GOOD NEWS, TAYLOR Swift fans: If you missed out on nabbing tickets to the American superstar’s Eras tour , all hope may not yet be lost, because the singer’s concert film has arrived in cinemas across the world — Australia included. And in even better news, you’ll be able to relive the Eras hype again and again, with Swift’s announcement that the concert film has found its forever home on the Disney+ streaming platform.
Below, we wrap up everything you need to know about the Eras Tour Concert Film — including where you can watch it now that it’s had its global release, and when you can expect to find it on a streaming platform.
Will Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour film be available to stream?
While Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour film originally was released to rent at home on Prime Video in December 2023, Swift announced in March 2024 that it will be available to stream on Disney+ from March 14 at 6pm PT — which equates to March 15 at 1pm AEDT.
“I’m thrilled to let you know I’ve found a streaming home for The Eras Tour Concert Film, and that home will be @disneyplus,” Swift wrote on Instagram in February, when she originally made the announcement. She also shared that the extended “Taylor’s Version” of the film will include additional songs previously unseen in the concert film.
“For the first time we’ll be showing the entire concert (including “cardigan”, plus 4 additional songs from the acoustic section!!) and I’m calling it, huge shock, “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version)”.
The film will be available to stream on Disney+ for free with a subscription to the streaming service, from March 15 in Australia.

When was Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film released?
On August 31, Swift took to social media to reflect on her feelings for the massive tour, which began its North American leg in March, 2023, and — following the rolling announcement of international dates — is currently set to conclude in November of 2024 in Toronto.
“The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far,” Swift began her post, before making yet another huge announcement: “I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon.”
“Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America! Tickets are on sale now. Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged.”
The release date caused chaos when it was first announced, with showings selling out across North America and even pushing back other film’s release dates. The Exorcist: The Believer was also scheduled to be released on October 13, but in lieu of Swift’s announcement — and having seen the chaos that’s revolved around the purchasing of tickets — the film’s distributor decided to move its release date forward. “Look what you made me do,” he Tweeted, hashtagging “#TaylorWins”.

Even before her announcement, eagle-eyed Australian Swift fans suspected the film would be making its way Down Under. One fan spotted Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour listed in the ‘Coming Soon’ section of the Hoyts app, with a release date of October 13 — the same premiere date as the United States.

Thread Your Friendship Bracelets, Taylor Swift Has Announced A New Film Of The Eras Tour
The lights are still on and ‘mother’, otherwise known as Taylor Swift , is still out there singing, but that won’t stop her simultaneously releasing a feature-length concert film, will it?
Despite the fact that the star has only just begun her international shows for the tour, she announced the news of the Eras Tour movie on her Instagram.
“The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon,” she shared.
“Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America! Tickets are on sale now. Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged. 1, 2, 3 LGB!!!! (iykyk).”
Note: Non Swifties may need the following explained:
Friendship bracelets refer to the threaded bangles fans are wearing in honour of Swift to the concert, a tribute to a lyric in Midnights song ‘You’re On Your Own Kid’
123, LGB refers to “One, two, three…let’s go b-tch”, the chant Swifties sing at the start of her ‘Delicate’ performance from the Reputation album.
We are on tenterhooks to see this film!
That bit of admin aside, ticketing companies in the US are starting to worry that they might end up going the way of the Ticketmaster debacle, such is the demand.
US movie theatre company AMC has said that they will show the film four times a day on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday to meet demand.
They’ve also upgraded the ticketing service to allow for “more than five times the largest influx of ticket-buying traffic the company has ever experienced before.”
Adding, “But AMC is also aware that no ticketing system in history seems to have been able to accommodate the soaring demand from Taylor Swift fans. “
There’s no denying that the Eras Tour concert film is an exciting time for Swift fans, particularly if they were unable to secure a ticket to the show during the American leg. It’s also an opportunity for those who did go to relive the magic of their Eras Tour experience: dressed head to toe in merch, covered in friendship bracelets and armed with some of Swift’s most eviscerating lyrics.
When Is The Eras Tour Film Being Released?
Will we get all of the surprise songs?
Swift has confirmed that the film will land in cinemas worldwide on October 13, 2023.
However, just before the debut, Swift took to Instagram to announce showings would be made available a day early at select cinemas in the US and Canada.

The Eras Tour film is a cinematic version of Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour. Swift has had camera crews capturing the action across the North American leg of the tour, but the film itself is from the three shows at SoFi Stadium in California.
The film is being released despite the SAG-AFTRA strikes, but no that doesn’t make Taylor Swift a scab. Swift reached an agreement with the unions before production began, and as such the film was given the green light.
Films are nothing new for Swift, the artist released the Reputation Stadium Tour on Netflix, and Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions on Disney+ , The Speak Now and 1989 Tours, and the Miss Americana documentary shot during her Lover era, which is available to stream on Netflix .

Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ Concert Film is Opening in Australian Cinemas Today
By Joseph Earp

Directed by Sam Wrench – who previously handled concert films for Billie Eilish and Lizzo – it’s a 180-minute snapshot of Swift’s global Eras tour.
Cinemas around the world are bracing for a deluge of Swifties descending upon their theatres. As previously reported , the film is looking to make ten million dollars at the Australian box office alone, a colossal figure for a concert film.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour
Rolling Stone has suggested that screenings could have a “ concert -like” atmosphere , with many cinemas offering merchandising for sale at the candy bar. Australia’s Dendy chain is offering those who attend the screenings the opportunity to buy limited edition Swift-branded cups .
The film is said to omit a handful of songs that appeared in the ‘Eras Tour’ setlist – those waiting to see ‘Cardigan’, for instance, will be disappointed. Otherwise, the film is described as a faithful document of the tour.
Those attending on opening night are already publicly making plans to bring along friendship bracelets – a key outfit item of Swiftie standom – and to bathe themselves in all things Taylor Swift. There are multiple screening times for the film each day: head to the Palace Cinema website for their full rundown of their scheduled showings.

Here’s When Aussies Can Stream Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version)
What is Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour?
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is a filmed version of Swift’s three-hour-long worldwide stadium tour that has been travelling since March last year.
It’s nothing new for the singer to release a concert movie, having done the same for nearly all of her worldwide tours , but with tickets for the Eras Tour being so difficult to get a hold of , this movie has meant a lot to Swifties who missed out.
The film isn’t an exact replica of the tour, with some songs being omitted and many of the transitions being cut for time, but it’s pretty close.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour released in cinemas in October last year and became available to rent or buy on VOD platforms in December.
Now, there’s word on how fans can watch the film on streaming.
When and where is the Eras Tour movie streaming?
Taylor Swift herself announced via her Instagram page that the Eras Tour movie had secured a streaming home – that being Disney+.
Disney+ is also home to Swift’s Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions documentary, so it’s not too unsurprising to see the artist teaming up with them again for the Eras Tour movie.
The movie will begin streaming on March 15, barely a month away!
What is new in Taylor’s Version?
One thing to note about the streaming release of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is that it’s also receiving the subheading Taylor’s Version . This means that, yes, the movie is getting an extended version with five additional songs.
Swift’s IG post confirmed that her performance of ‘Cardigan’ from the show as well as four additional “secret songs” from the acoustic section will be included in the movie on Disney+.
Regardless of whether you scored tickets to the show or not, we’ll all be watching the Eras Tour soon enough.

Taylor Swift is one of the biggest names in the music industry. Her 2022 album Midnights marked the tenth entry into her impressive discography and kickstarted the beginning of her Eras tour in March 2023. While on tour across the United States and Mexico, the 12-time Grammy winner pleasantly surprised fans on August 31 with an announcement of the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert movie. If you are in the united states:.
AMC theaters have entered into an exclusive agreement with Swift, allowing only their locations in the United States to screen The Eras Tour movie starting October 13. Canadian theaters will screen the movie as well.
Within minutes of theater tickets for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour being released, the AMC app crashed with fans attempting to buy advance tickets for the movie. This marks the second instance this year where Swifties caused a major website to malfunction, with the first being during the sale for the actual Eras Tour itself. AMC is currently promoting exciting additions for your cinematic experience including Eras Tour-themed popcorn buckets for $14.99+tax and drink cups for $11.99+tax. Exclusive cardigans have, unfortunately, still not been announced.

Will The Eras Tour be on Netflix?
Despite the concert movie's cinematic release on October 13, there has been no announcement about where to stream Taylor Swift: The Era Tour online. Until further notice, the movie is available exclusively in theaters. However, given the record-breaking demand for tickets, it is very likely fans will be able to watch The Eras Tour on streaming services after its theatrical run ends.
You can choose to get notified by JustWatch when a streaming release date is announced by heading to Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour and hitting the notification bell.
How long is Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour?
While an Eras Tour concert typically lasts over three hours on average, the official length of the concert movie is 2 hours and 40 minutes. This makes it much longer than previous Taylor Swift concert movies, such as Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour which is 2 hours and 5 mins.
Who is the director of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour?
Grammy-nominated Sam Wrench is the director of the upcoming concert movie. He earned the coveted nomination for directing Billie Eilish Live At The O2 in 2023. Wrench is best known for his ability in capturing the electrifying essence of a live music event, having also worked on Lizzo: Live in Concert and BTS: Permission to Dance on Stage - LA . He boasts an impressive resume filled with projects from some of the biggest names in the industry including Mary J. Blige, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.
What records did Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour break?
Taylor Swift just keeps adding to her impressive list of record-breaking achievements. The Eras Tour movie shattered the record for the most money made from advance ticket sales in a single day at AMC Theaters, raking in a whopping $26 million. This surpasses the previous record-holder, 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home , by $10 million. Fans achieved this record-breaking feat in just three hours, beating Avengers: Endgame 's record for the most tickets sold within the first 24 hours.
The Eras Tour movie is expected to have an incredible opening weekend, with a projected range of $100-125 million. The top five movies for the year's opening weekends include Barbie , The Super Mario Bros. Movie , Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse , Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania . These range between between $162 million to $106 million, which means the upcoming concert movie has the potential to have one of the best opening weekends of 2023.
Furthermore, the sudden announcement of the movie's release date caused other titles to change their release dates. The Exorcist: Believer , originally slated for the same day, will now premiere a week earlier. Producer Jason Blum playfully tweeted, "Look what you made me do. The Exorcist: Believer moves to 10/6/23.”
What are the other Taylor Swift concert movies?
For those who simply cannot calm down before the release of the movie, there have been a number of projects featuring exclusive access to Swift’s concerts that are available to watch right now. These include The 1989 World Tour Live, which was released on Apple Music in 2015, and 2018’s Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour which is available to stream on Netflix. There were also DVD releases of Taylor Swift: Journey to Fearless in 2010 and Speak Now World Tour – Live the following year.
Swifties alike must ultimately tolerate this Cruel wait with their Gorgeous Style they know Belongs to them. On the Bejeweled side, there are only a few weeks left before they are united by the greatest Love Story on the big screen: Taylor Swift with her Swifties. They are undeniably Ready For It.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will be released in theaters on October 13, 2023.

NOT A DRILL: Taylor Swift Has Just Added Two Extra Dates To Her Australian Eras Tour
Laura Masia
Alexandra Koster
Michael Di Iorio
Soaliha Iqbal
Sweeney Preston
Tiketek made an announcement for the new tickets on Thursday November 9.
“Due to the demand, additional tickets including partially-obstructed side view tickets will be released with prices starting from $79.90,” it read.
“Limited tickets across all the Australian concert dates will be available from Friday 10 November at 10am for Sydney and 4pm for Melbourne until allocations are exhausted.” HUGE!!!!!!!!!
Previously, the demand for the shows prompted Miss Swift to add TWO more Eras Tour Australia dates to her time Down Under.
The queen giveth, the queen provideth.
Miss Swift added an extra show in Melbourne on February 18, and another in Sydney on February 26.
This makes Taylor the first artist since Madonna in 1993 to perform three shows at the MCG. That’s fkn huge.
Tickets for the extra shows went sale along with the original tickets back in June. While it wasn’t great news for our interstate hotties and pals in Aotearoa, it did give a little more hope to the hoards of people who missed out on pre-sale tickets.
If you missed out on tickets (sad), you can check out what resale sites are (and aren’t) recommended to buy tickets from . According to a Ticketek spokesperson, over four million people across Sydney and Melbourne were trying to snag tickets to see our glittery queen last time.
Now that there are more tickets up for grabs, we wish you good luck, godspeed, and may the odds be ever in your favour.
Ahead, we’ve compiled everything (and we mean everything ) you need to know about Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Australia.

- Monday 26 – Sydney, Accor Stadium
When do Taylor Swift Eras Tour Australian tickets go on sale?
For those who were determined to be the first to get their grimy hands on Eras Tour tix in Australia, there were two pre-sale options. One was the American Express VIP package Pre-Sale which happened on June 26 and only sold VIP two packages — not general admission tickets.
After that, regular pre-sale and VIP tickets were available via Frontier Touring on Wednesday, June 28.
Unsurprisingly, the Frontier Member’s pre-sale was an absolute shit fight with many of us missing out.
General tickets went on sale Friday, June 30.
The new additional tickets will go on sale Friday, November 10. Sydney tickets will become available at 10am while the Melbourne allocation will be available at 4pm. What a time to be alive, my friends! Good luck to all!
What are the Taylor Swift ticket prices for Australia’s Eras Tour?
I hope you’re ready to drain your bank account and sell your firstborn because these bad boys are NOT cheap.
If you’re ready to go all out with A Reserve tickets, you’ll pay $379.90 a pop. But if you’re happy to just vibe along and don’t care where you sit, you could cop G Reserve tickets for $79.90.
Here’s how much tickets cost for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Australia:

The Eras Tour is the first tour for the pop star in five years, and she’s performing hit after hit for the duration of the show.
Warning: spoilers ahead.

OG fans will be thrilled to see bops like “Enchanted” and “Fearless” both making the cut for the setlist.
There are tracks off of her fourth studio album Red , including “I Knew You Were Trouble” and the 10-minute (yes, 10-minute ) version of “All Too Well”, so excuse me while I curl up into a ball and sob for the remainder of the day.
“Cruel Summer” also makes an appearance. I’ve never wanted to see someone dancing around on stage in a bedazzled leotard more in my life.
“Lavender Haze”, “Mirrorball” and “Style” are all confirmed for Eras and seriously, Taylor Swift knows what we want and she gives it to us .
Even “You Belong With Me” got some air time. 12-year-old me is screaming .
Tracks from every single album appear to be making the cut. Why doesn’t every artist structure their live performances like this ?
And while many Aussies have been miffed over not having tour dates until 2024, there is a slight silver lining in that we might be able to see more songs from Speak Now (the best album, IMHO) on the setlist thanks to its re-release in July.
Why has there been so much drama over the location of Taylor Swift’s Australian Eras Tour shows?
Ooooh boy, there’s been a lot of whispers about the location of Taylor Swift’s Australian Eras Tour for months now.
It all kicked off from a Tweet posted in March when the oracular gossip site Deuxmoi hinted that Taylor Swift had already booked the country’s biggest stadium, the MCG, for her tour.
“Dates have been booked for Taylor at the MCG in Melbourne, Aus. So she’s definitely coming to Australia!” the Tweet read.
Shortly after this, an anonymous individual claiming to work for the MCG sent the Shameless podcast a DM claiming TayTay is defs on her way.
“Hush Hush but I work for the MCG and dates have been booked in for Taylor,” they wrote.
Per the anon tea spiller, the “You Need To Calm Down” singer will be playing not one but TWO shows at the MCG.
Thankfully, they were right! Yahoo!
Is there any footage of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour?
For the last few months, Australians have been forced to watch footage from the Eras Tour unfold on TikTok, including vids featuring the likes of Hayley Williams , Gigi Hadid , and Emma Stone straight-vibing. TBH, it’s had Aussie Swifties begging for a Taylor Swift Australia tour.
The Eras Tour kicked off on March 17 in the US, and based on the footage, it’s everything we wanted and more.
A ‘yuge thank you to all the overseas Swifties for the glorious footage from the Taylor Swift Eras Tour!
This tour is cracking up to be everything I could ever want in a T Swift tour, the song choices, the wardrobe changes, the set . Phenomenal, truly.

What's new in the Disney Plus version of the film?
Disney Plus' version of the flick will feature Swift's performance of Cardigan, which was previously cut from the theatrical release of the movie, and four additional acoustic songs. You can check out a preview of the Cardigan performance here , in an exclusive early clip on Apple's App Store. Swift had also released the names of the four new acoustic performances leading up to Thursday's release on ABC's Good Morning America (also owned by Disney). Now that the film has officially dropped, we know that the four acoustic songs featured in the Disney Plus version of the film are I Can See You, Death By A Thousand Cuts, You Are in Love and Maroon (which is accompanied by another performance of You're On Your Own Kid). It's important to note that these songs are included at the end of the film, after the credits.
Swift recorded six acoustic songs during filming in August, and the performances of Our Song and You're on Your Own, Kid made both the theatrical and on-demand rental versions of the film. Now, all six performances have found their way into the concert flick, which is an extra treat for super fans like ourselves.
Songs excluded from the Disney Plus cut of the movie include Long Live, The Archer, Wildest Dreams and No Body, No Crime.
The Eras Tour concert film hits streaming on March 14.
Disney Plus is already home to another Swift exclusive, Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions , a series that chronicles the making of her 2020 album Folklore. Swift's other documentaries and concert films have been available sporadically on various streaming services, including Netflix and Prime Video.

In 2022, Swift shared a poster advertising the tour’s initial 27-date U.S. leg on Instagram featuring a collage of photos of herself through the years, from the time of her self-titled debut to Midnights , which dropped less than two weeks prior to the tour news.
“I wanted to tell you something that I’ve been so excited about for a really long time. I’ve been planning for ages and I finally get to tell you: I’m going back on tour,” Swift said on GMA , announcing the news. “The tour is called the Eras tour and it’s a journey through all of the musical eras of my career.”

In a five-star review of the very first show of Swift’s Eras tour , critic Kelsey Barnes wrote how the US star guided fans through more than a decade’s worth of “her best work”.
“Her ‘Eras Tour’ was designed as a journey through that staggering back catalogue of 10 albums, from her earlier country twang on her self-titled debut to the shift to synth-pop on 1989 , then to the subdued folk and alt-rock of Folklore and Evermore ,” she wrote.
“Throughout the opening night of the tour, it frequently feels as though the audience is being caught up with Swift’s past, present and future. In the 44-song setlist that spans three hours and 15 minutes, she shows why the “era” concept is so integral to who she is. Each chapter marks a specific shift in her artistry.”
The Tortured Poets Department, released on 19 April, is the pop titan’s 11th studio album. It appears to have been inspired, in part, by the five stages of grief. Ahead of the release, Swift shared five new playlists that arrange her songs into those stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.
“These songs represent making room for more good in your life,” she says in a brief audio message that accompanied the final playlist, acceptance. “Making that choice. Because a lot of time when we lose things, we gain things too.”

'Tortured Poets' release live updates: Taylor Swift drops 15 extra songs at 2 a.m.
T ick. Tick. Tick. When the clock struck midnight (ET), a meeting of "The Tortured Poets Department" was called to order. Then it was extended at 2 a.m.
Taylor Swift released her 11th era album on Friday ushering in new poetry with dagger-to-the heart ballads and fresh bops. And it included 31 songs altogether after she made a surprise annoucement of 15 extra tracks under the banner "The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology."
As the meeting got underway, the sepia toned department was abuzz, which is why reporters Austin Curtright (a sports reporter and Swiftie) and Bryan West (the full-time Taylor Swift reporter) are collecting highlights for the department's minutes complete with all of the information you need to know about the new album.
Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.
Grab your quills, typewriters and parchment as we dive into the highly anticipated new album “The Tortured Poets Department.”
Travis Kelce is 'So High School'
"You know how to ball, I know Aristotle, brand new, full throttle," Swift sings on track 22. "Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto. It's true, swear, scouts honor. You knew what you wanted, and, boy, you got her."
It's a real-life rom com playing out on a football field. From the 13 games Swift has attended including the Super Bowl to the three countries outside the U.S. that Kelce has seen the Eras Tour : Argentina, Australia and Singapore. The love story has played out in front of millions of spectators.
"Are you gonna marry, kiss or kill me? Kill me. It's just a game, but really, really, I'm betting on all three for us two," Swift sings. It's a nod to a video that resurfaced of Kelce being asked by The Messenger the exact question. He says he would marry Katy Perry and kiss Taylor Swift. (Ariana Grande got the ax.)
Does 'The Anthology' have songs about Kim Kardashian?
In classic Swift fashion, she got creative with her capital letters on "thanK you aIMee," a song about a mean schoolgirl. Or is it? The "KIM" most often associated with Swift is Kim Kardashian , who famously referred to Swift with a snake emoji. (Speaking of which, there are several mentions of snakes on "Cassandra.")
Swift referenced her feud with Kardashian in her Time person of the year interview.
"You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar," she said. "That took me down psychologically to a place I've never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn't leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn't trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard."
'The Black Dog' is a real bar
In this song, Swift refers to a bar, the "Black Dog," that she notices her ex going to one night. He has forgotten to stop sharing his location. Something so trivial invokes incredible sadness and thoughts of comparison, maybe jealousy. Swift writes an invented narrative that the ex is meeting a new girl who won't understand the starting line of a song because she's too young. Part of the lyrics are, "I move through the world with a heart broken. My longings stay unspoken, and I may never open up the way I did for you."
The Black Dog is a London pub located at: 112 Vauxhall Walk, London SE11 5ER, United Kingdom.
The tender whimper on the last note captures perfectly the pangs of saying goodbye to a relationship.
15 extra songs drop at 2 a.m.
Of course, Swift stays keeping her fans on their toes. At 2 a.m. ET, two hours after the initial release of her newest album, Swift released 15 more songs to "The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology," announcing it as a "secret double album."
"I’d written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here’s the second installment of TTPD," she wrote on X.
Here are the 15 new tracks:
- "The Black Dog"
- "imgonnagetyouback"
- "The Albatross"
- "Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus"
- "How Did It End?"
- "So High School"
- "I Hate It Here"
- "thanK you aIMee"
- "I Look in People’s Windows"
- "The Prophecy"
- "Cassandra"
- "The Bolter"
- "The Manuscript"
The best lines from 'Tortured Poets'
All's fair in love and poetry, but mostly poetry. Whether for captions, for comments or for referenced writings, here are some of the best lines when it comes to Taylor Swift's 11th era album : "The Tortured Poets Department." Let the lyrical games begin.
Could 'The Alchemist' be about Travis Kelce?
Could the second-to-last song of Taylor Swift's new album, "The Alchemist," be about her current love interest, Travis Kelce?
The song has the lyric, "Where's the trophy? He just comes, running over to me," which could be in reference to Kelce winning the Super Bowl last season with the Kansas City Chiefs. After the win, Kelce met Swift on the field at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, where the couple shared an intense moment together.
Jack Antonoff 'overwhelmed'
Frequent Taylor Swift collaborator Jack Antonoff, who's one co-writer of "The Tortured Poets Department," shared his thoughts on album on X, formerly known as Twitter, shortly after its release:
"love this album more than i can say," he wrote. ".... love you all very much ... more later very overwhelmed ... love you taylor."
More news may be coming at 2 a.m. ET
Don't go to bed yet, Swifties. It seems as if another announcement is coming after the midnight release of "The Tortured Poets Department," as there's a countdown for 2 a.m. ET on Swift's Instagram account.
It could potentially be bonus songs, similar to how Swift rolled out extra songs for her last album, "Midnights." But who knows with Swift.
The countdown can be accessed by scrolling all the way up or down on Swift's Instagram page.
Track 5: 'So Long, London'
In a heartbreak letter to the English capital city Swift had called home, the singer says so long to London. The choice of this song for Track 5 on her new album "The Tortured Poets Department" is intentional. Throughout Swift's 11 eras, Track 5 is reserved for a special, vulnerable song.
“Track five is kind of a tradition that really started with you guys," Swift said live on Instagram in July 2019 , "because I didn’t realize I was doing this, but as I was making albums, I guess, I don’t know why, but instinctively I was just kind of putting a very vulnerable, personal, honest, emotional song as Track 5."
“So Long, London” puts Swift’s poetry prowess on display. Read more about the track.
'Tortured Poets,' track-by-track
“The Tortured Poets Department” is an asylum full of dashed wedding hopes, cemeteries, drugs, lustful longing and heart-shattering tragedy.
Fans believed Taylor Swift’s new project would mirror “Folklore” and “Evermore,” but they didn’t anticipate the newest music being dressed in synths similar to the vault tracks of “1989 (Taylor’s Version).” You can definitely hear the influence of co-writers, co-producers and close friends Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff .
If the singer’s 250+ song discography were a card catalog, you could track sounds and themes here that run parallel to hits from other eras. Call it the “Taylor Swift” decimal system, and read all about it.
'Florida!!!' is 'one hell of a drug'
The only song in Taylor Swift's discography to include three exclamation points, "Florida!!!" is one of two collaborations on "The Tortured Poets Department.”
Swift teams up with Florence + The Machine for Track 8. Swift's dad, Scott, told fans in Florida, the song about the state was his favorite off the album. Cue the drums, bum-bum-bum-bum-bum.
Read more about the suspense-filled track.
Taylor Swift shares message after release of 'The Tortured Poets Department'
Swift explained the meaning of her new album shortly after its midnight release. Here's what she said:
"The Tortured Poets Department. An anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time — one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure. This period of the author’s life is now over, the chapter closed and boarded up.
"There is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle once wounds have healed. And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted. This writer is of the firm belief that our tears become holy in the form of ink on a page. Once we have spoken our saddest story, we can be free of it. And then all that’s left behind is the tortured poetry."
Taylor Swift name-drops Patti Smith and Dylan Thomas on new song. Here’s why
The chorus of the title track mentions two literary legends and one of the places that connects them: Patti Smith, Dylan Thomas and the Chelsea Hotel.
Swift sings in “The Tortured Poets Department”: “I laughed in your face and said, ‘You’re not Dylan Thomas. I’m not Patti Smith. This ain’t the Chelsea Hotel. We’re modern idiots.”
Dylan Thomas is a Welsh poet and writer famous for " Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night ,” “Under Milk Wood” and “Fern Hill.” Thomas was born in 1914 and died in 1953.
Patti Smith is a famous poet, author, songwriter, singer and painter born in 1947. Her Instagram bio reads, “Writer. We are all alive together.” Smith is still an active writer. She did a book signing in New York City Thursday morning.
The Chelsea Hotel (or Hotel Chelsea or The Chelsea) is in Manhattan. Built in the late 19th century, the 12-story hotel is a New York designated landmark that has famously housed writers, painters, authors and the who’s who of fashionable socialites. And still does.
Stephanie Burt, a Harvard professor who teaches a class on Swift, explained the layers of the lyric.
‘I Can Do It With a Broken Heart’ is quintessential Taylor
“I Can Do it With a Broken Heart” is so quintessentially Taylor , writes national music writer Melissa Ruggieri.
With fluttering synths and an electro-pop beat, it’s structured as one of Swift’s trademark glistening pop gems. But in the lyrics, Swift travels through the most potent psychological exploration of “the show must go on” since Smokey Robinson and The Miracles described “ The Tears of a Clown ” in 1967.
USA TODAY reviews ‘Tortured Poets’
These 16 tracks of pensive pop, out now, are the antithesis to “Lover.” Heartbreak and misery wrapped in melody. Rainbows faded into sepia tone. An era endured not enjoyed.
National music writer Melissa Ruggieri breaks down how Swift pulls listeners into the depths of misery catalyzed by a public breakup while she staged the biggest concert tour in history.
Ruggieri also reveals that "TTPD" is bookended with a prologue – a poem by Stevie Nicks – and an epilogue framed as Swift’s summary report as the chairman of The Tortured Poets Department (Chaos, “leads the caged beast to do the most curious things,” she writes).

Taylor Swift, Post Malone recreate 2019 AMAs hug in 'Fortnight' music video
Turns out, Post Malone has been a part of "The Tortured Poets Department" long before the album's release, as Swift and Malone recreated their famous hug at the 2019 American Music Awards in the sneak peek of the music video "Fortnight," a single from Swift's new album that features Malone.
Track lengths in order of longest to shortest
Spotify announced the track lengths a week before the release. Bonus songs were not included.

- "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys" 3:23

- "I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)" 2:36
Five writers credited on the album
Per usual, Taylor Swift is credited as a composer on all 16 tracks. Two she did by herself: "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys" and "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?" Austin Post (Post Malone) helped with the song he is featured on, "Fortnight," and Florence Welch (Florence + The Machine) is credited on "Florida!!!"
Jack Antonoff, a co-producer of Swift's since her "1989" album, is credited on eight titles: "Fortnight," "The Tortured Poets Department," "Down Bad," "Fresh Out The Slammer," "Guilty As Sin?," "I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)," "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" and "The Alchemy."
Aaron Dessner, a co-producer of Swift's since "Folklore," is credited on five tracks: "So Long, London," "But Daddy I Love Him," "loml," "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" and "Clara Bow."
Credits for the bonus tracks have not yet been released.
Easter egg clues hiding in plain sight
Hours before the Grammys, TaylorSwift.com “crashed” showing an “Error 321 Backend fetch failed.” Error 321 is a communication error that would appear on a fax machine with a poor telephone line connection. Below, “hneriergrd:” appeared to be an unscrambled version of “red herring,” which is a clue or piece of information intended to be misleading or distracting. And underneath that was “DPT: 123.” DPT backwards is TPD, "Tortured Poets Department."
Misheard lyrics: 10 funniest mix-ups from 'Blank Space' to 'Cruel Summer'
Even the most ardent Swiftie can hear a lyric incorrectly, and, as the self-deprecating among us tend to do, can laugh (or would it be shake?) it off.
Maybe you still think Swift is singing about “Starbucks lovers” in “Blank Space” or her “good girl face” in “Style.” Or maybe you learned you were singing some of her lyrics incorrectly from watching The Eras Tour movie with subtitles.
Given Swift’s vast catalog – and her penchant for lyrical loquaciousness – there is a lot of room for error. From USA TODAY music writer Melissa Ruggieri, here are 10 of our favorite mondegreens (the official term for misheard lyrics).
Who could the new songs be about?
Swift, who has released some iconic for breakup anthems over the years, hasn't explained – and likely never will – the real-life inspirations behind some of her heartbreaking songs. However, assuming at least some of the songs from "Tortured Poets" have meaning derived from her love life, Swift's 11th album could include songs about three recent love interests.
Swift has dated, or been connected with, three people since the release of her last album "Midnights": actor Joe Alwyn, musician Matty Healy and current boyfriend Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Deciding which, if any, she sings about will be for the lyric-analyzing Swifties to decipher.
All 11 of Taylor Swift's No. 1 songs, ranked
In anticipation of “ The Tortured Poets Department ,” USA TODAY music writer Melissa Ruggieri ranked Swift’s 11 No. 1 hits (and yes, she probably would appreciate the numerical symmetry to her new album).
Swift drops merch, sneak peek of ‘Fortnight’ video
Just hours before the release of the album Swift officially released merch for it.
Along with the merch drop, Swift also released a sneak peek of the music video for "Fortnight," the first single on her album that features Post Malone. The post on X, formerly known as Twitter, noted the music video will release at 8 p.m. ET on Friday.
"At this hearing, I stand before my fellow members of The Tortured Poets Department with a summary of my findings," the post read. "Album tonight. Fortnight music video tomorrow at 8pm et."
Swift starred alongside Malone in the snippet of her upcoming music video for "Fortnight," which means 14 days or two weeks of time.
Swift's merch includes an assortment of clothing, along with multiple pieces of jewelry and a "The Tortured Poets Department" vinyl case. Each item features the album’s “TTPD” logo.
'Fortnight' with Post Malone to be first single
The opening chapter to "Tortured Poets" is the lead single.
Swift shared the news on Instagram at 2 p.m. ET that her collaboration with Post Malone will hit radio stations. "Fortnight" will also be the music video that airs Friday night at 8 p.m. ET.
"The first single from The Tortured Poets Department is…………. Fortnight featuring @postmalone 🤍," Swift said on Instagram. "I’ve been such a huge fan of Post because of the writer he is, his musical experimentation and those melodies he creates that just stick in your head forever. I got to witness that magic come to life firsthand when we worked together on Fortnight. Honestly can’t wait for you guys to hear this song at Midnight TONIGHT and see the video at 8pm ET TOMORROW."
Announcing Swift's newest chapter
Swift announced her new project at the Grammys after her 13th career win.
"I want to say thank you to the fans," Swift said holding her Grammy for pop vocal album, "by telling you a secret that I've been keeping from you for the past two years, which is that my brand-new album comes out April 19."
The first bonus track announced was "The Manuscript." Two weeks later onstage in Melbourne, Australia, Swift announced a second variant including the bonus track "The Bolter." The following week she unveiled a third variant in Sydney, Australia, with the bonus track "The Albatross." And in Singapore, she revealed a fourth variant called "The Black Dog."
