All 14 Of Jordan Spieth's Career Wins

Jordan Spieth has already achieved more in his five year PGA Tour career than the majority of players achieve in a lifetime. By Matt Cradock

The 24 year old has 14 Professional wins Worldwide, including 11 PGA Tour victories and three majors.

This week marks the fifth anniversary of Spieth’s debut on the PGA Tour and what better way to celebrate it then to go through each Professional win of his career.

2013 John Deere Classic

The American's first victory came only a few months after securing his PGA Tour card.

At the John Deere Classic, Spieth shot a final round 65 to get himself into a three-man playoff, this also included a hole out from the greenside bunker on the 72 nd hole.

The three-man playoff included Zach Johnson and David Hearn and was a closely-fought encounter.

Eventually Spieth claimed the victory with a par on the fifth extra hole. The win made Spieth the fourth youngest player to win on the PGA Tour and the first teenager to win for 82 years.

2014 Emirates Australian Open

The second win of his career came at the end of 2014 in Australia. The Texan had been level with leaders Greg Chalmers and Brett Rumford after three rounds of play.

The fourth round however was all about Spieth, as he shot a course record -8 round of 63 to breeze to a six stroke victory.

2014 Hero World Challenge

The following week Spieth would claim yet another title in dominant fashion as he produced four amazing rounds of golf.

The American was in scintillating form as he set a new tournament record of -26, his four rounds were: 66,67,63 & 66.

2015 Valspar Championship

The second PGA Tour victory for Spieth came at the Valspar Championship in Florida.

In an amazing duel between Ryder Cup team mate Patrick Reed and fellow American Sean O’Hair it was Spieth who came out on top on the third extra playoff hole.

The tournament was dubbed one of the best of the year due to its ever-changing leaderboard and incredible escapes and saves.

2015 Masters

The second win of Spieth’s 2015 season came at the famous Augusta National Golf Club.

It was the first major win for the American and in the process he would smash several records along the way.

His first two rounds of 64 & 66 set the 36 hole scoring record. He would then break the 54 hole scoring record the next day and would end up equalling Tiger Woods’ overall record of -18.

Spieth also produced the most birdies during the Masters by making 28 and became the second-youngest person to win the Green Jacket.

2015 US Open

The 21-year-old followed up his first major victory with yet another one at the 2015 US Open.

Spieth started the final round in a four way tie for the lead and after posting a -1 round of 69 he was leading in the clubhouse.

However, Dustin Johnson stuck his approach shot on the 18 th to 12-feet for a possible eagle and it seemed the curtain was coming down on Spieth's hope for another Major.

Amazingly though, Johnson would three putt and hand the trophy to his countryman. The win made Spieth only the sixth player ever to win the Masters and the US Open in the same year and the fourth-youngest player to win multiple majors.

2015 John Deere Classic

Spieth claimed his second John Deere Classic in 2015 in yet another playoff, this time against American Tom Gillis.

The American had been questioned for playing the event as it was the Open Championship the following week and the a number of players were playing in Scotland as preparation.

However, Spieth would claim victory on the second playoff hole and help gain momentum going towards the third major of the year.

2015 Tour Championship & FedEx Cup

jordan spieth pga tour wins

Spieth’s incredible 2015 season was wrapped up in fine style as the American claimed the Tour Championship and with it the FedEx Cup.

The 22-year-old needed a victory to claim the FedEx Cup title and he delivered, as he fired four rounds in the 60s to finish four clear of Danny Lee, Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson .

The five victories during the season saw Spieth sweep all the major awards for the season: PGA Player of the Year and PGA Tour Player of the Year, the Vardon Trophy, Byron Nelson Award for leading the tour in scoring average and Arnold Palmer Award for leading the tour's money list.

2016 Hyundai Tournament of Champions

jordan spieth pga tour wins

Spieth started 2016 in strong form once again; during the Tournament of Champions he would shoot a record score of -30.

He would win the event by eight strokes and also became just the second player in PGA Tour history to shoot -30 in a 72-hole event.

2016 Dean & DeLuca Invitational

jordan spieth pga tour wins

Spieth claimed his first win at the Dean & DeLuca Invitational following his Masters collapse in April .

The American birdied six holes on the back nine to hold off fellow Countryman Harris English by three shots.

2016 Emirates Australian Open

jordan spieth pga tour wins

This was the third win of the 2016 season for Spieth and it came in yet another playoff, this time against Australians Cameron Smith and Ashley Hall.

The American had shot a final round 69 to draw level with the leaders and a birdie on the first playoff hole was enough to win the tournament for the second time in three years.

2017 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

jordan spieth pga tour wins

In his 100 th PGA Tour start he would claim yet another title, finishing at -19.

Coming into the final round he had a comfortable six shot lead and a final round of 70 helped cement the victory in convincing fashion.

With the win, Spieth became just the second man, along with Tiger Woods, to win nine times on the PGA Tour before the age of 24.

2017 Travelers Championship

And he wouldn’t have to wait long to secure his 10 th title in dramatic circumstances.

After a first round 63 he almost won wire-to-wire, finishing at -12 and tied with fellow countryman and close friend Daniel Berger .

At the first playoff hole Spieth would hole out from the greenside bunker to miraculously claim his 10 th PGA Tour win of his career. The celebration with caddie Michael Greller was superb.

2017 Open Championship

jordan spieth pga tour wins

His third major win came at Royal Birkdale in once again an epic duel, this time with Matt Kuchar.

Having entered the final round with the outright lead he was soon trailing Kuchar, but a formidable run of birdie on the 14 th , eagle on the 15 th and birdies on 16 and 17 gave the 23-year-old a three stroke victory and the Claret Jug.

He therefore became only the second player in history to win three of golf's four majors before his 24 th birthday.

Spieth has also been apart of three President Cup teams claiming three out three wins and also two Ryder Cup teams winning once in 2016 and losing once in 2014.

Jordan spieth claims 2022 rbc heritage via playoff with patrick cantlay for first win as a father, share this article.

Even the best putters go through stretches where the hole looks small. Jordan Spieth admitted to feeling that way on Saturday. But winners know how to win, and on Sunday along the marshy shore of Calibogue Sound Spieth proved that he still knows how to find a way to close and collect the trophy, Tartan jacket and the seven-figure check that came with it (and pushed his career earnings over $50 million).

“I won this golf tournament without a putter,” he said.

Despite his putter woes, Spieth sank the putt when it mattered most. In the shadow of a 90-foot-high, candy cane-striped lighthouse rising behind the 18th green, Spieth nailed a 10-foot birdie putt at the final hole to shoot 5-under 66 at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

That was enough to overcome an embarrassing miss from 18 inches the day before, finish at 13-under 271 and return to 18 and make a par at the first playoff hole to defeat Patrick Cantlay and win the PGA Tour’s RBC Heritage.

Spieth, 28, earned his 13 th  PGA Tour title and first as a father . When Cantlay’s 35-foot putt to extend the playoff sailed by, Spieth’s wife Annie rushed on the green with son Sammy in tow to celebrate as a family.

RBC Heritage: Leaderboard | Photos | Winner’s bag | Money

It was an unlikely win after Spieth struggled with the short stick on Saturday, making just 29 total feet of putts in the third round and nothing longer than 3 feet. To make matters worse, he missed that tap-in par putt at the last and entered the final round trailing by three strokes.

“I was about as upset after the round yesterday as I’ve ever been in a golf tournament. There’s just no excuse for those kind of brain farts as a professional to myself, but also to Michael, who’s working his butt off, to go out there and do that that could potentially affect the outcome of a tournament,” he said.

It was shades of a similar miscue to end the third round of last year’s British Open, where he finished second to Collin Morikawa. This one lingered in his head, too, and he attributed a tip from his wife of all people, who he said never comments on his golf, for helping him in crunch time.

“You need to take five seconds,” she told her husband, before knocking in any tap-in putts.

“There was a couple times I was just going to rake it, and I was like, no, I’ve got to take five seconds,” Spieth recalled.

He was still smarting over the wasted shot in the morning, but he resolved to make up for it and did so quickly by making eagles at two of the first five holes. First, he holed a bunker shot at the par-5 second and then followed by draining a curling 24-foot putt at the fifth. His putting mantra for the final round appeared to be working. “I’m not going to leave one putt short. And if they miss, they miss, and just try to be a little bit more aggressive,” he said.

Just when it looked as if Spieth might be off to the races, he drove up against the lip of a greenside bunker at the ninth hole, had to play out sideways and missed a 5-foot par putt. When he was too aggressive with his birdie putt at the 11 th , Spieth missed the comebacker from 5 feet to drop to 11 under. Renowned for his putting, Spieth’s strength of his game seemingly has abandoned him this season. He entered the week ranked 180 th  on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained: Putting this season, and lost more than 2 1/2 strokes to the field on the greens for the week, the most by a tournament winner since 2010.

“It’s striking to see him struggle with the putter,” CBS Sports analyst Dottie Pepper said before Spieth attempted a 13-foot birdie putt. “It’s something I think we all took for granted and he may have too, working so hard on the golf swing.”

Despite still working through a swing change that includes an unusual pre-shot routine, Spieth’s ball-striking has been brilliant, as he led the field in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green for the second time in the last three weeks.

“The fact that I can hit it this well for four days consistently and not rely on a putter to win a tournament is a good feeling,” he said.

So many players had a shot at the title on Sunday, but Spieth dodged one pursuer after another. Four were tied at 13 under early in the back nine and at one time nine players were within a stroke of the lead. Erik Van Rooyen was the first player to reach 14 under with a birdie at the ninth but he faded with four bogeys on the back nine and finished at 11 under.

Shane Lowry climbed to 14 under after a 20-foot birdie putt at 11 and gained a two-stroke edge. He had gone 25 consecutive holes without dropping a shot before chipping into the water at the 14 th  and making a double bogey. Lowry ran out of birdies over the closing stretch and shot 69 to tie for third. Third-round leader Harold Varner III failed to make a birdie on the back nine, including a miss from 35 feet to join the playoff, and shot 70.

Spieth had the solo lead at 13 under after his birdie at the last but it didn’t seem as if it would be enough, especially after Sepp Straka tied for the lead when he drilled a 35-foot birdie putt at 17. But Straka made a sloppy bogey at the last and fell back into a seven-way tie for third.

Only Cantlay, the reigning FedEx Cup champion, managed to tie Spieth with a 9-foot birdie at the par-3 17 th  hole and had a 13-foot birdie putt at the last for the win that missed to the right. He signed for a final-round 3-under 68.

On the first playoff hole, both players hit into the front greenside bunker at 18. Fittingly, Spieth escaped to inches, took his five seconds to tap in for par. There would be no drama for him on the same green where he had seemingly cost himself a vital stroke if not the tournament the day before. Cantlay was doomed by a plugged lie and exploded to 35 feet and missed the putt.

“With it plugged like that, it’s darn near impossible to get it close,” he said.

One week after missing the cut at the Masters, where he won in 2015 and is perennially in the hunt, Spieth was a winner again.

“I never missed a cut at the Masters before and very rarely had not had a chance to win on the weekend. So I hated it,” he said. “It was the worst feeling. It was the worst feeling as a golfer that I can remember.”

First win as a father ❤️ @JordanSpieth pic.twitter.com/jDBBJNMiDR — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) April 17, 2022

That seemed a distant memory when he was celebrating on the 18 th green at Harbour Town after claiming his first title since the 2021 Valero Texas Open, which also happened to conclude on Easter Sunday. Asked if he knew what tournament would finish on Easter Sunday next year, Spieth answered, “I guess Augusta (site of the Masters). That’s good vibes.”

So is winning without a putter.

Jordan Spieth earns 13th PGA TOUR victory in playoff at RBC Heritage

In the final round of the 2022 RBC Heritage, Jordan Spieth (5-under 66) and Patrick Cantlay (3-under 68) each got to 13-under through 72 holes. Spieth would defeat Cantlay on the first playoff hole to win his 13th career PGA TOUR title.

Jordan Spieth had already tapped in for par on the 18th hole, the first of a sudden-death playoff against Patrick Cantlay Sunday at the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town. He watched as Cantlay's par attempt sped past the hole and it hit him that he had won his 13th PGA Tour title.

"The whole thing took me by surprise because I legitimately thought Patrick was going to make it from 35 feet," Spieth said afterward, while wearing the tartan jacket that historically is presented to the winner.

Spieth's wife, Annie, came running out, holding 5-month-old son Sammy, and the family celebrated the victory. This was the second consecutive year that Spieth won on Easter Sunday. Last year he won the Valero Texas Open.

With the victory, Spieth earned $1,440,000, which turns out to be a bigger deal than you might think. The first-place prize money payout pushed Spieth past $50 million in career earnings, lifting him to $50,578,855.

Just 10 other tour pros have broke the $50 million barrier. Spieth now is No. 11 on the all-time list, having jumped Ernie Els and Jason Day from 13th prior to this week. Spieth is now less than $4 million behind 10th-place Sergio Garcia. Matt Kuchar, who earned $330,857 for a third-place tie at the RBC Heritage, jumped past Garcia and moved into ninth on the list with $54.5 million.

Tiger Woods tops the list with more than $120 million in career earnings. Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson are second and third, respectively.

2015 Valspar Championship

Jordan spieth wins valspar championship in dramatic playoff.

Jordan Spieth and his world-class short game came up big in a playoff victory Sunday at the Valspar Championship.

Spieth capped off an afternoon of back-nine charges, clutch putts and unseemly par saves by making a 30-foot birdie putt on the third extra hole of a playoff at Innisbrook Resort's Copperhead Course to beat Ryder Cup teammates Patrick Reed and Sean O'Hair.

"A crazy back nine," said Spieth, who won for the second time in his PGA TOUR career and fourth time worldwide to reach a career-high No. 6 in the world.

The 21-year-old Spieth was three shots behind with six holes to play when he made two birdies to catch a faltering Ryan Moore, and then saved par on his final three holes for a 2-under 69 to join the playoff. And these par saves were not what anyone would call routine.

With his right foot in the bunker and his left foot on grass well above the ball in the sand, he blasted out to 3 feet on the 16th. From deep rough on a hill, he hit a flop shot to a short pin to 6 feet to stay tied for the lead. And he holed a 12-foot par putt on the 18th that fell in the left side of the cup.

Reed was just as impressive with his short game to keep his hopes alive in the eighth and perhaps most compelling playoff on the PGA TOUR this season. He buried a 30-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole for a bogey-free 66, pumping his fist as if he were still in Gleneagles at the Ryder Cup.

Reed was the first to finish at 10-under 274.

On the 18th hole in a playoff, he was buried in the lip of a bunker, blasted out to just under 10 feet and made par to stay in the game after Spieth missed from 10 feet. On the next playoff hole, the tough 16th, Reed had no chance well behind the green in grass so deep he could barely see his ball. That came out perfectly for another par.

Reed, who went the final 29 holes without a bogey on the Copperhead Course, never had a chance to try for a third par save when Spieth hit the winner.

Not to be overlooked was O'Hair, who has had to earn his full PGA TOUR card the last two years in the Web.com Tour Finals. He poured in a pair of big birdies on the back nine, including a 30-footer on the 16th, and made a tough par save on the 18th in regulation.

O'Hair had a 12-foot birdie putt for the win on the second extra hole, and the putt caught the right side of the cup.

Spieth earned a small measure of redemption against Reed, a friend and Ryder Cup partner. Reed beat him in a playoff at the Wyndham Championship in 2013 for the first of Reed's four PGA TOUR wins.

Only two players in 2015 have had at least a share of the 54-hole lead and went on to victory on the PGA TOUR. Moore did not become the third. He holed a 7-iron on the sixth hole for an eagle to take a two-shot lead, and back-to-back birdies early on the back nine stretched his lead to three shots with six to play.

Moore went long and into thick rough on the par-3 13th and made bogey, and then dropped another shot on the 16th. He made one more bogey on the 18th when his hopes were gone, closed with a 72 and finished fifth.

That was the wrong direction to go with so many players charging to the finish line.

Reed ran into a pair of 12-foot birdie putts to get within one shot, and then made his big birdie on the 18th. O'Hair ran off four birdies in a six-hole stretch, and finished with a tough par. His drive went into the trees and his approach stopped against the collar of the green some 50 feet away. Using the blade of his wedge, he knocked it up to 5 feet and holed the putt for a 67 to join Reed at 274.

Spieth made a tough par save on the 12th, a 10-foot birdie on the 13th and a 30-foot birdie on the par-5 14th to tie for the lead, and then his short game saved him.

Henrik Stenson, in his Valspar Championship debut, ran off three straight birdies and closed with a 67 to fall one shot short of the playoff.

Spieth came full circle at Innisbrook with the victory. Two years ago, his short game led to a birdie-par finish that paved the way for him to get a PGA TOUR card after starting the season with no status. He went on to great things that year, including a victory as a 19-year-old and a spot in The Presidents Cup. And he hasn't really stopped. Spieth went over $10 million for his career.

Spieth wins John Deere Classic in five hole playoff, first PGA Tour victory

Spieth wins John Deere Classic in five hole playoff, first PGA Tour victory

SILVIS, Ill. -- Jordan Spieth, 19, outlasted David Hearn and Zach Johnson on the fifth hole of a playoff to win the John Deere Classic on Sunday, becoming the youngest winner on the PGA Tour in 82 years.

Spieth, who doesn't turn 20 for another two weeks, hit a two-foot par putt to earn a spot in the British Open field at Muirfield. He is also the first teenager to a PGA Tour title win since Ralph Guldahl took the Santa Monica Open in 1931.

"I didn't think it would happen this early," said Spieth, who turned professional in December. "I had a plan. I guess the plan got exceeded."

Spieth started the day six shots behind third-round leader Daniel Summerhays. But he forced his way into the playoff by holing out of the bunker from 44 feet on the final hole of regulation.

Spieth got lucky when that shot took a pair of fortuitous bounces. But he also put himself in that position with a brilliant final round.

"The shot on 18 was the luckiest shot I ever hit in my life," Spieth said. "The fact that it bounced right and hit the pin and dropped down to the cup, it's just extremely fortunate."

Spieth, Hearn and Johnson then made par on the first four playoff holes, but Spieth made another par to stave off Johnson and Hearn on the fifth.

Johnson, the defending champion at Deere Run, seized control midway through the final round of regulation, but he simply couldn't get enough birdies to put the field away, and his uncharacteristic bogey on No. 18 set up a three-man playoff.

All three players had their chances to make a playoff-ending shot -- with Johnson narrowly missing from the back of the green on a chip shot that clipped the cup on the first playoff hole.

Johnson hit the ground in disbelief. It would turn out to be the closest he would get to victory.

"I had my chances on the back side in regulation. I mean, I hit some really good shots and just didn't make anything," Johnson said.

Hearn also had a shot at the win, which would have been his first on the PGA Tour, as well. But he missed a makeable putt on the fourth playoff hole.

"Congrats to Jordan. He's going to have an amazing career, obviously. He's an incredible talent to come on Tour at his age and have as much success as quickly as he has. So hat's off to him," Hearn said.

Spieth, Hearn and Johnson all went right on their final tee shot. Spieth scrambled out of the rough, though, finding the back of the green to save par and win his first PGA Tour event.

Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy were all 20 when they earned their first victories, but none of them could match Spieth, who is now the fourth-youngest winner in PGA Tour history.

"Just got so lucky. That's what it is. But right now I'm extremely pleased, and a little worried about only having short sleeves going to Scotland," Spieth said.

2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson leaderboard, scores: Jake Knapp in position for win No. 2 as Jordan Spieth misses cut

The pga tour rookie could become just the second player this season to win multiple times.

jake-knapp-2024-cj-cup-byron-nelson-round-2-g.jpg

A PGA Tour rookie looks for victory No. 2 heading into the weekend at the 2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Jake Knapp takes a one-stroke lead over Matt Wallace and Troy Merritt into the second half of this tournament at 14 under after back-to-back rounds of 7-under 64. The Mexico Open winner has carded 15 birdies against just one dropped shot through his first 36 holes.

Although a rookie by name, Knapp should be comfortable in the spotlight over the next two days. He acquitted himself nicely in his breakthrough victory at Vidanta Vallarta in late February and should put this experience in contention to good use.

"Yeah, I feel comfortable," Knapp said. "You know, I've been there before. Even Farmers was around the lead and Cognizant was around the lead there. Courses like this where scores are going to be low, you don't worry too much about what other guys are doing. You try to make a bunch of birdies. You know, it's a course that fits me well, so if I just keep doing the things I'm doing, I'll be in a good spot."

Despite his silky smooth swing and effortless speed, Knapp has struggled since the Cognizant Classic, where he finished T4 the week following his win. He has failed to collect a top-40 result in his last five tournaments, but that may be chalked up to experiencing a number of firsts.

Coming into the year without major championship exemptions and status in signature events, Knapp changed all that in February. Since then, he has endured a busy two months by playing in the PGA Tour's flagship event, a couple of signature events, and even making the cut in his Masters debut.

"I think I just got a little tired," Knapp said. "I think, mentally, it was just a lot going on, and I wouldn't say necessarily life changing, just everything got busier and days got longer. It was just a bit of an adjustment. Didn't feel like I had the same energy throughout the day in some of those weeks, which was kind of a bummer. Decided to take last week off and give myself a good reset at home and work on some things I've been struggling with, and feel like it's working out this week so far."

Although a win on Sunday wouldn't be a personal first, it would make Knapp the first rookie since Xander Schauffele in 2017 to win multiple times on the PGA Tour. He'd also join Scottie Scheffler as the only other player to win more than once so far this season, which is pretty good company for a rookie in the year 2024.

1. Jake Knapp (-14)

Even though Knapp's game has dipped a little over the last two months, his iron play has not. The approach play is carrying him thus far; he gained north of five strokes with his irons through two rounds and shows no signs of slowing down. Combined with his length with the big stick, Knapp's long game will put ample pressure on his pursuers to keep tacking on birdies on what will be a wet and accessible TPC Craig Ranch.

Other contenders

T2. Matt Wallace, Troy Merritt (-13) 4. Kelly Kraft (-12) T5. Keith Mitchell, Taylor Pendrith,Davis Riley (-11) T8. S.H. Kim, Taiga Semikawa, Aaron Rai, Alex Noren, Keith Mitchell, Ben Kohles (-10) T13. Nick Dunlap, Si Woo Kim, K.H. Lee, Zach Johnson, Adam Schenk, Byeong Hun An and five others (-9)

There are names at that 9-under number, including Dunlap, Kim and two-time tournament winner Lee, but Johnson is an interesting inclusion. The 2023 U.S. Ryder Cup captain hasn't enjoyed the nicest couple of months after missing three straight individual cuts, lowlighted by the Masters, where he went viral for something not related to his game. Still, in his 500th PGA Tour start, the two-time major champion is in the thick of it and credits a hard-hat mentality for digging him out of the hole.

"I tell you, this is going to sound, well, cliché, but also my game has been good; I just haven't season results," Johnson said. "Very frustrated with lack of finishes. I've worked hard. My sole focus mid-to late fall last year to now has just been just, for lack of a better term, working in the dirt, and I believe my best golf is still coming. Whether it's this week or the next or the following, wherever it may be, I'm still so engrained in that process that I just have to remain patient. It's coming. The last two days were really good."

Si Woo's scorcher

Last year's runner-up and one of this year's favorite, Si Woo Kim, was on the outside looking in for most of his second round. On the wrong side of the cut number, the South Korean needed a massive finish to secure a weekend tee time. He stood at 2 under for the tournament with 10 holes to play and got to 3 under courtesy of a birdie on his ninth hole, the par-5 18th. Kim remained on this number before rattling off five straight birdies and a closing eagle over his last six holes to play them in a 7-under fashion. He not only played himself into the weekend, but he played himself back into this golf tournament at 9 under.

Jordan Spieth sent packing early

Between the withdrawals of Will Zalatoris and Sungjae Im before the tournament and now a missed cut from Spieth, the CJ Cup Byron Nelson will be without some star power over the weekend. Spieth opened his tournament with back-to-back darts on Thursday but was unable to recapture the magic with his approach play over the next 34 holes. He played the par 5s poorly, looked uncomfortable with certain lies in the fairway and never got running down hill. Spieth's nagging wrist injury does nothing to help, but it's clear there's a lack of quality in his game at the moment. In his last 8 starts, Spieth has:

2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson updated odds and picks

Odds via Sportsline consensus

  • Jake Knapp: 18/5
  • Matt Wallace: 7-1
  • Keith Mitchell: 10-1
  • Troy Merritt: 14-1
  • Alex Noren: 16-1
  • Taylor Pendrith: 18-1
  • Davis Riley: 18-1
  • Si Woo Kim: 20-1

Let's go off the beaten path and rock with Ben Griffin at 55-1. He has been hitting his irons great so far this week and looks to have turned the corner on the greens after a poor putting performance on Thursday. He sits five behind Knapp, which leads little room for error, but Griffin's number still looks a touch inflated.

2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson Full Field: Jordan Spieth Headlines in Texas

Four players in the top 30 are playing one week before a signature event and two weeks before the PGA Championship.

  • Author: John Schwarb

The PGA Tour rolls on to one of its most historic events, albeit one that won’t exactly have a historically strong field.

The CJ Cup Byron Nelson is an interesting Tour amalgam of a name, with the CJ Cup originally having been a Tour stop in South Korea before moving back to the U.S. Rory McIlroy won the last two, in 2021 in Las Vegas and 2022 in South Carolina. But after AT&T discontinued its sponsorship following the 2023 event (AT&T continues to sponsor the Pebble Beach Pro-Am), the CJ Cup name found a new home.

Byron Nelson needs no introduction. The legendary Texan ranks sixth all-time in Tour wins with 52, including 11 in a row in 1945. In 1944 he won the Texas Victory Open, which in 1968 became the Byron Nelson Golf Classic. His name has been affixed to the Dallas-area stop ever since, and for years he greeted the winner off the 18th green. He died in 2006 at age 94.

His namesake event continues but in a compromised part of the Tour schedule. The second week of April of course was the Masters and immediately after that was the signature event RBC Heritage. Next week’s Wells Fargo Championship is another signature event, followed by the PGA Championship.

All that means there aren’t many household names teeing it up at TPC Craig Ranch. Native Texan Jordan Spieth is the highest-ranked player in the world rankings at No. 20, and Jason Day, Tom Kim and Will Zalatoris are the only players inside the top 30.

But valuable FedEx Cup points and a $9.5 million purse are up for grabs for the field of 156, plus the ability to play one’s way into Wells Fargo and the season’s second major.

Here’s the full field for the CJ Cup Byron Nelson from the PGA Tour. Keep an eye on this Twitter post all week for any field adjustments.

The PGA Tour returns to stroke play format at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson this week following the team pairing win last week by Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry in the Zurich Classic . The 156 player field for the Byron Nelson includes just Jordan Spieth (20), Jason Day (22) and Tom Kim (23) from the top 25 players in the world golf rankings after Will Zalatoris (30) withdrew Tuesday after a flare-up in his back.

The top players will attack wide open Zoysia fairways and large bentgrass greens in a birdie-fest and putting contest this week. TPC Craig Ranch is the host course for the fourth time, and the 7,414 yard course now plays to Par 71 with the 12th hole shortened from 547 yards (Par 5) to 493 yards (Par 4). Rowlett Creek runs through the property and crosses 14 of the 18 holes.

TPC Craig Ranch is located in McKinney about 30 miles north of Dallas, where FanDuel ambassador Jordan Spieth lives and enters as the tournament favorite. Close behind is 2023 Byron Nelson champion Jason Day. Longshot K.H. Lee won the other two events held at TPC Craig Ranch.

The field lacks star power as most of the top pros prepare for next week’s Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte followed by the PGA Championship at Jack Nicklaus-designed Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville.
