Seattle Cruise Port Terminals – Pier 91 & Pier 66 (Details)

Pier 91 & 66 terminals seattle cruise port:.

Cruise ships dock in Seattle at the Pier 91 cruise terminal at Smith Cove and Pier 66 cruise terminal at Bell Street.

Bell Street Cruise Terminal is located at Seattle’s Downtown waterfront whereas Smith Cove is located 2.8 miles northwest of Pier 66.

Smith Cove can handle two cruise ships at a time and Bell Street can handle one – or two in transit.

Both these ports handle more than a million passengers every year, setting off for Alaskan voyages, during the season – between April to October – and then rerouted to California for the rest of the season. Both terminals are managed by the Cruise Terminals of America.

Seattle Cruise Port Terminals - Pier 91 & Pier 66

Seattle Port Cruise Terminals:

Pier 91 – smith cove:.

Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Princess, Holland America

Pier 66 – Bell Street:

Norwegian, Oceania

Hotels Near Seattle With Shuttles To Port:

There are many hotels in Seattle near Pier 66 that suit all budgets for pre-cruise and post-cruise stays. There aren’t many near to Pier 91, however, it’s less than a 10-minute drive from downtown to pier 91.

Most of these hotels also provide transfer to the port (paid) on the day of the journey which can take the hassle off of arranging transportation.

All the hotels are within close vicinity of the port and provide an excellent view of the port and surroundings as well as the waterfront. Most of them allow leaving the car at the hotel for a fee if you are planning to arrive by your own vehicle.

It’s a wise option though for cruise passengers to arrive at least a day early and check in to one of the many hotels to avoid last-minute delays and complications.

Hotels Near Seattle With Free Shuttles To Pier 91 and 66:

There aren’t any that provide free shuttles to the cruise terminals. The hotels charge a fee between $8 and $20 to both pier 91 and 66. Alternatively, you can book a taxi/cab from the hotel to the pier which would work out even cheaper.

Seattle Port Address:

Pier 91 – Smith Cove :  2001 West Garfield Street, Seattle, WA 98119

Pier 66 – Bell Street :  2225 Alaskan Way, Seattle, WA 98121

Seattle Airport To Cruise Port:

The Seattle Tacoma Airport – SeaTac (SEA) is the closest to the terminals, is 15 miles from downtown Seattle and would take approximately 25-35 minutes to reach the piers.

The cruise lines provide transfer from the airport, but it would be on the day of embarkation. It’s ideal to arrive at least a day early to acclimate to the place.

There are many options available to reach the port which are:

  • Cruise line transfer – $20 to $30
  • Taxis – $40 – $60
  • Uber/Lyft – $30-$50
  • Private services – $100 – $130
  • Shuttle services – $80 – $100
  • Public – Link Light Rail – $3

Seattle Port Terminals

Seattle Port Cruise Parking:

Seattle cruise port parking is available for cars and oversized vehicles with 1100 parking spaces at Pier 91 and 1500 space-covered parking at Pier 66 terminal. However, oversized vehicle parking is only available at Pier 91. So Pier 66 passengers need to park their vehicles at the pier 91 facility.

If you are planning to drive down, you can park your vehicle for the duration of your cruise. The parking fees are approximately $23-$29 (cars) to $60-$65 (oversized vehicles) per day which is relatively high compared to the other cruise ports.

Online pre-pay parking is available for both facilities.

Embarkation

The Seattle Cruise Port Terminal’s embarkation procedure is pretty simple. You will need to show the terminal officials your cruise paperwork and identification when you get there. Typically, these documents will contain your passport and cruise ticket (if you are traveling internationally).

Your boarding permit and luggage tags will be delivered to you after check-in is complete. Once your luggage has been screened and you have passed through a metal detector, you can move on to the security checkpoint.

You will be led to the boarding area for your particular cruise line after passing through security. You can board the ship from here after leaving your luggage with the porters.

To give yourself plenty of time for the embarkation process, you should get to the terminal at least two hours before your scheduled departure time.

Disembarkation

The embarkation and egress procedures at the Seattle Cruise Port Terminal are comparable. You will be given instructions from the cruise line on when and how to disembark on the final day of your voyage.

On the final morning of the trip, you will typically need to have your stuff packed and prepared to leave by a particular time. Additionally, you’ll need to fill out any required immigration and customs documents.

You must abide by the cruise line’s and the terminal staff’s directions when it is time to disembark. Your boarding card and identity may need to be shown once again.

You will exit the terminal after removing your luggage from the baggage claim area and leaving the ship. The disembarkation procedure should be given plenty of time because, due to the greater number of passengers, it can take longer than embarking.

The Seattle Cruise Port Terminal has a number of amenities to make your embarkation and disembarkation experience more enjoyable.

The terminal has a food court with a variety of dining options, including fast food, sandwiches, and coffee. There are also several gift shops and newsstands where you can purchase souvenirs, magazines, and other items.

In addition, there are several seating areas throughout the terminal where you can relax and wait for your departure. The terminal also has free Wi-Fi, so you can stay connected while you wait.

There are a number of amenities at the Seattle Cruise Port Terminal to make embarking and disembarking easier for you.

If you arrive at the terminal early or have a late flight after disembarking, you can store your luggage at the baggage storage area. You can also retrieve any missing items at the lost and found office.

You can exchange your foreign currency for US dollars at the terminal’s currency exchange office. For your convenience, ATMs are spread out around the terminal.

The terminal also provides a breastfeeding space for moms and a number of bathrooms.

Sightseeing

The chance to tour Seattle is one of the advantages of boarding or disembarking at the Seattle Cruise Port Terminal. Many of Seattle’s greatest attractions are accessible on foot from the station, which is situated in the city’s downtown.

The Space Needle, the Pike Place Market, and the Seattle Art Museum are a few of the well-liked tourist attractions close to the station.

If you have a little more time, you can travel a short distance outside the city to see neighboring sights like Mount Rainier National Park or Snoqualmie Falls.

Numerous businesses provide city tours and excursions from the Seattle Cruise Port Terminal if you would like a guided tour. These excursions can take you to a wide range of locations, such as vineyards, breweries, and picturesque sites around Puget Sound.

In general, those starting a cruise in the Pacific Northwest will find the Seattle Cruise Port Terminal to be a convenient and well-equipped terminal. The terminal is a great option for individuals eager to begin their cruise trips because it provides convenient access to amenities, services, and sightseeing opportunities.

Update, Smith Cove Cruise Terminal, Pier 91 Seattle

Cool Cruiser

Good morning everyone, a few things to share about our new cruise terminal here in Seattle, alot of good a little not so good.

We had our first ship yesterday {Holland America} operations went well,as the terminal is still not complete, still lots of contractors finishing up.

First the good, " once you make it to the terminal ", the terminal itself is state of the art and beautiful, when entering the terminal you will go to the upper level for check in, large picture windows with both ships on either side of the terminal, Princess will be on the east side of the terminal and Holland America on the west side, both ships will be bow first,

kinda like Vancouver's cruise terminal, lots of room uptop with lots of chairs if theres a wait to board a panorama view of The Puget Sound and Elliot Bay, balcony's on both sides as well to walk out onto for the view.

As for baggage claim, exit the ship go to the lower level to claim your bags, this is a very very large open area with lots of room.

I would say this new cruise terminal kinda reminds me of the cruise terminal in Barcelona Spain, has that airport terminal feel to it.

Now for the not so good, traffic, traffic and more traffic, with one road in and one road out, expect delays and plan for them, its gonna be tough getting in and out of the terminal.

Parking....Parking is an off dock parking area [Republic Parking is the operator] away from the pier, with shuttle service to the cruise terminal, give yourselves lots of time if driving yourself and parking.

Pier 91 in Seattle is a shared tenant pier for the fish processing ships for the Alaska fishing industry. So it is a waterfront industrial area, with nothing next to it, no shops, no stores and no where to walk around. The closest restaurant is the Palisades next to the Magnolia marina, however this is a very high end and expensive restaurant, and still not a place you can walk to.

Well there you have it folks, thats our new cruise terminal here in Seattle.

Thanks, guys, you saved me from having to go down there in two weeks to see for myself. I probably still will, though, because I want to see how it stands up with two ships in dock instead of just one.

Woodmnky

Thanks for the heads up on parking/traffic. I am originally from Seattle and know how bad traffic can be, especially since there is a Mariners game at 1pm the day we leave. DH and I plan on leaving Tacoma around 9am and just getting there when we get there. It does sound like there will be a nice waiting area if the ship is not ready to board when we arrive.

Thank you SO much for your report, it's great! I do have one question though - I've watched a few videos of the new terminal and am confused...what are the gangways like? I saw some of the old-fashioned ones (all steep-looking stairs) on the pier, along with this ramp-like contraption. What's the deal? thanks again!

49er

Thanks landnsea for your info about pier 91. Your comparison to Barcelona certainly speaks well of this new facility. Hopefully, the traffic/parking situation will work itself out in time.

Heres what I can tell you about the gangways, the crew gangway is a simple steel gangway that is set in place on the side of the ship with one of our cranes.

Now the passanger gangway is a whole different story, The Port Of Seattle spared no exspense with the purchase of the two passanger gangways, both are the same, state of the art and top of the line mobile gangways that can travel the length of the terminal, hydraulic jackscrews to raise and lower with the tide, might be one of the nicest gangways you will ever walk across.

The rental car contract went to Budget. They have a kiosk at the pier but no cars. They are servicing the pier from the 7th Ave location and will pick you up when you call getting off the ship. TIP: Budget's reservation system will have no idea what you are talking about. Yo have to call the 7th Ave location to get picked up but you can make the rez online.

Now for the not so good, traffic, traffic and more traffic, with one road in and one road out , expect delays and plan for them, its gonna be tough getting in and out of the terminal . -       John, Laura & Gaby Seattle WA

PunkiC on the West Coast Departures board says ''This morning at about 10:00 a.m., I drove down to the pier to check things out. I was happy to learn that they have two access roads into and out of the Pier area --one for private vehicles and one for taxis, trucks and buses.''

Clarification required!

That sounds great! :) I saw the old-style gangways in the video and got a bit worried for a second, glad to hear that they're very nice and modern.

Are any of the shuttle buses from the parking to the pier equipped with wheelchair lifts?

Sherry84

Thank you for all the info, we will be sailing from here in two weeks. I'm just wondering since the pier is so new will the taxi drivers be familiar with it by then, since we will have to take a taxi from our hotel?

Katisdale......you would sure think that the powers to be would have thought that one out, heres what I'll do, tomorrow the Holland America ship that was in friday returns {it did a two day travel agent weekend cruise } when I'am at the treminal I'll get you an answer, but you would sure think so.

Sherry84.....If not, just let your taxi driver know its four miles north of the Seattle Ferry terminal next to the magnolia bridge, pier 91

Does you hotel offer a shuttle ?

I don't know if the hotel has a shuttle, I will definately find out. That would be handy! Anyhow, thanks for the info now we know exactly what to tell the taxi driver so he has an easier time of finding the pier :) Happy Cruising!

They're just like the ones at Terminal 30 were.....steepish and long, though not as long as they were at Terminal 30 (they were like about the length of a football field over there), but ramps rather than stairs.

Oops, dreaded double post.

I was told by the Terminal Manager that at least one of the buses from the parking lot to the terminal will be ADA accessible, but they will not ALL be.
Thank you for finding that out Karen!

Give it time, things will smooth out.

You're more than welcome. Though I don't have a wheelchair or scooter, I do have a seated walker which is pretty large, so it was important for me too. :)

True, this is good information, one of the four shuttle buses will in fact have a wheelchair lift.

Wow....the T.M, friends in high places.

Verified reviews from real guests.

We have more than 70 million property reviews, all from real, verified guests .

How does it work?

It starts with a booking.

The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

Followed by a trip

When guests stay at the property, they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff is, and more.

And finally, a review

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.
