Exploring Caribbean

5 Best Caribbean Islands for Young Adults

Known for stunning azure waters, great rum, beautiful beaches, great watersports, and out-of-this-world snorkeling adventures, the Caribbean sounds like a dream destination for many. Add to that the huge number of carnivals and festivals that take place here year-round, beach parties that go on until the early hours, and refreshing cocktails, and you can see why this region appeals so much to the younger generation.

Aside from a good party atmosphere , if you’re a young couple, a young group of friends, or even if you’re planning a solo trip to the Caribbean, you’ll likely want to know which destination is best suited to you.

To help you out, we’ve compiled a list of the top five Caribbean destinations for young adults, looking for a picture-perfect island escape.

Known for its stunning beaches, lines with white sands, and bright blue waters, Curacao is a gorgeous, and more importantly safe destination. Popular even with solo female travelers, you can rest assured that this is one of the safest Caribbean spots to visit if you are planning a girl’s vacation or a solo trip.

When it comes to a girly getaway or even just a romantic experience for a honeymoon, one thing many travelers enjoy about Curacao is the many opportunities to get up close and personal with wildlife! Playa Piskado (Fisherman’s Beach), is a gorgeous spot where you can swim with sea turtles, and Jan Thiel Beach offers visitors the opportunity to get in the waters with local dolphins.

Just want to see the fish and corals? Worry not, as Klein Curacao, a small island located near the mainland of Curacao is a great place for snorkeling. At this place, you can even see the famous pink lighthouse, and discover the amazing history of this unique island. (After all, what’s a girl’s getaway without a trip to a pink lighthouse?)

Curacao is a great spot for the younger crowd due to its vibrant nightlife and great cuisine. Much of the food here is finger food, making it a great option for those who like to eat on the go when moving from one bar to the next. Snacks here are uniquely Dutch Caribbean, so be sure to try some of the most popular ones, such as Bitterballen and Frikandel whilst you’re there.

There’s a great selection of nightlife here, with many expats moving to Curacao to enjoy the great bar scene. Curacao is a great destination if you’re looking for delicious restaurants, amazing beach clubs, and great Casinos.

St Maarten / St Martin

Like the sound of trying out the Dutch Caribbean but aren’t certain it’s for you? A trip to St Maarten (or St Martin) is just what you’re looking for! Half Dutch and Half French, this unique Caribbean Island offers both cultures, one on each side of the island.

Beautifully dressed performers on a street at the Marigot Carnival

Head on over to the Dutch side of the island to enjoy great shopping options, watch planes landing over at Maho Beach, and enjoy a vibrant, bustling atmosphere after the sun sets. Watching airplanes land at Princess Juliana Airport is a great opportunity for thrill-seekers, where many young people gather on Maho Beach to update their social media with stunning videos of this breathtaking sight.

If you’re more of a foodie though, you may want to spend more time over on the French side of the island, where you can enjoy some of the best culinary experiences the Caribbean has to offer.

If vibrant nightlife is at the top of your wishlist for your getaway, then Aruba is one of the best destinations you can choose. With gorgeous, sunny weather, and a great range of things to see and do on a vacation here, it’s a popular spot amongst many young travelers.

Whether you’re looking for great nightclubs, relaxing cinemas, fun-filled bowling alleys, stretching golf courses, spacious casinos, or exciting bars, there’s plenty to see and do on a trip to Aruba.

Malmok beach in Aruba full of kite surfers

With a shorter rainy season than most other Caribbean destinations, running from October to January each year, Aruba is a great place to visit if you want glorious sunshine all year round, making it a perfect place to relax on the beach with a tropical cocktail in hand.

Aruba is home to a great variety of attractive beaches, such as the ever-popular Palm Beach, Malmok Beach, Baby Beach, and Eagle Beach. Flamingo Beach is another popular choice amongst tourists, as it allows visitors to get up close and personal with a huge flock of gorgeous pink flamingos! This beach is located on a private island and is accessible via private boat transfers.

St Thomas, US Virgin Islands

If a vibrant nightlife isn’t at the top of your list, however, you may be more comfortable with a trip to a destination like St Thomas.

Located in the US Virgin Islands , St Thomas is a great destination for solo female travelers, as it is incredibly safe, and is a haven for duty-free shopping, as each visitor (including children) is permitted $1600 each in duty-free purchases back to the US.

Calm waters on Sapphire Beach in St. Thomas

If you’re a US citizen, it’s also a great option if you don’t have a passport. US citizens can visit the US Virgin Islands without a passport, so long as you don’t plan on island hopping to the British Virgin Islands (as you will need a British Passport to enter these).

Beaches in St Thomas are simply gorgeous, with two of the most popular ones being Magens Bay Beach and Coki Beach. Magens Bay Beach is located at the Northern end of the island and is a popular spot for both tourists and locals, boasting calm waters and a relaxing environment. Coki Beach, on the other hand, is the best spot if you’re planning on going snorkeling, especially if you’re new to the hobby, or just trying it out for the first time.

When it comes to nightlife, there’s a great selection of beach bars and restaurants in the areas of Haven Sight, Red Hook, and Frenchtown. Thankfully these are all located near one another, making it easy to go bar-hopping on a night out.

Puerto Rico

If you’re looking for a destination with great entertainment, Puerto Rico is a great call. Another gorgeous island US Citizens can visit without a passport, this vibrant US territory, is a great destination for those looking for a relaxing, sunny place to party.

One great spot on the island recommended to the younger crowd is La Placita de Santurce, which is a market by day, and by night, a great place to meet new friends, eat good food, and dance the night away. If you’re looking to meet some of the locals and have an authentic Puerto Rican night out, then this is the place to be.

Aside from the upbeat nightlife, there’s a great selection of beaches here too, with Flamenco Beach being one of the island’s very best, and is a firm favorite of tourists and locals alike. This beach boasts gorgeous calm waters, which are simply perfect for scuba diving and snorkeling.

Bonus: Jamaica

Of course, we can’t list all these great destinations across the Caribbean that are popular with young adults, without mentioning the well-loved and ever-popular Jamaica!

This may be the first destination that comes to mind when thinking of a party island in the Caribbean, as it’s known for its laid-back atmosphere where you can drink, dance, and smoke to your heart’s content.

That said, there’s plenty more to love about Jamaica if you’re a young adult, including delicious cuisine, beautiful beaches, and fun events.

Be sure to try some of the country’s best dishes, such as salt fish, ackee, festivals , jerk food, and bammy.

In terms of entertainment and nights out, you’ll want to head down to Margaritaville, a popular spot built above the sea, featuring a great bar and restaurant. Pier1 is another great spot, featuring a great open restaurant that serves up classic Jamaican cuisine, alongside live music and dancing.

Beaches in Jamaica are also well worth visiting, and you can discover beaches with both black and white sands. Seven Mile Beach is one of the country’s most famous and boasts a long stretch of white sand and beautiful water, simply perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Doctor’s Cave Beach and Frenchman’s Cove are two other popular beaches on the island.

The Best Caribbean Islands to Visit in 2024

By Brian Major

British Virgin Islands

I’ve been fortunate to travel widely across the Caribbean over the last 30 years. I’m also a descendant of Caribbean people, so many folks assume I’ve visited every island. Not likely—the Caribbean consists of 28 islands encompassing just over one million square miles. So while I’ve visited most, there are still a handful I’ve yet to encounter. But that’s a good thing. Many know the Caribbean of picture-perfect views —all lush green hillsides, soft beaches, sunny skies, sun loungers, and poolside cocktails. But that’s really just the white-sandy surface of this region, where each island has something distinct to offer. On Dominica , hiking is unmatched, notably its Boiling Lake, a flooded fumarole located in Morne Trois Pitons National Park, where you can traverse across the rim of an active volcano. The best island hopping is in the British Virgin Islands , while Barbados is the action island, where the historic Garrison horse racing takes place year-round.

If you’re looking to soak up some winter sun by a pool lounger and nothing more, then any island in the Caribbean will do—the hotels in St Barth's are amongst some of the best in the world. But if you’re willing to dig a little deeper and venture beyond the resort gates, these are the best islands in the Caribbean.

Which is the best Caribbean island for families?

When little travelers are involved, the ease of a resort jam-packed with activities can take the strain off parents and let everyone enjoy the trip. For this reason, Barbados is the ideal Caribbean island for families, and there’s everything from larger, more affordable resorts to smaller boutique offerings. For intergenerational holidays and trips with slightly older children, consider hiring out a villa— Oliver’s Travels allows customers to filter results by ‘great for kids.’

Barbados

Best island for: action

Barbados might just be one of the best all-rounder islands in the Caribbean. Some of the top hotels in the region are found here, as are some of the best beaches, all accessible to the public—there are no private beaches in Barbados. Poolside beverages are spiked with rum, distilled on the island and best learnt about at St. Nicholas Abbey, a plantation house, museum, and rum distillery. Those looking for more diverse action can find it at the heritage railway, the racing car circuit, and the Garrison Savannah, a popular horse race that takes place throughout the year. And then there are the surrounding reefs, where you can swim with turtles, snorkel with seahorses, and spy whales in winter months.

Where to stay: Sandy Lane Hotel is one of the most glamorous hotels on the island complete with a British or American country club vibe—there are three golf courses on the hotel grounds. For something more low-key, Little Good Harbour ’s rooms feel more like private cottages and its fuss-free restaurant, The Fish Post, is beloved as one of the best in Barbados. For more ideas, consult our list of the best all-inclusive resorts on the island .

Saint Lucia

Best island for: romance

The Caribbean is synonymous with honeymoons but it's St Lucia that tops them all when it comes to serving up romance. You can thank the island’s mountainous landscape for that—it’s all about a room with a view of the 2,000-foot high Piton mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the island’s calling card.

There’s adventure to be found too, like exhilarating zip lines high above the island’s rainforest canopy or mud baths in Sulphur Springs, a geothermically active basin of hot springs and fumaroles within the the dormant Qualibou volcano in Soufrière.

Where to stay: Coconut Bay is the biggest crowd pleaser on the island—all inclusive and catering to couples, families, and even wedding parties. For something more private, Ladera is an eco-lodge where rustic suites have private plunge pools. See our edit of the best resorts in St Lucia for more.

Anguilla

Best island for: beaches

In a region characterized by beautiful beaches , Anguilla has the best in the region. Partly for their mesmerizing ribbon of blue water but also because their powdery white sands invariably host only a handful of other beach-goers. There are 33 beaches in total, and while each one I’ve encountered has been memorable, the standouts to see include Cove Bay, Maundays Bay, Rendezvous Bay, and Shoal Bay.

Anguilla is also a worthy choice for its culinary scene. Refreshingly there are no chain restaurants on the island. Instead, restaurants and eateries tend to be small family-run businesses. If you visit just one, make it Tasty’s, which serves up a stellar coconut-crusted fish and marinated conch salad by Anguillan chef Dale Carty.

Where to stay: The Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club is the newest shiny address on the island, with seven restaurants and bars and a fleet of private jets transporting guests to and from the property. Find more editor-vetted Anguilla hotels here .

British Virgin Islands

British Virgin Islands

Best island for: island hopping

The British Virgin Islands (BVI) territory has few chain restaurants and no large hotels or mass tourism attractions. Instead, you’ll encounter turquoise waters, lush green hillsides, and distinctive cuisine and culture across the four main islands: Anegada, Jost Van Dyke, Tortola, and Virgin Gorda.

Hopping from island to island—whether via public ferry or private catamaran—is the characteristic way to explore the BVI. On my last visit I sailed to Jost Van Dyke’s White Bay, home to casual beachfront eateries serving dangerously delicious rum cocktails and locally caught fish. Another fantastic spot is Willy T’s Floating Bar and Restaurant near Norman Island. Moored offshore, the cargo ship has been converted into an ultra-relaxed eatery.

Where to stay: Located on a broad, secluded calm-water bay on Virgin Gorda, Rosewood Little Dix Bay has 80 villas and suites each staffed with a personal butler. The Reef House is one of three restaurants and features farm-to-fork dining with fresh provisions sourced locally.

Dominica

Best island for: diving

The calm waters surrounding Dominica make it one of the best diving spots in the world. The rainbow-colored seascape is best viewed at Champagne Reef, named for its bubbling waters generated by volcanic thermal springs rising from on the ocean floor. The reef also comprises plummeting cliffs, towering volcanic formations and the remains of a 17th-century Spanish shipwreck.

Another highlight is L'Abym, a dive site located on the island’s southern tip and suited to all skill levels due to Soufriere Bay’s gentle current. Underwater wonders are visible from 20 feet below the surface right down to a 1,500-foot maximum depth. An underwater wall extending its entire length gives the site its name.

Where to stay: Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski is the smartest place to stay on the island. All of the classic hallmarks are here—a full service spa, four swimming pools—but it’s the lush grounds, which incorporate Cabrits National Park, that make this spot memorable.

Grenada

Best island for: natural beauty

Grenada’s 133 archipelagic square miles are laced with waterfalls, hot springs and tropical rainforests across three main islands: Grenada, Petit Martinique, and Carriacou. Ringed by 45 white- and nine black-sand beaches, the hilly isles are dotted with acres of fruit and spice trees.

One-ninth of Grenada’s land mass is dedicated to national parks and wildlife sanctuaries, best seen on a guided hike of Grand Etang Forest Reserve. Sister Island Carriacou is a worthy day trip too, especially for the top-shelf diving and snorkeling.

Where to stay: Few places capture Grenada's understated magic like the Silversands Grenada resort , found at the sleepy end of the two-mile Grand Anse Beach. The biggest draw here is the 330-foot infinity pool, said to be the longest in the Caribbean, which stretches from the hotel’s entrance all the way to the sea.

Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico

Best island for: history and culture

There’s a distinct energy to Puerto Rico , one that draws upon a fascinating blend of Hispanic, African, American, and Caribbean culture and history. To see it start in colonial San Juan , the second oldest European-founded city in the Americas. Head to the old town where cobblestone streets are lined with colorful Spanish buildings housing trendy bars, boutique shopping and all-night entertainment.

Hundreds of thousands of Africans arrived in Puerto Rico via forced migration in the colonial era. Their contributions to the island’s culture, art, music and cuisine live on today in Loiza, home to Puerto Rico’s largest Black population. You can witness it via the artwork on display at Samuel Lind Studio, or at the Don Rafael Cepeda School of Bomba and Plena which puts on traditional music and dance workshops.

Where to stay: Caribe Hilton is within walking distance of historic Old San Juan and the Condado entertainment district. Designed in tropical modernist style by legendary Puerto Rican firm Toro Ferrer, the grounds incorporate 17 acres of tropical landscaping as well as nine restaurants and an oceanfront pool complex. See our edit of the best hotels in Puerto Rico for more.

St. Kitts and Nevis

St. Kitts and Nevis

Best island for: visiting two islands in one trip

Lush natural beauty and historic attractions are the hallmarks of this twin-island nation. Most travelers visit both islands, as smaller Nevis is a breezy 20-minute ferry ride from larger St. Kitts. Sightseeing on St. Kitts is best done via the scenic train—the only working railway in the Caribbean—which circumnavigates the island on routes that once transported plantation sugar cane. Another highlight is the Brimstone Hill fortress, built of hand-chiseled stones by enslaved Kittitians and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stand among the fort’s ramparts and cannon while taking in panoramic views of neighboring Saba, Statia, St. Maarten, and St. Barths .

Tiny Nevis’ resplendent landscape is overlooked by 3,232-foot high Nevis Peak, located at its center and visible from virtually every point on the island. Mountainside hiking and ATV tours uncover haunting ruins of colonial-era plantations and sugar mills.

Where to stay: Hide away in one of the traditional West Indian–inspired cottages at Belle Mont Farm . As the name suggests, dining here is farm-to-table, serving up freshly foraged organic fruit and vegetables plus seafood plucked straight out of the ocean.

Travel Tips

Best Greek Islands for young adults

By Charlie Fabre

Writer and editor for Contiki, Charlie is French-American, obsessed with travel, art, food, and reading in the New Hampshire forests.

Published on Apr 10, 2024

If the travel industry worked in the same way the music industry does, the Greek Islands would always be at the top of the charts. An undefeated champion of summer vacations, Greece is one of the dreamiest travel destinations and one of the popular ones – and for very good reasons.

It has a little something for everyone whether you like history and culture or good food and partying ‘til the sun goes down. But which are the best Greek Islands for young adults? For those visiting the Aegean coast for the first time and are hunting for pure good vibes? We’re sort of Greek Island hopping experts if we do say so ourselves, so you’ve come to the right place as we have ALL the answers for you! And if you need a more in-depth Island Hopping guide , we’ve also got you covered.

Feeling inspired?

Greek Island Hopping

What are the most popular greek islands.

Greece has 6,000 islands (wow!), and of those 227 are inhabited, which makes picking the best island to visit a difficult task. But some definitely get more love than others simply because they’re better known. With Contiki, you’ll get to travel to four stunning locations: Santorini, Mykonos, Paros, and Ios (more on those soon).

The most popular and best Greek Islands for young adults are probably Mykonos and Ios because they’re well known for their vibrant party scenes and pristine beach clubs, making them two of the most fun islands to visit! But let’s not forget the jaw-dropping beauty of Corfu, Santorini, Naxos, and so many more. Ultimately, our advice is no matter where you end up in the Greek Islands, make sure you visit the neighbouring islands as well for a true taste of the Aegean Sea! So why not travel with Contiki then extend your trip to do more?

What is there to do in the Greek Islands?

The better question is what isn’t there to do? Boat trips out into seas that look like they’ve been cut directly from sapphires. Lounging on the deck, soaking up the sun, diving under the surface. Day trips around the islands to different beaches and white and blue towns, getting a taste of the BEST olives ever and gorging yourself on Greek salad and Tzatziki of course.

What else? Oh yeah! Visiting archaeological sites, some depicting important monuments of Greek mythology. Try local bakes and make your very own crafts, discover idyllic fishing towns that dot the shores. And, of course, gawking at the honey-coloured sunsets and dancing with your friends until your feet fall off.

This makes the Greek Islands an ideal destination for young adults, and you can do all of the above (and so much more) with Contiki!

10 best places to visit in Greece

Which greek island has the best nightlife.

We can’t possibly discuss partying on the Greek Islands without mentioning Mykonos. Nightlife is what Mykonos is known for, and thousands of tourists a year flock to it to experience just that. Poolside lounges and cocktail bars, sparkly clubs, and beaches dedicated to the party space – you can’t go wrong here. In fact, our Greek Island Hopping trip will score you a 2-night stay at Paradise Beach so you can party all day long!

Other strong nightlife contenders include Corfu and Zante (also known as Zakynthos). Zante is the perfect place for spring breakers to sway to the rhythm of the music at one of many pool parties, and travellers can also dance off into the sunset aboard the famous VVIP Yacht. Corfu is just as iconic with so many bars, restaurants, and clubs to choose from, and just as many beaches decorated with fairy-lights waiting for you to hit the dance floor.

There’s always something on, making these 3 some of the best Greek Islands for young adults!

Which Greek island is best for people in their late 20s?

There’s no age limit on travel and fun! But that being said, now that you’re a real adult, maybe hanging out with a bunch of fresh school and university graduates isn’t your crowd. We get that, and rest assured there are plenty of Greek Islands for young adults wanting to take things slow during the day (and still let loose in the night!).

Andros, the second largest Cycladic Island, is one of the quieter locations and is perfect for those who want to enjoy their time in the sun in peace. Blessed with lots of greenery and beautiful hiking trails, this island has a lot to offer (and typically sees fewer tourists).

The Sporades islands are also ideal! They’re a large group in the Aegean Sea and most of them are uninhabited. With white rock faces, aquamarine seas, and verdant trees these islands make for an absolutely STUNNING getaway. Not to mention that these islands are home to dolphins and seals – OMG!

I know we listed Corfu as part of the party islands above, but it’s not just that. Corfu is part of the Ionian islands, sitting in a different sea than the rest, and interestingly Corfu has an old town with Renaissance, baroque, and classical architecture! It’s also home to many 15th and 16th century structures, like the Old Fortress, and it also has many art museums including the Museum of Asian Art! So, if you get sick of partying, you’ve got plenty of culture to discover.

Greek Island Hopping 101: short beginner’s guide

Are greek islands only for partying.

Though we’ve talked a lot about nightlife, it’s safe to say that the Greek Islands are not exclusively a party destination, and if you’re not about that life then no worries!

Greece is a country filled with vast and deep history, and whether you want to retrace Plato and Aristotle’s footsteps, cultivate some knowledge about ancient mythologies, or just generally absorb the country’s history and culture, the islands can give you that! Perhaps the island most steeped in history is Rhodes, closely followed by Crete and Corfu.

Once home to the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, Rhodes has many historical ruins to visit, and the Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, marking it as a very special location indeed.

If you’re after adventure, then the islands are perfect as well! I mean, you’re surrounded by the ocean, so bring on the watersports! Snorkelling, diving, water skiing, etc. you can get your fill of adrenaline and wonder here. The islands are also quite hilly, so there are plenty of hikes on offer, and for a really cool day out, why not hike up to the top of Santorini’s dormant volcano?

And if you simply want to relax, well, all the islands are good for that seeing as they’re each a paradise in their own right.

Which Greek Island is the cheapest?

Let’s face it, none of us are raking in the cash (if you are, spare me some?), but that’s okay because the REAL currency is the friends we make along the way and the amazing experiences we get to remember forever! Still, a girl’s gotta eat…

Some of the cheaper Greek Island options include Naxos, Kos, Rhodes, and Zante (surprisingly), if you know where to look, and plenty others can be made easily affordable if you do your research beforehand, such as: Crete, Ios, and Santorini.

When travelling through the Greek Islands, the bulk of your costs are going to come from the frequent travel and the change from hotel to hotel which means you may miss out on certain accommodation deals. But… If you travel with Contiki, we’ll take you around the glittering seas and take care of all those nasty fees for you!

Greek food guide: Everything you need to taste on your next trip

How can i travel to the greek islands.

By boat! Kind of a no-brainer, but your main mode of transport during your Greek Island hopping adventure will be aboard many ferries slashing through the sea from one island to the next. In terms of getting to Greece, you can fly into Athens from most major cities around the globe, and that’s where your Contiki trip will start and end! So we’ll meet you there.

The Best Caribbean Islands for Teens and Adventurous Families

With towering palm trees silhouetted against idyllic white-sand beaches, the Caribbean really is a magical destination. But there’s so much more to this island chain than picture-perfect beaches or crystal-clear waters.

Lush jungles and striking volcanoes make the Caribbean the perfect destination for families seeking adventure. Hidden waterfalls await you after a hike through the pristine wilderness and rusting shipwrecks lie beneath the surface of shallow waters.

With more than 700 islands to choose from it can be hard to know where to begin when it comes to planning your trip. In this article, I have outlined some of the best Caribbean islands for teens and adventurous families! (Also see my article on the best vacations for teens .)

Anyone who has traveled with teenagers knows that a mix of adventurous and cool activities paired with leisure downtime in a photogenic setting is the recipe for a happy family vacation. If you are interested in going beyond the all-inclusive resort, here are the Caribbean islands that have so much more to offer families with teens.

Grenada nutmeg

Nicknamed the ‘Spice Island’ Grenada is a lush tropical island at the southern end of the Antilles archipelago. This relatively small island is carpeted with vibrant jungles, many of which are protected national parks.

The fertile soils of Grenada are perfect for growing a multitude of spices including nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, allspice, bay leaves, and turmeric — giving the island its nickname. With a rugged interior, Grenada is the perfect island for adventure.

Adventurous Things to Do in Grenada

One of the absolute highlights of my time spent in the Caribbean has been swimming in waterfalls in Grenada . Grenada is home to a plethora of waterfalls and two of the most striking can be seen when walking the Seven Sisters Waterfall Trail. The trail is within Grand Etang National Park, which is an impressive 1,000 hectares in size.

On the hike, families with teens will journey through tropical forests and admire gorgeous views of nearby mountains. The hike isn’t too strenuous and is only 2.1 km in length, making it ideal for all ages. At the end of the trail are two magnificent waterfalls cascading into pools. You can enjoy a swim in the pool below the larger waterfall which is both refreshing and exhilarating.

Another activity that will get both your and your teens’ blood pumping is tubing down Grenada’s Balthazar River with sections of rapids. Spin and twirl down the river, marveling at the river’s untethered power. The river flows through dense swathes of the jungle so don’t forget to admire your surroundings!

A more relaxing (but equally fun) way to take to the water is via a kayak adventure through the mangroves of Woburn Bay. This picturesque bay is home to the island’s largest mangrove forests which are one of the most important ecosystems on the planet, scrubbing carbon dioxide from the air while also providing a safe haven for juvenile fish.

Another of my favorite activities in Grenada is to go on a tour to learn more about how Grenada’s famous spices are produced as well as sampling some fresh produce including Grenadian bananas.

Where to Stay in Grenada

Set on an intimate bay, Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel is the best-rated hotel on the island. The hotel comprises 30 luxury suites that boast panoramic views of the ocean. This is the perfect place to unwind after a long day of adventure.

A slightly less expensive option that still oozes luxury is Mount Cinnamon Resort & Beach Club . You can choose from a range of suites or luxury villas, all with gorgeous ocean views. The villas are surrounded by tropical gardens and look out onto a pristine expanse of sand.

Dominica Banana Lama Eco villas

Not to be confused with the Dominican Republic , Dominica is a hidden gem in the Caribbean, often overlooked by travelers. It’s known as the ‘Nature Island’ and is arguably one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. The island is dressed in thick forests which are home to rare plants, animals, and birds.

Dominica is the youngest island in the Lesser Antilles island chain and is in fact still being formed by ongoing geothermal-volcanic activity. The island is being formed by nine active volcanoes, by far the most of any island in the Caribbean.

Adventurous Things to Do in Dominica

One of the most adventurous activities that you and your family can complete in Dominica is a hike to Boiling Lake. This excursion is not one for the faint-hearted as it lasts all day. The hike takes place within the spectacular Morne Trois Pitons National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and will take you to the Valley of Desolation where the lake is positioned.

The Boiling Lake is evidence of the island’s geothermal activity; it’s a flooded fumarole from one of the island’s volcanoes. Watching the greyish-blue water bubble behind an eerie mist is a unique and mystical experience.

Those still wanting a taste for adventure but without marching through winding jungle paths all day may prefer to explore one of Dominica’s many awe-inspiring black-sand beaches such as Calibishie Cove . Backed by forests of sleepy palm trees, those taking a stroll on this beach could be forgiven for thinking they are on a deserted island. A river cuts through the black sand beach adding to the surreal ambiance.

Other spectacular beaches on Dominica which are well worth a visit include Batibou Beach and Number One Beach, both on Dominica’s north coast.

Pirates of the Caribbean fans will love taking a boat ride down the spell-binding Indian River, which made an appearance in both the first and second films. This is where the wooden jungle hideaway of Tia Dalma (Calypso) is nestled. The river is lined with mangrove forests and is a haven for a variety of bird species.

Where to Stay in Dominica

Without a doubt, the most magical place to stay in Dominica is Secret Bay on the northwest coast of the island, a short distance from a number of Dominica’s key beaches and attractions. Secret Bay is an award-winning boutique resort nestled in lush hills overlooking its own private beach. The hotel consists of just six eco-friendly villas. The reefs just off the beach are ideal for snorkeling and are alive with a plethora of marine life.

For those who want to get as much adventure as possible from their time in Dominica then Banana Lama Eco-Villas is a great option. Surrounded by succulent jungles, this boutique collection of hand-crafted cottages can only be accessed via a zipline. The cottages are perched upon a river which has a natural pool in it that is ideal for cold-water swimming. Also hidden within the resort’s vast grounds is a spectacular waterfall which you can hike to.

Barbados beach and sailboat

Barbados is one of the most popular islands in the Caribbean and is famous for its vast stretch of golden-sand beaches which line the west coast of the island. But this island is so much more than just a beach destination!

The ocean is teaming with marine life and is a fantastic place to snorkel atop vibrant reefs as well as swim alongside majestic turtles. In the interior of the island is a swathe of untouched countryside which is perfect for exploring on horseback.

The waters which surround Barbados are the resting place for a vast number of shipwrecks. Carlisle Bay on the south coast of the island houses six impressive shipwrecks. Families can visit the wrecks on a boat trip and snorkel above the rusting metal ships whilst also keeping an eye out for marine life. Turtles are often spotted in these waters and the wrecks themselves have become artificial reefs, now the homes of a range of colorful fish.

A trip to Barbados wouldn’t be complete without taking the family to Bathsheba beach on the wild east coast of the island. This beach is raw and untouched, the rough Atlantic ocean crashing against striking rock formations which are jutting from the golden-sand beach. Natural rock pools can be found along this beach and are great to dip your toes into as well as search for interesting sea creatures.

If your family is keen to explore in-land Barbados then why not go on a hack through the forests on horseback? Treks with Ocean Echo Stables take you through secluded pockets of wilderness where you will hear nothing but the singing of birds and the rhythmic sound of hooves against the earth. You will end up on a quiet beach on the east coast of the island where you can feel the sea breeze through your hair and can admire the stunning scenery.

Where to Stay in Barbados

For a peak luxury experience in Barbados, Sandy Lane is the number one choice. This exclusive hotel is perfectly positioned on one of the most picture-perfect beaches on Barbados. The hotel is made up of 113 luxury rooms and a five-bedroom villa. Guests can dine at the hotel’s four restaurants and seven bars, eating fresh seafood with unrivaled views of the ocean.

A more unassuming but still luxurious hotel is Beach View Barbados . This family-friendly hotel is set within five acres of beautifully-manicured gardens and is just across the road from the ocean. This delightful hotel is just a short walk away from one of Barbados’ most exclusive and fine-dining restaurants: The Cliff.

St Vincent and The Grenadines

St Vincent black sand beach

A chain of volcanic islands and uninhabited sandbanks to the south of the Caribbean, St Vincent is home to countless secluded beaches and some of the Caribbean’s best snorkeling spots.

St Vincent and the Grenadines is comprised of the main island of St Vincent as well as 32 far smaller islands, many of which are uninhabited. St Vincent is a lush volcanic island that houses an active volcano called La Soufrière which erupted in 2021.

Adventurous Things to Do in St Vincent and The Grenadines

Without a doubt, one of my favorite things to do in St Vincent and The Grenadines and one of my most memorable experiences in the entire Caribbean is to go sailing on a catamaran around the smaller islands in The Grenadines. There are so many quaint islands for you to explore that look as though they have never been set foot on.

Tobago Cays is one of the most beautiful islands in The Grenadines and houses a very active reef. Snorkelers are frequently gifted with sightings of green sea turtles which can be seen in large numbers just below the water’s surface.

St Vincent’s mainland also has so much to offer for families seeking adventure. The island has a wild coastline dotted with spectacular rock features such as caves and rock arches as well as secret beaches. One of the best ways to explore the coastline is via a boat tour. Tours typically take you to a secluded beach where you can walk on a black-sand beach and snorkel over one of the island’s many reefs.

Shrouded by the dense rainforests on St Vincent is Dark View Falls, a set of two spectacular waterfalls which are just a short hike through the jungle. Visitors can enjoy a welcome dip in the spacious pools at the base of the falls.

Just a short drive from Kingstown, St Vincent’s capital is the Vermont nature trail and rainforest. The trail is roughly 3.5 km long and provides visitors with sweeping vistas of valleys coated in dense forests. Keep an eye out for the rare St Vincent parrot and listen for their unmistakable calls as you weave through endemic species of plant.

Where to Stay in St Vincent and The Grenadines

Young Island Resort is an idyllic hideaway just off St Vincent on its own private islet. Set amongst 13 acres of tropical gardens are 29 charming private cottages. The island boasts gorgeous beaches and is great for a spot of snorkeling.

Situated on the island of Bequia in The Grenadines is Bequia Beach Hotel , a family-run luxury boutique hotel set upon a picturesque swathe of white sand. The hotel is situated within 10 acres of perfectly-manicured gardens and the cottages and villas enjoy marvelous views of the bay.

Those are my top recommendations if you are looking for adventure in the Caribbean!

Best Greek Islands

Which Greek Islands to Visit While You’re Young? (Hint: All of Them)

Bucket lists everywhere are calling the Greek islands the standout travel destination of the year, for the umpteenth year in a row. But choosing which Greek island to visit ain’t easy, so we tapped a few of our expert Greece Trip Consultants at EF Ultimate Break for their reccos. Below, a list of the six best Greek islands for young adults.

May 27, 2020 Updated January 19, 2024

"The Greek Islands” text over a harbor with boats and colorful buildings on a sunny day.

Aahh, the Greek islands

Doesn’t the name just sound perfect? Three simple words and you’re already imagining drinks on the beach, Insta-worthy sunsets, and all-night parties. Now I know you just got here, but we’re kicking things off with a quick pop quiz. Just how many Greek islands are there? Take a guess. Got it? If you picked any number between 0 and 5,999, you’d be wrong. That’s right, there are 6,000 islands that belong to Greece. Sure, only 227 of them are inhabited, but still. Wowza.

With 227 inhabited islands to choose from, the question of which Greek islands to visit is a popular one. The quick answer? As many as you possibly can. The real answer, according to some of the expert-iest EF Ultimate Break travel experts, is a bit more specific. With their help, we're narrowing the list from 227 down to six of the best Greek islands to visit, especially for young, first-time island-hoppers. When you're ready to turn your daydreams into travel reality, EF Ultimate Break has a perfect Greece trip for you.

Santorini Greek Islands

1. Santorini

Nothing—and I mean nothing—beats a Santorini sunset. One time I had a crepe in Paris that almost beat a Santorini sunset, but I snapped out of that one pretty quickly. For the best views and a perfect glass of wine, you need to visit the village of Oia. Look familiar? Yeah, that’s because every Santorini photo ever was taken from this spot. And for good reason. It’s sheer, cliffside perfection.

Lexie, who’s part of the team that researches and designs EF Ultimate Break itineraries, believes that “Santorini is one of the top islands in the world to visit for a reason. Its blue domes, white buildings, and black lava cliffs fulfill every Mamma Mia! vision you've ever had.”

If you’re a sucker for beauty and romance, Santorini is for you.

Mykonos Greek Islands

They say the early bird catches the worm. Well in Mykonos, the early bird is only up early because this party bird danced its face off all night at beachside clubs. And now that the sun is up, it’s time for the Mykonos early bird to get some sleep.

Bird idioms aside, Mykonos is hands down the best Greek island to visit if you’re looking for nightlife. But don’t even think for a second that the party stops when the sun shines. Mykonos turns up, day and night. There are plenty of bars and clubs to choose from, but none more famous than Paradise Beach Club . Our Greece Trip Consultant Laura even had a wild time in the middle of the day. “There’s go-go dancers on the bar at all times,” she says. “Like even at 1pm.”

Not a party animal? Don’t sweat it—Mykonos has a quieter, more charming side as well. Just start walking, and you’re sure to find quaint cobblestone streets, warm and friendly locals, and mouthwatering food to sink your teeth into.

Featured Trip: Ultimate Greek Islands

17 days. 7 cities. Paradise served with extra pita.

Pros: a Zeus-sized serving of 5 distinct (but equally dreamy) islands, a side order of ancient Athens, and all of the late-night gyros.

Cons: there is a strict “one Santorini sunset pic per traveler” rule. Nah just kidding, take as many as you want!

Are you the quiet, laid-back one in your friend group who somehow becomes the life of the party when you go out, and your friends are all like, whaaaaat? Well then Ios might be for you. It’s all about that chill life during the day, but once the sun sets, Ios really shows up. Some liken it to Mykonos, but with less glitz and flashiness.

EF Ultimate Break Trip Consultant (and resident Greece expert) Hannah puts it best: “Ios is the epitome of a 'vacation island'. A place where you bask in the sun, cruise on boats, and dance through the night…of the six Greek islands I have been able to visit, this one had the clearest water and most interesting coast line I have ever seen.” Thanks, Hannah—I’m convinced.

Paros Greek Islands

If it’s beaches you want, well, why didn’t you say so? I would have told you Paros is the best Greek island for beaches. Then you would have thanked me and been on your way. But here we are.

Now I’m not saying Paros is only good for its beaches. We wouldn’t mislead you like that. TBH Paros kind of has it all. In addition to picture-perfect coastlines, this island boasts classic white-washed buildings, countless boutique shops to explore, and—when you need an adrenaline boost—watersports.

Featured Trip: Italy & The Greek Islands

15 days. 5 cities.

Pros: See Michelangelo’s David up close and personal in Florence, pretend you're a Gladiator in the Roman Colosseum, and travel back in time to where Western Civilization began on the Acropolis of Athens. Then it's time to unwind on a white sand beach, drink in hand, on two of Greece’s most iconic islands.

Cons: You'll have to put your keto diet on hold. Say it with us: Homemade. Italian. Pasta.

best islands to visit for young adults

Welcome to the section of the article I like to call: Revealing which island is the biggest of all the Greek islands. It’s Crete. And it’s the perfect island to take a load off, stay a while, and get out there and YOLO the day—there’s certainly a lot to see. The two major cities are Chania and Heraklion, named after Hercules (heard of him?). They’re both well worth a visit.

Our Greece Trip Consultant Hannah hits the nail on the head again: “Unlike the white-washed buildings of Santorini or Paros, Crete’s buildings are gatherings of pastel colors along a turquoise blue ocean. The Island has a 'travel' instead of 'tourist' vibe. It’s a lot less crowded and it’s easy to meet young people from Athens who are working there over the summer.”

And good news! If you’re looking for a Minoan settlement that makes ancient Athens look like a newborn baby, spend an afternoon at Knossos . Some historians consider it to be Europe’s oldest city. We’re talking 9,000 years old!

Zakynthos Greek Islands

6. Zakynthos

We are now moving into the Ionian Sea, to the west of mainland Greece. There are fewer islands here compared to the more popular Aegean Sea, but we would be remiss not to include our favorite. Zakynthos, like Paros, is a beach lover’s paradise. Except Zakynthos has one thing Paros does not: a 40-year-old abandoned ship perched on the beach of the most photogenic cove you’ve ever seen, aptly named Shipwreck Beach. Some believe the Greek government put the ship here to attract more tourists. If this is true, I would bet that while they were doing it, they were singing everybody’s favorite, “My shipwreck brings all the boys to the yard.” But in Greek, of course.

That’s it! You’ve reached the end of our list of the top Greek islands to visit when you’re young. Now, it should be noted that “young” is a relative term, and any of these islands would be thrilled to have you visit, no matter your age (yes, even you, babies that know how to read blogs). But if you are 18 to 35, and feel compelled to visit any or all of the islands you just read about, check out EF Ultimate Break's trips to the Greek islands . We want your adventures to be stress-free, which is why we plan everything and include things like daily breakfast, local tours, and flights (unless you wanna book your own) . All you have to do is travel.

The best Spanish islands, from Mallorca to La Palma

By Sarah James

The best Spanish islands Our pick mustvisits

The Spanish islands set the blueprint for European beach holidays decades ago. There are more than 60 cast off the coast of the mainland, and while many of the big hitters – Ibiza , Mallorca , Lanzarote – have well-worn reputations, they are constantly reinventing themselves. In recent years, many have gained prominence for sustainability , stargazing and smart stays. These are our 10 favourite Spanish isles – plus our top recommendations for where to bed down once you arrive.

This island is a lot of different things at once. Some head here for the mega clubs, DJ sets and all-night parties; others for the beautiful beaches (and beach bars ). There are people who visit for the food scene and those who tap into the surprisingly go-slow pace of life in the hamlets. There is a peaceful side to Ibiza if you know where to look – in the sleepy north, one-time ravers now have a preference for ‘dirt over discotecas’, says contributing editor Paul Richardson on the farm-to-table food scene. Meanwhile, boho villages in the interior such as Santa Gertrudis have a more international feel.

Where to stay : Self-described agriturismo Can Sastre near Santa Gertrudis is covered in bougainvillaea, with five bedrooms and a poolside honesty bar.

This is the classic holiday spot. When people set off in search of a slice of sun-soaked island life, this is what they are picturing – miles and miles of immaculate beaches and soaring mountains dotted with quiet hamlets and villages. In the past decade, the capital Palma has become one of the Mediterranean's most interesting cities. A handful of restaurants have been awarded Michelin stars – we recommend Dins Santi Taura for an intimate chef's-table experience – and there are a couple of slick hotels to check into, such as Can Bordoy Grand House , a discreet stay with a brilliant rooftop sundeck. Plus, you don't have to look far for lively beach clubs (book Purobeach for a splashy afternoon or Assaona for a more boho vibe). Away from Palma, conservation and restoration are Mallorca’s driving force, with a tangible shift towards sustainable tourism via zero-waste restaurants, natural winemakers and eco-thinking hoteliers.

Where to stay : Can Ferrereta is the island’s finest country hotel.

The easygoing isle. Many crown it with the title of the Balearic with the best beaches: the water here is bluer, the sand whiter and the bays less crowded than those of its louder sisters. Pitch up at Cala Macarella, which we named one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe , for an ice-cold beer on unspoilt sand, or scroll through our edit of the best beaches in Mallorca to chart a bay-hopping road trip along the 135-mile coastline. The main cities of Ciutadella and Mahón are as low-key as the hinterland, but there are still buzzy restaurants and bars to be found here. Cova d’en Xoroi is the showstopper, teetering precariously over the impossibly azure Mediterranean near Cala en Porter, but there are also vintage-inspired dining rooms such as winemaking Binifadet in Sant Lluis and clever tapas joints (book Café Balear on Ciutadella’s harbour).

Where to stay : In Ciutadella, check into 16th-century merchant’s palace Can Faustino .

Long known as Ibiza’s quieter little sister, Formentera has carved a space for itself in the big-hitting Balearics as the chilled-out island. It’s the smallest at 12 miles long and just a 25-minute ferry ride from Ibiza. Once you reach these shores, though, you realise it isn’t simply a miniature copy of the White Isle. Visitors here opt for small harbours over enormous hangouts and quiet beaches with little to no infrastructure over scenic stretches of sand. There are still beach clubs, such as blissed-out 10.7 near pretty Playa Migjorn, where you’ll find the best sushi on the island. But on Formentera, it comes with a laidback soundtrack.

Where to stay : Former farmhouse Etosoto has been revamped by its Parisian owners into a pretty, whitewashed villa with nine bedrooms and two houses by the sea.

Lanzarote has had a less than flattering reputation for a while now, being better known for soulless resorts and package holidays. But those who don’t look past this outdated image are missing out on the most surprising of the Canary Islands. There’s a thriving surf scene here – serious surfers make tracks for La Santa, while fair-weather boarders prefer popular Famara on the north coast. Architect César Manrique was responsible for some of the island’s most curious buildings – white-washed structures that embrace the volcanic landscape. Yet another unexpected string in Lanzarote’s bow are the vintners making unusual wines – visit La Geria winery, the prettiest of them all.

Where to stay : Hire one of the best villas in Lanzarote such as stark La Cabaña or a fisherman’s cottage turned Airbnb in Playa Quemada.

The smallest and least-visited of the Canaries, this speck of land in the Atlantic, just off the coast of Africa , is the world’s first self-sufficient island due to its eco-friendly energy sources and sustainable food efforts. There are no big hotel chains, and true beach bums might avoid the place altogether – most of the coastline is volcanic rather than sandy. The lack of brilliant beaches means El Hierro is relatively untouched, its winding roads scoring through little villages carved out of black stone, with bars and bakeries and restaurants and weekly markets.

Where to stay : Hotel Puntagrande, on a rocky outcrop, has one of the best settings in El Hierro.

This is the green Canary – a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, touted as a learning place for sustainable development, since 1983. Similarly to the other Canaries, the southern landscape is flecked with volcanic mountains and a jagged coastline, but thick rainforest covers the north. The capital of Santa Cruz de la Palma is stacked with white-washed, historic buildings. While the beaches might not meet the lofty expectations you might have of other destinations on this list, there are curious spots such as Charco Azul, formed from natural rock, to turn heads on the coast. And the island is one of the best places in Europe for proper stargazing – head to La Palma’s Roque de los Muchachos astrophysical observatory for the full experience.

Where to stay : Book into 18th-century lighthouse Faro Punta Cumplida.

Cíes Islands, Galicia

In Spain’s north-western corner, the Cíes islands form a tiny archipelago just 45 minutes from the mainland. This trio is part of the Atlantic Islands national park, which means they are protected from overdevelopment. There are no cars and visitor numbers are limited to 3,000 in the peak summer months. It’s here that you’ll find some of the prettiest beaches in the region – in all of Spain, in fact – such as Praia de Rodas, 2,000ft of sand that slopes down to the bluest sea. Order the catch of the day at any of the restaurants with ocean views .

Where to stay : There are no hotels here, so go back to basics at the islands’ campsite.

Holiday honeypot Tenerife isn't a secret. But drive away from the built-up south in search of adventures off the beaten path and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. There’s Teide, the snow-covered mountain which is Spain’s highest, surrounded by the lunar landscape of a UNESCO-protected national park. Much like neighbouring La Palma, this is one of the most astonishing places to give stargazing a try. Drive out to villages such as pretty Garachico and vibrant La Laguna. Or come in February for the Carnival of Santa Cruz, the world’s second-largest carnival after Rio de Janeiro .

Ons Islands, Galicia

Also part of the Atlantic Islands national park off the north-west coast of Spain Illa de Ons, the main isle in this archipelago is (like the Cíes islands) car free and just three-and-a-half miles long. Visitor numbers are limited – 1,800 people can land daily to discover the unspoilt beaches and jaw-dropping cliffs. The island is a Special Protection Area for birds and life in the tiny villages revolves around fishing. Several islets surround the main outcrops, and the sea teems with marine life. Head to O Curro, the biggest settlement, for dishes of octopus and scallops at one of the tiny local restaurants.

Where to stay : There are no hotels on Ons. Back on the mainland, we recommend Novavila , a locally owned stay that fuses traditional architecture and serious design smarts.

The “heart of Hawaii”, Oahu is the most populous island and home to Hawaii’s bustling capital city of Honolulu.

For a teenager going on a trip to Hawaii, this island has it all – famous beaches, water sports, island tours, and theme parks. Oahu also has tons of urban attractions that teens will enjoy, such as shopping centres, and entertainment venues.

When you travel to an island destination, the first thing you need to do is to hit the beach. Luckily Oahu is home to some of the best beaches in Hawaii. So whether you’re looking for a relaxed day soaking up the sun or an adventurous day of water sports, you’ll find it here.

On the southern shore of Oahu, Waikiki Beach is the most famous, with its golden sand and crystal-clear waters. Diamond Head Beach is another popular spot.

Both these beaches are great for water sports, while teens can also go snorkelling, and scuba diving. Or if they’re feeling more adventurous, try parasailing above the ocean, or even take a jet-ski with friends.

Surfing is one of the most popular activities on the island too, and Oahu is not short on some great spots. Your kids can try surfing, or stand-up paddle boarding, or even go on a catamaran ride to explore the coastline.

Hawaii beach Honolulu city travel landscape of Waikiki beach and Diamond Head mountain peak at sunset, Oahu island, USA vacation.

In the summer, the waves are gentler, so it’s the ideal time to book surf lessons near Waikiki Beach and learn the exciting sport.

Apart from the southern shore, Oahu’s North Shore is also a favourite spot for surfers. Teens will get to watch experienced surfers ride up to 100-foot waves! Waimea Bay is another spot that also hosts an annual surfing competition in winter, when the surf’s higher and stronger.

To explore the island, Oahu has plenty of island tours available, such as helicopter tripd, where you can see the island from above. A circle island tour takes you to explore hidden beaches and beautiful lookout points.

Oahu also has some great theme parks. Teens will love Wet’n’Wild Hawaii, with its water slides and wave pools.

Leaving the beaches behind and going inland, there are plenty of other activities and attractions that will make teens enjoy their time. The Polynesian Cultural Center is an interesting place to visit. It is a Polynesian-themed park that offers cultural demonstrations, games, and performances.

Then there is the famous Pearl Harbor Historic Sites, where you learn about World War II. The Pearl Harbor Memorial , a national park that holds a variety of exhibits and galleries, and the USS Arizona Memorial , are must-visits.

Shopping is also a must-do in Oahu. Teens that like malls will likely love the Ala Moana Center , the largest open-air shopping mall in the world!

And as every shopping spree also involves food breaks, don’t forget to try some shaved ice, which is a local dessert consisting of finely shaved ice topped with a variety of flavoured syrups, sweetened condensed milk or mocha (sweet rice cake) to add extra sweetness and texture.

Lastly, Oahu’s nightlife scene is vibrant and diverse. From bars and clubs in Waikiki to beach parties in North Shore, there’s something for everyone. Many venues host live music events, and there are even some all-ages shows where children can join in the fun.

Oahu is a fantastic Hawaiian island for teens looking for an exciting and diverse holiday experience with lots of city and beach fun.

Overall: 9/10 (there’s just so much to do!)

Start of Waikiki from above

Maui has been made famous in recent years by the many celebrities that have vacationed there. There are world-famous beaches and the epic road trip along the stunning ‘Road to Hana’.

Another great activity is to travel to the top of Haleakala Volcano and bike down.

The island of Maui is a true paradise in the Pacific Ocean. With world-famous beaches and plenty of outdoor activities, such as hiking and zip lining, and water sports such as snorkelling, Maui offers a fun and exciting vacation for teenagers who love the outdoors and nature.

It’s no secret that Maui has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world too.

Beaches like Makena Beach and Napili Bay offer calm waters and a peaceful atmosphere. While more popular beaches, such as Kaanapali Beach , offer plenty of water sports and activities.

Teens that are into water sports, can try surfing, windsurfing, kiteboarding, paddle boarding, and scuba diving at these beaches and others on Maui. There’s no need to have your own equipment either, as many rental shops and tour operators on the island provide everything you need.

As one of Hawaii’s most kid-friendly islands, Maui has some great opportunities for the whole family to go snorkelling as well.

Napili Bay is perfect for first-time snorkelers while other places like Honolua Bay (which is actually a marine life conservation area) and Kapalua Bay , offer snorkelling opportunities with marine life like green sea turtles. (Related: Maui vs Oahu – Which Is Better? )

Humpback breach Maui

And if you’re going in winter, you can take a whale-watching boat tour and see humpback whales swim up close!

While Maui is a small island, there’s still a lot to see and do that would interest teenagers. Island tours are great to experience the natural beauty of the island.

One of the top tours is the drive on the Road to Hana that takes you past waterfalls, bamboo forests, and beaches. The fun part of the road trip is not the drive, but enjoying the scenic stops along the way.

Other tours include hiking through the lush rainforest of Haleakala National Park , and visiting historic sites like Lahaina and the Iao Valley State Park .

However the most memorable will perhaps be visiting Haleakala National Park early in the morning to see the sunrise over the volcano. And the most thrilling – taking a helicopter tour to see the island from above!

Although Maui doesn’t have any traditional theme parks, thrill-seeking teens will still find other unique attractions, such as the Maui Ocean Center .

This state-of-the-art aquarium showcases the incredible marine life of Hawaii where you can see sharks, sea turtles, and rays up close, and even go on a behind-the-scenes tour.

The Maui Tropical Plantation is another must-see, where you can take a tram tour through lush gardens and learn about the island’s agricultural heritage.

If your teen loves shopping, Maui will not disappoint either. Plenty of shops dot the island, offering everything from high end brands to local crafts and souvenirs.

The Whalers Village in Kaanapali and the Shops at Wailea are some of the best spots. You can also check out the Maui Swap Meet , which is a popular flea market where you can buy everything from souvenirs to fresh produce.

Lastly, Maui’s evening scene is diverse and lively. You can also attend a traditional Hawaiian Luau, which is a cultural experience with dancing, music, and a delicious feast.

All in all, Maui is a fantastic Hawaiian island for teens who would love a mix of adventure, relaxation, and fun.

Overall: 7/10 (A good mix of everything)

Morning drone view of palms on deserted beach with gentle waves on Maui, Hawaii, USA.

Aloha! Kauai, also known as the Garden Island, is a paradise for nature lovers, but it’s also a fantastic destination for teenagers looking for an action-packed vacation.

Full of lush greenery and natural beauty, Kauai has plenty going on – from beach activities to adventure sports like zip lining and challenging hiking trails.

Kauai has some of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii too, where your kids will love spending their days swimming, surfing, and paddle boarding in the crystal-clear waters.

Some of the best beaches include Hanalei Bay , Ke’e Beach, and the popular Poipu Beach . These beaches offer opportunities for snorkelling, kayaking, and boogie boarding. There are plenty of beach equipment rental shops available too, so you don’t have to worry about bringing your own gear.

And if you’re looking for real adventure on the water, Kauai is the perfect place to try out water sports like scuba diving, snorkelling, and even surfing lessons.

There are several surf schools on the island, such as Hanalei Surf School and Kauai Surf School. Experienced surfers can also try their skills at some of the island’s more challenging surf spots like Tunnels Beach .

To explore and see the island in a truly unique and thrilling way, go for a helicopter tour of the island.  You see and experience the red and green Waimea Canyon , which is also called Hawaii’s Grand Canyon, and the misty Mt. Waialeale, Kauai’s tallest point.

Through a helicopter tour, you can even see some sites that are not accessible otherwise. From above, take in breathtaking views of the stunning cliffs of the Napali Coast , and also see the 400-foot Manawaiopuna Falls . (Related: Which Is Better – Kauai or Maui? )

Na Pali Coast from drone

And did you know that Kauai was the filming location for Jurassic Park? Yep! Now that’s one way to impress any movie-loving teenagers!

The gorgeous Napali Coast can also be toured on a boat. This way you can see the stunning sea cliffs, waterfalls, and sea caves up close, and also get to indulge in snorkelling and swimming.

Now Kauai doesn’t have any theme parks as such, but it makes up for it with plenty of outdoor activities.

Thrill-seeking teens can try zip lining as there are a variety of zip line companies, the most popular one being 400-foot long. Just imagine the adrenaline rush as you soar through a rainforest and beautiful natural scenery! Another fun activity to try is mountain tubing through mountain river tunnels.

Hawaii’s food is amazing as well, and in Kauai you can try local delicacies on the many food trucks. You can find these food trucks all over the islands, but the best ones tend to be in Kauai. There is a big variety of options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even dessert, with food from cuisines like Mexican and even Filipino.

The shopping and nightlife scene is similar to what other Hawaiian islands offer; Kauai has a few shopping centres and boutiques, such as the Kukui Grove Center and Poipu Shopping Village , where teens can shop for souvenirs, beachwear, and local crafts.

While Kauai isn’t known for its nightlife, there are still plenty of places to enjoy an evening out. Teens can catch a movie at the Kukui Grove Cinema , enjoy live music at one of the island’s many restaurants, or attend a Hawaiian cultural show to experience the island’s traditional music and dance.

Overall, Kauai is one of the best Hawaiian islands for teenagers looking for a mix of fun and exploration.

Overall: 6/10 (Stunning nature, but a little lacking elsewhere)

4. The Big Island

Hawaii Island, otherwise known as the “Big Island”, is the largest and most diverse in the Hawaiian archipelago.

It’s more than twice the size of all the other Hawaiian islands combined, hence the nickname “Big Island.” And it’s a paradise that offers the perfect combination of culture, relaxation, adventure (including volcanoes and active lava fields!) and a diverse terrain.

Hawaii is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and the Big Island is no exception. Teens can enjoy a variety of beach activities, such as sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling, and even surfing here.

Surfboard rentals are aplenty and along with some lessons from trained surfers, teens can have an amazing experience surfing the waves. In particular, Honokohau Beach is a black sand beach that’s popular with surfers and body boarders.

For a more laid-back holiday, you can head to Waialea Beach , a secluded and un-crowded beach with some excellent snorkelling thanks to its clear waters.

Other popular beaches are Mauna Kea , which has a beautiful coral reef brimming with marine life, Kua Bay , with white sand and turquoise waters, and the fun Hapuna Beach , where you can also picnic and even have a bbq. (Related: Which Is Better – Big Island or Oahu? )

A series of lava flows spill into the ocean over a cliff at dusk, on the Big Island, Hawaii

If your teen enjoys water sports, there are plenty of options to choose from on this island too. Whether they want to go scuba diving, parasailing, or kayaking, the Big Island is fantastic. Another fun and popular activity is stand-up paddle boarding.

For snorkelling, Napoopoo Beach and Kahalu’u Bay are great spots. With a trained guide and proper gear, teens will get the opportunity to see dolphins, sea turtles, colourful reefs, and all kinds of tropical fish.

Since no trip to any Hawaiian island is complete without island tours, you must do some on the Big Island too.

Teens will likely enjoy exploring the active volcano of Kilauea, and visiting the historical sites of Pu’uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park . And for a more thrilling experience, what would be better than a helicopter tour with bird’s eye view of the island’s beaches and waterfalls!

Adventure is not short on the Big Island, and trails like the Akaka Falls Loop , which takes you through a rainforest, and the Kilauea Iki Trail , which goes through a volcanic crater and offers stunning views of the Kilauea volcano, are quite easy to moderate.

But one of the most exciting place to visit is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park . Here you get to see active volcanoes up close, and walk hiking trails that take you through volcanic terrain.

Then there is the Umauma Falls and the Zip Line Experience . As the name says it, you get to zip-line over stunning waterfalls and through lush tropical forests. There is also a rope course, giant swings, and a giant water slide. Teenagers would be thrilled!

In conclusion, the Big Island goes big on making a vacation exciting with volcanoes the star of the show!

Overall: 7/10 (Very nature-focused, but all the volcano-action makes it a pretty special Hawaiian island for teens and the whole family!)

Marriott's Aruba Surf Club

You won’t find a ton of massive all-inclusive resorts or areas packed with nightclubs in Aruba , but the small island is still a worthwhile party spot, particularly for those looking to do some gambling. Drinking and gambling at one of the several casinos is legal for 18 year olds, plus the casinos are often open until late at night and have some form of entertainment. Visitors can find a hotel with a swim-up bar for day drinking, and head to the Palm Beach area at night, which is home to popular Gusto night club, Soprano’s Piano Bar, Saloon Bar, and Bugaloe Beach Bar & Grill. For more authentic culture, drive 20 minutes south to Oranjestad to the highly frequented rum shop, Local Store, and Cafe Chaos, a pub that attracts both locals and tourists.

Our Party Hotel Pick: Marriott’s Aruba Surf Club

The lively Marriott’s Aruba Surf Club is a mid-range property in Aruba’s popular beachfront High Rise district. Rooms with kitchenettes, or apartment-style units with full kitchens are available, and many have wonderful views of the pool and ocean. The highlight here is the series of pools with a Lazy River, waterslide, and swim-up bar.

5. Negril, Jamaica

Rick's Cafe, Negril/Oyster

Travelers looking to experience more local culture than the average Caribbean island — without sacrificing party-filled activities — should head to Negril, Jamaica . Although it’s not nearly as culturally immersive as the capital of Kingston , it offers a lovely blend of stunning beaches , seaside bars and restaurants serving jerk chicken and Red Stripe, and live entertainment from Jamaicans. Cliff-jumping at Rick’s Cafe, fresh seafood along Seven Mile Beach , and dancing to DJ-led music at spots like The Jungle Night Club are not to be missed.

Our Party Hotel Pick: Hedonism II

The all-inclusive Hedonism II is an upper-middle-range nudist resort, popular with couples looking to spice up their vacation, fun-seeking groups, and some singles. This adults-only resort is tucked into a quiet, secluded section of Negril’s Seven Mile Beach in Jamaica. There are both a “nude” and “prude” side here to accommodate guests of different comfort levels, in addition to sexy theme nights, a risque playroom, and shop for lingerie and toys.

6. Cartagena, Colombia

Cartagena, Colombia

You may know Cartagena from its plethora of Instagram-worthy facades in vibrant hues with climbing greenery, but this coastal Colombian city is home to a wide array of day and nighttime attractions . After spending a day exploring the colonial architecture within the historic Walled City , travelers can head to nearby spots such as Cafe Havana for cuban music and salsa dancing, Alquimico for fancy craft cocktails, and Via Apia for tapas. For more nightclubs, beaches, and modern buildings, take a quick taxi to the Bocagrande neighborhood.

Our Party Hotel Pick: Hotel Casa del Arzobispado

Set within the historic Walled City, across the street from Cartagena’s famous Catedral de Santa Catalina, Hotel Casa del Arzobispado is an upper-middle-range boutique that’s charming and elegant. The property has just 10 spacious, individually decorated rooms, a beautiful pool and courtyard, and free Wi-Fi. All rates include breakfast and there’s a small spa and sauna for relaxing.

Pricing for Hotel Casa del Arzobispado

Lions Dive and Beach Resorts Curacao

Albeit smaller than its neighbor Aruba, the Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao still has a great spread of hopping bars and clubs. Close to the cruise terminal is Mambo Beach , which houses Wet & Wild Beach Club offering happy hour and live DJs, and Madera Ocean Club, featuring well-priced cocktail and food menus. The more central Willemstad area has 27 Bar & Terrace, a popular live music venue, and Sopranos sports bar. The great windsurfing conditions, photogenic colonial architecture, and rampant beautiful beaches are just cherries on top of the piña coladas.

Our Party Hotel Pick: Santa Barbara Beach & Gold Resort, Curacao

The 350-room Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort is an expansive luxury property that draws both couples and families with its array of features such as a lovely spa, kids’ camp, and three pools. The wide, white-sand beach and protected swimming area are highlights, as is an 18-hole golf course. The all-inclusive package covers all meals at the restaurant and pool bar; select beers, house wines, and cocktails

8. Barbados

Yellow Bird Hotel

Known for pink-sand beaches , observable British influence, and shipwreck diving , Barbados is a spirited Caribbean nation with nightlife to match. The most popular area for drinking and dining is St. Lawrence Gap , a strip of restaurants, bars, clubs, and hotels near Dover Beach . The Cove is a bustling club there that plays a variety of music including calypso and reggae, while nearby Old Jamm Inn has a dance floor, cheap drinks, and a mix of locals and tourists. For those closer to the capital of Bridgetown , the open-air Harbour Lights is a well-regarded nightclub, while visitors to the Holetown area often make a stop of Red Door Lounge and Drift Ocean Terrace Lounge.

Our Party Hotel Pick: Yellow Bird Hotel

The mid-range Yellow Bird has a great location across from a beach in the popular St. Lawrence Gap area, within walking distance of nightlife, restaurants, and several beaches. There are 22 rooms here with contemporary decor, kitchenettes, and furnished balconies overlooking the sea. A small outdoor pool with loungers and an all-day, open-air restaurant and bar also provide ocean views.

The Pool at the Salybia Nature Resort & Spa Trinidad

Our Party Hotel Pick: Courtyard by Marriott Port of Spain

To be near the Carnival hub, we recommend staying at Courtyard by Marriott Port of Spain. This upper-middle-range property has 116 clean, contemporary rooms with mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, and balconies in some. The hotel offers an outdoor pool set in a spacious sundeck, a fitness center, and all-day restaurant, plus free Wi-Fi.

The tour was a nice pace, 2 days on each island. The optional extras were not anything too exciting, I only did 2, sailing in paros and winery in Santorini which is really enjoyed both and recommended. Found the hotels to be all good except Santorini, the hotel in Santorini was far from the main attractions and did not allow for easy access to the main cities and not worth it for the price of the tour. This tour allowed for a lot of free time to do what you wanted which was nice.

A laid-back family vacation? Here are the 7 best US islands for fun-filled escapes

I sland travel holds a lot of appeal for families. Maybe it's the gorgeous ocean views and pristine beaches that lure us to the most idyllic U.S. islands. Maybe it's the laid-back coastal vibes that make them such a great family vacation idea . I have many fond memories of visiting Martha’s Vineyard, Amelia Island and Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island as a child. For my own little one, there’s something especially magical about taking a ferry to reach our destination.

Of course, not all island vacations in the U.S. need to be accessible by ferry to be charming, but the country's best islands for family vacations are typically surrounded by large bodies of water, which makes them feel remote and removed from the hustle and bustle of daily life. If you're dreaming of a passport-free island vacation with the kids, these are the U.S. islands that have a special appeal to families.

SUN AND SAND: 12 best beach resorts in the U.S. for families

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

1. Whidbey Island, Washington

Just north of Seattle and easily accessible by ferry, Washington's Whidbey Island is one of the longest islands in the United States, stretching about 40 miles. Though there are several scenic towns on this island, my family's favorites are Langley and Coupeville, both of which offer easy access to kid-friendly activities like hiking, water sports, or a simple day at the beach.

AT THE WATER'S EDGE: 16 best lake resorts and hotels in the U.S. for families

In Langley, stay at the spacious Langley by the Sea rental home for spectacular waterfront views, a fenced backyard, a state-of-the-art kitchen for home-cooked meals, and a large family room perfect for reconnecting with the kids over a classic board game . A quick five-minute drive away, downtown Langley bustles with lively shops and eateries. Stop by Sea Biscuit Bakery for a grab-and-go breakfast and select from one of many house-made pastries and hot breakfast sandwiches. Family-friendly Penn Cove Brewing serves up tacos, sandwiches, and salads. Ultra House offers ramen and Asian fusion with a twist and offers a kids menu.

The town of Coupeville is best known as the film location of the 1998 movie classic "Practical Magic," starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. It’s also a hidden gem for families looking to explore the coast of this fabulous U.S. island vacation destination. Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve sits along Puget Sound with more than 30 miles of hiking trails for all skill levels. Stroll along the beach looking for seashells and sea glass, or bring a picnic to enjoy on the beach.

In Coupeville, make Harrington’s Hideaway your home base. The two-bedroom home has a bathtub for those traveling with small kids, in addition to private beach access and a fenced yard where kids can play. Dinner options are aplenty in this little coastal town. Molka Xete serves excellent casual Mexican food, while Gordon’s Fusion dishes out eclectic flavors including jambalaya, carne asada and vegan burgers. Fare Market has a great selection of takeout items on its menu.

FAMILY FUN: 7 charming coastal towns in the U.S. that are perfect for a family vacation

There are plenty of family-friendly activities on the water in Whidbey Island. For families with young kids, I recommend a Family Fun Loop Kayak Tour (ages six and up) with Whidbey Island Kayaking . The 90-minute family tour offers ample opportunities to spot wildlife. Get even further out onto the water on an open deck boat with the one-hour Deception Pass Wildlife Tour , where you can expect to see bald eagles, seals and possibly a whale. For a thrilling land-based adventure, zip-line through an Old Growth forest with Canopy Tours NW .

2. Amelia Island, Florida

Situated off the Sunshine State's northern coast, Amelia Island is one of the most romantic getaways in Florida for couples , but it's also an especially great island for families. The island's most family-friendly amenities can be found at Omni Amelia Island Resort , which has a splash pool, a family pool and daily activities such as pickleball, a tennis clinic, and arts and crafts. This popular resort also has plenty of kid-friendly dining options, including both casual and fine-dining restaurants, which makes it a great option for tired parents after a long day of fun in the sun. Larger families might consider one of the many vacation rental options on the island as well.

SUNSHINE STATE: 10 dreamy Florida beach resorts for families

Lounging on one of Florida's best family beaches is a great way to spend the day. Parents and kids can build sandcastles, go for a swim, or rent a paddleboard or float. But Amelia Island has an adventurous side, too. You can book a river cruise and ecotour to learn more about the wildlife on Cumberland Island, just north of Amelia − don't be surprised if you spot a dolphin or wild horses during your tour. Visit the Historic District on Centre Street for art galleries, vintage shops, and the family-owned Villa Villekulla Toys toy store.

3. Fripp Island, South Carolina

At the southern tip of South Carolina, Fripp Island is just 3,000 acres and is best known for explorers and pirates seeking treasure. Because of its remoteness, it exudes a kind of laid-back charm you can find only on the best island vacations in the U.S., but that doesn't mean there isn't a lot for families to do here.

MAKE MEMORIES: 22 best family vacation spots in the U.S.

Fripp Island Resort has family-friendly amenities along with special packages for those traveling with kids. Kids can partake in Camp Fripp , which offers educational and creative workshops that include painting, tie-dye, and learning about area wildlife. There’s a swim-in movie night along with live entertainment throughout the week. If you want to get on the water, book a kayaking tour or a pontoon cruise. The world-class golf course is great for active adults looking to get some swings in, while weekly activities for adults, kids, and families keep non-golfers busy.

Dining options on this tiny island range from delis and cafes to the High Tide Pizza Food Truck and the Big Fripp Dipper Ice Cream Truck. Nothing screams summer like a good old-fashioned ice cream cone. Fripp Island Golf and Beach Resort also offers vacation rentals with a home-away-from-home feel where you'll have the convenience of a fully equipped kitchen and outdoor grill for BBQs.

4. Mackinac Island, Michigan

One of the most popular Midwest family vacations , idyllic little Mackinac Island is the quintessential U.S. island destination for active families. Visiting the thickly forested island is like traveling back in time to an era of car-free roads, horse-drawn carriages and stately Victorian homes. There are more than 70 miles of trails to explore either by bicycle or on foot, plus an adorable downtown and ample coastline for water sports. Great Turtle Kayak Tours provides lessons, tours, and rentals for kayaking, paddleboarding and snorkeling . Its most popular tour is of the underwater coastal caves.

FUN IN THE SUN: 11 best family beach vacations in the U.S.

Mackinac Island's Grand Hotel is generally considered one of the best family resorts in the U.S. , but an equally good option for families is Mission Point Resort . Mission Point's flexible kids club is available from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., allowing parents ample time to enjoy dinner and some alone time. The club has activities to keep little ones busy and serves them dinner.

The resort also has an outdoor pool, a heated swimming pool, and two hot tubs. There’s a putting course, lawn games, tennis courts, and bicycles to rent. Head to Admiral Dave’s Arcade for a variety of games and entertainment, or take a history tour of the resort and the island. Don’t miss movie nights at the historic movie theater.

5. Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island, Maine

Home to Maine's Acadia National Park and the charming seaside town of Bar Harbor, Mount Desert Island is the sixth-largest island in the United States. This budget-friendly family vacation destination is popular with all ages because there's a lot to do year-round, but it's especially unique among island vacations in the U.S. because it's just as much fun in the fall and winter as it is during the warmer months.

SEASIDE ESCAPES: New England vacations: 11 charming coastal towns in Maine, Massachusetts, more

It’s also an excellent family vacation spot to witness and learn about wildlife and diverse ecosystems. Visit the Oceanarium and Education Center , which showcases a 29-foot lobster boat , nine tanks featuring local marine habitat, and a large touch pool full of sea cucumbers, crabs and other underwater species.

When visiting Acadia National Park, kids can participate in the park’s Junior Ranger Program and be sworn in as Junior Ranger. Acadia Quest is another fun initiative to encourage little ones to learn about national parks and explore nature. Simply download the app, go through a series of challenges, and document your experiences on social media. The national park has a variety of hiking and walking trails suitable for different levels. From the flat Wonderland Trail that opens to tide pools to the lush Jesup Path and Hemlock Path Loop , there’s a lot of Great Outdoors to explore on this U.S. island.

Stay at the Acadia Inn in Bar Harbor, where the rooms are spacious and affordable and hotel specials include the Kid's Kampout package, which provides tiny guests with a tent, lantern, and mat for an indoor camping experience. The hotel also offers bath kits that include tear-free shampoo and rubber duckies.

6. Vashon-Maury Island, Washington

Home to fewer than 11,000 full-time residents, Vashon-Maury Island is actually two islands in the Puget Sound connected by an isthmus built by homeowners in 1913. Make Vashon Inn your home base while visiting this U.S. island destination. Its four nicely appointed suites are roomy, comfortable, and set up like a private home or apartment with a kitchen, dining area, and living area. Larger families needing more space can rent two separate suites right next to each other.

UNUSUAL OVERNIGHTS: 13 best lighthouse hotels where you can spend the night

I also recommend Vashon Inn because it's just a three-minute walk to the island's sweet downtown, where you’ll find a delicious bakery , tons of restaurants , and cute shops selling local crafts. You can arrange for a horseback riding excursion that weaves through trails in an old growth forest, or take the kids on a morning hike to burn off some energy. There are many easy trails to explore. One of my family's favorites is the Judd Creek Trail , an easy 1-mile loop. Kayak and e-bike rentals are available on the island from Vashon Adventures , which offers tours and classes suitable for all ages.

If you’re interested in UFOs, visit the site of a purported UFO landing (commonly referred to as the Maury Island Incident) at the Vashon Municipal Airport. For something more terrestrial, plan a relaxing day looking for sand dollars and seashells at the beach. Visit a local llama farm (by appointment only) for a unique island vacation experience.

The variety of dining choices also make Vashon one of the best islands in the U.S. for families. In addition to a fleet of food trucks, you can't go wrong with Pure Organic Kitchen and Juicery for its speedy service and fresh ingredients. Vashon Pizza has an amazing Helena Greek pizza. Extra hungry? Go for the cheese bread with all the dipping sauces. And you'll regret it if you miss Glass Bottle Creamery , which makes some of the best ice cream in the world (I'm not exaggerating). The creamery sources its eggs, cream and milk from local farmers. Dairy-free and vegan options are also available.

7. Maui, Hawaii

You can't talk about the best islands in the U.S. without mentioning the Hawaiian Islands . They're all wonderful to visit, but Maui is my pick for families yearning for an unforgettable tropical escape with a well-earned reputation for kid-friendly activities and abundant natural beauty. From the moment you set foot off the plane, perpetual sunshine and sprawling mountains greet you.

HASSLE-FREE HAWAII: 10 best family resorts in Hawaii

Make the Grand Wailea your family's base camp on this island adventure. The 40-acre property has spectacular ocean views, spacious rooms and a memorable luau suitable for children of all ages to go along with its nine pools, 2,000-foot lazy river with waterslides, tennis courts, beachfront access and daily kids activities. Enroll the little ones in the Grand Passport Program , which is a guide that helps them navigate all the resort's fun offerings.

Explore the island via a Hele Wai Eco Reserve or hiking tour through the hotel’s concierge. These off-site tours offer families a kid-friendly exploration of Maui’s local flora and fauna, and opportunities for spotting wildlife. Or, rent a car and get out into the real Maui, exploring the island's scenic roads (you'll often see whales breaching off the coast), driving to the top of the towering Haleakala volcano, or taking in popular attractions such as the Maui Ocean Center and Maui Arts and Cultural Center.

Which hawaiian island is the best to visit our 2024 ranking.

Though it can be easy to assume the six most visited Hawaiian Islands offer similar experiences, they are more diverse than you can imagine. From Waimea Canyon to Waikiki Beach, Hawaii’s wealth of natural beauty (think: cerulean waters, verdant vegetation and stunning white sand beaches ) is just waiting to be explored. To help you decide which Hawaiian Island is ideal for your next vacation, U.S. News took into account sights, expert opinion and reader input to determine the best Hawaiian Islands to visit. Vote for your favorite island below to have a say in next year's list.

Kaua'i

Hawaii - the big island, honolulu - oahu.

best islands to visit for young adults

Though it's perhaps most famous for the fabulous coastlines of Ka'anapali Beach and Wailea Beach, Maui is a great option for both couples and families looking for variety in their vacation. Away from the sand, you can drive the Road to Hana, enjoy a bird's-eye view during a helicopter tour , see one of the world's largest dormant volcanoes at Haleakala National Park and get up close to marine wildlife while snorkeling in Honolua Bay or around Molokini. Then, for an experience you won’t forget, relax on the volcanic coastline of Wai'anapanapa State Park, where jet-black sands meet vibrant sapphire waters.

best islands to visit for young adults

With a more easygoing environment than other islands like Oahu and the Big Island, the Garden Isle lets its wild, natural beauty speak for itself and is perfect for an adventurous getaway. The main attractions here are Koke'e State Park and Waimea Canyon, otherwise known as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." But you also won’t want to miss Kaua'i’s breathtaking Wailua Falls or dreamy Po'ipu Beach. And if a challenging hike is what you’re after, it doesn’t get more scenic than the Kalalau Trail along the rugged Napali Coast. Just remember to pack galoshes and a rain jacket – Kaua'i is one of Hawaii's rainiest islands.

best islands to visit for young adults

The island of Hawaii's bevy of one-of-a-kind attractions and family-friendly activities makes it ideal for travelers who prefer a jam-packed itinerary. Not only does the Big Island offer white and black sand beaches , including the famous Punalu’u Black Sand Beach, it is also home to lush rainforests and two active volcanoes at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. History buffs will love visiting Pu'ukohola Heiau National Historic Site (home to one of Hawaii's largest restored temples) and Kealakekua Bay (where British explorer James Cook first arrived in 1779). Or, head to Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park to see petroglyphs, ancient Hawaiian fishponds and green sea turtles.

best islands to visit for young adults

The least-developed island on this list, Moloka'i was made for those who don’t mind going off the beaten path. With lush rainforests, miles of beautiful beaches and some of the tallest sea cliffs in the world, Moloka'i is a great place to reconnect with nature, whether you’re staying overnight at one of Moloka'i’s quiet oceanfront cottages – there is only one hotel on the island – or visiting on a day trip from one of the other Hawaiian Islands. Top activities here include soaking up some sun on secluded Papohaku Beach, snorkeling Moloka'i's 28-mile reef or joining a guided cultural hike through Halawa Valley.

best islands to visit for young adults

Dubbed The Gathering Place, Oahu is home to plenty of famous sites and a great jumping-off point for first-time visitors to the Hawaiian Islands. On the South Shore, you'll find Waikiki Beach, Hanauma Bay, Pearl Harbor National Memorial and Le'ahi (Diamond Head) State Monument, all in or near the capital city of Honolulu. Meanwhile, the North Shore is home to a more laid-back vibe, as well as the renowned waves at Waimea Bay and Sunset Beach, which host major surfing competitions every year. After exploring along the coast, head inland to the tranquil Byodo-In Temple, a replica of a Buddhist temple in Uji, Japan.

best islands to visit for young adults

For a secluded, nature-centric escape, set your sights on Lana'i. Centrally located between Maui and Moloka'i, this remote hideaway makes a great home base for inter-island travel. Travelers can take a four-wheel-drive vehicle to spots like Kaiolohia (Shipwreck Beach) and Kaunolu Village, a prehistoric fishing village that was once frequented by King Kamehameha I, or spend their days sunbathing on Polihua Beach. In winter, head to Hulopo'e Bay for terrific whale-watching opportunities. Then, make your way to Keahiakawelo (Garden of the Gods), an enchanting rock garden that was once part of a native dryland forest, for a breathtaking Lana'i sunset.

8 Best Greek Islands for Young Couples [From a Local]

' src=

For young couples seeking a getaway, Greece is the ideal destination. The ultimate travel experience is provided by the breathtaking scenery, plenty of outdoor activities, historical sites, vibrant cultural hubs, and stunning sunsets. You have a ton of options when looking for the ideal Greek island for couples because there are more than 200 islands scattered across the sparkling Aegean and Ionian Seas. Each island has its romantic appeal and provides something different, yet they are all rich in mythology and natural beauty.

Factors that young couples must consider to choose a Greek island

  • Adventure and activities :  Even just being in Greece is an amazing experience. Extreme sports are available in Greece for those looking for an adrenaline rush beyond breathtaking views and exciting nights. Tourists can go hiking and trekking on the slopes while viewing the sunset above the azure Greek Sea, even on little Greek islands like  Milos  and  Andros . When paragliding above that stunning island in the Ionian Sea, the view from Kefalonia has to be the best. You’ll be able to see  Zakynthos , where base jumping is popular, on the horizon. Tourists visit  Santorini’s  underwater regions, diving there to explore the island’s gloomy tunnels and vibrant riffs.
  • Nightlife :  The Cyclades islands are the place to go if you want to enjoy the renowned Greek island nightlife as well as take in the distinctive whitewashed houses with deep blue accents you’ve seen on postcards all over the world! Particularly on the island of  Mykonos,  innumerable beach bars and nightclubs are hosting crazy parties that frequently go until nine or ten in the morning! Of course, it would be impossible to discuss the Cyclades without mentioning the one and only  Santorini . Here, we also have to mention  Zakynthos  which belongs to the Ionian sea.
  • Food and drinks :  Nobody can dispute that  Crete’s  regional cuisine is better than that of any other Greek island, deserving of a department all to itself. Of course, that does not imply that the island is devoid of breathtaking vistas and beaches. Furthermore, Santorini has delicious foods like fava. The same is happening with Milos too and the famous katsikaki (a young goat baked on parchment paper). Don’t mention Kefalonia with the most delicious kreatopita (meat pie) you will ever try.
  • Affordability :  Greece is one of the most well-liked tourist destinations in Europe because of its fascinating history, vibrant culture, and abundance of breathtaking natural attractions. Greece’s affordability is another factor in its popularity. Even in the height of the tourist season, you may go here for a significant discount compared to other European nations. That is, though, assuming you know where to go. Popular vacation spots like Santorini and Mykonos are not the best places to stretch your travel budget. However, finding less expensive Greek islands is not difficult. Some of the most affordable islands for young couples in Greece are  Hydra, Andros, Kefalonia , and more.

Best Greek Islands for Young Couples

Greek islands are a great destination for couples who want to enjoy beautiful beaches, delectable cuisine, and nightlife because of their superb food, magnificent beaches, and wonderful properties. Keep reading the list of the best Greek islands for young couples.

santorini honeymoon couple

The stunning island of Santorini, which is part of the Cyclades, is well known for its characteristic blue dome churches, breathtaking beaches, and wonderful sunsets. It is one of the most visited islands in the nation and draws thousands of tourists each year because of these and numerous other factors. Catch the sunset with your significant other in Oia and visit Red Beach, one of the most distinctive beaches in the world, for absolutely mesmerizing vistas. The stunning Greek island will come as a nice surprise to honeymooners hoping to spend quality time together. After all, it is among the most romantic places on earth.

Why is Santorini perfect for young couples?

No list of the top Greek islands for couples would be complete without Santorini. It’s understandable why Santorini is one of the most popular Greek islands for couples. The towns on the island are built on cliffs and provide breathtaking views of the Caldera below. You can take a stroll down narrow alleys dotted with churches with blue domes, sip wine while watching the sunset over the ocean, or have a candlelit supper with a view.

The island of Andros defies categorization and continuously pleases its visitors. It is urbane yet rural, mountainous yet beach-lined, and nautical yet agricultural. Andros, the second-largest island in the Cyclades after Naxos, is only two hours from the port of Rafina, northeast of Athens. And there are many surprises. Where else might you discover Venetian palaces and unspoiled beaches, raging rivers and deserted watermills, a top-notch modern art museum, and the lavish homes of local shipowners, as well as indicated hiking routes and breathtaking cliff edges? Despite its affluence, Andros is unlike any other Cycladic island in that it is quiet, unassuming, and wary of tourists. It is just waiting for the discriminating traveler to find it.

Why is Andros perfect for young couples?

Andros is ideal for young couples that enjoy being outside. There are numerous opportunities to explore the lush wildlife on offer in this underappreciated location. There are many places to go hiking, whether you wish to walk beside waterfalls or climb lush hills. Meanwhile, the chances for diving and windsurfing will spoil watersports enthusiasts.

greece mykonos

Mykonos should be at the top of your list of Greek islands to visit if you and your partner are seeking lively nightlife. Mykonos town’s cobbled alleyways are crammed with bustling clubs and eateries, the island’s reputation as a party island. Couples should visit this location because of a variety of factors, not just the atmosphere after sunset. You may learn about the island’s decadent food scene during the day, which is one of its best-kept secrets. In Mykonos, there are a ton of romantic activities just waiting to be explored. The Greek god’s Apollo and Artemis were born on the adjacent island of Delos, which is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend your afternoons sipping refreshing cocktails on a beach while it’s sunny out, trying your hand at water sports, or going on a day trip there. One of the nicest beaches in Europe is Ornos Beach, which we heartily recommend visiting.

Why is Mykonos perfect for young couples?

This island is renowned as Greece’s party island. The nightlife on Mykonos makes it one of the best Greek islands for young couples and singles, but it’s also a terrific option for couples wishing to rekindle their romance. The nightlife on the island is also well-known. Of all the Greek islands, Mykonos features some of the best clubs, taverns, and pubs. There are, however, a lot of peaceful areas where you may unwind and recharge far from the noise and lights. So, Mykonos might be the greatest island in Greece for couples like you if you both appreciate gorgeous beaches, top-notch nightlife, and delectable food.

white chalk cliffs in Sarakiniko, Milos island, Cyclades, Greece

The top Greek islands for couples unquestionably include Milos. Not to mention the friendly communities and exciting things to do here, its breathtaking environment alone makes it the ideal setting for romance. Milos is well connected to the Greek mainland, and over the summer, numerous ships depart from Athens each day. The island of Milos is renowned for its remarkable rock formations, where tall white pillars protrude into the surrounding azure waters. Take a picnic and visit Milos’s most stunning rock formations, Sarakiniko beach, or Kleftiko rocks. If you’re a foodie, go to Pollania, a fishing village, where you may eat freshly caught seafood while taking in the view of the charming harbor.

Why is Milos perfect for young couples?

If there is a place on Earth that can be described as heaven, it might be Milos. It has pure water, stunning sunsets, and breathtaking views. The tiny island is still accessible for a fair price and is rumored to be the next high-end travel destination in Greece, so visit it with your partner while you can. Milos has a dormant volcano of its own. Visit the Milos Mining Museum to learn more about it, and then sign up for one of the many excursion groups that follow set paths. Milos boasts fantastic nightlife if you want to let your troubles fade away with your significant other (one that may just compete with Mykonos). Whatever you decide to do, it will make you happy.

Xerokampos, Crete

Crete is a dream destination for energetic couples. There is so much to discover, from amazing mountains and canyons that beg to be explored to a variety of bustling beach towns. The scenery is breathtakingly charming, and the coastline is home to secret coves and beautiful beaches that are ideal for a day of undisturbed leisure. Additionally well-known is Crete’s intriguing past. You can still see the remains of ancient civilizations all across the island. Visits to the Minoan palaces of Knossos, Phaistos, and Malia are worthwhile as spending an unforgettable evening with your significant other watching the sunset over a historic site. Go on a unique day trip to the stunning island of Spinalonga for a tranquil afternoon of exploration.

Why Crete is perfect for young couples?

Everything is available in Crete. Crete is, without a doubt, the largest and possibly the most well-known of all the Greek Islands. Expect historical forts, magnificent scenery, and delicious food when visiting Crete. You won’t regret visiting the lovely island if you and your significant other are both passionate foodies. After you have satiated your appetite (don’t forget to sample Dakos, Kaltsounia, and the delicious cheeses), be sure to visit Spinaloga, a little but intriguing island situated close to Crete. Even though Spinaloga is small, it has a rich history, visiting there one of the greatest things to do in Crete.

hydra island

In contrast to the other Greek Islands featured here, Hydra is a stunning island that is part of the Saronic Islands group in the Aegean Sea. The island is ideal if you’re seeking a romantic Greek Island escape from Athens because it’s only a two-hour ferry ride away. There are no white-washed settlements on Hydra. Instead, you’ll find brightly colored homes with orange roofs that bring to mind Italy or Portugal. The island is a treasure trove of buildings, activity, and history. On Hydra, there are a few beaches that are mostly made of pebbles but have stunning turquoise waters for swimming. One of the best Greek Islands for couples seeking some peace and a place to disengage from the outside world while away from the busy highways and streets of their regular lives is Hydra. The island is still small, though, making it one of the suggested Greek Island vacations that are ideal for a few days (somewhere around 3-4 days).

Why Hydra is perfect for young couples

The magnificent island of Hydra is conveniently situated close to Athens. It has stunning beaches including Agios Nikolaos, Bitsi, and Vlichos that are ideal for unwinding and sunbathing with a special someone. The town itself is made up of exquisite stone mansions and is built around a hill, making it incredibly charming. Explore the town at dusk to enjoy Hydra’s romantic ambiance. Because there are no cars or other motorized vehicles on the island, all transportation must be done by foot, boat, or donkey.

Beautiful panoramic view of Assos village with vivid colorful houses near blue turquoise colored and transparent bay lagoon. Kefalonia, Greece

Kefalonia , arguably the best of the Ionian islands, is a lovely green wonderland that will enchant you with its past, aromas, and surroundings. Beautiful Kefalonia in Greece is ideal for outdoor loving couples . Numerous unspoiled beaches, hiking routes, and stunning cliffside vistas can be found on the island. Visitors to this magnificent Greek island will be treated to Myrtos Beach, one of the nicest beaches in the entire group of Greek islands. You won’t run out of things to do since Kefalonia is a sizable island. The island is home to some of Greece’s most picturesque settlements. With its brightly colored homes, cozy tavernas, and an excellent short hike to the top of the connecting island, Assos is especially lovely . You ought to go to the well-known Myrtos beach as well. Before you go to the beach to unwind on the warm sand or cool down in the clear waves, make sure you take in the views looking over the beach. Go to Fiskardo, a boutique town, if you want luxury. From upscale restaurants, you may watch yachts pass by or rent a boat to explore the coast’s secret coves.

Why is Kefalonia perfect for young couples?

Kefalonia is a romantic destination; it served as the backdrop for the turbulent love story Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, which was made into a movie starring Penélope Cruz. It has long been the preferred location for honeymooners looking for a more sedate area of the Greek isles to eat, drink, and explore at their leisure. Unlike its sibling islands, this lovely Greek island has a distinctive appearance. It feels as though you have been transported to a lush green paradise with beautiful colorful villages, palm trees, and beaches that are surrounded by high volcanic cliffs! In Kefalonia, there are plenty of things to do! The island is also home to stunning white-sand beaches and breathtaking caves that resemble Mexican cenotes. If you’re looking for a break in the Greece Islands, Kefalonia is a real jewel.

Navagio beach at Zakynthos island in Greece

Although many would contend that Santorini is the ideal Greek island for couples, you should also take into account the tiny island of Zakynthos. You can be sure that your better half will be happy with everything this small island has to offer because it is well known for its crystal-clear sea and immaculate sandy beaches. The mix of mouthwatering Greek cuisine and charming small towns will keep you on the island for the duration of your vacation. You two can dance the night away if you want to because Zakynthos is also regarded as a party destination for the younger crowd. Spend some time at the Navagio Shipwreck as well, and keep an eye out for the Caretta-Caretta turtles, which utilize the island as a breeding ground.

Why is Zakynthos perfect for young couples?

Zakynthos will be great for you if the ideal Greek island for your romantic getaway is made up of crystal-clear waters, immaculate sandy beaches, and magnificent surroundings. Because it is much smaller than Santorini, the island is a fantastic option for couples looking to get away from the crowds. But Zakynthos is also renowned for its exciting nightlife, so you may party all night long before spending the next day relaxing on the beach. Additionally, the island is home to several authentic Greek restaurants where you may sample some delectable cuisine.

Final thoughts

The Greek islands are the ideal location for a young couples since they have gorgeous beaches, charming whitewashed villages, and opulent hotels. Additionally, you’ll enjoy stunning sunsets, friendly inhabitants, and an interesting past. Here, you can learn about old myths and tales and contribute your love tale to the annals of Greek history.

One region can have an entirely different character from the next due to Spain’s long and illustrious history of Catholic monarchy, Muslim caliphates, and New World conquistadors. Here is the list of the best Spanish vacation spots for young adults that will be covered in this post.

Table of Contents

Barcelona

Barcelona, located on Spain’s breathtaking Catalonian coast, is a must-see for everyone doing their first-ever backpacking trip through Europe .

The old city core is filled with some of the most incredible artwork, museums, and architectural wonders in the entire world. Specifically, the creations of local architect Antoni Gaudi, who constructed Park Güell and La Sagrada Familia.

Barcelona has a vibrant nightlife in addition to the top Spain attractions. There is a sizable club scene with practically infinite possibilities that can entice all different kinds of partygoers.

In conclusion, if you only have time for one Spanish city, choose Barcelona. With this list of the top things to do in Barcelona, start your planning right away.

El Retiro, Madrid, Spain

Now let’s go on to Central Spain and talk about Madrid. The largest metropolis and capital of Spain is home to several upscale shopping districts and has a more than 2,000-year history.

It’s the largest city in terms of population, the capital of the nation, and one of the top destinations for travelers in Europe. Madrid is therefore another essential stop on your list of Spain destinations.

In Madrid, there are many lovely places to see and exciting activities to do. Don’t skip exploring Plaza Mayor and San Miguel Market.

When visiting Madrid, you don’t even need to have a destination because the city is so beautiful. Even just getting to know the local areas, eateries, and exciting nightlife is an adventure.

Valencia

Valencia is one of the most well-known cities in Spain, featuring a tonne of shopping, dining, and art attractions. Spain is home to some delectable cuisine, but if you’re craving a steamy bowl of paella, you must travel to Valencia, the city where it was first made.

About 3.5 hours south of Barcelona, in eastern Spain, is the city of Valencia. making it simple to incorporate two amazing places into a single trip to Spain.

There are several locations to buy clothes in Valencia (or ten). like Carrer de Colón, a posh shopping district. Then stop into Valencia’s Central Market for a snack.

Ronda

This relaxed Spanish village offers hiking trails and rock climbing areas as well as breathtaking views. The southern Spanish city of Ronda is home to some of Spain’s most magnificent natural scenery. There are ten or more different large miradors.

The enormous Puente Nuevo bridge is Ronda’s main draw, but there are also a surprising number of other things to do in this tiny city. Visit Alameda del Tajo to get a taste of the local scenery. At the Royal Cavalry’s Bullring, discover a local custom. Visit the historical bathhouse at Yacimiento.

Alternatively, you may just relax and do nothing. It’s a laid-back alpine hamlet with an abundance of charm and a generally cozy atmosphere that’s ideal for couples. Ronda is lovely even if all you do is take in the scenery and sample the regional cuisine.

Cadiz

The southern coastal city of Cadiz is home to some of Spain’s top beaches and thought-provoking historical landmarks. There are several historical sites to explore in Cadiz, including the Yacimiento Arqueológico Gadir and the Cadiz Museum.

The city boasts a variety of beaches to select from and a tonne of vistas to get a better sense of the place, in addition to local history.

If you want a city in Andalusia with all the charm of southern Spain but want something a little quieter than Seville, Cadiz is ideal. As an alternative, it is a simple train ride away and makes for a great day excursion.

Frigiliana

One of the best destinations in Spain for those seeking solitude is Frigiliana. When you want to go on vacation and have it feel like a different reality.

The white village of Frigiliana, which is only 15 minutes outside of Nerja and close to the southern shore, has a pristine mountain town feel.

Frigiliana doesn’t have as many renowned historical sites or sizable museums as some of the larger cities. You won’t require them, though. While exploring the little alleys, artisanal stores, and view-centric eateries, the hours can fly by.

Nerja

The gorgeous coastal city of Nerja is close to Frigiliana. Nerja is surrounded by a lot of breathtaking natural beauty, particularly its breathtaking beaches , similar to Playa Burriana. Although you could kayaking in the sea or lie on Nerja’s beaches all day, there are other things to do.

Many walks will take you through untouched nature, such as Rio Chillar and the Cliffs of Maro-Cerro Gordo. After exploring Nerja’s natural wonders, you can replenish your energy with food or a drink at one of the city’s many outstanding restaurants.

Zaragoza

Home to one of Spain’s most impressive basilicas, this Basque country city is a hub for Roman ruins. Northeastern Spain’s capital city of Aragon, Zaragoza, is awash in Roman-era landmarks. You can truly sense the city’s rich history in the Old Town.

Adorable cafes and hip restaurants fill the city’s picturesque streets. Or, if a busy market is more your style, visit Zaragoza’s spectacular Central Market.

Bilbao

Let’s travel to Bilbao in Northern Spain, one of the best summer beach resorts in this part of the country. There are many beaches close to Bilbao, but Arrigunaga Beach is my favorite. The Guggenheim Museum, one of the most popular attractions in the country, is also located in Bilbao.

You will be impressed even only by the Guggenheim Museum’s exterior. You can find a wide variety of modern art within.

best islands to visit for young adults

Ibiza is a traveler’s tiny piece of heaven while looking for the best nightlife on earth. It’s the ideal location for partygoers and one of the best places to visit in spain for young adults.

Ibiza, one of the Balearic Islands, is home to some of Europe’s most exciting clubs, pubs, and events and is significant. June is the ideal month to travel to Spain to experience all of these events.

Ibiza, nevertheless, offers much more than just wild nightlife. The island is home to some of Spain’s top beaches, including Cala Saladeta and Cala Bassa.

Along with historical landmarks like the Ibiza Castle and breathtaking natural treasures like Cova de Can Marçà.

Panorama of Granada, Andalusia, Spain

One of the oldest cities in the Andalusia region is Granada, which is situated at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Casa de los Tiros and Cuarto Real are two locations in Granada’s Jewish Quarter, commonly known as The Realejo, where you may learn more about this long past.

An excursion to Granada is highly recommended for everyone who wishes to learn more about the history of this part of Spain. Not to mention how stunning the city itself is.

Cómpeta

One of the less well-known places in Spain is Cómpeta, which is famed for its winding alleyways. The magnificent Sierra Almijara mountain range is directly surrounding it. It is one of my favorite locations, though, for a short day trip.

Cómpeta is a genuinely modest village with a dearth of tourist hotspots. resulting in a calmer, more leisurely time outside on the Spanish mountainside. If you want to base yourself while touring all the adjacent white towns in Spain, here is the spot to do it.

León

León is perfectly located along the Santiago de Compostela in northwest Spain. The city offers tourists some breathtaking Spanish architecture.

The Santa Maria de Leon Cathedral is the town’s most noteworthy landmark. However, the city is home to several notable churches.

Therefore, León will be a blast for tourists who wish to experience this facet of Spanish culture. In addition, the city has many bustling plazas where you may unwind after exploring the streets.

Valladolid

You’ll discover that Valladolid is another excellent place to study Spain’s extensive history. Spain is a nation with a rich past. For example, Valladolid is very small but powerful.

There are numerous activities available, ranging from museums and plazas to riverfront beaches and well-kept parks, and it is only two hours north of Madrid. To experience typical Spanish attractions without the crowds of Spain’s major cities, Valladolid is a wonderful alternative.

Bolonia Beach

Bolonia is a stunning location in Spain. But this is more of a leisurely location. Do not anticipate late-night celebrations or a never-ending list of attractions. If you’re eager for a summer holiday, your first thought may be to travel to one of Spain’s most well-known beach resort areas.

However, I’d advise choosing one of the more undiscovered small beach villages. Bolonia, specifically, is a region on the Atlantic Ocean in Tarifa.

The epitome of a laid-back beach town is Bolonia. If a random fellow traveler hadn’t told me about it, I would have never known about it. Visitors can pick from several beaches in the seaside community. Bolonia Beach is the largest.

There aren’t many great bars or mouthwatering restaurants. If you ever need a history fix, there are also the Roman ruins at Baelo Claudia.

Mojacar

Mojacar is another place in Spain with gorgeous beaches . Again, because it’s a little less well-known, not many people will pay attention when they hear about this place. But one of the most well-known white villages in Andalusia is the lovely town and beach of Mojacar.

There are other reasons to adore Mojacar in addition to the beaches and breathtaking views strewn around the area. There are many locations to eat delicious meals.

Also there here are several options to play golf and take part in different water sports. Along with some of the greatest seafood in the area you can enjoy a real Spanish beach town in Mojacar.

Tarragona

Consider that you wish to experience both Spain’s historical and natural wonders. Travel to the Catalonian city of Tarragona.

Roman remnants from the period, such as the Tarragona Amphitheatre, a chariot track, and an old aqueduct are some of the best preserved in the city. In addition, there are tempting marketplaces, beaches, and shopping districts in the city’s Old Town.

There are enough activities to keep you busy for a few days while you come to know Tarragona. However, it takes a little over an hour to go from Barcelona to Tarragona.

So, if you’re on a tight schedule, you may easily see everything the historic seaside city has to offer during a day trip.

San Sebastian

Houses in Row near Ocean San Sebastian

The northern Spanish city of San Sebastian offers a variety of attractions to offer tourists. Beautiful beaches, expansive scenery, and vibrant nightlife. However, San Sebastian is best recognized for its mouthwatering cuisine. In this port city, 24 Michelin-starred restaurants are serving a variety of cuisines.

You can locate some of the best meals you’ve ever had by simply wandering about the city’s Old Town. As you might expect, foodies appreciate San Sebastian and all of its delectable culinary options.

Canary Islands

Canary Islands

Due to their southernmost location, Spain’s Canary Islands boast some of the greatest weather in all of Europe. There will nearly always be mild temperatures and plenty of sunny days. Beautiful beaches and stunning scenery may be found in the Canary Islands.

You’ll understand why it’s one of the most popular Spanish holiday spots once you’ve seen the otherworldly island for yourself.

Spain is a must-stop on many travelers’ European vacation itineraries due to its vibrant metropolises and there are lot of best places to visit for young adults and stunning beaches, and diverse cultural attractions. It may be difficult to choose which cities are worth visiting because there are so many diverse locations, each with its famed sites and distinctive hidden jewels.
