Montgomery Glen Golf and Country Club

Montgomery Glen Golf & Country Club is a full-service golf facility that includes a championship golf course, driving range, practice putting green, and a friendly clubhouse.

Glens Grill is a fine dining facility that can comfortably accommodate 144 people. Our advice is to sit back, relax and let the attentive and professional staff take care of you while you are enjoying the panoramic view of the course from the elegantly appointed bar, patio, or dining room. You can choose to enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of the golf course from any of these three locations.

The course fairways here are level and play open, allowing plenty of room for shot-making. However, thanks to generous use of water and trees in its design, golfers cannot throw caution to the wind and spray their shots. Wetaskiwin’s pencross greens are all large and well maintained with excellent putting surfaces.

A creek running down the right side of the 12th hole makes this one of the course’s best. Designated Montgomery Glen’s signature hole, this 405-yard par four requires golfers to carry over water on both their tee and approach shots as they navigate a narrow chute defined by trees on route to the green.

As difficult as the 12th is it is not Wetaskiwin’s biggest challenge. That honour is reserved for the par four 3rd. At 388 yards this par four presents a difficult tee shot thanks to the presence of a large spruce tree in the centre of the fairway and a water hazard on the right. The elevated green also causes problems with most golfers having difficulty finding it with their approach shots.

How many players can I bring?  

Each of our bays accommodates 6 guests.  And if you have more than that, no problem! We have multiple bays available for renting. If you do plan to bring more than the traditional foursome, please let us know ahead of time and we will make every effort to accommodate you comfortably. 

Do I bring my own clubs?

We encourage you to! Don't have any clubs? No worries! We have demo clubs here. There is a $10 fee for each set and this covers the group for the duration of the reservation. 

What are your indoor golf rates?

Our current rates for the TrackMan bays are $40 per hour Monday-Thursday before 5pm, and $55 per hour all other times. Our PuttView rates are $20 / half hour or $35/ hour.  The fees are per bay, not per person. 

How long does a round of golf take?

Typically, one player can play a full 18 holes in one hour or less. For a foursome, expect 2-3 hrs, depending on skill level and group pace.

Can I bring my own alcohol? 

No, it's against North Carolina ABC law. We do have a full bar with specialty cocktails,10 local drafts + ciders & seltzers available on site for your enjoyment.

Can I bring my own food? 

We are partnered with Tobacco Road Sports Cafe (a local downtown Raleigh restaurant with delicious American fare) for all of our member and guest catering needs. View the menu HERE . We also cater for larger groups and events. Please inquire on our contact page! If you'd like to bring your own food, we are okay with that as well!

Indoor Golf: 5 Places to Play Around Raleigh

If you want to enjoy some beers while getting some swings in, if the weather isn't cooperating, or you just don't feel like heading to the course it's nice to have the option to play some indoor golf around the greater Raleigh area.  Below are a few of the best places to get some swings in.

1) Dogwood Country Club

Powered by TrackMan, Dogwood's indoor golf simulation technology puts over 60 championship courses from all across the world at your fingertips. Simulators can all be booked by the hour. They also the only place around with a PuttView augmented reality putting green. Work on green reading, pace, and putting under pressure.

2) GolfTEC Cary

GolfTEC is primarily known for golf lessons, but they also have the opportunity for golfers to get fit and play and practice indoors. If you are looking to improve your game and get in some swings during the off-season or when the weather is poor, you can check out GolfTEC, which has 2 different locations in the Raleigh area. GolfTEC provides you with access to advanced golf training technology including motion measurement and video analysis. GolfTEC also has a pretty neat tool called the Clubhouse which offers an online tool for accessing all your golf lessons, Coach notes and instruction, suggested drills as well as the ability to schedule future lessons and practice.

3) Drive Shack

Drive Shack offers a similar experience to what you might receive at Topgolf. It's technically not indoors, but under inclement weather all the hitting bays are heated and covered. Drive Shack is a great place to gather for a social game as well, with plenty of food and drinks available for all. 

4) Lonnie Poole Golf Course

It is warm in their player development suite! Starting January 1, you can rent a bay for $50/hour (two person max) for simulated play or practice time. They are also offering a limited-time simulation package of 12 hours for just $300! (A $600 value.) This offer is only available to the first 50 people to sign up, so act fast! 

5) Golftec Raleigh

For golfers northwest of Raleigh and southeast of Durham looking for golf lessons, golf instruction or a custom club fitting, GOLFTEC North Raleigh is the answer. Insperity Invitational: How to watch, storylines to follow and more

PGA TOUR Champions kicks off the month of May at the Insperity Invitational. The Tour makes a return to the Lone Star State for the second time in three weeks. The Woodlands Country Club outside Houston, Texas, will play host to the event for the 16th time.

Of his record 46 PGA TOUR Champions victories, four have come at the Insperity Invitational (2007, 2008, 2014 and 2018). Having never missed the event, Langer will be making his 16th start in the Insperity Invitational and second start of the season (T22, Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai).

In addition to Langer, six other World Golf Hall of Fame members will be teeing it up, including Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Padraig Harrington, Colin Montgomerie, Mark O’Meara and Vijay Singh.

Steven Alker, the 2022 and 2023 champion, returns in his bid for a third straight title. The New Zealand native, who was tied for the lead in 2023 after Round 1 and led by three after the second, closed with his third consecutive round in the 60s for a 15-under total and a four-shot victory over Steve Stricker. No one else came within seven shots.

Hannah Green again wins LPGA Tour's JM Eagle LA Championship

LOS ANGELES -- Hannah Green won the LPGA Tour's JM Eagle LA Championship for the second straight year Sunday, holing out twice from off the greens in a pivotal back-nine stretch at challenging Wilshire Country Club.

A year after making a 25-foot birdie on the final hole of regulation and winning on the second hole of a playoff, Green -- with help from Maja Stark -- took the late drama out of this one for her fifth LPGA Tour victory and second of the year.

"It wasn't as a eventful as the last couple days. I was nervous," Green said. "And I've never been able to win having a lead into the last hole like that, so it is nice to be able to get it done earlier in the round."

Green closed with a 5-under 66 to beat Stark by three strokes. The 27-year-old Australian, also the winner early last month in Singapore, finished at 12-under 272 on the tree-lined layout with poa annua greens that become bumpy late in the day.

"It's really kind to me," Green said about the course. "I felt like a couple times today almost got like a member bounce. I, obviously, really am fond of the golf club and joked that they didn't approve it with me that they were making alterations. I love it here."

Green began the key run with a chip-in birdie on the par-3 12th and made a 6-foot birdie putt on the par-5 13th. Then, after Stark bogeyed the par-4 16th two groups ahead, Green ran in a 25-footer for eagle from the fringe on 15 to open a 4-stroke lead, and made it 5 under in five holes with a birdie on 16.

"When I chipped in on 12 I kind of felt like I really snagged one there," Green said. "I really like the 13th hole and also played the 15th really well. When I made eagle on 15 that kind of sealed the deal. I did see Maja got it to 9 under so I know what I needed to do. Usually, I make it really tricky on myself and only win by a shot."

Stark finished with a 68, rebounding from the bogey on 16 to birdie the final two holes. The 24-year-old Swede also finished second last week outside Houston in the Chevron Championship, 2 strokes behind top-ranked Nelly Korda in the first major of the year.

"I'm really proud of the way I've played," Stark said. "I feel like I've hit a lot of good shots and I feel like my nerves kind of took over for a little while, but I was always able to get back to the normal -- my normal state of mind."

Hae Ran Ryu (69) was third at 6 under, followed by fellow South Korean players Jin Young Ko (67) and Jin Hee Im at 5 under.

Grace Kim, 4 strokes ahead entering weekend after opening rounds of 64 and 66 and tied with Green for the lead after a third-round 76, finished with a 77 to tie for 25th at 1 under. She failed to make a birdie in the final two days.

Korda withdrew from the Los Angeles event Monday, a day after her record-tying fifth straight victory .

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Hannah Green won the LPGA Tour’s JM Eagle LA Championship for the second straight year Sunday, holing out twice from off the greens in a pivotal back-nine stretch at challenging Wilshire Country Club.

LIV Golf announces Chicago venue for individual finale

LIV Golf announced a new venue for its individual event outside of Chicago later this year.

On Tuesday Bolingbrook Golf Club was named host of LIV’s 13th event of the 2024 season. When the Saudi-backed circuit released its schedule last fall, Chicago was earmarked to receive an event, but was without a home course. Bolingbrook previously hosted a 2021 Forme Tour, the PGA Tour affiliated minor-league formed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to provide competition for non-Canadian PGA Tour Canada members.

Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove had hosted a LIV event the past two years in the Chicagoland area.

“The passionate sports fans of Chicago have embraced the intense competition and fan-first experience that LIV Golf delivers, and this year it will be an incredible setting for a high-stakes event as players battle it out for the individual title and a roster spot for 2025,” LIV commissioner and CEO Greg Norman said in a release. “We’re thrilled to return to Illinois with an event at Bolingbrook Golf Club as we celebrate the season-long race and set the stage for the 2024 finale.”

The Bolingbrook competition will see players compete for final positions in the individual standings and the title of 2024 LIV Golf individual champion. It will also determine team seedings for the 2024 Team Championship. The location of the LIV finale has yet to be announced.

Joaquin Niemann is currently atop the individual standings six events into the season, with Jon Rahm in second and Dean Burmester third. Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers are in the lead of the team component of LIV.
