Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds  have released an uplifting new single ‘Wandering Star’ today – you can listen below.

Yesterday, Gallagher teased that new music was on the way after sharing a snippet of the new song from his upcoming, third EP., ‘Blue Moon Rising.’ The EP will be released on March 6 2020.

Speaking about the single, Noel said: “It was written in Abbey Road last November on the same day I wrote ‘Black Star Dancing’.

“It’s that good, it sounds like it took 5.4 people to come up with it. It’s already a live standard and we haven’t even played it yet.”

Gallagher recently released the acclaimed ‘This Is The Place ‘ – the second of three EPs coming in 2019, following on from June’s ‘Black Star Dancing.’

Reviewing Gallagher’s Manchester-inspired ‘This is the Place’ EP,  NME  wrote : “To quote Tony Walsh’s poem on the treasures of Manchester:  “It’s ace, it’s the best and the songs that we sing, from the stands, from our bands, set the whole planet shaking ”. While Gallagher’s done well to remember that, he’s gone back to his roots but taken them to strange new places.

“Imagine what  Oasis  could have been if they’d have had the bravery to match this bombast in their latter years.”

Gallagher also recently announced a huge one-off headline show at London’s Kenwood House for 2020.

Hear Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ New Song ‘Wandering Star’

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds has dropped a reflective new single “Wandering Star.” The song comes off the band’s upcoming EP, Blue Moon Rising , which is set for release May 6th, 2020.

Gallagher, who produced the track himself, premiered the song on BBC Radio 2. “It was written in Abbey Road last November on the same day I wrote ‘Black Star Dancing,'” the musician said in a statement. “It’s that good, it sounds like it took 5.4 people to come up with it. It’s already a live standard and we haven’t even played it yet.”

The EP will include three original songs, as well as two remixes of the title track. The EP is available for preorder via the band’s website . The release follows Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ This Is The Place EP, which arrived in September and also featured three original songs and two remixes. Prior to that, the group unveiled their Black Star Dancing EP in June, Gallagher’s first new music since 2017.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are currently on tour in Australia with U2. The band will also perform in Bangkok later this month and have announced a show at London’s Kenwood House next June. Tickets are on sale now.

Definite festive vibes...

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have premiered a new song called ‘Wandering Star’ from his forthcoming ‘Blue Moon Rising’ EP.

Produced by Noel himself, ‘Wandering Star’ is the second song on ‘Blue Moon Rising’ and, although not strictly a Christmas song, it has a definite festive vibe thanks to the sleigh bells at the start and the clanging bells throughout the song.

Noel says of 'Wandering Star': "It was written in Abbey Road last November on the same day I wrote ‘Black Star Dancing’ (his June EP). It’s that good, it sounds like it took 5.4 people to come up with it. It’s already a live standard and we haven’t even played it yet.”

Released on Friday 6th March 2020 on digital and vinyl formats, the ‘Blue Moon Rising’ EP features three new songs – the title track, ‘Wandering Star’ and ‘Come On Outside’ – plus two alternate versions of ‘Blue Moon Rising’.

The ever-prolific Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds previously released the ‘Black Star Dancing’ EP in June followed by ‘This Is The Place’ in September.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are currently touring Australia and New Zealand with their good chums U2.

In tenuously related Oasis news, a free Oasis photography exhibition is launching in London this month to celebrate the 25th anniversary year of the band’s landmark breakthrough album ‘Definitely Maybe’.

‘Masterplan 25 – Michael Spencer Jones - Iconic & Unseen Photographs of Oasis’ runs at h Club London in Covent Garden from Friday 22nd November 2019 to Sunday 12th January 2020.

It features iconic and unseen photos from eminent rock photographer Michael Spencer Jones who shot the artwork for the Oasis’ first three albums ‘Definitely Maybe’, ‘What’s The Story (Morning Glory)?’ and ‘Be Here Now’, some featuring his brother Liam Gallagher .
