Scott McCreery- born Cooke "Scotty" McCreery, on October 9th 1993 is an American country music singer from North Carolina, America.

Scott started out in 2009 when he managed to win the singing contest 'Clayton Idol' held by WQDR-FM at the Clayton Harvest Festival in Clayton, North Carolina. Following this win Scott sang at numerous local shows with the radio station.

His success came about in 2011, after winning the popular talent show, USA's, 'American Idol'. Scott was the series' youngest male winner and second youngest winner overall. Scott McCreery had to have one of his parents live with him during the process of the show due to his young age. Following his success in the reality TV show, Scott went on to record and release his debut studio album, titled, Clear as Day, that same year. The album was highly successful and was impressively certified platinum in America.

Scott’s unique style meant his country vocals suited a number outlets. This was made evident through his debut album including the top 20 country songs, "I Love You This Big" and "The Trouble with Girls". Additionally his talents filtered through to him successfully releasing a public's favourite, Christmas album in 2012, titled, 'Christmas with Scotty McCreery', which has impressively been certified gold in the USA.

Success didn’t end there however, his first single from his third album titled, "See You Tonight", successfully reached the highly regarded, America's top 10 on Billboard's Country charts.

Live reviews

Scotty McCreery captured our attention during his stint on "American Idol." His singing and the songs he chose helped me enjoy the genre of country music more. So, when we saw that he was performing at Centennial Hall (University of Arizona), Tucson, we bought tickets for the show and were very excited.

First, we attend lectures at Centennial Hall so the issue regarding accoustics is not really a problem for the most part. However, with the presence of 3-4 guitars, keyboard and drums plus amps, the music was much louder than the performer...we saw Scotty's mouth moving and we knew sound was emanating from him BUT we could not hear the lyrics distinctly. I think if the music had been powered down a bit and/or the building had better accoustics, this would not have been an issue.

Enjoyed Scotty's personal footnotes which preceded some of the songs and it gave some insight to him as a person. He uses music/lyrics to express his feelings & emotions. Having said that, perhaps he is shy (as many performers are) and did not engage the audience (theater-goers in the front rows) much. Then I considered the possibility that he was "saving" himself for the audience members who had paid to visit him backstage. All in all, it was a high energy show with a group of wonderfully talented performers. It was good to see a grown up Scotty McCreery with 8-9 years of professional experience.

When I first heard that Scotty was gonna be in town I knew I had to buy a ticket before it sold out. He sang songs from his newest album and a couple from his older albums too. Also he sang a little bit of old country like Alan Jackson,Meryl Haggard,Alabama and Johnny Cash. He is such an amazing singer and did such an amazing job from beginning to end. The amount of talent on stage was so amazing. He switched from acoustic guitar to electric than back to acoustic. His band did Phenomenal too. They played instruments from fiddle to banjo to drums, electric guitar and keyboard and the list goes on.There wasn't a moment I didn't enjoy. I enjoyed it all. Also I got to meet Scotty in person and he is the nicest guy you'll ever meet. Who he is on tv and in interviews is who he is in real life. Talking with him was like talking with one of my best friends. I can't say enough nice things about him and his band. It definitely worth seeing him in concert. I highly recommend it. You'll be entertained from beginning to end then sad when it's over. It'll be a night you never forget

A fresh faced youngster to the country scene, Scotty McCreery has been causing waves since winning American Idol and scoring a #1 album with 'Clear as Day'. A fan base was ready and waiting following his TV show victory and his outings on the live scene have been praised more and more ever since.

Now with two albums worth of hit material, McCreery is one of complete ease onstage. I suppose the transition from having millions of eyes on you each week to a mere couple thousand in a venue is a nice change as Scotty is able to relax further into his performance. He also has a great live band and seems to thrive from the jam mentality of his music style.

He builds a great connection with the crowd as he tells them meanings behind his songwriting and his experiences as a reality star at such a young age. They warm to him almost instantly and cheer even louder for 'See You Tonight' and US smash 'I Love You This Big'. By his final bows there is an unspoken unanimous opinion that Scotty is destined for great things.

Bought the tickets as a Mother's Day gift for myself and took my two daughters. Scotty was great! My daughters were excited walking into the theater but by the time he finished his first song they said he is now their favorite. He walked down the aisle we were sitting by for one of his songs and touched my older daughters hand , so that would be her highlight. We loved how he would turn the lights up a bit and tell the audience a little bit about his journey to stardom. He played a song he had written but hasn't released yet which was great. Can't wait to hear it on the radio. Both of my girls said when he is on stage he looks like Jensen Ackles from Supernatural. I have to agree. I would highly recommend seeing Scotty in concert.

Absolutely amazing! It was such a great time. My uncle and I went; I have seen Scotty, though, two times in the past so going a third time made me so happy! He never disappoints with his stage presence. Love him and I loved the Casino Ballroom. Five stars!

I thought that Scotty did a really, truly great job. I thought that him telling us about his cousin dying in the war, along with the fact he wrote a about him and his wife and son was admirable. It was great that he sang old and new songs for us too!

About Anne Wilson:

One of Nashville’s most inspiring young trailblazers, Anne Wilson is a true “rebel” in modern music. The Lexington, Ky. native, known for her transcendent vocal and down-to-earth storytelling, recently released REBEL (The Beginning), a three-pack of songs fusing the heart of Contemporary Christian Music with the sound of Country, and allowing the emerging powerhouse to innovate as her career builds momentum. Co-produced by Jeff Pardo and Jonathan Smith, the project kicks off with two singles bridging Wilson’s sonic influences. The hurricane force encouragement of “Rain In The Rearview” stands as Wilson’s debut Country single, while the soaring ballad “Strong” will simultaneously aim to continue the success she has earned in Contemporary Christian. Taking the music world by storm, Wilson delivered her first public performance at 15, singing “What a Beautiful Name” at her brother’s funeral in a moving expression of faith which soon went viral. A few short years later, her 2021 debut single “My Jesus” became a PLATINUM-certified single and hit No.1 on Billboard ’s Christian Airplay chart. Since then, she has tallied more than 730M global streams, made her Grand Ole Opry debut and scored a GRAMMY nomination for her 2022 debut album My Jesus . She continues to thrill live audiences, performing over 250 shows in the first two years of her career, and is currently on her entirely sold-out headlining My Jesus Tour.

ABOUT GREYLAN JAMES:

From the moment his Papaw gifted him his first guitar at the age of five, one of Nashville’s most exciting young breakout Country stars Greylan James knew he was meant to be a musician. The Knoxville-raised singer/songwriter has been manifesting his vision of Country music stardom since his earliest days: from those cleats and cowboy hats he wore to school to playing every sort of live show imaginable from tailgates to patios and dive bars to funerals around his hometown. Since moving to Music City eight years ago, Greylan has become a “celebrated songwriter” ( Country Now ) earning cuts from some of Country music’s most notable artists including Kenny Chesney, Chris Young, Cole Swindell, Darius Rucker, Chris Janson, Bailey Zimmerman, Breland and more, most recently earning his first No. 1 with Jordan Davis’ smash hit “Next Thing You Know.” To date, Greylan’s songbook has amassed more than 650 million streams. And while Greylan has undoubtedly been incredibly successful penning hits for others in the writer’s room, he’s ready to strike out on his own with the recent release of his anticipated debut single “ Young Man ” (BMLG Records). Co-written alongside esteemed Nashville songwriters Jacob Davis and Josh Miller, and dedicated to Greylan’s late grandfather, the reflective song of notching wisdom from one’s elders is his most personal song yet. After joining Old Dominion on the road over the summer, Greylan heads out on Cole Swindell’s TWELVE TOUR this fall beginning October 12 in Fargo, ND. For a full list of tour dates and more, visit  GreylanJames.com .

About Noah Hicks: Raised on a chicken farm in Carrollton, GA, Noah Hicks brings an authenticity that’s as real as the dirt roads he grew up on. After making the move to Nashville, he quickly found his place among some of the city’s most respected writing circles. But it’s not just his ear for a good song that sets him apart; he prides himself on his energetic live shows and undeniable connection with fans. Sharing the stage with names like HARDY, Ernest, Justin Moore, and Parker McCollum, and making appearances at festivals like CMA Fest, Noah’s energy is felt far beyond Music Row. Since signing with RED Creative Group in 2020, he’s amassed over 60 million streams and collaborated with artists like Rhett Akins, Ashley Cooke, Travis Denning, and Jon Langston. Two of his standout tracks, “I Can Tell You’re Small Town” and “Dirt On It,” have proven Noah’s ability to authentically and naturally connect with fans. The former sparked an organic TikTok trend, with over 29K videos created and counting, while the latter has been embraced by NFL and MLB stadiums, organically finding its way into the ears of sports fans.

The 15 Best Scotty McCreery Songs

It's pretty impressive what Scotty McCreery has already achieved in his country music career and he isn't even 30 yet. The North Carolina native first realized he loved music when he received a book about Elvis from his grandmother. Inspired by the legendary Presley, McCreery started playing the guitar when he was ten years old and his dedication paid off, eventually landing him in Nashville as an official singer-songwriter.

The country artist went on to win the tenth season of American Idol when he was only 16 years old and pretty much hasn't stopped going since. His debut album Clear As Day went platinum and scored him the Best New Artist award at the ACM Awards. He followed that success with his own Christmas album, Christmas With Scotty McCreery , his 2013 album See You Tonight, 2018's Seasons Change, and 2021's Same Truck .

From a country-rock ode to southern belles to a ballad that reflects on life's fleeting moments, we've rounded up the fifteen best Scotty McCreery songs to date. We've got songs from his latest new album as well as older country radio hits that really show off McCreery's finest from throughout his career.

15. "Small Town Girl"

One of the many Same Truck songs co-written by McCreery, this is an ode to small-town romance. It's impossible not to smile listening to this sweet song with its breezy lyrics and feel-good twang of the guitar.

14. "Why You Gotta Be Like That"

Same Truck reached number 10 on the Best Country Album Chart and a song like "Why You Gotta Be Like That" is why. It's fun, upbeat, and is the definition of a country song you'll have on repeat.

13. "Water Tower Town"

From Clear as Day , this song just makes you feel like you've stepped into Friday Night Lights . It's all about the charm of small-town life from Friday night football to church on Sunday mornings.

12. "Barefootin'"

This song immediately transports you to summertime and walking on the beach with someone you love. It's a lot of fun with its cheeky lyrics and is definitely one of the standout tracks from Seasons Change .

11. "You Time"

This is just one of the many McCreery songs inspired by his wife Gabi. The lead single from Same Truck was all about how McCreery's life and career were so busy that sometimes he just wanted time alone with his wife.

10. "Carolina To Me"

Another strong song from Same Truck , McCreery co-wrote this sweet ballad as an ode to his home state. "To me, North Carolina is just a little piece of Heaven on Earth," McCreery shared in a press release, "and I hope when I get to Heaven, there's a little bit of North Carolina in it."

9. "Damn Strait"

This was one of the few Same Truck songs that McCreery didn't co-write but it turned out to be a fun tribute to country legend George Strait. McCreery grew up a massive Strait fan and knew he had to record this one because of its clever lyrics and the fact that most (maybe all?) country fans also love George Strait.

8. "Southern Belle"

This was McCreery's first non-album single. The country song really lets us see a different side of the singer. It gets a little more rocking than the typically clean-cut, feel-good songs we usually see from McCreery.

7. "Wherever You Are"

Inspired by his wife, "Wherever You Are" really showcases McCreery in his wheelhouse.

6. "Feelin' It"

The definition of a cool summer jam, "Feelin' It" reached the top 10 on the country airplay charts. The music video was filmed in his home state of North Carolina and featured his friends hanging out at the beach.

5. "The Trouble With Girls"

Another top 20 hit for McCreery, the music video for "The Trouble With Girls" won Breakthrough Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards.

4. "I Love You This Big"

This was McCreery's very first single in 2011. He first performed it in the American Idol finale, right before it was released.  Pretty exciting for the newcomer. The song peaked in the top 20 on the country charts and McCreery even featured his mom in the music video. The song is a relaxing country jam that was the perfect choice to put McCreery on the map.

3. "This Is It"

This number one hit from Seasons Change features footage from the singer's actual wedding in the music video. The song is McCreery's ode to his relationship with his high school sweetheart, Gabi Dugal. He even sang the song to his new bride at their wedding reception. The emotion and love for his wife shine through the lyrics.

2. "See You Tonight"

The title track from the country singer's 2013 album was the first to reach the top of the Billboard chart.

1. "Five More Minutes"

Co-written by McCreery as the first single from Seasons Change, "Five More Minutes" was the singer's first number one hit. The song was inspired by the death of his grandfather and how he wished he had more time left with him, co-written with Frank Rogers and Monty Criswell.

“Cab in a Solo” is the lead single off McCreery’s upcoming album. The song, co-written by McCreery, Frank Rogers, and Brent Anderson, is climbing toward the Top 30 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. “I love songwriting,” McCreery tells American Songwriter . “I want to tell my story from a first-hand point of view. I think I’d be writing these songs whether five people like it or 5,000. So, it means a lot when people tell you basically through listening to your songs or making a project gold or platinum, that, ‘Man, I appreciate your hard work. I relate to your music.’”

Before the Cab in a Solo Tour launches, the singer has a string of shows lined up for the remainder of 2023, including a stop at Opry Country Christmas at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

Anne Wilson Joins Scotty McCreery’s Cab In A Solo Tour

PLATINUM-certified, GRAMMY-nominated artist and songwriter Anne Wilson will join Scotty McCreery’s Cab In A Solo Tour as direct support, marking her first-ever Country tour. The tour, promoted by Live Nation , will kick-off at Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio on Jan. 26, 2024 and trek across the U.S. with stops in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Boston and more. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. local time at annewilsonofficial.com .

Anne Wilson Joins Scotty McCreery's Cab In A Solo Tour

The Cab In A Solo Tour announcement coincides with Wilson’s first Country single, “ Rain In The Rearview ,” which impacted Country radio yesterday (10/9) as the third most-added song this week. The track penned by Wilson, Matthew West, Jaren Johnston and Zach Kale has garnered praise from critics, with MusicRow noting “vocally she’s got the goods” and Billboard citing the “acoustic coda showcases Wilson’s ceiling-scraping vocal capabilities.”

Released as part of her bold new venture that fuses the Christian and Country genres, Holler noted that the new three-pack of songs, REBEL (The Beginning) , “clearly outlines Wilson’s new country-leaning mission statement,” as two of the songs simultaneously make waves at Christian radio (“Strong”) and Country radio (“Rain In The Rearview”).

Ahead of her tour with McCreery next year, Wilson is treating audiences across the country to her first-ever headlining My Jesus Tour, accompanied by special guest Josh Baldwin . The 20-stop tour, which commenced last month, has been met with overwhelming demand, selling out in every city, including Austin, Atlanta, Charlotte, Indianapolis and Chicago.

Scotty McCreery officially inducted into the Grand Ole Opry

McCreery is the newest member of the prestigious country music landmark

Multi-platinum-selling country artist Scotty McCreery was officially welcomed into the Grand Ole Opry family tonight (Sat, Apr 20th) by Opry member Josh Turner who was joined by a surprise guest, Country Music Hall of Famer and Opry member Randy Travis.

McCreery performed his Top 6 and climbing single, “Cab in a Solo,” “Fall of Summer” from his upcoming album Rise and Fall , and Travis’ iconic “Three Wooden Crosses” before being joined onstage by his friends and heroes, Turner and Travis.

“I stand here tonight proud of the fact that I bridged the gap between the generation of Randy Travis and Scotty McCreery,” shared Turner. “Only time will tell who will be inspired by Scotty.”

After sharing the chorus of the George Jones classic “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes,” an emotional Turner continued, “Scotty is not only a fine singer and a songwriter but he’s a great man, husband, and now father. I’m proud of him and I’m proud that he is filling the shoes of the artists before him. With artists like him, country music is in great shape.”

Turner then presented the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry with his official Opry Member Award and passed the mic for remarks and reflections from the night’s honoree.

“If you’ve listened to any of my interviews over the last 15 years of doing this, they’d say, ‘What is your biggest goal?’ and I’d always say, ‘One day I wanna be a member of the Grand Ole Opry,’” shared McCreery. “I gotta go home and start writing a new bucket list.”

Pointing to his 18-month-old son Avery in the audience and holding back tears, McCreery added, “He might not understand tonight but one day I’ll be able to tell him, ‘Hey buddy, this was your daddy’s dream and it came true.’”

McCreery capped the poignant night with a tender performance of his first No. 1 hit, “Five More Minutes,” which he debuted on the Opry stage in 2016.

McCreery’s Opry induction and performance will air as a Saturday night Opry Live later this spring on the Opry Facebook and YouTube channels, streaming free on the Circle Now app, and via Circle Country digital streaming partners.

While performing on an Opry Country Christmas show in December, McCreery was surprised onstage by Opry member Garth Brooks who wished him “Merry Christmas” and went on to officially invite him to be the newest member of the Opry family.

The Triple Tigers recording artist, who recently earned a CMT Music Award for Digital-First Performance of the Year, will release his new album Rise and Fall on May 10th. He wrote 12 of the 13 songs on the album, including his current hit “Cab in a Solo,” the fastest-moving single of his career which garnered his most first-week adds at country radio (120) and is currently Top 6 in Mediabase.

On May 11th, McCreery will return to perform at the Opry just one day after he releases his new album. The first 400 ticketholders who purchase the album in the Opry Shop that evening will gain access to an exclusive album release celebration and acoustic performance with Scotty directly following the show in the Opry House’s Studio A.

T. Graham Brown, invited by Vince Gill to join the Opry during a taping of his Sirius XM show Live Wire in February is scheduled to be inducted into the Opry on Friday, May 3rd.

Scotty McCreery Prepares For Opry Induction, Fifth Album ‘Rise and Fall’: Exclusive

S cotty McCreery won America’s heart 13 years ago covering Josh Turner songs on “American Idol.” Turner joined him on the show. And, McCreery and went on to be the Season 10 champion in May 2011.

Continuing a theme, McCreery will release his fifth studio album ‘Rise and Fall,’ home to his current hit “Cab In a Solo,” on May 10. He’ll meet Turner on stage again Saturday when the “Long Black Train” singer inducts McCreery into The Grand Ole Opry. Fans can listen to McCreery’s induction 7 p.m. CT Saturday on WSM radio.

McCreery calls the recognition “truly a dream come true.” He said that before Garth Brooks surprised him with an invitation to join the Opry in December, McCreery didn’t know if it would ever happen. But he really wanted it to.

“I just have so much respect for the Opry,” McCreery told American Songwriter. “And obviously, the artists that played there before me who made it what it was.”

The North Carolina native considers himself an old soul and a history buff. He is even more wowed by the Opry’s place in country music and its role in growing the genre into the international phenomenon it is today.

Speaking over a Zoom interview, Scotty McCreery admits that he’s thought an invitation to join the Opry might be coming for a while. He said every time he played, he wondered if that night was the night. Turner even made a surprise appearance one night, and McCreery was convinced the all-important ask might be imminent. But it wasn’t. Then, one night in December, the singer agreed to play the Opry’s Christmas show. He thought it would be an early gig, and he and his wife Gabi would be in bed by 9:30 p.m.

Scotty McCreery’s son took his first steps backstage at The Grand Ole Opry House

The night of Dec. 3 was already special. The couple’s 1-year-old son, Avery, took his first steps backstage. Then McCreery walked out to perform his three songs – and Garth Brooks walked out, too. Brooks was carrying a gift-wrapped package and told McCreery he had to wait to open it because the gift wasn’t inside. He had to wait for his induction date.

“It was a shock, for sure,” McCreery said, explaining that Brooks took the time to fly back to Nashville from Las Vegas where he was performing for his residency at Caesar’s Palace. “Then he flew right back to L.A. to do Jimmy Kimmel,” McCreery continued. “It was like, ‘What? He didn’t have to do that.’ He’s just a great guy.”

With his Opry induction less than two days away and his fifth album due in three weeks, McCreery no longer feels like the teenager who won “American Idol.”

“I feel much more like an old man than I do that kid nowadays,” he said. “I do still have that same excitement for what I do.” McCreery added, “I was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, and I didn’t know what the world had in store for me. At this point in my career, I’ve seen just about everything. I think you can easily get jaded, but for me it’s like, ‘No, I know what to expect.’ And it still excites me.”
