In a time when milk and cereal ruled breakfast, a fierce corporate battle begins over a revolutionary new pastry. A Pop-Tart comedy from Jerry Seinfeld.

Having just graduated from college, a bee by the name of Barry B. Benson (Jerry Seinfeld) finds himself disillusioned with the prospect of having only one career choice--honey. As he ventures outside of the hive for the first time, he breaks one of the cardinal rules of the bee world and talks to a human.

COMEDIAN - A film about comedy with Jerry Seinfeld.

Jerry Seinfeld takes the stage in New York and tackles talking vs. texting, bad buffets vs. so-called "great" restaurants and the magic of Pop Tarts.

Hop in for a ride with Eddie Murphy, Seth Rogen, Melissa Villaseñor, Ricky Gervais, Jamie Foxx, and more in the latest season of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

Jerry Seinfeld returns to the club that gave him his start in the 1970s, mixing iconic jokes with stories from his childhood and early days in comedy.

Months after his classic TV sitcom ends, the legendary comic returns to his stand-up roots to deliver his best jokes on a sold-out international tour.

The "show about nothing" is a sitcom landmark, with comic Jerry and his three sardonic friends finding laughs in both the mundane and the ridiculous.

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee Book

In his streaming show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Jerry Seinfeld has engaged with some of the funniest people in history in classic cars, coffee shops, and diners.

“Is This Anything?” is the title of my new book because that’s what comedians say to each other about any new bit they want to try. ⁣⁣ I’ve saved every bit I ever wrote, that worked on stage, from 1975 to this year, and assembled it all chronologically along with some memories and analysis of each significant period.

Halloween

In his first picture book, comedian and best-selling author Jerry Seinfeld captures on the page his hilarious views on Halloween, from Superman costumes that look like pajamas to the agony of getting bad trick-or-treat candy. Seinfeld's tale resonates with vivid experiences of a night every kid loves.

SeinLanguage

In his #1 New York Times best-selling book, SeinLanguage, Jerry Seinfeld has captured on the page his views on topics ranging from Raisinettes to relationships, from childhood to cop shows, and from parents to power suits. This must-have book for all fans--and who isn't a fan?

Jerry Seinfeld and Jim Gaffigan

Jerry Seinfeld and Jim Gaffiga n are hitting the road, and this time, they’re not just going out for coffee. After first meeting in 2016 for an episode of Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee , the two comics have now announced plans to team up for a four-date joint arena tour.

Rising Comedy Star Matt Rife Sets Ambitious 115-Date World Tour

Trending on billboard.

Indeed, the two first crossed paths and bonded over their similarities on the talk show’s eighth season. Seinfeld picked up Gaffigan in a 1977 Volkswagen Camper Bus, and they went out for pastrami at the 2nd Avenue Deli in New York City.

The tour follows the lead of similar joint endeavors by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, Kevin Hart and Chris Rock and more pairings. The news comes as Seinfeld gears up for the release of his upcoming Netflix comedy Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story , which also stars Gaffigan, Melissa McCarthy, James Marsden and Hugh Grant. Gaffigan, meanwhile, has his tenth stand-up special coming out this year.

“I’m so excited to help out this unknown up and upcoming comedian who many may have never heard of,” joked Gaffigan of the four-date trek in a statement of his own. “I know it will be an amazing bunch of shows.”

What to Expect from Seinfeld's Live Show

Jerry Seinfeld's live performances are a masterclass in observational humor. He hilariously dissects the absurdities of everyday life with razor-sharp precision. From the mundane to the extraordinary, Seinfeld's keen observations and witty observations leave audiences laughing out loud and nodding in agreement — like when he points out how awkward or inappropriate people could be! (You can relate!)

He’ll probably riff on relationships, technology, or the quirks of modern society. Regardless of his content, you’ll find a relatable and endlessly entertaining show.

As far as opening acts go, we’re not entirely sure. Mark Schiff has been Seinfeld’s longtime opening act, so perhaps he’ll make an appearance before the legend hits the stage. We’ll know soon enough come the first show on this particular tour on May 10.

Mark Schiff, Jerry Seinfeld’s longtime opening act, brings tefillin on tour

seinfeld tour opener

( JTA ) — Mark Schiff has been opening for Jerry Seinfeld on tour for 25 years, and along the way, he has brought his tefillin.

Schiff said he tries to stay as observant as he can on the road, participating in Shabbat services either at a nearby synagogue or in his hotel room. But he’s modest about his commitment.

“I really hope God marks on a curve,” he joked.

In a memoir released late last year titled “Why Not? Lessons on Comedy, Courage, and Chutzpah,” Schiff details his life and career, from inauspicious beginnings as a kid growing up in New York City to becoming a working comedian alongside a bevy of generation-defining Jewish comics.

While he isn’t a household name like Seinfeld or some of his other peers, the penultimate chapter of his book is full of encounters with enough boldfaced names to make Forrest Gump jealous. Schiff has collaborated in various ways with Robin Williams, Chris Rock, Rodney Dangerfield, Carl Reiner, Paul Reiser and more. He was a regular guest on late-night shows such as “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Late Night with David Letterman,” and he landed specials on both Showtime and HBO. Since the 1970s — when he successfully invited Bob Dylan over to his apartment and befriended Anthony Hopkins during his Broadway run of “Equus” — the Bronx native seems to have also met just about every single one of his heroes.

For the most part, Schiff’s proximity to these stars came as a result of persistent work over a long period of time. But even for that, Schiff is grateful.

“I wouldn’t trade those days for anything, and neither would any of the friends whom I started with,” he writes in his book. “On any given night, there were twenty of us vying to go on. There wasn’t any other way to put it except that I never felt so alive.”

Schiff still “works clean,” avoiding those famous four-letter words, in part because that’s what most comics did before the advent of streaming and HBO, and in part because of his dedication to his faith. He has always incorporated Jewish jokes into his sets and barely changes his material for audiences that he knows will be heavily Jewish.

As he shared over the phone, Schiff, 71, first caught the comedy bug at 12 years old, when his parents took him to the Boulevard Night Club in Rego Park, Queens, to see Dangerfield, a Jewish comedy legend who arguably got plenty of respect .

“Rodney bust through the curtains and he started telling these one-line jokes and the audience was banging on the table, screaming laughing. I looked at my parents; I had never seen them laugh so hard in their entire life. And I had an epiphany…I said, ‘This is it. I know what I want to do for a living,’” Schiff recalled in a phone interview.

From there, Schiff did everything he could to learn the craft of comedy: Watching comedians on TV, buying comedy records and, when he was 16 years old, procuring a fake ID so he could see the greats in person at the The Improv comedy club. Cut to the mid-70s, and Schiff found himself performing regularly at the Comic Strip club alongside stand-ups who were just trying to learn the ropes before going on to dominate our TV screens.

“There was no Seinfeld, there was just this guy Jerry who was just starting out becoming a comedian,” Shiff said. Their group included Reiser, Gilbert Gottfried, Hiram Kasten and Larry Miller. “All Jews, sitting at the bar, waiting for the opportunity to get onstage and start getting good at this thing. You know those friends you make like early on in school? Like second grade, they kind of become your friends for life? This is what happened with us.”

Schiff, now a longtime Los Angeles resident, has filled his book with so many behind-the-scenes anecdotes of being a working comedian that it makes the perfect follow-up to “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” — and it might be even more Jewish. For instance, his use of the Yiddish word shmendrick might not be completely unique, but it’s more rare to find a humorous take on the concept of olam ha-ba, or Judaism’s afterlife-adjacent “world to come” : “Florida without the humidity. Chocolate cake without the calories. Jewish mothers without the screaming.”

By the time the COVID pandemic hit, Schiff had been contributing essays to the LA Jewish Journal. When his touring schedule evaporated, he shifted gears and started writing for six, seven hours a day.

“I had a bunch of stories already written and they’d been published, and then the pandemic hit and I said, ‘You know, Mark, you might have a book here,’” he said.

He also had some helpful prior experience. In 2007, Schiff co-authored “I Killed: True Stories of the Road from America’s Top Comics,” which “young comedians consider…almost like the bible of the road,” Schiff brags. The book gives the reader glimpses into the ups and downs of the touring life from comedy royalty, from Seinfeld to Joan Rivers to Larry David to Mike Myers.

Schiff’s stand-up experience served him well in writing this new memoir. “Each story’s about 700 words, and as a comedian, you gotta get to it right away. You gotta get to the heart of the matter immediately,” he said. “You can’t piddle. So there’s very little piddling in this…I could’ve called the book ‘No Piddling’ if I wanted to. Very little piddling going on.”

Despite the ups and downs that Schiff’s book recalls — from a tumultuous childhood to a bout with alcoholism — Judaism and steadfast belief in God are the driving forces of his life. For instance, learning about lashon hara — scandalous gossip that the Bible forbids — taught him to stay away from “punching down” in comedy. (“Although, in order for something to be funny, you certainly have to pick at something,” Schiff conceded. “They don’t call it a punchline for nothing.”)

seinfeld tour opener

When he’s at home in Los Angeles, he attends services at Young Israel of Century City, a Modern Orthodox congregation. Together he and his daughter-in-law Anna are studying the late Rabbi Norman Lamm’s Torah talks.

The marriage of Schiff’s comedic point of view with his cultural heritage might feel like a throwback to the comedians of yore, the ones he looked up to when comedy first ensnared him, such as Alan King, Buddy Hackett, Don Rickles and Allan Sherman. They ruled the comedy world, at a time when, per Schiff, “85% of the comedians in the United States were Jewish,” and they helped legitimize comedy as a career path for him.

“Later on in life I found out that in many ways the Jews, Jewish comedians, really legitimized Jews in America,” Schiff said.

Despite all that’s changed about comedy in the four-plus decades since Schiff first started — very few keep their material “clean” these days, for instance — he said the industry is still based around “one person and a whole bunch of people sitting out there looking at him or her.”

“And as Jerry says, ‘You better have something more important that you’re going to say than they have to say, otherwise they’re not going to laugh.’”

When asked why he still feels drawn to the road, Schiff said “There’s no better feeling than listening to an audience howling and laughing.”

A feature film about the making of Pop-Tarts? Even Jerry Seinfeld—who loves them, especially after a bad show—said, “There’s no movie here.” But the idea developed into “Unfrosted,” a nutty postwar epic about the invention of the breakfast treat which Seinfeld compares to “The Right Stuff.” (The production did not, he says, have permission from Kellogg’s.) The comic talks with David Remnick about his film-directing début, making a life in comedy, and old age. As he turns seventy, Seinfeld posits, “God is, like, ‘I’m with you up to about thirty-eight. If you want to stay, you can stay. But I’m moving on.’ ” Plus, Georgia’s secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger—who refused to “find” some eleven thousand votes for Donald Trump in the 2020 election—explains how he tries to convince dubious Republican voters that elections are fair.

The comedian could have retired decades ago, but he continues to hone his craft onstage, and at age seventy he’s directed his first feature film, “Unfrosted.”

Jerry Seinfeld

Netflix is a Joke , the 12-day comedy festival taking over Los Angeles with some of the biggest names in the game, kicked off on Wednesday, with Jerry Seinfeld , Jim Gaffigan , Nate Bargatze and Sebastian Maniscalco headlining a show at the Hollywood Bowl .

In a show that Seinfeld called “one of the best nights I’ve had in my entire life,” the four comics each performed a 30-minute set to a sold-out crowd. To start, all four came out together on stage, as Seinfeld yelled, “Thank you Hollywood!”

“I’m not used to working with other people so I’m kind of out of place and trying to figure out where I belong in the group,” Maniscalco teased. Responded Seinfeld, “I used to work with three other very funny people and I got used to that.”

Seinfeld told the audience that the group had been getting “on the phone together and we’d try to figure out, ‘Well in what order are we going to do our shows?’ And we couldn’t figure it out,” explaining they had decided to choose a number one to four out of a hat. Maniscalco drew one, Bargatze two, Gaffigan three and Seinfeld four, as Gaffigan admitted, “I’ve been praying for third.” Seinfeld introduced Maniscalco, calling him, “One of my favorite comedians.”

Maniscalco’s jokes touched on turning 50 and adventures with his young kids, while Bargatze ranged from stories about his former job as a water meter reader to his father being a magician.

Gaffigan commented that he’s gotten accusations he’s on Ozempic after a recent weight loss and denied it, then revealing that he’s on similar medication Mounjaro. For those that say the medications are cheating, he responded, “I’m not playing Major League Baseball, I’m just a fat guy trying to not die.” He added, “I’m trying to enjoy being thin because I know I’m going to be fat again. This is not sustainable, this is the drug.”

“We are having the best time. You have been such a great audience,” he exclaimed at one point in the set, and noted of turning 70 this week, “It sounds like a joke, it doesn’t sound real to me. I feel the same.”

At the end, all four comedians returned to the Bowl stage, as Seinfeld called to “bring out the greatest lineup of comedians I have ever played with in my life,” and left while the theme song for his new movie Unfrosted played through the venue. The group will return to the Bowl for a second show on Thursday.

The Chromatica Ball, Lady Gaga ‘s most recent stadium tour, fought against numerous obstacles before it was able to fully bloom in 2022. The run was postponed twice — first when the world shut down during the pandemic in 2020, then again when only certain stops on the international run were prepared for the return of live music in 2021. When the Ball finally commenced, Gaga leaned into her biggest and weirdest musical modes. She also captured an entire sold-out show on film for the HBO Original Concert Special Gaga Chromatica Ball .

Premiering on HBO on May 25 at 8 p.m. EST, the concert film captures Gaga’s September 2022 performance at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The stadium welcomed 52,000 people to the event, all there to witness the crown jewel of pop spectacle. In the first trailer for the special, the musician performs Chromatica ‘s lead single “Stupid Love” and her seminal single “Born This Way” against a dramatic stage backdrop.

'SNL' tackles Columbia University protests and spoofs JoJo Siwa as Dua Lipa hosts

seinfeld tour opener

Dua Lipa just danced the Saturday night away live from New York.

The "Training Season" singer, 28, made her " Saturday Night Live " hosting debut this weekend and also served as musical guest after releasing her new album , " Radical Optimism ," on Friday. During her monologue, Lipa noted that her parents , who have always been "so supportive," were in the studio audience.

"As you can see, they're kind of cool," she said. "They love to party. One night, I was out with my friends and we ended up at the club at 3 in the morning, and who do I bump into but my parents?" She joked that the incident was "embarrassing, because the last thing you want to see when you're super high and drunk ... is your daughter."

Dua Lipa references 'give us nothing' meme in 'SNL' monologue

Lipa went on to reference some online jokes about her, including the " go girl, give us nothing " meme, which originated from a comment mocking her for a low-energy performance. "I didn't give you nothing: I gave you the greatest meme of all time," Lipa said before declaring, "Tonight, I promise you, I'm going to give you everything."

Speaking with Rolling Stone in January, Lipa said she found this meme "really painful."

In her monologue, Lipa also brought up comments that she always seems to be on vacation, quipping that this is "totally wrong because I'm British, so we call it a holiday."

'SNL' tackles Columbia University student protests in cold open

This week's "Saturday Night Live" opening sketch featured parents of college students speaking out about recent campus protests of the war in Gaza , with Kenan Thompson playing the father of a Columbia University student. "Nothing makes me prouder than young people using their voices to fight for what they believe in," he said, only for it to become clear that he doesn't support his own daughter protesting.

"I am supportive of y'all's kids protesting, not my kids," he told the other parents appearing on a news show. "My kids know better!"

Thompson's character added that his daughter "ain't talking about no 'free this, free that,' because I tell you what ain't free: Columbia."

The Columbia protests also came up during "Weekend Update" when co-anchor Michael Che joked, "Officials at Columbia University complained that protesters broke windows and destroyed school property. But so what? College kids also do that when they win the Final Four."

'SNL' announces season's final guests: Sabrina Carpenter and Jake Gyllenhaal will appear

Che riffed, "President Biden said that the National Guard should not be called in to deal with campus protests. But I'm just happy that he's finally not sending military aid somewhere." After the comment elicited few laughs, Che declared this was his "best joke" of the night.

Jerry Seinfeld cameos on 'SNL' as a man exhausted by his press tour for 'Unfrosted'

"Weekend Update" also featured a surprise cameo by Jerry Seinfeld , who has been relentlessly promoting his new Netflix movie " Unfrosted " and appeared as a "man who did too much press." In the segment, Seinfeld's media appearances were treated like a drug addiction.

"I know I can't undo all the press I've done, but I want to help other people," he joked. "If you're struggling with press, you're not alone. I'm talking to you, Ryan Gosling," referencing the star of another new movie, "The Fall Guy."

Jerry Seinfeld talks 'Unfrosted': His new Netflix movie is about the creation of Pop-Tarts

Seinfeld, who just turned 70, told Colin Jost , "When I started doing press for 'Unfrosted,' I was like you: funny, good-looking. Now look at me. You think this is how I wanted to spend my 26th birthday? But you can get clean."

The segment ended with Seinfeld getting a call from Univision and agreeing to do yet another interview.

'SNL' takes on Kristi Noem's dog scandal

Saturday's "SNL" also mocked South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem , who reportedly revealed in a new book that she killed a dog that she described as "untrainable." In Lipa's monologue, she offered to give advice to audience members who were having problems but refused to help Noem, played by Heidi Gardner wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat. "No, no, no, sorry, I can't help," Lipa told her.

'Untrainable': South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem defends shooting family dog

Later, during "Weekend Update," Jost joked that Noem shooting the dog is "insane" because "if a dog is untrainable, you don't shoot it: you give it to President Biden ." He also joked that former President Donald Trump would probably "fully support killing disobedient pets" as a photo of Trump's former Vice President Mike Pence was shown.

Marcello Hernández appeared on "Weekend Update" as Noem's "other dog," who was portrayed as being secretly terrified that Noem will kill him next.

"She's the best," he said. "It's like they say: I don't know if she rescued me, or if I'm going to get shot in the face."

JoJo Siwa reacts to 'SNL' parody of 'Karma,' adult image

Singer and former child star JoJo Siwa , who recently made waves with her single "Karma" and its mature image, received the parody treatment on "SNL" during the "Weekend Update" segment .

Jost interviewed castmate Chloe Fineman , who was dressed up as Siwa in her dramatic, all-black ensemble from the "Karma" music video.

“It’s a pretty big change. I used to be rainbow sparkles, and now I’m black sparkles. I look like if a figure skater joined a street gang,” Fineman said, to which Jost quipped, “I was going to say, if 'Mad Max' was on Broadway.”

The sketch also poked fun at Siwa's recent comments on her musical evolution. During an April interview with Billboard , Siwa said she wanted to create a new genre called "gay pop" (she later clarified to TMZ that she wants to "bring more attention" to queer pop music.)

“I think that’s maybe just pop,” a chuckling Jost told Fineman.

Siwa appeared to welcome the spoof, praising the sketch as "iconic" on her Instagram Stories Sunday. "I literally don't know what to say," she wrote. "3-and-a-half-minute skit on 'SNL'...."
