Je kunt dit jaar kiezen voor een route van 60, 80, 100 of 140 kilometer . Onderweg fiets je tussen de containers en over een aantal bijzondere haventerreinen die normaal gesproken niet toegankelijk zijn. De unieke combinatie van rauwe industrie en prachtige natuur maken de Harbour Tour een onvergetelijke ervaring .

Discover the Port of Rotterdam during the Harbour Tour

Sunday September 18, touring cyclists can discover the Port of Rotterdam in a unique way during the 6th Harbour Tour. This experience tour will cycle through the Port of Rotterdam, Zuidland, Vierpolders and Rockanje. Offering participants the opportunity to cycle through special port areas that are normally not open to the public.

The tour starts in the Port of Rotterdam . During the 75, 100 and 135 km routes, participants go past raw industry, metre-high rows of containers, characteristic cranes and other unique parts of Europe’s largest port and industrial complex. Afterwards, the participants are welcome to attend the finish party.

The organisation expects about 1750 participants at the start this year. Registration is now possible at: www.harbourtour.nl.

The Harbour Tour is part of the We Are Cycling series. In the Netherlands, the KlimClassic, Classico Boretti, Chouffe Classic and since this year the Ronde van Nijmegen are part of the We Are Cycling calendar.

We offer two types of themed bicycle tours. The weekly bike tours we offer in the peak season are for individuals and small groups. We offer a self-guided tour on bike called Food ‘n Route all-year round and the Highlights bike tour from April through October.

Rotterdam and the surrounding areas offer plenty of opportunities for bike lovers. Whether you want to enjoy the city’s beautiful architecture, get a breath of fresh air along the Rotte or Nieuwe Maas rivers or explore Rotterdam’s famous port, there is something for everyone. It is good to know that Rotterdam is part of the cycle junction network and that more than 600 kilometres of bike paths are available. The city centre has several bike rental locations and free bicycle parking areas where you can also charge your electric bike. This makes cycling in Rotterdam not only fun but also easy and convenient.

Discover Rotterdam Bike Routes

If you’re looking for a fantastic way to explore the city, our ‘ Discover Rotterdam ’ brochure has two walking routes and two inspiring bike routes for you. The first route called ‘Discover West at its Best’ (14 km), takes you from the heart of the city deep into Rotterdam-West. The second route ‘Noord Explored’ (17 km), leads you past all the highlights in the northern part of the city. The bike routes start at Rotterdam Central Station, follow the existing bike network junctions, and use the bike paths wherever possible. Order or view the brochure online (free of charge) or pick it up at one of the Rotterdam Tourist Information locations for a small fee and discover the city on your own.

Explore Rotterdam with a Professional Guide

Rotterdam is a wonderful place to explore by bike, and there’s no need to do it on your own. With an experienced and enthusiastic guide who knows the city well, you can safely and informatively explore all of the known and unknown hotspots and must-sees of Rotterdam. The city is bike-friendly and has well-developed bike paths, making it easy to get around. Several companies offer bike tours including bike rentals. Companies such as Bike & Bite , Inside Rotterdam , Baja Bikes , City Rotterdam Tours and UrbanGuides (bike tours on request) offer a range of options, from bike tours to culinary tours and other themed explorations.

With its harbour, dunes and historical sights, Hoek van Holland is a popular place to stop for many enthusiastic cyclists. This authentic and historic coastal town has a wide range of bike routes that attract tourists from home and abroad. Many accommodations, attractions and sights are accessible via dedicated bike paths. And Hoek van Holland is also the starting or finishing point of two major international cycling routes: the International Meuse Route and the Rhine Cycle Route .

Bike Routes

You can, of course, explore Rotterdam by bike without an experienced guide. Make your own plan, hire an (electric) bike and create a route. Or get inspiration from the selection of bike routes below and make the most of your adventure without a guide.

The varied Nieuwe Maas Parcours (27 km) runs entirely along the Nieuwe Maas river. It crosses the Brienenoord Bridge to the Eiland van Brienenoord nature reserve and various neighbourhoods in Zuid. You can also find the bike route on the free Rotterdam Routes walking app .
The other bike route on the Rotterdam Routes app , All Through the City by Bike (23km), takes you from the Oude Noorden to the Markthal and from the harbours in Zuid to the typical Rotterdam shops in West. Twelve Rotterdam locals tell you their stories about the city along the way.
If you want to discover the enchanting green spots in Rotterdam, we recommend the Park Route (39 km). It runs via networks both through and around Rotterdam: parks, forests, windmills and rural roads intermingle.
The Polderpad Route from Rotte to Schie (30 km) is tipped by the NS as one of the six most beautiful cycling routes in the Netherlands: starting at Rotterdam Central Station, you cycle through the city, along the Rotte River and the Bergse Voorplas until you reach Polder Schieveen with its picturesque farms and meadows with cows. You continue cycling to Midden-Delfland, the polder landscape between Rotterdam, Delft and The Hague. You return to Rotterdam via the Schie River.
The refreshing River Route (35 km), just south of the Polderpad Route, introduces you to the typical Dutch river landscape and the lush green recreational areas that surround Rotterdam.
You will discover even more polders if you follow the river Rotte to the Rottemeren lakes and back again (26 km). Cycle through a typically green Dutch landscape with dykes, lakes, windmills and several places to stop for coffee and a snack. Discover more routes in the Rotte area.
Go cycling among the windmills of World Heritage Site Kinderdijk . You can rent bikes there or take your bike for free on the Waterbus from Willemsplein and choose your cycling routes from there (up to 42 km).
Midden Delfland is a beautiful rural haven between Rotterdam and Delft with plenty of cycling routes. You bike through polders with pollard willows, sheep and cows. Combine your cycling trip with a pit stop in Delft.
Cycle out of the city from the Zuidplein area and the Zuiderpark, and you will be pleasantly surprised by the largest city park in the Netherlands, country houses, farmlands and especially the mighty Oude Maas River. The Green Southern Edge of Rotterdam (Groene Zuidrand) bike route (43 km) can be found on the Zuid-Hollands Landschap website. You will also find the Living Landscape (33 km) route there, which starts in Schiedam.

Rent a bike

Rotterdam is a fantastic city to explore by bike! There are numerous options to rent a bike and explore the city at your own pace. There are several bike rental companies in the city centre, so you won’t have a problem finding a bike. You can also find (electric) shared bikes in many places in Rotterdam, such as those offered by Donkey Republic. So, instead of renting a bike, you can hop on a shared bike and go on an adventure whenever you want. If you stay in a hotel or hostel, you can often affordably rent a bike too. Regardless of whether you are an experienced cyclist or just starting, cycling in Rotterdam is a great experience for everyone.

There is no better way to explore Rotterdam than by bike, and with the Ebike you can do so without any effort. Explore the city and discover Rotterdam's origins by the Rotte, an ancient river that flows through the area. During this leisurely ride on the eco-friendly Ebike, you can enjoy the beautiful marinas, restaurants, fine art and beautiful nature this area has to offer.

Another wonderful route you can explore by Ebike is the harbour route. Cycle over the Erasmus Bridge and admire the historic Veerhaven harbour before crossing the Maas Tunnel and going back in time. Next, you will reach the busy Waalhaven and pass the Heijplaat peninsula, a village with unique architecture built in the early 20th century for RDM employees. Finally, you will pass by Pernis, a village surrounded by ports and refineries.

It is important to remember that the Ebike goes faster than a regular bike, so remain responsible for your own riding. These tours are available for groups of 15 people or more and include rental of the Ebike, an expert guide and a 2-hour route that takes you past the highlights of Rotterdam. During the 75-minute Rotterdam Harbour Tour , we work with an audio explication system on board. It is audible in Dutch, English, German and French. On paper, the explication is also available in Japanese, Chinese, Spanish and Italian.

For the Extended Harbour Cruise , the audio explication is audible in Dutch, English and German.

During the daytrips and theme cruises, the captain provides explanations in Dutch. There is no audio explication on board.

How do i apply for a refund.

Yes, that’s possible. If you have purchased an admission ticket online via Spido.nl, you can return your admission ticket. Make a request for this by telephone on 010-275 99 99. You will receive your purchase amount back (excluding booking costs). We can change sailing times for you free of charge. Entrance tickets, for example Day trips or Theme trip tickets, can be canceled 5 working days before departure. You will receive your purchase amount back (excluding booking costs) Tickets purchased through other channels cannot be returned by Spido.

What are the departure times for the harbour tours?

We sail the Rotterdam Harbour Tour (75 minutes) daily.

Can I buy tickets at the office?

Given the crowds in the high season, we really recommend buying these online to avoid disappointment at the checkout.

Are own consumptions allowed on board?

You are not allowed to consume your own food or beverage on board.

Is there catering on board?

There is catering on board. During the cruise, various hot and cold snacks are available on board. You can only pay with pin. View the menu during the cruises here . Own consumptions are not allowed.

Can I take my dog on board?

Dogs are permitted on the 75 minute harbour tours, but must be kept on a lead. Reserve a ticket in advance a € 3.00 per dog. Assistance dogs (if demonstrable) are free at all times.

What are the payment options?

Both on board and at the cash register you can only pay by debit/credit card.

Is there a Family Ticket available?

The Family ticket is available (2 adults & 2 children 4 to 11 years old) including a fun informative activity book for the kids.

What is the maximum group size?

Reservation necessary from 20 people. Please send an e-mail to [email protected] or by phone, not via our online ticket system. Lunch bags can be ordered for groups of 20 or more.
