Top Caribbean FAQs

How long are Caribbean cruises?

Celebrity offers a wide range of cruises all over the Caribbean, from  three-night getaways  to 12-night voyages. Relax and rejuvenate in The Bahamas and CocoCay, or over a week visiting Mexico and Grand Cayman, or San Juan, the British Virgin Islands, and St. Kitts. On our longer Caribbean itineraries, we visit the Southern Caribbean, Central America, and South America, crossing the Panama Canal.

Can I cruise during hurricane season?

Yes! Celebrity’s ships sail, between June and November, which is regarded as hurricane season.

Only a very small portion of cruises that sail to the Caribbean during a storm season are actually affected by these storms. Though you may encounter slightly rougher water on a cruise during hurricane season, there are many systems in place to detect any hurricane weather along your cruise route, ensuring your ship’s captain and crew will be able to chart a path around any bad weather or make modifications to the itinerary to keep you safe. Celebrity’s state-of-the-art ships are built for stability, keeping movement in rough seas to a minimum.

See our blog post about  cruising during hurricane season.

Where are the best beaches in the Caribbean?

Every island in the Caribbean has beautiful beaches, from rocky coves to long sweeps of white sand lined with umbrellas and buzzing beach bars. Naming the  Caribbean's best beaches  is a purely subjective topic, as everybody has their favorite. Some of the most famous, though, include Grand Cayman’s gorgeous Seven Mile Beach, and the dazzling white sand of Eagle Beach on Aruba. Dickenson Beach in Antigua is a picturesque paradise, while Crane Beach on Barbados boasts pale pink sand.

Honeymoon Beach on St. John is home to one of the most romantic settings in the Caribbean, while The Baths on Virgin Gorda is a day full of adventure, where you can hike through caves that lead you straight down to secret rock pools. Rent an overwater cabana for the day at  the Coco Beach Club on CocoCay in the Bahamas, or relax with a cocktail in hand on this natural coral island at any of the island's white sandy beaches. Deciding which beach is your personal favorite is all part of the fun.

What can I do besides go to the beach?

The Caribbean has a rich culture that extends beyond beach life. Explore colorful streets and colonial-era forts in Old San Juan, and ride the St. Kitts Scenic Railway across verdant countryside with beautiful ocean views. Take a day off from sunbathing and join a horseback riding tour along St. Maarten’s stunning coastline. Explore Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua or climb the Pitons in St. Lucia, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Join a gourmet walking tour of Charlotte Amalie in the U.S. Virgin Islands to learn about its culinary culture, or stroll through the Queen Elizabeth II Botanical Park on Grand Cayman. Learn about spice cultivation in Grenada or join a nature walk in Barbados. It doesn’t matter how many times you visit the Caribbean—you will never run out of things to do.

Do I need a passport to cruise to the Caribbean?

It is the responsibility of each guest to identify and obtain all required travel documents and have them available at the pier when necessary. Before leaving home, take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the required travel documents you will be asked to provide prior to boarding the ship. You’ll find more information  here .

Not all Caribbean cruises require a passport. If you are an American citizen traveling from the U.S. to the Bahamas or Mexico on a closed-loop cruise, starting and ending at the same U.S. port, a state-issued ID and an original U.S. birth certificate is sufficient.

On other Caribbean cruises, you can enter with your U.S. passport book, passport card, Trusted Traveler card (Nexus, SENTRI, or FAST), or an enhanced driver’s license. See our  blog post  for more information.

When’s the best time to cruise?

You can now cruise the Caribbean year round on one of our newest Edge series ships, Celebrity Beyond, starting in 2024. The Caribbean is a cruiser’s dream vacation in every season, but the best time to cruise the Caribbean can depend on your schedule, your travel budget and your travel desires. Discover the  best times to cruise the Caribbean  on our blog.

Where do Caribbean cruises depart from?

Celebrity’s Caribbean cruises depart from Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Tampa, Port Canaveral and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

What should I pack for a Caribean Cruise?

When  packing for a cruise to the Caribbean , you’ll need clothing for a warm, sometimes humid climate. Bring plenty of beachwear, a sun hat, sunglasses, coverups, water shoes if you’re visiting coral beaches, and reef-friendly sunblock.

If you book a snorkeling excursion, all gear will be provided, but where there are places that you may want to snorkel independently, consider bringing your own equipment.

Throughout the ship, casual resort wear, sundresses, shorts, polos, or button-downs are appropriate, paired with sandals, low heels, and loafers. In main and specialty dining, we ask guests to refrain from wearing swimsuits, see-through cover ups or robes, bare feet, tank tops, T-shirts, and baseball caps.

Smart Casual attire is required for entry to main dining, specialty dining, and the Celebrity Theatre. Smart Casual means you look comfortable yet tasteful in a dress, skirt, long pants, or jeans with a stylish top or button-down. Shorts and flip flops are not considered Smart Casual.

Each itinerary features one to two “formal” nights that we call Evening Chic. Evening Chic means you dress to impress, glamorous and sophisticated in your own way, with a cocktail dress, skirt, slacks, or designer jeans, an elegant dress top, or blazer—some guests even pack a tuxedo or gown for onboard photos.

The daily program, delivered to your stateroom and available at the Guest Relations Desk, will be your guide to the correct attire each evening. If you do not wish to participate in Evening Chic, Smart Casual attire is acceptable for dining and attending the theater.

Is it easy to get around the Caribbean islands?

The easiest way to get around each island is to  book a shore excursion .

What language is spoken in the Caribbean?

English is the main language spoken in the Caribbean. However, there are many other languages spoken within the region. On the ABC Islands and St. Maarten (on the Dutch side), Dutch is the official language, but locals also speak Papamiento, a hybrid of Dutch, Spanish, and various West African languages. In the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, it’s Spanish. On the French side of St. Maarten/St. Martin, it’s French. Across the Caribbean, you’ll hear Creole spoken, or patois, which varies from island to island.

Top March Cruises: Caribbean, Rivers & Romantic Retreats

March is the perfect time to escape the last chill of winter and set sail on a sun-soaked adventure. I’ve scoured the seas and compiled a list of the best cruises that promise to turn your spring into an unforgettable journey.

From exotic Caribbean getaways to serene European river cruises, I’ll guide you through the top picks that cater to every taste and budget. Whether you’re looking for family fun or a romantic retreat, you’ll discover the ideal cruise to match your March vacation dreams.

Top Cruises for March

When you’re planning your March getaway, selecting the right cruise can be as refreshing as the ocean breeze. I’ve spent hours researching and have narrowed down my list to the absolute best cruises that promise sunshine and adventure.

For those who dream of sapphire waters and palm-fringed beaches, Caribbean Cruises are at the top of the heap. You can expect stops at idyllic islands like Barbados and the Bahamas, where the sun is your constant companion. The weather is generally in your favor during March, with clear skies and warm temperatures. Expect a range of on-board activities, from poolside lounging to live entertainment.

If you’re enamored by culture and history, a European river cruise might be your perfect match. Cruises down the Danube or Rhine rivers offer an intimate experience with stops in charming cities and majestic landscapes. Spring blooms bring life to these storied routes with bursts of colors and mild weather for those onshore excursions.

But March isn’t just about the warmth; it’s also the tail end of the Antarctic Cruise Season . If you’re looking for an out-of-the-box experience, visiting the frozen continent as the chill starts to thaw is a unique choice. Wildlife, including penguins and whales, are active during this period, offering unparalleled sights for the intrepid traveler.

  • Stop by islands like Barbados and Bahamas
  • Wide range of onboard activities
  • Traverse historical rivers like the Danube and Rhine
  • Explore charming cities and enjoy spring colors
  • Visit the thawing continent
  • Observe active wildlife like penguins and whales

And let’s not forget the Pacific which offers a different kind of tranquility. Cruises in this region often include stops in Hawaii or Tahiti, providing a perfect blend of cultural experiences and beach relaxation. The weather is typically warm but not excessively so, making it ideal for those who prefer a more temperate climate.

Whether you sail into the sunset aboard a Caribbean liner or meander through Europe’s heart via its rivers, March cruises cater to your craving for sun, sea, and sights. The promise of waking up to a new destination each day is indeed the icing on the cruise cake.

Caribbean Getaways

When it comes to cruising in March, Caribbean Getaways top the list for their sun-kissed beaches and azure waters. Year-round sunshine makes the Caribbean an excellent choice for travelers looking to escape colder climates. I’ve explored several cruises that ply these tropical waters, and I’m thrilled to share my highlights.

For starters, the Eastern Caribbean routes often feature ports like St. Maarten, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. These destinations dazzle with white-sand beaches, historic forts, and vibrant local markets. While shopping in Philipsburg or snorkeling in the clear waters of St. John, you’ll find endless activities to enjoy.

Western Caribbean cruises tend to include stops in Cozumel, Mexico, and Grand Cayman. I’ve experienced firsthand the joy of swimming with dolphins in Cozumel and the marvel of stingray encounters in the shallow waters of Stingray City. The ancient Mayan ruins in Tulum are just a short trip from the Cozumel port, offering a blend of culture and history amid your relaxing getaway.

Below are some of the top Caribbean cruises for March, which combine excellent weather, superb amenities, and immersive excursions:

  • Royal Caribbean International : Impressive ships with a multitude of onboard activities
  • Carnival Cruise Line : Known for its festive atmosphere and family-friendly fun
  • Norwegian Cruise Line : Boasts freestyle cruising with a focus on flexibility and freedom
  • Celebrity Cruises : Offers a more upscale experience with fine dining and sophisticated onboard experiences

Keep in mind that last-minute deals can pop up, making luxury cruises more affordable than you might expect. Additionally, many lines offer special themed cruises during this time, ranging from culinary explorations to jazz-filled evenings, ensuring that every traveller finds their perfect match in the Caribbean seas.

European River Cruises

If you’re yearning for a serene escape through the heart of Europe, European River Cruises offer just that in March. The season casts a unique charm on rivers like the Danube, Rhine, and Seine. My experiences gliding past the blooming landscapes and historic cities have been nothing short of magical.

March is an enticing time for river cruising because the crowds are thinner and the views of early spring give a fresh perspective of Europe’s beauty. Many cruisers are drawn to the fabled tulip cruises in the Netherlands and Belgium , which are in full swing during this period. Picture this: you’re meandering through waterways surrounded by fields of vibrant tulips and quaint windmills.

The Danube River offers a tapestry of cultural highlights, from the architectural wonders of Vienna to the enchanting cobbled streets of Budapest. A cruise along the Danube in March delivers a blend of indoor and outdoor experiences as you explore Gothic cathedrals or soak in thermal baths.

For those who favor fairy tales, the Rhine boasts castles perched atop rolling hillsides and myths woven into every winding turn. Ships usually navigate between Amsterdam and Basel, providing access to the iconic Black Forest and the storied Lorelei rock.

Beyond the scenery, European river cruises are renowned for their luxurious amenities and personalized service . From onboard gourmet dining showcasing regional cuisines to well-appointed staterooms with panoramic views, these cruises cater to your desire for comfort and elegance. Don’t forget to indulge in the wide range of onshore excursions that deep dive into Europe’s rich history and culture.

When considering a European river cruise, it’s wise to look into the line’s itineraries and excursions that can enrich your journey. Companies like Viking River Cruises, AmaWaterways, and Uniworld offer a variety of routes tailored to different interests, whether it’s wine-tasting in France or tracing the footsteps of classical composers. Keep an eye out for early-booking discounts or special educational programs that often accompany these cruises, making the trip as enriching as it is enjoyable.

Family-Friendly Cruises

When considering a vacation that caters to all ages, family-friendly cruises in March offer an array of engaging activities and experiences to keep everyone entertained. Choosing the right cruise line is crucial, as some go the extra mile to ensure their youngest guests are as valued as adults.

Disney Cruise Line stands out with its trademark character experiences and family-oriented entertainment. Disney’s ships feature themed dining rooms, Broadway-caliber shows, and deck parties that captivate both children and adults. I’ve found that their private island, Castaway Cay, is a tropical haven where families can enjoy a perfect day of adventure and relaxation.

Another line that caters to families is Royal Caribbean . Not only do they boast an impressive fleet of ships complete with ice skating rinks, surf simulators, and zip lines, they also offer the award-winning Adventure Ocean program. This program provides educational and fun experiences tailored for different age groups, ensuring that kids have a blast while parents get some well-deserved downtime.

For those looking for a blend of education and play, Carnival Cruise Line offers their Camp Ocean program with marine-themed activities, helping kids learn about the wonders of the sea while making new friends onboard. Teens aren’t left out either, as many ships have dedicated clubs with video games, dance parties, and movie nights.

When booking your March getaway, don’t forget to check out itineraries. The Caribbean is a popular destination for its warm weather and crystal-clear waters. However, if you’re looking to mix things up, consider a family cruise to the Mexican Riviera or the Canary Islands for a taste of diverse cultures and landscapes. It’s important to review the specific amenities and programs available on each ship to ensure they align with your family’s interests and needs.

Keep in mind that during spring break season, cruises can fill up quickly. It’s wise to book early, not only to guarantee your spot but to take advantage of early-booking discounts . With a bit of planning, your family cruise in March can be a memorable adventure that offers something for every member of the family.

Romantic Retreats

When love is in the air, and you’re seeking that perfect escape with your significant other, a cruise in March can be the idyllic setting for romance. Not only is the weather starting to warm up, but you’ll also beat the summer vacation crowds, giving you and your partner more intimate moments together. Look no further than luxury cruise lines like Viking Ocean Cruises, Azamara, or Crystal Cruises for a truly romantic getaway on the high seas.

These cruise lines stand out for their Adults-Only Atmosphere and Personalized Service . Aboard, you’ll find tranquil spas, fine dining with gourmet menus, and staterooms designed with couples in mind. Picture yourself indulging in a couples’ massage or enjoying a private balcony dinner as you sail into the sunset.

Here’s what makes these cruises a top choice for romantic retreats:

  • Private Excursions : Tailor-made tours for two allow you to explore ports without the bustle of larger tour groups.
  • Enrichment Programs : Wine tastings, cooking classes, and dance lessons offer unique bonding experiences.
  • Elegant Accommodations : Rooms with ocean views and private verandas set the stage for unforgettable mornings and evenings together.

For those moments when you want to mingle with other couples, there’s a variety of onboard entertainment and activities to choose from. Enjoy a Broadway-style show, live music at various lounges, or a moonlit walk on the deck.

March also comes with its share of exclusive itineraries. Perhaps a Mediterranean Cruise that calls to the romantic in us all with stops in quaint towns and historic cities, or maybe a leisurely South Pacific Voyage , charting a course to some of the most secluded and romantic islands in the world.

Advance Reservations are a must to ensure the cruise that fits your romantic vision is available. Due to their popularity and the special amenities they offer, these romantic cruises tend to book quickly. Don’t wait too long to secure your haven of love on the open seas.

March presents an incredible opportunity to explore the seas and find the perfect cruise experience. Cruising in March can be an exceptional experience, but it comes with its own set of considerations. Here’s what to keep in mind:

Weather Variability

Watch Out For: Weather in March can vary widely in different cruise destinations. Some regions may still experience winter conditions, while others offer pleasant spring-like weather.

Tip: Research the expected weather for your specific cruise itinerary and pack accordingly. Bring layers and weather-appropriate clothing to adapt to changing conditions.

Packing Wisely

Watch Out For: Packing for a March cruise requires careful consideration due to varying climates. Overpacking or forgetting essentials can impact your comfort and enjoyment.

Tip: Create a comprehensive packing list that includes clothing for both warm and cool weather. Don’t forget essentials like sunscreen, medications, and travel documents.

Spring Break Crowds

Watch Out For: March often coincides with spring break for schools and colleges, leading to increased cruise bookings, especially in family-friendly destinations.

Tip: If you prefer quieter cruises, consider avoiding popular spring break destinations or opting for sailings early or late in March.

Special Events

Watch Out For: Some cruises in March may coincide with special events, such as St. Patrick’s Day celebrations or local festivals. These can be exciting but may also affect your cruise experience.

Tip: Embrace the festive atmosphere and participate in onboard celebrations if you’re interested. Plan your shore excursions to explore local events.

Seasickness Concerns

Watch Out For: Seasickness can still be a concern in March, especially if the seas are rough. It’s essential to be prepared for this possibility.

Tip: Choose a cabin on a lower deck and toward the ship’s center, as these areas typically experience less motion. Pack seasickness remedies like over-the-counter medications or wristbands.

Spring Equinox

Watch Out For: March brings the vernal equinox, which can lead to unpredictable weather patterns and potential stormy seas in certain regions.

Tip: Stay informed about weather conditions and potential itinerary changes. Be flexible and adaptable if your cruise encounters adverse weather.

Spring Breakers and Families

Watch Out For: Families often cruise in March due to school breaks, which can lead to a livelier atmosphere onboard.

Tip: If you prefer a more serene cruise experience, consider adult-only or premium cruise lines that may have fewer families on board.

Early or Late March

Watch Out For: The weather can vary significantly early in March, with some destinations still experiencing winter conditions. Late March is generally more spring-like.

Tip: Choose your cruise date carefully, considering your preferred climate and activities at each destination.

Booking Your March Cruise

Booking your March cruise is a pivotal step in turning your dream vacation into reality. Here are some essential tips to ensure a smooth and enjoyable booking process:

Timing Matters

The timing of your booking can significantly impact your cruise experience. Consider the following:

  • Early Booking : For the best availability and cabin selection, it’s advisable to book your March cruise well in advance. This is especially crucial if you have specific preferences, such as cabin location or dining times.
  • Last-Minute Deals : If you have flexibility in your travel plans, keep an eye out for last-minute cruise deals. Cruise lines often offer discounted fares on unsold cabins as the departure date approaches.
  • Wave Season : January through March is commonly known as “Wave Season” in the cruise industry. Many cruise lines roll out special promotions and discounts during this period. Take advantage of these offers to secure cost savings and extra perks.

Budget-Friendly Options

While planning your March cruise, it’s essential to consider your budget and explore options that align with your financial goals:

  • Inside Cabins : Inside cabins are typically the most budget-friendly option. While they lack windows or balconies, they provide a comfortable place to rest and sleep, and you’ll still have access to all the ship’s amenities and activities.
  • Oceanview or Balcony : If you have a bit more flexibility in your budget, consider an oceanview cabin or a balcony stateroom. These options offer stunning sea views and private outdoor spaces, enhancing your cruise experience.
  • Suites and Luxury Cruises : For travelers seeking a more luxurious experience, suites and high-end cruise lines provide top-notch service, spacious accommodations, and exclusive amenities. Keep in mind that these options come at a higher cost.

Booking Channels

Decide how you’d like to book your cruise. There are two primary options:

  • Travel Agencies : Many travelers choose to work with travel agencies that specialize in cruise vacations. Travel agents can provide expert advice, help you navigate the myriad cruise options, and often offer exclusive deals and perks.
  • Direct Booking : If you prefer to handle your cruise booking directly with the cruise line, their websites and call centers provide a straightforward booking process. Keep in mind that booking directly may limit your access to certain promotions available through travel agencies.

Itinerary and Destination

Consider the itinerary and destination carefully when booking your March cruise:

  • Duration : Determine how long you’d like your cruise to be. March cruises can range from quick weekend getaways to extended journeys lasting several weeks.
  • Port of Departure : Choose a port that is convenient for you to reach. Depending on your location, you may have multiple departure ports to choose from.
  • Destination : Review the cruise itineraries to ensure they align with your travel interests. Whether you’re interested in exploring the Caribbean, Mediterranean, or other regions, there are diverse options available.
  • Flexible Dates : If you have flexibility in your travel dates, consider departing earlier or later in March. Prices can vary depending on the specific departure date, and you might find better deals on certain days.
  • Cruise Line Loyalty : If you have previously sailed with a particular cruise line, consider joining their loyalty program. Many cruise lines offer benefits such as discounts, priority boarding, and onboard credits to repeat cruisers.
  • Travel Insurance : Consider purchasing travel insurance to protect your investment. Travel insurance can provide coverage for unexpected events, including trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and lost luggage.
  • Read the Fine Print : Before finalizing your booking, carefully read the cruise line’s terms and conditions. Pay attention to cancellation policies, payment schedules, and any additional fees or charges.

Booking your March cruise should be an exciting part of your travel journey. By carefully considering your budget, preferences, and the timing of your booking, you can secure a cruise that suits your needs and sets the stage for an unforgettable adventure on the high seas.

Packing Tips for March Cruises

Packing efficiently and thoughtfully is essential for a seamless and enjoyable cruise experience in March.

As you prepare to embark on your journey, consider the following packing tips to ensure you have everything you need while minimizing excess luggage:

Check the Cruise Line’s Dress Code

Begin by reviewing the cruise line’s dress code. Different cruise lines have varying dress expectations, ranging from casual to formal. Ensure that you pack appropriate clothing for both onboard dining and special events.

Layered Clothing

March weather can be unpredictable, with varying temperatures depending on your destination. Packing layers allows you to adapt to changing conditions easily. Include lightweight sweaters, cardigans, and a versatile jacket or coat for cooler evenings or excursions.

Comfortable Footwear

Bring comfortable and supportive footwear suitable for both walking and exploring ashore. Consider packing a pair of closed-toe shoes for excursions and a pair of comfortable sandals for onboard activities.

If your cruise includes destinations with warm weather or access to pools and beaches, don’t forget to pack swimwear, sunscreen, and beach accessories like hats and sunglasses.

Formal Attire

If your cruise includes formal nights , pack appropriate attire, such as cocktail dresses, dress shirts, ties, and suits. A versatile outfit that can be dressed up or down is a smart choice.

Binoculars

Excursion Gear

If you plan to participate in specific activities like snorkeling, hiking, or biking, ensure you pack the necessary gear, such as swimsuits, water shoes, hiking boots, and helmets.

Toiletries and Medications

While cruise ships typically provide essential toiletries, it’s advisable to bring your preferred brands and any specialty products you require. Don’t forget prescription medications, a basic first-aid kit, and seasickness remedies, just in case.

Travel Adapters

Depending on your cruise’s destination, you may need travel adapters or converters to charge your electronic devices. Research the electrical outlets used at your ports of call.

Travel Documents

Keep all essential travel documents together, including your passport, cruise tickets, itinerary, visas (if necessary), and any required vaccination records. Make photocopies or digital scans as backups.

Reusable Water Bottle

Staying hydrated is vital while cruising. Packing a reusable water bottle can help you minimize waste and ensure you have access to water during your excursions.

Power Strip or Surge Protector

Cruise ship cabins often have limited electrical outlets. Packing a power strip or surge protector can provide additional outlets for charging devices.

Puzzle Books

Entertainment

While cruise ships offer a range of onboard entertainment, consider bringing your own entertainment, such as books, e-readers, or downloaded movies and music for downtime.

Travel Locks

For added security, consider using travel locks to secure your luggage and valuables while onboard or during excursions.

A small day bag or backpack can be handy for carrying essentials during excursions or for storing items like sunscreen, water bottles, and cameras while on the ship.

Cash and Credit Cards

Ensure you have sufficient local currency for expenses at each port of call. Also, inform your bank of your travel plans to prevent any issues with your credit or debit cards.

Laundry Supplies

Some cruise ships offer self-service laundry facilities. If you plan to do laundry, pack a small supply of detergent and fabric softener sheets.

Ziplock Bags

These versatile bags can be used for various purposes, such as keeping wet swimwear separate from your dry clothing or protecting electronic devices from moisture during excursions.

Many cruise lines offer smartphone apps that provide information about onboard activities, dining options, and shore excursions. Download the app before your cruise to stay informed.

March in the Caribbean: Weather, What to Pack, and What to See

march caribbean cruise

By this point in the year, most people up north are sick of winter, so it's no surprise that March is so popular for Caribbean travel. The weather is dependably warm and dry, and the time is right to head to the islands if you have a vacation from work or school around Easter or Spring Break .

March is the height of the high season in the Caribbean, and you'll generally pay the highest prices of the year to fly and stay in the Caribbean during this month. Spring Breakers start arriving in Caribbean destinations during March—notably in Cancun and Cozumel, Puerto Rico , Jamaica , the Bahamas , and the Dominican Republic , but other islands, too. Choose your destination carefully if you want to avoid a frat-party atmosphere.

Caribbean Weather in March

Weather-wise, it's hard to beat March in the Caribbean, where the days average about 83 degrees Fahrenheit (28 C) and it only drops to about 73 F (23 C) at night. Rainstorms tend to be few and far between except perhaps in Bermuda , which gets an average of 4.3 inches of rain in March.

Northern island temperatures increase slowly from the cooler winter months, while southern islands becoming blistering hot spots in no time at all. Ocean temperatures increase as well, with the water warming up to anywhere between 76-78 F (24-26 C).

What to Pack

This is the dry season in the Caribbean, so moisturizer is more important than ever (lip balm, too). Light cotton clothing for daytime, and a sweater or sweatshirt for the evening. You’ll also want to pack dressier clothes for visiting nice restaurants or clubs—and bring more formal footwear than just flip-flops and sneakers.

For the ladies, bring along a small pocketbook, to keep track of money, cell phone, etc. without having to drag around your normal-sized purse. For gents, always carry your wallet in your front pocket of your slacks if possible, especially in the more busy areas to avoid any possible pickpockets. In heavily populated and metropolitan areas, it is always better to take extra safety precautions .

March Events and Festivals in the Caribbean

  • St. Patrick's Day is celebrated in only a couple of islands—notably Montserrat and St. Croix—but makes for a unique and memorable Caribbean experience.
  • The Caribbean is a very Catholic region, so there's also any number of Easter celebrations and parades in the islands when the holiday falls in March.
  • Bermuda International Film Festival shows more than 80 independent films over nine days in March. Features, documentaries and short films are screened at four theaters on  Bermuda , and the program also includes chats with filmmakers, parties, and more.
  • The St. Thomas International Regatta takes over the U.S. Virgin Islands in March. It is one of the world's best competitive yacht races and is based at the St. Thomas Yacht Club, with major social events at the Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas.

March Travel Tips

  • This is prime time for Spring Breakers and snowbirds to escape the cold and head to the islands, so expect more crowds on the beaches and around the pool.
  • It's best to arrange flights, hotels, and activities as far in advance as possible or you could risk running into sold-out rooms and seats.
  • Brace yourself for extremely high rates as spring is peak tourist season. To get the best deal, book months ahead of time.

Caribbean Weather in March: Climate Chart

Caribbean weather in March offers one of the best times of the year for island vacations because of warming temperatures and low risk of rain.

Most destinations have an average daytime temperature during the month in the low to mid 80s Fahrenheit and upper 20s Celsius. A few such as Cozumel have temperatures reaching into the upper 80s Fahrenheit. These high temperatures usually peak in early to mid afternoon.

The average nighttime temperatures range in the low to mid 70s Fahrenheit or lower 20s Celsius, sometimes going even lower.

Water temperatures usually hover about midway the average highs and lows of the day. For the cooler destinations such as the Bahamas, it is best to wait until afternoon before swimming.

The low risk of rain is another reason why March weather in the Caribbean is appealing for cruise and hotel vacationers. Average rainfall in many destinations is only a few inches a month, unlike the annual hurricane season in the fall and late summer. Some destinations during hurricane season have as much as eight to 10 inches of rain per month.

March also is one of the most popular times to visit the Caribbean for another reason: students and their families on spring break from schools.

All of these weather averages come from historical data of the nations’ government meteorology services.

10-Day Weather Forecasts | See Caribbean monthly weather in: January - February - March - April - May - June - July - August - September - October - November - December

Western Caribbean Weather in March

March is one of the most popular times of the year to take a western Caribbean cruise because of the warming temperatures and lower risk of rain.

The average high temperature hovers around 85 degrees Fahrenheit or around 29 Celsius for many destinations. Rainfall of two inches or less is common during this dry season.

Three of the most popular western Caribbean islands are Cozumel, Jamaica and Grand Cayman.

The average high temperatures for these islands jump several degrees versus February. Grand Cayman still tends to have cooler nighttime temperatures that may make swimming uncomfortable in the morning.

All three islands have one of the lowest average rainfalls of the year at about one inch apiece.

Eastern Caribbean in March

The northernmost destinations in the eastern region such as the Bahamas have the lowest temperatures.

They are good enough for land activities but are sometimes not good enough for swimming. (Note: The Bahamas are in the Atlantic Ocean and near the Caribbean Sea but often are included in eastern cruises.)

While some destinations have only one inch of rainfall or less, the eastern Caribbean has the two rainiest locations. They are Dominica and Martinique, which average five inches each.

Both islands receive high amounts of rain throughout the year and are known as eco tourism rather than beach destinations.

Another consideration is the rain days or number of days it rains each month. St. Lucia and St. Maarten have about 14 rain days, which is not unusual for most of the region during the year.

But it’s well above many other places such as Antigua, Dominican Republic and San Juan. They have fewer rain days per month

Southern Caribbean

The warmest place in March is Trinidad, which also is the southernmost Caribbean island. It has an average daily high of 90 degrees Celsius. But Trinidad is more expensive and takes longer to reach for northerners.

The ABC islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao have the lowest rainfall in the entire Caribbean. They average well under one inch historically and also have historically warm temperatures compared to most other islands.

One of the Best Times to Go

Caribbean weather in March offers an ideal time to vacation in the Caribbean because of warming temperatures and low rainfall. It is one of the best weather months of the year in addition to April .

If it is possible to go on a particular week, consider the later part of the month because temperatures will continue to rise as the region heads into the spring.

In addition, consider the more southern locations because they will typically have the warmest temperatures of all.

What to Wear on a Caribbean Cruise

If you’re taking a 7 day Caribbean Cruise, you’ll need outfits for your sea days on the cruise ship, and other days in port. You’ll also need to plan for evening wear on your cruise .

It’s a good idea to check your cruise line’s dress codes. However, in most cases a 7 day cruise will include 2 Formal, Dress Your Best or Chic Evenings . The other evenings will be casual or smart casual dress.

If your cruise is 5 nights or less, you’ll only need one formal attire outfit or there may not be a formal evening at all. However if your cruise is 10 nights or longer, you can expect an extra chic night. Keep in mind that cruise line dress codes apply in the main dining room, and not the buffet and casual restaurants.

It’s surprising, but most cruise ship cabins have only 2 electric plugs. If you’re bringing electronic items like phones, pads, speakers, go-pros and anything else, you’ll really want more plugs.

Very important – Cruise lines won’t allow you to bring a regular surge-protected power bar from home and it will be confiscated . It’s very important to have a non-surge protected one that is “cruise approved”.

A lanyard holds your cruise card both on the ship and in port, keeping your hands free. It’s one of the most useful items to bring on a cruise.

Bonus – you can actually pick your own design or theme, which makes it a fun item to take on a cruise vacation!

Recommended:   Cruise lanyards

8. Cruise Luggage Tag Holders

Your cruise luggage tags will need to be printed, then folded and stapled and put on your luggage. While this is perfectly fine, the paper can be flimsy and it takes time to do this the morning of your cruise.

Luggage tag holders are reusable, and truly one of the best cruise accessories you’ll ever have. They’re available for every cruise line (in wide or long sizes).

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Plastic Sleeve luggage tags (check link for specific cruiseline options)

9. Medication (prescription & over the counter)

Make sure to pack both prescription and over the counter medications. It’s a good idea to pack a small pharmaceutical bag or DIY first aid kit with bandaids and other useful items.

For a complete list of items to pack in your cruise first aid kit, please see this post:  31 Cruise First Aid Kit Essentials To Bring on Your Cruise

10. Reef safe Sunscreen

One item not to forget to pack for your Caribbean cruise is sunscreen. The sun is much more intense on the cruise ship, especially when at sea.

Unfortunately, my husband learned his lesson the hard way 😉

march caribbean cruise

11. Lip balm with SPF

I always pack several lip balms when we go on a cruise, for each member of the family – you don’t want to forget these. Trust me – lips can burn and swell up, which isn’t pretty or comfortable.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended:   Banana Boat Lip Balm SPF 50

12.  Aloe Vera – After Sun Care

If you do get a bit too much Caribbean sun, you’ll be happy to have non-sticky aloe vera after-sun gel that will ease a sunburn. While sold on the cruise ship, it will be more expensive than planning ahead.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Organic Aloe Vera Gel (see almost 50,000 amazing Amazon reviews)

13. Polarized Sunglasses

This selection of fashionable polarized sunglasses for men and women on Amazon is so reasonable. If you need some sunglasses to bring along on your Caribbean Cruise, check out the awesome styles.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended:  Polarized sunglasses (see awesome choice of fashion brands here)

13. Insect Repellent

While you’re unlikely to need mosquito or bug spray if you stay near the port or head to a beach, you’ll need it for some shore excursions . If you’re heading into the forest, like going zip-lining or river tubing, bring along insect repellent.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended:  Deep Woods Insect Repellant (see reviews here)

15. Beach Bag

Bring along a good quality waterproof, zippered beach bag that can hold all your towels, sunscreen, water bottles etc. This is the bag we use, and it actually doubles as our carry on bag for Caribbean cruises. You can find more beach and tote bags for all your needs in this post .

march caribbean cruise

Recommended:   Large zippered nautical beach bag

16. Waterproof Phone Case

It’s a good idea to bring a waterproof phone case on your cruise, for sea days by the pool as well as port days by the beach. This one includes the ability to use the touch screen as well.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Waterproof Phone Case with cruise lanyard

17. Seabands

Make sure to have some motion sickness remedies, as it’s always possible to be affected by some seasickness during your cruise .

Seabands are a practical, natural remedy for many experienced cruisers.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Seabands (see both adult and children’s sizes on Amazon)

18. Seasickness Medication

Bring along some Bonine or other seasickness medication, in case you feel some motion due to rough seas. It’s handy to have just in case.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Bonine seasickness tablets

19. Ginger Candies

Ginger candies are a natural way to ease an upset stomach or mild motion sickness on a cruise . They’re great on tenders and small boat excursions as well.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Tummydrops ginger candies

20. Snorkel and Mask

If you’re planning on heading to the beach or boat excursion, you’ll want to bring your own snorkel set on your cruise. It can be used again and again, and will likely be one of your favorite things ever!

march caribbean cruise

Recommended:   Check out the Amazon reviews for this full face mask style snorkel set (to see why people are loving it)

Packing for your Caribbean cruise

21. Towel Clips

While pool and beach towels are provided by the cruise line, so no need to pack these, they just won’t stay put without towel clips . Caribbean cruises are breezy!

Beach and pool towel clips are available in different styles (flamingo, margaritas, flip flops) are a practical and fun item to pack for your cruise.

march caribbean cruise

22. Towel Bands

Save space with these cute and practical towel bands , a good alternative to towel clips.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Towel bands (see variety of fun styles)

23. Refillable Water Bottles

I love these space-saving roll-able and collapsible water bottles. While obviously convenient on the cruise ship, more than that I love how they don’t take room in my luggage or beach bag when not being used.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Collapsible 20 ounce water bottles

23. Swimsuit Cover Up

A pretty bathing suit cover up is a must-have cruise wear for a Caribbean cruise. You may want to bring a couple for both cruise ship and beach days.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Swimsuit cover up (see different colors on Amazon)

24. Water Shoes

These lightweight water shoes are comfortable and easy to pack for your cruise. Some Caribbean beaches, even cruise line private islands, can be grainy or rocky, so it’s a good idea to pack a pair for everyone in the family.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Water shoes/Water socks (see different color choices on Amazon)

25. Binoculars

Keep your eye out for flying fish, whales and dolphins. Although more common on Alaskan cruises ,  it’s actually possible to see marine life during your Caribbean cruise. However, you’ll want to have binoculars handy whether you’re watching from the Lido deck or your balcony.

march caribbean cruise

26. Waterproof Dry Bag

This waterproof dry bag is perfect for cruise shore excursion days. This best-selling Amazon item comes in a several sizes and colors.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended:   Floating waterproof dry bag (verify price on Amazon)

27. Portable Lock-box Safe

Cruisers often wonder where they can put valuables and identification when on excursions or hanging out on the beach. This useful item has become one of the most popular cruise accessories.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Portable lock box safe (check reviews on Amazon)

28. Portable Phone Charger

While a cruise power bar is important to have, a portable charger is super practical.

We used this one on our last cruise to charge two phones at a time! It was awesome and long lasting!

march caribbean cruise

While not a true cruise must-have, a Go-Pro is a great way to get amazing video footage on your vacation, on active excursions and in the ocean (it goes underwater). If you’re looking for a new toy and want to create a vacation  video or Vlog, you’ll love the image quality of the new Go Pro 9.

You can also pick up a few accessories made specifically for a Go Pro that will be helpful.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Go Pro 9 (see price & reviews on Amazon)

53 Essentials to pack for your Caribbean Cruise

Useful Cruise Accessories

30. hanging “over the door” organizer.

Cruisers swear by the hanging organizer for toiletries and other essentials on a cruise. This can be a great way to keep your cruise cabin organized .

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Hanging cabin organizer (see Amazon link for price & details)

31. Magnet Hooks

I personally recommend these magnetic cabin hooks. When we used them in our cabin on our last cruise, they freed up space in the closet (and on chairs). The small hooks are “heavy duty” so they can hold the weight of a backpack or sweatshirt, but also are a good place to store sunhats and hang bathing suits to dry.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: 6 pack Magnetic Hooks

32. Cruise Approved Power Bar or Cube

This multi outlet cube is a real space saver and absolute essential for cruising and traveling. In contrast to larger power bars, this “cube” is perfect if you’re trying to pack light for a cruise (as it’s so small). Yet it still has 3 electric outlets and 3 USB Ports!!

march caribbean cruise

Tip: Cruise lines don’t allow power bars from home with extension cords, so make sure to pack one like this which is “cruise approved”.

Recommended:  Cruise power cube (check price here on Amazon)

33. Hanging Toiletry Bag

This hanging toiletry bag and organizer makes it so easy to unpack the necessities on a cruise!

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Hanging toiletry bag (over 14000 5* ratings on Amazon)

34. Poo-Pourri Bathroom Spray

This one is well loved and not talked about that often. However, Poo-pourri one of the most popular Amazon cruise products being ordered.

march caribbean cruise

35. Cabin Alarm Clock

If you like to know the time during the night or don’t want to rely on your cell phone, consider a simple travel battery operated clock. A lot of cruisers swear this is one of their favorite cruise accessories.

march caribbean cruise

36. Motion Sensor Nightlight

This portable motion sensor nightlight is so practical and makes a great gift for cruisers . This is especially handy for inside cabins, which will be pitch black when the lights are off.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended:  Battery operated nighlight

37. Portable Fan

Cruise cabins can get stuffy. This small fan is battery operated, but rechargeable, and gets great reviews on Amazon.

march caribbean cruise

38. Packing Cubes

Packing cubes are fabulous for cruises. Consider getting at least 2 sets with different sizes, and color code to keep better organized.

Extra Items to Pack for Your Cruise

Many cruise lines allow you to bring 1 bottle of wine per adult , without charge. You can place them in your carry on luggage. Please check your cruise line policy before you go.

40. Thermal Coffee Mug

This stainless steel tumbler comes with a bonus of stainless steel straws, perfect for cruises which have reduced plastic on board and therefore no longer give out plastic straws.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Thermal Coffee Mug (see color options and 5 * reviews on Amazon)

41. Toiletries

Pack your favorite toiletries . This includes basic items such toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaving cream etc. You may also want to pack perfume, moisturizers and other personal items.

42. Wrinkle Release Spray

You might find that your cruise clothing gets a bit wrinkled as you unpack. Cruise cabins won’t have irons, as they’re a fire hazard – and you can’t bring steamers either.

So, wrinkle release spray is a good way to get wrinkles out of your cruise outfits .

march caribbean cruise

Recommended:   Downy Wrinkle Release (travel size)

43. Tide-to-Go Stain Remover Stick

An essential item to have when cruising and traveling is a Tide To Go Stain remover stick. Inevitably you’ll spill coffee or wine, or get pen marks on white jeans (me!!) and a little stain remover will save your cruise outfits!

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Tide To Go Stain Remover Stick

44. Individual Hand Sanitizer Wipes

Keep individual hand sanitizer wipes on hand for shore excursions and even when on a flight heading to your cruise ship.

march caribbean cruise

45. Mesh Laundry Bag

46. Highlighter & Post it Notes

While your cruise line will have an app to use, you may also like to look at the print version of the daily planner. A highlighter can help to mark off the activities you want to do.

Post it’s are also great to leave a note for your cabin steward .

47. Crew Thank You Cards

If you’d like a place to leave an additional tip or to write a note to your favorite crew members, these thank you cards are perfect.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Crew thank you cards

48. Electronics Organizer Bag

Keep all your chargers, wires and cables together in a small electronics organizer bag .

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Electronics accessory organizer bag (see details & Amazon reviews)

49. Travel blowdryer

A small blowdryer will be provided in your cruise cabin. However the quality will be similar to that of  a hotel. If that’s not powerful enough for you, consider bringing a small quality blowdryer.

This compact hairdryer by BabyLliss Pro works almost as well as my large salon quality dryer, and is perfect to bring along on a cruise.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: BaByLiss Pro travel hairdryer (see over 3000 Amazon reviews)

How to Pack for a Caribbean Cruise

How to pack for your cruise is almost as important as what to pack for your cruise! Here are a few tips.

  • Stack and roll a few similar items together and roll tightly
  • Put socks in your shoes to keep their shape
  • Use packing cubes to keep organized and compress items

These packing accessories will help keep your cruise outfits organized and less wrinkled

50. packing cubes.

While there are pros and cons to packing cubes , they are a very popular travel product for cruises.

Packing cube tips – consider buying at least 2 sets, in different colors. It helps to keep everything organized for each member of the family. As well, take a look at the different sizes available. We found large and medium to be the most useful for most of out clothing.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Packing cubes (see colors & set options here on Amazon)

51. Compression Packing Cubes

Keep organized and fit more into your luggage with compression packing cubes. I love traditional packing cubes (above), and found them very helpful on our last cruise.

I’ll give these compression cubes a try when I cruise again, however if you’ve used them, please let me know and share your review in the comments.

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Compression packing cube set (see reviews & options)

53. Garment Bag

Along with a good suitcase and carry on bag, a garment bag is a must-have if you’re bringing dressy clothes or formal wear on your cruise .

You’ll almost guarantee that your cocktail dresses, dress shirts and suits and suits will be wrinkle free !

march caribbean cruise

Recommended: Garment bag (see 4000 plus Amazon reviews)

Goodness! You pack about 3 -4 times more clothes than than I do. Lots of great ideas though. Keep up the good work.

Lol, I know I really do bring a lot. Thanks for the kind words and for sharing your own experiences!

We cruise for 4 or 5 weeks at a time so use compression packing cubes to save space. I’ve managed to pack enough for 4 weeks ( with some laundry done) in a large and medium pack each. The saved space is then used for sunscreen, toiletries, shoes and all the kit required by my disabled husband. Travelling light isn’t an option for us.

Thanks so much for sharing!

Royal Caribbean Shares Sink Over 5% On Troubling Week

Shares of Royal Caribbean sunk to a one-month low Tuesday morning, dropping more than 5% on the day following a string of troubling incidents, a setback for the world’s biggest cruise line as it looks to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shares of Royal Caribbean fell to a one-month low, though the cruise line’s performance on Wall ... [+] Street remains positive on the year.

Royal Caribbean’s shares dropped to just over $130 Tuesday morning, the company’s lowest point on Wall Street since mid-March, though its shares have rebounded tremendously from its 2020 low of $23.

Despite the setback, the Miami-based company’s shares have climbed nearly 9% on the year.

Royal Caribbean’s disappointing morning on Wall Street coincides with a string of incidents aboard some of its vessels in recent weeks, including an incident in the Mediterranean Sea where a 20-year-old passenger jumped overboard from the line’s Liberty of the Seas during a vacation with his family, prompting a search operation by the U.S. Coast Guard.

That passenger, whose name has not been released, remains missing, while another passenger on a separate Royal Caribbean cruise also remains missing after disembarking during a stop in Cozumel, Mexico.

Last week, the cruise line said it would pay nearly $1.3 million in refunds to passengers who booked trips on the company’s Capital Jazz cruises, as part of a settlement with the Maryland Attorney General’s Office stemming from canceled cruises due to the COVID-19 pandemic

Shares of Royal Caribbean’s biggest competitors also tanked Tuesday morning, with shares of Norwegian Cruise Line falling more than 3% to just below $19 per share, and Carnival Corp.’s stock falling nearly 3% to just above $15.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average has suffered a tumultuous spring, hitting a peak at nearly 40,000 points before tanking over the past two weeks, at one point dropping nearly 400 points on a single day—a 1% drop, amid a decline in a group of asset classes. Despite its successful first quarter, the Dow has since dropped to just over 38,625 points.

Royal Caribbean's family-friendly private island is about to get more crowded with Gen Xers

  • Celebrity Cruises will sail to Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at CocoCay for the first time.
  • The cruise lines target different demographics, but the business case is solid.
  • The private island is scheduled on 47 of Celebrity's itineraries this year.

Insider Today

Royal Caribbean's family-friendly private island is about to get a bit more crowded — with Gen Xers.

On April 21, Gen X-beloved Celebrity Cruises will voyage to Royal Caribbean International's Perfect Day at CocoCay for the first time, marking the start of a Celebrity-CocoCay bonanza: The premium cruise line plans to visit the family-friendly getaway 47 more times before the end of the year.

According to Celebrity, these itineraries will both double its year-round Caribbean offerings and launch its first weekend cruises . And travelers are hyped: A handful of these sailings are halfway or close to selling out.

Fares start at about $277 per person for a three-day roundtrip cruise from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in which the Caribbean island is the only destination on the itinerary.

Travelers familiar with Celebrity and CocoCay might be scratching their heads

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity share the same parent company, Royal Caribbean Group .

For the most part, that's where their similarities end.

Royal Caribbean's private island is a tropical dream for cruising families dotted with sprawling beaches, clubs, a zipline, and a waterpark. The private destination is colorful, loud, kid-friendly, and generally the antithesis of what travelers might find on Celebrity's ships.

Celebrity's stylish vessels do offer children and teen programming. But if you want the exciting water slides, fun rides, and rock climbing walls of the popular mass-market ships, you're better off looking elsewhere.

Compared to Royal Caribbean's ships, Celebrity is best if you want to be on a premium, trendy, and more subdued cruise.

Related stories

If it's not obvious, the two brands are vying for different guests. Royal Caribbean goes after multi-generational families, while Celebrity's target demographic is Gen Xers, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, the then-CEO of Celebrity Cruises, told Business Insider in 2021.

Celebrity sails to 300 ports on all seven continents — why this sudden push for the private Caribbean island?

In short, cruisers love Celebrity's upcoming Caribbean destination .

Last year, Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, told analysts that CocoCay had seen robust demand, including from repeat travelers.

About two-thirds of Royal Caribbean's Caribbean-bound guests will stop at CocoCay this year. And most of them aren't complaining: "The vast majority of people love the islands," Patrick Scholes, a lodging and leisure research analyst at Truist Securities, told Business Insider in March.

But for the two brands' parent company, there are more benefits to private island cruising besides guest satisfaction.

CocoCay is one night's sailing from Florida's major cruise ports, reducing the visiting ships' fuel consumption and costs.

More importantly, these private destinations keep more profits in-house.

A day pass to CocoCay's waterpark can exceed $100 per person. Entry to the recently opened Hideaway Beach costs up to $89 per person. Nearby, an afternoon at the more luxurious Coco Beach Club could be shy of triple that cost.

Even the complimentary parts of the island have splurge-enticing amenities like rentable cabanas and snorkeling gear. And because there's no need to rely on other excursion operators, Celebrity's parent company gets to pocket more profits.

Most of Celebrity's 2024 cruises to CocoCay will be on two of its largest ships: the 3,849-guest Celebrity Beyond and 3,480-guest Celebrity Reflection. That's plenty of guests ready to spend big on the popular private island.

But that doesn't mean Celebrity cruisers will be fighting kids for beach chairs

It is possible to escape the hoards of families at Perfect Day at CocoCay. For example, the new Hideaway Beach is rowdy, boozy, and thankfully adult-only.

While not kid-free, on the other side of the island, the Oasis Lagoon pool has become the de facto hot spot for afternoon ragers "packed with intoxicated people having a really good time" on one end, and children on the other end, Bayley told reporters in late January.

If nothing else, at least there won't be any kids drinking at the island's more than 10 bars.
