The Tripadvisor Review Express API enables connectivity partners to provide automated Review Express services to opted-in hotel partners — creating requests on their behalf to send emails to recent guests, encouraging a review of their experiences. Accessing and Testing the Review Express API

We have created separate production and test environments for you to use during the Review Express API development process. The test environment uses the URL rcp-demo.ext.tripadvisor.com, while the production environment uses api.tripadvisor.com.

To access the Review Express API test and production environments, connectivity partner participants must:

• Accept the Review Express API Terms & Conditions

• Complete the connectivity partner inventory mapping for TripConnect or Review Express mapping

Tripadvisor will not send Review Express emails without the explicit consent of each participating hotel. Registered hotel owners or business representatives can opt-in through the Tripadvisor Management Center via their Review Express dashboard, which is accessible at  www.tripadvisor.com/ReviewExpress

Test Hotel: To facilitate testing, in addition to your mapped locations you may also use the location ID 730099 for submitting email requests. This is a test property that will always be treated as "opted-in" to Review Express for every connectivity partner, so that you may fully test the email request function even prior to completing your connectivity mapping, or prior to any of your partner hotels opting in to the program.

Adobe Express might not have the name recognition of Photoshop or Illustrator, but when it comes to graphic design, it’s a strong tool with a unique set of skills. It’s a lot less complex than many in the Creative Cloud toolbox, and much more relaxed in its interface and experience. 

It’s part free logo maker , part graphic design software , part video maker . Like Canva, its closest competitor, Express is an all-in-one content marketing hub for creating social media content, flyers, and other visual assets. 

Last time we tested out the tool, we were impressed - but a lot’s changed in the content creation game. Now, we’re reviewing the latest version, which has seen major improvements and, because it’s Adobe, plenty of AI tools to sink your teeth into. 

Adobe Express: Pricing & plans

• The free option is most welcome and quite extensive when you look into it. Express is included in most of Adobe packages, or as a standalone subscription. 

Adobe Express is free - well, mostly. Much like Canva , there are loads of features on offer. But certain assets, elements, and other options are locked behind a paywall. 

Still, there is a lot you can do for free and it’s a great way to explore how Adobe Express would work for you. If you do opt for a subscription, it’s available for $9.99 a month, or $99.99 a year. Express is also bundled into Adobe Creative Cloud packages as standard - so you may already have access to it.

Adobe Express: What is It?

• An ideal service if you’re looking to quickly create various projects based off of templates, but nothing’s stopping you from starting with a blank canvas should you prefer. The social media scheduling could prove to be a powerful asset.

Adobe Express is a service designed to help you create artwork, posts for social media, marketing, documents, and video editing. This is a vast canvas, but thankfully, the interface is well designed and easy to understand.

Top of the page is a menu guiding you to the above mentioned options. To the left is a sidebar from which you can access any previously created project via ‘Your Stuff’, set up your own ‘Brand’ (for paying customers only), ‘Explore' a vast library of templates which you can use and customise at will (some are considered premium only - anything with a purple crown lower right of the thumbnail isn’t free), ‘Schedule’ lets you post your artwork directly to social media, and ‘Learn’ provides tutorials to help you understand the workings of this service.

With the built-in social media management tools and content marketing tools , this is a much better feature-set than we had before. The scheduling feature alone should attract many potential new customers. You can connect to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and TikTok. Only one account of each is available for free, but those who pay can have up to 3. Essentially, with it, Adobe Express can be your social media creative hub. 

Adobe Express: Tools

• Very well-organised interface with a surprisingly good number of tools whether you’re working on an image or making a short video. 

Exploring Adobe Express now is like working with an entirely new service.  Everything has been expanded, from the options in the Home section, to the available editing tools for each category.

We’ve already explored some of the basic features in our previous review, so we thought we’d chat about other areas we hadn’t touched on, or simply didn’t exist back then. One thing worth noting though, previously you could use a basic background remover tool (fine tuning was a premium feature). Now it seems the background remover is only free “for a limited time”, which is obviously a downside. 

On a more positive note, let’s check out the editing features. You can begin with a blank canvas or choose from a wide gamut of templates. All editing tools are on the left, while tutorials can be found on the right, with the central section devoted to your project.

Click on an object or layer to reveal all available tools for it. You can also group objects together to make it easier to move them around or edit them in one go.

When it comes to videos, even though you can only hook up to TikTok on the ‘Schedule’ side of things , templates for YouTube videos (ie, those in the 16:9 aspect ratio with 1920x1080 pixels) are also available.

All the photos and videos you can browse through in the Media menu can be used in your project, and you’re free to upload your own clips. You’re even allowed to use ‘premium’ media in your video, but you won’t be able to download the finished product unless you pay to subscribe, or replace them with free alternatives instead.

As you’d expect, clips can be moved around and trimmed, but what surprised us for what’s supposed to be a simple video editor, was the ability to work with multiple layers of video, turning this casual online video editor into a surprisingly advanced one. Stacked clips will then also appear as thumbnails to the right of your project, which you can reorder to make sure the right one is always on top and visible, for instance.

We found Adobe Express to be very capable, whatever type of project we were working on. If you’ve used these kinds of services before, you’ll find this one easy to master, intuitive, and surprisingly versatile.

Adobe Express: Firefly AI

• Create images, insert objects in an existing image, create templates and font styles, all based on text input.

As with most Adobe products, Firefly AI has made its way to Express. Heavily promoted on the homepage, it also has its own dedicated menu along the ribbon. Here, you can create images from scratch (Text to Image), add objects to an existing photo (Generative Fill), create brand new editable templates (Text to Template), and what has to be our favourite: create brand new Text Effects based on a brief description. 

As with everything to do with Generative AI, your mileage will vary. When it comes to AI tools , it’s well-implemented - as you’d expect, given it’s a star feature in the likes of Photoshop . However, we’d like to see improvements here, as we had a hard time getting ‘Generative Fill’ to properly work at times. 

Still, when the AI comes through, you’re given four options, with the freedom to generate additional ones if you’re not happy with the output. You have a handful of different styles to choose from, and of course you can go back to the text input and alter it until you’re happy with what you’re getting. You can spend a lot of time playing around with various descriptions to see what the software will come up with or fine-tuning an artistic vision. It’s a lot of fun.

The Express Way With Dulé Hill is a four-part docuseries where the Psych and The Wonder Years star goes to different parts of the country and shows how people connect to each other via the arts. During the first season, Hill visits a diverse set of artists in California, Appalachia, Texas and Chicago.

THE EXPRESS WAY WITH DULÉ HILL : STREAM IT OR SKIP IT?

Opening Shot: On the top of a hill with downtown Los Angeles in the background, actor/dancer Dulé Hill puts on a purple pair of tap shoes. He then takes a board out to the middle of the street and tap dances.

The Gist: In the first episode, three artists in California are profiled. In the Fairfax neighborhood of Los Angeles, we meet Shaheem Sanchez, a dancer who lost his hearing when he was four years old. But music has always been in his life, thanks to his mother, and he dances to the vibrations created by the beat of a particular song. He demonstrates a little of the process of how he feels a song and starts creating moves based on that feel. He is also an instructor who teaches both hearing and hearing-impaired students, and incorporates ASL into the dance moves he teaches. He and Hill then dances with a group called Infinite Flow, many of whose members have disabilities.

Hill then travels to San Francisco to visit with Cynthia Yee, who has been dancing in Chinatown clubs in the city since she was a teenager in the 1960s. She’s part of a group called The Grant Avenue Follies, which is populated with women in their sixties on up; they tell Hill that he’s going to dance with them in that night’s show, which pays tribute to the first Miss Chinatown. We also meet Clara Su, who found herself writing poetry after her somewhat oppressive marriage falls apart.

Then Hill is back in Los Angeles to talk to Carlos Samaniego, who founded Mariachi Arcoiris, the world’s first LGBTQ+ mariachi band. Mariachi has always been known as not only a male tradition, but it has always had a macho, cisgender, straight vibe to it that didn’t welcome Carlos or other members of the LGBTQIA+ community. He meets Carols’ husband as well as his best friend, Natalia Melendez, the first openly trans woman in professional mariachi.

What Shows Will It Remind You Of? The format of The Express Way With Dulé Hill is similar to that of shows like Taste The Nation With Padma Lakshmi . Only here Hill is showing how people in the U.S. connect with each other via the arts.

Our Take: What struck us the most about The Express Way is that it’s not your typical PBS docuseries, with its more traditional mix of clips and interviews, with a deep-voiced narrator that is usually either Peter Coyote or Keith David (perhaps we’ve seen one too many Ken Burns series in this case). It definitely has more of a similar feel to a streaming or basic cable docuseries, where the star and narrator is an active participant, and we get to live those experiences through his or her reactions.

Hill makes for a personable and warm host in this capacity; during the segments where he’s directly interacting with the people that are being profiled, he’s happy to be there, loves to hear the stories the profilees tell, and is willing to jump in and participate to connect with the vibe and purpose of the art they create. We especially loved seeing Hill dancing with the ladies in The Grant Avenue Follies, because it showed he was open to experiencing someone’s art rather than just observing it.

Ultimately, a show like this is designed to expose you to people and art that you may not have known about. None of the people in this first episode are unknowns; they’ve gotten press attention and are well-represented on social media. But giving them a national platform is always helpful, and The Express Way gives worthy artists the platform to expand their worthy messages.

Parting Shot: Hill dances with Shaheem Sanchez as Sanchez shows him how he builds his dance moves without being able to hear the music.

Sleeper Star: Everyone told great stories about what they’ve had to overcome to get to this point in their lives, but we loved Natalia Melendez’ story about how her conservative father told her on his deathbed that “you’re my prettiest daughter.”

Most Pilot-y Line: Hill is a fantastic tap dancer. But the tap dancing interstitials are a bit gratuitous after awhile.

Our Call: STREAM IT. The Express Way With Dulé Hill does an effective job of connecting the artists that the show profiles to the viewer, and giving them a real chance to show why they do what they do.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — An independent review of the neutrality of the U.N. agency helping Palestinian refugees found that Israel never expressed concern about anyone on the staff lists it has received annually since 2011. The review was carried out after Israel alleged that a dozen employees of the agency known as UNRWA had participated in  Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks .

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the United States, Canada and the European Union.

In a wide-ranging 48-page report released Monday, the independent panel said  UNRWA  has “robust” procedures to uphold the U.N. principle of neutrality, but it cited serious gaps in implementation, including staff publicly expressing political views, textbooks used in schools the agency runs with “problematic content” and staff unions disrupting operations.

From 2017 to 2022, the report said the annual  number of allegations of neutrality  being breached at UNRWA ranged from seven to 55. But between January 2022 and February 2024, U.N. investigators received 151 allegations, most related to social media posts “made public by external sources,” it said.

In a key section on the neutrality of staff, the panel, which was led by former French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, said UNRWA shares lists of staff with host countries for its 32,000 staff, including about 13,000 in Gaza. But it said Israeli officials never expressed concern and informed panel members it did not consider the list “a screening or vetting process” but rather a procedure to register diplomats.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry informed the panel that until March 2024 the staff lists did not include Palestinian identification numbers, the report said.

Apparently based on those numbers, “Israel made public claims that a significant number of UNRWA employees are  members of terrorist organizations ,” the panel said. “However, Israel has yet to provide supporting evidence of this.”

Israel’s allegations led to the  suspension of contributions to UNRWA  by the United States and more than a dozen other countries. That amounted to a pause in funding worth about $450 million, according to Monday’s report, but a number of countries have resumed contributions.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry on Monday called on donor countries to  avoid sending money to the organization .

“The Colonna report ignores the severity of the problem, and offers cosmetic solutions that do not deal with the enormous scope of Hamas’ infiltration of UNRWA,” ministry spokesperson Oren Marmorstein said. “This is not what a genuine and thorough review looks like. This is what an effort to avoid the problem and not address it head on looks like.”

Colonna, speaking at the United Nations as the report was released, said the panel had been well received by Israelis while conducting its review and she urged the Israeli government not to discount it. “Of course you will find it is insufficient, but please take it on board. Whatever we recommend, if implemented, will bring good.”

The report stresses the critical importance of UNRWA, calling it “irreplaceable and indispensable to Palestinians’ human and economic development” in the absence of a political solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and “pivotal in providing life-saving humanitarian aid and essential social services, particularly in health and education, to Palestinian refugees in Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and the West Bank.”

U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric welcomed this commitment to UNRWA and said the report “lays out clear recommendations, which the secretary-general accepts.”

UNRWA’s Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini said last week he accepts all recommendations. As Israel has called for the breakup of the agency, Lazzarini told the U.N. Security Council that  dismantling UNRWA would deepen Gaza’s humanitarian crisis  and speed up the onset of famine.

International experts have warned of imminent famine in northern Gaza and said half the territory’s 2.3 million people could be pushed to the brink of starvation if the Israeli-Hamas war intensifies.

Separately, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also ordered the U.N. internal watchdog, the Office of Internal Oversight Services, to carry out an investigation into the Israeli allegations that 12 UNRWA staffers participated in the Oct. 7 attacks. That report is eagerly awaited.

In its interim report on March 20, the panel noted UNRWA’s “significant number of mechanisms and procedures to ensure compliance with the humanitarian principles of neutrality” but also identified “critical areas that need to be addressed.”
