The offline permit processing may take typically 2 to 6 hours depending on the season and the rush at the immigration office in Phuentsholing. In the meanwhile complete your lunch and once permit is processed, start for Thimphu - the capital of Bhutan. From Phuentsholing to Thimphu it takes almost 4.5 hrs to reach by car. *** If you already processed the online permits, proceed towards the Bhutan Gate post to complete the biometric process and now you can proceed towards the Thimphu City. Once you procure the online permit, you can complete these biometric procedures in maximum 1 hr of time. Reach Thimphu and check in at the hotel in the afternoon / evening. DAY 3 : FULL DAY THIMPHU SIGHTSEEING

The National Memorial Chorten - Also known as Thimphu Chorten is a site for evening prayer. The chorten was build in the third King memory, and it was continuously circumambulated by people, murmuring mantras and spinning their prayer wheels. The idea to construct this landmark was proposed by Bhutan third King, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuk (the father of modern Bhutan), who has wished to erect a monument to the World for peace and prosperity. Completed in 1974 after Majesty's untimely death, it served as a memorial to the late King and a monument of peace.

The Clock Tower - Located at the centre of the Thimphu Town, the Clock Tower Square is an architectural wonder one can behold during Bhutan package tour . This tower differs from every other construction or building in Bhutan. It is basically a tower with four clock faces in four directions. The tower depicts of Bhutanese architecture pattern which is basically painted or engraved on wood. The tower is decorated with many intricately carved floral patterns, paintings, and replica of dragons. The dragons on the tower are facing each clock in the tower, which is interesting to look at. Changangkha Lhakhang - At Thimphu, you will come across several monasteries and temples, but Changangkha Lhakhang is the most important religious structure amongst all. The fabric is dedicated to Avalokiteshvara, a sign of compassion dating back to the 15th century, the oldest in the region, and from here, enjoy the grand view of Thimphu valley.

Takin Zoo - In here, you will find the National animal of Bhutan, "Takin". Takin is one of the most endangered species of the World, and it is available only in Bhutan, preserved in open habitat.

Trashi Chhoe Dzong - Or the Fortress of the Glorious Region is another 'must visit' site on a Bhutan Tour . Situated on the west bank of Wang Chhu River, the Trashi Chhoe Dzong is the formal coronation site of the fifth King that hosts the annual Tsechu festival . This Dzong was built in the year 1641 by the political and religious unifier of Bhutan, Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, later it was reconstructed in the 1960s in a traditional Bhutanese manner, without the use of nails or architectural plans. Punakha Dzong : Also known as " The Palace of Great Happiness ", Punakha Dzong is located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu (father) and Mo Chhu (mother) rivers in the Punakha–Wangdue valley. This Dzong is the most picturesque of all Bhutan ancient fortresses and it joins the mainland by an arched wooden bridge that contains many precious relics from the days when successive kings reigned the Kingdom from this Punakha valley. Suspension Bridge : - This hidden treasure in the Punakha Valley connects the rest of the valley to the old administrative center of Punakha Dzongkhag. The whole deck is covered with prayer flags and provides a perfect spot for bird watching and photography. Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple) : Stationed at the top of a hillock, the Chimi Lhakhang is a site dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kuenley. Known as the 'Divine Madman,' Lama Drukpa Kuenley is said to use songs, humor, and outrageous behavior to preach his teachings. Chimi Lhakhang temple is believed to be the temple of fertility, and the Bhutanese hold a strong belief that childless couples are blessed by Lama Drukpa Kuenley if they visit the temple and pray for a child. The road to the temple follows a picturesque rural trail through the paddy field that takes visitors to the temple from the road, and after crossing the paddy field, you will find a tiny stream from where Chimi Lhakhang is just a short climb away. DAY 5 : PUNAKHA TO PARO TRANSFER & LOCAL SIGHTSEEING [3 HR 8 MIN / 115.2 KM]

In the morning, after breakfast, start for Paro Trip and enroute visit : National Museum of Bhutan : Situated right above Rinpung Dzong in Paro, the National Museum of Bhutan is a house that showcases Bhutan's culture. Built in 1968, the museum stands inside the ancient Ta-dzong building. The museum houses the collection of finest specimens of Bhutanese culture and art and its highlights are paintings and some bronze statues, which are simply masterpieces. The items are demonstrated in large galleries and you can get to know a lot about Bhutan's art and culture from these objects. Drukgyal Dzong : Drukgyal Dzong was a fortress and Buddhist Monastery, now in ruins, located in the upper part of the Paro Valley in Paro District of Bhutan. The Dzong was probably built by Tenzin Drukdra in 1649 at the behest of Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to commemorate victory over an invasion from Tibet. Closed as of Now. Ta Dzong : Ta Dzong, once a watchtower, built to defend Rinpung Dzong during inter-valley wars of the 17th century, Ta Dzong was inaugurated as Bhutan's National Museum in 1968. Rinpung Dzong : Built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the first spiritual and temporal ruler of Bhutan, the Dzong houses the monastic body of Paro, the office of the Dzongda (district administrative head) and Thrimpon (judge) of Paro district. The approach to the Dzong is through a traditional covered bridge called Nemi Zam. Nya Mey Zam Bridge : "The Bridge with No Fish" is the bridge that connects Paro Town to Dzong. It is one of finest specimens in Bhutan and local believes if one sees a fish in the river, it is ill omen. The earlier bridge which could be folded during war was washed away by flood in 1969. Paro Airport View Point : This is finest valley view point to look after Paro Valley and Paro Airport. This view point overlooking the Paro river along with the all the Dzongs and Monastry. Day 01: Arrival in Paro to Thimphu (1.5 hrs drive) Fly on the wings of the Dragon to Bhutan, on arrival in Paro International Airport, complete the immigration formalities and exit through only one arrival gate where HBT dedicated team who will be holding placard, no one will be missed. We welcome with khaddar and proceed to Thimphu which will take about an hour and half. The route will follow Paro River until Chuzom from where we will bend towards Thimphu river taking us to the heart of capital city Thimphu. The entire stretch of drives is very scenic and picturesque as we pass by some of the beautiful villages of Bondey, Shaba, Isina etc until we enter welcome gate in Thimphu. Tachongang Lhakhang- En-route to Thimphu, stopover for little leg stretch walk crossing Paro River or enjoy the views from the roadside depending your arrival time. Chuzom- Meeting point of two rivers (Thimphu & Paro) this is tri junction of highway leading to Thimphu, Paro and Phuentsholing into three directions. Day 02: Thimphu Sightseeing Thimphu- This bustling little city is the main centre of commerce, religion and government in the country. Thimphu is the most modern city with an abundance of restaurants, internet cafes, nightclubs and shopping centers. However it still retains its cultural identity and values amidst the signs of modernization, often referred as world only city without traffic lights. Buddha Dordenma- The Buddha Dordenma is located at a top of the hill in Kuensel Phodrang Nature Park and overlooks the southern entrance to Thimphu valley. The Buddha Dordenma is a gigantic 51.5-meter tall statue, making it one of the largest statues of Buddha in the world. Arts and Crafts Vocational School- Arts and Craft School is where student learn 13 different techniques to master in Bhutanese Arts. Some of the skills required eight years to graduate. You can see live carving, painting, sculpture etc. You are allowed to take the pictures/make video. Products made by students are on display at the showroom for sales as well. The school is closed in July and December to February, beside their exams and events. Folk Heritage Museum- This museum was established in 2001 and provides visitors with fascinating insights into the Bhutanese material culture and way of life, especially the life of Bhutanese in remote parts of Bhutan. Authentic Bhutanese Crafts Bazaar- Bhutan’s first ever craft bazaar located behind Hotel Taj Tashi showcases wide range of authentic Bhutan-made arts and craft products with reasonable price range. Handicraft Emporium- Realizing the importance of socio-economic growth, handicraft emporium was set up with the command of His Majesty 3 rd King, this was the first step to showcase the authentic Bhutanese handicraft products in Bhutan. Day 03: Thimphu to Punakha (2 hrs drive) Start the most scenic drive to Punakha from Thimphu over dochula pass which takes about two hours.  After the break at Dochula, the road descends into Wangdue and Punakha taking us to one of the warmest places of Bhutan. Dochula Pass- The pass is at a popular location as it offers a stunning 180 degree panoramic view of the Great Himalayan mountain ranges. The view is especially scenic and very clear on winter days with snowcapped mountains forming a majestic backdrop to the tranquility of the 108 chortens gracing the mountain pass. Lamperi Botanical Park- The park has many varieties of plants, herbs, birds and animals. This park is one of the must visit place for birds and nature lovers. You may enjoy the hot packed lunch here if you had planned picnic. Punakha Dzong- Built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the Dzong was named Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang (Palace of Great Happiness). Punakha is still the winter residence of Je-Khenpo religious head of Bhutan. King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck convened the first National Assembly here in 1952. This is one of the finest and must see Dzongs of Bhutan. The Dzong stands in between meeting point of two rivers, Phochu and Mochu making the most photogenic Dzongs of Bhutan. Punakha Suspension Bridge- Punakha suspension bridge is considered one of the longest of its kind in Bhutan. The bridge connects the dzong with the villages Shengana, Samdingkha and Wangkha on the other bank of the Po Chhu river. In these small villages, locals sell their wares in tiny, traditional shops. Visitors can stop here for a quick and authentic view of true Bhutan. The suspension bridge is only about 15 minutes’ walk from Punakha Dzong. Overnight in Punakha, altitude 1350m

Day 04: Punakha to Phobjikha (3 hrs drive) The road to Phobjikha passes through old town of Wangdue taking us through the black mountain region into Gangtey. The drive also passes through some of the most beautiful forests, water fall, hills, river and villages and Pelela pass before stepping into Phobjikha. Enjoy the most scenic and adventurous drive today with HBT. Gangtey Gompa- The temple built over hill top, headed by Gangtey Tulku the reincarnation of Pema Lingpa. Annual festival of Gangtey is performed in the temple courtyard every year. This is also the place for black necked crane’s festival held every year on 11-Nov, coinciding with His Majesty’s Fourth King’s Birthday. Gangtey Nature Trail- It is a short and relatively easy trek with several beautiful villages and monasteries en route. It offers beautiful views of the country with mostly gentle, forested slopes. All-time best trail and it takes approx. 2 hours, the trails ends at the road next to Khewang Lhakhang. Black Necked Crane Information Centre- This place is run by the Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN) and has an observation room with high-power telescopes and good scope for spotting the famous Black Necked Cranes which migrates to the region during winter. Day 05: Phobjikha to Paro (5 hrs drive) As we say good bye to the Asian Switzerland, we will retrace the journey back to Thimphu crossing over Pelela, Wangdue, Dochula, up until Chuzom and further to Paro. The entire stretch of drive will refresh your mind and give you second chance to enjoy the great snowcapped mountain views of the Himalayas. Day 06: Paro Sightseeing Home to Bhutan’s only international airport. Paro is also one of the most fertile valleys in the Kingdom producing a bulk of the locally famous red rice from its terraced fields. Blessed with beautiful weathers throughout the year and world famous and most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage Taktsang is located in Paro. Chele La Pass – Highest motor-able road pass connecting two districts Paro and Haa, an elevation of 3988m above the sea level. On clear days, one can enjoy view of the most sacred Mt. Jomolhari (7314m). The pass is dotted with beautiful prayer flags and offers amazing walks around, worth a visit while in Bhutan. You can also plan to ride mountain biking from Pass to Paro valley with the stretch of 36-48km, mostly downhill and easy ride. Dzongdrakha Goemba – Temple is situated on the western region of Paro Valley on the Cliffside and often referred as “Mini Taktsang” of Bhutan. Tucked in a cliff above Bondey village, visit to temple offers pictorial hikes and one of the must visit places in Paro for inquisitive guests while in Paro. Rinpung Dzong- ‘Fortress on a Heap of Jewels’, is ranked one of the best Bhutanese architecture. Day 07: Paro Sightseeing This picturesque region in the kingdom is covered in fertile rice fields and has a beautiful, crystalline river meandering down the valley. Paro has more of historical sites, high-end tourist resort and many souvenir shops for shopping including world famous Takstang. Taktsang/Tiger’s Nest Temple – is Bhutan’s most iconic landmark and religious Buddhist site in the world. The name Taktsang translates to “The Tiger’s Nest”. The temple is one of the holiest sites in Bhutan which clings impossibly to a sheer cliff face 900 meters above the valley. Although good trekkers can make it to the top in two hours, most of the guests take whole day to complete the hike. The Best Time to Visit Bhutan

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best seasons to visit the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan. In spring, the temperatures range between 3°C to 25°C, while in autumn they hover between 10°C to 23°C. Even with the wild variations in temperatures, these two are the best seasons to be in Bhutan, because it doesn’t rain. Bhutan receives most of its rainfall during summer and it snows during winter. How to Reach Bhutan

You can reach Bhutan  by air and road from India. There is no direct rail connectivity. The fastest way to reach Bhutan is by air. Though Bhutan has many domestic airports, Paro International Airport is the sole gateway into Bhutan by air from outside. Druk Air, Bhutan’s national airline, operates regular flights from Kolkata, Bagdogra, Guwahati, Gaya, Delhi and Mumbai. Among these only Kolkata enjoys direct connectivity to Paro. The rest all offer connecting flights. Kolkata also has the most frequent of flights.

A road trip into Bhutan is the most popular way to get into the country. You have a choice of 3 points of entry into Bhutan from India:

• Samdrup Jongkhar

Out of these, The Jaigaon - Phuentsholing border is by far the most popular option. It is the most easily accessible border crossing, and this is also where you get the entry permit quite easily. All Indian citizens travelling to Bhutan must obtain an ‘Entry Permit’ from the Immigration Office of the Royal Government of Bhutan. This entry permit will allow you to explore Paro and Thimphu only. To venture further into the country, you must get a ‘Special Area Permit’ from the Royal Government of Bhutan Immigration Office located in Thimphu.

You can either drive yourself, hire a taxi or hop on to a bus. Private taxis and buses are available from Bagdogra, New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri and Kolkata. At 18 hours, Kolkata to Phuentsholing is the longest bus journey while it takes around 4 hours from Bagdogra and Siliguri.

Tiger’s Nest Monastery:

This is, without a doubt, the most iconic and the holiest place to visit in Bhutan. It is the sacred monastery of the Guru Rinpoche and is a place of pilgrimage for the locals. Legends say that Guru Rinpoche rode a tiger to this location and spent three months in meditation. Hugging the cliff face above the Paro Valley, it offers a stunning panorama of the surroundings. A standard entry permit allows you access to this beautiful monastery. The cave temple inside the monastery is one of the attractions here, along with the spectacular views.

Punakha Dzong:

The second-largest Dzong (fortress) in Bhutan is home to almost all the national treasure of the country. Built between 1637 and 1638, it is also the second oldest building in Bhutan. It is also the final resting place for the sacred remains of Ngawang Namgyal and the tetrön Pema Lingpa. The fort itself is a wonder of architecture as it doesn’t use a single nail in its construction. The sacred relics of the Southern Drukpa Lineage and a sizeable collection of intricate paintings are worth your time.

National Museum of Bhutan:

The National Museum of Bhutan is a treasure trove of the country’s rich history. It chronicles more than 1,500 years of Bhutan’s culture in about 3,000 exhibits. From ancient sculptures to modern paintings, it is all there. The natural history section catalogues all the flora, fauna and wildlife of the region. Red Rice - A Local Staple:

Red rice is a medium-grain variety of rice that finds its way into the daily diet of most of Bhutan. Grown mostly in the Paro region, it is nurtured by the mineral-rich glacier water. But it is the ginger that gives Jasha Maru its soul. Usually served with generous helpings of chicken broth, the poultry may be replaced by other meats in some other variations of this flavourful dish. Zow Shungo - A Quick Meal:

The Zow Shungo is a proud proponent of the Bhutanese philosophy of avoiding needless waste.
