ABOUT THE BANDS:

With more than 110 million albums sold worldwide and two prestigious Diamond Awards in the U.S., 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame® inductees Def Leppard – Joe Elliott (vocals), Phil Collen (guitar), Rick Savage (bass), Vivian Campbell (guitar) and Rick Allen (drums) — continue to be one of the most important forces in rock music. Over the course of their career the band has produced a series of classic ground-breaking albums that set the bar for generations of music fans and artists alike. The group’s spectacular live shows and arsenal of hits have become synonymous with their name, leading Def Leppard to be heralded as the world’s greatest live rock band. Def Leppard’s influential career includes numerous hit singles and ground-breaking multi-platinum albums—including two of the best-selling albums of all time, Pyromania and Hysteria, capturing the group’s legendary tracks, bringing together classic Leppard hits such as “Rock of Ages”, Pour Some Sugar on Me” and “Foolin.” For the first time, in January 2018 Def Leppard debuted their full recording catalogue worldwide via streaming and download platforms. As they did with the original release of their records, Def Leppard dominated the worldwide charts again, which found their albums charting in the iTunes Top 10 in more than 30 countries, including Hysteria at #3 in the US, and #5 in the UK (36 years after the album had charted at No 1 in the Billboard charts). Def Leppard also had the #1, #2 and #3 records on the US catalogue albums chart. The band have gone on to amass a staggering 5.5 billion streams since 2018, reaching a younger 18-44 demographic that now represents 58% of their fanbase. Additionally, the band have garnered an impressive 15 million followers across their social media platforms. In May 2022, Def Leppard released their twelfth studio album Diamond Star Halos. The album debuted at #1 on the Apple and Amazon Music charts. The album also scored a Top 10 debut on North America’s Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, marking the band’s eighth Top 10 album of their career, and garnered a #1 debut on Billboard’s Hard Rock chart. Diamond Star Halos had numerous Top 10 chart entries globally including a Top 5 debut in the UK. Following the close of their historic 2018 co-headline stadium and arena run in North America, Def Leppard sold in excess of 1,000,000 tickets and the tour grossed over $100,000,000.00, a massive feat in today’s touring world. Def Leppard & Mötley Crüe topped that number yet again with another sold out North American stadium run in 2022 selling over 1.3 million tickets which grossed a staggering $173,500,000.00. As always, the group keep pushing the boundaries with their electrifying live shows.

Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, the quartet —Vince Neil (vocals), Nikki Sixx (bass), Tommy Lee (drums) and Mick Mars (guitars) —  has commandeered the rock pantheon for 41 years. The band has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, garnered 7 USA platinum and multi-platinum albums, 22 Top 40 mainstream rock hits, 6 Top 20 pop singles, 3  Grammy  nominations, 5  New York Times  best-selling books, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a  Netflix  hit movie. Mötley Crüe continues touring the world with John 5 on guitar as they push the visual limits of live performance.

Mötley Crüe  have amassed over 5 billion streams across digital platforms and the band has over 8 million followers on social media. Known for their iconic live performances, the band has sold-out countless tours across the globe in front of millions of fans with groundbreaking production highlights such as Tommy Lee’s drum-rollercoaster and Nikki Sixx’s flame-throwing-bass. They  pioneered the Las Vegas rock residency with a sold out run in 2012. Mötley Crüe’s hit songs  such as “Kickstart My Heart” and “Home Sweet Home” are frequently licensed by major brands such as  NASCAR, Dodge, Coldwell Banker, Carl’s Jr. and KIA  to name a few and their music can be heard on TV hit shows such as  Stranger Things  and  Cobra Kai  amongst many others.

The band’s biography “The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band” became a New York Times best-seller in 2001 and has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. Members of the band have authored 4 additional  New York Times  best-selling books since. In 2019 Netflix premiered “The Dirt” biopic based on the bestselling book which became a global hit movie scoring a 94% positive audience score on  Rotten Tomatoes . As a result, Mötley Crüe gained an entire new generation of young fans who discovered the band through the movie and further solidified their iconic status, relevance and the timelessness of their songwriting.

Fans of the band are also able to buy/rent  The Retaliators  movie on VOD platforms now; Nikki Sixx co-wrote the haunting theme song “21 Bullets”and Tommy Lee makes a cameo appearance in the rock-infused thriller movie. For more info go to  www.retaliatorsmovie.com

Mötley Crüe remains a huge global draw 41 years into their career and, in the summer of 2022 co-headlined a nearly sold out North American stadium tour with Def Leppard. The tour is set to travel to the rest of the world in 2023.

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Alice Cooper pioneered a grandly theatrical brand of hard rock that was designed to shock audiences of all ages.  Drawing equally from horror movies, vaudeville, and garage rock, the group created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood and boa constrictors. He continues to tour regularly, performing shows worldwide with the dark and horror-themed theatrics that he’s best known for.

His 2021 album “Detroit Stories,” inspired by his hometown’s legacy of rock, debuted on Billboard’s Top Album Sales Chart at #1, and his recent “Live From The Astroturf” video/audio release recently did the same on the UK’s Official Music Video Chart.

While preparing two new albums for 2023 release, Alice continues to do his nightly “Nights With Alice Cooper” syndicated radio show, and still manages to tour up to six months each year on the road.  Alice Cooper continues to bring his own brand of rock psycho-drama to fans both old and new, enjoying it as much as the audience does. Known as the architect of shock-rock, Cooper (in both the original Alice Cooper band and as a solo artist) has rattled the cages and undermined the authority of generations of guardians of the status quo, continuing to surprise fans and exude danger at every turn, like a great horror movie, even in an era where CNN can present real life shocking images.

According to Billboard , MÖTLEY CRÜE and DEF LEPPARD 's "The Stadium Tour" sold 1.3 million tickets and earned $173.5 million, making it the biggest tour of either band's career.

The biggest market on the tour, which featured support from POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS , was Boston, where the four acts performed two concerts at Fenway Park on August 5-6 and sold 64,000 tickets for total earnings of $9.3 million. Four individual shows broke the $6 million threshold: Charlotte, North Carolina; Denver, Colorado; Glendale, Arizona; and Inglewood, California. Average nightly earnings hit $4.96 million.

"The Stadium Tour" averaged 37,520 tickets each night, drawing more than three times the audience that each band previously reached on their own.

MÖTLEY CRÜE announced "The Stadium Tour" in 2019, just months after the band supposedly noticed a massive surge in interest following the huge success of the CRÜE 's Netflix biopic "The Dirt" .

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx told Entertainment Tonight that returning to the road with his bandmates has been "unbelievable. I'm so grateful to be doing this, and it started, like, three years ago when the movie came out — two and a half years ago," he said. "We kind of, we broke up the band. We just decided to quit touring. We've been doing it for, god, 35 years at that point."

According to Sixx , he was initially opposed to the idea of touring again with MÖTLEY CRÜE , especially since CRÜE fans who shelled out for the band's 2014/2015 "farewell" tour were led to believe that the group would never return after playing its final show on December 2015 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The band touted the signing of a pre-tour "cessation of touring" agreement as cementing the fact it truly was the end of CRÜE 's life on the road.

" Tommy [ Lee , MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer] does other stuff, and I do other stuff, and I remember getting the phone call from management, and I was, like, 'No,'" Sixx said. "And they go, 'You haven't even heard what I have to say.' And we were friends, and we were fine and everything's good. We're just like, 'No, it's a lot of work.' When you see the show out there, you're gonna go, 'Wow.' I mean, it's years of work putting it together, and then they were like, 'No, not eight arenas, eight stadiums,' and I was like, 'Let me call Tommy .'"

He continued: "I was like, 'Hey, dude, they're talking about us touring,' and he's like, 'No.' Because we wanted to be — stand by what we said, and then it was 16 and 36, which we just entered our 36th stadium, and there's, what, another 120 next year and the year after that, so, we're grateful we said yes."

CRÜE 's long-delayed North American trek with DEF LEPPARD , POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS was originally planned for 2020 and later moved to 2021 and then to 2022.

Last month, MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil said the band will continue touring internationally with DEF LEPPARD in 2023, through Mexico and South America in the spring and soccer stadiums in Europe next summer. Plans are for MÖTLEY CRÜE to return to U.S. for more shows in 2024.

In a 2013 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Sixx said "the most important thing about a farewell tour is that the band doesn't lie to the fans, and the band doesn't tour and then come back years later. That's what's important for us, planning what's the right time to go out."

Three years ago, Sixx said that "The Dirt" , about MÖTLEY CRÜE 's formative years, sparked a renewed interest from younger fans who wanted to see them live, contributing to the band's decision to renege on its infamous "cessation of touring" contract.

"We had an incredible time playing the Stadium Tour in North America this summer and we truly can't wait to take the show around the globe with the World Tour in 2023," Motley Crue shared in a statement. "Crueheads in Latin America and Europe: Get ready!!"

Def Leppard's Joe Elliott added, "After finally getting back on the road and having a monumental summer tour in the U.S. and Canada this year, we're beyond thrilled to be bringing this massive stadium tour to major cities all over the world, and kicking off Europe in Sheffield where it all started for us 45 years ago. We're looking forward to seeing you out there somewhere soon!"

The Stadium Tour — which also featured Poison , Joan Jett and Classless Act — grossed over $173 million this summer and sold approximately 1.3 million tickets across 36 North American dates. It ranked as the biggest tour of any of the bands' respective careers, with a staggering average gross of $4.82 million per show. "Somebody said rock is dead," Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx said onstage at the Sept. 9 tour finale in Las Vegas. "They can suck my dick."

Setlist, Photos + Video – Motley Crue + Def Leppard Play First 2023 Show

Last night (Feb. 10), Motley Crue and Def Leppard kicked off their highly anticipated 2023 “ The World Tour ” at Hard Rock Live at Mark G. Etess Arena in Atlantic City, NJ. It was also Motley Crue’s first show with touring guitarist John 5 – who officially replaced Mick Mars back in October 2022 – making it quite exciting and historic for multiple reasons!

As reported by Ultimate Classic Rock , John 5 was “the first musician to hit the stage, gesturing for the crowd to get loud before launching into the riff for ‘Wild Side.’ He prowled the stage throughout the night, adding a handful of cool new twists and solos to otherwise faithful renditions of Mars' guitar parts.”

UCR also notes that bassist Nikki Sixx introduced John 5 halfway into the show; afterward, “the guitarist took a brief solo spot to lead off the group's nightly medley of cover songs. Later in the set drummer Tommy Lee raved about his new bandmate: ‘And this motherfucker right here, 5... dude, it sounds beautiful baby!’”

As for what they played, they definitely favorited 1989’s Dr. Feelgood , with “Kickstart My Heart,” “Same Ol' Situation (S.O.S.),” “Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)" and “Dr. Feelgood” showing up. Expectedly, they favorited their ‘80s material in general, with other early standouts including “Wild Side,” “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “Too Fast for Love,” “Shout at the Devil” and “Live Wire.”

Interestingly, they ignored 1994’s eponymous LP and 1997’s Generation Swine entirely; however, they did throw in the self-titled track from their last studio record (2008’s Saints of Los Angeles) , as well as “ The Dirt (Est. 1981) ” from 2019’s biopic and even “Primal Scream” from 1991’s Decade of Decadence 81-91 .

Def Leppard didn’t disappoint, either, as they pulled out “Hysteria,” “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” “Rock of Ages,” "Bringin' On the Heartbreak,” “Foolin',” “Let’s Get Rocked” and “Promises.” Thus, they did a great job of representing their whole catalog and career, too.

Of course, it was only about a week ago when Motley Crue shared their first official band photo with John 5 ; while fans have understandably had mixed reactions to the new lineup, John 5 has spent the past few months proving his merits in multiple ways (such as by performing nearly a dozen Motley Crue songs on guitar).

In other Motley Crue news, Tommy Lee recently posted another nude photo on social media (with plenty of entertaining reactions from Twitter). Plus, Mick Mars revealed that he’s not retiring from music altogether. In fact, he’s working on a “huge” and “loud” new project .

So, did you catch this awesome double bill last night? Are you planning to see Motley Crue and Def Leppard – with occasional support from Alice Cooper – at a later date? Let us know!

In the meantime, you can check out photos, videos and the full setlists from last night’s performances! You can also see the remaining dates for “The World Tour” and grab tickets here .

Hints and tips for improving your chances of getting Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe tickets

Make sure you have a my ticketmaster account.

Get the basics covered before tickets go on sale by logging in and checking your Ticketmaster account ahead of time. If you don’t have a Ticketmaster Account then make sure you sign up in advance –  Ticketmaster.com.au .

Sign into your My Ticketmaster account ahead of time

Remember to triple check your passwords, account information, and billing information are all filled in correctly in advance, that way you’re not facing any last-minute account updates when trying to process your order.

Keep your options open with ‘Best Available’

Save time by searching “Best Available,” which scans all sections fast – it’s quicker than searching sections one at a time.

Keep an eye on the clock

There will be a time limit applied to all transactions as you are progressed through the ticket purchasing stages. Remember to keep an eye on the timer on your screen and move through the processing pages as quickly as possible (this is even easier when you’ve completed the account set-up stage we mentioned above).

Don’t refresh your screen

Stick to one window while you’re in the  Waiting Room  and when you’re being pushed through  the Smart Queue  and always resist the urge to refresh.

Hitting the refresh button means you’ll lose your place in the queue and, as frustrating as it can get, patience is the only way to win this game. Ticketmaster is equipped with sophisticated systems that are designed to manage and process ticket purchases as quickly as possible. The queuing system that appears on your screen will place you at the front of the line as soon as possible.

Remember: there are a lot of fans

We’re expecting this to be a very popular event. When a popular event goes on sale there are hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of customers all attempting to purchase tickets at the same time. Tickets are sold as long as seats are available, and when an act is this popular, sometimes they go very quickly.

Be sure to follow the above tips to ensure you have the best chance of snapping up some tickets.

Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard Set Dates For 2023 World Tour

by Jacob Uitti October 22, 2022, 10:22 am

Mötley Crüe  and Def Leppard have announced new tour dates for a joint upcoming 2023 world tour. The two rock groups are slated to hit cities in South America, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and more this coming year.

Videos by American Songwriter

The announcement comes after the bands enjoyed a tour of stadiums in North America over the summer, and now they’re headed abroad.

The new slate of gigs kicks off on February 18 in Mexico City. Later in the spring, they hit South America as well as the U.K.

The band began touring together after a two-year delay due to the pandemic. When they were able to get back on the road, once the COVID-19 epidemic quieted down some, they did so in style to big crowds. Though Mötley Crüe was largely without drummer Tommy Lee, who was only able to perform a few songs each night after breaking ribs in a fall just prior to the shows.

“We had an incredible time playing The Stadium Tour in North America this summer and we truly can’t wait to take the show around the globe with The WORLD Tour in 2023,” stated Mötley Crüe when announcing the upcoming global tour dates. “Crüeheads in Latin America and Europe: Get ready!!”

Fans can get tickets on October 28, with pre-sales starting October 25. For Mexico and South America, tickets will go on sale on October 27, with pre-sales starting October 21.

Check out a promo video for the shows below.

Joe Elliott of Def Leppard performing at Sheffield’s Bramall Lane.

Def Leppard & Mötley Crüe review – from the pathetic to the sublime

Bramall Lane, Sheffield On this co-headline tour, Mötley Crüe are crass and limp, and then shown up all the more by the triumphant power of Def Leppard’s homecoming

“D o you wanna get rocked?” Joe Elliott asks, engaging 23,000 partisan fans with a mischievous glint in his eyes. It’s entirely rhetorical. Introducing Let’s Get Rocked, Def Leppard are so bone-shakingly loud that the football stadium’s hospitality staff are scrambling around to source more earplugs for their flummoxed VIP guests.

This Steel City rendezvous kicks off the European leg of the Sheffield band’s co-headline tour with Mötley Crüe . Leppard’s infamous Los Angeles glam metal tourmates retired eight years ago, having concocted an apparently legally binding agreement preventing them from touring beyond New Year’s Eve in 2015. 2019’s Netflix biopic The Dirt dragged them back in the public eye, and in true rock’n’roll panto fashion, they swiftly announced their return regardless.

Nikki Sixx and John 5 of Mötley Crüe.

On this showing, it’s a calamity that said cessation contract wasn’t irrevocable. In 2023, Mötley Crüe’s live fare is a relic in real time. There’s no denying Dr Feelgood’s propulsive stomp, or Kickstart My Heart’s high-octane riffage, but both Vince Neil’s range and ability to project his voice have all but abandoned him, and the singer struggles to keep up from the get-go. But it’s drummer Tommy Lee – a married, 60-year-old father of two – who best encapsulates the vibe. “Where are the titties? I don’t see one pair of titties,” Lee laments, lingering at the front of the stage. “Shall we pull our dicks out?” Mercifully, he marches back to his kit.

Three days earlier, Def Leppard played an intimate warm-up gig at the city’s illustrious Leadmill venue. That performance harked back to the band’s early, metallic edge at the forefront of the new wave of British heavy metal movement. Tonight, at the home of newly promoted Sheffield United, the approach is a stadium show masterclass, packed with hits from rock’s Premier League. Fittingly, Elliott is donning a red, white and black Union Jack jacket for the occasion – the colours of his beloved Blades.

Hackney-born lead guitarist (and “honorary Yorkshireman”) Phil Collen permeates Animal and Promises with his crisp, electrifying licks, while Rick Allen is inspiration personified. The one-armed drummer – owing to a car crash in 1984 – blasts through an inexplicable solo on Switch 625. Overwhelmed by the response, he leans into his stool and seems to tear up.

Hysteria remains a quintessential rock ballad, as countless smartphones light up the field. Signature song Pour Some Sugar on Me raises the volume another notch with its hook-laden, bottom-heavy rumble. “Sheffield will always be Def Leppard land!” Elliott declares. Having sold 100m albums across five decades – and now doing big streaming business – Leppard have the metrics on their side. This blockbuster homecoming confirms the band’s status as Sheffield’s most eminent musical export.
