Taylor Swift made a surprise cameo during the 1975 ‘s concert in London at The O2 on Thursday night to deliver the first live performance of “Anti-Hero” from her chart-topping album “Midnights.” She also treated the crowd to a cover of the 1975’s “The City.”

Making an unannounced arrival on stage sporting a shimmering silver dress, Swift took a cheery look around the stadium before picking up the microphone. She acknowledged the crowd with a smile and strapped on her guitar to sing “Anti-Hero,” as captured in fan videos that began spreading like wildfire online.

How do we measure the impact of a musician in 2023? Streams can be bought. Awards can be finessed. Is it when demand for show tickets leads to a congressional hearing about Ticketmaster’s policies? Or when flight attendants shout out a fanbase making a pilgrimage to see a tour opener? Or when TikToks of merch inspirations and setlist predictions rack up millions of views? Nearly a decade ago, a headline ran declaring ‘ Taylor Swift Is The Music Industry’ and those with even the slightest pulse on pop culture can tell she’s only grown more omnipresent since. It all led to a warm evening in Glendale, Arizona where months after delivering her most commercially-successful album to date, Midnights , Swift debuted a discography-spanning setlist that lasted over three hours and kicked off an aptly-named stadium run. The Eras Tour has arrived.

After night had fallen and GAYLE and Paramore revved the crowd up with a mix of recent chart-toppers (GAYLE’s “abcdefu”) and cultural anthems (Paramore’s “Misery Business”), it was time for the main event. At 7:57pm, a timer appeared on a massive screen prompting screams from all corners of State Farm Stadium. Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me” played as fans braced themselves for the arrival of Swift. When the timer hit 0:00, the house we’d seen in the “Lover” music video assembled on the screen, indicating that this evening was first and foremost about reviving the feelings each era evoked.

It’s easy to compare one of Swift’s stadium shows to something you’d see on Broadway — never has that been more true than for The Eras Tour . The setlist is cut up into acts, grouped together by eras for each of Swift’s ten studio albums. For each era/act, Swift went full-send into that album’s look, feel, costume, color blocking, and more.

Many eras got a few songs. At one moment, it seemed like Swift’s soft spot for Folklore would mean we’d hear the entire album. On the opposite end, Speak Now ’s part of the show was short but impactful. Swift played only one song from her third studio album, “Enchanted,” while wearing a stunning floor-length ballroom gown designed by Nicole + Derr. Hopping from act to act, Swift made it extremely clear when she’s taking the audience out of one era and into another. This isn’t a hastily put together setlist with a vague thread of connective tissue — Swift is taking her audience on a nostalgic extravaganza.

Taylor Swift Dominates Entire Top 10 on Hot 100. Again

For “The Man,” Swift completed her Versace look with a blazer and made sure everyone could see the red bottoms when she kicked her feet up on a conference room table as she delivered the masterfully written and scathing assessment of gender inequality in pop culture. Swift closed out the Lover era act with “You Need to Calm Down” and “The Archer,” the latter getting a beautifully stripped down rendition so Swift’s vocals echoed across the stadium: “Because all of my enemies started out friends / Help me hold onto you.”

At one point, as Swift ran through hits from her Fearless era, she flashed a smile and announced to the crowd that she was taking us back to high school with her. The nostalgia seeped into the show, resulting in some of the loudest crowd participation yet, especially from those old enough to have grown up with Swift and were in high school at the same time she was. The singer ran through “Fearless,” “You Belong With Me,” and “Love Story,” reminding us of a time when we discovered the pop phenomenon unbeknownst to the level of celebrity she’d achieve.

Something about Swift — she’s online. If the fact that she decided to end last night with the TikTok-friendly “Karma” doesn’t make that obvious enough, her joke about disliking Evermore hammers home the point. 

Later on in the act reserved for her ninth studio album, in line with how theatrical the event was, Swift set up a beautiful dinner setting only to deliver a heart-wrenching rendition of “Tolerate It.” She also performed “Tis the Damn Season,” “Willow,” “Marjorie,” and “Champagne Problems,” giving fans a sizable taste of the Evermore live experience they weren’t able to receive when the project came out in 2020.

For the acts dedicated to Reputation and Red , fans were treated to a masterclass in visuals and hitmaking, two key elements that has assured Swift prolonged success for as long as she’s had it. The powerful, striking, snake motifs were an awesome callback for fans who attended the Reputation tour.

For Red , Swift went through “22,” “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” and “I Knew You Were Trouble. She closed out the act with a beautiful performance of the 10-minute “Taylor’s Version” of “All Too Well.” In the evening’s most ethereal moment, small white confetti made to look like snow blanketed the State Farm Stadium as she neared the end of her magnum opus, singing “Because in this city’s barren cold/I still remember the first fall of snow/And how it glistened how it fell/I remember it all too well.” Not only is Swift a savant for world-building, but she’s perfected the ability to translate those worlds into the live experience.

Swift wasn’t shy about making sure people got the full Folklore live experience. A makeshift cabin, not unlike the one made during Swift’s 2021 Grammys performance, sat on the stage with Swift perched on it during “Invisible String.” The star also discussed how she finally got comfortable crafting narratives for purely fictional characters, rather than ripping them from the headlines about her life.

1989’s era act turned the party up and restored the energy, with Swift donning a Roberto Cavalli top and skirt and going through “Style,” “Blank Space,” “Shake It Off,” “Wildest Dreams,” and “Bad Blood.”

To cap off the evening, Swift returned to Midnights , performing album highlights “Lavender Haze,” “Mastermind,” and more. It was hard to ignore the immense gratitude the singer continued to exude throughout the evening, with the “thank yous” coming more and more often the closer she got to the end.

Eventually, the singer asked the crowd if they had time for one more and launched into her finale, “Karma,” a track with a passionate chorus that’s begging to be scream-sung in a room of over 70,000 who’ve been waiting for this exact moment for years. Maybe it’s fitting that an artist who’s had more than her fair share of ups and downs, and at times has been the most polarizing musician alive, ends her stadium tour opener with a song about how she can finally protect her peace. Karma’s a relaxing thought, indeed.

Taylor Swift Performs “Anti-Hero” Live for the First Time at The 1975’s London Show

The pop superstar made a surprise appearance during The 1975’s concert at London’s O2 Arena. In television sitcom fashion, the singer was welcomed onstage through a side door that was a part of the band’s home set-up.

In a fan-captured video, Swift is seen in a silvery mini-dress and wielding an acoustic guitar. The night saw her cover The 1975’s fan-favorite “The City,” as well as grace fans with a first-ever live performance of her Midnights hit, “Anti-Hero.”

Swift’s 2022 release of Midnights was breaking records the moment it was released. Lumped into that success has been “Anti-Hero,” a song that recently secured Swift the bragging rights as the first artist to top Billboard ’s Radio Songs chart in the 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s.

It was recently revealed that The 1975 were almost featured on the album as a part of a collaboration that was ultimately nixed. The band’s frontman Matty Healy shared in an interview, “We actually worked a bit on [ Midnights ] but then the version of it never came out.”

Giving little detail as to why, Healy simply explained, “It was for reasons that are not to be criticized. She’s amazing.”

Swift will soon embark on her highly publicized The Eras Tour, an endeavor from which much ticketing controversy has sprung. After millions of fans signed on to purchase pre-sale tickets to the tour’s extensive North American leg, Ticketmaster crashed, then ultimately cancelled public sales due to “extraordinarily high demands.” Consumers were outraged with fans going as far as staging take-downs of the ticketing site, gathering en masse, and filing lawsuits against Ticketmaster .

Despite the controversy, The Eras Tour kicks off on March 18 at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and concludes in Los Angeles, California on August 9 at SoFi Stadium. The tour will feature support from special guests, like Paramore, HAIM, Phoebe Bridgers, MUNA, beabadoobee, and more.

Taylor Swift Surprised The 1975 Crowd With The First Live Performance Of “Anti-Hero”

“The 1975 really said, ‘Alexa, play Taylor Swift.’”

Taylor Swift is currently preparing to embark on The Eras Tour , and she’s getting in some good practice courtesy of one of her favorite bands. On Jan. 12, Swift surprised fans at The 1975’s At Their Very Best tour stop at London’s O2 Arena, where she gave the first performance of her Billboard No. 1 hit “Anti-Hero.” The 11-time Grammy winner also helped the group perform their 2013 track “The City.”

As seen in videos captured by attendees and posted to Twitter, Swift simply walked onstage without any prior announcement, donning a sequined silver dress, and took one sly look around the arena before picking up her guitar. “Is it OK if I sing?” she asked the crowd, which they loudly approved. “I was thinking of doing one that I had never played live before. It would be so presumptuous to say, ‘If you know it, sing it,’ but if you do, sing with me.” She then launched into “Anti-Hero” and quickly learned that everyone in the crowd already knew the words.

London has been the sight of Swift’s recent performances, all of which were entirely unexpected by fans. In July 2022, she joined her friends HAIM to perform a mashup of their “Gasoline” remix and her 2008 hit “Love Story.” That October, she made a guest appearance at Bon Iver’s show to perform their collaboration “Exile” for the first time.

Swift recently confirmed that she began rehearsals for her upcoming Eras Tour , meaning fans at the The 1975’s show just received a sneak preview of one of the songs that will likely make Swift’s setlist . As seen by their Twitter reactions, attendees were absolutely thrilled.

Naturally, fans who missed out on the surprise were a little jealous.

Others simply chose to make jokes about the surprise collaboration.

Unless Swift decides to make another surprise appearance at another artist’s show, fans can expect to see her perform next when The Eras Tour kicks off March 17 in Arizona.

Other than touring, Swift is up for Best Original Song at the Oscars and will soon make her film directorial debut .

The 1975 are coming off a North American tour in support of their latest album,  Being Funny in a Foreign Language , during which Healy made headlines for his on-stage antics, which included  munching raw meat , kissing fans , and getting a tattoo . Here’s What Happened at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Opener: Setlist and More

Taylor Swift opened her Eras Tour at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, last night, giving several songs their live debuts in a mammoth three-hour set. In front of 70,000 fans, she powered through a giant setlist that featured segments on each of her 10 albums while largely focusing on her recent work: Songs from Lover , Evermore , and Midnights got live debuts, and the set closed with an extended suite devoted to the latter. “Is it just me or do we have a lot of things to catch up on?” she teased the crowd, later adding, “To say that a lot of has happened is really an understatement. I can’t even go into how much I missed you because there’s no way to verbalize it.” See the full setlist (along with plenty of spoilers) below.

It is, indeed, Swift’s first full tour in five years. In that time, she has released four new albums— Lover , Folklore , Evermore , and Midnights —and unveiled full “Taylor’s Versions” of Fearless and Red , with more to come in that series. (On the eve of the tour opener, Swift released four more songs: three re-recorded loosies, plus a previously unreleased track .) She opened the show with a Lover suite, kicking off with a medley of “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince” (its live debut) and “Cruel Summer” while strutting around in a diamond onesie.

After changing into a country-singer getup and dressing the stage in era-appropriate decor, she segued into Fearless with an electric-guitar version of the title track, as Billboard notes. The Evermore segment included live debuts of “‘Tis the Damn Season,” “Marjorie,” and “Tolerate It,” as well as a self-aware gag from Swift, who said the album is one that “I absolutely love—despite what some of you say on TikTok… I’ve seen it. I’ve seen all of it!”

Portions of Reputation , Speak Now , Red , Folklore , 1989 , and her self-titled debut followed, pinballing between intimacy and spectacle: acoustic renditions of “Mirrorball” and “Tim McGraw”; a video sequence that transformed Swift into “a Godzilla-esque creature terrorizing a city” (per Billboard ) during “Anti-Hero”; swinging neon golf clubs attacking an animated car in “Blank Space”; and elaborate choreography throughout. Approaching the 200th-minute conclusion, a Midnights -themed finale showcased more than half of that 2022 album, including live debuts of “Lavender Haze” and the surprise set closer, fan favorite “Karma.”

The tour continues tonight with a second show at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, which has been ceremonially renamed Swift City for the occasion.

“It’s been a long time coming but…” Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour is officially underway and taking the music world by storm. Swift announced the tour back in November of 2022 and the internet has absolutely exploded with all things Eras Tour ever since. And rightfully so. From the excruciating process of getting tickets, to the intricate outfit planning by fans, and of course the plethora of planned out ‘Love Story’ proposals we’ve been seeing at shows, it’s safe to say the entire journey of this tour has been well documented by fans online. Now with several shows under her belt we’re finally seeing the culmination of it all as Swift continues to obliterate even the highest expectations for this tour night after night.

As someone who has religiously attended as many concerts as I could for the past decade, I’ve been put in the fortunate position of having seen what I thought was everything. From tiny club shows to sold out stadiums I’ve been witness to it all. Or so I thought. Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour has taken the experience of live music to a whole new level, and believe me, I don’t say that lightly…

The sheer length of her performance is something to be marveled at all on its own. Effortlessly bringing a 44-song setlist to life for what ends up being just over a 3-hour set is no easy feat and Swift continues to execute it flawlessly, her Friday night show in Houston, TX being no exception.

The night began with openers Gracie Abrams and Beabadoobee who were tasked with opening up the show to a very excited crowd anxiously awaiting Swift to take the stage. No easy task to say the least, however both powerhouse performers proved that they were more than up for the job. Gracie Abrams kicked off the show right at 6:25pm with a short and sweet setlist consisting of 4 songs – “Where do we go now”, “21”, “Block Me Out”, and “I know it won’t work”.

Following Abrams, award-winning indie-pop artist Beabadoobee took the stage promptly at 6:55pm to perform her slightly longer 9-song setlist to a welcoming crowd, excited to sing along to the last opener of the night before Swift would take the stage.

Not long after Beabadoobee wrapped up, a giant clock appeared on screen to count down the 3 minutes until Swift would take the stage. The time had come and the entire stadium was buzzing with anticipation…

As the on-screen clock struck midnight (in reference to Swift’s most recent album) and lights dimmed you could feel the excitement of the crowd finally coming to a head as dancers took the stage and just a few moments later Swift would emerge on a raised platform to a greeting of screaming fans. The Eras Tour had begun.

As the title of the tour would suggest, Swift managed to orchestrate a show that spanned her entire career – giving each of her albums (or “eras”) their own dedicated section of the setlist, allowing her to cater the performance to every type of Swift fan out there. Her set opened with songs off of the album “Lover” – perhaps a subtle nod to Lover Fest , a series of shows that were supposed to take place in the summer of 2020 but were canceled due to COVID. Opening the show with the song “Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince” and thus resulting in Swift belting the line “it’s been a long time coming but..” hit fans pretty deep seeing as Swift hasn’t been on tour since 2018 for her Reputation Tour . This show was definitely a long time coming and here we were, finally in the midst of it with a long and wonderful night ahead.

You could feel the sense of awe and adoration that took over every single fan at NRG Stadium that night, completely mesmerized by Swift as she continued to roll through her setlist. With each new era came its own intricate set designs and outfit changes, demanding and keeping the crowd’s attention for every second of Swift’s 3 hour performance. Some eras lasted longer than others, with 7 songs being played from her album Folklore while only 1 song from Speak Now was included on the setlist.

As Swift took fans on a nostalgic journey through her career you could feel the magic pulsing through the stadium as she transformed her stage from a witchy Folklore forest, an intense, high-energy Reputation catwalk, and everything in-between.

As the show started rolling into its final eras, the most anticipated portion of the night had finally come – the surprise songs that would be inserted into her setlist for this night and this night only. For every show on The Eras Tour , Swift has been playing 2 songs each night that would only be played at that particular show. Fans had taken to excitedly awaiting the reveals and making guesses each night as to what the two songs would be. For the Friday night show in Houston fans were lucky enough to get to hear “Wonderland” from the album 1989 as well as “You’re Not Sorry” from the album Fearless – the first time the song had been played live since 2013.

As Swift wrapped up the surprise song portion of the show it was time to finally enter the 9th and final era of the night – Midnights . Playing 7 songs off her latest album, Swift officially brought the night to a close with the song “Karma” and a fantastical performance in a glittering dark blue one piece, sparkling fringe jacket, and an explosion of colorful confetti. A magical ending for an incredible and awe-inspiring show that only Swift could have possibly brought to life.

It’s evident that The Eras Tour has and will continue to impress even Swift’s most skeptic critics. It’s no wonder Taylor Swift is one of, if not the, biggest artists of our time and The Eras Tour is a testament to exactly that.

Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” concert film premiered in October to an enthusiastic crowd of celebrities, fans and of course Taylor’s team, with the star of the film in attendance. As one of the first to see the film, TheWrap got the scoop on which songs from the wildly popular tour made the film, and which songs were cut.

After making speeches in multiple auditoriums for separate audiences, Swift, clad in a sky blue floral-patterned dress (probably in theme for “1989 (Taylor’s Version) with her hair pinned up like the signature bob she had when that album first came out), sat back to enjoy the film’s premiere in one of the IMAX screening rooms with her background vocalists and publicist Tree Paine.

The documentary runs 2 hours and 48 minutes, slightly shorter than Swift’s three-hour setlist and performance, which she has brought to 17 of the United States so far in addition to Mexico. The European leg will kick off in November, with Swift returning for 15 more U.S. shows in October and November of 2024. And now you can rent “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” on digital to watch at home. Read on for the 41 songs that made the cut to truly represent all 10 of Swift’s eras.

Now that the film is heading exclusively to Disney+ for streaming , additional acoustic surprise songs will make it into the film, all of which were filmed during the Los Angeles SoFi shows.

Prove your Swiftie level with these chants, rituals at Taylor Swift's Eras Tour

It seems everyone is a Taylor Swift fan these days. But those of us who were there since the beginning − singing along to "Teardrops on My Guitar" from the backseat of our moms' minivans and saving up our allowances to order brown faux leather "Fearless" bracelets online − know just how special the fan-Swift relationship can be.

And the long-time, die-hard fans have special traditions, too, that new Swifties should know about if they're planning to attend Taylor's highly anticipated Eras Tour.

Here are seven chants and rituals to know going into the concert, so you can prove your devotion to Swift and feel part of the crowd.

'delicate' chant.

At the start of " Delicate ," right after Swift sings "We can't make any promises now can we, babe? But you can make me a drink" the first time, fans have taken to yelling: "One, two, three, let's go b----!"

That's also a fan favorite phrase to spell out on friendship bracelets, which Swifties are making dozens of pre-concert to trade with other fans in the stadium.

'Bad Blood' chant

In 2015, Swift came out with a remix to her hit song "Bad Blood" featuring Kendrick Lamar . During the concert, fans bring back a line of Lamar's part during the bridge.

Twice, Swift sings: "Band-Aids don't fix bullet holes, you say sorry just for show. If you live like that, you live with ghosts." After the first round of this line, fans chant: "You forgive, you forget, but you never let it (beat) go."

'Anti-Hero' remix

In the "Anti-Hero" remix with Jack Antonoff, Antonoff sings "Taylor, you'll be fine" after Swift sings "Did you hear my covert narcissism I disguise as altruism like some kind of congressman?" in the second pre-chorus.

Fans are singing Antonoff's "Taylor, you'll be fine" at the same spot during the concert.

'You Belong With Me' double clap

During the "You Belong With Me" bridge, there are two consecutive beats fans like to clap on.

It comes right after Swift sings "I'm the one who makes you laugh when you know you're 'bout to cry."

'Shake It Off' triple clap

These claps come during the bridge, too.

After Swift says, "You could've been getting down to this sick beat," fans clap three times on the beat before launching into "My ex-man brought his new girlfriend."

Write '13' on your hand

Swift was born Dec. 13, 1989, and has long proclaimed 13 as her favorite number.

During her "Fearless" era, Swift wrote a blue "13" on her guitar-strumming hand for good luck at her concerts. The singer doesn't do this anymore, but long-time fans like paying homage to that era by writing a "13" on their own hands.

For the best results, outline the "13" with black sharpie on the back of your hand and color in with bright blue nail polish. Before the nail polish dries, sprinkle with blue glitter.

Light up the stands during 'marjorie'

Swift wrote the song "marjorie" for her grandmother, who was a professional opera singer.

At recent Eras Tour shows, fans have turned on their flashlights during this song, creating a sea of star-like lights for Swift to look out on as she honors her grandmother.

Honorable mentions

Of course, there are countless other special moments in Swift's three-hour Eras performance. And no two shows are alike, either − Swift typically sings two "surprise songs" during an acoustic section roughly two and a half hours into each show.

Many fans pride themselves on not missing a single lyric as they sing along to each and every song of the night. But there are certainly lines that ring out louder than others as fan favorites, so be sure to chime in:

• The first bridge of the night comes during "Cruel Summer." Look up the lyrics beforehand and be sure to sing the last line of the bridge the loudest: "He looks up grinning like a devil."
• A line in Swift's "You Need To Calm Down" is especially celebrated during Pride Month. Fans in the LGBTQ+ community and allies love to scream-sing: "Cuz shade never made anybody less gay."
• Swift herself mentioned in an interview with Apple Music that she couldn't wait to be in front of a crowd as they all sing "she would have made such a lovely bride, what a shame she's f----- in the head" in the song " champagne problems ." And boy, have fans delivered on that one.
• It's great if you know all 10 minutes of "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)," but the line most fans put a little extra emphasis on is: "f--- the patriarchy."
• Another crowd favorite is in the bridge of "Blank Space," when Swift (and Swifties) sing: "Boys only want love if it's torture. Don't say I didn't, say I didn't warn ya."
• A dance move created and made popular by TikTok user @mikael.arellano made its way into Swift's choreography − and fans love it, too. During "Bejeweled," when Swift sings the word "shimmer," flutter your fingers out in front of you.

Leading up to the release of Taylor Swift ‘s The Tortured Poets Department , one question lingered in the backs of Swiftie minds for months: How would the new album affect the already three-hour-plus setlist of the pop star’s ongoing global Eras Tour?

When the record finally dropped April 19, bringing with it not just 16 pre-announced tracks, but 15 surprise bonus songs as well, their concerns were only exacerbated. How could Swift possibly slim down her pre- Tortured Poets setlist to fit any new material once she hit the road again? Where would she even begin selecting just a handful of the 31 songs on TTPD to include? Would she even bother trying? (Based on a video the singer posted of recent rehearsals for her next run of shows, which kicks off May 9 in Paris, the answer to that last question is most likely a “Yes.”)

It’s no small task, especially given that no matter what the “Anti-Hero” singer cuts or adds, some fans are bound to be upset when their favorites inevitably don’t make the final listing. Even so, Billboard has risen to the challenge, selecting the best possible collection of Tortured Poets tracks to represent Swift’s newest era while trimming the fat of past eras for an updated, ultimate dream Eras Tour setlist.

Some songs were hard to say good-bye to (sorry, “Mastermind”), and others were truly painful to not extend an invitation (don’t hate us, “Guilty as Sin?”). But in service of a well-rounded, comprehensive Eras experience, difficult decisions had to be made. Keep reading to see how Swift should move forward with her trek, Tortured Poets and all — plus, an idea on how her debut album Taylor Swift can finally get its flowers — below.

ACT I: 'Lover'

Note: If you’ve been to an Eras show, you know: There’s no messing with the Reputation set. The already ear-splitting crowd somehow gets even louder as soon as this first notes of “Ready For It” blast through the speakers, and the stadium stays at peak volume throughout the traditional “1, 2, 3, Let’s go b–ch” chant during “Delicate” and the seamless transition between “Don’t Blame Me” and “Look What You Made Me Do.” No cuts.

ACT V: 'Speak Now'

• “Long Live”

Note: Justice for Speak Now . Swift’s third album deserves a proper showcase each night, so we sincerely hope that the pop star doesn’t scrap “Long Live” — which she only added to the setlist four months into the Eras Tour’s first leg — to make room for TTPD.

ACT VI: 'Red'

• “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)”

Note: It may seem like an easy time-saver to simply swap out the ten-minute version of “All Too Well” for Swift’s original five-minute version, but doing so would be robbing Swifties of the best ten-minute segment in the entire show. We simply won’t hear of it. That song aside, the other three hits on this mini-set — similar to the Fearless era — form a perfect bite-sized capsule of the album they represent, leaving no excess behind.

ACT VII: 'Folklore'

• “Betty”

• “Illicit Affairs” (Bridge Only)

Note: Sorry, Folklorians: It’ll always have a special place at the heart of the Eras Tour show, but Swift has now released three new albums since her initial alt-folk pivot — hence the harsher cuts here.

Note: It’s almost impossible to imagine cutting any of the five songs on the 1989 setlist, each of them massive, stadium-rocking hits a full ten years after their original release (three of them peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, while “Wildest Dreams” and “Style” reached Nos. 5 and 6, respectively). A time-saving mashup between two or more of them could, however, be an avenue to explore if needed, with a majority of the tracks boasting similar keys and corresponding musical styles.

INTERLUDE: Surprise Songs

Note: It’s safe to assume that the nightly surprise song section will be where Swift makes up for unused Tortured Poets songs, giving fans the chance to hear acoustic versions of the 20+ tracks on her newest album that probably won’t make it onto the regular setlist .

Note: As Swift’s newest album, Tortured Poets deserves to be the finale. And while, upon first listen, the record may not seem like it has enough stadium-ready bops to close out the show, the above songs 100% have the potential to be converted into the high-energy moments the Eras Tour commands. Just imagine the theatrical potential of “Who’s Afraid,” the meta-ness of a real-life crowd chanting “More!” during “Broken Heart,” and confetti falling from the sky during the final chorus of “But Daddy…” We picture gothic visuals, writing desks, typewriter props, period costumes and lightning strikes during this section.

Now, about that mashup. It’s absurd that Swift has never included any songs from her 2006 self-titled debut album — aka her first-ever era — on the main Eras Tour setlist. But it’s not too late to rectify that.

Picture this: The lights go down after Swift performs “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” Costumes change, a tiger cage and other circus-themed set pieces are wheeled away. Then, the songwriter — her silhouette barely visible under the dim glow of an aquamarine spotlight — sings a cappella the final chorus of the first song about faking smiles in the face of heartbreak she ever released: “Teardrops on My Guitar.” Emphasis on the lyric, “the only one who’s got enough of me to break my heart.”

After she trails off on the last line — “Drew looks at me, I fake a smile so he won’t see” — the stadium comes to life once more as the crowd’s multi-color light-up bracelets go haywire, an explosion of sound filling the space. “I can read your mind,” Swift jumps in, surrounded by dancers as the lights suddenly go up, revealing one last fabulous costume. “‘She’s having the time of her life…'”

Once that’s done, she’ll move on to the finale, flipping off the haters, embracing her truest fans and proudly proclaiming her love for the man of her dreams in one fell swoop with “But Daddy I Love Him,” disappearing offstage before concertgoers have even finished singing along. Fin.

Taylor Swift's New Album Continues A Sad 18-Year Trend That The Eras Tour Setlist Avoided

• The placement of the breakup ballad "So Long, London" as the fifth song on Swift's new album, The Tortured Poets Department, continues Swift's trend of making soul-bearing songs track 5 on her albums.

After just barely avoiding it in the Eras Tour setlist, Taylor Swift continues one of the longest-running trends of her career in her new album, The Tortured Poets Department . On April 19, 2024, Taylor Swift released her highly anticipated 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, along with a surprise second installment containing 15 additional songs. Altogether, there are 31 songs in Swift's The Tortured Poets Department : The Anthology double album.

It has yet to be officially confirmed whether Swift will add The Tortured Poet Department songs to the Eras Tour setlist , but some Easter eggs in a YouTube Short of Swift during rehearsal hint at the addition of a TTPD set when Swift resumes the Eras Tour on May 9 in Paris, France. As is, one song tradition that's been preserved in every Taylor Swift album is noticeably absent from the Eras Tour setlist, but The Tortured Poets Department has kept it alive.

On The Tortured Poets Department, Swift continues the established trend of making an emotionally raw song track 5 on the album by placing "So Long, London" in the loaded slot. On the crushing "So Long, London," Swift finally bids farewell to the titular UK city and her lover after spending too long trying to salvage their broken relationship. Many Swifties speculate that this heartbreaking ballad is about Swift's breakup with her British ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, whom she lived with in London for many years. It was announced back in April 2023 that Swift and Alwyn had parted ways.

While Swift has been bestowing sad songs with track 5 status ever since her self-titled debut album in 2006 , it was a subconscious habit until her fans pointed it out. “ Track 5 is a tradition that really started with you guys ," Swift explained in an Instagram Live session one month before dropping Lover in 2019. " I didn’t realize I was doing this, but as I was making albums...instinctively I was putting a very vulnerable, personal, honest, emotional song as track 5 ."

After "Lover," the following and final song of the opening set is "The Archer," a harrowing, introspective examination of Swift's personal flaws and insecurities in her relationships. "The Archer" is track 5 on the Lover album , but track 6 on the overall Eras Tour setlist. Had Swift arranged the Lover era just a little differently, "The Archer" easily could have ended up as the fifth song on the setlist, corresponding with its placement on the album and furthering her sad song streak.

Swift's performance of "The Archer" on the Eras Tour was initially excluded from The Eras Tour movie in theaters, but was later included in the VOD and streaming versions.

Thanks to the precise order of the songs of the opening Lover era, Swift narrowly avoided the track 5 trend on the Eras Tour setlist , whether she meant to or not. If Swift does add songs from The Tortured Poets Department to the setlist, she will likely have to remove songs from other eras, which could affect the remaining songs' numerical placements in the overall show. Depending on whether Taylor Swift makes cuts to the Lover era to make room for the TTPD set, the Eras Tour setlist may end up joining the sad track 5 club after all.

Since 2018, Taylor Swift has released four new albums (not including the re-recorded ones), and is set to release a fifth: The Tortured Poets Department on April 19. The fandom has grown significantly with each album drop, which means there are plenty of baby Swifties attending The Eras Tour. To help educate the new members, OG fans are sharing what to bring to the Eras concert , cute concert ‘fit ideas , and all of the fan chants to know.

Fan chants are specific phrases typically shouted out during a live performance, and they exist for almost every single fandom. BTS ARMY has a fan chant that lists the names of each of the members, which is said before a song begins or during dance breaks. Sometimes, a fan chant can just be a popular lyric that fans like to scream-sing extra loud during a concert, like the bridge in “Keep Driving” for Harry Styles fans .

One of the most popular fan chants that comes from the reputation era is during Swift’s song “Delicate.” The inside joke actually originated from Swiftie Emily Valencia , who screamed out “one, two, three, let’s go b*tch” at the beginning of the song during a concert. The video of her screaming really took off, and now, even Swift expects to hear it from her fans.

Lyrics: “This ain't for the best / My reputation's never been worse, so / You must like me for me / We can't make any promises / Now can we, babe? / But you can make me a drink”

For many Swifties, going to The Eras Tour feels like a religious experience. That may be why this next fan chant has become so popular with this tour. It happens before the breakdown in “Don’t Blame Me,” right before there’s a heavenly glow of lights on the stage.

If you’d like to partake in scream-singing a fan-favorite lyrics, there is one line in Swift’s 10-minute version of “All Too Well” that is beloved. It’s when she says, “F*ck the patriarchy” — obviously.

In a 10-minute-long song, of course, there is a second fan chant. This time, during “All Too Well,” you want to ask Swift, “How’d that make you feel,” before she says, “That made me want to die.”

Some fan chants are like a call and response, like this one from “Style.” While it’s not as popular as some of the others, it is hilarious. Before Swift starts singing her 1989 hit, just yell out, “ What time is it? ”

Back in 2015, on the 1989 World Tour and during “Blank Space,” Swift did something special at the bridge of the song. Before going straight into “boys only want love if it's torture,” she would add some beats on loop along with chanting the name of the city she was in. Since Swift filmed her show in Sydney for the Taylor Swift: The 1989 World Tour Live film, it’s become an inside joke within the fandom to fan chant “Sydney” during any performance of “Blank Space.”

While that inside joke has kind of fizzled out over the years, it was brought back when Swift performed “Blank Space” in Sydney during the Eras Tour. The “Sydney” chant during the bridge was so loud that you could hear it crystal clear outside the stadium . This fan chant will likely continue for the rest of the 2024 Eras Tour shows, and you can either chant “Sydney” or add in your own city’s name.

Swift sings the OG version of “Bad Blood” on The Eras Tour, but Swifties have been providing one of Kendrick Lamar’s lines from the remixed music video version as a fan chant. It’s when Lamar says, “You forgive, you forget, but you never let it go.” Since Swift released the remix with Lamar for 1989 (Taylor’s Version) , you know she loves it, too.

Lyrics: “Band-Aids don't fix bullet holes / You say sorry just for show / If you live like that, you live with ghosts”

A recent addition to the Eras Tour fan chant list is from when Swift yelled at a security guard at one of her concerts, while defending a fan. While the entire sound from the night went viral on TikTok, the “hey, stop” is specifically a fan fave and is something some Swifties yell out during “Bad Blood.”

Lyrics: “'Cause baby, now we've got bad blood”

Fan Chant: “Hey, stop!”

This fan chant originates from Bleachers’ remixed version of “Anti-Hero.” In this version, Swift’s bestie and collaborator Jack Antonoff says, “Taylor, you’ll be fine,” in the background. It happens during the second verse, so don’t get ahead of yourself. Just remember it goes after “congressman,” and replaces “tale as old as time.”

Lyrics: “ Did you hear my covert narcissism I disguise as altruism / Like some kind of congressman?”

Fan Chant: “Taylor, you’ll be fine.”

Swift added this last fan chant when she replaced “guy on the screen” with “guy on the Chiefs” while singing “Karma” in Argentina. Kelce attended Swift’s Nov. 11 show in Buenos Aires, and the Midnights singer gave a nod to her boyfriend with the lyrical swap.

The OG line “karma is the guy on the screen” was a reference to Swift’s ex and actor Joe Alwyn , so it only seems fitting she’s switched it up with “guy on the Chiefs” to match her current partner. Swifties are loving so much that they’re now saying it during the concert , too.

Lyrics: “ Sweet like justice, karma is a queen / Karma takes all my friends to the summit.”

All the proof Taylor Swift is making first major change to Eras Tour

Welcome to "The Tortured Poets Department" (Eras Tour Version).

It looks like Taylor Swift 's Eras Tour is getting a brand new era, straight from the Tortured Poets Department .

Since the announcement of her new 11th studio album ( which dropped April 19 ), fans have been anxiously waiting to see if her worldwide, career-spanning tour would get a shakeup to accommodate the new music. While Swift is remaining mum, and a rep for the singer didn't respond to an EW request for comment, a new YouTube Short posted to Swift's account seems to provide all the clarity Swifties needed that a change is imminent.

In the video, which is part of Swift's #ForAFortnightChallenge tied to the album's first single, "Fortnight," the 14-time Grammy winner can be seen rehearsing for tour with her backup dancers. While some shots are obviously from the Folklore , Lover , and other existing "eras" of the show, several blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments have never been seen before.

In one, Swift, clad in workout gear, appears to be wearing the same boots seen in her "Fortnight" video . She's holding on to a banister that looks like it has the Tortured Poets Department emblem on it — the "P" and the "D" can just be made out.

Although the video is in grayscale, and therefore exact colors are impossible to identify for sure, several shots feature what looks like a new white-ish mic, which has never been seen before. The new era's color, of course, is also an off-white hue.

Perhaps the most interesting moment of the new clip, though, is one that features what looks like new choreography and costumes. Swift's backup dancers can be seen in top hats and dancing with canes, while she sings in the front middle of the group — choreography and props which have so far not been featured in the concert.

This is all speculative until the tour resumes in Paris, France, on May 9, of course, but if Swift is adding a whole new era, it would mark the first major change to the setlist since Swift began performing it last March.

Throughout the tour, she's made little swaps here or there: She added performances with some of the artists who opened for her like HAIM or Phoebe Bridgers, and she added "Long Live" to the Speak Now section when that re-recorded album released during tour. She also swapped out "Invisible String" for the "The 1" in the Folklore section after news of her split with Joe Alwyn broke.

But, nothing has majorly been added or subtracted from the show, which is already a whopping three-and-a-half hours long. Now, if anyone could pull off adding more runtime to Eras, it's the "Mastermind" herself, but it's more likely that some songs will be getting cut to make room for new material. Fans have theorized that the tracks that didn't make it into the VOD rental of the Eras Tour concert film — "The Archer," "Wildest Dreams," "Cardigan," and "Long Live" — could be first on the chopping block, but we'll just have to wait and see what Ms. Swift has up her cryptic and Machiavellian sleeve.

A New Mexico grandmother is being hailed as a hero after she shot down a runaway criminal who stormed into her home, derailing what was supposed to be a tranquil movie night with her granddaughter.

“Get back. Get back. I have a gun. Get back. Get back,” Anissa Tinnin warned the stranger before firing.

Ten minutes before chaos erupted, Tinnin and her 4-year-old grandchild were singing and dancing along to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour film.

She described the evening with her granddaughter as “extra special,” noting that they shared a meal together and enjoyed baths before plopping down on the couch for the movie.

“We had our popcorn and M&M’s dancing and singing along when our lives were about to suddenly change,” Tinnin wrote on Facebook.

That’s when the stranger — identified by cops as 34-year-old Joseph Rivera — burst through the door in a desperate bid to hide from police.

Albuquerque police were chasing Rivera when they caught him allegedly driving in a stolen car that night. They deployed spike strips to stop him, but Rivera continued driving on the rims of the vehicle until he crashed.

That’s when he took off on foot, hopped a fence into Tinnin’s yard and walked right into her home.

“I jumped over this couch and we met there by the front door … That’s when he grabbed me and was upset and said to give him my keys. He said he didn’t want to go to jail. He did threaten to hurt my granddaughter and me,” Tinnin recalled to KRQE.

The 45-year-old grandmother tried to calm the alleged criminal down, but ultimately handed the key fob over to him so that she could get him to leave her home.

“I told him to not hurt us, that I would do whatever he wanted. I would give him keys, money, whatever it took,” said Tinnin.

As he headed to the car, Tinnin dialed 911 — a call which captured her soothing her young grandchild, who she sent to hide in the bedroom.

“I need you to be really brave right now. I got to go. Stay right here in the bedroom … It’s okay baby,” Tinnin can be heard saying between the girl’s cries.

The fearless grandmother grabbed her gun in case the burglar returned — which he did moments later as he heard police sirens draw closer to the home.

Rivera allegedly burst through the locked front door and charged at Tinnin despite her pleas to stop.

“Get back. get back. I have a gun. Get back. Get back. I will f–king shoot you,” Tinnin warned moments before pulling the trigger.

A wounded Rivera asked the woman why she fired, to which she responded: “Because you’re in my f–king house!”

Tinnin then offered to help put pressure on Rivera’s gunshot wound and bring him water, but warned that she wouldn’t hesitate to shoot him again if he tried any tricks.

Police arrived minutes later, dragging Rivera out of the home.

“I do believe we had a guardian angel here with us and I do firmly believe that God was watching over us,” said Tinnin.

Rivera was charged with burglary, attempting to commit a felony and auto theft — on top of five previous felony convictions for previous burglaries and auto thefts.

He had been wanted for a prior charge at the time of the latest arrest, which he failed to appear in court for when a judge released him on bail.

“This city is a mess. Criminals are ruining innocent people’s lives everyday. I’m sick of keeping quiet about the disaster this city’s leadership has created,” Tinnin chided in her Facebook post.

Taylor Swift shares big video hint the ‘Eras Tour' may be changing

Taylor Swift is taking fans behind the scenes of her “Eras Tour” with a series of clips, and Swifties now suspect there’s a hint as to changes coming to the world-renowned show.

Days after releasing her newest album,  “The Tortured Poets Department,”  Swift posted another YouTube Short video with her hit single “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone,” playing over videos of her and her dancers rehearsing for the tour. But there’s one moment in the montage that has fans doing what they do best: speculating.

Fans will recognize many of the scenes being practiced, such as Swift's iconic entrance from the ground, her performance of "Lavender Haze" in a coat surrounded by clouds, playing "Champagne Problems" seated at a moss-covered piano and more. But one clip, in which Swift stands in the middle of a stage with her dancers lined up behind her wearing top hats and holding canes, did not appear in the original "Eras Tour."

“Since when do background dancers have a top hat and canes?!” one fan with the username armaisacat.1989  captioned a TikTok  of the scene, adding “Taylor Swift you have some explaining to do!!”

The “Eras Tour” is a three-hour, 15-minute concert in which Swift performs songs from all of her albums since her 2006 self-titled debut record. Many — including the TODAY.com staff — have speculated whether or not the pop star would integrate “Tortured Poets Department” as another era in the show.

All will be (hopefully) be revealed when the tour begins again in Paris on May 9.

This is the second YouTube Short Swift has posted since the latest album release. On April 19, she shared  glimpses of her personal life , again set to the tune of “Fortnight.”

In that compilation, her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, makes appearances with the star. The videos are in collaboration with YouTube, encouraging users to post their own “14 snippets” of their lives set to the same song.
