What we say...

Cobra golf’s king tour, cb and mb irons use an industry-leading forging process to deliver consistent clubs with an unmatched soft feel and precision shaping for better players..

The family of players’ irons sees a traditional forged muscleback in the King MB, a compact muscle cavity back in the CB, and a technical cavity back in the King Tour to ensure there’s a club for all types of better golfer – all three feature highly in our guide to the best golf irons .

The three irons were launched alongside Cobra’s King Tec Utility Iron and King Tec Hybrid , ensuring every golfer’s needs are covered.

Cobra King, MB and CB irons.

Cobra King Irons: The 5-Step Forging Process

Made from 1025 carbon steel, Cobra’s irons go through an additional forging step when compared to many other manufacturers, which they say allows them to produce more precise forged golf irons .

The forging process for all three King irons begins by heating carbon steel billets to 1,200ºC, before the billets are rough forged three times. These first three steps see the metal bent and forged to form the rough shaping of an iron head.

The first three stages of Cobra's 5-Step Forging process.

Step four sees 1,200 tons of pressure applied at 800ºC to each rough clubhead, refining the shapes and placing detail lines and logos.

The fourth stage of Cobra's 5-Step Forging process.

The fifth and final step sees each iron head subjected to 2,000 tons of pressure at 700ºC to form a uniform and isotropic internal grain structure. Once cooled, the clubheads are then polished and prepped for the faces and grooves to be precision milled using a CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) machine.

The fifth stage of Cobra's 5-Step Forging process.

But what does the five-step process provide that four-step methods don’t? Cobra say it creates more precise shaping, more precise and flatter clubfaces, tighter weight tolerances, improved consistency of loft and lies, improved face thickness consistency, improved aesthetics, and significantly enhanced feel at impact.

According to Cobra’s research, feel is the most important characteristic that better players (Tour to seven handicaps) look for in their irons (28%), followed by distance (21%), forgiveness (18%), control (16%), and ease-to-hit (13%).

The three irons complete an impressive King family that also includes the King Forged Tec and Forged Tec-X irons and the new King Tec Utility Iron and Hybrid.

Ewen Ferguson will use the Cobra King CB and MB irons.

Cobra King Irons: How the three models differ

All three of the new players’ irons target the more advanced golfer and you’ll see them in bags of Rickie Fowler, Gary Woodland and Ewen Ferguson in 2023.

The Cobra King CB and MB irons have been designed to work as a ‘flow combo’ set, with the stock set coming with CB 4-6-irons and MB in 7-PW. That set makeup provides more forgiveness in the longer irons and more precision in the shorter irons.

They feature the most compact shapes in the King family and have all the attributes a better player seeks – thinner toplines, minimal offset, thinner soles, and shorter blade lengths. The forging process ensures the CB and MB feature perfectly centered CG locations without the need for additional Tungsten.

See why the Cobra King MB is one of the best blade golf clubs in our huge head-to-head test.

Cobra King MB iron.

Cobra say the CB iron, with its more forgiving cavity back shape with slightly more offset, and the traditional MB muscle back, offer players a variety of customizable set configurations to fit their gapping and aesthetic preferences.

Both the CB and MB are available as full sets in 3i-GW through custom fitting.

Cobra King Tour iron.

The King Tour blends soft feel and playability with enhanced distance and forgiveness. Unlike the CB and MB irons which are one-piece forgings, the Tour irons feature an aluminum medallion, and a TPU insert in the back cavity but still have a solid feel.

The Cobra King Tour iron.

CNC undercuts in the back cavity of each iron allow weight to be repositioned from high center to lower center and heel and toe areas of the clubhead, creating improved launch conditions and more forgiveness on off-center hits.

These cavities progress from deeper in the long irons for enhanced stability, to shallower in the short irons for enhanced control.  To improve feel, each CNC undercut is filled with a soft TPU material and topped with an aluminum co-molded medallion, which both damp vibration for a more pleasing sound and feel at impact.

Rickie Fowler will use the Cobra King Tour irons.

The shaping of the Tour irons is progressively more compact than the King Forged TEC model, featuring a thinner topline, and reduced offset. The updated Tour shape also features a slightly shortened blade length than the previous King Tour MIM irons to inspire improved control and workability.

The Tour irons, which have a satin nickel chrome finish, have two-degree stronger lofts than the CB and MB irons for more distance. The stock set includes seven irons (4-PW), but a 3-iron and Gap Wedge are also available.

The Cobra King Tour’s looks, feel and performance make it a strong choice among our pick of the best players’ irons in golf.

Verdict: Cobra King Tour iron (2023)

It was a seriously long time before the King Tour that a Cobra iron last bagged top honors in a TG players’ iron test. But the simple, elegant Tour is so good I feel it’s now worthy of featuring among our top 10 players’ iron for the second year in a row. The King Tour has helped nurse Rickie Fowler’s game back into shape and it’s the sort of model the brand hasn’t really offered for a few years.

The five-times forged heads feel super soft. There’s a tiny bit of tech built-in with variable depth milled pockets in the shallow cavity backs, which add a fraction more playability on the long irons and increased flight control on the scoring clubs. Like any good players’ iron, the head shape is really attractive, there are no awkward areas that unduly draw the eye, making this an understated model for decent players who are happy to let their golf do the talking.

The Cobra King Tour Iron cavity back detail and shape at address

Data tends to be less important within the players’ category, as decisions are more often made on subjectives like sound, feel, and looks. The Tour did itself no harm though by producing an above-average carry distance for the category, while other metrics stuck stubbornly around the average mark.

As the King Tour enters its second year I feel it’s still got a lot to offer as Cobra is now a proper player within the forged iron market. The Tour sits alongside the King MB blade and tour-level King CB plus there’s a hollow body Forged Tec and Forged Tec X, all of which can be dialed in individually to create your own perfect combo set.

If you’re considering forged irons in 2024 Cobra’s cracking line-up deserves to be checked out.

Data comparison: How does the Cobra King Tour compare to leading competitor players’ irons in 2024?

The five irons in the Cobra King family.

Which Cobra King iron is right for me?

With five irons in the Cobra King family, there are models to suit everyone from Tour stars like Rickie Fowler to 20-handicappers.

The King MB and CB are for better players playing off three and below, while the King Tour will suit everyone from seven-handicappers to Tour players.

The King Forged Tec is more suited single-figure players (0-10), with the Forged Tec-X for the mid-handicap player (10-20).

Beyond that, and outside of the King family, Cobra’s new AeroJet iron targets the 10-25-handicap market.

What Cobra say about the new King irons

“The five-step forging process is critical to both the feel produced at impact by each of our new King irons as well the consistency of performance,” said Tom Olsavsky, Vice President of R&D for Cobra Golf.

“Players who desire the feel of forged want a soft sensation at impact rather than one that’s overly crisp, and our process delivers the desired sensation. But forgings can also be lacking in consistency due to the challenges involved in the forging process, all of which we’ve improved on by creating forged irons with superior precision from clubhead to clubhead.

“Players who favor forged irons now have the option to enjoy all the benefits of a forging with the consistency normally associated with cast products.”

Cobra King Tour Iron Review

For the low handicapper, this is one of the best all-round packages we’ve tested this year. Some may hit the ball too far versus their traditionally lofted set, but the forgiveness and consistency on offer in such a compact, elegant package is noteworthy.

Cobra is well and truly back among the best golf irons for 2023 with three King models, the MB, CB and Tour, all offering something a little different for the better player. The most playable of which is the King Tour, which the brand says is aimed at 7-handicappers right down to tour players, proven by the fact that Rickie Fowler has a set in the bag. This versatility has helped this iron earn a place in our 2023 Editor's Choice .

VIDEO:  Joel Tadman tests and compares the leading low handicap irons in 2023

The King Tour has a 1025c forged body and a CNC Milled undercut, which removes weight from the center and repositions it to the heel and toe. You’ll also see the TPU insert, which dampens vibrations, helped by an aluminium co-molded medallion on the back. Visually, this iron is a stunner. It manages to be both relatively understated while offering plenty of shelf appeal, which is no mean feat.

The clean lines and classic profile really suits the eye at address and the slightly larger dimensions means it inspires a little more confidence than most tour-played irons without looking chunky. Versus the King Tour MIM it replaces, the new King Tour has a shorter blade length and is a little stronger in loft - 32° in the 7-iron versus 34 in the prior model.

Cobra King Tour Iron address

So I was expecting this iron to go a little further and it delivered during testing, indoors on the Foresight Sports GCQuad launch monitor with Titleist Pro V1x golf balls . The feel off the face is livelier than most compact cavity back irons married with a dense, soft feel at impact. Carries were consistently hovering around the 168-yard mark and with good accuracy too. Once I got my bearings, I was able to hit repeatable shots with this club. I quite liked the ball flight too, it came out low with a healthy amount of spin, which gave me really good control of the trajectory as well as plenty of stopping power into firm greens.

Cobra King Tour Iron testing

Compared to the best irons for low handicappers , this iron offers high forgiveness levels. It was noticeably playable out on the course, producing ample carry when I caught shots a little thin and I was able to hit soft draws and fades without the ball curving too much when I didn’t execute the shot as planned. The margin for error on offer will please everyone but the extra distance will certainly appeal to good players that have seen the amount of time they’re able to dedicate to playing and practicing diminish.

2023 Cobra KING TOUR, MB and CB Irons

James Miles

You didn’t really think that Cobra Golf was done with the release of the new AEROJET lineup this week, did you? Not a chance, after all, you cannot forget the KING.

In a release which should garner a lot of excitement, Cobra is expanding their KING lineup of irons, bringing some siblings for their highly   touted KING Forged TEC and Forged TEC X irons. Yes, this is the year that Cobra is going deep on more compact players style irons, debuting the new KING TOUR, KING CB, and KING MB irons.

Anyone else excited?

Cobra King Tour

Cobra 5-Step Forging Process

When I found out that Cobra was finally going to not only release a new TOUR style technical cavity back iron this year, but also bring back the CB’s and MB’s, I will admit to letting my internet golfer excitement reach some pretty profound levels. Why exactly? Because historically, these are iron styles which Cobra has released some of the purest yet most technical irons in recent years, but there always seemed to be a sequence of alternating. Having three models hit in the same cycle is a golf nerd’s dream.

Cobra King Tour sets

While I will dive into each of the irons individually, the material side of things needs to be discussed first. Foremost, no, we are not seeing the return of MIM (metal injection molding) as was used on the last KING TOUR irons. Why? Well, that is a question for Cobra, but I believe it is two-fold in that the material, though durable and excellent feeling, was also tough to adjust and bend, something pretty important to more compact irons. So, a shift was made to 1025 Carbon Steel and a new  5-Step Forging Process  which Cobra is extremely excited about.

The three irons that make up the Cobra King Tour

Consistency is at the root of this new process for Cobra Golf. You see, cast irons are actually one of the most precise and consistent ways to produce a golf club because of how controlled and uniform things in the process can be. With that, Cobra has designed a system to take their forging to that level of consistency while keeping all of the benefits of forging. How is it different from other companies? Well, most of them use four steps, but here Cobra is implementing a fifth   forging strike.

Different iron shapes

For those unfamiliar, the forging process of a material like 1025 Carbon Steel starts at 1,200 degrees Celsius (that is 2,192 degrees Fahrenheit) and from there three forgings take place to get the material into the initial shaping, those are steps one through three for Cobra. From there, 2000 pounds of pressure is exerted onto the Carbon Steel at 800 degrees Celsius (1,472 degrees Fahrenheit) to take the clubhead to a refined shape including details and logos.

The three iron types

It is then that the fifth forging takes place under 2000 pounds of pressure at 700 degrees Celsius (1,292 degrees Fahrenheit) to not only lock in the shape, but to create the most uniform grain structure Cobra has ever had in a forged iron. At that point, polishing and CNC milling of the face and grooves takes place.

All of these steps culminate in a truly precision forged iron with painstaking focus on shaping, weight tolerances, and less variation in initial loft, lie, and bounce, as well flatness/thickness of the face. So, you see, you take all of the aforementioned steps times three for the new KING iron lineups, and Cobra is well beyond “all-in” on this segment of clubs.

2023 Cobra KING TOUR Irons

It makes the most sense to start with the most technical irons of the release, in fact, that is exactly   what Cobra is calling the KING TOUR irons, a  technical cavity back , and I admit that I love that description. While the forging process is   being used with these irons, unlike their siblings, the TOUR’s also use some badging in the cavity (aluminum and TPU). That is because the iron heads also have CNC milled undercuts in the cavities which are then filled with the TPU and capped with the aluminum badge.

the 2023 Cobra KING Tour

These undercuts are nothing new in club design, particularly irons of this profile, and they are highly effective at allowing the clubheads to be more efficient in how they launch and perform on misses. The weight which is removed via the undercut can then be repositioned to optimize the CG of the head to hit launch windows and parameters which Cobra wants to see. Taking it a step further, the depth at which they are milled varies on the club in the set with the undercut being deepest in the long irons and more shallow into the scoring clubs.

The 2023 Irons

Size wise, Cobra touts that these are notably smaller than the KING Forged TEC irons. The topline and offset are significantly reduced and the heel-to-toe blade length is actually more compact than the KING TOUR MIM irons were, which was one constant bit of feedback given about those irons by players like myself. Rounding it out, the lofts on the new KING TOUR irons are 2-degrees stronger than the CB/MB’s to provide more distance and take advantage of the launch provided by the design.

The Cobra King Tour irons

The KING TOUR irons will be available in 3-GW (RH/LH) with the standard stock setup being 4-PW (RH only, LH sets are custom order) and they will be paired with KBS $-Taper 120’s with Lamkin Crossline Grips.

2023 Cobra KING MB and CB Irons

Pure. Forged. Irons.

The return of the KING MB and CB irons is entirely as it should be with both sets being true one-piece forgings with no undercut or pocket milling. Both sets have undergone the new 5-Step Forging Process and as such are true precision irons that fall squarely into the better ball-strikers wheelhouse. If you are a golfer who demands workability with forged feedback, it is hard to imagine seeking out something which looks to accomplish that more than these two irons.

The KING CB irons

Both irons have a heavy focus on extremely thin toplines with minimal offset for precision shot making potential that put the onus on the person swinging the clubs. Unsurprisingly, the soles are much thinner than other models in Cobra’s lineup and they possess the shortest heel-to-toe blade lengths as well. Add in that the new forging process has allowed Cobra to perfectly center the CG without having to use tungsten to manipulate it, and you see why the word “precision” keeps coming up.

cobra king tour 2023 lofts

The MB is exactly what you would expect in a bladed iron from a demand standpoint, while the CB utilizes the forged cavity to add perimeter weighting and some playability. It is also worth noting that according to Cobra the CB does have a slight amount more offset, but it is minimal.

Blade in all its glory

Both the MB and CB will be available in full 3-GW sets (CB in RH/LH, MB in RH and 7-PW LH) as well as a stock flow setup with CB’s 4-6 and MB’s 7-PW. Additionally, through Cobra’s custom options you can create a one of a kind flow setup to fit your specific needs. The KING MB and CB irons will come paired with KBS $-Taper 120 shafts as standard and Lamkin Crossline grips.

The Details

You have seen the pictures now, and I’m betting that most would agree that these are quite possibly the most picturesque KING irons that Cobra Golf has ever produced. The irons will hit retail on 2/3/23 with the KING Tour at $1,299 (7-Piece) and KING MB/CB at $1,199 (7-Piece).

We would love to know your thoughts and feedback on the direction Cobra has taken their KING Tour and MB/CB lineups, so jump into the comments below or the THP Community as well!

COBRA Golf™ Introduces New King™ Line of Golf Clubs for 2023

More in news:.

COBRA Golf™ Introduces New King™ Tour and King™ CB/MB Players Irons

CARLSBAD, CA – COBRA Golf ™ , a leader in golf club innovation, unveiled today the new KING ™ TOUR and KING ™ CB and MB irons. Rounding out an impressive KING ™ family that also includes the KING ™ Forged Tec and Forged Tec-X irons, the new releases elevate the KING ™ family of players’ irons to a new level. Aimed at advanced players, a traditional forged muscle-back (KING ™ MB), compact muscle cavity back (KING ™ CB), and a technical cavity back model (KING ™ TOUR) cover the full spectrum of golfers who value feel, feedback, and shotshaping ability.

All three new models are crafted from 1025 carbon steel using COBRA ® ’s industry-leading 5-Step Forging Process. While other forged irons have traditionally used a four-step process, COBRA ® utilizes a fifth forging strike to deliver unmatched soft feel and precision shaping. The forging process begins by heating carbon steel billets to 1200-degree Celsius. The billets are then Rough Forged three times (steps 1-3), a process in which the metal is bent and forged to form the rough shaping of an iron head. Step Four involves applying 1200 tons of pressure at 800-degrees Celsius to each rough clubhead, refining the shapes and placing detail lines and logos. During the final fifth step, each iron head is subjected to 2000 tons of pressure at 700-degrees Celsius, forming an extremely uniform and isotropic internal grain structure. After cooling, each clubhead is polished and made ready for the faces and grooves to be precision milled using a CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) machine.

Benefits of COBRA ® ’s 5-Step Forging Process include: More precise shaping, more precise and flatter clubfaces, tighter weight tolerances, improved consistency of loft and lies, improved face thickness consistency, improved aesthetics, and significantly enhanced feel at impact.

The KING TOUR irons blend soft feel and playability with enhanced distance and forgiveness using a 5-step forged multi-material construction. Unlike the CB & MB irons which are one-piece forgings, the Tour irons feature an aluminum medallion, and a TPU insert in the back cavity. A key to the enhanced forgiveness and overall performance of COBRA ® ’s new TOUR iron are CNC undercuts in the back cavity of each iron, which allow weight to be repositioned from high center to lower center and heel and toe areas of the clubhead, creating improved launch conditions and more forgiveness on off center hits. These cavities progress from deeper in the long irons for enhanced stability, to shallower in the short irons for enhanced control. To improve feel, each CNC undercut is filled with a soft TPU material and topped with an alumninum co-molded medallion, which both damp vibration for a more pleasing sound and feel at impact. The shaping of the TOUR irons is progressively more compact than the KING ™ Forged TEC model, featuring a thinner topline, reduced offset. The updated Tour shape also features a slightly shortened blade length than the previous KING ™ Tour MIM Irons to inspire improved control and workability. The TOUR model also features 2 degree stronger lofts than the CB & MB irons to produce more explosive distance off the face. The TOUR irons are available in 3i-GW (RH/LH), with the stock set offered in 4-PW steel stiff, RH only. LH sets are available in custom. A Lamkin Crossline grip, and a KBS $-Taper 120 steel shaft in Stiff flex comes standard.

The KING ™ CB/MB irons feature the most compact shapes in the KING ™ lineup, and are built with attributes that better players typically desire including thinner toplines for aesthetics, minimal offset for control, thinner soles for precise turf interaction, and shorter blade lengths for enhanced shot-shaping ability. Due to the precision of the 5-Step Forging Process, the CB and MB irons feature perfectly centered CG locations without the need for added Tungsten to manipulate the CG. The CB irons, having a more forgiving cavity back shape with slightly more offset, and the traditional MB muscle back offer players a variety of customizeable set configurations to fit their gapping and aesthetic preferences. The stock set is available in a flow combo set that comes with the CB model in the 4-6 irons, and the MB model in the 7-PW (Steel Stiff, RH Only?). This unique set makeup allows more forgiveness in the longer irons, and more precision in the shorter irons. Both CB (Cavity Back) and MB (Muscle Back) models are available as full CB or MB sets in 3i-GW through custom (Full CB sets are available in RH & LH, while MB are available in RH & only 7-PW in LH). Lamkin Crossline grips and KBS $-Taper 120 steel shafts come standard.

All three new KING ™ irons will be available at cobragolf.com and at retail on February 3rd, 2023.

COBRA Golf™ Introduces Latest King™ Tec Utility Iron With Metalwood Face Technologies for More Ballspeed and Distance

CARLSBAD, CA – COBRA Golf ™ , a leader in golf club innovation, today introduced the new KING ™ TEC Utility iron. Packed with technology, the KING ™ TEC Utility is designed to provide added ball speed and distance from a wide variety of turf conditions for players who prefer an iron-like profile over a hybrid or fairway wood.

The KING ™ TEC Utility iron features a classic, muscle-back style iron shape that sits comfortably at address, with a relatively wide sole for improved turf interaction from a variety of turf conditions. A metal wood like construction yields powerful speed and distance through a hollow body design and a forged ST-118 PWRSHELL face insert with a longer return, internal speed channel and new H.O.T. Face technology. Developed using artificial intelligence, H.O.T. Face (which stands for “Highly Optimized Topology”) features multiple zones with optimized thicknesses that increase ball speed and produce more efficient spin across a larger area of the clubface, resulting in more consistent and reliable distances. For improved acoustics and feel at impact, the hollow clubhead is injected with an even lighter and softer Expancel Microsphere Foam, which is also used in the KING ™ Forged Tec & Tec X irons to absorb vibrations and tune sound and feel. In addition, the use of extreme Tungsten Weighting utilizing High Density MIM Tungsten Weights lowers the CG for improved launch and spin rates both off the tee and from the fairway or rough. Specifically, the 2-Utility contains 56g of Tungsten, while the 3-5 Utilities feature 61g of Tungsten. A ONE Length Tec Utility Iron configuration is also offered in a shorter 37.25” build to promote maximum consistency and accuracy when used with a ONE Length set or on its own. The ONE Length Utility features the highest amount of Tungsten at a whopping 83g.

The variable length KING ™ TEC Utility irons ($229 steel, $249 graphite) are available in a 2-Utility (17° – RH Only), 3-Utility (19°), 4 (22°), and a 5-Utility (25°), with LH available in custom only. The ONE Length KING ™ Tec Utility irons are available in a 3-Utility (19°), 4-Utility (22°), and 5-Utility (25°) in RH only. All KING ™ TEC Utility irons come standard with Lamkin Crossline grips and KBS $-Taper Lite steel shafts, and MCA MMT 80 (S, R) graphite shafts.

The KING ™ TEC Utility Iron will be available at cobragolf.com and at retail on February 3rd, 2023

COBRA Golf™ Releases New King™ TEC Hybrid With Sleek New Profile and Advanced Technologies for Longer Distance, Improved Control, and Enhanced Customization

CARLSBAD, CA – COBRA Golf ™ , a leader in golf club innovation, introduced today the new KING ™ TEC Hybrid ($299), an impressive addition to the KING ™ family of players’ clubs. Packed with innovative technologies, the KING ™ TEC Hybrid is designed for 0-15 handicappers looking for a reliable option off the tee and on longer approach shots with exceptional versatility from a variety of lies.

The new COBRA KING ™ TEC Hybrid is a super premium, adjustable hybrid designed specifically to complement COBRA ® ’s KING ™ family of better player irons. New innovations in the latest ’23 KING TM TEC Hybrid include H.O.T Face Technology and a new ST-118 face material. Developed using artificial intelligence, H.O.T. Face (which stands for “Highly Optimized Topology”) features multiple zones with optimized thicknesses that increase ball speed and produce more efficient spin across a larger area of the clubface, resulting in more consistent and reliable distances. PWRSHELL Technology features a thin, highly-flexible forged ST-118 steel insert that creates a larger Sweet Zone for faster ball speed and higher launch on shots hit away from center. The KING ™ TEC hybrid also features a 4g Carbon Fiber Crown that allows for more weight to be repositioned low and back within the clubhead for a lower CG and improved launch and forgiveness. Together, all three technologies (H.O.T Face, PWRSHELL, and Carbon Crown) achieve the best combination of high launch, reduced spin, longer carry distance, and softer landing into greens. To make the KING ™ TEC even more appealing to better players, COBRA ® engineers created a refined, sleek profile with a shorter blade length, less onset, a more rounded toe and crown, and updated face and toe curvatures that look more square at address.

The KING ™ TEC Hybrid also features an Adjustable Weight System with three adjustable sole weights (two 12g weights and a 2g weight). The two 12g heavy weights can be positioned in the back/heel for a draw-biased flight, back/toe for a fade-biased flight, and front heel/toe areas of the clubhead to encourage neutral and controlled flight. Additional weights are sold separately through custom and include a 10g, 14g, and 2g option. In addition, COBRA ® ’S MYFLY ® Adjustable Loft Technology allows for loft adjustments of +/- 1.5-degrees for additional fine tuning of launch and spin characteristics.

The KING ™ TEC Hybrid is available in four loft options — a 2H (RH only) with a nominal loft of 17° (adjustable from 15.5° to 18.5°), a 3H with a nominal loft of 19° (adjustable from 17.5° to 20.5°), a 4H with a nominal loft of 21° (adjustable from 19.5° to 22.5°) and a 5H with a nominal loft of 24° (adjustable from 22.5° to 25.5°). All LH options are available in custom only. The KING ™ TEC Hybrid comes standard with a Lamkin Crossline grip and a Mitsubishi MMT 80 (X-88.5g, S-85g) or MMT 70 (R-73g) graphite shafts.

The KING ™ TEC HYBRID will be available at cobragolf.com and at retail on February 3rd, 2023.

NEW: COBRA Golf KING TEC Irons, Utilities and Hybrids for 2023

COBRA Golf introduces its KING TOUR and KING CB/MB player irons with superior feel, shaping and precision feel for the ultimate in forged performance.

cobra king tour 2023 lofts

COBRA Golf, a leader in golf club innovation, unveiled today the new KING TOUR and KING CB and MB irons.

All new KING TEC products will be available at retail from February 3.

Rounding out an impressive COBRA Golf KING family that also includes the KING Forged Tec and Forged Tec-X irons, the new releases elevate the KING family of players’ irons to a new level.

Aimed at advanced players, a traditional forged muscleback ( KING MB ), compact muscle cavity back ( KING CB ), and a technical cavity back model ( KING TOUR ) cover the full spectrum of golfers who value feel, feedback, and shotshaping ability.

NEW: COBRA GOLF AEROJET IRONS 2023

All three new models are crafted from 1025 carbon steel using COBRA ’s industry-leading 5-Step Forging Process .

While other forged irons have traditionally used a four-step process, COBRA utilizes a fifth forging strike to deliver unmatched soft feel and precision shaping.  The forging process begins by heating carbon steel billets to 1200-degree Celsius.

The billets are then Rough Forged three times (steps 1-3) , a process in which the metal is bent and forged to form the rough shaping of an iron head.

Step Four involves applying 1200 tons of pressure at 800-degrees Celsius to each rough clubhead, refining the shapes and placing detail lines and logos.

During the final fifth step, each iron head is subjected to 2000 tons of pressure at 700-degrees Celsius , forming an extremely uniform and isotropic internal grain structure.

After cooling, each clubhead is polished and made ready for the faces and grooves to be precision milled using a CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) machine.

COBRA Golf's vice president of R&D, Tom Olsavsky, said:

Benefits of COBRA’s 5-Step Forging Process include: More precise shaping, more precise and flatter clubfaces, tighter weight tolerances, improved consistency of loft and lies, improved face thickness consistency, improved aesthetics, and significantly enhanced feel at impact.

NEW: COBRA Golf KING TEC Irons, Utilities and Hybrids for 2023

COBRA KING TOUR IRONS 2023

The KING TOUR irons ( £1099/7-piece set ) blend soft feel and playability with enhanced distance and forgiveness using a 5-step forged multi-material construction.

Unlike the CB & MB irons which are one-piece forgings, the Tour irons feature an aluminum medallion, and a TPU insert in the back cavity.

A key to the enhanced forgiveness and overall performance of COBRA’s new TOUR iron are CNC undercuts in the back cavity of each iron, which allow weight to be repositioned from high center to lower center and heel and toe areas of the clubhead, creating improved launch conditions and more forgiveness on off center hits.

The shaping of the TOUR irons is progressively more compact than the KING Forged TEC model, featuring a thinner topline, reduced offset.

The updated Tour shape also features a slightly shortened blade length than the previous KING Tour MIM Irons to inspire improved control and workability.

NEW: COBRA Golf KING TEC Irons, Utilities and Hybrids for 2023

COBRA KING CB/MB IRONS 2023

The KING CB/MB irons ( £999/7-piece set ) feature the most compact shapes in the KING lineup, and are built with attributes that better players typically desire including thinner toplines for aesthetics, minimal offset for control, thinner soles for precise turf interaction, and shorter blade lengths for enhanced shot-shaping ability.

Due to the precision of the 5-Step Forging Process, the CB and MB irons feature perfectly centered CG locations without the need for added Tungsten to manipulate the CG.

NEW: COBRA Golf KING TEC Irons, Utilities and Hybrids for 2023

NEW: COBRA Golf KING TEC Irons, Utilities and Hybrids for 2023

COBRA KING TEC UTILITY IRON 2023

The KING TEC Utility iron features a classic, muscle-back style iron shape that sits comfortably at address, with a relatively wide sole for improved turf interaction from a variety of turf conditions.

For improved acoustics and feel at impact, the hollow clubhead is injected with an even lighter and softer Expancel Microsphere Foam, which is also used in the KING Forged Tec & Tec X irons to absorb vibrations and tune sound and feel.

The variable length KING TEC Utility irons (£189 steel, £199 graphite) are available in a 2-Utility (17° - RH Only), 3-Utility (19°), 4 (22°), and a 5-Utility (25°), with LH available in custom only.

The ONE Length KING Tec Utility irons are available in a 3-Utility (19°), 4-Utility (22°), and 5-Utility (25°) in RH only. All KING TEC Utility irons come standard with Lamkin Crossline grips and KBS $-Taper Lite steel shafts, and MCA MMT 80 (S, R) graphite shafts.

NEW: COBRA Golf KING TEC Irons, Utilities and Hybrids for 2023

COBRA KING TEC HYBRID 2023

The new COBRA KING TEC Hybrid is a super premium, adjustable hybrid designed specifically to complement COBRA®’s KINGTM family of better player irons.

New innovations in the latest ’23 KINGTM TEC Hybrid include H.O.T Face Technology and a new ST-118 face material.

PWRSHELL Technology features a thin, highly-flexible forged ST-118 steel insert that creates a larger Sweet Zone for faster ball speed and higher launch on shots hit away from center.

The KING TEC hybrid also features a 4g Carbon Fiber Crown that allows for more weight to be repositioned low and back within the clubhead for a lower CG and improved launch and forgiveness. Together, all three technologies (H.O.T Face, PWRSHELL, and Carbon Crown) achieve the best combination of high launch, reduced spin, longer carry distance, and softer landing into greens.

To make the KING TEC even more appealing to better players, COBRA engineers created a refined, sleek profile with a shorter blade length, less onset, a more rounded toe and crown, and updated face and toe curvatures that look more square at address.

The KING TEC Hybrid also features an Adjustable Weight System with three adjustable sole weights (two 12g weights and a 2g weight).

In addition, COBRA’S MYFLY Adjustable Loft Technology allows for loft adjustments of +/- 1.5-degrees for additional fine tuning of launch and spin characteristics.

“Bringing COBRA’s H.O.T. Face technology to the hybrid category is a game changer” said Jose Miraflor, Vice President, Marketing & Product Architecture, Cobra Golf.

“The additional ball speed and forgiveness makes the KINGTM TEC our most advanced hybrid to date.”

The KING TEC Hybrid is available in four loft options — a 2H (RH only) with a nominal loft of 17° (adjustable from 15.5° to 18.5°), a 3H with a nominal loft of 19° (adjustable from 17.5° to 20.5°), a 4H with a nominal loft of 21° (adjustable from 19.5° to 22.5°) and a 5H with a nominal loft of 24° (adjustable from 22.5° to 25.5°). All LH options are available in custom only. The KING  TEC Hybrid comes standard with a Lamkin Crossline grip and a Mitsubishi MMT 80 (X-88.5g, S-85g) or MMT 70 (R-73g) graphite shafts.

All KING TEC products will be available at retail from February 3, 2023.

Saratov

Almost midway between Samara and Volgograd on the River Volga is Saratov. Although a city of the Golden Horde once stood here, the modern city is considered to have been founded by the Russians in the late 16th century to protect the country’s southern borders.  Before the Second World War, like neighbouring Engels, Samara was a centre of the Volga Germans, ethnic Germans who had lived in Russia for generations since being invited by Catherine the Great. In a field outside the city on 12 April 1961, the world’s first man in space, Yuri Gagarin, fell to earth and there is now a monument to mark the historic event.

5-STEP FORGED

Cnc milled undercuts for enhanced stability, tpu inserts for improved feel, tech overview.

While traditional irons utilize a 4 step forging process, the KING irons add a fifth step to deliver exceptional soft feel that better players demand. Each iron is crafted and 5-step forged from 1025 carbon steel for a more uniform grain structure and precise shaping.

A key to the enhanced forgiveness of the TOUR irons are the CNC milled undercuts in the back of each iron, which allow weight to be repositioned to lower CG for improved launch conditions, and more stability on off center hits.

The CNC milled cavities are filled with a TPU material and topped with an aluminum co-mold medallion, which both damp vibrations for a more pleasing sound and feel at impact.
