For under-23 cyclists, the Tour de l’Avenir is the biggest race of the entire season and their best chance of attracting the eyes of WorldTour talent scouts. Meaning literally 'the tour of the future', this race has launched the career of many big names, with Grand Tour winners Tadej Pogačar , Egan Bernal and Nairo Quintana all standing on its top step in recent years.

The race is, in many ways, a mini Tour de France and features everything from pan-flat sprint stages to cloud-topping summit finishes and testing time trials. Ride well here and not only will a rider guarantee themselves a big contract for the following season, but they’ll also destine themselves for future greatness in races like the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España .

This year's Tour de l'Avenir starts in Brittany, before traversing south-east across France, through the Massif Central and towards the Alps for the race-defining final weekend. The Queen stage will come on stage 6 as the riders take on the Col de la Loze, one of the hardest climbs featured in the Tour de France in recent years and a big test for the under-23 riders.

What happened in the 2022 Tour de l'Avenir?

The 2023 Tour de l'Avenir was won by Belgium's Cian Uijtdebroeks, who rides for Bora-hansgrohe. He became the first Belgian winner in 12 years, and is a rare example of a GC rider from the nation that tends to produce Classics specialists and sprinters.

Uijtdebroeks stayed consistent and safe through the early sprint stages, but really showed off his talent on the final weekend, winning back-to-back mountain stages to steal the lead from Michel Hessmann (Germany) who would go on to finish third, behind Norway's Johannes Staune-Mittet.

Tour de l'Avenir race history

The Tour de l'Avenir was created back in 1961 by Jacques Marchand, editor of the popular French sports newspaper, L'Équipe . The premise of the race was to invite talented amateur riders, known as independents, that weren’t able to ride the Tour de France. This amateur-only premise did work, for a time, but it wasn’t long until the race started to open itself up to pro riders in 1981. In 1992 the entry requirements were restricted again, this time only allowing riders under 25 years of age to participate. This was then cut again in 2007 to riders under 23 years of age, creating the Tour de l’Avenir as we know it today.

Throughout its 60-year history, the race has traversed much of the same ground as the Tour de France and replicated many of the same iconic finishes that the elite riders race on just a few months prior. In recent years the Tour de l’Avenir has spanned anywhere between seven and ten stages, with several rolling stages and a time trial thrown into the first half of the race, before a series of gruelling mountain stages in the French Alps bring an end to the race in the final few days.

The mountains that feature in these stages are the same that also appear in the Tour de France earlier in the year. In the last few editions alone, climbs like the Col du Glandon, Grand Colombier and the Col de la Madeleine have all featured and catalysed some pretty epic GC battles.

The Tour de l’Avenir has been catapulting young riders to super stardom ever since it was first ridden back in 1961. Several Tour de France winners, like Felice Gimondi, Joop Zoetemelk, Greg LeMond, Miguel Indurain, Laurent Fignon, Egan Bernal and - most recently - Tadej Pogačar, are all testament to this. Each one of these riders won the Tour de l’Avenir before going on to win their respective Tour de France titles.

Best of Moscow by high speed train

Sure would appreciate someone who has taken "Best of Moscow by high speed train" from St. Petersburg could please share their impressions of this shore excursion. From the description this sounds like a very long day.

Wondering how the 4 hour train trip was in terms of accommodations, etc. Also what time did you leave the ship and what time at night did you return? Were both legs of the trip on the high speed rail (I read that slower trains also travel the same tracks)?

My wife and I are considering this excursion. We thought that if we are making all the effort to go to Russia then how could we pass up going to Moscow, walking in Red Square, seeing St. Basil, etc.

If you are considering this on the 2015 June Baltic cruise on Voyager; my suggestion is don't. There is so much to do in St. Petersburg and although a train is one of my favorite ways to travel the time would be far better spent in St. P.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, this would be on the Voyager during the 2015 season but not yet sure exactly which cruise.

We did the Moscow excursion "on a different luxury line", but from your brief description it sounds very much like the same trip, so I will operate on that assumption. It is a VERY long day! We left the ship at 5:30 AM and returned at 12:30 AM. The highspeed train trip is comfortable, and while they call it "Business Class" it does not compare well to the equivalent class on say Rail Europe. When we did it in 2011, we did have highspeed both ways, and the trip back seemed much longer as the adrenaline and excitement had worn off!:D

Moscow itself is not that terribly different from any other big city in the world, but this Cold War kid never thought he would ever stand in Red Square, never mind walk the grounds of The Kremlin, or tour The Kremlin Palace, or see (but not visit) Lenin's Tomb, or visit The Armoury. But he did, and he loved every minute of it! Yes, it is a long day, and you barely scratch a scratch on the surface, but it is worth it. There is a tremendous amount to see in St. Petersburg, but every Baltic cruise goes to St. Petersburg, so you can go back if you choose to. Not every cruiseline offers you the chance to see Moscow.

I have not personally done this tour, but our last time in St Petersburg, the private guide that we hired for a day was leading the regent tour to Moscow on the high speed train the next day. He said it was way better than the previous alternative, which was flying to Moscow and back. He said that you actually got to Moscow faster because you didn't have to deal with airline checkin etc. it did seem like a very long day to me, and there is so much to see and do in st. Petersburg that I didn't consider doing it.

We toured to Moscow from St. Petersburg via the hi-speed SAPSAN train last September, from a Baltic cruise on the Oceania Marina. You need to have a two-night, three day port call in St. Petersburg to take this tour because the tour typically leaves the ship around 5:00 - 5:30 AM and doesn't return until after midnight the next day. We didn't take the ship's tour; we made private arrangements with TravelAllRussia for three days of touring, the first and third days in St. Petersburg and the second day the tour to Moscow by train. Our cost for the private tour for three days was about the same as what the ship charged for the excursion to Moscow alone. There are a number of private tour agencies that operate in St. Petersburg and offer the Moscow train tours; we would strongly recommend them over the ship's tours.

All three days had private guides with car and driver. The second day, the driver picked us up at the ship and took us to the train, but we were alone on the train, and met in Moscow by the guide on the station platform. After our tour and dinner, we were brought back to the train and after the return train trip met by the driver and taken back to the ship. Because you are alone on the train you must have your own Russian visas.

If this is your first visit to St. Petersburg, I would agree there is much more to see there. We found Moscow somewhat a disappointment, particularly Red Square. The Kremlin and the cathedral in Red Square were also worth seeing. But the best thing we saw was the Moscow subway! I worked for the Washington Metro system back in the 1980s as it grew from 40 to 80 miles and although I was in the computer area, I learned a lot about the challenges of running a subway system. We used the Moscow system to get across the city from where we had dinner to the train station, and I was amazed at the cleanliness', speed of operation, the short headways maintained, and the courtesy of everyone involved. A very impressive experience!

We had been to St. Petersburg before, and so had the time to take a day and go to Moscow. Also, I really like trains, and the SAPSAN is a German train set running on Russian rails. Seats are like first class domestic air, spacious but not too plush or comfortable, but with enough room. Not too much recline, and almost 8 hours on the train in two shots is a lot for an old man. They come through and sell drinks, candy, etc. but the sellers don't speak English and no one around us helped, so we had just poor coffee once coming, and brought stuff with us for the trip back. Not too much to see from the train either, particularly on the return when it is night the whole way.

If you decide to go, take a private tour and avoid the overly expensive ship's tour. I'm glad we did it, but wouldn't bother to repeat the tour; we've seen Moscow.

I did this on Seabourn. IMO DONT. Take Aeroflop (er Aeroflot). The train has non folding seats where you are literally knee to knee with your fellow passenger (facing each other). Further they don't believe in air conditioning. It's also the worlds slowed bullet train. I think I would have found more enjoyment wandering around the St. Petersburg and Moscow airports.

This is a little off topic,, however we had planned a river cruise in Russia but decided we would rather stay on land and have booked about two weeks with Travel-All-Russia using the private guide and driver. I'm curious as to how you found them as a tour company.

The guides they provided were fine. We had a different guide each of the days in St. Petersburg, but both were flexible, pleasant, knowledgeable and spoke English very well, as did the guide in Moscow, incidentally. She was a bit aloof, distant, not too friendly, but otherwise fine. In fact, she was the one who suggested taking the Metro, which unexpectedly became one of the highlights of the Moscow excursion. If I have a complaint with AllTravelRussia, it is with their plan and its execution (more later).

I had requested emphasis on World War II (in Russia, the Great Patriotic War) sites and info. In scheduling us, they weren't careful about dates and a couple of the sites we wanted to see were scheduled on the third day, after we'd been to Moscow. But both sites were closed that day of the week, and that info was readily available, right on web sites describing them. Also, the included meals (lunches in St. Pete, dinner in Moscow) were not what we asked for: light meals with some choices, so we could avoid things we didn't like and choose things we did like. My request was ignored; we were given full Russian meals with a fixed menu, no choice. On the first day, a fish dish was the entre, but I am allergic to fish. Fortunately, I had the e-mail I'd sent with me and showed it to the guide, and she was able to change my entre to chicken, which was very good actually. But we didn't want a 3-4 course lunches or dinner (in Moscow). We had the guide drop the lunch the third day, although we never got any credit or refund. But, particularly in contrast to the ship's tours, the prices were so reasonable we didn't worry too much about it.

The people who were on the ship's tour to Moscow saw us boarding the same train for which they were forced to queue up and wait on the way back, and asked us what we had done. I was candid and open so they were not happy when I explained what we had arranged and particularly what it had cost. Also, when we returned to the ship, we found they had laid on a late supper for those who had gone to Moscow, so up we went and had something. Well, it turns out the late supper was supposed to be just for those on the ship's tour, but we and others on 'independent' tours, there were a dozen or more of us, crashed the party, actually got there first, and they didn't realize it until the larger group arrived and there weren't enough tables/places set. By that time, the 'independents' had all gotten served and were eating; what could they do?

A couple from the larger group sat down with us and asked us about our tour, and they were the ones I told about our arrangement and its cost. They turned to others who’d been with them and announced the details, loudly enough so the whole room heard, which started a lot of bitching and complaining. I gathered they weren't very happy with the ship's tour to begin with, and this was the straw that broke the camel's back. We finished up and beat it out of there, but overheard later that one of the excursion staff came to check on something and ran into a real mess. I caught a cold on the trip, which forced me to bed the second day following in Tallinn, so by the time we reappeared we heard about the contretemps' but apparently no one recalled who started it, thankfully.

Because of what happened to us, I would probably not use AllTravelRussia if I were to go again, or if I did, I would be sure to get confirmation of every detail of the tour. They do have good reviews generally, and we were certainly helped by their visa department and liked the guides and drivers. Their weakness, I say now with full 20:20 hindsight, is that once the sales person who plans the tour, sells it to you and collects your money, he (or she) transfers the plan to their Russia office for implementation; there is no follow-up to make sure it gets done right. And that is where our problems arose; we paid for a custom tour but got a standard package with a few destinations switched, and no one checked them out, even to see when they were open the day we were scheduled to go. If you check every detail that’s important to you, it should be OK, but that’s a hell of a way to have to do business, in my opinion.

Thank you for the 20/20 hindsight observation on your Russian tour operator, and better priced than the ship's excursion cost.

We had the same experience as you so far as price. We originally booked a Viking Cruise but, hearing some things about the river cruises that made us unhappy, looked into other options. T-A-R cost the same or less than a cruise and had us in hotels for 11 days. We opted for the private tour. They have three tour levels, based on hotels. We originally opted for the four star as it did not cost much more than the three star hotels. Finally we decided to throw it all in and upgraded to five star. In Moscow we will be at the newly opened Kempinsky which is two blocks from Red Square. In St. Petersburg it is the Grand Hotel Europe, one of the most vaunted luxury hotels in Russia. Location is important for us as the tours use up only part of the day so being in the center of everything for our independent touring is important. As with many other cities, the less you pay, the farther out of the center of town you are.

We have been working with our salesman in D.C. and he seems to get back to us with the changes we want. He recently returned from Russia so is up on everything. When I asked they said they paid the full TA commission if I wanted so I got my usual TA on board so he is watching our back and giving us that extra level of comfort. He also set up our air, which I know pays him little or nothing, and got us business class for much less than T-A-R wanted for economy, though it took working for a while with a consolidator. He's happy to get his 10 percent on this trip without having booked it. He also took care of the trip insurance. We've been doing a lot of research on the CC sister site Trip Advisor and will write a report there. We will, I guess, become a source of info for CC members after having spent 5 days in Moscow and 6 in SP.

De jeunes leaders du monde entier vont partager leurs visions et leurs actions pour faire progresser le développement durable lors d'une réunion de trois jours qui s'est ouverte mardi au siège de l'ONU à New York.

Le Forum des jeunes du Conseil économique et social ( ECOSOC ) offre une plate-forme permettant aux jeunes de dialoguer avec les diplomates sur les défis affectant leur bien-être.

Les discussions sont centrées sur cinq des 17 objectifs de développement durable (ODD) : mettre fin à la pauvreté ; l'objectif faim zéro ; l'action climatique ; la paix, la justice et des institutions fortes ; et des partenariats pour faire de ces objectifs une réalité.

Espérer mieux

Ces questions seront examinées lors du Forum politique de haut niveau de l’ECOSOC en juillet, a déclaré la Présidente de l'ECOSOC, Paula Narváez, dans son discours d’ouverture.

S’exprimant en espagnol, elle a affirmé son engagement et sa confiance dans les jeunes du monde entier, dont l’enthousiasme et la détermination sont cruciaux pour construire un avenir meilleur et plus inclusif pour tous.

« Vos idéaux sont la musique de l'humanité, qui ne perd pas espoir – espérer que des jours meilleurs viendront », a-t-elle déclaré.

La pauvreté limite les perspectives

Mme Narváez a noté que la lutte mondiale contre la pauvreté « devient de plus en plus dure », avec seulement un tiers des pays sur la voie d'une réduction du nombre de gens affectés d'ici l'échéance de 2030.

Aujourd’hui, 7% de la population mondiale, soit 570 millions de personnes, vivent dans une pauvreté extrême, a-t-elle souligné, et les jeunes représentent « une partie importante » de ces personnes.

« Nous savons que la pauvreté limite sérieusement les perspectives de développement de nos jeunes, perpétuant ainsi le cycle », a-t-elle déclaré. « Nous devons faire davantage pour nos jeunes, et une partie de la réponse consiste à les inclure dans les décisions publiques ».

Énergie et conviction

S'adressant au forum, le Secrétaire général de l'ONU, António Guterres , a déclaré que l'énergie et la conviction des jeunes sont contagieuses et plus vitales que jamais.

Il a profité de l'occasion pour évoquer la guerre à Gaza, déclenchée par les attaques sanglantes du Hamas contre Israël le 7 octobre.

« Il est grand temps d'instaurer un cessez-le-feu humanitaire immédiat, d'obtenir la libération inconditionnelle de tous les otages, de protéger les civils et d'acheminer l'aide humanitaire sans entrave », a-t-il déclaré, sous les applaudissements des participants.

« Nous avons besoin de vous »

Dans un monde « hérissé de défis, de tragédies et d'injustices – dont beaucoup sont liés », il a félicité les jeunes du monde entier de s'exprimer et d'œuvrer en faveur d'un véritable changement.

« Nous avons besoin de vous », a déclaré le Secrétaire général. « Et je suis pleinement déterminé à impliquer les jeunes dans la prise de décision politique ; non seulement écouter vos opinions, mais agir en conséquence ».

Cet engagement comprend la création d'un nouveau Bureau de la jeunesse à l'ONU et la garantie que les jeunes jouent un rôle important dans la préparation du Sommet du futur de septembre, qu'il a qualifié de « moment charnière pour dynamiser les ODD et revigorer le multilatéralisme ».

Le Secrétaire général a également salué les jeunes qui sont en première ligne dans une action climatique audacieuse. Il a exhorté les gouvernements à adopter des politiques fortes, notamment pour accélérer le passage des combustibles fossiles aux énergies propres, et à créer de nouveaux plans climatiques nationaux alignés sur l'objectif de limiter le réchauffement climatique à 1,5 degré Celsius.

« Et ils doivent impliquer les jeunes dans ce travail – de manière significative. La transition vers les énergies renouvelables doit être juste et durable », a-t-il dit.

Le pouvoir de rêver

Sarah Baharaki, Ambassadrice mondiale de la jeunesse auprès de l’association caritative pour l’éducation des enfants Theirworld, a souligné la situation dans son pays natal, l’Afghanistan, qu’elle a fui après le retour au pouvoir des Talibans il y a trois ans.

Les autorités de facto ont interdit aux jeunes femmes de travailler et de fréquenter l’école, mais la jeunesse afghane « refuse de garder le silence » et prend les choses en main en manifestant et en défendant ses droits, a-t-elle déclaré.

Elle a souligné que même si l’éducation est vitale pour réduire la pauvreté, les conflits et la crise climatique, plus de deux millions de filles n’ont pas accès à l’école en Afghanistan « et des millions d’autres sont dans un état d’incertitude en Ukraine, en Palestine et au Soudan ».

Alors que l’échéance des ODD n’est que dans six ans, « il est temps d’agir et de prendre les bonnes décisions car nous sommes en retard », a-t-elle dit.

Mme Baharaki a souligné la nécessité d'impliquer les jeunes dans les processus décisionnels et a appelé à un plus grand soutien de la part des gouvernements, du secteur privé et de la société civile.

« Non seulement parce que nous représentons 16% de la population mondiale », a-t-elle déclaré, « ou parce que nous sommes jusqu'à présent la génération la plus instruite, mais aussi parce que nous avons le pouvoir – le pouvoir de rêver d'un monde meilleur et le courage et l'audace de faire de ces rêves une réalité ».

Deux saisons auront suffi à Ethe B pour reprendre l'ascenseur (photos)

Ethe b remonte d’un échelon dans le paysage provincial. mais aussi en interne puisque la formation sacrée ce jeudi en p3 va plus que probablement devenir l’équipe fanion du club..

Cela n’avait pas été le cas la saison passée, bouclée à une étonnante et décevante 8e place, la faute à un noyau trop étriqué et un excès d’absences. Mais cette fois, Ethe B, présenté comme le grandissime favori dans la course aux lauriers en 3e provinciale B, a assumé son statut même si Florenville B lui a longtemps opposé une résistance plus que coriace. Vainqueurs de Sainte-Marie-sur-Semois ce jeudi soir (5-2), les joueurs de Steve Gustin comptent désormais sept longueurs d’avance sur leur dauphin florenvillois, à deux journées du terme. Ils rejoignent donc Harre-Manhay (P1), Libin (2B), Gouvy B (2C), Arlon B (3A) et Champlon au palmarès de cette campagne 2023-24. Quelques heures, peut-être, avant Assenois (2A) et Roy A (3E) qui peuvent coiffer les lauriers ce week-end.

Pour battre Sainte-Marie ce jeudi, les pensionnaires du stade Charles Servais ont pu compter sur Tinant, leur meilleur artificier, auteur des trois premiers buts de la partie avant de céder sa place. Et avant de voir Sainte-Marie revenir à 3-2 grâce à un joli lob de l’ex-Cassidje Pacolli et un penalty converti par Romani. Mais Zanchetta (qui pourrait remiser les crampons en fin de saison) et Brichard ont rassuré l’équipe locale et ses quelque 200 supporters.

Championne de P3 A en 2017, sortie des rangs à l’aube de la campagne 2019-20, puis remise sur pied en 2022, cette équipe B d’Ethe n’aura donc mis que deux ans avant de fêter le second sacre de son histoire. Et d’être appelée à devenir l’équipe fanion du matricule 1491 puisqu’il se confirme que l’équipe A actuelle va disparaître.

Neuf succès de rang

"Ethe B a les meilleures armes, seront-elles suffisamment affûtées ?": tel était le titre de notre présentation à l’entame de cet exercice 2023-2024. La troupe de Steve Gustin a finalement bien répondu aux attentes. Auréolés du statut de meilleure attaque de la série (80 buts jusqu’ici) et surtout de meilleure défense (20), les Vert et Blanc ont confirmé les espoirs placés en eux et récolté les fruits d’une saison qui avait pourtant mal débuté. Des résultats en dents de scie en Coupe associés à deux défaites après cinq journées seulement remettaient déjà en relief les habituels pronostics d’avant-saison. Mais les Gaumais, sûrs de leurs forces, ont su rebondir et n’ont finalement plus connu la défaite depuis cette fameuse 5e journée, soit le 23 septembre.

Ce jour-là, Ethe était dominé outrageusement et défait 1-3 par son actuel dauphin, Florenville B, avec lequel il a livré un véritable mano à mano jusqu’au bout ou presque. Les Cassidjes n’auront finalement chipé la première place aux Bleus qu’il y a deux semaines en profitant des faux-pas de leur principal adversaire et en enchaînant surtout une série de neuf victoires consécutives au second tour.

Un 10 à l’arrière et un défenseur en 9

Les hommes de Steve Gustin ont certes impressionné par leur réalisme offensif en piquant quand il le fallait, mais ils ont surtout pu se baser sur une énorme solidité défensive. Avec une colonne vertébrale indéfectible à la base de laquelle se trouve le portier Benjamin Noël, souvent intraitable dans les un-contre-un et particulièrement rassurant pour ses équipiers. Devant lui, la paire centrale composée de Saint-Guillain et du capitaine Lescrainier, numéro 10 reconverti en défenseur central avec une franche réussite. À côté d’eux, la sobriété de Craye et Marchal aura été d’une brillante efficacité. Sans parler des deux chiens de garde devant cette défense, Labarbe et Van de Woestyne, avec qui il est relativement compliqué de répliquer physiquement tant l’impact qu’ils mettent dans les duels est impressionnant.

Complémentairement à cette sérénité défensive, les Cassidjes ont su faire parler la poudre et plutôt deux fois qu’une avec un total de 75 buts jusqu’ici. De son flanc gauche, l’expérimenté Tinant a notamment connu une saison faste avec 24 buts à son actif. Nicolas, défenseur central de formation, est lui monté de deux crans pour occuper la position de n° 9 avec brio, en pesant constamment sur les défenses adverses et en inscrivant 11 buts. À côté de lui, sur le flanc droit, la fougue et la vivacité du jeune Woygnet (17 ans) ont embelli les pelouses de P3 et il était écrit qu’il ne ferait pas de vieux os à ce niveau. Pour agrémenter tout cela, les Verts ont pu compter sur l’expérience et l’apport de Petit qui est monté en puissance au fil de la saison, à l’instar de Douret qui s’est bonifié en seconde partie de championnat et a planté quelques roses importantes (10 au total).

Réactions de champions

« Mon premier titre »

Maxime Nicolas, avant-centre d’Ethe : « Mon tout premier titre. Auparavant, je n’avais fêté qu’une montée avec St-Léger via le tour final. C’est chouette, on a su faire fi des problèmes internes au club et rester focus sur l’objectif avec un groupe soudé. Au début, il a fallu que la mayonnaise prenne. À un moment, on avait plusieurs points de retard, mais aussi des matches de retard. On n’était pas trop inquiets. Même si je viens de P1, c'est agréable de jouer en P3 avec ce groupe et cette position d'avant-centre (NDLR : il jouait comme défenseur auparavant) m'a permis de prendre énormément de plaisir. Même si je suis passé à côté de ce match pour le titre. C'était sans doute ma pire prestation de la saison. »

"On commençait à avoir des doutes"

Steve Gustin, T1 d'Ethe: « Un titre qui fait du bien. Il arrive peut-être un peu plus tôt que prévu dans la saison, mais Florenville a craqué sur la fin. On est resté régulier jusqu’à maintenant, mais on s’est fait un peu peur inutilement dans ce match du titre. On a failli gâcher la fête. On n’a perdu que deux points depuis le mois d’octobre donc c’est assez mérité. On a achevé la saison en beauté. On commençait à avoir des doutes parce que Florenville gagnait des matchs par un ou deux buts d’écart et on se disait qu’ils avaient la chance du champion. Mais on a quand même gardé une certaine sérénité et ce sont eux qui ont craqué. Il reste deux matches, on va faire profiter les joueurs qui ont moins joué depuis le début de saison. »

"Attendus, au début surtout"

Théo Devaux, médian d'Ethe : "Nous étions trois à venir de Saint-Mard cette saison (NDLR: Marvin Craye, Fabio Zanchetta et lui) e t je ne regrette pas mon choix. Je joue avec une bande de copains et les résultats ont suivi. Deux revers, deux nuls et rien que des succès pour le reste, c'est tout de même pas mal, même si les gens attendaient peut-être plus encore vu notre noyau. Si nous étions attendus à chaque match ? Au début surtout. Nos adversaires avaient à coeur d'accrocher le favori et de remettre en doute nos ambitions de montée. Mais on a répliqué avec un super second tour, on a assumé nos responsabilités."

"Chapeau à Florenville B"

Kevin Petit, ailier gauche d'Ethe : « Chapeau à Florenville B pour nous avoir tenu la dragée haute jusqu’ici. Dans l'ensemble, on a été régulier et consistant. Sur les derniers moments, on s’est quand même dit qu’ils jouaient bien donc on a eu un peu peur mais on s’est dit qu’on allait rester focus sur nous-mêmes. La saison prochaine ? On verra. Dans un premier temps, je dirais qu'il faut viser le maintien voire le milieu de tableau. »

"C'est mon cinquième"

Anthony Marchal, 45 ans, arrière gauche d'Ethe : "Mon quantième sacre ? Le cinquième. Trois avec Ethe, un avec Bleid et un autre avec Châtillon. Soit quatre en P3 et un en P2. Cette saison, c'est le succès d'un chouette groupe. Au début, la mayonnaise a eu du mal à prendre avec sept ou huit nouveaux joueurs. Mais le groupe s'est soudé et Steve Gustin a bien mis tout ça en place. En octobre, c'était parti, nous étions lancés. On s'est inquiété quand même en voyant que Florenville ne lâchait rien, mais on a tenu le coup et émergé dans la durée. La suite pour moi ? Je ne sais pas. J'envisage d'arrêter, mais j'ai déjà bien dit dix fois que j'arrêtais... On a vécu une mauvaise expérience en P2 avec Châtillon, mais ce n'est pas le même noyau ici. Je me laisse encore le temps de la réflexion. L'âge est là et c'est quand même une division au-dessus. En P3, vous pouvez encore vous permettre de jouer surtout sur votre métier, anticiper les erreurs. En P2, les bons ballons peuvent venir de partout."

"Des inconstances à certains moments"

"Thibaut Lescrainier, défenseur central d’Ethe: « Un titre qui fait du bien à tout le monde. C’était l’objectif du début de saison. On a eu des inconstances à certains moments, surtout en début de saison, mais ensuite, on a enchainé les victoires au bon moment, même avec des matches compliqués. On attendait toujours le faux-pas de Florenville, qui ne venait pas. Il a fallu patienter longtemps. Pour la saison prochaine, en tant qu'équipe promue, on va prendre match par match et on verra où ça nous mènera. Mais au début, le maintien est la priorité. »

Labarbe en a assez

Kevin Labarbe, 37 ans et fidèle serviteur de cette équipe cassidje, rangera sa tenue en fin de saison. Fabio Zanchetta, un an plus jeune, pourrait l'imiter.

Noyau A et anciens

Aubois, Lenoir, Masson, Leyder ou Huberty, ils étaient quelques-uns du noyau A à assister à ce sacre de l'équipe B. On a aperçu quelques anciens du club aussi, comme Donovan Maury, Jean-François Woillard, Philippe Gomrée ou Renaud Coso (qui s'est blessé à la clavicule et doit mettre un terme à sa saison avec Martelange). Ancien coach des Verts, Sébastien Bach était présent lui aussi. Et pour cause, désormais arbitre, il a été désigné pour diriger cette rencontre, à la satisfaction générale d'ailleurs.

Élections au Tchad : le Premier ministre Succès Masra "convaincu" de gagner dès le premier tour

Le Premier ministre de la transition du Tchad, Succès Masra, a accordé un entretien à France 24 et RFI. Candidat aux élections prévues le 6 mai, il se dit "convaincu" d'être élu président dès le premier tour. "Je représente une force politique que je considère même majoritaire dans ce pays", abonde l'ancien opposant. Il affirme ainsi que le défunt président Idriss Déby Itno n'avait pas osé "l'affronter lors d'une élection" en 2021, et estime aujourd'hui être en "meilleure condition de l'emporter".

Le chef du parti "Les Transformateurs" et Premier ministre de la transition du Tchad Succès Masra a répondu aux questions de France 24 et RFI, depuis la capitale tchadienne, N'Djamena.

Il était l'un des principaux  opposants au maréchal et président Idriss Déby Itno , tué le 19 avril 2021 par des rebelles.

Signant un accord de réconciliation avec son fils, l’actuel président de la transition Mahamat Idriss Déby , Succès Masra est devenu son  Premier ministre le 1 er janvier . Le 10 mars, il a ensuite annoncé sa candidature à l'élection présidentielle du 6 mai. Une candidature qualifiée de "farce" par l’opposition.

Pour celle-ci, le retour de l’ancien opposant dans le camp présidentiel s'inscrirait dans un accord secret entre lui et le président de transition, avec un double objectif : légitimer l'élection de Mahamat Idriss Déby, et reconduire Succès Masra comme Premier ministre. 

"S’il y a un accord, présentez-le", répond Succès Masra aux journalistes de France 24 et RFI. Il assure qu’entre lui et Mahamat Idriss Déby, les différences "sont connues". "Nous sommes dans une cohabitation qui ne dit pas son nom", estime encore le Premier ministre, qui dit se battre pour que "la démocratie soit la règle au Tchad".

La France "SDF" sur le continent africain

Le Premier ministre s'est aussi exprimé sur l'avenir de la présence militaire française au Tchad , alors qu'un contingent d'un millier d'hommes et trois bases militaires françaises sont installés dans le pays.

Fin décembre 2023, l'armée française a plié bagage au Niger, après avoir quitté le Mali et le Burkina Faso.

"On pourrait éviter à la France cette image", soupire Succès Masra, regrettant que "les forces de défense et de sécurité françaises aient l'impression d'être devenues des SDF sur le continent africain".

Succès Masra "souhaite être à la tête d'un État Tchad solide, partenaire sûr avec lequel la France peut travailler". Mais "dans ce partenariat, il y a des choses qui relèvent du siècle passé", prévient-il. Aujourd'hui, "l'approche française [en Afrique] est appelée à évoluer."
