Fast travel in hogwarts legacy: how to use the floo flames, share this article.

fast travel to common room hogwarts legacy

The fast travel system in Hogwarts Legacy is the same one from the books. While it can be fun spending all day exploring the open world on your broomstick, it’s much faster – and easier – to use Floo Powder to fast travel. There are Floo Flames set up all over the map, and just like Harry Potter himself, you can use them to travel from place to place with ease.

Here’s everything you need to know about fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy .

Hogwarts Legacy: How to use Floo Flames

fast travel to common room hogwarts legacy

The best thing about the fast travel system in Hogwarts Legacy is that Floo Powder isn’t a limited resource. You don’t need to collect it, or buy it from shops, as you are given an unlimited supply. This is great, because if you hope to complete Hogwarts Legacy, you are going to use a lot of it.

Before you can travel to a fast travel point – known as Floo Flames – you have to unlock it first. You will know which areas have one by looking for the grey Floo Flame icon on the world map. You need to travel to one by slower means such as your broom, a mount, or on foot in order to unlock it. This means you’ll be able to return to it by fast travel in the future.

fast travel to common room hogwarts legacy

You can travel to a Floo Flame by opening your world map. Then hover over the active Floo Flame icon, and press the square button to travel there if you’re on PlayStation, or the X button if you’re on Xbox.

At each Floo Flame, you will find an enchanted bust of Ignatia Wildsmith, the witch who invented Floo Powder. She is the stone face that talks to you every time you pass by a fast travel point.

Hogwarts Legacy: How to Fast Travel

Given the sheer size of the titular school of witchcraft and wizardry, learning how to fast travel can save an awful lot of time in Hogwarts Legacy.

As fans of the Harry Potter franchise will know all too well, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a pretty big place. As such, getting around the castle in Hogwarts Legacy can be pretty tiresome, not to mention a little confusing due to its many winding corridors and its multi-leveled design. Thankfully, there is a way around this.

RELATED: Open-World Games That Improve When Ignoring Fast Travel

Following its introduction around the turn of the century, the fast travel mechanic has become a staple of open-world video games and is put to good use in Hogwarts Legacy . Players will unlock fast travel fairly early on in the game and will be able to use it to get from one side of the castle to the other in a matter of seconds

How to Unlock Fast Travel in Hogwarts Legacy

Players will unlock fast travel during the "Attend Your First Fay at Hogwarts" section of the game. After leaving their common room and meeting up with Professor Weasley, they'll eventually come to their first Floo Flames location, which will trigger the fast travel tutorial. It's all fairly straightforward, but for those having trouble, fast traveling in Hogwarts Legacy is as simple as opening up the map in the Wizard's Field Guide and selecting any of the previously visited Floo Flames Locations from the list.

How to Unlock New Fast Travel Points in Hogwarts Legacy

Unlocking new fast-travel locations in Hogwarts Legacy is as simple as walking past an undiscovered Floo Flames location. These are scattered right throughout Hogwarts, meaning that players will be unlocking them left, right, and center as they play through the main story and explore more of the castle. The game even lists undiscovered fast travel locations, meaning that players can get a pretty good idea of how much of an area they've explored just by looking at their field guide.

It's important to note that not all Floo Flames locations are available right away, with some hidden away behind locked doors. As players complete more main story quests and unlock new parts of the school though, they should have no trouble finding them all. Until then, there are Floo Flames locations outside near every key location. What's more, there are so many of them that the player's next objective will rarely be more than a minute or two from a fast travel point that they've already unlocked.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions are currently in development.

How to fast travel with Floo Flames in Hogwarts Legacy

Image of Chris Carter

I didn’t discover it until many hours into the game

Using Floo Flames, you’ll be zipping around the world map in  Hogwarts Legacy constantly. Keep in mind that navigating each quadrant and tier of the map can be a pain; especially if your quest is located in a multi-layered zone like Hogwarts. Here’s how to unlock Floo Flames, and use the “locate on map” feature to better get around the world.

fast travel to common room hogwarts legacy

You’ll unlock Floo Flames in  Hogwarts Legacy  shortly after entering Hogwarts proper

After settling into your Common Room following the sorting ceremony in the intro: you’ll acquire Floo Flame fast travel points organically through the main story .

Think of Floo Flames like a fast travel network: explained away with the magic found in the original series . You’ll be using it throughout  Hogwarts Legacy to quickly get around, in lieu of using your flying mount to get there. Fast travel is especially useful for teleporting between the three major zones: Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and the outer world map.

You need to actively acquire each Floo Flame fast travel spot by walking or flying there. Inactive Floo Flame spots are black and white, while active ones are green. To activate a non-active spot, you just need to walk by it.

To select an active location and actually go there, press the Square (X on Xbox) button.  Do not get used to pressing the X (A on Xbox) confirm button to fast travel! Pressing that button merely sets a course for that location, but doesn’t actually travel there.

Use the “locate on map” feature for better fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy

One big tip I didn’t pick up on until many hours in: you can fast travel to places directly through the quest menu .

Open up the quest tab, and select a quest that allows the locate on map feature. Then, press Triangle (Y on Xbox) to instantly warp to the relevant location on the map (it’ll even zoom in a bit to give you a better view of nearby Floo Flames). You’ll be able to select from available Floo Flames.

How to fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy

A handy way to get around the map.

Hogwarts Legacy fast travel - a green glowing Floo Flame is to the left of the character as she looks into the common room.

Hogwarts Legacy fast travel is a lifesaver, especially when you see just how vast the map is, both in and around the famous school. Before you unlock your trusty broom to help you get around, you'll be introduced to Floo Flames , a network that lets you travel to different locations in a flash.

When exploring the Hogwarts Legacy map fully, you'll have a lot of ground to cover, and the Floo Flame network can be very useful throughout the game. So without further ado, here's what you need to know about Hogwarts Legacy fast travel so getting around the map can be that much easier.

How to fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy

You unlock the Floo Flame fast travel network just after Professor Weasley introduces you to the Field Guide pages. These unassuming green flames let you travel to them almost instantly, but you'll need to activate them before they can be used.

The map shows you the locations of every Floo Flame. Green ones are active, and those that are greyed out mean you still need to visit the area and activate them. To fast travel to a Floo Flame's location, simply open the map and select whichever flame you want to travel to.

Floo Flames on the world map are easy to spot but for those found within the walls of Hogwarts, you'll need to zoom in on a specific area to see the fast travel locations.

Hogwarts Legacy map

The Hogwarts Legacy map is huge. To the north, you'll find the Forbidden Forest and, while it's tempting to go exploring, be careful if you venture to the southern end of the map, especially if you're not far into the game, as the enemies are much tougher here.

From the very beginning, you can see the size of the map though only the name and shape of the area will be revealed until you zoom in on a region. This will give you more details, such as the locations of any Floo Flames you might want to visit and activate and the names of villages or settlements that are in the area.

Much like any other vast, open-world RPG, there are many points of interest to explore in and around Hogwarts. While some might show up on the in-game map to give you a heads-up about their location, many items don't such as Field Guide pages or Daedalian key locations. That's where the interactive map comes in, as it lets you toggle different items or quests on and off in the sidebar.

Of course, if you'd rather discover things naturally as you play, you might want to avoid the map for now. If you're a completionist intent on collecting absolutely everything, however, it's a handy reference to set you on the right path.

Hogwarts Legacy is a vast game, with lots of areas to explore and complete quests in.

Before you get to ride a mount or use a broom in the game, travel can feel quite time-consuming. This is especially true if you’re trying to get to far-away areas for lengthy side quests or treasure hunting.

Luckily, there’s a great fast travel system in the game that helps to make this a lot easier. Here’s a quick guide on how to fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy with the Floo Flame system.

How to Unlock Fast Travel Locations

To fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll need to unlock Floo Flame locations around the map.

They’re represented by a fire icon on the map and can be found in a wide variety of areas.

Floo flames map

To unlock these locations, you’ll need to visit these areas on foot for the first time. This is usually quick and easy if you’re trying to fast travel somewhere in Hogwarts, but can be a bit of a trek if you’re trying to reach one of the more remote hamlets or castles.

You can track locked Floo Flame locations on your map to make it easier.

Make sure you stand in front of the Floo Flame location to unlock it. I made the mistake of thinking I’d unlocked them by flying past them, but had to go back and get them again as I was slightly out of reach.

Floo Flame Wall

Once you’ve unlocked them, though, you can access them at almost any point in the game and travel with them wherever you like.

If you’re unsure whether you’ve unlocked one, double check your map. Locked Floo Flame locations show up as gray, while accessible ones are green.

Floo flame world map

I found some Floo Flame were hidden by other icons on the map, so make sure to zoom in and double check unfamiliar zones.

How to Use Floo Flames

Accessing Floo Flame travel in Hogwarts Legacy is as simple as opening up the map. It’s one of the best fast travel systems I’ve seen in an open-world game by a mile.

Open up the main map and find the area you want to travel to. The map itself is split into three parts, which are:

  • The Hogwarts map
  • The Hogsmeade map
  • The world map

Each area has Floo Flames and you can fast travel between them with no issues. For example, you can travel from a Hogsmeade Floo Flame to a Hogwarts classroom easily.

There are also hidden zones in Hogwarts, which include the Map Chamber and the Room of Requirement . These zones also have Floo Flames, so you can travel to them easily.

Floo flame secret

Find the area that you want to travel to, and check you’ve unlocked the nearest Floo Flame.

Then, select the green flame icon. A loading screen will pop up instantly, taking your character to the desired location.

Floo flame loading screen

Make sure to use the map tracking features to your advantage if you’re traveling to complete a far-away quest or objective.

What to Do Next

If you’re looking for a way to save yourself time while traveling in Hogwarts Legacy, look into the different magical beasts that you can get in the game and get yourself a mount.

Riding a flying mount in the game feels very close to riding a broom, as the controls are almost identical and the animations are similar too.

If you’re hoping to track down treasures and collectibles while unlocking all of the Floo Flame locations, keep an eye out for chests and bags with Revelio. Even the most remote location in the game can play host to loot like the various wand handles or powerful gear.

Your first few days on Hogwarts Legacy will likely see you exploring every inch of the world. Whether it be on foot or via your trusty broomstick, taking in the sights and sounds is a big part of the experience when diving in for the first time.

That being said, as the world slowly expands and you discover every corner of the map, you’re eventually going to want to get around quicker. Thankfully, in a world filled with magic, fast travel is a handy tool witches and wizards can use to get from one side of the map to another.

How do you fast travel?

In order to unlock fast travel, you’ll need to advance through the story until you reach a part where Professor Weasley is guiding you. During this section, you will be introduced to Floo Flames .

Floo Flames act as fast travel points, and once discovered, can be used to venture from one point to another, much like the Floo Network in the Harry Potter books. A tutorial prompt will introduce you to everything you need to know about fast travelling in Hogwarts Legacy .

As you explore Hogwarts and the surrounding world, you will unlock more Floo Flames. These can be used anytime outside missions and it’s as simple as loading up the map and selecting another point on the world map. You’ll instantly be transported there and be able to continue your adventure.

In the early hours, you’ll probably want to explore as much as possible, but once you get into the swing of things and work to collect the many collectables, using fast travel is a necessity.

Hogwarts Legacy: The High Keep Walkthrough

Quick links, about high keep quest, how to open the main gate, how to climb the battlements, how to enter the gatehouse, follow natty on highwing.

In Hogwarts Legacy , there are 43 main quests for you to complete, plus over a dozen side quests. Not to mention the various parts of the map for you to explore, including the castle. Needless to say, you won't be running out of things to do any time soon.

Hogwarts Legacy: 20 Best Side Quests, Ranked

Due to the size of the map and the different secrets there are hidden throughout, sometimes it can be difficult to know where to go or what to do. You may have a few of these moments when completing The High Keep quest. However, the answer might be right in front of you.

This is the 27th main quest and once you progress far enough into the game, you will see it under the quests tab. Keep in mind you must have level 17 in Wingardium Leviosa . The overall objective is to find a letter in Falbarton Castle that could expose Harlow and Rookwood. Keep an eye out for any easter eggs as there are dozens hidden throughout the game.

Meet Natty Near Falbarton Castle

After you select The High Keep quest, you must meet Natty near Falbarton Castle. The quest marker should lead you right to this location. It will be northeast of Hogwarts and if you have it unlocked, the East Hogsmeade Valley fast travel point will be near where you have to travel to. Once there, you will see the marker where you must stand next to the wagon, and she will come out from hiding. When you finish the dialogue with her, you must now infiltrate the castle.

You'll notice that the main gate is locked. There is no point in searching the surrounding area for a key as there doesn't seem to be one in that vicinity. Instead, you're going to have to find a way to climb the walls of the battlements to get past the gate.

Hogwarts Legacy: How To Beat The Pensieve Guardian Part 1

Head down the path to the right of the wagon where you were speaking with Natty. Against the castle wall, you will come to a bunch of wooden crates and miscellaneous objects that you can climb. To the right of this you can grab some Ashwinder Eggs before you start climbing. After you climb up onto the ledge of the Gatehouse, you must find your way inside.

When you get to the top of the Battlements, you'll notice the closed gate to the Gatehouse. You'll want to hit the switch with Depulso . When the gate rises, use Wingardium Leviosa to drag the crates out. Don't forget to loot the furthest crate against the wall before taking the one in front.

To the right of the gate you have just opened, if you look up you will see along the stone wall there is a ledge you must climb up to. Set the first crate below this ledge, then cast Leviosa to climb on the levitating box.

Use Revelio in the room you just climbed into and collect any objects that may be hidden. Head out down the path to your left, then veer to your right. You will see a wooden pallet leaning up against the wall of the castle on your left. Use Depulso to destroy it but don't go in quite yet.

To move the crate that blocks your path, continue down the wooden path, and you'll come to an open window. From here, you can cast Accio on the chest to move it away from your entrance. Now, head back to the hole in the wall and make your way inside.

Open The Gate For Natty

The switch in front of the gate will need to be hit with multiple spells in order to lift the gate for Natty. You must cast Depulso on it multiple times and once the gate is raised, quickly use Accio on the ring you see on the wall, so you can stop the gate from completely closing. If you're having difficulty casting Accio fast enough, try using Glacius after hitting it with Depulso twice then cast Accio. This will give Natty enough room to get inside.

You must now follow Natty who will open the locked door in the room you're in. Head up the stairs but take caution as three Dark Wizards are about to come crashing out casting spells at the Hippogriff named Highwing. Once men head back inside, you must find another way inside. Natty will continue on her own, leaving you alone.

Get To The Roof

To the right of the closed gate, climb the wooden ledges and up into the castle. Cast Revelio to see the positions of the enemies. Straight ahead will be a crate that you can use Depulso or another spell on to make it drop to the ground. Find the nearby stairs and head to the bottom level to loot the crate. Grab the crate using Wingardium Leviosa to drag it to the right and in front of another ledge. Use Leviosa to levitate it and climb up to that ledge.

You might have to use the broken stairs behind you to jump up on the crate. Use Revelio again to see the positions of the enemies. One might be walking through the door straight ahead of you, so proceed with caution. Before he can turn on you, it's best to take him out. Levioso followed by Diffindo would be good spells to use .

Don't forget to loot that nearby room he came out of before you head up the stairs ahead of you. Another Dark Wizard may greet you at the top of the stairs and you must act quickly. Utilize Glacius followed by Diffindo to take him out quickly . There should be two more Dark Wizards down the path on the left of you when you make it up the stairs. Quickly take them out to continue progressing. Once they're dealt with, use Alohomora on the locked door to your left.

After you find any loot, climb up to the ledge through the opening that was to the right of you when you walked in the room. Follow the tracker and go up the stairs to your left at the end of the hallway. A Poacher Ranger will spawn once you reach the top of the stairs. When you defeat them, a few more Poacher Rangers will appear, take them out too. Use Alohomora on the locked door to your left .

Go through the door on your right and you'll find the Poachers Inventory List. Rescue the 2 Puffskeins and Niffler while in this room . Head all the way up the stairs, looting as you go. At the very top of the stairs, you will see another wooden pallet for you to destroy on your right. Crouch down and carefully make your way across the wooden planks to the next room. In this room you will find a letter from Manfred to Astrid as well as some loot.

Head back the way you came, go straight, then, veer to the left to continue up some more stairs. You will then finally make your way to the roof and find Highwing sitting there along with another Hippogriff. You might need to have the flying mounts unlocked, but if you're this far in the main quest line, you probably already have it unlocked.

Hogwarts Legacy: Complete Challenges List

You will have a cut scene and Natty will appear. She will use Alohomora on the Hippogriff's chains , but before mounting the second Hippogriff, it will get spooked by Theophilus Harlow and others running to stop you. Highwing will grab her as you fly off with him. When the cutscene finishes, Natty will be on the other Hippogriff and you must follow her on Highwing.

As you're flying, you'll notice the Hogwarts Express below you. The two of you will follow the train until you reach the water. Continue to follow Natty until you both eventually land. There will be another cut scene speaking with Natty , and she will tell you that she was able to retrieve the letter right out of Harlow's hands. When she flies off, the quest will be completed.

Once the quest is completed, you will have 3 new items unlocked, including Highwing, Sepulchria, and Caligo . You will also be notified that new beasts inventory slots have been unlocked. Remember you can also breed beasts in this game as well, so this reward could be very useful.

Khabarovsk, Russia fascinates visitors with its unusual heritage and fabulous untouched nature. Tourists are drawn to the native culture, eclectic architecture and mesmerizing waters in this off-the-beaten-track destination, which promises a unique and memorable vacation.

As the center of Russia’s far eastern region of Khabarovsk Krai, the city offers celebrations throughout the year which are sure to give added flair to your trip, from traditional culture days to large-scale food fests. It is easy to keep a full itinerary during your stay thanks to its many theaters, museums, restaurants, workshops and quest rooms. Guests who want a more relaxed holiday can venture into the serenity of Khabarovsk nature, including the coast of the Sea of Japan or one of the region’s many picturesque lakes .

Khabarovsk Architecture

Khabarovsk, Russia

Khabarovsk architecture surprises with its harmonious blending of varying types and styles. This is due in large part to major changes which the city underwent in the mid-19th-early 20th centuries in conjunction with developments in the political, economic, scientific and technical spheres. The search for new trends in architecture came after the death of the classicism style, which had dominated the Russian Empire and the wider world for centuries. Beginning in the mid-19th century, the practice of mixing eclectic architectural styles began to emerge, leading to an era of amazing stylistic improvisations.

During the final decades of Romanov reign, many educational institutions for architects and engineers were opened. As a result, the face of numerous Russian cities began to change rapidly. Art Nouveau - a new, modern trend that absorbed several preceding styles – had come to dominate the architectural scene.

Many Art Nouveau buildings can still be seen in central Khabarovsk. These include:

  • Takeuchi apartment building (5 Muravyov-Amursky Street)
  • Esplanade Hotel (18 Muravyov-Amursky Street)
  • Luhta apartment building (84 Komsomolskaya Street)
  • Zandau apartment building (34 Muravyov-Amursky Street)

Khabarovsk also has many Gothic buildings, a style distinguished by its elegance and attention to detail. Every element of Gothic architecture emphasize a vertical orientation, as seen in the massive walls and columns, round arches and wide windows which contrast with narrow towers, pointed peaks and lancet windows.

Khabarovsk’s Gothic architecture is best represented by the artillery warehouse buildings located at 16 Komsomolskaya Street. Another notable example is the Red Guard Headquarters (105 Komsomolskaya Street), which has been preserved in its original form. The complex consists of two identical two-story brick buildings with unusual motifs containing pseudo-gothic elements.

Also of note is the early 20th-century Treasury Building, a luxurious red brick structure with openwork balconies that exudes an architectural grace.

Khabarovsk also has many Soviet-era buildings which were mostly designed in the constructivism style. Characterized by their enormous size and grotesque shapes, they often occupy most of the block and dominate the surrounding space.

During your Khabarovsk excursion, be sure to appreciate its unique architectural heritage by going for a walk downtown .

Khabarovsk Attractions

Khabarovsk, Russia

The layout of Khabarovsk is very simple: its 3 main streets of Lenin, Muravyov-Amursky and Seryshev pass through the downtown area, while Ussuriysky and Amur Boulevards run perpendicular to them. A distinctive feature of Khabarovsk are its many hills, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes for your walk.

Begin your walking tour of Khabarovsk from the train station, where you can see the monument to Yerofey Khabarov, the famous explorer for whom the city is named. Nearby is a sculpture of a double-headed eagle, erected in memory of soldiers, officers and builders of the Far Eastern Railway. Moving from the station along Amur Boulevard you will reach the central market, just past which is Lenin Square. A spacious area with a granite fountain in the center, it is the main plaza of Khabarovsk and the site of the city’s Christmas and New Year celebrations. Next to the square is Dynamo Park, famous for its three ponds and Ferris wheel.

From Lenin Square, move along Muravyov-Amursky Street to reach Amur Embankment, passing most of Khabarovsk’s famous 19th-20th century buildings along the way. Descend to the embankment via two grand staircases or make a small detour onto Shevchenko Street, where you can follow the slope until you reach the embankment’s main stretch. Among other things, the area is home to the House of Officers and three museums.

As you move along the embankment through a park you will come across the city symbol of Khabarovsk, a building set on a steep cliff above the Amur River. It was at the foot of this cliff that the founders of a military post, the first semblance of civilization in the area, first landed.

After reaching the river and walking along Ussuriysky Boulevard to Turgenev Street, turn right to reach Glory Square. Here you will find another famous Khabarovsk landmark, Transfiguration Cathedral, along with a magnificent view of the Amur River and its dreamy islands. Glory Square concludes the main walking route of Khabarovsk, but from here you can reach any part of the city by public transport or taxi .

Khabarovsk Cultural Life

Khabarovsk, Russia

Khabarovsk entertainment centers around its many theaters and museums. Visit Khabarovsk Museum of Local Lore to get a better glimpse of city and regional life. Children and adults alike will want to visit Fishes of Amur River Museum, an aquarium which is home to some 90 species of the underwater world. To catch the vibe of local artists, head to the Far Eastern Art Museum.

There are several theaters in Khabarovsk, each of which is worth visiting:

  • Khabarovsk Regional Puppet Theater;
  • Triad Pantomime Theater;
  • Khabarovsk Regional Philharmonic;
  • White Theater, and others.

In addition, Khabarovsk offers several concert halls, culture houses, cinemas and art institutions .

Khabarovsk Souvenirs

While the city’s souvenir selection is not as diverse as in other Russian cities, guests can still find something suited to their tastes on their tour to Khabarovsk. Amur River and the Sea of Japan offer an abundance of seafood that can be tasted on the spot or brought home in dried or smoked form. Yet it is the rich culture of the local indigenous peoples which provides the largest selection of national souvenirs.

If you’re looking for an original gift, traditional Nanai slippers are comfortable and warm. Sewn from leather or fabric and decorated in a bright, colorful style before being trimmed with fur, they make the perfect house shoes in winter. Traditional decorations include amulets which are made from animal bones, fur or fabrics and decorated with ribbons and colored beads.

Standard souvenirs like plates, magnets, mugs and flasks stamped with images of Khabarovsk or its coat of arms can be purchased in souvenir shops, which are mostly located downtown and at the airport and railway station.
