So easy to install and just a replacement if you already have the OEM pods (they use the same mounting holes). These are solid, bigger than the OEM 5.25 so bigger speakers = better sound! They really look awesome and make my Voyager sound like a concert! EA did it again!

I was fortunate enough to get one of the very first sets of these pods. I’m happy to report that they are very well made, flow well with the design of the bike, rugged and super easy to install. EA provides everything you need to get them mounted, wired up and ready for the 6.5″ speaker pf your choice. While all that is great, the REALLY important part is the sound. These babies did not disappoint! They are full and rich and really fill the air around you. Even at highway speeds. Another home run for EA.

At long last! Do not let your passenger go without having music in the rear of your Voyager! The installation took around 45 minutes and the directions were super easy to follow. Once you balance your new rear speakers so there’s no fade to the front ones, they come in really nice and of course makes the music that much louder and better. The pods are well made and feel very durable. I am 100% satisfied and will continue to give my business to Engineered Adapters.

Just simple, I’m not goin to say much but it’s AWESOME, Randy god bless you!!! I did some modifications like support to the area of screws goes like I did reinforce the walls were the screws goes, it’s plastic and the weight of the base with speakers I know it is going to break so I did use eternabond sealant & I made 1 base in aluminum by the way I’m using DS18 Hydro NXL-6 Speakers I’m so happy with my new style, again thank you guys for all your time to make us happy

Perfect fit! Be patient cutting out the stencil but it fit great! One hole was tight but worked with it for a few and was great! Very simple process and I used Polk Audio DB652 and fit right in! No drilling for speaker holes! Still a little smoothing of excess trim around holes to put clips in but worked great! I received only 2 mounting plates so I called Engineer Adapters and Randy told me there are only 2 plates and that they are still using Kawasaki instructions! Randy was very polite and helpful! I will be purchasing more from them because of the ease of installation and great fit! Thanks again!

Looking for what the best options for front and rear speakers are on a 2012 voyager. Also any info on what the best slip on exhaust for the 1700 is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have cobra slip ons. They sound really nice. I just changed my front speakers to Rockford fosgate punch 152 speakers and added a set of shark motorcycle speakers to the back. Haven't been able to ride it yet to see how it sounds on the road, but in my garage it rocks. If it doesn't sound good enough I'll add an amp. I'll post a pic if I can figure out how.

Couldn't do it on my phone

Where did you get those and what bran are they. How hard were they to install Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They look great Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hey do you know anything about adjusting the rear suspension the air shocks on the voyager. If so any helpful hint. Me and my wife are not huge people but we aren't small people either. Just trying to figure where I should set it at. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No. I've not messed with them. They ride good by myself and with a passenger so I haven't touched them. If it seems to set too low when you have a passenger just turn them up a bit. The owners manual tells you how to adjust them. You'll probably have to take off the bags to do it.

Update on the speakers: Don't bother with the Shark speakers. I fried them in the first 10 minutes of riding. I just got the Kawasaki rear speakers yesterday. I'm installing them this evening. If they don't perform well enough I'll move the Rockford Fosgates from the front to the back and order some Polk Audio for the front. It's hard to find anything in a 5.25" speaker that doesn't sound like it's clipping when the bass hits.

I just ordered Polk audio for the front. Is an amp necessary for them to sound louder and better then stock or can a go no amp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Definitely need an amp. The radio is made to push the stock speakers. The fosgates didn't sound much different than stock until I added the amp. I just finished installing the rear speakers and they really made a difference. They Sound 10 times better than the sharks did. I got a 4 channel Soundstream amp for around $100. it will put out more than the speakers are rated for so I turned it down some.

Yea I found a kenwood amp that if I bridge it. It will meet the speakers specs exactly. Starting with the speakers then the amp. Then rear speakers eventually. How much did you find the rear speakers for and are the plug and play Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I got the Kawasaki rear speakers. They are plug and play. The connectors are under the seat. You have to drill holes in the trunk to mount them but they look really nice. They're not cheap...$380 everywhere I looked, so I went with one where I didn't have to pay tax or shipping.

Can ya send me the link for that so I have it. Cause I am going to get those eventually Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Go on eBay and search for Kawasaki voyager rear speakers. That's where I got them. Amazon has them but they charge tax, at least in TN they do.

What part of TN you from. Have family at fort Campbell and just north of Knoxville in Powell Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm northeast of Knoxville in Morristown.

Can you post a pic of the bike with the rear speakers. Also have you had any issues with your air shocks not holding air. And do you know anything or anybody that has done airride on the back of a voyager or vaquero Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'll post pic tomorrow at work from my comp. I haven't figured out how to do it from my phone

If you push the plus button next to the text window it will allow you to post pics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Here are the speakers on the bike. I don't have any pics of the amp mounted, but I removed the fairing and put the amp on top of the radio. It made it inconvenient to adjust, but hopefully I won't have to adjust it any more. I've had no problems at all with it, but I've not used it a whole lot. Between weather and work I've not been able to ride much lately.

Footwear Vehicle Scooter Auto part Vespa

Those look good. What seat combo and back rest is that cause it looks nice. Love the white also. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's a mustang seat with the driver backrest. It beats the **** out of the stock seat.

So I got the soubdstream amp that met the specs of the speakers exactly. First time out I turned up the radio and one of the speakers popped. And the amp was only turned up to about 60% of max. What the heck. I am not sure what to do. On top of they were louder but not any clearer then the stock speakers once I made them loud enough to hear at 60mph. Any suggestions. All help is appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I couldn't get a good clear sound loud enough to hear at highway speed out of my front ones alone, even after putting the Rockford Fosgates in. Once I sprung for the Kawasaki rear speakers it made things a lot better. I don't have to go as loud with them so they don't distort. Another thing I had to do is keep the bass set on 1, mid on 3 or 4, and treble all the way up. My amp has the high and low pass filters and I set them to stop the bass that was too much for the speakers.

Yea I set mine for no bass from the AMP and got my radio set about the same. Looks like I got to bite the bullet on the speakers sooner then later. Lol Did you put after market in the rear also or leave the stock speakers for now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Stock right now. They seem to be handling the amp pretty well, although I had the low pass filter set higher for the rear than the front because of those little shark speakers. As a result they sometimes cut out. I need to pull my fairing off and do some adjusting. I'd like to find some adapters and put 6-1/2" in the front and move the Rockford Fosgates to the back.

I heard of someone that makes an adaptor to 6.5 but I don't know where to get them. If you find out let me know. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I found them. They're $85 and says they're out of stock. I saw where a guy added Pioneer 6.5" speakers to his fairing without using any adapters and they fit so he still has the factory grilles on it. This post has a link to the adapters and the post where the guy installed the Pioneers Vaquero Speaker Adapters - Page 2 - Kawasaki Vulcan Forum : Vulcan Forums

So what link on page 2. The guy with the LED or the guy with the VW adaptor Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The one with the red bike is the adapters that are $85. The ther is a guy named Rick and he has 4 pics of how he installed the speakers without adapters.

You going to try one of them. Cause that sounds awesome to get bigger speakers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have considered going aftermarket stereo to get more adjustability also Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not sure if I'll try it or not. I wish I had an old 6.5" so I could play with it and see how I could mount them before I spend the money. I may go to the flea market and see if I can find a cheap set to play with

Can you get aftermarket and still have the handlebar controls? I've not looked

T Gibbs said: Can you get aftermarket and still have the handlebar controls? I've not yes there is some box you buy and hook resistors in line and it will allow them to work with aftermarket stereo. I watched a YouTube video on it the other day. I will find it and share the link Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Click to expand...

Stock Speaker Upgrade Advice

kawasaki vulcan 1700 voyager rear speakers

  • Add to quote

I have a 2010 Voyager that I decided to hard wire my GPS to the accessory wire in the front fairing. Took the left speaker and left accessory box out to get to it. The stock speakers could definitely use an upgrade. I have front and rear speakers so I will need 4. I've reviewed as many threads as I could find but still have some questions. Not looking to add a amp so is there something I should be looking for in particular in regard to specs?? Does it make a difference to use 2-way or 3-way speakers? Just looking to get clearer, crisper sound over stock. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Frank

kawasaki vulcan 1700 voyager rear speakers

Frank, I just put the polk DB521 speakers front and rear in My 09 voyager 2 days ago. They are 2 way as are the stock. I am not adding an amp either. I don't think it is needed. These speakers sound very good. I can now hear a real difference with the volume from 15 through 30 setting. Stock did not give additional volume after say 18 on the volume where these really do. Nice and clean sound all the way up. When you add these to the rear speakers,You will have to cut off 3 little tubes inside the enclosures to have clearance for the large magnets. All these do is hold the cable in place and I would say they are from the plastic forming process during manufacture of the housing. Found these through amazon 55 bucks a set. 110 dollars well spent.

Did the amp like Brucer and Einstien Pulled the trigger and bought the Rockford Fosgate PBR300X4. Installed it Today. Piece of cake due to studying Brucer and Einstiens post. This thing really rocks now. Speakers 110 bucks for 2 sets and 136 bucks for the amp and 5 hours time. Money and time well spent.

I just swapped out my stock speakers on my 2011 Vaquero with some Polk DB521's also. My initial reaction was that the volume sounded lower, but there was something that sounded more pleasing to my ear. I -think- I'm hearing more of the Bass. In fact, I think the volume was sounding lower because I'm not getting as much Treble. So, I went into the amp settings. I turned "Tone Control" from "Auto" to "Normal" and cranked the Treble up. Noticeable difference. Currently I have the Treble turned all the way up, and the Bass set for 2 or 3. I'm still likely going to investigate other amps, but I'm wondering if anybody else has noticed this as well?

That is exactly where My settings ended up after install. These do produce a little bass but not able to pull it out due to the tiny enclosures. This is why I don't feel the need for an amp. If I were planning a big sub in the trunk or bags then I would do the amp. Got more sound than I really need just the way it is now.

Thanks for all the replies. Still trying to decide which speaker to go with. I was walking through my local Wally World and happen to see these speakers. http://www.scosche.com/hd-speakers-5-25-set $30.00 for the pair. Figured if I didn't like them I could take them back. They appear to be well made and should fit with no issues. I connected one of the Scosche speakers and one of the stock speakers. The stock speaker was sooo much louder than the Sosche. That surprised me. I had read that 3-way speakers would be louder than 2-way. I read on a couple of other posts where similar things happened. Is the stock head unit not putting out enough power to drive them like they need should? Frank

kawasaki vulcan 1700 voyager rear speakers

Most likely the reason the speaker is lower in volume is because they are not efficient speakers. They just suck up the power the amp is putting out or the impeadence is a wrong match. One other reason is they may not be of the better quality speaker. Your sound is as good as the speakers and amp.

kawasaki vulcan 1700 voyager rear speakers

hi guys, I just thought i'd add my 2 cents. I went with the Infinity Reference 5032cf 5.25-Inch, 135-Watt High Performance Two-Way Loudspeaker (Pair) on my vaquero. 67.95 on amazon and well worth it. no amp needed and it sounds great. got the bass at 4 and treble at 6 , I feel you cant do any better with only 2 speakers and at 5 1/4 size. when you go to 20 on the volume its really loud. I usually ride with it around 13 .. hope this helps you.. have a safe ride.

kawasaki vulcan 1700 voyager rear speakers

jase: I just ordered a set of these speakers for my VV. Got them on Amazon for $55! Thanks for the tip! Did you set the tweeters at 0db or -3db on yours?

So with better quality speakers is the difference going to be noticed at volumes of 15 and up? No real difference at lower volumes? Frank

Well just pulled the trigger on 4 Polk Audio DB521's. I'm guessing the "sensitivity level/dB level" of the Scosche speaker was low causing the volume to be lower than the stock speaker. It is a 4 ohm speaker but I was not able to find the dB level listed any where. The Polk DB521's are rated at 93dB making them one of the highest I could find. Anyone know what the dB level is for the stock speakers? Hoping they improve the sound for me like they have for others. Thanks for the feedback. Frank

Lunatic/Shep, Did either of you have issues with using the stock speaker wires? When I installed the Scosche speaker the terminals on the speaker were smaller than stock and the stock wire did not fit well. Frank

The terminals are a little bigger than the spades on the polks as they most likely were on the scosches. Nothing that a little tweak with needle nose pliers could not help. Snapped on fairly tight after. I have not rode a lot, and don't know if these will vibrate off. If they do I will put a better solution on them. The 93 decibels at 1 watt is why I went with the polks also. Not sure what stock was. Just know that the polks will take all the volume we can give them and they don't distort like stockers did.

I'm running Polk DB521s. Also have a Rockford Fosgate PBR300X4 300 watt amp on mine. It ROCKS!!!

I ended up pulling the trigger and ordering some Power Pucks, being the lazy bastard that I am. I'll post some feedback on how they work out. Should have asked RacNRay if he's still happy with his...

Brucerzx14, How big of a PIA is it to install an amp? Doubt I will go that route but just curious. Frank

Not a bad job. I'm into electronics so for me a piece of cake. I made it plug-n-play so if I ever sell the Voyager, I can remove the amp quickly and restore the system back to original.

I believe golfnut has installed several sets of speakers and finally settled on the current ones. He pitched a few day old set of expensive ones because they sucked.... and couldn't return them.... Going down the road behind him I can hear his every now and the.....

Speaker Choice I too am ready to install a RF PBR300X4, but the audio shop recommends Kickers (I was thinking Polk or RF). Any Kicker users out there to give me a feel. Which ever I use it will be marine grade.

Well I received the 4 Polk Audio DB521's today. Installed one in the front fairing and left one stock. The stock speaker is louder thank the Polk at the same volume. Installed the 2nd Polk in the front and left the 2 stock rear speakers in. Again, the stock speakers are louder than the Polk's. Installed the the 2 Polk's in the rear. I think the Polk's clarity is better but the stocks are louder at the same volume. I was not able to take her for a ride to see what they sound like on the road. However, i normally ride with the volume between 12-14 and I believe I will need to have it at 18+ to get the same volume. Kinda disappointed at this point. Might need an amp to get the most out of them and didn't want to go that route. Frank Frank

Thanks - those are the Reference series speakers.

Brucerzx14, If I go that route might want to pick your brain. I would want to do plug and play for the same reason. Did you put any type of insulation/heat barrier above the amp? Is it needed? Frank

Combat, I didn't put any heat barrier above mine. Hasn't been an issue for a long time. There are some out there if you're concerned about it.

First ride with the new Polk Audio DB521's was better than I expected. At the same volume level the stock speakers are definitely louder. However the DB521s have better sound quality. I adjusted the treble and base as recommended by Lunatic. I also adjusted the fade front/rear as I could hear the rear speakers better. Riding this weekend so I/we will have a better evaluation. Frank

I got a chance to mess around with the Power Pucks this weekend. Pretty easy to install. Made a huge, huge difference. Wouldn't you know it though, one of the Power Pucks was DOA. *Sigh*.

I'm trying to figure out if a 6-1/2" speaker will fit with the use of an adaptor ring. Any of you audio guys have any feedback? Here is a 6-1/4" Infinify that is very effecient (95db) and the low in is 10hz lower than the eqivelent 5-1/4" speaker. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_60695_Infinity-Kappa-62.11I.html

I'm liking the DB521's better and better. Quality and clarity of sound is much better than stock. Better half can definitely tell the difference in sound quality. They are also marine certified which is a plus. Frank

So, I've been reading through the posts here, trying to figure out the best way to upgrade my stock system while managing the cost. I've narrowed it down to two choices. 1. Just upgrade the speakers. Here is the Infinity Reference set at Amazon, currently $75: http://amzn.com/B002BZE36E 2. Purchase a Power Puck + Speakers combo for $307: http://www.bikertrends.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=29251 That is a $232 difference between option 1 and option 2. I guess my question is, will I see $232 worth of improvement in loudness and quality if I spring for option 2? Thanks. 3P

I can't speak for the power pucks, but I have the Infinity speakers you are considering. I'm very pleased with them with no amplification. I can crank the music up considerably louder without distortion than I could with the stock speakers. They also allowed be to turn my bass up on the receiver from 2 to 8. Why don't you just start with the speakers. You can always add the power pucks later if you are not satisfied.

I recently installed the Power Pucks along with a pair of Polk marine speakers. The Power Pucks make a huge difference. I do need to take the time to tweak the Boost/Tone/Gain settings (Haven't had the time, in the middle of moving). You can't ask for better customer service from the manufacturer. I bought my power pucks on ebay. One came DOA. Manufacturer not only honored the warranty without question, but I had it back within a week. So, if you're looking for an insanely easy to install amp, I'd say the power pucks are it.

Yes... Simple four screw removal of the cover, then four screws on the speaker. The connectors on the Infinity speakers are slightly larger than the connectors on the stock speakers. I used a pair of pliers to clamp the female connector down on the male to make sure it doesn't slip off. The speakers come with a foam strip that you can place on the edge of the speaker to insulate them and keep them from vibrating. I would recommend using it. The instructions show you where to place it.

Lol, thanks guys.

I also replaced the stock speakers on my 2011 Vaquero with a pair of Infinity speakers, to make sure the wiring connections where secure, I did take some needle noise pliers to work on the connections, but also went to my local hardware store and bought some liquid solder to secure the connections, too. Think the Infinity speakers are a good upgrade over the stock speakers. .

Have noticed that most all here have upgraded thier speakers 1st, then add amp. Has anyone added an amp to the stock speakers, and did adding the rear speakers make much of a difference. At the price of them, I would hope for a considerable improvement, is this so?

kawasaki vulcan 1700 voyager rear speakers

I have my bass set at 2, mid at 2, and treble at 7. Have had it up to 17 on the volume, but once I get past about 10 it seems to sound flat like it doesnt have the power to drive the lows or highs very well. Dout it makes any difference but also have the fader set all the way front hoping it may help. I know some car stereos Ive had it helps, but didnt seem to in this case.
