The beaches of Normandy are constant witnesses to the struggle for our present. It is a place that brings together the memories, the courage and the indomitable spirit of those who shaped the course of history on the beaches of Normandy. Our tour of the Normandy beaches from Le Havre pays deep tribute and promises to remember the historic heroism of the Normandy landings.

German Cemetery: Echoes of Conflict and Remembrance

A trip to the solemn grounds of the German Cemetery, a poignant testimony to the hopeful lives lost during the turbulent days of World War II, will put you in a historical mood. Among the carefully laid tombstones and trodden paths of visitors, you will be struck by reflections on the sacrifices on both sides of the conflict. By following history, you learn to understand and appreciate it, so this initial stop sets the tone before continuing with the key events of the D-Day landings at Pointe du Hoc.

Pointe du Hoc: climbing to the heights of heroism

The famous Pointe du Hoc, home to the U.S. Army Rangers' heroic climb up the fortified cliffs, is an example of courage and determination in the fight for freedom. Standing at the top of these rugged hills, reminders of this audacious attack, which helped secure victory, spread all around us. You will have the opportunity to experience first-hand the historic atmosphere of this place, surrounded by the memory of the valour and scars of the battles that the hill bears.

Omaha Beach

The tranquillity of this place today makes it hard to believe that the historic battle that bore the name of one of the most intense battles during the D-Day landings took place right here on 6 June 1944. The same golden sand, scattered by the boots of American soldiers who bravely faced the formidable German defences. Fierce resistance, costly fighting and difficult terrain earned the beach the nickname 'Bloody Omaha'. Today's tranquillity and beauty of the place is due to the bravery of these soldiers, and we invite you to take a reflective walk on this historic site. At this point during the day we will distribute packed lunches. Our team has personally prepared a homemade baguette lunch for you, alongside which you will receive water and dessert.

American cemetery: a solemn tribute to sacrifice

The American Cemetery is a place of reverence and reflection. The sight of rows of white crosses and Stars of David is a humbling reminder of the enormous sacrifices made for freedom. A testament to the sacrifice and determination of each of these soldiers, it remains recorded in history as the great price that freedom brings. The tranquil surroundings belies the profound impact of the events that took place here, and as you walk between the graves, you will be reminded of the profound price of freedom.

An intimate and informative experience

The backdrop of picturesque landscapes contrasts with the rich and moving stories of heroism, strategy and sacrifice that took place on these shores. Our experienced guide will lead you through these testimonies of the past to help you gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced and triumphs achieved during Operation Overlord.

  • Mark W 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Versailles palace tour Amazing barely describes it. I heard it would approach a billion dollars to replicate this today. Every room is a masterpiece. The artwork and decor is one of a kind. Important: we have been twice at different times of the year. Do not just show up. Go with a tour or a reservation. • Susan W 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Very quaint Don’t be put off by the centre of town. It’s where the big department stores are. Head for the spire of the Norte dam cathedral and you will find the old cobbled streets where the individual shops and antique shops are. Head for the ornate clock that’s above the archway, sit a while at the cafe under the clock and wait for the hour to sound, you’ll see the freeze under the clock change. We loved Rouen, if you love Bruges you’ll love Rouen. Read more Written September 4, 2019
  • Stacey L 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Extremely Crowded and Disorganised We pre-purchased tickets and waited in line for almost two hours. Once we got in, we were in a massive group of people, with hundreds behind us. There was no time to stop and enjoy the palace. People were constantly pushing behind you. Every other place we went had time stamps, in order to keep the crowds manageable. Whoever manages Versailles, is doing an extremely lousy job of it. I would not recommend it. There are many other amazing sites to see. Read more Written September 2, 2019

  • Tilliej2015 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Go early! It gets so busy and the queues are ENORMOUS. The place is unbelievable and it absolutely takes your breath, however when we visited it was so crowded and we only had time to see a couple of rooms (at lightening pace). I would definitely advise getting a queue jump ticket as we stood in line for around 2 and a half hours (and it was glorious sunshine so we were baking). Definitely go and visit as the wow factor really does outweigh the negatives. Take some time to pre-plan and you will have an amazing time here. Read more Written August 6, 2019
  • KateF86 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Disaster averted! From the beginning, this company was incredible to work with. They were easy to correspond with and very helpful with providing a realistic itinerary that would include our most desired places to visit. We booked a van for our family of 5 and the driver arrived promptly to pick us up at the port. As requested, a car seat was provided for our infant son as well. Gilbert was friendly and eager to please. He drove us to Paris and he was very kind and accommodating. We went to several places and Gilbert did a great job navigating the intense Paris traffic. Our last, and most anticipated stop, was the Eiffel Tower. We were to meet another company there for a tour and then return to a meeting point with Gilbert at 3:45 so we could return to the ship in time. Unfortunately, our teenage daughter was separated from us at the tower and we lost her...for an hour! Of course to make matters worse, our cell phones died and we were unable to contact Gilbert. Luckily, the guards at the Tower were compassionate and allowed me to use their own chargers to get a text out to the company. They were so kind! I feared the worst- not finding my daughter, Gilbert leaving us, missing the ship.... But much to my surprise, and utmost sincerest gratitude, Gilbert waited patiently. We found our daughter and when we arrived at our meeting point, Gilbert was reassuring and understanding. He even made it to the ship with time to spare! To further add to the story- my daughter left her device in the van. Gotta love teenagers! Again, this company responded with kindness and assured us they would send it to us. I can’t thank them enough for helping us salvage our trip to Paris and for their unending kindness. They are reliable and I would absolutely recommend them as a great private taxi to get you where you need to go. Read more Written July 21, 2019

  • catsmit75 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Not a total loss in Rouen & Étretat Cliffs/Village Mr. Jerome Le Stunff was easy to correspond with via e-mail prior to my visit/cruise stop in Le Havre. Our driver, Gilbert was waiting for us, was friendly, wore a smile all day and eager to please our small private Cruise Critic group of 8. However, he was ill prepared for this tour! and that was quite disappointing! He knew where we wanted to go in Rouen but didn't know how to get there; stopped several times to ask someone on the street for directions, drove around in circles most of the day. We saw the clock at the train station when we wanted to see Old Clock in the Medieval City - he never found it. We did manage to see the Cathedral de Notre Dame, Church of St. Joan of Arc and the Étretat Cliffs & Village. Because so much time was wasted driving in circles, we did not have time to visit the church above Étretat Village before returning to the cruise ship terminal. Our day was not a total loss and hence the average rating. Read more Written May 30, 2019

Program & Itinerary

Experience the historic D-Day landing beaches on a private shore excursion from Le Havre. Our expert guides will take you on a journey through time as you explore the sites where Allied troops landed on June 6, 1944, and changed the course of World War II. Visit iconic locations such as Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, and Pointe du Hoc, and learn about the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers who fought there.

Our private tours offer personalized service, flexibility, and the opportunity to explore at your own pace. We'll pick you up from your cruise ship in Le Havre and take you on a scenic drive through the Normandy countryside to the D-Day landing beaches. Along the way, you'll see picturesque villages, lush green fields, and historic landmarks.

Our D-Day landing beach tours are perfect for history buffs, military enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to pay their respects to the heroes of World War II. Book your private shore excursion now and experience the history and beauty of Normandy.

Pick up from your Cruise Ship in Le Havre

First, we will come and pick you up at your Cruise Ship in Le Havre cruise port. Meet your English speaking guide who will go over the itinerary and program of the day. Then, board your A/C vehicle and begin to make your way to the Normandy coastline where the D-DAY landings occurred.

Visit Omaha Beach

Among the allied troops, the Americans landed on two different beaches, later named Omaha and Utah. Today, our day tour is taking you to Omaha beach, where the deadliest of the landings took place.

Even though bombings occurred before the landing itself, they failed to neutralize the German positions in that sector. In addition, troops and amphibian vehicles were disembarked too far from the shore, leading to an absolute failure and thousands of men being killed under German fire.

Now off to the cliffs

A little bit to the West, your private guided tour of Normandy will head to the Pointe du Hoc, a breathtaking cliff offering lunar landscapes and a magnificent viewpoint over the English Channel. Given the toughness of the operation, the Pointe du Hoc was given to Rangers to land upon.

The battle was rough, as the Pointe du Hoc had been built as a key point of the Atlantic Wall by the Germans – it was the highest point between Utah beach and Omaha beach and provided a great observation spot to notice any unfriendly arrivals from the sea. You can still see an artillery battery there and feel as if it was still this faithful June morning…

Normandy American Cemetery

End this private tour from Le Havre with a stop at the Normandy American Cemetery. Located in Colleville-sur-Mer, on the site of the temporary American St. Laurent Cemetery, established by the U.S. First Army on June 8, 1944 as the first American cemetery on European soil in World War II.

Here you will have some time to walk around and pay homage but also visit the Visitor Center that provides a fuller array of visitor services to put the D-Day landings in perspective as one of the greatest military achievements in history.

After the visit, return to Le Havre and drop off at your ship. This private tour can accommodate a maximum of 8 persons per minivan. During the whole day, one of our certified English-speaking driver guides will be by your side. He will explain the history behind each Normandy tourist site you will visit.

The tour can be customized depending on your wishes. If you would like to add a visit that is missing from this description, do not hesitate to let us know!
