Pink Announces Summer 2023 Stadium Tour with Brandi Carlile, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo and More

Alt-rock band Grouplove and DJ KidCutUp will also join Pink for the 21-date Summer Carnival 2023 tour

Pink will be flying around stadiums this summer on her biggest United States tour to date!

Fresh off the release of her new single "Never Gonna Not Dance Again," the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, 43, announced on Monday that she'll be embarking on a North American stadium tour next summer alongside opening acts Brandi Carlile , Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Grouplove and DJ KidCutUp.

The 21-date trek, titled the Summer Carnival 2023 tour, will kick off with a July 24th concert at Rogers Centre in Toronto and hit venues in Boston, New York City, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Las Vegas before wrapping up at Chase Field in Phoenix on Oct. 9.

Tickets go on presale for Citi cardmembers from Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. local time through Nov. 20 at 11 p.m. local time. Another presale for members of the Verizon Up loyalty program will go on sale for select shows from Nov. 17 at noon local time through Nov. 20 at 11 p.m. local time. General on-sale tickets then become available Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. local time via Live Nation. More information can be found on Pink's Live Nation page .

Grouplove and DJ KidCutUp will perform as opening acts on all 21 dates, while Carlile as well as Benatar and Giraldo will each appear at select shows.

Ahead of the tour's announcement, both Pink and Carlile, 41, performed a tribute to Dolly Parton at the 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony last week. On Sunday, they teased the stadium tour on social media with a hilarious video filmed backstage at the event.

"Sorry, I'm not trying to ignore you. I just have to make a really important phone call," said Pink in the clip while seated alongside Carlile — before calling the "Right on Time" singer on the phone.

Both musicians greeted each other on the playfully tongue-in-cheek phone call before Pink expressed feeling "really afraid" to ask Carlile a question. "Oh, I'm married," replied Carlile with a laugh, referencing her wife of a decade, Catherine Shepherd.

"Yeah, I do love your wife," giggled Pink, "But will you go on tour with me?"

"F--- yeah!" exclaimed Carlile. "Are we doing this?"

"Yeah!" replied Pink, before the performers shared a high five and ended the pseudo call.

Last week, Pink released her latest single "Never Gonna Not Dance Again" alongside a music video. She'll give the track its live TV debut performance at the 2022 American Music Awards on Nov. 20, where she'll also perform a tribute to the late Olivia Newton-John.

Review: Pink's Summer Carnival tour reaches new heights at PNC Park

Mike Palm

Pink may have made one of the grandest entrances in Pittsburgh concert history Saturday night at PNC Park. And then she raised the bar — literally — with how she closed out her latest show on the Summer Carnival Tour.

The Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter bungeed down headfirst from behind a giant mouth atop the stage, flipping and kicking as the band launched into “Get the Party Started” to, well, get the party started at the packed baseball stadium.

It wouldn’t be the last time the 43-year-old (or members of her entourage) would take to the air in a crowd-pleasing two-hour performance. During “Turbulence,” Pink put on an aerial display that would not be out of place on Cirque du Soleil, as she spun and dangled upside down, intertwined with a dancer at the end. Later, four male dancers took turns defying gravity with a variety of moves on trampolines during “Trustfall.”

Wardrobe changes came quite frequently, with a sleeveless leotard the base layer for the night. Other outfits included a leathery, spiky sequined jacket, a glittery flannel, a feather boa, a leather jacket with giant lips on the shoulders, a silver, shimmering full length robe with a hood, and a pink gown lowered from the rafters.

Gifts arrived on stage from fans — thankfully, nobody threw their mother’s ashes at Pink this time . Notably, she received a few stuffed animals, a hockey sweater and a friendship bracelet … and a bag of Cheetos. Pink opened those and threw a handful to the crowd (awash in pink, by the way) and, about 10 songs later, she munched on them appreciatively.

Between songs, Pink chatted up the audience, taking some interesting detours that sounded like they surprised even herself. Those tangents included what her dad wanted to be reincarnated as, memories of her 21st birthday on tour with ‘N Sync, wedding planning, making demo tapes at the Jersey Shore as a teenager and comparisons to the “Barbie” movie.

“A lot of people have been telling me that I’m weird Barbie. Is that true? I’m OK with it. I’m just wondering,” she said with a laugh. “I always thought I’d be drunk aunt Barbie.”

She jokingly mentioned her love of the outdoors after being attacked by a pair of giant bugs on stage, with one nearly landing in her mouth.

“That thing just pummeled me in the chin. Beetle violence!” she said. “… I do go camping so shut up.”

Pink also lamented songs she wished she had written, like Europe’s “The Final Countdown,” Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” and the “Baby Shark” theme. Another was Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love” re-popularized by Adele, which was the first of three covers in Saturday’s show.

“I don’t write love songs. I don’t know how,” she said. “I try to say nice things, but they just never find their way out of my pen. But other people do it really well.”

Another of the songs Pink said she wished she’d written was “Shadow on the Wall” by Brandi Carlile, who served as the main opening act Saturday. Carlile returned to the stage to duet on “Nothing Compares 2 U,” a tribute to Sinead O’Connor, who died on July 26.

Humor aside, Pink offered some tender moments, like before “When I Get There,” a ballad in memory of her late father.

“We’ve all lost people that we love,” she said. “I think that it’s a suitcase that you unpack for the rest of your life when you lose a parent, and it’s not something I quite understand yet.”

Pink showed she’s still a rock star and she’s got her rock moves, with bangers like “Just Like Fire” that featured perfectly timed pyro, a dive into Pat Benatar’s “Heartbreaker” and an extended band flex of their talents. In displays of her versatility, “I Am Here” felt country-tinged, and songs like “Please Don’t Leave Me” showed off her softer side.

There were plenty of dance-friendly songs, both sonically and artistically. “Raise Your Glass” included dancers hanging from bunches of bananas, “Who Knew” featured a pair of interpretive dancers, and a cover of Sade’s “No Ordinary Love” used three male dancers who moved and morphed with Pink.

Pink soared through most of her hits, like “Just Give Me a Reason,” “Try,” “F—-in’ Perfect” and “Blow Me (One Last Kiss),” as well as a number of songs from her latest album, “Trustfall,” released in February.

Closing the concert with “So What,” a harnessed Pink rocketed high around the stadium, seemingly at the park’s upper deck, going from side to side and covering most of the stadium while singing, swinging and flipping. The impressive display of acrobatics ended with a return to the stage and, fittingly, fireworks.

Carlile, who has nine Grammys of her own, proved to be a strong opener for Pink, with a powerful and passionate voice.

Wearing a bright yellow suit, Carlile and her band delivered a stellar dose of rock, including absolute shredding violin (who knew that was possible?) and guitar on “Sinners, Saints and Fools.” She seemed impressed by the enormity of the crowd at PNC Park: “What a bunch of rad sweethearts.”

Other highlights included “The Story,” “Broken Horses” and a cover of Radiohead’s “Creep.”

Poppy alternative rockers Grouplove, who have drawn comparisons to the Flaming Lips and the Pixies, opened the show with uplifting, sparkly songs like “Tongue Tied” and “Colours.”

Pink's Cincinnati show to include this other Grammy-winning artist

pink and grouplove tour

Grammy-winning singer Pink and her Summer Carnival tour take over Cincinnati today.

Gates to Great American Ball Park open at 4:30 p.m. The first act is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.

But who's opening for the pop icon Wednesday night? Here's a look.

Who's opening for Pink in Cincinnati?

According to Uproxx , alternative rock band Grouplove and DJ/producer KidCutUp will open for Pink on every stop of her 2023 Summer Carnival tour. Grammy-winning singer-songwriter  Brandi Carlile will also accompany Pink for 15 of her 21 shows, including her Cincinnati concert.

Rock legends Pan Benatar and Neil Giraldo will join Pink for the six other dates.

Pink is dazzling, undaunted and often upside down on her enthralling Summer Carnival tour

pink and grouplove tour

WASHINGTON – The opening of a Pink concert is like the whoosh of barreling down a roller coaster track.

It’s an exhilarating and crazy ride with more than a little holding of breath.

In other words: Just. Hang. On.

At the Monday outing of her Summer Carnival stadium tour, a fantastical odyssey stuffed with neon flamingos, giant mirror balls, flying bananas and her ever-impressive Cirque du Everything routines, Pink simply enthralled.

For most of the day, it was questionable if the concert would occur because of a severe storm swarming the district, northern Virginia and Maryland. But while Pink’s set ignited on time, openers KidCutUp and Grouplove were nixed and Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo played an abbreviated set of six songs instead of 10, as they have on previous dates.

Indeed, even post-storm, rain fell in poncho-necessary sheets a couple of times during Pink’s two-hour set at Nationals Park.

But this is a woman undaunted.

In a few weeks, Pink will turn 44. She’s said that she’s in the best shape of her career and her bungee cord flips during the appropriate opener of “Get the Party Started” (spiked with a taste of Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)”) and extra-caffeinated underdog anthem “Raise Your Glass” showcased her athletic bounce.

Pink accomplishes more vocally and visually upside down than most of her upright peers.

A smooth seduction: Sam Smith showcases immaculate vocals, plenty of costume changes on Gloria tour

Even in the conventional position of standing behind a mic stand on firm (albeit, wet) ground for “Who Knew,” the hit maker, in her multicolored sparkly one-piece and silver ankle boots, injected a wink and grin, her voice as muscular as her biceps.

This frisky escapade known as her Summer Carnival launched in June in England before hitting stateside in late July. Pink will bring her funhouse around the country through October before heading out for a month of arena dates for her Trustfall tour, named after her current album.

With a solid pack of new songs to draw from, Pink had the unenviable task of squeezing in a few fresh offerings amid her 23 years of radio smashes.

But the well-balanced set list hit all corners of her career, from “Try,” its massive chorus a perfect singalong fit for a stadium, to the dramatic dance-intensive “What About Us” to the confidence boost wrapped in a song known as “Perfect.” A highlight came with “Just Like Fire,” paired perfectly with Benatar’s “Heartbreaker” and spun into a deliciously frenzied blast of electric guitar and attitude.

Pink also managed slots for a couple of covers – a sweet, Pink-i-fied version of Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love” (though she said Adele’s rendition is what caught her attention) played on piano and a sensual read on Sade’s “No Ordinary Love.”

During a quieter segment of the show , Pink was joined by her adorable 12-year-old daughter Willow for “Cover Me in Sunshine,” a song the mother-daughter pair released in 2021, before Pink sat at the edge of the catwalk with guitarist Justin Derrico for a few more low-key offerings. Pink’s ability to underscore emotion in song was spotlighted on the beautiful – and beautifully sad – ballad dedicated to her late father, “When I Get There.”

But soon it was back to the percolating pop beats with “I Am Here,” which Pink performed barefoot while getting soaked on stage, and the brawny social issues anthem “Irrelevant,” paired with video footage of Black Lives Matter protests, Pride parades and politicians.

Of course, Pink couldn’t stay away from the adrenalized pull of something acrobatic. She joined some of her dancers for a unified routine during “Trustfall” while other members of her pack blissfully flipped on a trampoline behind her. Pink joined them at the top of the setup, watching their “trust falls” onto the coiled canvas.

There are so many elements of Pink worthy of admiration – her stamina, her realness, her husky-yet-soaring voice . But in concert, the best gift she provides is an allowance to have fun.

Opener Benatar, an obvious blueprint for the rock edge in Pink’s work, emphasized the timelessness of her catalog.

With husband Giraldo on piano and guitar, Benatar boomed through the undiminished potency of “Promises in the Dark” and the nuanced beauty of “We Belong” with equal ease.

Coolly sashaying around the stage while snapping her fingers, Benatar waited to pounce for the opening “We are strong!” lyric in “Love is a Battlefield,” anchored by Giraldo’s fiery guitar.

Throughout their 30-minute set, the pair frequently exchanged glances and smiles, their mutual respect apparent.

The closing “Heartbreaker” was, interestingly, meshed with Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire.” It wasn’t the most obvious of mash-ups – which was likely the point – but worked thanks to the combination of Giraldo’s nimble fretwork and Benatar’s soaring roar of a voice.

Doylestown native singer-songwriter Pink is hitting the road next summer for a tour that features a homecoming stop in Philadelphia.

The three-time Grammy winner's Summer Carnival  world tour takes off in June, including her first show at Citizens Bank Park on Sept. 18. Tickets go on sale Monday, Nov. 21.

Fresh off the release of her latest single,  " Never Gonna Not Dance Again ," Pink took to Instagram to announce dates and locations for the North American leg of Summer Carnival.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by P!NK (@pink)

"You’re up North America! See you next year," Pink wrote in the post .

Throughout the tour, featured opening acts will switch between Brandi Carlile or the duo of Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo.  For the Philadelphia show, folk-rock singer-songwriter Carlile, who recently earned seven Grammy nominations , will be the special guest.

Pink asked Carlile to join her tour in a video that went viral on social media, filmed backstage  at the 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony last week where the pair performed a  tribute to Dolly Parton .

When Pink asks, “Will you come on tour with me?” Carlile responds with a “f*** yeah."

Other openers for each show include Grouplove and DJ Kid Cut Up.

On Wednesday morning, members of the Phillies Email Club received an email with a special ticket presale opportunity.

"As a valued member of the Phillies Email Club, you have a ticket opportunity for the potential to purchase tickets to see this pop icon perform for the first time at the home of the 2022 National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies," the email read.

The Phillies presale ticket opportunity begins on Friday, November 18 at 5 p.m. and continues through 11 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, while supplies last.  There are also  presale opportunities  for Citi card members, which began Tuesday, Nov. 15, and members of the Verizon Up loyalty program, which begins Thursday, Nov. 17.  The general public sale starts on Monday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster .

Taylor Swift, a fellow Pennsylvania native superstar, recently had her own Ticketmaster presale gone wrong for her upcoming Eras Tour , with endless online queues, Ticketmaster website crashes and hiked-up resale prices . Hopefully the ticket distribution company is a bit more prepared when Pink fans log on.

Music and concerts | review: nicki minaj’s pink friday concert ran hot and cold at the united center.

Superstar rapper Nicki Minaj performs the first of two nights at the United Center in Chicago on her Pink Friday 2 tour on April 24, 2024. (Bob Gendron)

No, Nicki Minaj did not hurl any objects at the crowd Wednesday at the first of a sold-out two-night stand at the United Center. The feisty rapper, who made national news for forcefully throwing a bracelet back in the direction of a fan who chucked it at her head at a Sunday concert in Detroit, wisely limited her quarterback practice to tossing free T-shirts to enthusiastic admirers.

Apart from ice-cold stares and hard scans that accompanied some of her aggressive material, Minaj appeared to be in a jovial mood for most of the 140-minute event. The Queen of Rap cycled through multiple personas, organized mini-sets around loose themes and, by and large, demonstrated that her skills as a rapper still rank among the top echelon. Her aptitude as a balladeer and sense of pacing failed to match that elevated standard. Woefully so.

Accompanied by a drummer and keyboardist, Minaj performed the bulk of the show with a dance ensemble that added to the visual bling. A three-tier stage with a tall multi-screen backdrop, catwalk and dizzying array of lights matched the glam of the outfits seen throughout the audience. Dry-ice fog, fireballs, sparks, lasers and numerous props accentuated an atmosphere that suggested a cross between bougie nightclub and theme park attraction.

Or, in Minaj’s eyes, Gag City — the alternate moniker for her current Pink Friday 2 tour. The name comes from the LGBTQ+ term “gag,” which means to be awestruck. Her costumes alone gave such an impression. Metallic breastplate, formal gown, revealing bodysuit, cheerleader apparel, pink dress, robe, hooded jacket: Paired with various wigs and high-heeled boots, Minaj wore them all with sass and style.

Of course, changing into all those clothes required time and transitions. Though brief interludes are customary at arena and stadium shows, the four video-based breaks that allowed Minaj opportunities to strut her around as a fashion icon felt overly protracted. For the first half of the concert, anyway, Minaj’s engaging flow and slippery phrasing defeated those obstacles.

She kept rescuing the momentum that built from the outset on “I’m the Best.” The opening autobiographical declaration contained a blend of brashness, boldness and hubris that infused the songs Minaj sounded the most persuasive presenting — and epitomized the take-on-all-comers identity the rapper most naturally adopted. The very approach that transformed her into an international phenomenon.

During the past 15 years, few artists have dominated popular culture and influenced trends like Minaj. The Trinidadian native’s commercial feats encompass multiple firsts and reported global sales of more than 100 million units (singles, albums and features). Recognizing that her name often translates into automatic success, plenty of famous artists — Drake, Doja Cat, Post Malone, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Lil Wayne, Ye, Madonna and Elton John among them — have sought out Minaj for collaborations.

Often one of the only women in a field crowded with men, she has won or been nominated for nearly every type of major music award imaginable. Minaj belongs to an exclusive club of musicians who count eight videos that have been streamed more than one billion times each. In addition to television and film appearances, her branding reach extends to an entrepreneurial portfolio with fragrances, snacks, clothing and accessories.

The 41-year-old rapper also maintains a robust social media presence — Minaj boasts a staggering 229 million followers on Instagram — that helps account for her ability to stay relevant amid a pop landscape that changes by the day. As does her outspokenness, which includes highly publicized feuds with hip hop contemporaries.

“You either love me or (expletive) hate me, right?” Minaj asked Wednesday, drawing attention to her polarizing reputation and hinting at the bad-girl guise she seemingly loves to embrace. Physically, Minaj used body language to project toughness, infallibility and royalty. Sonically, the rapper unloaded on enemies and wannabes with diss tracks (“FTCU,” “Beep Beep”), torrents of clever one-liners (“Barbie Dangerous,” “Big Difference”) and battle-ready braggadocio (“Win Again”).

Minaj’s forceful tones, animated deliveries and alter-ego accents translated her intent as well as the meaning of the words. Her control — she seamlessly shifted from patient, slow elocution to rapid-fire clips in a blink, machine-gunning syllables in manners that created their own rhythms — backed up her talk. The technique compensated for the fact she seldom played songs in their entirety. Covering up for an over-reliance on backing tracks proved more difficult.

However determined to stake out her territory, Minaj also indulged in risque fun and conveyed it with a wink. She struck suggestive poses on the synth-heavy “Pink Birthday.” Male members of her dance team sported cowboy hats and holster belts for the sexual “Cowgirl.” Minaj leaned on recognizable samples from Rick James and Sir Mix-a-Lot hits, respectively, to send up the exaggerated raunch of “Super Freaky Girl” and “Anaconda.”

And she shared the spotlight and provided a surprise by duetting with Chicago rapper G Herbo on “Chi-Raq.” Not to be outdone, the local singer-songwriter joined Minaj on “Favorite” and “Want Some More” — the first time the pair performed those songs together on stage. Further impact, slam and sneer arrived with the warrior-minded “Chun-Li,” trap-laden “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” and tribal pound of “Monster.” If Minaj would have only retained that sharp focus and attack.

Superstar rapper Nicki Minaj performs the first of two nights at the United Center in Chicago on her Pink Friday 2 tour on April 24, 2024. (Bob Gendron)

Instead, she morphed into a singer during a solo stretch that attempted emotional vulnerability but landed on formula and blandness. “Right Thru Me” and “Save Me” came across as anonymous pop lacking grit and charisma. Abbreviated renditions of “Here I Am” and “Let Me Calm Down” fared just slightly better. Then things really nose-dived.

When Minaj departed for another anticipated interlude, R&B vocalist Monica (who opened the show) filled what amounted to a nearly half-hour intermission. The head-scratching decision to pause that far into the concert drained the energy. The prolonged setup of a prop that resembled an illuminated monorail car sapped any spirit that remained. Note to Minaj: If something causes that long of a delay, it doesn’t belong onstage. Refer to the unofficial Spinal Tap rule.

At least Minaj would re-emerge and race to a breathless finish, right? Not exactly. The rapper drifted, detouring into a monologue during which she spouted armchair psychology and motivational platitudes. Well-intended, maybe. But did everyone then deserve to endure tone-deaf fans holding Minaj’s microphone and singing the chorus of “The Night Is Still Young”?

Besides, that song’s sentiment no longer applied. By the time the rapper recalibrated her direction via the electro-pulsing bounce of “Starships” and hybrid hip-hop of the celebratory “Everybody,” midnight on a school night beckoned.

Setlist from the United Center April 24: Part 1 “I’m the Best” “Barbie Dangerous” “FTCU” “Beep Beep” “Hard White” “Press Play” “Win Again” “Chi-Raq” “Big Difference” “Beez in the Trap” “Pink Birthday” “Feeling Myself” “Favorite” “Want Some More” “Cowgirl” “RNB” “High School” “Needle” “Chun-Li” “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” “Barbie World” “Roman’s Revenge” “Monster” (Ye cover) “Fallin 4 U” “Right Thru Me” “Save Me” “Here I Am” “Let Me Calm Down”

Part 2 “Super Freaky Girl” “Anaconda” “Super Bass” “The Night Is Still Young” “Moment 4 Life” “Starships” “Everybody”

David Gilmour to Release New Album, ‘Luck and Strange,’ This Fall

  • By Kory Grow

Nearly a decade since the release of his last solo album, David Gilmour will return with a new full-length, Luck and Strange , this fall. The former Pink Floyd singer and guitarist will release the record’s first single, “The Piper’s Call,” on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show on Thursday; a music video will follow on Friday. The album will arrive on Sept. 6.

Gilmour recorded and co-produced the album, which follows 2015’s Rattle That Lock , over five months in Brighton, England, and London with producer Charlie Andrew, whose credits include releases by Alt-J, Marika Hackman, and Wolf Alice. It contains eight new original songs and a cover of the Montgolfier Brothers’ song from 1999, “Between Two Points.”

“It’s written from the point of view of being older; mortality is the constant,” Samson said.

“We spent a load of time during and after lockdown talking about and thinking about those kind of things,” Gilmour said.

Gilmour said he found Andrew’s approach both startling and refreshing. “We invited Charlie to the house, so he came and listened to some demos and said things like, ‘Well, why does there have to be a guitar solo there?’ and ‘Do they all fade out? Can’t some of them just end?'” he said. “He has a wonderful lack of knowledge or respect for this past of mine. He’s very direct and not in any way overawed, and I love that. That is just so good for me because the last thing you want is people just deferring to you.”

“Polly and I have been writing together for over 30 years and the Von Trapped live streams showed the great blend of Romany’s voice and harp-playing and that led us into a feeling of discarding some of the past that I’d felt bound to and that I could throw those rules out and do whatever I felt like doing, and that has been such a joy,” Gilmour said.

The backing band includes bassist Guy Pratt, who played on Pink Floyd’s The Division Bell and Gilmour’s recent solo releases. Other musicians who contributed to Luck and Strange include bassist Tom Herbert, drummers Adam Betts, Steve Gadd and Steve DiStanislao, and keyboardists Rob Gentry and Roger Eno.

Keyboards recorded by Pink Floyd’s Richard Wright, who died in 2008, feature on the title track; he and Gilmour recorded them during a barn jam at Gilmour’s house in 2007.

In an interview with Rolling Stone a year earlier, Gilmour and Samson said they’d just begun formulating ideas for a new album. “There’s a number of things that come from before this whole period, from before my last album, which are the things that I’m playing with to some extent, as well as some new music, too, to get myself back into the mood for work,” he said.

Proud mom Madonna says her kids have put ‘blood, sweat and tears’ into Celebration Tour performances

Madonna with kids David, Mercy, Estere and Stella

Madonna is proud of her children for working hard as performers in her ongoing Celebration Tour.

“I think what my children learned the most in this year of rehearsing and performing is that if you want to follow your dreams, you have to work hard for them,” the pop superstar, 65, said in an interview with W magazine published Wednesday.

“And if all of them choose something different later in life, they will never forget this year of blood, sweat, and tears.”

As Madonna prepared to hit the road for the concert series — a spectacle that honors her four decades in the spotlight — she tapped her four youngest kids, David, 18, Mercy, also 18, plus 11-year-old twins Stella and Estere, to showcase their unique talents on stage.

Madonna

“Because the Celebration Tour is a retrospective of my life, I thought it made perfect sense to include all of my children still living with me in the show; they all dance and play musical instruments, and have been doing so for years,” the “Ray of Light” singer told the publication.

“David has played guitar since he was a child. Mercy has played piano since she was 8 and she’s been classically trained most of her life. Eventually, when I adopted the twins, they started to play piano and dance as well.”

Madonna noted that there is “always an endless parade of dancing and [performing arts] teachers coming and going in our house,” so it only made sense to give her children a bigger platform to shine on the Celebration Tour.

A show highlight for the Grammy winner is when daughter Mercy accompanies her on piano during a powerful rendition of her 1993 ballad “Bad Girl.”

“I saw a strange, poetic juxtaposition of hedonism and exploration emerging into the light of Mercy, sitting stoically at her grand piano playing Chopin as she beckoned me towards her, making me think about the choices I have made in my life,” Madonna said, explaining how that specific moment came to be.

“Singing ‘Bad Girl’ was kind of my confession to her, and I felt we had an unspoken understanding of what was happening.”

Meanwhile, David duets with his mom on “Mother and Father” from her 2003 album, “American Life.”

“‘Mother and Father’ is one of my favorite moments in the show because it gave me a chance to not only honor my mother and her memory but also to honor David’s mother and her memory,” she said of the young creative, whom she adopted from Malawi in 2006.

Madonna and son David

“He has always wanted to sing and play guitar. He loves being on stage — this is nothing new. Much of the show is about motherhood, family, and the importance of that in my artistic life.”

As for Stella and Estere, the girls dance their hearts out when Madonna sings her 2000 smash “Don’t Tell Me,” and also during a section in the show that pays homage to ballroom and the art of vogueing.

“While Estere was learning how to DJ, she became interested in ballroom competitions. Just by luck, one of my choreographer’s assistants, Ivy Mugler, has her own ballroom house called House of Mugler,” she says of how the two became interested in that sect of dance.

Madonna and others onstage

“She started taking Estere aside during rehearsals to another room—and within a couple of weeks she was doing death drops and spins and surprising us with her ability. So, of course we had to turn that section of the show into Estere’s Ball.”

Madonna is also mom to Lourdes “Lola” Leon, 27 — whom she shares with ex Carlos Leon — and Rocco Ritchie, 23 — whom she shares with ex-husband Guy Ritchie. Her eldest have also participated in her tours, including 2012’s MDNA Tour, for which Lourdes worked in the wardrobe department while Rocco performed on stage.

“I have always been blessed with children who are interested in music, dance and art. Starting from the top with Lola, who was not only an incredible ballet dancer and a rhythmic gymnast, she also switches to musical theater and contemporary dance,” she said.

Madonna with her kids

The eternal hitmaker acknowledged that “nothing brings [her] more happiness” than collaborating with her kids.

“It would be boring if they were just traveling from hotel to hotel, and occasionally coming to watch the show,” she elaborated. “Of course, I am their mother so sometimes we get on each other’s nerves. We are a family of artists but we are also a family, and that’s what happens.”

The Celebration Tour’s next stop is Friday in Mexico City, followed by a final — and free — show in Rio de Janeiro on May 4.

Marshmello to headline MLS All-Star Concert at Nationwide Arena on July 21

pink and grouplove tour

The pulsing beats of EDM − electronic dance music − are to fill Nationwide Arena on July 21, when genre-blending artists-producers Marshmello and PinkPantheress headline the 2024 MLS All-Star Concert presented by Target.

Tickets start at $35 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday at ticketmaster.com . Proceeds benefit Neighborhood Athletics , a Columbus nonprofit organization that helps to provide athletic and educational opportunities to youth in underserved communities.

The MLS All-Star Concert is the kickoff event for the week leading up to the MLS All-Star Game on July 24 at Lower.com Field, home of reigning 2023 MLS Cup champs, the Columbus Crew .

Marshmello first drew worldwide attention in 2015 by publishing remixes online. Born Christopher Comstock, his alternatively spelled stage name and trademark mascot head were inspired by EDM producer Deadmau5, who performs wearing a mouse mascot head.

Hall of Famers: From Cher to Ozzy Osbourne, see the 2024 list of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees

Though many may not recognize him by name or sight, Marshmello's collaborations with many artists are familiar, such as his team up with Bastille on the No. 2 hit "Happier" in 2018. Other partnerships include Sting , Pink , Kane Brown, Selena Gomez , Demi Lovato , Halsey, the Jonas Brothers and others.

In addition to an impressive number of awards, he has amassed over 16.8 billion streams and his YouTube channel, which also features gaming and cooking videos, has nearly 57 million subscribers.

Co-headliner PinkPantheress − the British-born Victoria Walker − initially began writing music in high school to help a friend before creating her own songs using GarageBand while attending the University of the Arts in London.

After several TikTok snippets of her songs went viral, she was signed to Parlophone, then to Elektra Records.

Many labels have been used to describe PinkPantheress' music − among them, pop, dance, alt-girl rap, hyperpop and jungle, a form of EDM that grew out of the U.K. rave scene.

The artist herself describes her sound as alt-pop and "a form of drum-and-bass that's acceptable to listen to at home," and said she writes sadder, dark lyrics that tell stories to appeal to younger listeners and to contrast with her happy instrumentals.
