Honda Heritage Center and Auto Plant Tour
Marysville, ohio.
The Honda Heritage Center, which opened in 2015, is a free museum that showcases how Marysville, Ohio, became the largest Honda manufacturing facility in the country. It started out by manufacturing motorcycles, but in 1979, it began producing automobiles. The first U.S.-made Honda Accord rolled off the line in November 1982.
Today, the company’s Marysville operations include the Marysville Auto Plant, the East Liberty Auto Plant and the Performance Manufacturing Center. In January 2020, Honda of America built its 20 millionth vehicle in Ohio. The plants make Honda and Acura brand cars and light trucks.
Groups of up to 60 people can sign up to take a 2.5-hour tour of both the manufacturing plant and the museum. Tours start at the Honda Heritage Center and include either a tour of the Marysville Auto Plant or the East Liberty Auto Plant. Guests visit the museum first and then drive to the plant. The tour is physically demanding and includes a fast-paced one-hour walk through the factory floor that covers about a mile and a half. Visitors get to see every step of the production process except paint. The manufacturing robots are a highlight of the tour.

Miller Brewery Tour
Celebrating its 165th anniversary, the Milwaukee Brewing Company offers a public tour and a historic tour of its extensive Milwaukee operations. The public tour tells the story of Frederick Miller and his journey to the U.S. to start a brewery in 1855. Visitors get the chance to explore his large underground cave complex where he stored his beer before mechanical refrigeration was invented, said Kindra Loferski, guest relations manager for the Miller Visitor Center.
Miller chopped ice from local lakes and streams, covered it with sawdust and hay and lined the walls of the caves. He would put beer there to keep cold during the hot summer months.
Visitors also get to see the Miller Inn, which once housed brewery workers and had a bowling alley, a mess hall and a bar. Today, the building is home to three bars.
The 80-minute tour includes a visit to Miller’s brewhouse, packaging and distribution halls. Miller Brewing’s newest offering takes visitors on a two-hour, extensive history tour of Miller Valley and details how things used to work before modern technology came about. Groups are welcome on both tours with advance bookings. Guests on the public tour over the age of 21 leave with a pint glass and a chip that is good for a free beer at one of many retail locations in Milwaukee. Guests on the history tour leave with a ceramic beer stein. Guests on both tours have many beer-tasting opportunities throughout their visit. They also get a free drink at the end of the tour.

Ford Rouge Factory Tour
Dearborn, michigan.
The Ford Rouge Factory tour begins with a 3D multisensory film experience that uses advanced projection mapping technology, vibrating seats and robots to immerse visitors in the production process of Ford’s iconic F-150 truck. They then head over to the Dearborn Truck Plant for a one- to two-hour tour of the Ford campus.
The top attraction is the walking tour of the Dearborn Truck Plant, where the new military-grade aluminum-alloy-body Ford F-150 truck is made. The tour of the plant is self-guided. Guests walk above the plant’s final assembly line on a 1/3-mile elevated walkway where they get to see the F-150 come into the plant as an empty shell and leave as a completed, fully tested road-ready vehicle.
The manufacturing plant can turn out one truck per minute at full line speed.
The plant has been recognized for its sustainability. The company transformed a brownfield into a living laboratory using stormwater management, land use and redevelopment, support of natural ecosystems and wildlife habitat, and solar energy. The roof of the Dearborn Truck Plant final assembly building is covered with drought-resistant plants like sedum that cover 454,000 square feet or more than 10 acres.
Visitors can also visit the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation, which tells the stories of many of America’s greatest minds, including the Wright brothers; and Greenfield Village, an open-air museum that immerses visitors in the sights and sounds of 300 years of American life through seven historic districts.

Wick’s Pies
Winchester, indiana.
Wick’s Pies was founded in 1944 by Duane “Wick” Wickersham. He started his own bakery and cafe, the Rainbow Restaurant in downtown Winchester, using his mother’s recipes. The pies were so popular that he decided to start selling those separately and then had to start a factory to produce enough pies to meet the demand.
That factory still stands, and visitors are invited to tour the plant and see where the magic happens, including the making of the sugar cream pie, Indiana’s state pie.
Fast-forward to 2020, and Wick’s family still runs Wick’s Pies. The company’s pie factory pumps out 10,000 pies and 30,000 pie shells in an eight-hour shift.
Tours of the plant include the flour room, where the company uses about 15,000 pounds of flour daily, said Dylan Wickersham, Wick’s grandson, who works in sales and marketing for the company.
The flour comes from the flour silo into a large sifter that shakes the flour into a 50-gallon stainless bowl where it is mixed with lard or vegetable shortening, salt, water, dextrose and baking soda. The dough is then rolled out twice by machine before being laid flat over a pie pan. The pies are filled just before they go into the large oven for baking. They are then packaged and frozen.
“We recommend you bring a cooler so you can load up on pie before you leave and come hungry for a nice farm-inspired meal: breakfast, lunch or dinner,” Wickersham said. Mrs. Wick’s Restaurant, which was founded by Wick in 1986, is a full-service bakery and cafe that serves 36 varieties of pie each day. It is just north of the factory.

Great display of Honda history. To bad not open most of the time for people to check out.
Near business. Really interesting to read about the history of Honda and the center itself
Here to tour the plant with OSURA. A very interesting and informative tour. Lots to learn and see about history and production of Honda products. I highly suggest this tour!
Cool place to visit for the price of free. Would recommend to anyone. Take your time and take plenty of pictures. Cool place to see.
The Honda Heritage Center is a brand new museum in Central Ohio that spotlights the history and future of Honda Corp. Some of the more interesting items to be found in this museum are the Acura NSX car that goes on sale next year, a version Honda's famous robot Asimo and the historic cars and motorcycles. To start your visit, in the foyer there's a small selection of motorcycles and cars. Going inside, you're best off to circle to the left and start with the history of Honda with a few more older cars and a several more motorcycles. You will quickly come to the more modern aspect of the museum which has other cars, jet skis, and ATV's - pretty much everything Honda has to offer. Further displays on race cars and auto safety keep things interesting as you continue around the display. You will finally get to the end where you will see the area that focuses on the future of the company with concept cars, robots and a jet. Inside this loop there are several motors to view too, one of which was exploded so you could see all the parts involved. Although it's a small museum, they did a great job with the limited space available. I will tell you it's not something you'd want to drive far out of your way to see or you might be disappointed. In short, check it out when you are in the area and you have about 30 - 45 minutes to kill. The museum recommends that you call ahead for tour times and availability.
Happy Hondadays! Sorry, I can't help it. Just ask Sweetie. Anyway, Mike G. and I got a preview tour of the new museum. It's pretty small; allow an hour or so. It gives a quick overview of Honda's history in the US (though not much before that,) with assorted past and current products and some design studies. There are the usual cars and motorcycles, but also ATVs, a jetski, a mockup of the HondaJet... You'll see engines too, some disassembled so you can see how they work. There are robots demonstrating various manufacturing processes. The facility is very clean and well-lit, and the displays are well done. It's a kind of combination museum and corporate showpiece- definitely worth a visit if you are nearby and into museums, or happen to be within an hour or so and are a car nut. Only super Honda fans will find it worth a special trip.

Well worth a few hours to visit. You will learn a lot, weather you are just a Honda brand fan or an engineer. Fun visit, well executed.
I highly recommend you take the time to visit the museum and take the plant tour. As someone who had the good fortune to consult to Honda about 10 years and spent time on the plant floor from time to time, I can assure you they did as thorough a job of explaining everything, keeping it interesting and even (appropriately) entertaining. I was very impressed. It is an approximately 1.3 mile walk through the plant if I'm not mistaken so be prepared for this. No cameras or phones allowed on the tour so be prepared to stow them. So, what are you waiting for? Go to the site and sign up! (Make sure to come back here and post your review when your're done, too.)
Highly recommend this tour. It is very well done and extremely informative. For those thinking of visiting, I would recommend you arrive perhaps one hour before your scheduled tour. Although you will have a limited amount of time to look around the Heritage Center museum before you move to the plant, it wasn't enough time. There is plenty to see, and it is extremely interesting. Our tour started at 12:15 and we were done by 2:30 pm. Although after the plan tour, we could have returned to the Center to spend more time (it closes at 4:00pm), we were advised to leave the parking lot before the 3:00 pm factory shift ended. It is a HUGE facility and I am certain the traffic would be crazy. Hint: While in the Heritage Center, be sure to watch the video of Mr. Honda's last visit to Marysville. This video exemplifies the values this man brought to his company. The plant tour itself is amazing! it provides an up close view of the car manufacturing process from start to finish. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and the use of headsets makes it easy for you to hear all they are saying. Well worth an afternoon visit! I myself and looking to go again.
I never knew how much Honda has been a part of our American lives for the past 50 years. Well worth the visit.

[Photos] Honda Heritage Center Visitor Experience and Review
Why this free honda museum is worth a drive to see.
Visit the Honda Heritage Center in Marysville, Ohio
At the conclusion of 2014, in the midst of a snow-filled winter, the Honda Assembly Plant in Marysville, Ohio launched an on-site museum dedicated to the legacy of the Japanese brand. Named the Honda Heritage Center, the $35 million facility opened to the public in January, though few Ohioans braved the blizzards to visit the facility initially.
As the weather has gradually become more pleasant, more visitors are finding their way to the Honda Heritage Center, including myself. I had the pleasure of touring the center this past weekend and, based on my review of the experience, encourage you to visit too.
Honda Heritage Center: Visitor Information
Located at 24025 Honda Parkway in Marysville, Ohio (northwest of Columbus), the Honda Heritage Center sits across from Gate A of the town’s manufacturing plant. Nestled behind a picturesque pond, the 160,000-square-foot facility is flanked by an adjacent parking lot.
Parking and admission to the center are free and photography is encouraged.
Visitors are strongly encouraged to schedule visitations in advance by calling 937-644-6888. Appointment times which are offered include Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon; Wednesdays and Fridays at 9am, 10am, and noon; and, Saturdays at 9am, 10am, and 11am. Tours of the museum are self-guided and take approximately an hour-and-a-half. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. When arriving, go through the main doors and check in with the desk on your left.

Honda Heritage Center: Background and Highlights
Since 1979, the Honda Assembly Plant in Marysville, Ohio has produced over 20 million vehicles, starting with a few motorcycles before launching the 1983 Accord.
A wide variety of machines are on display in the giant glass building: a collection of classic Honda and Acura automobiles, the N420HA HondaJet, 1971 N600, 2013 Rancher ATV, U3-X mobile chair, Miimo robotic lawnmower, the last Gold Wing motorcycle produced at the plant, concept vehicles, and motors from many different models.
Despite there being a lot of “Do Not Touch” signs everywhere, a number of hands-on exhibits encourage visitors to experience Honda’s legacy in a fun way:
- A robotic assembly simulation machine can be manipulated using a set of controls
- A sliding screen shows an inside look at the 2011 Honda Odyssey
- Two 3D virtual driving simulators with surround sound
You can’t tour the factory itself, but you can get a glimpse of the engineering center through a glass wall.
Experience a 3D racing simulator game
Honda Heritage Center: My Review
The Honda Heritage Center is much more than a simple museum with bland displays. The types and varieties of innovations on display will interest most visitors, including those who aren’t interested in automobiles. This is especially true of the unique robotic inventions like Miimo and Asimo .
The amount of information posted is adequate: not too much but just enough. The friendly staff is eager to answer questions for those looking for more information that what’s posted. Video footage and candid photos provide an inside look at the Honda family, for those wanting a more insightful, personal experience.
The facility doesn’t have a gift shop, which is a bit disappointing, as other similar facilities have them to offer branded products.
Overall, the Honda Heritage Center is well-worth your time and money (being a free experience) but isn’t worth a long drive only for this purpose. If you’re in the area, make reservations and enjoy a memorable look at the Honda legacy in the United States!

Honda Factory Tour
This was the last leg of a 3000 mile father and son road trip before returning home. What an absolutely amazing place! The factory was hot. But it gets that way in the summer. The way the Accord is made in Marysville, Ohio is just mind blowing! I almost want to go out and buy a new Accord! Every Honda associate from the museum to the factory to the service center was so polite and nice and answered all questions with a smile. Even the guy at the parts counter was very polite and nice. Just an amazing experience. If you like Honda’s and you want to see how their made. This tour is a must do!! Thank you Honda for giving my son and I memories that will last a lifetime!!
What an excellent place to visit. Every wonder how Honda of Marysville got its start? This is where the answer is. Great lace to take your kids and anyone who wants to know more about Honda
You can get on a email alert waitlist for tour tickets and they will tell you when they open up new blocks of tickets. If you can't get the tickets for the day you want, KEEP TRYING! I went on the site every day, sometimes a couple times a day, and spots definitely open up as people cancel and change. Do note that the 9:45am tour doesn't actually start at the factory - you have until 10:30am to walk around the Heritage Center. It's very interesting, with all kinds of information about Honda in the U.S., and they have cars, motorcycles, and even a Honda airplane, but I don't know that we needed an hour for that, given we had arrived 15 minutes before the tour time. Once you get over to the factory, the tour is fantastic! It was easy to hear the guide, as everyone has earpieces and the volume is great. We were warned that there were steps on the tour, but we never left the main floor, so I don't know if there are some tours that go a different route. It's super easy to see every stage of the manufacturing (except paint) and really super interesting. You can't ask questions on the tour because of the noise, so that was the only disappointment, as you had to try and remember everything you wanted to ask until the end when everyone is back in the auditorium. I also wish there was a little more about the company from the guides, not just reading things in the Heritage Center. Our guide did not seem as knowledgeable about different areas of production as the other guide (the group is split into two groups for touring the plant), so that was another small disappointment. Still, it was really interesting and fascinating to see the cars get put together and all the work that goes into it. It's also nice to see the companies helping working with short shifts before changing stations and all the robotic help so they don't have to lift or squat or bend in uncomfortable ways. Great experience!
I will buy a Honda from here on out. They have the most caring employees, who do their with a concern for perfection. This companies values its employees, and it shows. It’s more than just a job for these people...is making a car that is the tops in the industry. THANK YOU HONDA
The Honda tour was incredible. You get to be in the belly the tour watching Honda's being built from the raw rolls of steel to the finished product. It is so informative and the tour guides are excellent. The plant is unbelievably clean and the quality control is very impressive.
Absolutely wonderful experience. Showcases Honda’s vehicles after entering America. Loved the N600! The Honda Jet and production robots made the trip enjoyable for just about anyone. I would love to see a section showcasing Honda cars sold before entering America. A S800 Coupe would be a great addition.

Fantastic Honda Museum and plant tour
Book ahead and do this tour, you won't be disappointed. Very interesting and engaging. Even if you're not a Honda fanatic like me you'll still get something out of this. There were many families and couples on our tour and everyone had a good time.
The Heritage Center gave info on the company and it was interesting to learn that they make more than just motorcycles and cars. The company has come a long way in its relatively short history. Interesting to see the many steps that go into the making of an auto and also the emphasis on quality.
Spent about 45 minutes at the Heritage Center. This is not a tour of the factory, but you can get information here. The Center is like a Honda History commercial. You will see where Honda has come from to what it is doing today, with a little vision into the future.
I would highly recommend the tour of the Marysville plant. It was interesting to watch the process of the cars being built from beginning to end. It was a fast paced experience that kept my interest the entire time. We lingered longer in the museum to soak up more of the experience after the tour.
Honda of Marysville is a great place to visit while in Columbus . I brought a group of 3 to visit the plant, Very enjoyable , even accommodated 2 people with canes.
Many interesting historical vehicles including a twin turbo minivan that Honda ran at the Pikes Peak hill climb several years ago and an array of actual race cars. Highlights include a robot demo by Honda Engineering and a Hondajet fuselage mock-up.
