances featuring mind-blowing acrobatics, incredible vocals and world-class choreography: 

• Allure, takes audiences on a journey following the ship’s resident visual artist searching to find inspiration from the beauty in the world around and featuring acrobatics and feel good music.
• Driving beats from the 70s to modern day, Shimmerbox entices guests to dance, groove or simply soak in the lavish glistening spectacle all around them; 
• Dreams, invites guests to enjoy a wondrously intriguing night in a fantastical world of dazzling live performances, interactive games and unforgettable characters. 

And, in The Club, Ascent introduces a new immersive show, Smoke & Ivories , taking audiences back in time to an old Hollywood club with a modern twist. The electrifying set comes to life through the use of projection technology, incredible dance performances, world-class tapping and sultry vocal performances. 

Brand New Entertainment Experiences 

The latest gaming and interactive activities can be found on Celebrity Ascent, with a long list of complimentary new experiences available on every sailing, including:

• Game On: Augmented Multiplayer Experience - Creating an 80s-inspired retro experience, a games surface is projected on the floor in The Club inviting players to compete in interactive competitions using their own body as a controller;
• Guilty Pleasures party is the ultimate singalong extravaganza, where guests can belt out a road trip playlist like nobody’s listening;    
• A New Tabletop Escape-Style Game , Sands of Time , where guests work in teams to unlock the mystery through a series of puzzles and clues in this must-play challenge; 
• And, Sketch Art Classes for everyone from beginners to advanced sketchers with step-by-step lessons from Celebrity’s resident visual artist. 

Plenty of Live Music Onboard

In addition to Edge Series favorite Jazz at The Club, where world-class orchestra musicians perform the very best of jazz music up close and personal , Celebrity Ascent’s musicians exhibit their incredible talent and showmanship through two brand new live concert-style celebrations:

• Funkified , a journey through the evolution of funk, from classic hits to modern funk-inspired tunes, and from its roots in the 60s to its influence on modern pop.
• And Discoteque , bringing the very best of the Disco Era to life in a high-energy party under the Mirrorball in The Club, with tunes from Earth, Wind & Fire, Donna Summer, Bee Gees and more. 

Adding to Celebrity Ascent’s award-winning music nights, a piano bar entertainer will perform on various nights in bars and lounges throughout the ship, adding to the ship’s lively environment.

Edge Series Favorites Return

Celebrity Ascent also brings back popular signature Edge Series onboard programming including:

Celebrity Cruises unveils entertainment lineup for upcoming vessel, Celebrity Ascent

Celebrity Cruises has unveiled the entertainment lineup for their upcoming vessel, Celebrity Ascent , the 4th ship in the Edge class. The onboard entertainment will include three new theatre shows: "Awaken," a performance centered around dreams; "Residency," a production inspired by iconic Las Vegas residencies featuring artists like Elvis, Lady Gaga, and Bruno Mars; and "Bridges," a show exploring human connections against the backdrop of some of the world's most famous bridges.

During "Ascent After Dark: Shine the Night," passengers are encouraged to wear metallic clothing as they enjoy a nightlife experience on the ship's Resort Deck, where a prism light show and DJ set will take center stage.

In the innovative venue known as Eden, acrobats, singers, and dancers will put on three interactive shows that include games and music. In The Club, passengers can listen to live jazz music or immerse themselves in a performance with an old Hollywood theme titled "Smoke & Ivories."

Scheduled to enter service in December, the ship will also offer various gaming and interactive activities, such as the 80s-inspired competition "Game On: Augmented Multiplayer Experience," a singalong party called "Guilty Pleasures," and sketch art classes for those looking to explore their creative side.

Entertainment Detailed For Upcoming Celebrity Beyond Cruise Ship

Celebrity Cruises has announced new live shows and interactive experience that will be found on its ship coming this April,  Celebrity Beyond.

The cruise line has assembled creative minds who have collaborated on major productions from Las Vegas and the West End to the Olympics, and for some of the world’s biggest brands and artists.

“ It has been such an honor to collaborate with some of the best live show creative minds to develop world-class performances and experiences at every turn throughout the ship,” said Celebrity’s Vice President of Entertainment, Lisa Lehr. “ Beyond delivers an onboard entertainment experience that our guests will be talking about long after they have returned home.”

Theater Stage Productions

The Theatre on  Celebrity Beyond  will be the largest in the fleet, and host three all-new production shows.

‘Elements’ is a journey through the five elements: air, water, earth, fire, and ether. The show utilizes state-of-the-art technology, mesmerizing visuals, and acrobatic performances.

Air sculptures created by Brooklyn-based artist Daniel Wurtzel are a highlight of the show, as air is blown into large sheets of flowing fabric, creating dancing art, along with a first-ever custom air fountain blow-out that floats over the audience.

With choreography by Got to Dance winner Lukas McFarlane and co-direction by Marck Stevens , renowned director from Vegas to Europe, and Liam Lunniss, visionary behind some of today’s top musical artists’ live concerts and productions, travelers won’t want to blink for fear of missing some of the ever-changing beauty in front of them.

‘Arte’ immerses audiences in iconic works of art in a ground-breaking masterpiece that combines dance with high-flying acrobatics and mind-bending visual effects.

The modern-day sculptural work of Brazilian artist Rubem Robierb is also featured, with a show segment based on his powerful “Peace Makers” sculpture displayed on the ship.

With choreography by London’s West End creative leader Kendra Horburgh (& Juliet), this moving masterpiece will forever change how audience-goers experience art.

‘Stage Door’ is like having an exclusive backstage pass into the heart of the biggest Broadway and West End musicals. The performances are accompanied by a full symphony orchestra that was recorded in the London Palladium, the UK’s most iconic theater.

The show is brought to life through cutting-edge technology by renowned director/choreographer of West End’s Thriller Live!, Gary Lloyd.

In  Celebrity Beyond ‘s theater, wrapping around the stage is a 110-foot curved 4k LED screen, complete with five moving panels that open and move for immersive visual experiences and dramatic talent entrances and exits.

Floor projection technology integrates with the content on the screen, creating a seamless visual effects experience.

The hottest night spot on the ship will introduce a new concept show, along with two all-new live music nights:

The Jazz Joint at The Club

Produced by the team behind the entertainment at The Mayfair Supper Club at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, this speakeasy show concept features swinging jazz tunes with powerhouse vocalists, dancers, specialty acts, and some laughs along the way.

Music Nights

The club will also feature two new music experiences, the first of which is ‘Rocked.’ This event will feature vocalists and orchestra members from The Theatre to bring the most iconic concert moments of all time to the stage in a fast-paced, interactive concert.

‘Bring the Brass’ is a live tribute to the iconic bands of brass, spanning the decades from the great horn bands of the past to the modern musicians of today they have influenced, bringing energy, nostalgia, skill, and talent to the stage.

At the aft of the ship, this grand three-story space with floor-to-ceiling windows will offer different experience that change from day to night.

Activities and entertainment in the morning, afternoon, and evening include things like meditation, and a “Create and Pour” art and wine tasting class.

At night, Wonder at Eden will include six curated experience including three new cast shows.

Grand Plaza

This gathering place located at the heart of the ship features a spectacular chandelier as its focal point, which comes alive at night with eight all-new light shows choreographed to music. One of the shows will be enhanced with performances by the stage show performers from The Theatre.

Rooftop Garden

The Rooftop Garden on the Resort Deck will provide the perfect spot for morning Tai Chi, outdoor movies, and dancing under the stars.

Camp at Sea

The kids’ club space for kids three to 12 will feature a new partnership with “Adventures in Cardboard.”

Junior cruisers will enjoy activities blending competitive play and cooperative storytelling through their own cardboard works of art and imagination, a vlogging class utilizing Go Pros, and a variety of STEM activities involving coding, the ocean, and world geography.

The teen club will be for passengers ages 13-17, featuring silent disco parties, digital trivia, game night challenges, and more.

Celebrity Beyond Itineraries

Celebrity Beyond  will depart on her maiden voyage on April 27, 2022 from Southampton, England on a 10-night western Europe cruise visiting Bordeaux, France; Lisbon, Portugal; and Seville, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, and Barcelona, Spain.

The ship will then offer a variety of Mediterranean voyages, including nine-night Italian Riviera and France itineraries and 10-night Greek Isles cruises through early October.

After that,  Beyond  will head across the Atlantic to the Caribbean.

Day time activities on celebrity edge.

Onboard Celebrity Edge, the vibe during the day is relaxing and carefree. The Resort Deck is home to a chic, beach club-inspired pool area with a DJ and/or live music playing most of the day along with plenty of loungers to catch some rays. 

If you are looking to escape the pool deck, the Rooftop Garden is a nice, outdoor alternative. Here, cruisers can enjoy the outdoors on comfy patio furniture, along with some classic garden games. Some of our favorites included the giant Jenga and Connect Four.

Inside the ship, the Club offers a variety of daytime activities. In the morning (typically from 9 am until noon) and some afternoons, it is open play with board games and Xbox games.

Offered during the early afternoon, one of our favorite activities was the Tabletop Maze – Free Spirits. This complimentary activity was offered on both sea days at 1 pm. This take on an escape room was a family friendly brain teaser and a fun way to pass some time. The Club also offered other games during the day including archery and a laser maze.

In Eden, you can find a series of different tabletop, wooden puzzles. These puzzles are usually available from around 9 am to 5 pm. These games are highly addictive, so you could easily spend hours challenging your wits.

Eden is also home to trivia during the day. With a variety of themed and general trivia occurring on both sea days and port days, you are sure to find a session that would challenge even the most knowledgeable cruisers. 

Throughout the ship, you will also find different musical acts playing at various times throughout the day in venues like Eden, the Resort Deck, Grand Plaza, Rooftop Garden, and the Club.

Celebrity Edge Main Theater Entertainment

The most ambitious enhancement to Celebrity Edge was the redesigned theater, boasting a circular stage and high-definition screens as a backdrop. To make use of this technologically advanced setup, Celebrity Cruises produced three new shows for the ship as well as “resident headliner” acts. 

For each show, there are always two showtimes. On our cruise, the early show was 7:15 pm and the late show was 9:15 pm. 

There were also two comedians on the ship, similar to a traditional headliner act in the theater. These two performances occurred on Night 1 and Night 6 of our cruise. The comedians also each had a “late night” show following one of the main production shows (on Nights 3 and 7). 

The first new show was Kaleidoscope and was performed on Night 2. Honestly, this show felt like your typical cruise review show. While the performers were excellent, and the music more modern, it was very similar to most main theater productions.

On Night 4, the second, and the oddest, of the new shows occurred. The Jewelry Box is a sci-fi fantasy tale about four tribes trying to save a dying planet. We felt that the show was too far fetched, relying heavily on the digital screens and overlooking the casts’ talents. Since our sailing, it appears this show has been replaced with a new show, Colors of Life.

On Night 7, the third new show, A Hot Summer Night’s Dream, took place. This take on the classic Shakespearean tale was our favorite production show of the cruise. It had the right mix of music, dance, digital enhancements, and acrobatics. The rest of the crowd seemed to agree with our opinion, as the show was the best received.

Along with the new signature productions, Celebrity Edge also has “resident” headliners. These shows are essentially pop concerts that you would expect to find in a Las Vegas venue. On Night 3 was The Purpose with singer Ashlie-Amber Smith, a finalist from America’s Got Talent. She had an amazing voice, but the show did not seem to resonate well with some cruisers. I enjoyed the show more than the Princess did.

On Night 5 was the second act, Hype, starring Marcus Terell. He put on a non-stop, high energy show with popular hits from artists like Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, and other pop stars. We loved this show and were glad to see an updated musical selection.

Celebrity Edge Game Shows and Events

Gamers will be surprised to find no Bingo onboard the ship. Instead, there were several games of the popular Deal or No Deal. On our cruise, these occurred on Night 1 at 8:15 pm, Day 4 at 4:00 pm, and Day 7 at 4:00 pm. While we do enjoy this game, we did not play this cruise. 

There were also several different game shows during the cruise that tended to take place in The Club around 8 pm. All of these shows included audience participation, and while we didn’t play, they were fun to watch! During our cruise, Celebrity Edge had the following game shows: True or False (Night 2), Family Feud (Night 3), Caption This (Night 5), Minute to Win It (Night 6), and Yes or No (Night 7). 

Another new addition to the ship was the interactive trivia game Timeplay Live! We got to test out this game during some pre-show demos in the theater. This is a for-fee activity, and you need a tablet or smartphone to play. On our cruise, these games were held on Night 1 and Night 4. 

The Club also held a talk show called Live at the Club which was hosted by the Cruise Director and occurred on Night 4. This event reminded us of the Tonight Show with two guest interviews and various comedic banter. 

Of course, there are also your typical port talks and various sales, seminars, and up-charge tastings.

Nightlife on Celebrity Edge

The other main entertainment venue was Eden. On Nights 2, 4, 5, and 6, Eden came alive with Revelations. This interactive, performance art spectacle was not exactly what we were expecting, and we were not alone. The 2+ hour production (which has been shortened since our sailing) was a series of different performers including dancers, strength acts, singers, and improv. The show does not really have a plot; instead, you enter a world with these primitive Edenists and never know quite what to expect.

The problem is that the show feeds off audience participation, and many cruisers did not want to get involved in this “strange” performance. Count us in on that. We had high hopes for this new addition, but Eden fell short of our expectations.  

There are also several musical acts that rotate through the venues on Celebrity Edge. On our cruise, Reckless Charms was a Tennessee-based country music band that was showcased in several venues.

Fringe Collective was a combination of piano and saxophone that provided ideal background music. There was also the acoustic performances of Michael Redden, a musician we enjoyed in the Ensemble Lounge during our Celebrity Eclipse cruise. 

One band that had a pretty predictable show schedule was Impulse. This modern pop/rock band could be found most nights in the Club. This band was definitely a departure from the house bands on most ships. Impulse usually performed in the evenings until the Club turned into a dance party around 11 pm.

Each night, a classic movie is also shown on the large screen in the Rooftop Garden. These movies ranged from Casablanca to Rocky. The movies usually started around 10 pm.

Nighttime Parties on Celebrity Edge

We were a bit disappointed that some of the parties that were advertised pre-cruise did not occur on our voyage. Among these was the Andromeda party. Still, there were a few themed parties that did occur. On Night 6, there was Sinful at Eden. On Nights 2 and 7, the Club hosted the Silent Disco party at 10 pm. This event has become popular on many cruise lines.

For those travelers who have never attended a Silent Disco, the venue has two (or more) DJs spinning different songs, and each person can choose what music they want to dance to during the evening by changing the frequency on their headphones. While you can hear the music through your headphones, a passerby can only hear party-goers singing out loud to a variety of songs. It can be quite funny to just watch.

On Nights 3 and 5, there were outdoor parties. The party on Night 3 occurred in the Rooftop Garden. We attended the Night 5 Nocturnal Party on the Resort Deck, which is like the ship’s “white party”. This party was somewhat under-attended compared to similar parties on other cruise lines.

There you have it, a recap of all the entertainment on Celebrity Edge. Celebrity Cruises is continuously working to modify and enhance these entertainment selections based on customer feedback, so some variations in programming might occur. The days/times are also subject to change based on the ship’s itinerary.

Of course, there were several other great things to do and see while on the ship as well. The only way to truly experience it all is with a cruise on this new and innovative vessel. So, what are you waiting for?

I don’t agree that there’s “way too many ads.” These are only distracting and bothersome if you allow them to be. Keep running ads to pay the bills and maybe make a few dollars for yourselves. No problem there.

Trying to find out what time the two theater shows are schedule on a European itinerary onboard the Edge ships is it still 715pm and 9:15pm

Comment following the show in “The Club”. It was a speak easy with dancing and acrobatic. Best yet started at 10:20 or 11pm

How far in advance, do I need to make reservations for any of the shows. Can my butler/concierge for my celebrity suite make them for me. Where can I find the shows for the 15-25 May 10 Nights Best of Italy and the Greek Islands?

I am an Elite customer of Celebrity. When I was first on Celebrity in the 90`s Celebrity was good for ballroom & Latin dancers.

Celebrity has moved gradually away from catering to those of us who enjoy ballroom/Latin dancing, this was confirmed to me by an Officer in 2000. On most of the Celebrity ships instead of using the Sky lounge where the dance floor can cater for all types of dancing due to its size Celebrity have groups playing in the Atrium, which is tiny for ballroom dancing but perfect for those who just like to bop from foot to foot.

Having looked at pictures of the Edge class I notice the Club has a bigger space to dance. Although I imagine as they have more passengers, it is likely that it will become rather congested, especially as it seems that rather that having a dance band pop/rock groups will be playing music.

So all us ballroom/Latin dancers are moving away from Celebrity towards other cruise lines. Personally, we are going to Princess (wheelhouse bar), Fred Olsen & Cunard. Its a pity as I have been with Celebrity for a long time. I think the food & drink are probably the best of most other cruise , except perhaps Regent or Oceania.
