Visit Nuremberg with its pretty market square, the medieval castle, and Our Lady’s Church. Next, head east across the border into the Czech Republic. Evening arrival in Prague. Today’s Distance: 298 mi/ 480 km

Day 3 PRAGUE

The wealth of Gothic and Baroque architecture perhaps inspired Dvorak and Smetana, both Prague composers. Your included guided sightseeing tour features landmarks such as the Jewish Quarter, Charles Bridge, and the Old Town Square with the Astronomical Clock.

Day 4 PRAGUE–VIENNA, AUSTRIA

Travel from Bohemia into Moravia, then into Austria and on to Vienna, where included sightseeing starts with the State Opera, Parliament, and the Town Hall. Sorry but we have not traveled with Cosmos. We are doing a similar tour with Trafalgar in October. This will be our 5th. or 6th. with them. If you want to send me a personal message, I will be happy to discuss our experiences.

1. Airport transfer

NH hotel in Munich is located so close to Airport, it takes 5 min to get to hotel, price 8 euro per person by shuttle bus, and 15 euro by taxi (tip included), so if you have more than one traveler, take a taxi. Cosmos does not tell you anything about hotel location, so they did charge us $50 per person (there were 3 of us) for an Airport transfer

2. Hotels locations

Hotels provided by Cosmos, were located really far form cities. It is very inconvenient if you want to discover the city sites at your free time.

Munich – 1hr

Prague - 45 min

Vienna – 1hr

Budapest – 30 min

3. Included site seeing tours

a) Every city had short 2 hr site seeing tour included, so if tour started at 9am then after 11am, you are on your own. When I booked guided tour, I just didn’t want to spend time and efforts to plan my trip; I expected that Cosmos will do it for me, but in reality we had to choose between walking the cities on our own (very difficult, if you didn’t do any homework) or purchase an optional (not included) tours. If you buy every optional tour, to fill the time gaps, you’d pay about third of what you spend on the entire tour.

b) Tour guide in Prague was terrible; we couldn’t understand a word she was saying.

4. The last comment for the whole tour: Why does it start at Munich? At first, 10 days tour, to Prague, Vienna and Budapest sounded as a good idea, but in reality

Day#1 - you depart from home,

Day#2 - you arrive to destination

Day#10 - you depart for home.

So it leaves you just 7 days for your tour, but travel time from Munich to Prague and from Budapest back to Munich takes another 3 days. Now you have just 4 days, definitely not enough, to see most beautiful cities in central Europe .

Bohemian Rhapsody is 14 days tour, 3 days in Prague, 3 days in Vienna, 3 days in Budapest, sounds like a good deal

nikolayj - I was intending that question for the OP. But which hotel did you stay in that was an hour out of town?

I see that for tour 6050 they use the Pyramida hotel which is outside the city. Yet for tour 6090 which takes a bit longer to cover basically the same route they use central hotels. It seems "you pays your money and takes your choice"!

Cosmos is part of Globus and offers less expensive tours. To keep the costs down, hotels are usually further away from city centres. If you are willing to pay a bit more for a first class tour, check out the tours offered by Globus.

As you review different tours, be sure to check out the hotels on the TA website. Some of the hotels on first class tours are not always in central locations. Look to see if numerous reviews indicate a poor location. These reviews will tell you what the tour company really means by a scenic location.

We have our first trip planed with cosmos in march 2011 to the same tour you are talking about. We are very excited to see the difference between globus and cosmos. I think if you go with a great attitude it makes all the difference in the world. I know the hotels are further out but sometimes that takes you out of touristy areas and you are able to see the real place and the real people. What ever you chose, I wish you happy travels!!!

Day 3 PRAGUE

The wealth of Gothic and Baroque architecture perhaps inspired Dvorak and Smetana, both Prague composers. Your included guided sightseeing tour features landmarks such as the Jewish Quarter, Charles Bridge, and the Old Town Square with the Astronomical Clock.

Day 4 PRAGUE–VIENNA, AUSTRIA

Cosmos Hotel in Moscow - Live Close To The Stars

Ostankino is famous for Moscow TV-tower, botanical garden, the Cosmonautics Museum and the All-Russia Exhibition of Achievements of the People's Economy just in front of the hotel. Exhibition of Achievements of the People's Economy is a quite impressive architectural ensemble,  definitely worth seeing even if you are not into architecture at all.

The comfortable standard rooms start at €50 for single and €90 for twin or double.  Meanwhile, the “suite” rooms start at €120 for single and €200 for double. Rates include a buffet breakfast).

Cosmos hotel provides a variety of services and facilities including laundry, travel and business services. The hotel is also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, among which "Kalinka" is the most famous one.

There are eight types of rooms in the Cosmos hotel which are all equipped with fridges, alcoholic or non-alcoholic mini-bars, telephones with bathroom extension, TV with international and Russian satellite channels and Internet access facility, an indoor pool and a Jacuzzi.

Suite rooms are equipped with non-touch door locks, hair-dryers in the bathrooms and nicely furnished in European traditions. Breakfast for the Cosmos Club guests is served on the 25th floor in the Planet Cosmos restaurant with a panoramic view of Moscow from a 99-meter height. The nearest metro station to the hotel is VDNKh (you have just to cross the road). And it will take you about 15 minutes to get to the very center of the city.

Moreover, there is some adventurous aftertaste in saying, "I've been living in cosmos !" ("cosmos" is the Russian term for "outer space").

We have just returned from a cosmos….

We have just returned from a Cosmos tour- Gourmet Tuscany. We stayed in Montecatini Terme and traveled from there to many wonderful places, in towns and the fabulous Tuscan countryside. We visit Vineyards for wine tastings, farms for cooking lessons and lunches and dinners in authentic Italian restaurants. All assisted by a friendly, informative tour director. First class holiday

Excellent in every respect

I recently did a 2-week "best of Italy" tour with this company. Our guide, Daniella, was fantastic, the itinerary was excellent and they catered for my rather difficult dietary requirements really well. Really happy and will certainly book with them again

A wonderrful experience

WE saw so much. The tour director Mladin was very knowledgeable and made the experience so enjoyable. The bus driver Paul was so nice and helpful. A couple of the hotels had no refrigerators to keep the water cold. We had to carry our own luggage to and from the rooms. There should have been porters to help us. Over all we had a great time.

Old South &Florida tour

Great organisation, tour guide(Kris) and driver(Tony) who went extra mile and good group of people from all over world. The hotels were excellent in New Orleans and Nashville and very good in other cities. The itinerary was well thought out with visits to Gracelands and Grande ole Oprey topping the bill. We added 3extra nights in New Orleans (giving us 6nights) which was absolutely fab and would advise anyone doing this tour that they consider some extra nights to see and do as much as you can

The tour director expertise and personality made the trip all the more pleasant. No stress. The local guides as well added to the beauty of this trip. They were knowledgeable and personable. I also have to mention the travelers (the group of 21). The people were friendly an accommodating.
