Lembang, A Mountainous Getaway from the Hectic Urban Life
Embrace the natural beauty of Lembang . Forget your home for a while, enjoy the cold fresh air and the petrichor emanating from the rain.
Located north of the magnificent city of Bandung , Lembang is a perfect getaway destination for nature lovers from the hustle and bustle of a city. Lembang highland is bestowed with picturesque sceneries, scenic tea plantations, and a nice change of cold weather from humid heat.
Mountainous adventure and fresh air are the charms of Lembang, a favorite sojourn location among the urban population. Several destinations here should be on top of your list, such as: Lodge Maribaya which boasts natural adventures and waterfalls; the Instagrammable Keraton Cliff , one the best photo spots; and the legendary Tangkuban Perahu Mountain , fantastic with its natural scenery and mesmerizing craters.
Lembang is also a great site to enjoy your family holiday. Visiting Farmhouse Lembang or De'Ranch is a must if you're with children. Visit the Hobbit house in Farmhouse or go horseback riding in De'Ranch, both are wonderful family-friendly attractions. You want something different? Stargazing at Bosscha Observatory offers a more educational type of vacation.
In contrast to Bandung, where you can find modern mall and shopping centers, Lembang is better known for its culinary destinations. The Floating Market Lembang is a colorful and vibrant leisure park, which sells various cuisine on boats.
People say that green is a good color to relieve stress. As a fertile highland, Lembang is lush with plantations: tea, strawberry, and vegetables. You can visit these plantations and pick your own fresh crops or buy them from local farmers. These places are best when you want to get closer to nature.
If you’re looking for an adventure at the highland forest, Cikole Orchid Forest would be a great place for you to explore. Only 5 kilometers from Alun-alun Lembang or approximately 45 minutes from Bandung, the Cikole Orchid Forest provides a comforting breeze of mountain air with the absence of pollution. It is filled with pine trees, sophisticated landscapes, and a vast variety of orchids. There are approximately 20,000 orchids including some of the rarest types such as West Java’s Phavio, as well as from Argentina, Peru, the Philippines, and many others. Furthermore, the place also serves many interesting activities to enjoy, such as flying foxes and a wooden bridge that hangs 23 meters above the valley.
Since Lembang is very close to Bandung , it's easy to find a transportation to get around and enjoy the beauty of its tourism hotspots. Your hassle-free option is to join a tour. Using a tour allows you to have a planned sightseeing without worrying anything. However, if you want more freedom, exploring Lembang by yourself using public transport is very possible. There are taxis, transportation apps, and public transportations to choose from.
It takes only about 30 minutes to reach Lembang from the very heart of Bandung . If you are from Jakarta , you need to go to Bandung first, by air or land. If you're planning to drive there, avoid the weekends or public holidays, because what is normally 2-hours trip can turn into 4-6 hours trip.
Using airplane (or helicopter, there are heli-taxi companies in Jakarta offering ride to Bandung ) is not necessarily the fastest way to get there considering you have to get to an airport first and wait for the flight. But if you choose to do so, you can hail a taxi from Bandung's Husein Sastranegara Airport to Lembang or hire a personal driver to get you around.
You can also take the train if you like. It takes about three hours from Jakarta to Bandung. The plus side is a scenic route as the train makes its way through the long tunnels and majestic mountains. Once you reach Bandung Station , you have a wide range of transportation choice, such as taxis, ride-hailing apps, and public transportation.
Another way to reach Lembang from Jakarta is by driving a private car or taking public transportations such as bus, minibus, or shuttle bus. The 150 km toll road connecting Jakarta-Bandung makes driving the fastest mean of transportation. Although, it can be very congested on the weekends and public holidays, so make sure you leave early and plan ahead. If you are a foreign tourist, we advise you to take public transportation or rent a car and a driver.

Nice lunch and snack

Tapi menurutku carbonara saucenya kurang creamy, terlalu cair gituuu. ✨ Nasi Ayam Pedas Asap (7.5/10) Porsinya... menurutku terlalu kecil. Ayamnya sih enak banget & empuk juga loh. Tapi nasinya terlalu kering & peraa.

Fancy Dining in Bandung
Worth it! Snack Platters — IDR65.000 Suka! Mac and Cheese ballnya paling enaksih, wedgesnya juga oke banget, krispi gitu. Nyaman pokoknya!

Comfortable hotel”
The hotel is nice, comfortable, cool temperature, not noisy, the only downside is there's no restaurant, if you want to have breakfast you have to go to the hotel next door
Great place to rest”
Great and very comfortable
best room view”
Thematic rooms make you feel comfortable staying in the room all day. For the upper floor rooms, there is a balcony facing the elephant tourist spot. However, at night it feels scary because there is no lighting at all when facing the balcony. Breakfast is varied but a bit dusty in the restaurant area.
Improvements”
The first day, bathroom amenities was incomplete. But its ok, next time please make sure everything to the detail

Video: Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard Season 2 Home Tour
By Jacquez Printup
The cast of Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard is back for another season, and they’re showing off their new pad in a fun video.
Thanks to Bravo’s The Daily Dish , they caught up with Bria Fleming , Amir Lancaster , and Shanice Henderson for a house tour of their fancy crib on the Vineyard. As the tour started, the trio introduced watchers to their newest roommate, Noelle Hughley , who’s residing in what she called “the study.” Her room is also where “everything goes down,” including “girl talk, haircare, makeup, you name it.”
Next, Amir took viewers to the kitchen to meet up with Preston Mitchum . “Not only is this the place where we party, this is also a place where we relax,” Amir said while Preston made himself a dirty martini.
What else does the Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard crib have to offer?
Upstairs are a few more bedrooms that house Shanice, Summer Marie Thomas , and Jordan Emanuel . Amir noted that Bria’s room is “the best room in the house” because of its features, including a balcony and natural light. “I gave up the primary bedroom for this room,” Bria told the cameras.
Outside, Shanice explained that the house’s trampoline was “actually my favorite part of the house,” and Amir pointed to the grill, saying they enjoy cooking “hamburgers, hotdogs, [and] corn on the cob.”
Alex Tyree sat by the firepit and explained he enjoys chilling there in his spare time. He stated he could do without the fire since the fire is “in my soul.”
Jordan called the house’s pool her “mermaid lair,” while Amir said it’s one of the most “iconic” spots where some of their “greatest nights” happened. They also teased that a few parties were taped there throughout the season, including neon-night ( Episode 3 ) and Freaknik.
Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard continues on Sundays at 9/8c.

Taylorsville Utah Temple open house begins Saturday: See the first photos
Reservations are available to the public to tour the temple for free during an open house that runs from april 13-may 18, excluding sundays.
By Tad Walch
TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — Free public tours of the new Taylorsville Utah Temple begin Saturday morning, and the first photos of the temple were released Tuesday morning to coincide with tours for Utah journalists.
Reservations to attend the open house are available here , from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The open house is scheduled to run from Saturday, April 13, through Saturday, May 18, 2024, excluding Sundays.
The temple is the first in Taylorsville and the 23rd in Utah, where a total of 30 temples now are scheduled to be built.
The temple will be dedicated on June 2 by Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
President Russell M. Nelson announced the Taylorsville temple in October 2019. Elder Gong presided over the groundbreaking service in October 2020.
The Gongs have a special connection to the Taylorsville temple location. Sister Susan Gong’s father was bishop of the local Latter-day Saint ward when a chapel opened on the site. That chapel was razed in 2020 to make room for the temple.
“It’s a very special blessing to participate in any temple groundbreaking and site dedication,” Elder Gong said at the groundbreaking. “All of us feel connected in each of those, but for us here particularly with the multiple generations in our own family, it is a special privilege. ... Our father and grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather all had served as bishops here in Taylorsville. So many of those that we love have been associated here over many generations, so it’s a very special blessing.”
The Taylorsville Utah Temple is the the fifth in the Salt Lake Valley, following the Salt Lake Temple (1893), the Jordan River Utah Temple (1981), the Draper Utah Temple (2009) and the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple (2009).
President Nelson announced a sixth temple for the valley, in West Jordan, on Sunday at the church’s 194th Annual General Conference.
The temple is located at 2603 West 4700 South in Taylorsville. It is 70,000 square feet and includes a center spire. It was built on a 7.5-acre site that included a field and a Latter-day Saint meetinghouse that serves as a stake center, the headquarters for a group of congregations.
The temple will have four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms and one baptistry.

Tea and a tour of Balmoral Castle? That will set you back £150
For the first time visitors will be able to see areas of the Scottish castle used by Charles and Camilla – if they have deep pockets
Parts of Balmoral Castle used by the royal family will open to the public for the first time – for those who have deep pockets.
For £100 for an adult ticket – and an extra £50 for those wishing to partake of afternoon tea – guided summer tours of the castle in Aberdeenshire are being offered, limited to 40 people a day and in groups restricted to 10 people.
It is the first time since the castle’s completion in 1855 that visitors will be shown two dining rooms, the drawing room, the page’s lobby and the red corridor, where King Charles greeted Rishi Sunak.
The tour also includes access to the ballroom with a collection of Charles’s watercolour collection depicting scenery at Balmoral, Highgrove and Sandringham as well as a selection of outfits worn by Charles, Camilla, the late queen and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. Previous tours, which will continue, have been of the grounds and gardens with access to the castle itself limited to the ballroom.
The tours, from 1 July until 4 August, before the king and queen arrive for their annual break, are being run for a trial period so estate staff can judge how the fragile building copes with increased footfall.
The £150 a head price tag for tour and high tea makes it the most expensive royal residence for visitors wanting the exclusive experience.
Buckingham Palace, which has long been open to the public during the summer months, charges £95 for an exclusive guided tour away from the crowds, though general summer admission with the masses costs between £32 and £35. Afternoon tea is not included, but at the nearby Ritz, the “afternoon tea experience” costs from £64.
St James’s Palace, which started guided tours in 2022 limited to 30 people, costs £80 for an adult. At the cheaper end of royal residence visits, Windsor Castle offers general adult admission at £30 in advance, while Sandringham House in Norfolk costs £24 and the Castle of Mey, the queen’s mother’s former Scottish home, is £14.50.
The Balmoral Castle website said experienced guides on the interior tour “will take you on a historical journey through several of the beautiful rooms within Balmoral Castle”.
It adds: “Travel through time from the purchase of the Balmoral by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, through to present day, where you can see how rooms within the castle are used today.”

Inside Missy Elliott's first headlining tour, with Busta Rhymes, Ciara and Timbaland
Aligning with Monday's total solar eclipse, Missy Elliott announced her first ever headlining arena tour
LOS ANGELES -- At a 24,000-square-foot studio near downtown Los Angeles, Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes and Ciara are preparing to film the video announcement for a tour no one saw coming.
This summer, the trio — along with legendary producer Timbaland — will hit the road for Elliott's first headlining arena tour, appropriately titled “Out of This World — The Missy Elliott Experience.”
“Listen, I didn't realize I never had my own tour,” says a smiling Elliott, holding her tiny Yorkie, named Fendi, dressed in Gucci. “The last real tour that I went on — like, consistent days — was with Beyoncé and Alicia (Keys).”
That was in 2004.
Call it long overdue, but the timing is ideal. Over the last few years, Elliott — the forward-seeking artist — has been recognized for her talents as a musician, producer, songwriter and beyond.
In 2019, she became the first female rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards. In 2021, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2022, her hometown of Portsmouth, Virginia, named a boulevard after her. Last year, she became the first female hip-hop artist inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
“Getting those accolades, I feel like I've finally made it,” Elliott says. “It feels amazing. I feel so blessed.”
“What we’re seeing now is kind of the rest of the world catching up,” says Mona Scott-Young, Elliott's longtime manager and co-producer of the tour. “She’s always been ahead.”
In his green room, Busta Rhymes tells the AP that a tour had never come up in conversation across his decades of friendship and collaboration with Elliott. (He’s the intro and outro voice on her canonical debut album, 1997’s “Supa Dupa Fly." They’ve long since been inseparable.)
“She doesn’t really tour and she doesn’t perform often. I just kind of understood my sister — the unspoken thing,” he says. “You knew that if she decided to do this, go to the place where she was actually ready to tour, the s--- was going to be crazy because one thing Missy never did was play with her production. And you saw that in everything she did, from her shows to her videos.”
He continued: “Missy will turn down $10 million to do a show. … She’s super in control of her destiny in that way, and without compromise, is what made her super incredibly great. You can’t do nothing but love her for that. She’s a true artist in the purest form of the word.”
And make no mistake, this isn’t a nostalgia tour.
“We are in the best spaces in our lives, individually and collectively, we’re at the most experienced spaces in our lives,” Rhymes says. “We’re no longer Daniel-san. We’re now all Mr. Miyagi senseis. You know what I’m saying? We’re all at our perfection levels of what we’ve been doing and building together as a collective family for 30 years.”
Elliott echoed the sentiment.
“The lineup feels something special," says Elliott. “It's family. It's not put together.”
On set, the trio are styled by longtime collaborator June Ambrose — all-black looks, like if the Avengers were impeccably dressed and made up of R & B and hip-hop legends. They take photos as a group and individually.
After her solo photo shoot, Ciara starts to tear up.
“When I was a little girl, a little artist coming up, and you would ask me, ‘Who inspires you?’ I would infuse a combination of people: Michael Jackson and Prince and I would say Missy Elliott. She’s one of the best performers of all time,” she said.
“She means a lot to me as an artist but also as a person, as a sister. She’s always someone I can call for the truth, and she’s got to keep it real with me. She’s someone I can call and cry to if I need to.”
But ask her if there will be any on-stage collaborations — Elliott wrote and was featured on Ciara's huge hit “1, 2 Step”; Ciara's on Elliott's “Lose Control” — she laughs. “Missy's very particular. I don't want to ruin any surprises,” she says. “I think from beginning to end, people will be on their feet. All of us have a lot of energetic records."
“Somebody's gonna die!" Rhymes jokes.
“And come back to life," Ciara cuts in.
“Let's keep it positive,” Rhymes laughs. “Someone is gonna die and come back to life.”
Later, Elliott offers a hint at what fans can expect from the show. “It's an experience, it's not just you seeing the artist on the stage,” she says. "I want people to travel to those moments, those (music) videos, I want you to relive it on stage. It is most definitely a lot of good, good stuff. Expensive stuff!”
The “Out of This World — The Missy Elliott Experience” kicks off in Vancouver, British Columbia, on July 4 at Rogers Arena and concludes in Rosemont, Illinois, at Allstate Arena on Aug. 22.
It will hit Seattle; Oakland, California; Los Angeles; Las Vegas; Denver; Austin, Texas; Houston; Fort Worth, Texas; Tampa, Florida; Sunrise, Florida; Atlanta; Baltimore; Hampton, Virginia; Philadelphia; Washington, D.C.; Newark, New Jersey; Boston; Brooklyn, New York; Detroit; Montreal and Toronto.
The tour is produced by Young's Monami Entertainment and Live Nation. Presale begins tomorrow, and tickets will become available to the general public on Friday.

Boris Pasternak's museum house
Pasternak’s “important achievement both in contemporary lyrical poetry and in the field of the great Russian epic tradition" was honored with a Nobel Prize for Literature in 1958. For many readers outside Russia, Pasternak is known mainly as the author of the touching historical novel Doctor Zhivago written in 1957. The novel as a whole communicates the haphazard, uncertain and chaotic quality of life caused by the Russian Revolution and the heroic case of quiet humanism demonstrated by a single person.
Pasternak’s translations of Georgian poets favored by Joseph Stalin probably saved his life during the purges of the 1930’s. However, the individualistic Pasternak was not suited to the Soviet artistic climate when art was required to have a clear socialism-inspired agenda and so Russian publishers were unwilling to print Pasternak’s novel. In fact, Doctor Zhivago first appeared in Italy in 1957.
Pasternak won his Nobel Prize the following year. Despite Pasternak politely declining his Nobel Prize quoting: “because of the significance given to this award in the society to which I belong”, the award nevertheless spread his fame well beyond Russia. He ended his life in virtual exile in an artist's community in Peredelkino village. His last poems are devoted to love, to freedom and to reconciliation with God.
Pasternak was rehabilitated posthumously in 1987. In 1988, after being banned for three decades, "Doctor Zhivago" was published in the USSR. In 1989 Pasternak's son accepted his father's Nobel medal in Stockholm.
Pastenak loved his house in Peredelkino, the house and surrounding nature featuring in his poetry. The poet considered the cycle of poems "Peredelkino", which he completed in the spring of 1941, to be his best work. The poet spent the first difficult months of the war in Peredelkino; he completed the novel "Doctor Zhivago" here, wrote the Lara poems and translated Shakespeare and Goethe. It was in this house that he learned he was to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature on October 23rd 1958. He died here on May 30 1960.
The house in Peredelkino only acquired the status of a museum in 1990, thirty years after the poet's death and a century after his birth. The museum has fully preserved the environment and atmosphere of the house where Boris Pasternak lived and worked. The director of the museum is Elena Pasternak, grandaughter of Boris Pasternak.
Pasternak’s grave can be found in Peredelkino cemetery which is situated 20 minutes walk from the poet’s house.

IHMC is making major strides in science and robotics - and you can go see for yourself
For many people, the idea of robots lumbering around on two legs likely sounds like something out of science fiction or the far-flung future.
But the researchers and engineers in the robotics fields are making major strides right in our own backyard − figuratively and literally − and this week is a chance for citizens to go check it out for themselves.
As part of National Robotics Week, the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition staff will welcome families, students and the public for tours, walk-throughs and inspiration Thursday, April 11, on the Pensacola campus on South Alcaniz Street. Tours will run from 3-7 p.m., with the final tour beginning at 6:30 p.m.
IHMC is a not-for-profit research institute of the Florida University System where researchers pioneer science and technology aimed at leveraging and extending human capabilities. IHMC researchers and staff collaborate extensively with the government, industry and academia to help develop breakthrough technologies.
The family-friendly open house event encourages scientific discovery through hands-on activities, challenges and demonstrations while providing the opportunity to learn. Visitors will meet IHMC researchers and see first-hand their work in drones, robotics, virtual reality experiences, human performance research projects, data visualization and more.
Dr. Robert Griffin works in the robotics lab at Florida IHMC and researches mobility control for humanoid robots and exoskeletons.
“We have one of the best facilities for legged robots in the world and have been very fortunate to be able to pursue that,” he said in a statement. “We are a major part of the community here, and we can tell that Pensacola loves us and has been good to us.”

While the robotics lab at the Levin Center for IHMC Research is an open-house highlight, the event also features the Healthspan, Resilience, and Performance (HRP) team. Led by senior research scientist Dr. Marcas Bamman, the team studies disciplines such as physiology, molecular biology, neuroscience, rehabilitation, psychology, environmental stress, and regenerative medicine.
Later this year, the HRP team will move into a nearly completed $40 million research complex that will exponentially expand research capacity and have a tremendous impact on Northwest Florida’s regional economy, according to IHMC.
“IHMC fosters a unique environment in which scientists can walk across the hall and tap into the expertise of leaders in AI, computer science, robotics and the many subdisciplines of HRP," Bamman said in a statement. "Our best days in science are those in which we learn from one another, and our goal at IHMC is to learn without limits.”
National Robotics Week was established by Congress in 2010 and aims to bring together students, educators and influencers who share a passion for robots and technology.
IHMC is located at 40 S. Alcaniz St. in downtown Pensacola. For more information about the facility and its research visit ihmc.us .
