Imagine remote islands with palm trees leaning over pristine white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. The Philippines is a country consisting of 7641 islands that not only offer tropical beaches but also rice terraces, hiking, surfing, and great diving. An interesting mix of Spanish, American, and Chinese cultures formed Filipinos into the extremely welcoming people they are today. Discover the best of the country in this Philippines Travel Guide.
Traveling in the Philippines takes time because all islands are divided by the ocean. Experiencing the entire country in 3 weeks is impossible. However, this 3-week route takes you along some of the country’s highlights. This Philippines Travel Guide includes extra time meant as travel time.
Manila, the capital of the Philippines, is where your incredible journey starts. Most people have a love-hate relationship with this city and spend one or two nights here. If you want to explore the city, book a tour visiting the city’s highlights and tasting local food.
Tip: Grab Taxi is a great way to get reliable transportation around the city.
Hotels in manila 😴.
Makati is the area where you need to spend the night and find all the trendy restaurants and bars.
Here are all your hotel options in Makati.
The small fishing village Coron is all about hopping from one stunning island to the other. On the morning of day 2, fly from Manila to Busuanga island, followed by a 30-minute drive to Coron town.
Once you arrive, relax, hike up Mt. Tapyas before sunset, and go island hopping by boat ( book online ) on day 3. You can arrange this in advance or at the harbor.
Must-Try! The Philippines has the most delicious mangos. Don’t miss these!
Hotels in Coron are available for every kind of budget, whether you want something more luxurious or something that’s more budget-friendly.
Tip: The best place to stay is in the center of town; this has the most options, with the only downside that you won’t have any beach near your hotel.
A 4-hour ferry from Coron ( find tickets ) takes you to one of the most stunning locations in your Philippines Travel Guide. El Nido is located on the northern tip of Palawan Island, offering pristine white beaches and paradise islands. You can visit these places by joining an El Nido Island Hopping Tour .
Book your island-hopping tour in advance here
Choose a hostel or hotel on one of the beautiful beaches in El Nido, with incredible views over the turquoise waters.
Tip: You could also choose to stay in El Nido town. Although the town itself used to be a little underwhelming, it has been developing fast and now has some great hotels and restaurants.
From El Nido, drive down to Puerto Princesa to spend the night before catching your flight to Cebu.
Find your flight to Cebu
Getting to El Nido is possible by van or public transport. In Puerto Princesa, we highly recommend visiting the Iwahig Open Prison and having dinner at Kalui.
Good to know: Unfortunately, the standard Filipino kitchen isn’t that great. Rice and pork or BBQ chicken are the typical dishes. However, at popular restaurants, it is an entirely different world.
Puerto Princesa has plenty of hotels to choose from that are perfect for spending the night before your journey to Cebu.
Did you know? Puerto Princesa is known as ‘the city in the forest’ because of its luscious greenery and tropical atmosphere.
Cebu is one of the main islands and transport hubs of the Philippines. Arrive in Cebu by airplane from Puerto Princesa in the morning of day 8. Directly hop into the bus or car and make your way down to Moalboal. The following day, go Canyoneering in Badian and jump off the Kawasan Falls!
You can stay in Moalboal or Cebu City for your canyoning trip. Moalboal is the most convenient as it is very close to Badian, but keep in mind that this cheaper option can be fully booked due to the lack of accommodations.
Alternatively, stay in Cebu City, which, although quite far away from Badian (around a 3-hour drive), has the option of free pick-up and drop-off (with Island Trek Tours).
Discover the unique landscapes of Bohol with rice terraces, chocolate hills, and white sand beaches. But what makes Bohol unique is the Philippine Tarsier. Tiny, monkey-like animals that move during the night. Book a day tour to explore all the highlights of Bohol. It is a short 2-hour ferry ride from Cebu to Bohol.
Get your boat tickets in advance
The endangered Tarsiers are extremely sensitive to light and sound. Only visit the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary, where you’re not allowed to touch, talk to, or photograph them with flash. If you see tarsiers in cages, that’s not OK! Learn more about responsible wildlife tourism .
Are you interested in visiting churches? Bohol has plenty! Did you know? The Philippines is the only Christian nation in Asia.
Bohol’s beauty makes it a hotel paradise! From luxury spas to cute guesthouses, there’s something for everyone on the island.
Majestic waterfalls, the friendliest Filipinos, and beautiful local life. The island of Siquijor is stunning to explore by motorbike in a 2-hour drive. Read about all the things to do in Siquijor .
From Bohol, take the 1.5-hour ferry to Siquijor.
Book your tickets for the ferry here .
Most hotels are located on the western coastline of Siquijor or in the town of San Juan (which has the yummiest restaurants!).
While you’re still buzzing from the incredible last 15 days, it’s time to head back to Cebu to catch a flight to Siargao. Getting back to Cebu is a long trip, but it’s worth it for the next part of your itinerary.
Spend the night in Cebu City and fly out to Siargao the next morning. Please note: If you’re planning to fly to Siargao, keep in mind that evening flights are often canceled. The Siargao runway does not have lights yet (April 2019).
Welcome to the ‘Most Beautiful Island in Asia’. Siargao has the perfect island vibe with great beaches, surfing, scenic drives, island hopping, incredible food, and a chilled vibe. You could easily spend a week in Siargao.
Read more: best things to do in Siargao
There are three main tourist towns: General Luna, Dapa, and Pacifico. Dapa and Pacifico are quieter, and General Luna offers the best restaurants.
Spend your last day in Manila. We recommend you be back in Manila at least 10 hours before your international flight back home leaves. Why? Most flights in the afternoon are delayed. We have been to The Philippines twice and had just two flights leaving on time or too early, haha.
Food rec: On your last day, visit Hummus Elijah in Makati!
If you have more or less time available, use one of the following options in your Philippines Travel itinerary.
The Philippines is a budget travel country. It is affordable to get around, and there is accommodation for every kind of budget. However, the prices for accommodation are a little higher compared to Indonesia or Thailand . If you’re on a tight budget, take the overnight ferry instead of an airplane and travel by bus. The currency in the country is the Philippine Peso (PHP, ₱).
Travel on a budget in The Philippines, from $180 − $350 USD weekly per person, mid-range $320 − $180 USD, and high-end from $180 − $240 USD. However, costs depend on factors like accommodation, transportation, and activities. We did not include flights. Check flight prices here
Wifi is something you cannot relate to in the Philippines. It is unstable, and if they offer it, it’s usually not fast. We always recommend getting a SIM card to use Google Maps or make phone calls in emergencies. It is best to get a GLOBE or SMART SIM card (9GB for 1000 PHP) and top it up once you’re out of data.
Get your Sim Card here
Transportation in the Philippines is well-arranged and affordable but time-consuming. Travel overland by taxi, tricycles, jeepneys, buses, and minivans and go from island to island by boat or airplane.
Flights Flights go as often as buses in the Philippines to cross to another island. Flight delays are common, so it is recommended never to book too tight with connecting flights or activities.
Boats and buses Ferries to cross to a different island are very common. Taking an overnight ferry can reduce costs on your travel budget. Booking boats and long bus rides in advance is common.
Book your tickets online in advance
Tricycle To cover short distances, a tricycle is very convenient. The vehicle is kind of a 3-wheeled tuk-tuk. You have to bargain with this kind of transport. Our rule of thumb was 100 PHP for 2 persons, including luggage for a 10-minute drive.
Motorbike In the main tourist areas (not cities), we recommend renting a motorbike and driving around by yourself. The price for tourists is about 400 – 600 PHP (±9 USD) per day, depending on the season.
From December to April, during the dry season, is the best time to visit the Philippines. Where March to May are the busiest and most expensive months. It is best to avoid traveling there from July to October when the typhoon season is active.
Always do your research per location. For example, El Nido and Siargao have two completely different seasons at the same time of the year.
Through media, the Philippines is commonly illustrated as unsafe and a no-go destination. However, that’s not true. The deep southern tip (Mindanao area) of the Philippines is the only no-go area due to possible terrorism. The rest of the Philippines is safe.

It breaks our hearts to hear that people don’t visit the Philippines because of these stories. Why? The Filipino people are some of the friendliest in Southeast Asia. Although Tagalog is their first language, everyone understands and speaks English, which makes it even easier.
Most nationalities will receive a 30-day Visa on Arrival when flying to the Philippines. The only requirements are that your passport is valid for at least 6 months and that you must have an outbound ticket that will show you’re leaving the country within those 30 days. A standard visa is extendable up to 60 days.

It is recommended to only pack in a backpack? We are planning a trip to the Philippines , leave this week. My husband is thinking that us two plus our 10 year old son need to pack in 1 backpack so when we rent a motorbike that we can just have that for luggage and make it easy getting around.
Hi Ashley, we typically travel with a big bag each. There are many taxis, tricycles, jeepneys, buses, and minivans that can transport you and your luggage to your accommodation, then hire a motorbike once you’ve dropped your bags off. Have an amazing trip! :)

Very nice trip. The tours are good. The city tour in puerto Pricessa was very poor.

Guide to the Philippines has really helped me to get around Palawan, and always making sure if I was comfortable. That was really nice! Hotels -Hue hotel was perfect! Very nice and comfortable, and great styling. The food was super, and the staff nice. The breakfast options were amazing!!! -For the budget option i was supposed to have another hotel, but because it was so busy, I had to switch to Marianne hotel. A hotel that is not finished yet, and still under construction, so no pool and quite some noise and building site smells. Room was all right, but the cleaning could have been better (water stains on mirror and such). Breakfast was not so good, the second day I even chose to have it somewhere else. Transport The transport was arranged perfectly! Nice drivers and on time. Tours - underground river was amazing! Otherworldly! We were lucky because of the weather, other ones were canceled. Lunch was ok. Apparently people could choose an add on to this tour, and go ziplining. Some chose to do this, resulting in having to wait for quite a while. Could have done without that, -honda bay tour was super! The lunch they prepared was absolutely lovely, and the guide took well care of us. We saw some lovely islands and beautiful beaches! Good atmosphere! - Tour C El Nido : i was supposed to be on another tour but in all confusion, i ender up on this one. It was too crowded, and the boat with 30 capacity had 43 tourists on it. After asking, they had to get extra life jackets from another boat. It was not comfortable with so many people on the boat and on the islands. It really was mass tourism, but at least I saw the beautiful nature! All in all, I am very happy I had the help of Guide to the Philippines and would definitely book again! But no more El Nido! Thank you!

Notice of itinerary change arrived the day before our tour started! Despite having booked and paid 2 months previous, island flights had not been booked. This meant two boat tours on successive days, no rest day and first destination cut short. Too long at the following hotel ( which had a bad drain smell) and a late flight to Manila , this meant hanging around and then arriving 8pm in the dark. Extremely unprofessional. We asked for assistance to book four days following our island tour, a reservation was made and cancelled on our way back to Manila, we made our own reservation. The on site agents were polite and punctual. The weather was nice.

10/10 My partner and I are seasoned travellers and usually plan our own holidays. However both of us had extremely hectic schedules in the back end of 2023 and so we went outside of our comfort zone and booked an entire 2 week island hopping tour of the Philippines through Guide To The Philippines (GTTP)! I have to say at first it was pretty daunting, handing over our precious holiday to someone else, but we are SO GLAD WE DID!! This is a team of passionate professionals who did absolutely everything they could to ensure we had a fantastic holiday! The tour itself was incredible, we did the 12-Day Puerto Princesa, El Nido, Coron, Cebu & Siargao Island Hopping Philippine Tour Package experience; possibly a bit too hectic, as we also bolted on all of the additional extras, but that was more us, biting off more than we could chew and in hindsight we don’t regret a thing! I am going out of my way to especially say that you are in very safe hands with the GTTP team! Here is what I experienced: 1. Excellent communication - the team write better English than most native speakers. I never had a language barrier. 2. Efficient - emails were responded to quickly and left no stone unturned, so no constant back and forth 3. Professional - always maintained professionalism, despite I was high maintenance from time to time and they may have wanted to kill me at times (lol) 4. 24/7 - I had support around the clock via email, WhatsApp and iMessage 5. Account Management - not sure if it’s intentional, however we seemed to have one particular agent who took care of most things, like she was assigned to us. Her name was Richel and she is just incredible! You are in fantastic hands if Richel is on your side!!! That said, if Richel was away, the other team members took great care of us also 6. Caring - I felt like I was being taken care of and they were always one step ahead and it filled me with confidence and joy to know they had my best interests at heart. 7. Good Value - Whilst on the tour you get an idea of pricing for each component and given the level of service we received this was incredible value We chose the comfort accommodation package and with the exception of one, the hotels were incredible! We provided feedback to GTTP about the hotel that wasn’t great, and they are looking into it. GTTP literally took care of every single component of our tour. We had daily emails explaining the itinerary for the day ahead with contact details for the tour providers and transport providers. All of our internal flights were organised perfectly. You will be very well taken care of if you choose to book a trip in the Philippines with GTTP. I have not been incentivised or pressured to write this review. It’s just so great to have an exceptional customer experience like my partner and I have had in the lead up and during our holiday! Thanks GTTP and especially Richel for being awesome and having curated a trip and a thousand memories that we will never forget!!! Luke, 40 Australian Eduardo, 39 Colombian

The Travel Quandary
You’ve purchased a new bikini, popped your sunnies on your head, thrown in your beach towel and packed your passport. You’re more than ready to do some sunbathing, drink fresh coconuts every day and go snorkelling with the incredible marine life. The Philippines will provide this and so much more. But make sure you’ve budgeted enough to ensure that you will have oodles of fun and not be left stranded in a tropical paradise sans money.
We’ve compiled a detailed list of our Philippines travel costs that we incurred during our 10 day trip. We visited Siargao, El Nido and Coron. If you plan on visiting other islands in the archipelago, let this post be a guide to help you prepare your Philippines travel budget.
If time is of the essence and you have a few more dollars up your sleeve, flying between the islands will be the fastest and most convenient mode of transport but also the most expensive. The two key airlines in the Philippines are Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific . We’ve provided details of the flights that we booked during our 10 day trip.
Remember! Where you can, purchase carbon offsets with airlines and do your bit for the environment.
Flying Cebu Pacific
x2 flights, x2 people, checked baggage
AUD $276 | USD $189 | GBP £147 | EUR €170
Flying Cebu Pacific
x1 flight, x2 people, checked baggage
AUD $255 | USD $175 | GBP £136 | EUR €158
Flying Air Swift
x1 flight, x2 people, checked baggage (10kg limit per person)
PHP ₱13,980
AUD $400 | USD $273 | GBP £213 | EUR €246
AUD $208 | USD $142 | GBP £110 | EUR € 128
Unless you’ve pre-arranged transport from the airport or ferry terminal to your hotel, you will be subject to the prices of hotel transfers set by drivers waiting in the pick up area.
During our 10-day trip in the Philippines, we paid for hotel transfers in Manila, Siargao, El Nido and Coron, travelling via minivan, taxi and tricycle. In some instances, you will be able to haggle the price down, but in many cases, transfers are fixed prices.
Airport to Hotel – Taxi Transfer
AUD $5.80 | USD $3.90 | GBP £3.05 | EUR €3.50
Be careful in Manila. Taxi drivers are supposed to run fares on their meters but they are notorious for claiming malfunctioning machines and/or will bargain a fixed fare with you instead.
We had come off the back of travelling almost 30 hours to reach Manila and even though our hotel was just across the road from the airport (we basically could have slept at the airport because we needed to be back there less than 8 hours later), we were in no mood to argue and agreed with the fixed rate proposed by our taxi driver. If you are travelling further into town, insist that the driver runs the meter.
Airport to Guesthouse – Shared Minivan
PHP ₱300 pp (one-way)
AUD $8.55 | USD $5.85 | GBP £4.55 | EUR €5.30
Majority of transport from the airport to General Luna/Cloud 9 area is via minivan. This is because visitors usually arrive laden with luggage. You’ll be packed in with several other travellers but at least the van is air-conditioned! The journey is approximately 45 minutes – 1 hour and the driver will drop you at your accommodation.
Airport to Hotel – Private Minivan
AUD $ 17.15 | USD $11.70 | GBP £9.15 | EUR €10.55
We arranged a transfer with our hotel from the airport at a fixed price.
Ferry Terminal to Hotel (arrival) – Tricycle
AUD $ 2.85 | USD $1.95 | GBP £1.50 | EUR €1.75
Arriving at the Coron ferry terminal, you will be bombarded with tricycle drivers, yelling at you and pulling at your arm. Don’t be afraid to haggle the price here. We managed to halve ours on the spot. Make sure you agree on the price before allowing the driver to load your luggage onto their tricycle.
Hotel to Airport (departure) – Private Minivan
Our hotel helped to organise this transfer for us at a cost of PHP ₱ 300 per person.
For day-to-day activities, transport is usually by tricycle or scooter. We’ve listed a few of the costs we incurred and some others that you can expect to pay.
PHP ₱1,848 per person
AUD $53 | USD $36 | GBP £28 | EUR €33
We used Montenegro Lines to catch a ferry one way from El Nido to Coron. The journey is approximately 3 hours. You must reserve a seat and collect your tickets from the ferry office the day before you travel.
Land tour of Siargao
AUD $43 | USD $29 | GBP £23 | EUR €27
We hired a driver to transport us around Siargao. We visited Sugba Lagoon, Magpupungko Rock Pools, Messin River Rope Swing. Each of these attractions had their own entrance fees.
Transport between Cloud 9 and General Luna in Siargao
PHP ₱20 – 50 per person
from AUD $0.60 | USD $0.40 | GBP £0.30 | EUR €0. 35
The local taxi service in Siargao is via tricycle. It is simple enough to flag one down on the main road. Prices are generally per person; the higher rates usually apply in the evening or during peak time (i.e. around sunset at Cloud 9).
Nacpan Beach (return)
AUD $34 | USD $23 | GBP £18 | EUR €21
Unfortunately, the trip from El Nido to Nacpan Beach is not the most comfortable in a tricycle as it was quite a snug fit for the two of us. The last 15 minutes of the journey is also on an unpaved, rocky road but the incredible, jaw-dropping sunsets and quiet beachfront makes the bumpy trip more than worth it. There are shuttle buses which complete the same journey from El Nido for the same price (PHP ₱600 per person return), however, you are restricted to set departure times.
PHP ₱350 – 500 per day
from AUD $10.00 | USD $6.85 | GBP £5.30 | EUR €6.15
The rental price varies from island to island and this is based on information from fellow travellers. We didn’t hire a scooter ourselves based on our experience in Nusa Penida, Indonesia.
PHP ₱55 per litre
AUD $1.57 | USD $1.07 | GBP £0.84 | EUR €0.97
There is a range of accommodation across the islands from budget hostel rooms and cheap homestays to upscale 5-star resorts. We selected varied accommodation during our trip, choosing to save money in Siargao but splurging in El Nido.
Based on our experience, the standards differed dramatically. However, despite the price difference, all the accommodation we stayed in was always clean and tidy with helpful staff. You can search for a deal on Agoda, Hostelworld or Airbnb.
Nine Clouds Homestyle Accommodation
Double Room with Fan, Shared Bathroom
4 nights, 1 room
AUD $86 | USD $59 | GBP £46 | EUR €53
Bella Athena Garden
Double Room, Air-Conditioned, Private Bathroom
PHP ₱20,000
AUD $571 | USD $390 | GBP £304 | EUR €352
Argamosa Bayside Inn
Superior Double Room, Air-Conditioned, Private Bathroom
2 nights, 1 room
AUD $130 | USD $90 | GBP £70 | EUR €80
From fresh tropical fruit drinks to cold bottle of beers, colourful halo-halo dessert and scrumptious BBQ dinners – this is what you should eating in the Philippines.
Buy it fresh from a stand and it will be cheaper. Restaurants and cafes add a mark-up. Say no to plastic straws!
PHP ₱50 – 120
from AUD $1.40 | USD $1.00 | GBP £0.75 | EUR €0.90
Cold and refreshing and damn delicious. Other flavours include coconut and pineapple. Say no to plastic straws!
AUD $4.30 | USD $2.90 | GBP £2.30 | EUR €2.65
San Miguel is the local beer. Always cheaper buying from the beach shacks than in a restaurant.
PHP ₱60 – 120
from AUD $1.70 | USD $1.20 | GBP £0.90 | EUR €1.05
Watch out Bali. The Filipino smoothie bowls are becoming some serious competition in terms of aesthetics and flavours. The best smoothie bowls we ate in the Philippines was at Shaka Cafe .
AUD $7.15 | USD $4.90 | GBP £3.80 | EUR €4.40
From an espresso to a latte, we made sure we scoped out the best places for caffeine.
PHP ₱100 – 120
from AUD $2.85 | USD $1.95 | GBP £1.50 | EUR €1.75
When surrounded by the ocean, fresh seafood is always close by.
The technicolour Filipino dessert is a concoction of crushed ice, evaporated milk, purple ube, sweetened beans, coconut strips, sago, gulaman (seaweed gelatin), pinipig rice, fruit slices, flan and topped with ice cream. Don’t turn your nose up too soon – give it a go! It’s refreshing and delicious.
AUD $2.30 | USD $1.55 | GBP £1.20 | EUR €1.40
In El Nido, we recommend Stix & Cones .
In Coron, we recommend Pedro’s Gelato .
PHP ₱100 – 150
A boodle fight in Filipino culture is the military practice of eating a meal. This type of meal dispenses cutlery and diners are encouraged to eat with their hands. We visited Boodle Fight Resto & Bar in El Nido and ate the Boodlefight Special (all meat) served with rice and salad for x2 people.
AUD $11.30 | USD $7.70 | GBP £6.00 | EUR €6.95
For two people, you can eat like royalty without breaking the bank. BBQ dinners ended up being our favourite and you can usually watch your meat, seafood and vegetables being cooked on the grill before coming straight to your table.
PHP ₱450 – 650
from AUD $12.90 | USD $8.80 | GBP £6.85 | EUR €7.95
You’re surrounded by water so most of the activities are water-based. Island-hopping is by far the most popular.
Three Islands Tour
PHP ₱1,500 (per boat)
AUD $ 43 | USD $29 | GBP £23 | EUR €26
There are fewer boat tours from Siargao and the most popular is a half-day tour to Guyam Island, Naked Island and Daku Island. No lunch included. You can only buy food and drink on Daku Island. We did see boats transporting groups of tourists to these same islands so if you choose to visit the islands this way, we expect the price per person would be less.
PHP ₱7,000 (minimum)
from AUD $200 | USD $137 | GBP £107 | EUR €123
If you are travelling with a group of friends, a private boat tour is cost effective and allows a fair bit of flexibility. Ours included lunch and an additional pit-stop but this came at an extra cost in terms of money and time.
Group boat tour (el nido).
PHP ₱1,200 – 1,800 per person (tour dependent)
from AUD $ 35 | USD $23 | GBP £18 | EUR €21
In El Nido, we opted to participate in a group tour with El Nido Boutique & ArtCafe and selected Tour D. We got quite lucky as this tour only had 8 people including ourselves. Lunch and unlimited water included.
PHP ₱1,200 – 2,000 per person (tour dependent)
In Coron, we selected the Ultimate Islands Escapades Tour. We got unlucky as this tour had 21 people on the boat including ourselves. Hotel pick-up and drop off, lunch and unlimited water included.
We found that snorkel mask hire was always an additional extra on boat tours. If you have your own pair plus room in your suitcase, we recommend bringing your own.
PHP ₱2,000 – 2,500 (2 pax)
from AUD $57 | USD $39 | GBP £30 | EUR €35
One of the most popular attractions to visit from Siargao is Sugba Lagoon. There are 6 tour options to choose from that are organised from Del Carmen. The cost that we have listed is the amount that we paid for Tour C for two people as well as the environmental tax of PHP ₱200 per person.
PHP ₱500 (full day) PHP ₱300 (half day)
AUD $ 14.30 / $8.55 | USD $9.75 / $5.85 | GBP £7.60 / £4.55 | EUR €8.80 / €5.30
We hired a kayak from El Nido Boutique & Art Cafe and paddled around the headland to Ipil Ipil Beach and Seven Commandos Beach. We’d recommend packing food as there were only drink shacks on Seven Commandos Beach.
PHP ₱400 per day
AUD $11.40 | USD $7.80 | GBP £6.10 | EUR €7.05
No lack of them in General Luna and Cloud 9. If you don’t have a means to transport your surfboard around the island (i.e. on the side of a scooter), best to hire one close to where the waves are so you don’t have to carry it too far. See below.
PHP ₱200 per hour
For beginners, head to Jackson Trail at Cloud 9 where you’ll find plenty of shops with surfboard rentals and surfing instructions. The guys speak excellent English and are super patient.
Local philippines sim card.
AUD $22.85 | USD $15.60 | GBP £12.15 | EUR €14.10
There are two main telecommunication mobile carriers in the Philippines: Globe & Smart. We chose Globe solely based on the tourist package that best aligned with our itinerary. The package gave us 1,000 text messages (all networks), 500 call minutes (Globe and TM networks only) and 25GB internet for 15 days. In our experience, internet coverage was pretty patchy at times so don’t expect amazing connection or loading speeds if you choose to buy a local SIM.
PHP ₱250 per withdrawal
ATM fees are the WORST. But they’re part of travelling, particularly in countries where cash is king. The ATMs in the Philippines, from our experience and from what we’ve heard, all charge the same flat withdrawal fee with most machines limiting travellers to a maximum withdrawal amount of PHP ₱20,000. You may also find many machines “Out of Order” so for peace of mind, withdrawing cash at an airport is usually a safe bet.
And you should never travel without travel insurance. If you’re sitting on the fence, read our blog post – TRAVEL INSURANCE: SHOULD I, SHOULDN’T I?

What makes the philippines a perfect holiday paradise.
Think of a vacation that has sunshine, beaches, water sports, wildlife, shopping and delicious food in one platter. This is what the Philippines offers and more. A trip here might be a great choice for international holidays. The beaches are white and clean while the water is cool, clear turquoise. The Philippines has an incredible variety of wildlife and marine life. Philippines tourism offers a great opportunity to see volcanic peaks of various sizes. You can see the world’s smallest volcano, Taal, at close range. The climate of the Philippines is conducive to tourism since it is neither too hot nor too cold. A big inviting factor for Philippines tour packages is that the locals are warm and welcoming. Another very comfortable factor is the language. English being the official language here, there is never a language barrier in your Philippines tour.
The best time to avail a Philippines package is during the peak months of December to March. The shoulder months of April-May and November are good enough with cheaper deals. Though you may find some offers shutting down in May. June to October is the rainy season and the Philippines faces a threat of typhoons. Try not to book holiday tour packages to the Philippines during this time.
A tourist visa makes for a valid stay of 14 days for your India to Philippines tour package. You may request an extension of up to 7 days. Special tourist visas are available for stays for 3 or 6 months. Along with the visa, you must produce a return ticket and a passport valid up to 6 months after your visit. Visa fees for Philippines tour packages will be about INR 3000.
You cannot miss the capital city during Philippines tour packages. The modern city has lustrous skyscrapers, parks, malls, hotels and every sign of the modern concrete world. These loom over the foaming waves of the water right next to the land. The city is well-planned and neat making it a welcome place for tourists. Excellent hospitality is one of the appeals of Philippines tourism and you will find the best examples of this in Manila. Manila has an American Cemetery and a Chinese Cemetery. You can visit the Pinto Art Museum, the Ayala Museum, the National Museum of the Filipino People and Fort Santiago.
Located in the Central Visayas Region of the Philippines, Cebu is a cluster of about 150 small and big islands. The beaches are beautiful and there are lots of activities to keep you engaged. There is charming architecture to appreciate as you tour the various islands. Cebu is the most-visited place for most Philippines tour packages. You must find time to visit the Casa Gorordo Museum, Fort San Pedro, Museo Sugbo and Basilica Minore del Santo Nino.
Are you planning to avail Philippines honeymoon package? Book a stay in scenic, romantic Mactan Island. With numerous resorts catering to couples, the island is a relaxing retreat for tourists. Most Philippines tour packages make island hopping tours and shopping in Cebu city easily accessible. There are excellent diving spots for snorkelling. Get charmed with the marine life as well as forests on your tours in and around the island. Take time out to visit the Talima, Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary and Nalusuan Island Marine Sanctuary. Enjoy at the Palace Casino Cebu.
In Palawan, El Nido is the biggest attraction. It is a stunning location on the coral-green ocean waters while on the way to the Bacuit archipelago. Steep, straight limestone cliffs rise right out of the ocean waters. There are many caves and islets around for tourists on Philippines tour packages to explore. While there, try to visit the subterranean river of Puerto Princesa with its limestone karst and underground caves. Palawan also houses a Butterfly Eco Garden and Tribal Village, the Heritage Centre, Palawan Museum and various beaches. Check whether your Philippines package includes Palawan.
This is by far the most sought-after dish in the Philippines that you would savour during Philippines tour packages. This traditional Filipino dish got its Spanish name much later than the origin of the dish. This simple but delectable dish has pork or chicken as its main ingredient simmering in soy sauce and vinegar. Lots of crushed garlic and black pepper lend flavour to it. This melt-in-mouth food item goes best with rice. Since every Filipino family has its own recipe for Adobo, the taste will differ from place to place.
Here is a traditional dish to sample on Philippines tour packages. Sinigang is a sour, savoury stew of vegetables and meat. Spinach, onion, ginger, eggplant, tomatoes and fish sauce are the main ingredients for the base of the stew. You may choose the meat addition according to your preference – fish, shrimp, pork etc.
This is a Filipino take on roast chicken. A speciality of residents of Visayan Islands, this roast chicken is very different from your usual fare. The marination for the pieces of chicken has ginger, lemongrass and calamansi juice among other things. Basted with annatto oil, the roast has a unique flavour and taste. Rice, liquid chicken fat and soy sauce dip make its accompaniments. This is a must-try food during Philippines tour packages.
You cannot wind up Philippines tour packages without tasting an authentic Filipino dessert. Cassava flour and coconut milk are the main ingredients in this baked recipe. Freshly grated cassava and coal-baking are the two factors that lend an enticing flavour to the dessert. Evaporated milk, condensed milk, eggs, butter and sugar are the other ingredients used. The topping is usually a garnish of grated cheddar cheese. The final result is a sweet, cheesy flavour with a chewy texture.
Revel in beach activities in boracay.
This popular tourist destination has one of the best beaches, the White Beach. Stretch out on a hammock and relax here with Philippines tour packages. Enjoy thrilling activities such as scuba diving, snorkelling, jet skiing and fly fishing. This 7 km long island is small enough for kids to explore.
This is a small town located high up on the Cordillera mountains, which is unique for its traditions and surroundings. The sight of age-old coffins tied on the high limestone cliffs of the mountain is eye-catching and weird at the same time. On the scenic side, the cliffs have rice farm terraces cut on the slopes. Utilise Philippines tour packages to explore the waterfalls and hidden caves here.
Being the base location for all nearby islands providing adventure and thrill, Coron is the tourist spot for those seeking an adrenaline rush. Indulge in the activities of mangrove kayaking, motorbiking, jungle trekking as well as island hopping from here. Trek to Mount Tapyas and enjoy the Occam Occam beach. Explore the underwater mountains of Barracuda Lake while on Philippines tour packages.
Visit the Donsol Island for this extreme experience of interactions with whale sharks. These marine creatures are more gentle than sharks. They are larger and slow-moving too. This feat of swimming alongside whale sharks is only possible in this location. So, exploit Philippines tour packages to enjoy this unusual escapade.
Preserve the memories of your Philippines tour with various knick-knacks from the land. Pick unusual and unique commodities such as Banig fabric products made from dried leaves or Abaca products made from the local banana. You may want to own the Philippines conical hat, Salacot, or silky piña fabric made from pineapple fibres. You must buy the traditional bamboo jaw harp called Kubing. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Some of the other reviews had issues with the hotels, I actually thought they were quite quality locations. Each had an attentive front desk, hot water, and amenities were available for purchase. The tour itself packs a lot into a short time frame. I was tired at the end of it, but in a good way. I actually liked that the week ended with the town tour of Coron, because it was a little more low key and less active than the other days, which was necessary.
I was glad to book with you. I had wonderful guides. They were very passionate, interesting and smily. I felt like a VIP guest. This is the best way when you travel alone for the 1St time. The only thing to improve is the hôtel location in Cebu city. I didn't feel safe in this area the night. The breakfast wasn't good too and they asked me to pay the 2nd day because they didn't have the information that 2 breakfasts were included. However, the staff was wonderful. The hostel in Bohol was fantastic. The hostel restaurant was tasty, so yummy. I had the best breakfast ever. The staff was very warm, you really felt like home. Thank you for all these great memories.
well organized and relaxing tours that avoided some of the business otherwise often found in the Philippines, great tour guides, and cosy accommodation at Abraham's
This was a great itinerary! My only regret is that it wasn't longer - Palawan is beautiful and I didn't want to leave. El Nido was gorgeous and in my opinion better than Puerto Princesa. The hostel in El Nido (Our Melting Pot) was great - super social and full of young backpackers. It was also on the main strip, so there were loads of restaurants and bars, and it was about 5 min walk away from the beach. The tour there is just fab and the lagoons are beautiful. Lunch was included (there was a grill on the back of the boat, so we just anchored up in a quiet stretch of water and ate there). In Puerto I did the underground river tour which was amazing and I've never seen anything quite like it. The tour ended a little early and we were given the option to do a zipline from one island to another - so much fun and definitely recommended if you have the chance! The hotel in Puerto was a B&B and was very homely and friendly, however it was a little further away from the centre of town so there were not as many things to do within walking distance. Be aware that this tour is very self-directed and a lot of the time you have to get yourself from Point A to Point B - i.e. you are not ferried around in a group. The tours and transfers are public tours so you're in a group which changes every day, and not in a consistent tour group (which was totally fine for me, but just to be aware of). The transfers between Puerto and El Nido took around 5-6 hours in a van, the roads are very windy and bumpy so it wasn't the most comfortable - but there is a stop half way, and the views along the coastal road were really great. Overall - a great intro to Palawan with some amazing sights.
Generally the itinerary is very good and operating company is willing to assist as possible.
When I found information about this tour to Sagada and Banaue online, it already had such high reviews, but after experiencing the tour for myself, I would rate it even higher! This trip, guided by the wonderful Zohan, is extremely unique in large part due to the personal touches, stories, and intentional cultural experiences Zohan added to the itinerary. Though the tour is listed for all ages, I would specifically recommend for those ages 18-50 or so. There is quite a bit of hiking, walking, an overnight bus both ways, and lots of carrying of luggage. To participate in this trip, one must be eager to learn, open-minded to experience other cultures, and physically fit.
This tour was by far one of the most amazing experiences of my life. This was my first time travelling to a Southeast Asian country by myself but I felt safe and welcomed the entire time. I enjoyed observing beautiful rice terraces, meeting friendly village people, and learning lots about Ifugao culture from my tour guide. The opportunity to stay in a guest house in one of the small villages gave me the chance to truly appreciate the simplistic life of the village people. My tour guide, Marvin Bunaton was a wonderful guide to have. He gave me lots of valuable information about Ifugao culture and made sure I was safe the entire time. I am very lucky to have had him as a tour guide. I recommend this trip to everyone who loves hiking and beautiful sceneries! If I ever come back to the Philippines, I will bring my loved ones and do this tour all over again!

Philippines packages highlights.
The country has an island to suit every taste. With Philippines travel packages that we offer at Pickyourtrail, make your long-lived island-hop on and hop off dream come true and check off that long pending item from your bucket list. Here are some island's you can't resist on your Philippines package.
Palawan Island - An island packed with exotic wildlife, old fashioned fishing villages, and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Palawan is a slice of heaven. Take a guided boat tour on your Philippines tour through the island's wildlife, jungle mountains, and beautiful beaches and get blown away by its beauty on your Palawan tour package.
Boracay Island - Spend an entire day cliff diving and indulging in watersports at Aerial Point and conquer your fear of heights, relax and rejuvenate in the powder-soft sand & crystal blue waters of White beach, go for parasailing & ziplining, & turn strangers into friends going on a Boracay Pub crawl on your Philippines packages.
Cebu - It is one of the Philippines's most developed islands and offers some of the best natural attractions, one of which is the Kawasan Falls. After a canyoneering tour through the Filipino jungle, reach the main waterfalls and enjoy a good swim in its turquoise waters on your Cebu tour package. Also enjoy a hike for a breath-taking view of the sunrise at the mountain range, Osmena Peak and click those million-dollar selfies for your Instagram account.
Bohol - It is 10th largest Filipino island comprising of pristine white sand beaches, lush green forests, and unbelievable underwater life. Although in comparison with other islands Bohol lags behind; its closeness to nature gives it a unique charm. Witness Chocolate hills, that arrived its name from highly unnatural looking dome-shaped mounds covered with grass that dry up in summer and become brown giving it the name it bores on your Bohol tour package.
Tubbataha Reef diving dares, Mayon Volcano’s magnificent beauty, Bohol’s unique Chocolate Hills are some of what the Philippines has to offer. Philippines tour packages should include some wonderful vacation spots and here is a traveller’s guide to skim through for easy Philippines packages planning.
Tier upon tier of tremendous Rice Terraces: Possibly the best place to lay eyes on a trip to Philippines, the Banaue Rice Terraces are dubbed a magnum opus in the Philippine province of Ifugao and they stand tall in their splendour true to the title. Place bets against tearing your eyes from this mammoth of a tremendous landmark, which is an incredible feat to have accomplished by hand-constructing steps to a raging 5000 feet into heaven on sides of the mountains on your Philippines tour packages.
Revel in the wonderful spread of Banaue’s rice paddies along with sweeping fields at Batad, Kiangan, and Hungduan. The road up to the Banaue Rice terraces is streaked with viewpoints which also has a few indigenous Ifugao and Bontoc women donned in traditional wear who are ready for some selfies with admirers of the location.
A little hidden gem in the locality is the 200-feet Tappiya Falls cascading down the gorge and into the must-see category.
Breathe out worries at the Batanes Islands: Such attractive cultures backed with breathtaking landscapes, the Sabtang, Batan and Itbayat inhibited islands slip right into any Philippines travel package.
Skip to the striking beaches of the land to lounge and bask in the sun. Atypical from other Philippine white beaches, the boulders carpeted Chadpidan Beach may not be the ideal spot for a sunbathing but it’s overlooking the west making it the best spot to catch a famously spectacular Batan sunset on your Philippines tour packages, whereas the similar Valugan Beach is the east-facing cousin bathed in stunning sunrises. Sabtang Island is home to a seaside wonder of picturesque foliage-covered limestone arch catching sunsets and hearts across the warm sandy Nakabuang or Morang Beach.
Rolling green hills of the Batanes Islands look right out of the ‘Sound of Music’ movie highlighted best in the Vayang Rolling Hills, the Naidi Hills and the Mahatao Hills, all located in Baten Islands making it a serene paradise that raptures travellers to rest and rejuvenate the wanderlust.
Pleasing Palawan province: Busy and popular is the destination celebrating tourism in Palawan, it is the El Nido municipality, easily the best place for a laidback Philippines tour. Already popular for off-shore islands covered with limestone cliffs overseeing hidden lagoons, the sea-nery is remarkable and is celebrated as one of the most picturesque water views in the world.
Ferry yourself to the peaceful Coron, just as charming as El Nido but strewn with even more terrific underwater views. I would recommend choosing Coron for its other-worldly shipwreck diving, seabeds draped with corals paving way for the perfect snorkelling event to flip your Philippines packages into an extraordinary one. The best spot to snorkel is at the Twin Lagoon, famous for the mix of fresh and salt waters, is worth squeezing through crevices from one lagoon to another and ending in an enticing deep dive snorkelling.
Puerto Princesa Underground River winds down a span of five-miles through caves of limestone karst, best traversed by cruising in guided navigation, sprinkled with fascinating facts about the National Park, and is a popular shoo-in into any Philippines tour packages. Classed as one of the New7Wonders of Nature is this incredible, naturally formed UNESCO world heritage site.
Tropical palm trees? Check. White sand beaches? Check. Crystal clear turquoise waters? Check. Boracay Islands is an ideal paradisiacal island strewn with beaches that are so arresting in their beauty that a trip to the Philippines would be incomplete without a visit to Boracay. White Beach is arguably the most beautiful and frequented but Diniwid Beach, Ilig-Iligan Beach or the Puka Shell Beach cannot be missed on your Philippines tour packages. Boracay’s nightlife isn’t what it used to be due to the negative impact of tourism but the indoor parties still rage on in full effect.
As the saying goes, take only photos and leave only footprints to protect these incredible landmarks and attractions of pretty Philippines. This archipelago’s admirable beauty can be explored to the full extent with Pickyourtrail’s optimisable Philippines travel packages. Say goodbye to worries and say hello to fantastic Filipino venture.
Philippines is best to visit during the dry season. The best time to go ahead with Philippines tour packages is between November - April when the temperatures are cooler and all the islands and the remote areas are fully accessible.
