Palace put on an ethereal performance. From belting out fan favourites like bitter and live well, to reducing the crowd to a murmur for more intimate songs, the entire gig was spellbinding. The accompaniment of the string section for emotive songs such as bones and face in the crowd was perfectly suited to the stunning surroundings of the Roundhouse. Overall it was beautiful and hypnotic, watching people pour themselves into a heartfelt and sincere performance. The crowd was excellent, and it was wonderful to hear the thousands of people joining in for the last verse of holy smoke. Palace really did themselves proud, and i think it will be remembered as a landmark performance.

Talk about an intimate show. Their playlist consisted of 5 tracks from their new album and two off of their first album. The soundstage was amazing and the vocals absolutely outstanding from Leo. A great performance all around from the band and we even got to meet and greet afterwards. Nice to know that their success has not got to their heads, just genuine nice guys that really engage so well with their audience. Mainstream success has never been more deserved and surely can’t be that far away for Palace!?!

If your still undecided, listen to any of their music and you’ll be hooked. Looking forward to seeing them at the Camden Roundhouse in November.

Following their often melancholic tunes, the performance was energetic and passionate. Even songs I did not know or weren’t my favorites beforehand, sounded and felt great within the atmosphere. Overall an incredible show, with four distinct artists on stage, an audience also young and old, as well as a well-picked location for the size of this concert!

As ever, a brilliant, emotive, vibrant performance. Palace are an amazing band, lyrically, musically and in engaging with the audience. This is the 4th time we have seen them, and we are going again next week. They just get better and better. Give them a listen, you will not be sorry, they are pure quality, a rare find, classics of the future.

Their gig was better than expected! Good sound, nice atmosphere and not only songs worth listening :) A great start of their debut album and tour. Some minor mistakes, but only made it better and unique.

I enjoyed it a lot and looking forward for more Palace in the future!

Great show! Took one or two songs for the sound guy to get the levels right but the rest of the gig was a dream. Have seen this band a few times now and would highly recommend. Great support act too.

Princess Anne to jet off on Royal tour just days before Prince Harry is set to return to UK

Princess Anne will jet off on a royal tour just days before Prince Harry is set to return to the UK.

The Princess Royal will travel to Canada from May 3 to 5 on an official visit to the Commonwealth country.

Prince Harry is also expected to return to the UK only a few days after his aunt returns from her tour for an Invictus Games event.

The Invictus Games 10th Anniversary Service was listed on St. Paul’s website for May 8, and on the official running order, the prince is set to speak at the service.

Harry’s wife, Meghan, is “rethinking” the trip as she doesn’t feel safe returning to the UK after Harry lost a court case over his police protection in Britain, according to a source.

Anne last visited Canada in 2023 when she visited the country twice within one month.

Apart from the date and country, the Palace has not released any further details of the princess’s visit.

In May 2023 the princess travelled to Canada to mark the 175th anniversary of the 8th Canadian Hussars.

Only a few weeks later in June 2023, Anne returned to attend a conference in Banff, Alberta in her role as President of The Duke of Edinburgh Commonwealth Study Conferences.

Princess Anne, who is widely regarded as the hardest-working royal, will be undertaking royal engagements two days before her royal tour and will get back to work on May 8.

On her trip to Canada last year, the Princess Royal was greeted by hundreds of people lining the streets hoping for a glimpse of the royal.

The princess has already undertaken an overseas tour to Sri Lanka and Dubai this year.

LATEST ROYAL NEWS:

・ Anne 'phenomenally popular' as King's sister 'highly trusted'

・ Harry releases video just days after US deportation update submitted to court

・ Meghan adds secret personal touch to her new lifestyle brand

During her visit to the Middle East in February, the royal attended the Seafarers Awareness and Orientation Day in Jebel Ali, a port town in Dubai.

In January, the royal went on a three-day visit to Sri Lanka with her husband , Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, at the request of the Foreign Office.

On their trip, the couple visited the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cemetery in Colombo and concluded the trip by making a speech about the relationship between Sri Lanka and the UK.

Last year, the princess undertook between 12 and 14 engagements in an average week.

Hamilton review – revolutionary musical hits the road with a blazing new cast

Palace theatre, Manchester The new tour of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s blockbuster is delivered by an outstanding ensemble

A s this UK and Ireland tour is launched, it’s tempting to say that Hamilton is back. But Lin-Manuel Miranda’s phenomenal musical has never really been away. Right now there are five rooms where it happens: in New York, Chicago, London and Manila as well as Manchester, where an outstanding new ensemble deliver its irresistible lyrics with verve.

Miranda’s subject is unwieldy – the US’s newfound independence and constitution, seen through the eyes of its first treasury secretary and told in a whirl of rap battles and revolutionary pamphlets, equestrian attire and elegant robes à l’Anglaise. It runs at more than 20,000 sung-through words but what is most striking, seeing the musical again, is the clarity, economy and unity of storytelling in the songs whose phrases return to be cast in a new light.

Miranda has a gift for distilling emotional states – the burn of ambition, gnawing regret, euphoric new love – and for finding, as the song goes, the quiet moments in the eye of a hurricane. In Thomas Kail’s production, co-directed with choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler, the staging is as supple as the verse and propelled by a revolve stage. David Korins’ set design uses unfussy brickwork and wood, the barrels and crates of New York harbour fit for repurpose. The rigging is matched by the sinews of an industrious, bare-armed ensemble who lunge, salute and load invisible weaponry, their moves conveying the triggering of a gun through to the deadly impact.

(from left) Maya Britto, Aisha Jawando and Gabriela Benedetti in Hamilton.

But never mind who lives and dies, who tells this story? In the lead role it’s the assured Shaq Taylor, a revelatory Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar at Regent’s Park Open Air theatre. Taylor convinces as a poetic dreamer, goofball and fervent nation-builder – a man realising his own potential as he strives to do the same for his country. The production has the unusual distinction of a qualified solicitor playing lawyer Aaron Burr. Sam Oladeinde conveys a legal mind at work, lends smooth enunciation to a character defined by his indecipherable nature, and delivers The Room Where It Happens as if possessed. Taylor and Oladeinde, alone but together, perform the ode to parental pride, Dear Theodosia, with fragile beauty.

As Hamilton’s father figure George Washington, Charles Simmons has the right weathered authority and KM Drew Boateng brings gruff-voiced combustibility as Hercules Mulligan. Billy Nevers’ Lafayette appears drunk on his own rhymes before Nevers returns in scintillating form as Thomas Jefferson, voice as smooth as his velvet (costume design by Paul Tazewell).

Sam Oladeinde as Aaron Burr in Hamilton.

As Eliza, Maya Britto builds her young family’s world carefully, ensuring a devastating poignancy when it shatters in the songs Burn and It’s Quiet Uptown. Aisha Jawando, as Angelica, attacks the usually more controlled Satisfied with a fitting rage of frustration. Throughout, lines are given fresh readings by a cast in full flow and full control. Even Peggy is less of a drag here (Gabriela Benedetti, returning as an electric Maria Reynolds).

Daniel Boys’s King George, wearing sparkly crown and shit-eating grin, is every inch the spoilt child. As the bewigged monarch attempts to keep up with the freestyling ensemble during The Reynolds Pamphlet, you have a flash of just how ridiculous an 18th-century hip-hop musical could have looked. But Miranda’s contribution to the “unfinished symphony” of America remains a work of bulletproof brilliance.

Leading impresario and co-producer Cameron Mackintosh said today “I was fortunate to be in the room earlier this week for the start of rehearsals and feel very proud that we will soon have two brilliant companies of Hamilton in the UK - in London at the Victoria Palace Theatre and on tour."

The principal cast will be : Shaq Taylor as Alexander Hamilton; Sam Oladeinde as Aaron Burr; Gabriela Benedetti as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds; KM Drew Boateng as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison; Daniel Boys as King George; Maya Britto as Eliza Hamilton; Aisha Jawando as Angelica Schuyler; DeAngelo Jones as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton; Billy Nevers as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson and Charles Simmons as George Washington.

Shaq Taylor’s West End credits include Beast in Beauty and the Beast at the London Palladium. His other credits include Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and Hadestown at the National Theatre. Sam Oladeinde has most recently appeared in Assassins at Chichester Festival Theatre. His West End credits include Come From Away , A Christmas Carol , The Prince of Egypt , The Book of Mormo n and the original West End cast of Hamilton .

Gabriela Benedetti most recently appeared in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club and Legally Blonde at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.

Hamilton is the story of America then, told by America now. Featuring a score blending hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, it tells the story of one of America's founding fathers, Alexander Hamilton.

Book, music and lyrics are by actor and writer Lin-Manuel Miranda, whose already-thriving career was shot into the stratosphere by its success.

The Olivier, Tony, Grammy and Pulitzer prize-winning musical opened in London in December 2017, where it continues to play to full houses and is currently booking until next March. It also continues to break records on Broadway and throughout North America. An international tour is will begin this week.

Crystal Palace v West Ham United | All You Need To Know

Crystal Palace vs West Ham United Premier League, Selhurst Park, Sunday 21 April 2024, 3pm BST

West Ham United continue their 2023/24 Premier League season with a trip to fellow Londoners Crystal Palace on Sunday, looking to bounce back to winning ways after being knocked out of the UEFA Europa League by Bayer Leverkusen, while righting the wrongs of a below-par performance against Fulham last weekend.

Disappointment at London Stadium on Thursday evening marked the end of another lengthy European run by the Hammers, as they narrowly came up short against an elite opponent at the quarter-final stage.

Having played 33 Premier League matches throughout a congested schedule, only five games remain as the race for European football heats up. David Moyes’ men will be under no illusions of the importance of the Selhurst Park clash as they search for a fourth consecutive season of continental competition.

The sides played out a 1-1 draw at London Stadium in the reverse fixture in December, as Odsonne Édouard’s second half finish salvaged a point for the visitors after Mohammed Kudus opened the scoring.

Oliver Glasner’s charges all but secured their Premier League status for 2024/25 last time out, ending a five-game winless in scintillating fashion, as they stunned title-challenging Liverpool with a 1-0 victory at Anfield.

West Ham fans are advised that the Club’s allocation of 2,687 tickets have sold out.

The first 90 per cent of tickets sold out to Bondholders and Season Ticket Holders with 45+ Loyalty Points. The remaining ten per cent (268 tickets) were then made available by a ballot process to Season Ticket Holders who had yet to purchase for this fixture. The ballot closed at 12pm on Tuesday 2 April.

South London is a nightmare to drive around and parking in the vicinity of Selhurst Park is also extremely limited, so let the train take the strain.

The nearest stations are Selhurst, Thornton Heath or Norwood Junction, all of which are served by London Victoria services and are within 10-15 minutes’ walk of the ground. Both Thornton Heath and Norwood Junction are also served by trains from London Bridge.

London Overground services, which interchange with London Underground Jubilee line services at Canada Water and Elizabeth, District and Hammersmith and City line services at Whitechapel, also serve Norwood Junction.

How To Follow

Sunday's 3pm kick-off will NOT be broadcast live in the UK, but will be shown across the world by the Premier League’s international broadcast partners.

If you live outside the UK, click  HERE  for details of Premier League listings in your territory.

You can follow the action via our live blog on whufc.com and our app, and across our social media channels. We will also have highlights and exclusive reaction for you after the final whistle on our website and social media.

Live audio commentary will be available in the UK on BBC Radio London, and worldwide on our official website and app.

Crystal Palace AYNTK

David Moyes was given a huge boost with the return of Jarrod Bowen for West Ham United's quarter-final tie against Bayer Leverkusen - and the 27-year-old could be involved again on Sunday.

The Hammers will also welcome back Brazilian Lucas PaquetĂĄ and Italy international Emerson, who missed Thursday's clash through suspension.

Nayef Aguerd limped off during the first half of the Europa League contest and will be assessed over the weekend alongside Dinos Mavropanos, Kalvin Phillips and Alphonse Areola.

Oliver Glasner was dealing with a lot of injuries ahead of their win at Liverpool last weekend, with Marc Guéhi, Cheick Doucouré, Sam Johnstone, Rob Holding, Matheus Franca, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and Chris Richards all missing out.

However, a return to the starting XI for Michael Olise proved to be a timely boost for the Eagles, as he started his first game since January, while Jairo Riedewald also made his first appearance in three months from the substitutes bench.

Opposition

The unveiling of SchÀrding-born Oliver Glasner as head coach in February 2024 meant Crystal Palace joined an ever-growing list of top-flight teams to look to the continent for their next appointment.

Palace’s future changed in 90 minutes. Two announcements, separated by the length of a football match. Roy Hodgson, the oldest manager in Premier League history, stood down, while Glasner took over.

Undoubtedly, there was an element of risk in the appointment, with the Eagles parting company with Hodgson in order to bring in the Austrian, but after just two months we are already beginning to see the differences.

In a season where managers from overseas have benefited the likes of Bournemouth and Aston Villa and Brighton, it looks as if an ambitious step into the unknown for Palace is seemingly paying dividends.

When Glasner took over in south London, Crystal Palace were embroiled in a relegation battle after just three wins in 19 matches across all competitions. Now, after handing Liverpool a first home defeat since October 2022 last weekend, their spot in next season’s Premier League is all but secure.

Prior to his arrival in the capital, Glasner made his name in charge of at LASK as both Director of Sport and Head Coach. He was an instant success, winning promotion to the first division at the first attempt, before finishing fourth in the top-flight to take them to their first European campaign since 2000.

Glasner was soon poached by Germans VfL Wolfsburg in 2021, and repeated his European success at the German club, finishing seventh and qualifying for the Europa League during his first season, before making it   to the Champions League the next season, in turn earning the third-highest points total in the club’s history.

A move to Eintracht Frankfurt saw Glasner earn European glory in 2022, one of the finest seasons in the club’s history. After defeating Barcelona in the quarter-finals, then West Ham United in the semi-finals, Frankfurt beat Rangers to on penalties to lift the trophy.

Only eight clubs have been in the Premier League longer than Crystal Palace.

Since the Eagles flew into the top-flight via the Play-Offs in 2013, they have finished in the top half just once and are yet to reach 50 points in a single season and, while that looks to continue this season, there is every reason to be optimistic that one of the Premier League’s longest-serving clubs can better that next term.

Previous Meetings

All of West Ham and Crystal Palace’s last 21 meetings have come in the Premier League, ever since the Irons’ return to the top-flight via the Play-offs in the 2011/12 season.

The Hammers boast a good run of form when visiting south London, having lost only three out their last ten fixtures at Selhurst Park.

The last away win against Palace for the Irons came on New Year's Day 2022 when Michail Antonio’s strike, followed by Manuel Lanzini’s brace, earned a frantic 3-2 win despite a spirited second half comeback by the Eagles. Enjoy the highlights from that game in the video player above.

Match Officials

Referee: Graham Scott Assistant Referees: James Mainwaring and Sam Lewis Fourth Official: James Bell VAR: Paul Tierney Assistant VAR: Eddie Smart

West Ham return to Premier League action three days after the Leverkusen clash, with Graham Scott confirmed as the referee for that game.

The 55-year-old from Oxford has been part of the Select Group of Referees since 2015, having taken up refereeing in the lower leagues in 1997 after calling time on his playing career aged 27 due to a back injury.

Scott has taken charge of 15 games involving the Irons so far, beginning with a first-round EFL Cup clash at home to Aldershot Town in August 2011, and most recently during the 1-1 FA Cup draw against Bristol City in January 2024.

He has been the fourth official at three West Ham fixtures during 2023/24, the last of which saw David Moyes’ men battle to a 2-2 draw against Burnley at London Stadium in March.

palace uk tour 2023

Producers Jeffrey Seller and Cameron Mackintosh  have announced that the multi award-winning smash hit musical HAMILTON  will embark on its first ever UK later this year, opening at the Palace Theatre , Manchester on Saturday 11 November 2023 for a limited 15-week season until Saturday 24 February 2024 , followed by a run at the Festival Theatre , Edinburgh from Wednesday 28 February to Saturday 27 April 2024 .

Further venues to be announced soon. Casting for the UK tour is currently underway.

Tickets go on sale for the seasons in Manchester and Edinburgh on 13 March 2023. Sign-up at hamiltonmusical.com for access to priority tickets.

The Olivier, Tony and Grammy and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical opened at the newly re-built and restored Victoria Palace Theatre in London in December 2017 where it continues to play to sell-out houses and is currently booking until 2 March 2024.

HAMILTON is the story of America then, told by America now. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, HAMILTON  has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre—a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education.

With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda , direction by Thomas Kail , choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler , and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire , HAMILTON  is based on Ron Chernow ’s acclaimed biography. The HAMILTON   creative team previously collaborated on the Tony Award¼-Winning Best Musical In the Heights .

HAMILTON features scenic design by David Korins , costume design by Paul Tazewell , lighting design by Howell Binkley , sound design by Nevin Steinberg and hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe .

HAMILTON is produced in the UK by Jeffrey Seller , Sander Jacobs , Jill Furman , The Public Theater and Cameron Mackintosh .
