Winter 2022 and summer 2023: Luxair optimises its flight schedule and unveils two of its new destinations for next summe

After a summer marked by a strong desire for travel, Luxair and its tour operator, LuxairTours continue their development and introduce optimisations of their flight plan for winter 2022, always with the aim of offering more flexibility to their customers looking for “winter sun” weekends and getaways. The airline does not stop there and is already planning two new destinations for summer Copy to French2023!

Winter 2022: Luxair optimises its flight frequency  

Luxair and LuxairTours will increase their frequencies to certain destinations this winter, at the request of their customers, with the following flight additions:  

• Porto: Addition of an extra flight on Friday bringing the number of weekly rotations to 11.
• Palma de Mallorca: Additional flights on Sunday, for a total of up to 4 rotations per week.
• Faro: Addition of an extra flight on Wednesday bringing the number of weekly rotation to 3.  
• Dublin: Addition of an extra flight on Saturday bringing the number of weekly rotation to 5.
• Oslo: Addition of an extra flight on Wednesday bringing the number of weekly rotation to 3.
• Hamburg: Addition of two extra flights on Tuesday and Thursday bringing the number of weekly rotation to 8.  

  For the first time this winter, the airline's customers will be able to fly to Prague with two flights per week on Fridays and Mondays. A great opportunity to discover over a long weekend the capital of the Czech Republic, usually only served during summer season. 

Summer 2023: Launch of two new destinations Pescara in Italy  Luxair has just opened for sale Pescara, an Italian seaside resort on the Adriatic Sea, as a new destination. Renowned for its beaches, the city of Pescara benefits from an attractive geographical location between the Lazio region and Puglia. A total change of scenery, with just a 2:10 hours flight from Luxembourg at a starting price of 119€ the round trip. With the addition of Pescara, Luxair now operates 14 Italian destinations, while further improving its service towards Italy.     The announcement of the opening of this new destination in the very heart of Italy will surely delight many Luxair customers. Pescara has become a favourite holiday destination for many Italians and attracts a growing number of visitors due to its touristic potential and the beauty of its coastline offering nature lovers sumptuous beaches.    Luxembourg is a cosmopolitan country with a large community from the Abruzzo region, where the new Italian destination Pescara is situated.    As from March 2023 and with two flights per week, on Mondays and Fridays, Luxair customers will be able to fly to the seaside resort of Pescara and combine the charm of Italy with the natural beauty of the Adriatic coast.    Monday

With one flight per week, LuxairTours customers will be able to discover the country's second most populated city after its capital Zagreb. Luxair : deux nouvelles destinations pour l'été 2023

La compagnie aérienne luxembourgeoise et son tour opérateur LuxairTours mettent le cap sur deux nouvelles destinations en vue de l'été prochain. Les billets sont déjà ouverts à la vente.

Le charme de l'Adriatique

Première destination, Pescara, en Italie. Une ville, devenue la coqueluche des italiens grâce à sa station balnéaire située au bord de la mer Adriatique.

Les premiers vols sont prévus à partir de mars 2023 et à raison de deux vols par semaine, le lundi et le vendredi.

A la découverte la côte dalmate

Luxair propose également à partir du 30 avril 2023, Split, en Croatie. Une destination qui marque son retour au plan de vol estival, à raison d’un vol par semaine, le dimanche. Les voyageurs pourront ainsi s’envoler à la découverte de la deuxième ville la plus peuplée du pays derrière sa capitale Zagreb.

Des vols accentués cet hiver

Face à une demande croissante des voyageurs, Luxair accentuera ses vols dès cet hier avec au programme :

11 vols par semaine à destination de Porto et 4 par semaine pour Palma de Majorque.

3 vols par semaine pour Faro, 5 pour Dublin, 3 pour Oslo, 8 pour Hambourg et 2 vols par semaine (lundi et vendredi) vers Prague.

Located in a charming bay in the north-east of the island, Alcúdia is bordered by a sandy cove that stretches for 14 kilometres. Alcúdia and Puerto de Alcúdia are also home to the archaeological site of Pollentia, the island's ancient Roman capital. The old town of Alcúdia, surrounded by medieval fortifications, is particularly popular thanks to its welcoming atmosphere and narrow cobbled streets, which regularly host all kinds of festivities. For nature and wildlife lovers, the S’Albufera nature reserve is also a must. It has become home to many different species and the landscape is untouched! Distance from the airport: 67 km.

Cala Mandia / Porto Cristo 

The south-eastern coastline of Mallorca is dotted with many delightful attractions, such as Cala Mandia and Porto Cristo – both of which have beautiful long beaches with fine sand and clear waters that are well suited to swimming. Porto Cristo is also renowned for its traditional atmosphere and small fishing port. In addition, the Cuevas del Drach (Dragon Caves) are a must-see if you are staying in the area. Distance from the airport: 60 km.

Cala Mesquida / Cala Ratjada / Cala de Sa Font

These small, peaceful resorts are particularly popular with families for their beautiful, gently sloping sandy beaches bordered on either side by rocky, tree-lined hills. For a more lively seaside atmosphere, you can take a small train to Cala Millor or make use of the convenient public transport. Distance from the airport: 68 km.

Cala Millor

This modern seaside resort has a beautifully landscaped promenade and a gently sloping sandy beach that is safe for children. It also offers a wide range of recreational and sporting activities for those who like to stay active during their holiday. In the evening, there is plenty of entertainment on offer at the many cafes, restaurants, bodegas, bars and nightclubs along the promenade. This destination is particularly popular with German-speakers. Distance from the airport: 70 km.

Cala Mondragó / Cala d'Or / Calas de Mallorca

Mallorca's south-eastern coastline is dotted with a number of delightful spots nestled in pretty little bays and framed by protected natural areas. Their beautiful fine sandy beaches provide safe conditions for swimming and beach activities, making them ideal for a family holiday. There is a friendly atmosphere in the nearby cafés, restaurants, bars and shops. Distance from the airport: 63 km.

Camp de Mar

The seaside resort and is located 2 km west of Paguera on a small sandy beach in the southwest of the island. The village has an 18-hole golf course in a beautiful location between the mountains and the sea. Distance to airport: 38 km.

Can Pastilla

This area of Palma de Mallorca is very popular among tourists, vacationers from Spain mainland and locals alike. Its beach is the first stretch of Playa de Palma, which extends to El Arenal. The beach promenade is lined with bars, cafes, discos and stores. It is the perfect destination for a vacation between sea and city. Distance from the airport: 5 km.

Can Picafort

This tourist resort is around 64 kilometres from the airport and has a marina in the north-east of the island. At the eastern end of the Bay of Alcúdia, you'll find tranquil, gently sloping beaches, numerous nature reserves and a wealth of opportunities for leisure activities. The dolmens ("stone tables") of Son Bauló, the pyramid-shaped obelisks on the beach promenade and the necropolis of Son Real and S'Illot de Porres are particularly interesting historical sites!

Colonia de Sant Jordi

This small former fishing port has gradually evolved into a popular family resort in the south-east of Mallorca. The progression has been relaxed and seamless, allowing it to retain the gentle way of life of yesteryear. The town’s proximity to the Cabrera National Park and its beautiful white sandy beaches lapped by translucent waters make it an ideal place for a change of scene. Distance from the airport: approx. 45 km.

This pretty little bay is in the south-west of the island and is very easily accessible from the airport and the town of Palma. The gently-sloping sandy beach is approx. 200 m long and approx. 80 m wide. There is no LuxairTours guide in the hotels at Cala Mayor/Illetes. Distance to airport: 20 km.

Majorca’s fourth town. The magnificent Son Antem 18-hole golf course, with its original vegetation, is approx. 4 km away and offers the largest driving range in Majorca. The closest beaches on the south coast are approx. 20 km away. Distance to airport: 27 km.

Paguera is located in the southwest of Majorca and is part of the municipality of Calvià. It is popular for its three beautiful sandy beaches – Palmira, Tora and Romana – which are linked by a long promenade and provide ideal conditions for swimming and water sports. Please note that LuxairTours guides are not present at the hotels in this area. Distance from the airport: approx. 30 km.

The formerly small fishing village is located on the southwest coast of Mallorca, close to the lively seaside resort of Magaluf with its large water park and numerous water sports and entertainment facilities. Restaurants, bars and shops can be found along the Palmanova promenade, which runs along the fine white sandy beach. Distance to airport: 30 km.

Playa de Muro

Located in the bay of Alcúdia, the Playa de Muro resort is situated on a huge beach that stretches for 6 kilometres, uninterrupted, up to the neighbouring resorts. It is the perfect place to enjoy a quiet stay with a beautiful view of the northern peaks and shallow crystal clear water. Distance from the airport: 64 km.

Playa de Palma

This Mallorcan tourist destination is located to the east of Palma, along a beautiful sandy beach and its palm-lined promenade. As for entertainment, the choice is endless. Here you’ll find some of the trendiest nightclubs and loveliest bodegas. Distance from the airport: 5 km.

Porto Petro

Majorca’s south-eastern coastline is dotted with many charming locations nestled in pretty bays. The long fine sand beaches are ideal for family swims, while the many beach bars, bistro-coffee shops, restaurants and shops in the village centres invite you to wander and relax on a terrace. The fishing village of Porto Cristo is also worth a visit and it is also here that the famous ‘Cuevas del Drach’ (Dragon Caves) can be found. Distance to airport: 57 km.

These little seaside resorts not far from Cala Millor, with their long, gently-sloping sandy beaches, are particularly suitable for children. If you are looking for more entertainment, a little train and public transport will quickly take you to Cala Millor. Distance to airport: 68 km.

Santa Ponsa

Surrounded by rocky and wooded landscapes, the small bay of Santa Ponsa is located in the southwest of the island. It is popular for its beaches – one larger and one more intimate – as well as for its translucent and shallow waters, perfectly suited for swimming and beach activities. Sancha Ponsa offers good facilities and services, and golfers are especially well catered for, as there are three golf courses in the immediate vicinity. Distance to the airport: approx. 34 km.

Cala Serena

Nestled in a small bay with a picture-postcard feel, Cala Serena boasts a heavenly beach surrounded by wooded cliffs. The area is ideal for diving and snorkelling. Please note that the services of LuxairTours guides are not offered in the hotels in Cala Serena during the winter season. Distance from the airport: 60 km.

Cala Domingos

Located on the eastern side of the island, on the outskirts of Cales de Mallorca, the bay of Cala Domingos is notable for its two golden beaches and clear waters, which have been awarded the Blue Flag for safety. They offer an idyllic setting for water sports and relaxation, framed by rocky landscapes covered in pine trees. There are also a number of friendly establishments in the immediate vicinity where you can have a drink or a meal. Distance from the airport: approx. 64 km..

The small seaside town north of Cala Millor is known for its beautiful gently sloping beach and tranquil, family-friendly atmosphere. It boasts a lively little marina and a seafront promenade perfect for long walks. It is the ideal destination for those who want to avoid the area’s crowded beaches and the touristy resorts. Distance from the airport: 72 km.

Must-do & Must-see - our suggestions

• The Orange Express , which runs from Palma to the picturesque mountain town of Sóller , was once used to transport oranges and almonds by rail. This train is still in operation today, and is used to show visitors the island’s many attractions and most beautiful landscapes.
• If you’re athletic and outdoorsy, take a day off from the beach and answer the call of the mountains! The Serra de Tramuntana , a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a must-see. It’s also worth stopping in Valdemossa , a charming village that has managed to preserve its old-fashioned charm.
• Playa de Palma is well-known for its lively atmosphere. Its many trendy bars and nightclubs make it the place to be for partying.
• Located on the east coast of Mallorca, the Cuevas del Drach (Dragon Caves) are a magical spectacle to behold, with their impressive stalactites, stalagmites and other geological curiosities formed by the natural elements. In this fairytale setting, you’ll even find an underground lake which sometimes hosts musicians for concerts. 
• The image that immediately comes to mind when talking about Palma de Mallorca is its cathedral, La Seu , but this trendy cosmopolitan city has many other architectural, cultural and festive surprises up its sleeve. Take a Hop on / Hop off bus tour to get a full overview of Palma, with the freedom to spend longer in the areas you like most!
• The Cap de Formentor , which marks the end of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range in the north of Mallorca, is definitely worth a visit for the magnificent view from its lighthouse. It is a simply spectacular sight!

Cap de Formentor

As you leave Palma de Mallorca, you will first cross the Mallorcan plain to Port de Pollença, where you will take the coastal road to Cap de Formentor, the northernmost point of the island. The journey itself is already a feast for the eyes. There are many viewpoints along the way where you can stop to take in the natural beauty of this unique and unspoilt landscape and take some photos. Climb up to the top of Cap de Formentor, a lighthouse built in 1857 to direct boats along the coast, for a magical moment of reflection.

Dragon Caves

You will head out of Palma de Mallorca towards Porto Cristo, where the Cuevas del Drach (Dragon Caves) were first documented by historians in 1338! This natural wonder is found 25 metres below ground and its tunnels stretch over 1,200 metres. In its chambers, you can see all sorts of stalactites, stalagmites and other geological curiosities shaped over the centuries by water infiltration and other natural elements. The tunnels also lead to an underground lake which is 117 metre long and between 4 and 12 metres deep. Lake Edouard Alfred Martel, named after the speleologist who first discovered it, is one of the three most impressive underground lakes in the world.

Felanitx market and Sanctuary of Sant Salvador

As the first activity, dive into the friendly and colourful atmosphere of the traditional Mallorcan markets, where good humour and the scent of aromatic herbs and fragrant spices are inescapable. The Felanitx market, with its countless stalls lining the narrow streets of the centre and around the church of Sant Miquel, is a weekly meeting-point for locals and visitors alike. Here, you can find all kinds of food and artisanal products, but it is particularly popular for its ceramic objects. After this visit, you will continue in the direction of the unmissable Sanctuary of Sant Salvador, a major site of pilgrimage. The monastery is at an altitude of 509 metres and dates back to 1348. From the promontory where it is located, you can enjoy a truly breathtaking view.

Sineu market and the Dragon Caves

This excursion takes you to Sineu, Mallorca’s former royal capital, in the heart of the countryside. For 700 years, this picturesque town has been home to a traditional market that was established by King Jaume to encourage international trade. This colourful market showcases local agriculture and crafts. After this authentic experience, you will will continue in the direction of Manacor and Porto Cristo to reach the Cuevas del Drach (Dragon Caves). As you sail through its 1,200-metre-long tunnels, you can admire the masterpiece created by Mother Nature over the centuries!  You’ll be amazed by the natural shapes of the stalactites and stalagmites and by the immensity of Lake Martel, which covers over 117 metres and is one of the three largest underground lakes in the world. The highlight of the day will be a sound and light show on the lake, which will undoubtedly leave you with an unforgettable memory of your day!

With this activity, you can combine a visit to the capital of the Balearic Islands, Palma de Mallorca, with a visit to Valldemossa, a picturesque village located in the heart of the Tramuntana, where you will have the opportunity to wander through the streets at your own pace. First you will be charmed by the vibrant atmosphere and cosmopolitan character of Palma. Its historic centre is home to the remains of different civilisations and unmissable sites such as La Seu, its famous cathedral and true Gothic architectural masterpiece, or the Almundaina Palace, the official residence of the royal couple dating back to the 14th century. You can also take a stroll along its marina or wander through the maze of alleys lined with characterful houses, chic boutiques and charming cafés. On the drive to Valldemossa, you can admire beautiful landscapes and panoramic views from the heights while your guide tells you about the history of this village where George Sand and Frédéric Chopin made their home during the winter of 1838-39. On arrival, you can discover the authentic character of the town at your leisure or to visit the Royal Charterhouse with its old pharmacy, church and the cells where the monks lived. The trip will end with a folk dance performance or a piano concert in the Palace of King Sancho.

Robinson Boat Trip

This is an activity for sea lovers! This excursion will allow you to discover the Mallorcan coastline from a motorboat, sailboat or catamaran and to see the bay of Pollensa from a completely different angle. Not only will you be able to admire beauty of the landscape, with its majestic mountains in the background, but you will also be able to get up close and personal with marine life during a snorkelling session in the most beautiful coves of the island. A mask, flippers and snorkel will be provided for you for this purpose. Caps and sun cream are essential.

Valldemossa

A stay on the island of Mallorca is not complete without a trip to Valdemossa, a village in the heart of the Tramuntana mountain range. With the help of you LuxairTours, you can discover this authentic hidden gem, set in the heart of a magnificent landscape. On the journey to Valdemossa you will pass through S'Esgleyeta, before taking the winding road to the village where Frédéric Chopin and George Sand made their home during the winter of 1838-39. Here, you can visit the Royal Charterhouse, where they were welcomed and which inspired them both enormously. The old monastery houses a museum exhibiting some of the objects that belonged to them, as well as the heritage of the Carthusian monks and various works of art. The old Farmacia de la Cartuja, founded by the Carthusian monks themselves, is also one of the best preserved in Europe. The monks used to sell medicines based on home-grown medicinal plants.
