Motley Crue Reveals Dates For Final Shows In 2015

By mrm  •  january 26, 2015.

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Iconic rock band Motley Crue announced today on Fox & Friends the details of their final performance. This will mark the end of their touring career and will conclude their two-year Final Tour cycle at the end of 2015 on New Year’s Eve , Dec. 31 at Staples Center in their hometown of Los Angeles where the band’s career began 34 years ago. The band will celebrate this week’s big announcement with a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, Jan. 22.

Motley Crue first announced plans for their two-year Final Tour by signing a Cessation Of Touring Agreement at a press conference in Los Angeles in January 2014, solidifying the end of their Final Tour at the end of 2015.

The 2014 leg of the Final Tour was one of last year’s top grossing tours, selling close to a million tickets across 72 cities and grossing more than $45 million.

“Motley Crue’s Final Tour has been a massive global success and a true testament to the popularity of this legendary rock band,” says Rick Franks, Live Nation’s Regional President of North American Concerts. “New Year’s Eve 2015 will mark the end of an era in rock history but there’s no doubt that Motley Crue’s music will influence generations of artists for years to come.”

After 34 years performing together, the 2015 leg of the Final Tour will see the band play Japan in February, then Australia/New Zealand in the Spring. In June, Motley Crue will say farewell to the European Festival circuit with 3 massive performances at Download (UK), Sweden Rock (Sweden) and Novarock (Austria) Festivals before taking their can’t-miss show back to the U.S., Canada, and Mexico this summer for 34 final North American shows due to tremendous fan demand.

The North American dates will see the band visit cities such as Chicago, New York, Toronto, Atlanta, Mexico City and will be taking place in arenas exclusively to ensure fans in all cities get to experience the full show production of the Final Tour:

“In some of the cities, we could only reach a fraction of the fans who wanted to come see us play last year because of ticket demand so we’re coming back to those places to bring them our full production including the Cruecifly drum coaster, as well as all pyro and every other bell and whistle. Even despite the overwhelming fan demand we can only add so many new cities in North America because of our commitment to take the Final Tour global on our final year,” says Nikki Sixx (bass).

Audiences can also expect a high-energy performance from very special guest  Alice Cooper , who joined the band for the Final Tour in 2014.  He will be tearing up the stage for crowds across North America once again. The pairing has been roundly praised as a must-see by fans and media alike.

The band’s exclusive Fan Club pre-sale for these dates starts tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time, with a special Citi card member pre-sale beginning at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time the same day. Local pre-sales start this Thursday, Jan. 22 at 10:00 a.m. local time before the public on-sale begins on Friday, Jan. 23 at 10:00 a.m. local time; some dates (including the band’s Final New Year’s Eve performance) will be going on sale this Saturday, Jan. 24 at 10:00 a.m. local time. See below for a full list of dates. For VIP packages and ticket information, go to www.motley.com .

Following the North American summer shows, the band will take the Final Tour on more international dates this Fall before “all bad things come to an end” for good on New Year’s Eve 2015.

Coinciding with today’s announcement and the theme of the Final Tour, the band also released its new single “All Bad Things” this morning which is available for sale digitally here: http://smarturl.it/MC_AllBadThings . The single is accompanied by a video clip of highlights of Motley Crue’s 34-year career which premiered today on The Tonight Show’s blog – http://fallontonight.tumblr.com/ to preview the band’s national TV appearance on the show this Thursday.

To give back to the fans for their support over the years, Motley Crue will give away their best selling GREATEST HITS album for free in partnership with Google Play for one week only. About Alice Cooper

Alice Cooper is a true rock icon, having pioneered the use of theatrics and shocking images onstage in concerts from the earliest days of the original band of the same name.  Since going solo, he has continued to produce elaborate stage shows providing fans with both shock and rock of the highest caliber.  Inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, Alice has toured and recorded continuously, with his most recent album being Welcome 2 My Nightmare .  Recorded with longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin, who produced the original ground breaking, multi-platinum Welcome To My Nightmare album in 1975, the album picks up right where they left off, with Alice trapped in his own warped mind.   Alice’s catalog of hits and anthems, including “I’m Eighteen,” “No More Mr Nice Guy,” School’s Out,” “Elected,” “Poison,” and others, are included in his current “Raise The Dead” show, which also features his musical tribute to his fallen friends John Lennon, Keith Moon, Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix.  Currently, Alice’s touring band features the three guitar attack of Orianthi, Tommy Henriksen and Ryan Roxie, backed by bassist Chuck Garric and drummer Glen Sobel.   Additionally, “Nights With Alice Cooper,” Alice’s nightly radio show, is available in nearly 100 cities in the USA, Canada, Australia, and the UK.  The show features his favorite classic rock songs along with his insider anecdotes about many of the artists.

Motley Crue Announce Last Leg of Their Final Tour

Last week, Vince Neil mentioned during an interview that Motley Crue 's last-ever show will be on Dec. 31, 2015, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the city where it all started for them. The band just confirmed the date as part of the last leg of their Final Tour.

The Crue will hit cities like New York, Detroit, Chicago and Atlanta during their last swing thrugh North America. They'll also play Las Vegas sometime between Sept. 10, when they perform in Mexico City, and their final show on New Year's Eve. That date will be announced later. You can see the tour's last-leg tour dates below.

"We've been doing this for 34 years," Tommy Lee told ' Fox & Friends ,' where they showed up to announce the news. "We've done it all. We achieved everything we wanted to do. We want to go out with a bang instead of fizzle out."

"We wanted to go out as the same four guys who went in, with the same spirit," added Nikki Sixx . "We talked about this: 'How can we have a blast doing it?' It's been great. It's been fantastic."

The group -- which appeared on the morning show with tourmate Alice Cooper -- said that 'Home Sweet Home' will be the last song it will ever play and admit that it will be an emotional moment. Sixx even joked that maybe they should skip that one altogether, just so they don't shed any tears onstage.

The group announced its final tour a year ago, when they signed a Cessation Of Touring Agreement at a press conference. They spent most of 2014 on the road playing songs from their past 30 years.

But it won't all be over for Motley Crue after the tour. They're also assembling "the ultimate collector’s album package," which will be released later this year. The album will include the new track 'All Bad Things.'

UPDATE 1/24: Motley Crue have added a second show at the Staples Center for Dec. 30. The full list of dates can be found below.

Motley Crue Add Fall 2015 Leg to ‘Final Tour’

When it's your last time, you might as well make the most of it! And with Motley Crue  putting an end to their touring career, they're making every effort to hit as many stops as possible. The band had already announced a New Year's Eve farewell in Los Angeles, but still had some open spots in their schedule this fall … that is, until now.

The group was scheduled for an extended break after their Mexico City show on Sept. 10, but that break will now be a little less than a month as they've just added another North American tour leg kicking off Oct. 5 in Hidalgo, Texas.

"The demand to add more shows in North America has been overwhelming," says Nikki Sixx . "The fans have spoken so we've been trying to find time for more dates in addition to the international dates on the schedule this year. We want to say goodbye to as many fans as possible so we added these shows around the holidays. No better way to spend them than with the people who have supported us all these years."

All of the new shows will find the band performing in arenas to ensure that Motley Crue are able to bring the full show production experience. Prior to the tour announcement, Motley Crue encouraged fans to share their thoughts on which additional cities the band should visit by using the hashtag #DemandtheCrue on social media. The results were then updated with the use of a heat map showing where the biggest demand was coming from, and that helped the group in booking the new leg.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Alice Cooper will continue to provide support on all shows with the exception of the newly announced Las Vegas performance. After the new leg, Motley Crue will complete their Final Tour with three dates (Dec. 28, 30, 31) at Los Angeles' Staples Center.

As for that rumor about the band performing at legendary Hollywood club Whisky a Go Go after their Staples Center finale, Sixx told the Australian version of Rolling Stone he wasn't sure it was as good an idea as it sounded. "By the time we get offstage and hang out, it will be about 2 o'clock in the morning. Do you want to drive into Hollywood, get there about 4, play at 5AM?' I think I like the send-off at Staples, where we blow the place up rather than kind of hobbling through a set at the Whisky at 5 o'clock in the morning," stated Sixx. "It sounds all romantic, until you really put the pieces of the puzzle together and you go, 'Yeah, it's actually not a very good idea.'"

Mötley Crüe: The Final Tour

Mötley Crüe: The Final Tour

Mötley Crüe w/ Alice Cooper Tacoma Dome, Tacoma, WA 07.24.15

For more than three decades, Motley Crue has been rocking stages and inspiring countless musicians – some of whom formed bands that we grew up with. Sadly, Motley Crue is on their Final Tour, this time with one of the greatest horror rockers, Alice Cooper, and a small band from New York, The Cringe. It was a night full of fireworks, fire, big bangs, hard riffs, smashing drums, and most of all – amazing music that hits home.

The night started with The Cringe, whose singer is a practicing lawyer when he’s not on tour. With fans still moseying in from being stuck in traffic, and those only wanting to see the bigger bands, The Cringe didn’t get much of a reaction overall. But they still brought their sound and played their hearts out.

Next, Alice Cooper took the stage, making a giant entrance once the curtain fell, with sparks falling from the tall rafters of the Tacoma Dome. Alice raised the energy high with some of his hit singles like “No More Mr. Nice Guy, ” “ Poison, ” “ Stone Cold Killer, ”  and many more. Throughout the performance, Alice’s guitarists Nita Strauss, Ryan Roxie, Chuck Garric, and Dis Vicious were all over the stage, revving up the energy with combo guitar solos, high jumps, banging heads, and interactions with the crowd. Not to be outdone, Alice’s drummer, Glen Sobel, had his own hard-hitting solo on the top of a tall riser. But let’s not forget, it’s not an Alice Cooper show without the spooks. So what does Alice have in store for us? During “Welcome to My Nightmare,”   Alice sang with his boa constrictor around his neck. During “Feed My Frankenstein, “  we see Alice get electrocuted with a full size electric board, and with a cloud of smoke, vanishing. A ginormous, mechanical Frankenstein then runs on stage and continues to sing the rest of the song.  But does it end there? No! Alice brings more cards to the table, from being wrapped in a crazy vest, stabbed by a sexy dead nurse, being beheaded by a full-size guillotine, to sprays of bubbles and giant balloons being popped by a real sword and knife, to finally ending his set with lots of fireworks.

Finally the moment had arrived for Motley Crue, with loud, roaring motorcycle engines and hot flashes of red fire, they took the stage with “Girls, Girls, Girls .”  The entire stadium was on their feet, singing and dancing to their favorite tunes like  “ Primal Scream, ” “ Same Ol Situation, ”  and “Smoking in the Boys Room.” Throughout their set, flames and fireworks brought epic rock to life. At one point, Nikki Sixx walked on stage and told the crowd, “All we wanted to be was the knife that cut into your fucking heart”. Nikki left the stage and returned with his flame thrower guitar, lighting his hanging mourning star on fire in the process.  Not to be out done by Nikki, Tommy Lee starts his drum solo while taking a ride on the Crucifly! Traveling back and forth on a tall roller coaster machine, Tommy is strapped into a seat as the Crucifly spins him 360 degrees over the pit crowd and to the sound board, all the while banging along to DJ tunes. Mick Mars then took the stage and gave one long epic guitar solo. Not wanting to be left out, Nikki Sixx and Vince Neil then climb onto their own platforms and are raised high over the side crowds as they play “Kickstart My Heart.”  At the end of the song, the band leaves the stage and walks through the crowd via side stage to the sound board, where they play their final song “Home Sweet Home”   on a rising platform filled with special VIP guests.  Motley Crue ended their set by raining down confetti, igniting endless fireworks, and, of course, the flames of rock and roll.

Be sure to catch Motley Crue on their final journey as they say goodbye!

Watch Mötley Crüe Perform With Machine Gun Kelly at Reunion Tour Kickoff

By Andy Greene

Andy Greene

Mötley Crüe’s long-delayed reunion tour finally kicked off Thursday night at Atlanta, Georgia’s Truist Park. And while drummer Tommy Lee was only able to play on a handful of songs due to a major rib injury , they did have Machine Gun Kelly in the house to join them on the live premiere of “The Dirt (Est. 1981).”

“The Dirt (Est. 1981)” was recorded by the Crüe for the soundtrack to their 2019 Netflix movie The Dirt, which starred Machine Gun Kelly as Tommy Lee. It was, by far, the newest song they played during the show. The rest of the set centered heavily on Crüe classics like “Live Wire,” “Shout at the Devil,” “Wild Side,” and “Dr. Feelgood.” Midway through, they played a medley of covers that included “Anarchy in the U.K.,” Smokin’ In The Boys Room,” “White Punks on Dope” and “Rock and Roll, Part 2.”

The show began with Lee on drums, but he stepped aside after six songs and handed the sticks over to longtime Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath drummer Tommy Clufetos. Lee briefly returned later in the night to play piano on “Home Sweet Home.

“Man ya’ll ain’t gonna believe this shit!” he wrote to fans on Instagram. “I broke 4 fucking ribs! But I’ve been resting and healing and even though the doctors tells me I shouldn’t play at all, you know I’m stubborn and I’ll beast through the pain every show for as many songs as I can!”

This was the first Mötley Crüe concert since they wrapped up their Final Tour on December 31, 2015 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. They signed a “cessation of touring” contract prior to the tour (which was never shown to the media) that they claimed would make it legally impossible for them to play live again once it ended.

“The only loophole is if all four band members agreed to do it, we could override our own contract,” bassist Nikki Sixx told Rolling Stone in 2014. “But we know that will never happen. There are people in this band who will refuse to ever do it again, and you’re talking to one of them. There is no amount of money that would ever make me do it again because I have such pride in how we’re ending it.”

When they announced this tour in 2019, they claimed the renewed interest around the band following The Dirt convinced them to reform. The bill for this tour also includes Poison, Def Leppard, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. They’re going to spend the next next few months playing stadiums all across North America before wrapping up September 9 in Las Vegas.
