Paulina was our guide and she was simply amazing. Her knowledge and expertise around the history of Rome and the sites we visited was exceptional. She was so sweet and kind, and it felt like being on a tour with a close friend. She took us places we never would have journeyed to had we not been on the tour. This was the perfect way to see Rome in a shorter period of time with my 73yo mother. The walking would have been a bit much for her, so this tour was a fantastic approach. We absolutely recommend this tour and Paulina to anyone considering booking! Well worth it. And at the end she wrote down some of her favorite places for food, coffee and gelato…none of which disappointed! Thank you Paulina! -Maria_L ( see more reviews )

Our guide Alice was a joy–she navigated the winding, crowded, Saturday night streets of Rome with skill. This is a wonderful way to get the lay of the land of Rome–the tour passes by so many big areas (Colosseum, Spanish Steps) as well as neat, less known ones (the Monti area) that we wished it had been our first night in Rome rather than last. And the joy of seeing all these places lit up for the night was immeasurable–they are breathtakingly beautiful at night, and aside from the effect of riding over all those cobblestones(!), this is the best way I can think of to see the city. There is an immediacy to seeing it from a golf cart, too–and yes, there are seat belts! -Kathleen_S ( see more reviews )

Tips for Taking a Golf Cart Tour in Rome

Before you embark on this unique adventure, here are some essential tips to enhance your golf cart tour experience in Rome.

✅ Book ASAP 📅

The best golf cart tours in Rome are booked up super fast! So, book now! Most of the time, they allow full cancellation up to 24 hours in advance if booked on Viator.com .

✅ Dress Appropriately 👚🧢

Rome’s weather can be quite warm during the summer. Wear comfortable clothing , sunglasses, and a hat. Always carry water with you. During the winter, make sure to dress in layers and have a jacket or a coat because it is open-air and can be quite breezy. And women if you think you might be stepping foot into a church make sure to have those shoulders covered. I recommend carrying a shawl or scarf in your purse that way you are always prepared while in Italy.

✅ Comfortable Shoes 👟

Even though you’ll be using a golf cart, there will be instances where you’ll need to get off the cart to explore an attraction, walk into a restaurant, or simply stretch your legs. Comfortable walking shoes will make these moments more pleasant. Rome’s streets and alleys, especially in the historic center, are often made of cobblestones. These can be uneven and sometimes slippery. Good shoes with a solid grip will help prevent trips, slips, or falls.

✅ Tipping 💶

In Rome, people don’t always tip, but it’s nice to do so for tours. For golf cart tours, you can give 10-20% of what the tour costs if it’s a small group. For bigger groups, €5-€10 for each person is okay. You might give a bit more if the guide is great or the tour is long. It’s best to give tips in cash directly to the guide.

There are two tours I highly recommend doing in Rome. The first is a Golf Cart Tour of Rome and the second is a tour of the Colosseum . A golf cart tour of Rome is the best and most fun way to get an introduction and overview of the city. The Colosseum is the #1 attraction in Italy and one of the most famous attractions in the entire world. There is so much interesting history and facts that you will miss if you do not do a guided tour.

Yes, you can drive a golf cart on the road in Rome, Italy but I do not recommend it. People in Rome drive crazy! 😱 It’s best to take a golf cart tour so you can sit back, relax, and leave the driving to an experienced Rome driver.

Catacombs of Rome

When in Rome, one of the coolest things you can do is tour the catacombs…in a golf cart!

That’s right, for a small group of up to 6 people, you can tour all the top sights and some hidden gems in Rome while enjoying a comfortable ride.

On the tour, you’ll see the Colosseum, one of the most popular attractions in Rome.

Why You Should Tour Rome in a Golf Cart

While avoiding crowds, I was able to see all of the top attractions the city has to offer. And with my knowledgeable guide, I learned about the history and culture of Rome in a fun and interactive way.

Here are some things to consider when deciding if a golf cart tour is right for you.

  • It’s a perfect solution to see Rome when you don’t have a lot of time. You can visit top Rome attractions and save yourself the hassle of driving. The summer months (June through September) are extremely warm, and you don’t want to feel hot and exhausted.
  • Golf carts can go just about anywhere and are very maneuverable, plus it’s a unique way to tour Rome.
  • The tours can be tailored to your interests. Private tours will pick you up from your hotel, discuss your interests, and tailor the tour to your group’s delight while giving interesting bits of information along the way.
  • Golf cart tour guides will know the perfect places for photo opportunities and take you to places that you would never know to go on your own. This will help you create lasting memories of your trip.
  • Whether your travel group has an age range from 7 months to 70 years old, a golf cart tour will allow to you cover the entire city without feeling rushed or tired.
  • Families can tour attractions together in a golf cart and engage with one another. Unlike a tourist bus, you won’t be disappointed with seating that a sprawled and inconsistent.
  • It’s a great way to tour Rome while you relax and recharge for the rest of your journey through Italy

Things I Learned About Touring Rome in a Golf Cart

When choosing a tour,  safety  should always be the top priority. Tour companies are usually vetted in advance so you don’t have to worry about it.

Before you purchase Viator tickets, they make sure that the tour company has a good safety record and that they follow all the necessary safety regulations.

The safety features and maintenance of the golf carts must meet standards so that you can tour in comfort!

Consider the  route of the tour  and the places you will be visiting.

The tour guides will know the best way of getting to each attraction, so they may take you through busy streets or narrow alleys.

Most tours will be a drive-by option where you can see attractions and take a few photos.

If you need a tour that provides you with enough time to enter and explore, the golf cart option may not be the best way to see Rome unless you purchase a private tour.

A knowledgeable and friendly  tour guide  can make a big difference in your overall experience.

Not only should they have a good command of the language, and history, they should make your tour interesting, engaging, and memorable.

Our recommendations work with locals that are experienced and informative guides who can answer your questions and provide interesting insights into the sites you will be visiting.

Tour Duration

Check the  duration  of the tour and make sure it fits your schedule.

You should also check the forecast for weather conditions.

If you are traveling during a season that may rain, check to make sure that you have a free cancellation option before booking.

Last but not least, consider the  cost  and what is included in the tour’s price.

Ensure that you are getting the best value for your money by comparing the prices and services of different tours.

Things to Know Before You Go

With these tips, you will be better equipped to see the ancient ruins, grandiose churches, and fountains, with a bustling population of over two million people in Rome on a golf cart.

  • A good guide will be flexible. Discuss topics of concern before the tour begins and ask if there will be breaks for drinks, restrooms, etc.
  • To save time on the tour and reduce stops, bring a water bottle and snacks with you.
  • Some tour operators will allow you to do a bit of driving on an easy route without traffic, of course. Ask in advance if this is an option, and make sure you bring your driver’s license.

Not in a restaurant or in an osteria, but in the heart of Rome, in a wonderful neighborhood in the Jewish ghetto! Let yourself be involved in a  typical Roman lunch , living a unique culinary experience  designed just for you !

The Best Viator Florida Tours for This Winter

The Best Viator Florida Tours for This Winter

As the winter season approaches, Florida becomes a haven for adventure seekers and leisurely vacationers alike. No matter how many times we’ve visited the state, we’re never sick of it. To fully immerse ourselves in the wonders of the Sunshine State, we often embarked on a guided tour. That’s why we want to show you our favorite Viator Florida tours today.

What we love about this travel platform is that it curates an extensive collection of tours designed to unveil the state’s hidden gems. While we love exploring a city on our own, joining a tour can also be fun. From sampling Miami’s best cuisines to witnessing St. Augustine’s iconic Nights of Lights, the following tours made our trips a lot more memorable. It’s safe to say that the activities below promise an unforgettable winter experience.

90-Minute Christmas Carol Trolley in Sarasota

Last Christmas, we had the pleasure of taking a 90-minute Christmas Carol Trolley in Sarasota , and we can’t recommend it enough. It was a magical winter experience that was perfect for our team. First, we have to talk about the trolley. We were shocked by how festive the decorations were. Not to mention, the cast of characters was absolutely delightful. They sang Christmas carols, told us stories, and even shared funny jokes.

On top of that, the tour took us through some of the city’s most charming neighborhoods, including the historic downtown area and the gorgeous Bayfront. Luckily for us, we had our camera ready, so we were able to take countless pictures. Our favorite part was when we stopped at a park to hear real Letters to Santa. It was such a heartwarming moment.

Key West Southernmost Food and Cultural Walking Tour

Visiting Key West soon? Consider joining the Key West Southernmost Food and Cultural Walking Tour , an exciting Florida tour Viator has to offer! This is arguably the best way to experience the subtropical paradise’s food and culture. One of the things we liked the most about this tour was its three-hour duration, which was long so we could take our time in savoring each cuisine. Also, who says walking tours are tiring? This tour allowed us to explore Old Town at our own pace. Just make sure you wear your most comfortable travel shoes and a winter down jacket in case you can’t stand the cold. Based on our experience, Key West was still warm even in winter.

Overall, the tour was very well organized. During those three hours, we could visit four different local food establishments, which we probably wouldn’t have known if it wasn’t for Maxwell, our lovely guide. Also, whenever we arrived at each spot, everything was already properly set up for us. Finally, this is a small-group tour with a maximum capacity of 12 people, offering you a more personalized and private experience.

Little Havana Food and Walking Tour in Miami

We recently had the opportunity to take the Little Havana Food and Walking Tour in Miami , and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious way to experience this vibrant Cuban enclave. Our guide, Helena, was extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and enthusiastic. She led us through the heart of Little Havana, stopping at a variety of hidden gems for tastings of traditional Cuban cuisine.

Among all of the food we tried, the Cuban sandwich was our favorite. The flan ice cream was good, too. In addition to food sampling, we also learned a lot of fun facts about the local history and culture by visiting Domino Park, the Cuban Memorial, and other cultural attractions. Moreover, what made this walking tour more special was that we were also offered a mojito for free. Overall, the tour was so fun, and 2.5 hours felt like an hour. It’s probably one of the best Florida tours Viator has to offer for foodies.

Evening Cruise Through Downtown Ft. Lauderdale

Since winter in Ft. Lauderdale isn’t as cruel as the other parts of the country, joining the Evening Cruise Through Downtown Ft. Lauderdale may be a great idea. We had low expectations about the cruise, but we ended up having tons of fun. We weren’t only able to enjoy some of the most beautiful waterfront scenery in the world but also meet new people. Also, we still have pictures from this cruise, and most of them are pictures of the views of Las Olas Boulevard and Port Everglades from our boat.

We highly recommend this tour because it’s a great way to avoid those crowded bars and restaurants. It allowed us to have a more intimate experience with our loved ones. The music was great, and we were able to enjoy our favorite drinks. We were allowed to bring our drinks and use the cooler boxes for free. Just make sure you don’t spill your drink or fall into the water! We think this may be the best Florida tour on Viator for groups of BFFs.

Romantic Miami Private Plane Tour With Champagne

The Romantic Miami Private Plane Tour With Champagne , one of the best Florida tours on Viator, is a must-do for couples visiting The Magic City. We truly can’t think of a better way to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy a romantic evening together. We had a lot of fun with this tour. The views of Miami from the plane were simply breathtaking, and the champagne toast was the perfect way to top it all off. Considering how it can help keep you warm, you’ll appreciate the champagne.

Are you new to Miami and can’t recognize the landmarks from above? Don’t worry; we were the same. Luckily, the pilot gave us headphones so he could tell us what we were passing and the interesting facts about the city. If you think you’ve seen the best of Coconut Grove and South Beach, wait until you see them from above! Also, for a better experience, you may want to choose the flight during the day so you can see things more clearly.

St. Augustine Nights of Lights Private Golf Cart Tour

During our visit to St. Augustine last year, we joined the Nights of Lights Private Golf Cart Tour , and it was one of our trip’s highlights. It was a festive and enchanting way for us to experience the city’s neverending glow during the holiday season. This Viator Florida tour is made for small groups of up to five people. There were four of us, along with the fantastic guide, so it was just nice. Plus, our golf cart was flawless. It was in perfect condition, so we were able to enjoy our tour comfortably.

“This tour was simply fabulous. We loved Karl! He was an excellent driver and he told us a lot of interesting stories about the city.” WOW Travel

In case you’re wondering, this tour lasts from late November to January. It transforms the historic St. Augustine into a dazzling spectacle of more than 3 million sparkling white lights adorning trees, buildings, and the city’s landmarks. We met our guide near the Ancient City Brunch Bar, and from there, we were taken to witness Flagler College, the Old Fort, and other famous attractions before returning to the meeting point. Best of all, we were accompanied by cheerful holiday music throughout the ride. We couldn’t help but feel the rhythm and move our bodies!

Where to Stay in Florida

Depending on which tour piques your interest, you may want to stay in one of the following places. First, let’s start with St. Augustine. Also known as the Nation’s Oldest City, it’s a city rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. From exploring the historic landmarks to relaxing on the beach, there are so many things to do there. If you’re a beachgoer, you should stay at one of these best beachfront hotels in St. Augustine, Florida ! But if your family includes a four-legged member, you may want to check out these pet-friendly hotels in St. Augustine instead.

Then, there’s Miami. When we’re talking about Miami, stunning beaches and vibrant cultural scenes immediately pop up in our minds. Visiting Miami during winter is also a good idea as it’s not as crowded as in the summer. To enjoy the beach to the fullest, you should take a look at these beachfront hotels in Miami Beach . But if you want something more opulent, perhaps the best luxury hotels in Miami suit you more. Or, for family vacations, you surely can’t miss these luxury vacation rentals in Miami .

Next, we have Fort Lauderdale, another vibrant coastal city in Florida. With lively nightlife, charming canals, and beautiful beaches, who doesn’t like this city? To match its vibes, you should spend your nights at one of the best spa hotels in Fort Lauderdale . And since it’s also a romantic city, why not reconnect with your loved one at one of the most romantic hotels in Fort Lauderdale ?

You can’t talk about Florida without talking about the island of Key West, which offers travelers a blend of history and natural beauty. We’ve been to Key West a few times before and were always stunned by its beautiful sunset. It’s also a great place for outdoor activities like diving and kayaking. For accommodation options, you can check out our special list of the best boutique hotels in Key West . And since the island is all about inclusivity, these gay-friendly hotels in Key West are worth checking out, too.

Is Florida worth visiting in winter?

There’s never a bad time to visit Florida. The weather during winter is usually mild and sunny, so you don’t have to bring too many winter coats.

What part of Florida is best to visit in December?

There are so many places to visit in Florida. If you’re into a hip scene, you may want to visit Miami Beach or Key West. But to experience luxury, Naples should be your go-to city. And for something rich in history, you should go to St. Augustine.

Does it snow in Florida in winter?

Snow is extremely rare in Florida, especially in the central and southern portions of the state.
