PANDIN LAKE (Day Tour): Your Complete DIY Travel Guide

Here is a comprehensive DIY travel guide to Pandin Lake in San Pablo City, Laguna! It is the twin sister of Lake Yambo.

Imagine sitting in a place so serene and mystical that you feel like traveling back in time. There’s just pure bliss and simplicity. No bustles and hustles. You just sit there – relishing the gifts of nature: the rustling trees, the gentle palms, the verdant hills, the diverse flora, and most of all, a stunning body of water that’s so magical. That’s exactly how I felt when I visited Pandin Lake.

If you’re interested to visit there as well, read on as I share moments of our journey with my best friend to this unique destination. It’s a perfect getaway especially if you want to escape urban complications and dramas.

How to Get to Pandin Lake (Our DIY Itinerary)

lake pandin day tour

Our primary purpose in visiting San Pablo in Laguna was to meet with the owner of Mameng Derry Coffee Farm. But we knew that could happen in just a couple of hours so we planned on taking a side trip to Pandin Lake which is near the farm.

From the Buendia Bus Terminal Station in Pasay City, we took a 3 PM DLBT Bus trip bound for Lucena, Quezon City which also happens to pass by San Pablo, Laguna. We paid Php 150 each for the fare. It took the bus two hours and 30 minutes to reach San Pablo and there, we dropped by SM.

There, Kuya Derry of Mameng Coffee Farm fetched us and took us to our accommodation for the night. We spent Php 650 for a single-bed and un-airconditioned room with a private bathroom.

At around 7 am the following morning, we hopped on a jeep bound for the farm. There, Kuya Derry spent more than an hour teaching us how he manages his coffee farm and the best practices he has been applying through the years. It was a learning-filled immersion.

At around 10:00 am, we bid farewell to Kuya Derry and proceeded to the national highway where we waited for a jeep bound for Lake Pandin. If you’re coming from San Pablo City Center, the trip takes 15-20 minutes to reach the jump-off point and the fare is Php 50. Don’t forget to tell the driver to drop you off if it’s your first time.

From the jump-off point, we followed a concrete road that led straight to Pandin Lake.

1. To get to Pandin Lake, ride on a DLTB Bus bound for Lucena, Quezon City and tell the driver to drop you off SM in San Pablo, Laguna. From SM, take a jeep or tricycle bound to the jeepney station of Ilog or Liwi. Each jeep departs whenever filled to capacity. Don’t forget to tell the driver to drop you off at the jump-off point to Pandin Lake. Travel time takes 15-20 minutes while the fare is Php 50.

2. From the jump-off point, hike to Pandin Lake following a concrete road. That takes 20-30 minutes. Upon arrival, proceed to the registration booth to pay the corresponding fees. That is one way for you to help the local economy.

Behold the Mystical Pandin Lake

A view of Lake Pandin from a bamboo raft

Seeing Lake Pandin for the first time was jaw-dropping. At first glance, it looked like a huge bowl of water surrounded by green vegetation. I could tell from the dark green color that the lake is very deep. It seemed as if a giant creature hides underneath. That’s just my imagination though.

The lake was closed for tourism when we arrived due to COVID-19 restrictions but we were allowed to stay for the time being. We were able to get to know a young local who is also a guide. He led us to a good spot for swimming and spent more than 30 minutes enjoying the cool waters of Lake Pandin.

Pandin Lake is one of the most pristine lakes in San Pablo City, Laguna

The guy was a very articulate one and he passionately shared stories about the lake and his interactions with visitors. I can sense that he really loves his town and is willing to campaign for the protection of their resources for the benefit of their community.

Anyways, how it felt rejuvenating swimming on the crystal-clear waters while seeing the rustic views of the surrounding green vegetation. This vegetation thrives with different flora species including coconut, Narra, orchids, vines, wildflowers, and many other kinds of trees. Surely, there are also various wildlife species inhabiting the forests.

Heck, we even saw a migratory bird (looked like a white heron) hovering around. The presence of both native and migratory birds indicates that the lake is pristine and thriving with marine life.

As our young guide and a newfound friend namely Chrisley told us, the lake teems with freshwater shrimps, tilapia, catfish, and many more. He shared that the locals have been defending the lake from exploitation attempts by outsiders. That is one big reason why until today, the lake remains one of the cleanest not just in Laguna but in the whole country.

REMINDER: All non-locals are required to wear a life vest before swimming.

What Else to Do?

A verdant vegetation surrounds Pandin Lake

Aside from swimming, there are other activities that visitors or tourists can do in Lake Pandin. Here are other activities to try:

lake pandin day tour

Bamboo rafting is the main activity in Lake Pandin.

For a modest rate of Php 550 per person, you can enjoy a two-hour tour of the lake with guides. The guide will take you to a designated swimming site with a swing! For safety, you will have to wear a life vest since the lake is very deep, up to 180 feet at its center! The fee also comes with free foods typically consisting of grilled fish or ginataan (cooked in coconut milk).

If you’re sort of short of budget, you can request the raft operators to exclude the food so you’ll be discounted at Php 300 per person. That’s what we did since we lacked cash.

Visitors can bring tents so they can camp for the night. There are designated camping sites around the lake. For a better view, visitors can camp on a hill between Lake Pandin and Lake Yambo. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch a stunning view of the sunrise.

3. Hiking to Lake Yambo

Lake Yambo view

Visitors who rent a raft can glimpse Lake Yambo on the other side. There’s only a little bit of trekking on lush forests. From the end of Lake Pandin, it took us 10 minutes to reach the viewpoint of Lake Yambo.

We’ll discuss more of these in detail when we come back for another mesmerizing experience.

Rants and Musings on Lake Pandin

lake pandin day tour

Lake Pandin is truly a paradise to behold. It’s fascinating to know that just near the bustling city of San Pablo is a tropical haven like no other. Its pristine beauty, thus, deserves serious attention not only from the surrounding community but also from the local authorities.

It’s saddening to know that there are some external forces or entities trying to exploit the lake for their benefit. Thankfully, the locals who are like the guardians of the lake have been fighting for its preservation.

To solidify their commitment, they organized a local-based council to handle the sustainable management of the lake through community-based and eco-tourism. That is why I would love to keep coming back to Lake Pandin not only to enjoy the beauty but also to help in the local economy and advocacy.

Mount Mabilog summit

Day Trip to Mount Mabilog and Pandin Lake (San Pablo, Laguna)

Laguna offers a lot of day trip activities for those itching to go away for the weekend. One of these is Mount Mabilog and Pandin Lake in San Pablo, Laguna.

Here’s my experience doing a solo day trip in these attractions! I’ve also included a guide on how to get here too.

Trek to Mount Mabilog

Lunch at pandin lake, how to get here, 1 day itinerary to mount mabilog and pandin lake, budget and expenses, things to know before you go, what to read next:, solo day trip to laguna.

I went here solo sometime in July 2016. I’d always wanted to do this for a long time, but I could never make myself get up before 7 in the morning. Since the last weeks had delivered overcast skies and thunderstorms, I itched to get a little time off from the sun and bask under a happy sun.

From Manila, I commuted to San Pablo, Laguna. I arrived in Pandin Lake and informed the local staff that I have a reservation for lake rafting but would like to trek Mount Mabilog first.

Mount Mabilog is a forested mountain standing next to Pandin Lake. It’s considered an easy climb in terms of difficulty.

From the jump-off area in Pandin Lake, it takes 1.5-2 hours to trek to the summit via the Sto. Angel’s trail and another 1 hour going back. Atop the summit, one can see 2 of  the 7 crater lakes in San Pablo : Yambo and Palakpakin .

It was my first time to hike alone. If you’re interested in doing this as well, make sure to be prepared and read up on some useful hiking tips for solo female travelers .

The climb was easy enough. However, I made the obvious mistake of not getting a good night’s sleep the night before or having proper breakfast that morning. I underestimated the climb and overestimated my body’s capacity to endure without sufficient prep. I tired easily. I also felt light headed and at one point wanted to throw up. My guide harvested some leaves from a nearby tree called Litlit, crumpled it and gave it for me to smell. He says it will help with the dizziness and nausea. It worked like a miracle and I was surprised when after a few minutes I was already good to go.

Yambo Lake in San Pablo, Laguna

After some more laborious minutes, we’ve reached the summit. It’s a small grassy clearing, with a view of Yambo Lake and Palakpakin Lake. Yambo Lake looks like a vast green mirror, while Palakpakin Lake is muddy.

I dropped my light backpack on the ground and laid on my back.

Mount Mabilog summit view

There were only two other groups in Mount Mabilog during my climb. It’s astonishing that there weren’t many more visiting mountaineers, unlike in other mountains near Manila, such as Batulao, Pico de Loro and the recently opened Mount Maynoba, where groups of mountaineers congest in the summit and form queues in the trail.

Perhaps it’s because of the relatively ordinary view in the summit of Mount Mabilog: there are no sea of clouds or mountain ridges in the distance.

However, I liked it here. It wasn’t crowded and Yambo Lake looked serene and beautiful. Beyond that I could see the Yin-Yang mountains: Mount Cristobal which is also called the Devil’s Mountain and Mount Banahaw which is considered a holy mountain.

Mount Mabilog summit

I played with a cat that was prowling in the area, and after about 30 minutes of rest, I told my guide I was ready to go back.

When we arrived back at the lakeside, many of the locals looked up and there was a chorus of cheerful greeting, “Oh look she’s back!” “The woman who climbed alone!” I wanted to hug them all.

Of course, after that successful solo climb, I had to reward myself by staying at Pandin Lake. There are packages offered here that includes a meal and boat tour to the lake.

As above, the lake area was quiet too. There were only a handful of other groups even though it was lunch time.

I enjoyed my meal on a cottage. It was simple yet flavorful, with generous servings. There were two cups of rice, sauteed small shrimps, fresh fern salad and grilled tilapia and pork chop. I loved the shrimps the best and wish I knew how they cooked it.

Pandin Lake - floating cottage

Afterwards, we rafted to the other side of the lake. Pandin Lake is about 180 feet deep, with fishes living on the deeper parts of the lake.

I spent a good two hours swimming in the deep-green water. Unlike beaches, it’s difficult to see anything underwater when swimming in lakes such as this one. I kept my lifevest on the whole time. In one spot, there are tree swings which are used for photo-ops or diving to the water below.

Pandin Lake - bamboo raft

In another is a grotto beside a drinkable spring. The boatman said it has been there way before they came into the lake.

I enjoyed my solo trip to Mount Mabilog and Pandin Lake. Personally, I think this attraction deserves more attention. There are higher, more majestic mountains compared to Mount Mabilog but this one offers seclusion and quiet, which is rare in mountain destinations near Manila. Similarly, Pandin Lake seems not only a fun activity destination, but a healing point for those who’d like to find their way back to nature even for a day.

From Manila, it takes about 3 hours to get here. Pandin Lake is also the jump-off point to Mount Mabilog.

Here are the commute directions:

  • From Buendia or Cubao, ride a bus bound for Lucena (P115-120). Get off at SM San Pablo. From there, ride a tricycle to bayan (P20 per person). Then ride another jeep bound for Ilog and let the driver know you are going to Pandin Lake (P13).
  • Alight in the highway. From there, there are local kids willing to guide you to Pandin Lake (P50 per guide).

Here’s a sample itinerary for a day trip to Mount Mabilog and Pandin Lake.

6:30AM – 9:30AM Commute from Manila to Pandin Lake 9:30AM Start trek to Mount Mabilog 11:30AM ETA summit 12:00NN – 1:00PM Trek back to Pandin Lake 1:00 – 1:30PM Lunch 1:30 – 3:30PM Lake rafting 3:30 – 4:00PM Wash up 4:00 – 7:00PM Travel back to Manila

If you are bringing a car, it’s easy to include other side trips such as Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery and Bunga Falls .

Here are the current rates ( Updated as of 2020 ):

  • Mount Mabilog guide fee: P350
  • Lake Pandin rafting and lunch : P400 per person. Food includes grilled tilapia, liempo, okoy rice, pako salad, and bottled water. Optional – fresh coconut: P25.

The tour in Pandin Lake is currently limited to 2 hours. Additional P100 for 1 hour extension of bamboo raft use. There are also package rates for Pandin Lake for groups — rate depends on the number of pax.

If you also want to visit the nearby Bunga Falls, you can charter a tricycle for P200 one way.

If you’re solo, prepare a budget of about P1500 for a one-day Pandin Lake itinerary. If you’re in a group of 2, a safe budget would be P1100 per person .

  • Lifevest is provided for free.
  • Camping is allowed around the lake. If you are trekking to Mount Mabilog, you may also camp in the summit.
  • Walk-ins are welcome. However, it’s best to reserve in advance during weekends and peak season to avoid the long queue.

Hi, you recently updated this post so I am guessing you have updated info about hiking in Mt. Mabilog. The other blog I saw (posted in 2020) said that the trail leading to Mt. Mabilog from Pandin Lake is closed.

Katherine Cortes

Hi Des, I just asked Ms. Tina if the trail is open and she said yes. Will update this post if I get other updates. 🙂

Great, thanks Katherine!

Hi Sir, thank you po for sharing the contacts, we’re planning an overnight climb in Mt. Mabilog 🙂

Love. Eat. Wander.

We’ve been here last weekend and we loved the place!

That’s great to hear! 🙂

Hallo Mark. 🙂 There’s a number of the contact person at the end of the post.

Sabi nga, try and try until you succeed. It may be an overused statement but it is indeed still true! You pushed yourself really hard for that climb and glad you got a guide who’s very helpful all the way, offering you a remedy with your uneasiness during the trip. People like that are a blessing. This place as well.

Wow! It looks beautiful! I learned something new from your post today. It’s good that you felt better after he gave you those leaves to smell. I also like it when the places I visit are less crowded.

i have wanted to go to the Seven Lakes for forever! But i havent heard yet of Mt Mabilog. I’m not really good with mountains too so I will definitely heed all your advice when I reach Pandin and Mabilog. Thanks for sharing!

the trek is worth the climb! With this lake padin after all the struggle, an hour or two of trekking won’t be a problem at all! It’s just that, I can’t dare going on a trip alone. Ha! I am not just into it, maybe. But nonetheless, I am sure that you really enjoyed your stay here.

I love your picture of Lake Yambo. Beautiful. Sounds like a nice but tiring walk :). And great that it wasn’t too crowded. Great for making pictures! Lake Pandin is lovely as well. I totally love the swings!! I hope as wrll that it will stay clean and quiet.

Milton Coyne

wow.. this seems like a great adventure for me… hows the Mount Mabilog? I mean is it ideal for someone who has never been into hiking? I love to try hiking soon… we were about to hike Pico de Loro but it’s too late since the Mount Palay Palay will be on a temporary closure daw.. this must be a great alternative…

I haven’t been to Pico de Loro but considering the said difficulty of its monolith I’m guessing Mount Mabilog is a much easier climb. Though if you want better views I’m recommending Mount Batulao.

Alyssa tuangco

I haven’t been to Mt. Mabilog yet but I remembrr going to Lake Pandin back in High school and from one of my classes in college. The lake was magical and clean.

Pandin Lake, San Pablo: A P360 Adventure (Itinerary & Travel Guide)

Cool water and picturesque landscape accurately describe Pandin Lake. Hidden in the city of San Pablo, the lake is a great place to relax and unwind.

Belonging to the famous seven lakes of the city, it has an area of 20 hectares and an average depth of 63m.

What was supposed to be a day of wandering around Sampaloc Lake turned into an adventure of a lifetime! With no extra clothes, we swam and hoped the sun would dry our clothes on the way back.

We passed by a cow ranch on the way to the San Pablo Laguna lake. The place was so wide. I could imagine myself running around the area, screaming my lungs out! Haha. Pretty crazy, but I don’t know if the owner would allow it. There were around a hundred cows inside. They’d probably run after me.

Pandin Lake

By the time we reached Pandin Lake, there were a lot of other tourists. We had to fall in line.

Pandin

One boat raft accommodates eight people; there were 5 of us, so another group had to be added. Each of us paid 360 pesos for the ride and food.

Pandin

Lunch consists of tilapia, pako salad, shrimps, and rice. The pako salad is to die for! The best that I have tasted so far. The package also includes bottled water. An additional buko can be bought for 25 pesos.

Pandin

Since the lake was packed with other people waiting in line, we were given a 2-hour time limit. Bummer, I know.

Anyways, the water was cold, clean, and refreshing. However, swimming in it was a bit unnerving since you could not see anything underneath. We were asked not to swim too far from our raft.

Another great addition to the area is a swing. It can take two people at a time since it’s pretty wide, but I had a hard time using it. The swing was placed a little bit high.

Termed as Pandin’s twin, Yambo / Yambu is located right beside Pandin Lake. A sneak peek of the lake requires a three-minute trek to the viewpoint.

How To Get There

  • Ride a bus from Buendia or Cubao to Lucena (127 pesos)
  • Ask the bus driver to drop you off SM San Pablo
  • Ride a jeep bound to simbahan or bayan (7 pesos)
  • From here, ride another jeep heading to Ilog (7 pesos)

Day Tour: Discover the Hidden Beauty of Lake Pandin

Hello there!

Last weekend, I have just witnessed the hidden beauty of Lake Pandin in San Pablo Laguna. It was only a 3 hour drive from the city and a perfect location if you want to just relax, unwind, take a break and escape from the hustle and bustle of the City. If you also miss the smell of the province and wants to be closer to nature again but do not want to travel longer, well\, gotta consider this place and prepare to be drawn by this lake’s inner beauty. This place reminds me of the “Tabing Ilog ” days. So much feels!

How did we plan the trip? Please read along.

062

Before we move on, please allow me to tell you a short back story on how we ended up here. A few weeks prior to our trip, our team (HR, yes, I work in HR) was so busy in choosing the best place we can spend our vacation at as a group. We thought of beaches in Zambales,  Quezon, and Baler and since then, we’ve included this topic (our vacation) in our weekly meeting until we’ve decided to go to Lake Pandin. It wasn’t included in the list that we originally had, not until one of our team mate made the suggestion. We did some research on the place and fell in love instantly. Finally we’ve made a decision.

Contact Person :

Aling Tina 09079952983 (I suggest contacting her in advance for reservation.) Ask which package is suited for your group.

We opt for the Big Bamboo Raft with Food Package.

The package already includes Rice, “inihaw na tilapia”, “ginataang hipon”, “ensaladang pako”, banana, and bottled water. You may add halo-halo for 25 pesos/person or buko juice for 30 pesos/person.

Php 360/person or Php 3,600 good for 10 person (Group package should at least have a minimum of 10 person, otherwise, your group will have to pay for other remaining headcounts)

In our case, we were already 13 in the team so we just had to pay for additional fees.

5:00 AM Meet-up

6:00 AM Departure

9:00 AM Arrival – San Pablo  – City Proper

9:30 AM Lake Pandin

10:00 AM Hiking to the Lake (2hours)

2:00 PM Optional: Sampaloc Lake

4:00 PM Going back to MNL

7:00 PM Arrival – MNL

How did we get there : By Private Vehicle (Approx 2-3 hours travel)

1

From Taguig City we head to SLEX and exit on Calamba, Laguna. From there we head straight to San Pablo, Laguna.

We arrived there around 10am (No stop overs). There was a parking space available for us when we arrived. From the parking lot, we started to trek with our backpacks on approximately 20 minutes plus additional minutes stop overs to take pictures before we finally reached the Lake.

057

When we got there, there were already few t ourists around. I’ve learned from my friend that this place gets fully booked at some days so better reserve your slot ahead of time.

We couldn’t stop taking pictures of the place. The place was WOW!

Few minutes later, we were asked to get ready and change to our swimming clothes for the tour. Good thing there is a men and women comfort room available for us to change clothes but had to pay 10/person.

The tour was only good for 2 hours and that tour you’ll get to enjoy the view while the bamboo raft is being brought from one end of the lake to the other. You may enjoy the food while the raft is moving. I guess you may also bring your own food for feast.

076

I just couldn’t stop taking pictures of this place because I don’t want miss a single thing. Everyone was amazed and enjoyed the view and fresh air.

When we have reached our stop, we started eating and swimming. I also like the fact that there are no utensils in the raft so we have no other choice but to eat with o ur hands. Probinsya feels!

The water was so tempting, the air is so fresh, and the view was amazing! I love that everywhere you look is lush green which makes it more picture perfect. I know that the locals there are doing their best to preserve the area and maintain its cleanliness. A job well done!

171

Two hours was not enough to enjoy the lake but every one of us made every second worthwhile. This place definitely deserves to be featured in my blog. Thumbs up!

That’s about it. I’ma leave you guys now and let all the photos do the talking.

088

The overall experience was superb! The view and the place was amazing! The locals are very kind. I will definitely go back and bring my Family or friends with me next time.

Do you have Lake Pandin stories to share? Please share them by posting a comment down below. I would love to read them! See you on my next travel post.

Nature trip less the crowd? PANDIN AND YAMBO LAKES might just be your needed dose of peace and quiet

S an Pablo  is another developing city in the province that doesn’t seem to run out of unexpected delights, Laguna. Slowly, this city  is paving its way to urbanization with it seeming a little too busy which is easily observed through its streets thronged by vehicles, markets reverberating its usual grind and locals getting on with their daily routines. Despite the threat of it completely evolving to be one of this world’s modern cities, San Pablo’s charming and rustic character is still very evident. Cool refreshing air, century old infrastructures and locals traditional ways are some of the things that make this city very endearing. To add to its already remarkable resume are multiple peaks towering in the outskirts and the 7 jewels of a lake which are all breathtakingly beautiful. Allow me to introduce you two of the most off-beaten and pristine of the 7, the Twin Lakes of Pandin and Yambo.

PANDIN AND YAMBO LAKES COMPARED

Pandin Lake is a rarely spoken gem lying unperturbed beneath the luscious forest in Brgy. Sto Angel. Sitting among locals’ simplistic houses, who would ever think that a beauty such as that of Pandin Lake can be found a few minute walk from the busy highway with only a tiny dirt road enough for motorcycles leading hopeful visitors to this precious jewel. Surely, Pandin Lake knows how to take one’s breath away with its cool teal waters abounded by lush vegetation looking pretty enchanting from afar. This jewel effortlessly exudes grace and opulence common only to some of nature’s unspoiled creations. Afloat its pristine waters are bamboo rafts while the crisp laughter of local children playfully having a much needed swim, the chirping of the birds and some hearty conversations around are the only sounds you would hear like its own natural melody played in repeat.

HOW TO GET THERE?

  • From Manila  – Ride a Jac Liner or any bus bound for Lucena in Buendia/Kamias Bus Terminals. Alight the bus in SM San Pablo then ride a jeepney to San Pablo proper. Walk from the final stop inside the public market to 7/11 located near the church and ride a jeepney going to Ilog. Alight in Brgy. Sto. Angel, just in front of the entrance to Pandin Lake which you would easily notice as it bears the sign with PANDIN LAKE written in bold and huge letters and the Mayor’s face sitting next to it. Choose whether to get a local guide (not necessary unless you want to give a local child his baon  come school day ) or simply ask them for directions to Pandin Lake and walk on your own (very doable).
  • From Alabang – Ride a bus bound for Lucena and alight in SM San Pablo. Fare is P98. Follow remaining steps above.
  • From San Pedro, Biñan and Sta. Rosa – Go to Balibago complex. Ride a van to going to San Pablo City. Fare is P75. Follow remaining directions above when you get to San Pablo.
  • From Calamba, Los Baños, & Calauan – Ride a jeep or a bus going to Sta Cruz. Once in Sta Cruz, ride a passenger jeep to San Pablo. Follow remaining directions above.
  • From Dasma and Pala-Pala – Ride a van going to Sta. Cruz. Once in Sta Cruz, ride a passenger jeep going to San Pablo. Follow remaining directions above.

Yambo Lake sits in between the municipalities of San Pablo and Nagcarlan and its name may sound a little masculine to the ear but this magnificent creation bears an elegance of a Queen. Unlike Pandin Lake, getting to Yambo lake can be a bit of a task yet another rewarding journey with a delightful promise at the end. The quest to behold the beauty of this jewel may be long and winded but you’ll see it’s worth it. Cool, pristine waters reflecting the lush greens that surrounds it is this jewel’s breathtaking reward. The tranquility it offers is unmatched. To some a trip to this lake may be a bit boring but to those who value serenity and being in harmony with nature, Yambo Lake is a priceless treasure.

HOW TO GET THERE

  • From Manila  – Ride a Jac Liner or any bus bound for Lucena in Buendia/Kamias Bus Terminals. Alight the bus in SM San Pablo then ride a jeepney to San Pablo proper. Walk from the final stop inside the public market to the street near the Fire Station across 7/11. Ride a Jeep to Narcarlan. Alight in the terminal and ride a tricycle going to Brgy. Sulsuguin.
  • From Alabang – Ride a bus bound for Lucena and alight in SM San Pablo. Fare is P98. Follow the remaining steps above.
  • From Calamba, Los Baños, & Calauan – Ride a jeep or a bus going to Sta Cruz. Once in Sta Cruz, ride a passenger jeep to Nagcarlan. Follow remaining directions above.

SAMPLE BUDGET, CONTACT INFO, FEES & ITINERARY

Other info you might need to know about pandin and yambo lakes.

  • The trail leading to Yambo Lake from Pandin is already closed. So those who intend to trek to Yambo Lake or Mt. Mabilog will have to take the jeepney bound for Nagcarlan and a tricycle going to Yambo Lake. Another option if you only want to see Yambo Lake is to rent a bamboo raft which will take you to the end of Pandin Lake where lies a trail to Yambo Lake. The trek may take 10 minutes.
  • If you plan to sidetrip to Bunga Falls from Yambo Lake, you can ride a tricycle which is for P150 good for 5 pax.
  • Trekking Mt. Mabilog is yet another exciting adventure that you can have for a guide fee of P300.

There you go, folks. If you need further info just drop them on the comments box below or straight to my inbox by clicking that little button on the right corner of your screen. I would love to answer any of your queries but please do your reading first. Ayt. Happy travels everyone. Ciao. 🙂

Hello. I think the same lang. if my difference siguro nasa 10-15 pesos lang.

I think pwde nman pero babayad prin ng rent ng cottage

For overnight camp, i suggest you stay at Yambo Lake. Mas malapad yung camping area.

Hi Ms. Keza, limited time ba sa padin lake. sample punta and mag-rent na kami ng balsa ng morning then pwede kami until hapon don? thanks in advance 🙂

Sorry for the late response. Yung balsa is may time limit if maraming guests. I guess it’s 3-4hrs at most. Pero pagwala masyado tao, you can stay as long as you want😊

Hi. Kung may dala po kaming car at sa lake pandin kami nag trek, pano kaya kami babalik kung nag-raft kami to lake yambo? tanx

Not necessary Meg.

Open po kaya ng january 1 yung lake, we are planning to stay over night.thanks in advance sa sagot

Can we go fishing here? Do you have rate for fishing activities?

Hi! How long was your tour with the raft?

It was about an hour or two.

Is it necessary to do a reservation or not?

Hi. Reservation is not necessary. 😊

Thanks. Coz I’m afraid we wouldn’t have any rafts left when we go without reservation. 👍

how about the reservation mam ? if 4 kami how much yung cost for one day thanks?

Hi Herson. The cost is up there on the blog. Just do the math if there’s gonna be the 4 of you. Cost really depends on what you gonna do when you get there. 😊

Hi. Pwede kaya kung kotse or van yung sasakyan? Or pang motorcycle lang at tricycle talaga? May senior citizens kasi kaming kasama kaya mahirap na kung magte-trek pa sila. Thank you. 🙂

Hi. For Pandin Lake di kayang pasukin ng sasakyan. May designated parking area dun and from the parking area 10-15 minutes na lakad. Di naman masyadong paahon yung dadaanan. Sa Yambo Lake kayang kaya pasukin ng kotse.. Try to contact the number on the post if you need further instructions sa Pandin Lake. 😊

hello po.. pwede po ba puntahan lahat yan ng isang araw lang? thank you

Yes po kaya po ng 1 day iexplore ang dalawang lakes.

Hi. Do we need to book before we go or they are accepting walk in travelers? And for the food, 180 pesos for all you’ve mention above?

Hi Vanessa. No need for booking.

Hi Herson. there’s no such cottage there. What they have are open cottages tpos merong public CR. If you wanna stay overnight, pwede ha magcamp using your tent.

How much po bayad kpg overnight? How much bayad kpg nag tent kami? Safe naman siguro yung place para mag camping?

Hi. You’ve mention that the trail leading to Yambo Lake from Pandin is already closed so the only option for us to reach Mt. Mabilog is by riding tricycle? 🙂

Hi Pauline. Yes. You will need to ride a jeepney and a tricycle to get to the jumpoff. Or another option is to ride a raft to the trail leading to Yambo Lake and then take the trail that goes to the jumpoff or registration. 🙂

ma’am ask lang kung may pwede parkingan ng motor malapit sa yambo lake…pa single na motor ko lang kasi balak pumunta and eto po ba yung mga updated fees?? salamat po 🙂

Hi Roderick.

Yup may parking area naman for motocycles dun. And yes updated po yung fees jan. 🙂

last nalang po Sementado naman po yung daan ma’am or maputik? SALAMAT 🙂

Hi. Yes concrete po ang kalsada all the way to the lake.

Hi. Magkano rate sa Pandin pag mag-isa lang with food? I wanna go there alone. Thank you

Hi Jasper. Food is P180. If you wanna go on rafting, rate is P1200 inc of food.

Ask ko lang po kung meron ba parking lot sa pandin lake? May charge po ba yun? Salamat

Hi John. Yes may parking space po dun. Wala nman pong charge. Courtesy token lang para mga lokals. 😊

Hi ate.plan po namin punta nextweek.pwde po b mg camping or tent po overnight..my byad po? Thank u

Hi Jo Ann. Yes pwede magcamp and may additional fee po. try to contact na lang the numbers above for reservation and additional info. Have fun. 🙂

Hi Ms. Keza, pano kung 2 lang po kami how much po pag hindi big raft yung irrent? Yung good for 2 people lang po sana? Thank you

Hi Kaye. Yung small rafts is P200 I think. Wala yung table at roof. Bamboo raft lang talaga na 1 1/2 meter ang lapad. Wala din yung lunch na included.

pwede po bang maligo sa pandin lake? 🙂

Hi Carmi. Yes pwede po

Hello! Just want to ask if may entrance fee po sa Bunga Falls? How much po? and if my tour guide to Bunga falls magkano po? Thank you!

Hi Danie. Entrance is P10. No need for a guide. It’s an easy trek down and shouldn’t take you longer than 15 minutes.

Ask ko lang po regarding sa overnight? Pano po yun at magkano? Thanks

Hi Crish. 👆👆👆

Kaya po ba ng pregnant yung trek to Lake Pandin?

Hi May. Yes kaya nman po. Di nman po gaanong paahon at maiksi lang po yung trail papunta sa lake pandin

Hi. Plano naming pumunta sa Pandin lake sa November. Do we need to text the contact person for reservation? Baka kasi madaming tao and pagdating namin dun ay wala kaming mapala.

Hi. There’s actually no need for resservation pero kung gusto nyo makasiguro kasi madami na din pumupunta dun, magpareserve na lang kayo. number to contact is up there. 🙂

what if mag-isa lang. Solo traveller? magkano kaya ang est budget? thanks in advance.

Hi. Mejo mapapamahal ka if you are going to take the rafting sa lake. Take that out then pamasahe na lang iisipin mo which is less 500. 😘

Hi. What are other places to visit aside from the lake and the cemetery ? What time is the best time to go there? Is it easy for senior citizens to travel to? I’m also bringing kids ages 12-17, what activities are there for them. They both serve the same food for lunch? Thanks.

Hi Cathy. You can check Bunga Falls in Nagcarlan. It isnt too far away from Yambo lake. Yeah, it’s an easy trip kaya ng senior citizens. Activities for kids swimming and bamboo rafting. There’s a swing area in Pandin lake. Food. They serve the same for lunch and breakfast.

Lake Pandin: Discover the Smallest Lake in San Pablo Laguna

' src=

I’d visited this lake twice; the first time was with my blogger friends after our memorable staycation at Casa San Pablo Bed & Breakfast . It’s a good 15 to 20-minute walk, depending on your pace, going to the lake from the highway. We walked under the midday sun, hence the look of displeasure on everyone’s faces as we trod the dirt path. There are motorbikes that you can rent to get to the lake for PHP 50 (USD 1.00) per person. We only took this option going back to the main road.

Our efforts have not been in vain, the lake is beautiful.

lake-pandin-laguna-coffeehan (1)

There are activities that you can do on this lake, though I’m not sure if swimming is one of them as we didn’t see anyone doing so. Bamboo rafts lined the side of the lake, waiting for tourists to hire them for a cruise down the lake. You can ride these rafts anywhere between 180 to 600 pesos, depending on the package of your choice; you make take the bamboo raft ride with or without food.

My friends and I decided to relish in the view while enjoying our halo-halo and fresh coconut. We were allowed to sit inside one of the parked rafts.

Ganda! What I love best about Laguna, hindi masyadong malayo but it has a lot of hidden surprises for you.

Great photos and place! xox

http://www.flashforwards.blogspot.com

We should do a Seven Lakes tour sometime! 😉

As a citizen of Laguna, I want to thank you Marge for feature the beautiful wonders of our province. San Pablo City can be a monster when you visit the city (pollution, congested streets, dirt- all the children of modernization) but beyond all that chaos there's the real beauty of Laguna.

I've been to that place when I was a child. It's really nice to see photos of that place again. Ngayon ko lang din nalaman yung Casa San Pablo. It's very neat and cozy.

Reading this, parang ngayon ko lang narinig ang tungkol sa San Pablo lakes. Minsan talaga you should try looking at your own home province from a different angle and a different point of view para ma-appreciate mo ang iyong pinanggalingan.

Thanks again Marge!

This place looks awesome. I miss all the greens.

Nope. It's halo-halo 🙂

Ice cream ba yun? Grabe, that would really be perfect esp with the summer heat.

Have to visit this place one day:)

Sampaloc Lake pa lang ang napupuntahan ko jan : )

Seven Lakes of San Pablo in One Epic Day of Adventure

Seven Lakes of San Pablo

Let me tell you about my unforgettable road trip adventure to conquer all  Seven Lakes of San Pablo  in Laguna! We started our journey at PITX in Pasay City, a bunch of travel buddies united by our love for exploring. With Señor Byahero, Joseph, Manilakad JP and Pure, Nomadic Experiences Marky, SJ the heritage guide, and Johan our navigator/treasurer, we piled into our Isuzu SUV, ready to hit the road.

View of Lake Yambo at the foreground and Lake Pandin at the back.

To see all seven lakes, some side trips, and still have time to enjoy each spot, we strategized our route. First up were the legendary twin lakes, Yambo and Pandin, via Nagcarlan. We even squeezed in a visit to the spooky Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery for a taste of history.

Swinging at Lake Yambo

I was mesmerized by Lake Yambo with its vast grassy banks and clear turquoise waters. It was serene and looked perfect for a dip, though we opted for a fun bamboo raft tour instead. The tour took us across the lake for a refreshing swim and some swinging action on a rope swing – pure bliss! There’s also a short trail to peek at Lake Pandin’s beauty from the other side.

Lake Pandin

Lake Pandin

Speaking of Lake Pandin , this lake mirrored Yambo’s pristine charm, with more visitors due to its easier accessibility. Legend whispers of two ill-fated lovers, Yambo and Pandin, forever close but eternally separated by a strip of land – a truly touching story.

Lake Calibato

Lake Calibato

As the drizzle started to fall, we reached Lake Calibato . A short hike along a rocky path led us to this fascinating lake, a haven for birdwatchers. Despite the rain, I spotted a stunning indigo-banded kingfisher and flocks of egrets and herons – a birder’s paradise! The lake itself, shrouded in mist, had a mysterious vibe. Local lore speaks of a  diwata  (fairy) who transformed the valley into a lake out of anger – a cautionary tale about respecting nature.

Lake Palakpakin

Lake Palakpakin

Next stop: Lake Palakpakin . While the lake itself is used for fish cultivation, we found a viewpoint from a small bridge where a narrow river flowed. Legend has it that a mysterious red-haired lady used to wash her hair here with a giant fish. Intriguing!

Lake Mohicap

Lake Mojicap

Lake Mojicap awaited us next, with a beautiful garden as the entrance before descending 105 steps to the lake. The story here echoes Yambo and Pandin’s tale, but this time it’s a child named Munica who disobeys and gets swallowed by the earth, forming the lake. The tranquil environment, with mist evaporating from the placid water, was simply mesmerizing.

Lake Bunot

Leaving the legends behind for a bit, we reached Lake Bunot near the city center. Here, fish pens dominate the scene, but there are also open spots for fishing. The name “ bunot ” comes from a funny misunderstanding between a Spanish soldier and a local husking coconut by the lake!

Lake Sampaloc

Lake Sampaloc

Our grand finale was Lake Sampaloc, the largest and most popular among the seven. A scenic promenade with cafes, restaurants, and even accommodations lines the lake. The local government has been working hard to remove fish pens for a more picturesque view, and the majestic Mt Banahaw and Mt Cristobal rising in the background truly complete the picture. Legend says a giant Sampaloc tree once stood here in a stingy old woman’s garden, but a fairy’s curse transformed it all into a lake – a reminder of kindness.

This whirlwind tour left me breathless but with a heart full of wonder. The  Seven Lakes of San Pablo  are a treasure trove of natural beauty and fascinating legends. So, if you’re looking for a refreshing escape from the city, pack your bags and get ready for your own seven-lake adventure!

Re-visiting Pandin Lake

Re-visiting Pandin Lake

After more than 2 years of leading an almost monotonous life, my friend Chie and I planned a quick getaway at our usual spot from years back. Re-visiting Lake Pandin in San Pablo, Laguna seemed a very nice idea! The image of trees and lake got stuck in my mind the moment ny friend told me we were going on a quick day tour. It felt more like a trip to Europe.

lake pandin day tour

I have actually been to Pandin Lake a number of times before. A visit here always gives me joy because of nature. A short hike from the main road was an adventure in itself. I can still remember feeling the cool air against my face. The sun’s mighty rays can not touch my skin due to the towering trees above me. I was yearning to experience that once again.

Due to the pandemic, the local government has placed some precautions for visitors i.e. certificate of visit from the baranggay and vaccinations cards. I find this a little bit of hassle for the visitors since there was no onsite issuance of passes. You still need to go to the actual baranggay office. I think for streamlining purposes, there should be already be an official near the site who issues passes. Let’s make the process easy for the visitors shall we? Don’t worry, the pass is free (thank God).

lake pandin day tour

To my dismay, the looking-forward-to-a-short-hike-dream was immediately shattered as the road towards the lake has already been paved. The towering trees above me were no longer there. Sure, it made the ‘trek’ easier. But where was the natural experience of ‘hiking’? I got sad and disappointed. I know that this gave the local trike drivers a source of income but I believe that retaining the surrounding’s natural beauty is an attraction in itself. It wasn’t properly thought of. Sadly, you will no longer have that experience when visiting Pandin Lake.

lake pandin day tour

It was a good thing that my friend had relatives living near the lake. We were able to enjoy an authentic camping experience with no paved roads in sight. Her cousin caught some fresh tilapia for us and prepared some buko juice too! We had packed lunch consisting of rice, red egg, tomato and mango. We stayed for several hours and we even fell asleep. It was raining a every now and then when we arrived so I did not get crystal clear shots of the lake. Nevertheless, this area of the Lake is till captivating.

lake pandin day tour

We left mid-afternoon to have early dinner at nearby Liliw. We went to the other side of the lake before going back to the main road. I felt a little joy when we walked here since I saw a horse eating, children playing and an area where there’s no concrete. The view of the lake from the other side was refreshing. Well, not including the concrete mess they have created.
