We thoroughly enjoyed the day , the wine tasting was superb. We particularly enjoyed Brown hills winery .The lunch was amazing . We thought the driver was great, friendly, interesting and helpful. The van was packed and very hot. The first vineyard was Xanadu. Very rushed - host not really interested - kept telling us she was multi-tasking very effectively while also organising picnics and a wedding. She wasn’t succeeding- we felt unwelcome and that she couldn’t wait to end our particular ‘task’. Next 2 locations far more welcoming. But as another reviewer said, the cardboard snack box was disappointing. I understand the Covid complications, so why not just drop the cheese altogether to avoid disappointment, maybe? We left the tour early as the final chocolate tasting was not a wine tasting. Finally, it was disappointing that all the tasting wines were the most basic options - we like to taste the better wines as they are a bigger barrier to entry and the ones it makes sense to taste before buying. The bus was tidy and clean. The cellar doors we visited were ok but I felt at one in particular we weren’t made feel welcome and a little bit of an effort to the woman providing the samples. I feel that $115. Per person was expensive for what we got. Tastings were very small. The “delicious anti pasta platter” was 2 olives, 6 tiny cubes of cheese, a small dried tomato and 8 crackers served in a cardboard box. Would I recommend this tour - No. very disappointed. THE WINE REGION

Some of the world's oldest soils are found in Margaret River, and its climate is considered one of the most reliable in Australia - giving consistently high quality wines year after year. In fact, 25% of Australia's premium wine comes from the Margaret River region, which is an amazing feat given how little is produced here.

Cabernet and Chardonnay are the heroes of the region, but there are also many wineries now growing and producing wines from lesser known varietals. Of course with great wine comes amazing food, and this region does not disappoint. With an abundance of local farms providing locally grown produce, and close proximity to the ocean for fresh seafood, dining experiences in Margaret River range from fine dining degustations to more casual share plates and woodfired pizzas that showcase the regional produce.

Artisan wares and gourmet produce can be found throughout the region - from local cheese and honey, extra virgin olive oils and preserves, freshly roasted coffee and handmade chocolates to delicious nougat, liqueurs and ice cream.

The Margaret River Discovery Tour

Get out of the car and into the photo, have a whole lot of fun experiencing margaret river’s great outdoors while tasting some of the regions best wines and meeting the people who make them.

• Start the day with a canoe trip down a stunning section of the tranquil Margaret River. You won’t get wet, dirty or fall in. It’s a peaceful beginning to our day of highlights.
• We then head to the beach to see how the winemakers relax – a coffee while we check the surf at one of the region’s top beach breaks.
• Our next stop is an ancient waterhole to spot freshwater Marron and wildlife and to taste local honey while we reflect on Aboriginal history dating back more than 50,000 years.
• Lunch at one the region’s most celebrated emerging superstar wineries –Fraser Gallop Estate – is our next highlight. We have exclusive access to the working winery and vineyard and savour some of the best wines in the region matched with local produce while seated among barrels of ageing wine.
• We finish our day with a 4WD adventure and walk on a spectacular section of the Cape to Cape Track – the Wilyabrup Cliffs. We have special government approval to use a 4WD track that offers stunning cliff top views. High above the Indian Ocean the epic scenery, fresh sea breezes and surrounding ancient soils provide a deeper understanding of the unique terroir of the Margaret River region. Dolphins, sharks, whales, kangaroos, eagles and wildflowers are seasonal, but all possible.
